The test performed well when both principal components and sex were included as covariates and strongly implicated LDLR (SLP=50.08) and PCSK9 (SLP=-10.42) while also highlighting other genes previously found to be associated with lipid levels. Variants classified by SIFT as deleterious have on average a twofold effect and their cumulative frequency is such that they are present in approximately 1.5% of the population.ConclusionThese analyses shed further light on the way that genetic variation contributes to risk of hyperlipidaemia and in particular that there are very many protein-altering variants which have on average moderate effects and whose effects can be detected when large samples of exome-sequenced subjects are available. The genetic structure of the SLSJ population is considered to be the product a triple founder effect and is characterised by a higher prevalence of some rare genetic diseases. Several studies were performed to elucidate the historical, demographic and genetic background of current SLSJ inhabitants to assess the origins of these rare disorders and their distribution in the population. Thanks to the development of new sequencing technologies, the genes and the variants responsible for the most prevalent conditions were identified. Combined with other resources such as the BALSAC population database, identifying the causal genes and the pathogenic variants allowed to assess the impacts of some of these founder mutations on the population health and to design precision medicine public health strategies based on carrier testing. Furthermore, it stimulated the establishment of many public programmes.We report here a review and an update of a subset of inherited disorders and founder mutations in the SLSJ region. Data were collected from published scientific sources. This work expands the knowledge about the current frequencies of these rare disorders, the frequencies of other rare genetic diseases in this population, the relevance of the carrier tests offered to the population, as well as the current available treatments and research about future therapeutic avenues for these inherited disorders.Hyperactivated EGFR signaling is a driver of various human cancers, including glioblastoma (GBM). Effective EGFR-targeted therapies rely on knowledge of key signaling hubs that transfer and amplify EGFR signaling. Here we focus on the transcription factor TAZ, a potential signaling hub in the EGFR signaling network. TAZ expression was positively associated with EGFR expression in clinical GBM specimens. In patient-derived GBM neurospheres, EGF induced TAZ through EGFR-ERK and EGFR-STAT3 signaling, and the constitutively active EGFRvIII mutation caused EGF-independent hyperactivation of TAZ. Genome-wide analysis showed that the EGFR-TAZ axis activates multiple oncogenic signaling mechanisms, including an EGFR-TAZ-RTK positive feedback loop, as well as upregulating HIF1α and other oncogenic genes. However, post-procedure stenosis is one of the most common long-term complications. This meta-analysis aimed to investigate whether stent placement is effective in the stenosis prevention, and which type of stent would be more effective. A systematic and electronic search of clinical trials and observational studies conducted before March 2020 on the efficacy of stent placement in preventing esophageal stricture after ESD was performed. Search terms included "ESD," "esophageal stenosis," "esophageal stricture," and "stents." We conducted a bias risk assessment of the eligible reports and a meta-analysis of the data using Revman 5.3 software. We included two randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and a prospective cohort study involving 163 patients with esophageal mucosal defects encompassing at least three-quarters of the esophagus circumference after ESD. The meta-analysis results showed that post-ESD stenosis rates (RR, 0.37; 95% CI, 0.22-0.64; P = 0.0003) and the number of endoscopic balloon dilations (EBDs) (MD, -1.74; 95% CI, -2.46 to -1.01; P less then 0.00001) were reduced in the pooled analysis of three studies, indicating that stent placement was effective for stenosis prevention, especially a polyglycolic acid (PGA) sheet combined with stent placement can prevent stenosis (RR, 0.41; 95% CI, 0.23-0.74; P = 0.003) and reduce the number of EBDs (MD, -1.65; 95% CI, -2.40 to -0.90; P less then 0.0001) significantly. Stent placement can reduce the rate of esophageal stenosis after ESD, especially when stents are covered with PGA sheets. The ability to visually evaluate 2D dose distributions is an advantage of RCF dosimetry over other methods. This study aimed to compare real-world clinical effectiveness and safety of vedolizumab, an α4β7-integrin inhibitor, and anti-tumour necrosis factor-α (anti-TNFα) agents in biologic-naïve ulcerative colitis (UC) and Crohn's disease (CD) patients.
This was a 24-month retrospective medical chart study in adult UC and CD patients treated with vedolizumab or anti-TNFα in Canada, Greece and the United States. Inverse probability weighting was used to account for differences between groups. Primary outcomes were cumulative rates of clinical effectiveness (clinical response, clinical remission, mucosal healing) and incidence rates of serious adverse events (SAEs) and serious infections (SIs). Secondary outcomes included cumulative rates of treatment persistence (patients who did not discontinue index treatment during follow-up) and dose escalation and incidence rates of disease exacerbations and disease-related surgeries. Adjusted analyses were performed using inverse probability weighting.
A total of 1095 patients (604 UC, 491 CD) were included.

These tips were written by a scholar with knowledge of house construction through observation of the surrounding environment. In Malaysia, written sources or records of house construction are scarce and underexposed. As such, this research was conducted to guarantee the written legacy of the construction of Malay houses. The purpose of this paper is to introduce a statistical data source of house building tips that is laden with Malay ingenuity and identity. The wordlists generated from this study can become a source of reference for the field of Malay architecture. Accordingly, this study utilises the quantitative method by applying the Linguistic Corpus Statistical Approach; these data utilise specific corpus development procedures, beginning with text collection, scanning and cleaning processes, text annotation, and data storing in plain text. Next, the data analysis procedure utilises a corpus software, LancsBox, to generate specialised wordlists. The bubble graphs are developed based on these wordlists through the Tableau software, and illustrate the most used lexical items with the raw and relative frequency values. This facilitates searches for, and the reading of, architectural words and architectural word references. These data represent written sources that need to be preserved and become points of reference concerning Malay architectural ingenuity and identity.Designers around the world have leveraged the rapid prototyping and manufacturing capabilities of additive manufacturing (AM), commonly known as 3D printing, to develop numerous engineering design solutions for the COVID-19 pandemic. This dataset consists of the design and manufacturability data for twenty-six such engineering design solutions spanning three categories (1) face masks (N = 12), (2) face shields (N = 6), and (3) hands-free door openers (N = 8). The designs were collected from open-source websites such as Thingiverse, GrabCAD, and the NIH 3D Print Exchange. The manufacturability of these designs was simulated using Ultimaker Cura software and three measures were obtained (1) build time, (2) build cost, and (3) build material. Furthermore, these simulations were performed for multiple materials and infill densities for comparison. Additionally, the manufacturing cost using injection molding was simulated using the Cost Estimation Tool in Solidworks. This dataset comprises (1) the STL files for the designs, (2) the simulated manufacturability data (for additive manufacturing and injection molding), and (3) images that depict the build orientation used in these manufacturability simulations. This dataset can facilitate the development of future innovations that leverage the capabilities of AM processes. The purpose of this paper is to introduce a statistical data source of house building tips that is laden with Malay ingenuity and identity. The wordlists generated from this study can become a source of reference for the field of Malay architecture. Accordingly, this study utilises the quantitative method by applying the Linguistic Corpus Statistical Approach; these data utilise specific corpus development procedures, beginning with text collection, scanning and cleaning processes, text annotation, and data storing in plain text. Next, the data analysis procedure utilises a corpus software, LancsBox, to generate specialised wordlists. The bubble graphs are developed based on these wordlists through the Tableau software, and illustrate the most used lexical items with the raw and relative frequency values. This facilitates searches for, and the reading of, architectural words and architectural word references. The manufacturability of these designs was simulated using Ultimaker Cura software and three measures were obtained (1) build time, (2) build cost, and (3) build material. Furthermore, these simulations were performed for multiple materials and infill densities for comparison. Additionally, the manufacturing cost using injection molding was simulated using the Cost Estimation Tool in Solidworks. Except for malathion, mortality rates of all insectic vector control programs employing any of these insecticides either in the treatment of bed nets or for indoor residual spraying would achieve satisfactory success rates.The mechanisms through which work is organized are central to understanding how complex systems function. Previous studies suggest that task organization can emerge via nonlinear dynamical processes wherein individuals interact and modify their behavior through simple rules. However, there is very limited theory about how those processes are shaped by behavioral variation within social groups. In this work, we propose an adaptive modeling framework on task allocation by incorporating variation both in task performance and task-related metabolic rates. We study the scaling effects of colony size on the resting probability as well as task allocation. We also numerically explore the effects of stochastic noise on task allocation in social insect colonies. Our theoretical and numerical results show that (a) changes in colony size can regulate the probability of colony resting and the allocation of tasks, and the direction of regulation depends on the nonlinear metabolic scaling effects of tasks; (b) increased response thresholds may cause colonies to rest in varied patterns such as periodicity. In this case, we observed an interesting bubble phenomenon in the task allocation of social insect colonies for the first time; (c) stochastic noise can cause work activities and task demand to fluctuate within a range, where the amplitude of the fluctuation is positively correlated with the intensity of noise.Acute kidney injury (AKI) is a complex disorder and a clinical condition characterized by acute reduction in renal function. The study aims at unravelling the contexts, mechanisms and outcomes of PSC for UMRs. For a realist review (RR), scientific evidence and gray literature were synthesised consistent with the RAMESES publication standards for realist synthesis. Based on an iterative keyword search in electronic databases (e.g., PubMed) and screening, 34 works from 2005 to 2019 were included in a realist synthesis. Theory-informed context-mechanism-outcome configurations (CMOs) were extracted, to explain underlying processes and mechanisms. Characterised by their interrelatedness, the dominant CMOs included the UMRs' intersections of transitions (e.g., adolescence and migration), their needs for culture-, and gender-sensitive PSC, and the undersupply of PSC. These contexts and outcomes are mediated by pre-, peri- and post-migratory stressors as well as care structures and are moreover influenced by overarching discourses and concepts. They comprise adverse and beneficial mechanisms in the PSC of UMRs. The existing literature grasps the PSC of UMRs by different disciplines and approaches but does not offer a comprehensive overview on micro-macro intersections and included discourses. The inclusion of lay perspectives and an intersectional approach could inform health service research. The reflection of UMR-related categorical constructs of resilience and vulnerability, discourses of othering, as well as restrictive health policies may guide policy recommendations.Iron is an essential nutrient for almost all known organisms, but in aerobic, neutral pH environments, it is present primarily as precipitated oxyhydroxide minerals. However, energetic constraints that may influence dispersal of young and their use of natal areas are poorly understood. We combined swim-tunnel respirometry, calorimetry, lipid class analysis and a bioenergetics model to investigate how energy demands influence dispersal of young in a globally distributed shark. The school shark (a.k.a. soupfin, tope), Galeorhinus galeus, is Critically Endangered due to overfishing and is one of many sharks that use protected natal areas in Australia. Energy storage in neonate pups was limited by small livers, low overall lipid content and low levels of energy storage lipids (e.g. triacylglycerols) relative to adults, with energy stores sufficient to sustain routine demands for 1.3-4 days (mean ± SD 2.4 ± 0.8 days). High levels of growth-associated structural lipids (e.g. phospholipids) and high energetic cost of growth suggested large investment in growth during residency in natal areas. Rapid growth (~40% in length) between birth in summer and dispersal in late autumn-winter likely increased survival by reducing predation and improving foraging ability. Delaying dispersal may allow prioritization of growth and may also provide energy savings through improved swimming efficiency and cooler ambient temperatures (daily ration was predicted to fall by around a third in winter). Neonate school sharks are therefore ill-equipped for large-scale dispersal and neonates recorded in the northwest of their Australian distribution are likely born locally, not at known south-eastern pupping areas. These findings enhance our ability to interpret sea turtle health and further progress conservation, research and rehabilitation programs for these ecologically important species.Many sharks and other marine taxa use natal areas to maximize survival of young, meaning such areas are often attributed conservation value. The use of natal areas is often linked to predator avoidance or food resources. However, energetic constraints that may influence dispersal of young and their use of natal areas are poorly understood. We combined swim-tunnel respirometry, calorimetry, lipid class analysis and a bioenergetics model to investigate how energy demands influence dispersal of young in a globally distributed shark. The school shark (a.k.a. soupfin, tope), Galeorhinus galeus, is Critically Endangered due to overfishing and is one of many sharks that use protected natal areas in Australia. Energy storage in neonate pups was limited by small livers, low overall lipid content and low levels of energy storage lipids (e.g. triacylglycerols) relative to adults, with energy stores sufficient to sustain routine demands for 1.3-4 days (mean ± SD 2.4 ± 0.8 days). High levels of growth-associated structural lipids (e.g. phospholipids) and high energetic cost of growth suggested large investment in growth during residency in natal areas. Rapid growth (~40% in length) between birth in summer and dispersal in late autumn-winter likely increased survival by reducing predation and improving foraging ability. Delaying dispersal may allow prioritization of growth and may also provide energy savings through improved swimming efficiency and cooler ambient temperatures (daily ration was predicted to fall by around a third in winter). Neonate school sharks are therefore ill-equipped for large-scale dispersal and neonates recorded in the northwest of their Australian distribution are likely born locally, not at known south-eastern pupping areas. This suggests the existence of previously unrecorded school shark pupping areas. To fully participate in the human information-sharing ecosystem that allows for efficient knowledge dissemination and creation, children need to be able to teach others effectively. The current research is the first to investigate links between children's teaching abilities and their developing theory of mind abilities in a non-Western sample. In a sample of 4- to 6-year-old Singaporean children (N = 49), we examined relations between specific components of theory of mind abilities and teaching ability on a social cognitive task. We found that both false belief understanding and the ability to make mental state inferences in a teaching context were associated with effective teaching even after controlling for age and language ability. These findings provide a nuanced picture of the links between mental state reasoning and teaching ability. More broadly, they provide evidence that these links extend beyond Western cultures and generalize to social-cognitive teaching contexts.
Although patients with epilepsy (PWE) constitute a considerable sector of the population in Benghazi, there is no adequate knowledge about this disease.

Here we briefly outline the functions of m6A and its regulatory proteins, including m6A "writers," "readers," and "erasers" on RNA life fate, recapitulate the latest breakthroughs in understanding m6A modification and its regulatory proteins, and the underlying molecular mechanisms that contribute to the carcinogenesis and the progression of breast cancer, so as to provide potential epigenetic targets for diagnosis, treatment and prognosis in breast cancer.Inspired by the unique glass cell wall of diatom, we design a new nanostructure of human serum albumin nanoparticle (HSANP) coated with silica (HSA/SiO2), which consists of a core-satellite assembly of small silica nanoparticles on a single HSANP. The HSA/SiO2 nanoparticles are used for delivering ruthenium polypyridyl complexes into cells. The silica coating increases the Ru loading efficiency, and prevents the burst release of Ru from HSA/SiO2. The Ru release rate can be controlled by adjusting the amount of coated silica on HSANP, affording a drug delivery system with controlled drug release rate. The Ru-HSA/SiO2 nanoparticles show high stability in physiological condition, and significantly increase the Ru uptake into cells, which proceeds via clathrin-mediated endocytosis into the lysosomes. The silica coating takes no effect on the fluorescence intensity and ROS generation of loaded Ru in HSA/SiO2. Japan and South Korea, two neighbouring countries in East Asia, enjoy the highest life expectancies in the world, yet suffer paradoxically from high suicide rates.
We sought to conduct a cross-national comparative analysis of depressive symptoms among older adults in Japan vs. Korea, focusing particularly on poverty and physical health status.

Using data from Hospital Episode Statistics (HES), in this paper we perform, for all patients treated in English hospitals between 1997/8 and 2014/15, an age, period, cohort (APC) analysis to examine how far trends in emergency and elective hospital admissions and bed days can be explained by the effects of the age distribution of the population, together with rising numbers of older people; cohort effects due to differing admission rates of people born in different years, and period effects, effects relating to a specific year which cannot be explained by either age or cohort effects. This time period was chosen to cover a time of significant policy upheaval in the NHS, including significant reforms to the ways in which hospitals were funded, managed and had patients referred to them. We find that most of the increase in elective admissions is due to the period effect. Elective bed-days have been decreasing, generally due to a shift towards day-cases.

Trichoblastomas are rare dermal neoplasms usually found on the scalp and face. Histology shows a proliferation of small basaloid cells arranged in cords or fields surrounded by cellular stroma. Trichoblastomas are usually not aggressive, but trichoblastic carcinomas arising from preexisting trichoblastomas have been described and have been linked to basal cell carcinoma. We found a tumor with features of trichoblastoma with presence of Merkel cells, but with a deeply infiltrative growth pattern into the fat and muscle tissue, without significant architectural or cellular atypia. Tumors with similar growth patterns were previously described as deeply invasive trichoblastic neoplasms. It appears to be a new entity that has been described before but has not been fully characterized low-grade trichoblastic carcinoma. This malignancy seems to show only locally aggressive growth. Radical excision was accomplished with Mohs micrographic surgery.We present 2 cases of rosacea that were successfully managed with off-label treatment. The first is a case of painful, exuding papulopustular lesions of the nose treated with rifaximin, and the other is a case of severe, debilitating and painful flushing treated with sumatriptan. The cases support previous notions that gastrointestinal comorbidities may be related to papulopustular lesions and that flushing may be related to neurogenic inflammation and migraine. The cases also imply that a new approach to rosacea management, based on endotypes and comorbidities, may be warranted.Embolia cutis medicamentosa (ECM) is a rare and unpredictable injection site reaction, occurring after intramuscular, subcutaneous, and even after intraarticular injection of various drugs. We report a very rare case of necrotizing ECM after injection of glatiramer acetate for multiple sclerosis, include a photo documentation over the entire disease course, and discuss hypotheses as to etiology and treatment.Lichen planopilaris is a rare inflammatory condition that is also known as follicular lichen planus. Although the condition commonly affects the scalp, it sometimes involves the other regions of the body with a variety of clinical presentations. The involvement beyond the scalp is considered to be a generalized nature of disease process. In this report, we present a case of generalized follicular lichen planus in a 34-year-old Thai female presenting with comedone-like lesions on the trunk and extremities as well as scarring alopecia on the scalp. Dermoscopic features were also discussed.Clinical responses to dopamine replacement therapy for individuals with Parkinson's disease (PD) are often difficult to predict. We characterized changes in MDS-UPDRS motor factor scores resulting from a short-duration L-Dopa response (SDR), and investigated how the inter-subject clinical differences could be predicted from motor cortical magnetoencephalography (MEG). MDS-UPDRS motor factor scores and resting-state MEG recordings were collected during SDR from twenty individuals with a PD diagnosis. We used a novel subject-specific strategy based on linear support vector machines to quantify motor cortical oscillatory frequency profiles that best predicted medication state. Motor cortical profiles differed substantially across individuals and showed consistency across multiple data folds. There was a linear relationship between classification accuracy and SDR of lower limb bradykinesia, although this relationship did not persist after multiple comparison correction, suggesting that combinations of spectral power features alone are insufficient to predict clinical state. Factor score analysis of therapeutic response and novel subject-specific machine learning approaches based on subject-specific neuroimaging provide tools to predict outcomes of therapies for PD.
The present work proposes the study of the neuromotor activity of the masseter-jaw-tongue articulation during diadochokinetic exercising to establish functional statistical relationships between surface Electromyography (sEMG), 3D Accelerometry (3DAcc), and acoustic features extracted from the speech signal, with the aim of characterizing Hypokinetic Dysarthria (HD). A database of multi-trait signals of recordings from an age-matched control and PD participants are used in the experimental study.

The maturation trajectory of each region was characterized by the time course of diffusion metrics and further quantified using nonlinear regression. The NODDI-derived metrics, neurite density index (NDI) and orientation dispersion index (ODI), increased with age. We conduct a quasi-difference-in-differences (DID) analysis of the impacts of lockdown measures on air pollution during the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic in China. Our study covers 367 cities from the beginning of the lockdown on 23 January 2020 until April 22, two weeks after the lockdown in the epicenter was lifted. Static and dynamic analysis of the average treatment effects on the treated is conducted for the air quality index (AQI) and six criteria pollutants. The results indicate that, first, on average, the AQI decreased by about 7%. However, it was still over the threshold set by the World Health Organization. Second, we detect heterogeneous changes in the level of different pollutants, which suggests heterogeneous impacts of the lockdown on human activities carbon monoxide (CO) had the biggest drop, about 30%, and nitrogen dioxide (NO2) had the second-biggest drop, 20%. In contrast, ozone (O3) increased by 3.74% due to the changes in the NOx/VOCs caused by the decrease in NOx, the decrease of O3 titration, and particulate matter concentration. Third, air pollution levels rebounded immediately after the number of infections dropped, which indicates a swift recovery of human activities. We performed three meta-analyses (1) cancer mortality comparing the "less than 60 bpm" and "more than 60 bpm" categories; (2) cancer mortality comparing "less than 60 bpm", "60 to 80 bpm", and "more than 80 bpm" categories; and (3) analysis for 10-12 and 20 bpm increase in RHR and risk of cancer mortality. Twenty-two studies were included in the qualitative review, and twelve of them met the inclusion criteria for the meta-analysis. Our results showed a positive association between RHR and the risk of cancer mortality. This association was shown in a meta-analysis comparing studies reporting mean RHR values below and above 60 bpm, when comparing three RHR categories using less than 60 bpm as the reference category and, finally, in dose response analyses estimating the effect of an increase of 10-12 bpm in RHR, both in men and in women.

Enhanced biological phosphorus removal (EBPR) is one of the most promising technologies as an economical and environmentally sustainable technique for removal of phosphorus from wastewater (WW). However, with high capacity of EBPR, insufficient P-removal is a major yet common issue of many full-scale wastewater treatment plants (WWTP), due to misinterpreted environmental and microbial disturbance. By developing a rather extensive understanding on biochemical pathways and metabolic models governing the anaerobic and aerobic/anoxic processes; the optimal operational conditions, environmental changes and microbial population interaction are efficiently predicted. Therefore, this paper critically reviews the current knowledge on biochemical pathways and metabolic models of phosphorus accumulating organisms (PAOs) and glycogen accumulating organisms (GAOs) as the most abundant microbial populations in EBPR process with an insight on the effect of available carbon source types in WW on phosphorus removal performance. Moreover, this paper critically assesses the gaps and potential future research in metabolic modeling area. With all the developments on EBPR process in the past few decades, there is still lack of knowledge in this critical sector. This paper hopes to touch on this problem by gathering the existing knowledge and to provide farther insights on the future work onto chemical transformations and metabolic strategies in different conditions to benefit the quantitative model as well as WWTP designs.Incentives are used to improve many health-related behaviors, but evidence is mixed for their effectiveness both during the incentivization period and, even more so, on the persistence of the behavior after incentives are withdrawn. In this paper, we present the results of a randomized controlled trial that successfully uses incentives to improve medication adherence among HIV-infected patients in Uganda over 20 months, and follows the sample for another 6 months to measure the persistence of these behavioral improvements. Our study contributes to the literature on habit formation by identifying a behavioral strategy that is associated with persistently high medication adherence after controlling for observable individual-level characteristics and the receipt of incentives. We find evidence supporting a psychological theory of habits as reflexive context-behavior associations, which suggests new ways of designing incentive-based interventions for better promoting persistent, healthier behaviors.The Early Middle Paleolithic (EMP) is a less-studied phase of the Levantine Middle Paleolithic, attributable to the small number of sites discovered. Drawing on the dense archaeological accumulations at Misliya Cave, Mount Carmel, Israel, the present study seeks to trace EMP daily activities and behavioral patterns through the prism of use-wear analysis. The emergence of the laminar and Levallois technologies that form the EMP toolkit is investigated to reveal other dimensions of tool novelties. Through microscopic analyses, integrated with experimentation, the most outstanding aspect revealed in this study is the extensive evidence of hafting, which included the use of binding together with various techniques for tool design. A unique treatment was identified, never reported before, entailing the abrasion of cortical surfaces and protruding dorsal ridges. Other aspects include the clear preference for pointed tools as a leading morphological trend and the use of retouch as a mean to create durable working edges and facilitate grip arrangements. The analysis demonstrates the venue of use-wear to trace a wide variety of practices, including consumption-related (processing hunted game and edible plants) and craft-related (hide processing, woodworking, and perhaps stone working) activities that otherwise hardly leave a trace in the archaeological record. By exploring these features, the research provides important insights into early hominin behavior and way of life during the EMP, emphasizing the novelties brought by the earliest Homo sapiens out of Africa.No literature is available on the benign versus malignant breast lesion ratio in trans women (male sex assigned at birth, female gender identity). In this study we found that 126 people (5%) had one or more breast biopsies (n = 139). Of these, 21 trans women had a breast biopsy before the start of hormone treatment, and 53 after the start of hormone treatment. Significantly higher total OPE concentrations (∑OPEs) were observed in the wet season (49.5-148 ng L-1) than in the dry season (5.00-45.7 ng L-1) suggesting higher input via tributaries discharge as well as wet deposition in the studied region. Whereas lower levels of TnBP and (triphenyl phosphate (TPHP) in wet season reflected their possible degradation under solar irradiation. Comparable levels of total Di-OPs (∑Di-OPs) were found in the wet season (3.41-13.9 ng L-1) and dry season (1.01-12.3 ng L-1). Tri(2-chloroethyl) phosphate and tris(2-chloroisopropyl) phosphate were the main OPE components, while diphenyl phosphate, di-n-butyl phosphate and bis(1,3-dichloro-2-propyl) phosphate were the main Di-OP components. High levels of OPEs and Di-OPs were found in Datong Lake suggesting possible local emissions potentially related to fishery activity in the land-locked lake.

Significantly higher total OPE concentrations (∑OPEs) were observed in the wet season (49.5-148 ng L-1) than in the dry season (5.00-45.7 ng L-1) suggesting higher input via tributaries discharge as well as wet deposition in the studied region. Their plasma levels of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) were significantly lower than in those who did not received this treatment. To detect factors related with loss to follow-up (LTF) in neonatal hearing screening (NHS) program of one institution in a developing country.
A prospective study was planned based on the data collected in a pilot study conducted a year before in the same institution. In this pilot study, hearing screening was performed before hospital discharge for every infant (1217 newborns) in six months period. Total referral rate was 19.1% (223/1217). Loss to follow-up (LTF) was 38.1% (85/223). Telephonic interviews were done with 50 parents who had not come with their child to the second hearing test. For these telephonic interviews the questionnaire with four sections (socio-demographic information; information about pregnancy, birth, and present health condition of the child; caregiver knowledge of neonatal hearing screening, and reasons for default on follow-up) was created.
The mothers participated in this study were 29.1 years (±5.2 SD) of age in average. Place of residence was mostly rural (64%; n=32) with 39.4 Km (±24.8 SD) away from from the rescreen referral center. Their knowledge on neonatal hearing screening, hearing impairment incidence or treatment opportunities was at a very low level. Caregivers' perceptions that follow-up was unnecessary (50%; n=25), was most frequently given reason for follow-up default, followed by newborns bad health condition (12%; n=6) and forgetting about the follow-up visits (8%; n=6).

To investigate changes in DTI (Diffusion Tensor Imaging) parameters in brainstem subcortical auditory pathways after Gamma Knife Radiosurgery (GKR) in patients with intracanalicular vestibular schwannoma (ICVS) and to analyze the relationship between tumor volume and ADC (apparent diffusion coefficient) and FA (fractional anisotropy) values.
Seventeen patients with ICVS were evaluated before and after GKR. ADC and FA values of the lateral lemniscus (LL) and inferior colliculus (IC) and tumor volume were calculated. Patients who responded to GKR were classified as Group 1 and those who did not respond adequately as Group 2. The relationship between ADC and FA values and changes in tumor volume were analyzed.
Tumor volume significantly decreased after GKR. ADC values obtained from the tumor increased after GKR (p0.002). There was no significant difference in LL and IC before and after GKR in terms of FA and ADC values (n17). There was a positive correlation between response to treatment and contralateral the brainstem level, we think that GKR is a noninvasive treatment method that can be used safely in patients with ICVS.
The present study aimed to compare the value of D-dimer measured on the 3rd day of hospitalization with admission D-dimer level in predicting in-hospital mortality in coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases.
In total, 231 patients with COVID-19 disease were included in the study. D-dimer levels were estimated using immunoturbidimetric assay with normal range of 0-500 μg/mL. In the current research, the primary outcome was the in-hospital mortality.
In the present research, 39 (16.8%) COVID-19 cases died during the index hospitalization. In a multivariable analysis; age, D-dimer (3

The initial treatment plan was application of distal traction to the impacted left canine from reinforced anchorage unit to change its inclination from horizontal to vertical before erupting it toward occlusion. In this case report, we demonstrated the use of a mini-implant and a modified Nance button-assisted forced eruption of an impacted canine. The 12-month follow-up review showed that the results were maintained during the time, and the previously impacted teeth showed intact gingival attachments.
