The preventive measures against the risk of contamination by Covid-19 infection taken in the visited companies were considered insufficient. An awareness campaign has been initiated to correct the shortcomings observed.
The preventive measures against the risk of contamination by Covid-19 infection taken in the visited companies were considered insufficient. An awareness campaign has been initiated to correct the shortcomings observed.The Covid-19 pandemic had a major psychosocial impact on the mental health of children and adolescents, especially when the childhas mental health problems. During containment, the healthcare structures were subject to a significant restriction of their activities. The child and adolescent psychiatry department of the Mongi Slim Hospital in Tunis has set up telephone follow-up for patients deemed to be at risk. This follow-up involved 166 cases, the majority of them were suffering from neurodevelopmental disorders, followed by depressive disorders and adjustment disorders. A third of the patients had reported a worsening of the symptoms during the containment and a third had reported clinical improvement. During this follow-up, recommendations were made to parents to limit the negative impact of Covid-19 pandemic. Maintaining follow-up of patients with mental disorders by telemedicine is a major challenge in order to prevent the repercussions of this pandemic in the long term.
Because of the mandatory sanitary measures established during the Covid-19 Pandemic, we have proposed to describe the new clinical, educative, and research practices of an international sample of doctors.
We have used an online electronic survey of a convenient sample of doctors from 40 countries using a multiple-choice online questionnaire, including three domains. 424 out of 456 respondents provided adequate responses.
Most respondents were from medical (51.5%) and surgical (11.8%) specialties. Over half of the respondents practiced in academic centers and one fifth in the private sector. Coronavirus pandemic induced frequent changes in practice, such as seeing fewer patients in clinics than usual (34.9%) and utilization of telemedicine (31.3%). A significant disruption in medical education activities and residents' training was observed, resulting in the cancellation of many activities such as grand rounds, departmental and multidisciplinary meetings, and case conferences with over-reliance on virtual and on-demand educational sessions. The residents' supervision and support were significantly reduced. Almost 16% of respondents were involved in research work on coronavirus pandemic while a third continued their usual research activity, but half were not involved in any research at the time of the survey.

The great point of this crisis was the fear, stress of caregivers for themselves and their families. The other point for members of Covid Cell was the race against time, the learning of a new job a manager or a polyvalent chief. The presence of a Covid-19 circuit is necessary for each hospital at the epidemic time but it must be managed by infectious diseases doctors, lung specialists, intensive care givers and emergency room caregivers in collaboration. An enhancement of the structures is necessary at the level of medical wards and beds of intensive care.
To compile the lessons learned in the Greater Maghreb, during the first six months of the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, in the field of preparation of health systems.
An expert consultation was conducted during the first week of May 2020, using the "Delphi" technique. An email was sent to them requesting the formulation of a lesson, in the form of a "Public Health" good practice recommendation. The final text of the lessons was finalized by the group coordinator and validated by the signatories of the manuscript.
A list of five lessons for the preparation of the national health systems of the Greater Maghreb for the fight against epidemics, was deduced and approved 1. Liberal health systems are incapable of managing epidemics; 2. The specialties of "Public Health" are often marginalized; 3. Health personnel in the Maghreb are doubly devalued; 4. Flagrant regional disparities in the field of health care are still observed; 5. A general shortage of preventive equipment and medical devices has been noted.

Moreover, progress in generating sensory hair cells and neurons from stem cells spurs disease modelling, drug screening, and regenerative approaches. This review briefly summarizes the pathophysiology of paediatric hearing impairment and provides an update on the current preclinical development of innovative approaches toward improved hearing restoration.In this contribution we demonstrate a mobile, integrated MR plant imager that can be handled by one single person and used in the field. Key to the construction of it was a small and lightweight gradient amplifier, specifically tailored to our combination of magnet, gradient coils and the requirements of the desired pulse sequences. To allow imaging of branches and stems, an open C-shaped permanent magnet was used. In the design of the magnet, pole gap width, low weight and robustness were prioritized over homogeneity and field strength. To overcome the adverse effects of short T2*, multi-spin echo imaging was employed, using short echo times and high spectral widths. To achieve microscopic resolution under these constraints requires fast switching field gradients, driven by strong and fast gradient amplifiers. While small-scale spectrometers and RF amplifiers are readily available, appropriate small-scale gradient amplifiers or designs thereof currently are not. We thus constructed a small, 3-channel gradient amplifier on the basis of a conventional current-controlled AB amplifier design, using cheap and well-known parts. The finished device weighs 5 kg and is capable of delivering 40 A gradient pulses of >6 ms in duration. With all components built onto an aluminum hand trolley, the imaging setup weighs 45 kg and is small enough to fit into a car. We demonstrate the mobility and utility of the device imaging quantitative water content and T2, first of an apple tree in an orchard; second, of a beech tree during spring leaf flushing in a greenhouse. The latter experiment ran for a continuous period of 62 days, acquiring more than 6000 images.As both a utility mode of transport and recreational activity, cycling has well-known health, environmental, and economic benefits. For data collection, a survey addressing collisions was distributed to cyclists across the country in 2018. Univariable testing was used to identify differences in collision factors and injury outcomes for cyclist collisions with motorised vehicles, and those where a motorised vehicle is not involved as a collision partner i.e. single cyclist, cyclist-pedestrian, or cyclist-cyclist collisions. Furthermore, binary logistic regression modelling was used to clarify biasing factors for Police reporting of collisions. The largest proportion of collisions was between cycl have been shown to be a substantial contributor to the cyclist safety problem. Herein, we have designed and synthesized two activity-based single-step fluorogenic probes KTcr-I and KTcr-II for detecting enzymatic decrotonylation activity. These two probes can be recognized by histone deacetylases and undergo intramolecular nucleophilic exchange reaction to generate fluorescence signal. Notably, peptide sequence-dependent effect was observed. KTcr-I can be recognized by Sirt2 more effectively, while KTcr-II with LGKcr peptide sequence preferentially reacted with HDAC3. Compared to other methods of studying enzymatic decrotonylation activity, our single-step fluorescent method has a number of advantages, such as facileness, high sensitivity, cheap facility and little material consumed.

The discovery of a malignant pleural effusion indicates metastatic disease and thus invariably results in the highest possible cancer stage. Although the female reproductive tract overall is a common primary tumor site giving rise to malignant pleural effusion, vulvar carcinoma stands out for its propensity for locoregional spread rather than distant metastasis. Our case contributes to the extremely limited number of published descriptions of thoracic involvement by vulvar carcinoma, with malignant pleural effusion being a particularly unusual pattern.
Ponticlus posticus as a one of the cervical vertebra variations brings about symptoms similar to Eagle syndrome. This study aimed to determine the relationship between elongated styloid process (ESP) and ponticulus posticus (PP) in a group of Iranian patients using cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) images.
The CBCT images of 349 patients (118 males and 231 females; mean age 32.53 ± 14.143) were involved in this study. The atlas vertebra was investigated for the presence and classification of PP (partial or complete) in sagittal views. Also, the styloid process was evaluated for the presence of ESP in reconstructed panoramic and 3D images. Data were analyzed using Mann-Whitney test, Fisher's exact test, and Chi-square test to assess the relationship between the presence of PP and ESP with regard to age and gender.
PP was observed in 24.5% of patients with ESP and 31.98% of patients without ESP. There was no significant relationship between the presence of PP and ESP (p = 0.198). 25 patients with ESP showed PP, cases of ESP with either side and opposite side PP were 7.84% and 1.96%, respectively. Cases of bilateral ESP and PP were predominant (14.70%). The mean age of patients with bilateral ESP and PP was higher than others. There was no significant difference between males and females (p = 0.456).
Considering the prevalence and characteristics of PP in the case and control groups, there was no significant relationship between PP and ESP.

Commonly, arterial anatomic variants are reported as single entities. However, different such variants can occur in a single patient.
During a retrospective study of computed tomography angiograms of 52 adult patients, two cases were found with unilateral maxillofacial trunks. In each case different other anatomic variants were documented.
The maxillofacial trunk in the first case was associated with bilateral posterior kinks of the internal carotid artery which passed beyond the transverse processes of the atlas vertebra and indented and displaced the internal jugular veins. Common carotid origins of the superior thyroid arteries were found, as well as a high origin of the contralateral facial artery. In the second case a plethora of variants were associated with a unilateral maxillofacial trunk (1) direct occipital-vertebral arterial anastomosis; (2) ipsilateral atresia of the distal vertebral artery and of the A1 segment of the anterior cerebral artery; (3) bilateral atresia of posterior communicating arteries; (4) linguofacial and labiomental trunks; (5) terminal trifurcation of the external carotid artery.

This can be achieved either by transplanting mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) from the bone marrow or injecting platelet-rich plasma (PRP). Current research reviewed a TIDM model and compared the effect of BMSCs on exocrine and endocrine pancreas portions versus PRP. The discovery of a malignant pleural effusion indicates metastatic disease and thus invariably results in the highest possible cancer stage. Although the female reproductive tract overall is a common primary tumor site giving rise to malignant pleural effusion, vulvar carcinoma stands out for its propensity for locoregional spread rather than distant metastasis. Our case contributes to the extremely limited number of published descriptions of thoracic involvement by vulvar carcinoma, with malignant pleural effusion being a particularly unusual pattern. Ponticlus posticus as a one of the cervical vertebra variations brings about symptoms similar to Eagle syndrome. This study aimed to determine the relationship between elongated styloid process (ESP) and ponticulus posticus (PP) in a group of Iranian patients using cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) images. The CBCT images of 349 patients (118 males and 231 females; mean age 32.53 ± 14.143) were involved in this study. The atlas vertebra was investigated for the presence and classification of PP (partial or complete) in sagittal views. Also, the styloid process was evaluated for the presence of ESP in reconstructed panoramic and 3D images. Data were analyzed using Mann-Whitney test, Fisher's exact test, and Chi-square test to assess the relationship between the presence of PP and ESP with regard to age and gender. PP was observed in 24.5% of patients with ESP and 31.98% of patients without ESP. There was no significant relationship between the presence of PP and ESP (p = 0.198). 25 patients with ESP showed PP, cases of ESP with either side and opposite side PP were 7.84% and 1.96%, respectively. Cases of bilateral ESP and PP were predominant (14.70%). The mean age of patients with bilateral ESP and PP was higher than others. There was no significant difference between males and females (p = 0.456). Considering the prevalence and characteristics of PP in the case and control groups, there was no significant relationship between PP and ESP. During a retrospective study of computed tomography angiograms of 52 adult patients, two cases were found with unilateral maxillofacial trunks. In each case different other anatomic variants were documented. The maxillofacial trunk in the first case was associated with bilateral posterior kinks of the internal carotid artery which passed beyond the transverse processes of the atlas vertebra and indented and displaced the internal jugular veins. Common carotid origins of the superior thyroid arteries were found, as well as a high origin of the contralateral facial artery. Overweight and obesity are associated with many chronic diseases. This study aimed to clarify the possible effects of consuming golden kiwifruit as daily fruit intake on body composition, lipid metabolism and inflammatory responses.
We recruited twenty-two overweight and obese subjects and they were asked to consume two golden kiwifruit every day during the 6-wk experimental period. At the baseline and end of the study, fasting blood samples were collected and anthropometric and blood pressure measurement were conducted.
During the experimental period, no adverse effect and dropout were reported. At the end of the study, a significant decrease in body fat and circulatory tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α concentration were found. In addition, there was a reduction of angiotensin II (AgII) concentration and systolic blood pressure in subjects with baseline systolic blood pressure (SBP) ≥125 mmHg.
Our results suggested that daily golden kiwifruit intake can reduce body fat mass, improve blood pressure and regulating inflammatory responses in overweight and obese young adults.

Small peptides possessing high antioxidant activity can be obtained from rice bran protein via enzymatic hydrolysis. Immune-modulating and antioxidative activity of rice bran protein hydrolysates from crude rice bran protein and its fractions were studied. Albumin, globulin, glutelin, and prolamin proteins were fractionated based on solubility differences and hydrolyzed with two types of enzyme, namely pepsin and protease M. Albumin fraction showed a high degree of hydrolysis in both enzymes. Protease M differently digested rice bran protein fractions, in which it showed low digestion in glutelin and prolamin fractions. After 30 min of hydrolysis time, the reaction slowed down, and antioxidant activity remained constant in pepsin hydrolysis. Due to the high presence of lipopolysaccharide (LPS) in protease M digested fractions (caused by the enzyme), it could not be used to determine immune-modulating activity. THP-1 macrophages were simultaneously stimulated with 100 ng/mL LPS and rice bran protein hydrolysates from 4 h of pepsin digestion. Reduction of pro-inflammatory cytokine IL-1β and increase of anti-inflammatory cytokine IL-10 were observed from crude rice bran protein and albumin. In conclusion, pepsin-digested rice bran protein could be potentially used as antioxidative and anti-inflammatory agent.Coconut water is reported to have lipid-lowering effects in animal studies. However, there is lack of published reports regarding its effect on adipocytes. This study observed the effect of coconut water on adipocyte differentiation and lipid accumulation in 3T3-L1 cells. The sample used in this study was mature coconut water from tall variety. Based on a preliminary study, the sample was heat-treated and added with certain amino acids as precursors for Maillard reaction to improve its original flavor. As a comparison, aromatic coconut water was used since it is highly preferred as a fresh beverage. Six samples were supplemented to 3T3-L1 cells, which were then analyzed for cell proliferation, lipid accumulation, triglyceride content, and gene expression. Arginine and vitamin C contents of the samples were also determined. The data were analyzed with ANOVA and followed by Tukey's test. Results showed that aromatic coconut water could slightly suppress lipid accumulation, while mature coconut water had a significantly lower percentage of accumulation compared to the control sample (p0.05). Similarly, the addition of lysine and proline in canned samples did not significantly affect the cells' differentiation. There was no significant effect on expressions of C/EBP-α and PPARγ, indicating the possibility of other pathways involved in hypolipidemic effect of coconut water. At the end of the experiment, all rats were terminated and the internal organs such as liver, kidney, femurs were collected and analyzed. Mean and SD values were compared by one-way ANOVA and Kruskal-Wallis-Wilcoxon test, the formation of micronuclei was compared using Mann-Whitney U-test. Significant decrease in serum malondialdehyde and urinary 8-hydroxy-2'-deoxyguanosine levels were observed in Bisphenol-A+turmeric groups as compared to Bisphenol-A groups. Bisphenol-A groups exhibited significantly higher mean levels of DNA damage in liver and kidney as compared to the untreated control group. Bisphenol-A group showed significant increase in the formation of micronuclei which was approximately threefold higher as compared to the control group. A significant decrease in DNA migration was observed in Bisphenol-A+turmeric fed groups in liver and kidney. Methods Documentation of SM sexual orientation was retrospectively extracted from clinical notes and administrative data in the VHA from October 1, 1999 to July 1, 2019. The rate of documentation overall and by calendar year was calculated, and differences across patient, provider, and clinic characteristics were evaluated. Results Approximately 1.4% of all VHA Veterans (n = 115,911) had at least one documentation of SM sexual orientation, including 79,455 men and 36,456 women. The rate of documentation increased from 81.01/100,000 in 2000 to 568.84/100,000 in 2018. The majority of documentations (58.7%) occurred in mental health settings by non-MD mental health/social work counselors, whereas only 9.6% occurred in primary care settings. Although 99% of these Veterans had a primary care visit, only 19% had SM status recorded in that setting. Conclusion Documentation patterns of SM sexual orientation varied considerably in the VHA with notable gaps in primary care. Diverse approaches to culturally competent training for primary care clinicians and patient-facing collection strategies could facilitate documentation of sexual orientation.Deep venous thrombosis (DVT) is associated with significant morbidity, mortality, and increased healthcare costs. The primary outcome of interest was diagnosis of in-hospital DVT. OncoTree is a dynamic and flexible community-driven cancer classification platform encompassing rare and common cancers that provides clinically relevant and appropriately granular cancer classification for clinical decision support systems and oncology research.Purpose The purpose of this study was to determine variation in sexual minority (SM) sexual orientation documentation within the electronic medical records of the Veterans Health Administration (VHA). Methods Documentation of SM sexual orientation was retrospectively extracted from clinical notes and administrative data in the VHA from October 1, 1999 to July 1, 2019. The rate of documentation overall and by calendar year was calculated, and differences across patient, provider, and clinic characteristics were evaluated. Results Approximately 1.4% of all VHA Veterans (n = 115,911) had at least one documentation of SM sexual orientation, including 79,455 men and 36,456 women. The rate of documentation increased from 81.01/100,000 in 2000 to 568.84/100,000 in 2018. The majority of documentations (58.7%) occurred in mental health settings by non-MD mental health/social work counselors, whereas only 9.6% occurred in primary care settings. Although 99% of these Veterans had a primary care visit, only 19% had SM status recorded in that setting. Conclusion Documentation patterns of SM sexual orientation varied considerably in the VHA with notable gaps in primary care. One focus was placed on the comparison of the subjective assessment and perception of patient owners with regard to long-term investigation of disease progression.
An owner survey was conducted in dogs with chronic enteropathy (CE) and degenerative mitral valve disease (DMVD). In both surveys, the case system of the Clinic for Small Animals of the University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover was used to identify suitable cases based on appropriate diagnoses. Owners were contacted and invited to complete (digitally or postally) a multipart questionnaire on their dogs. The results of the survey were evaluated regarding their agreement with literature data. Based on the results of this evaluation, the study design, reliability of owner perception and the benefit of the survey were examined critically.

A total of 2772 uroliths from dogs in Germany that had been submitted from veterinary practices during the years 2017-2019 were analyzed by infrared spectroscopy.
Uroliths were analyzed as follows Struvite (44.7 %), calcium oxalate monohydrate (whewellite 24.5 %), cystine (15.2 %), ammonium urate (5.3 %), calcium oxalate dihydrate (weddellite 4.4 %), calcium phosphate (1.6 %), xanthine (1.2 %), whewellite/weddellite (11 %), brushite (0.4 %) and other substances (1.7 %). The dogs' median age (in years) with regards to the urolith type amounted to struvite 8, calcium oxalate (whewellite and weddellite) 10, cystine 5, brushite 11, xanthine 6.5, and ammonium urate 6 years. Struvite uroliths were most common in intact females (83.8 %) and neutered females (80.8 %), while cystine uroliths (36.7 %) and calcium oxalates (35.7 % whewellite and weddellitewner.

Target skin areas have been evaluated for melanin concentration and skin texture before peeling and at study visits 1 (after peeling) and 2 (after the 30-day treatment). The topical treatment program induced a decrease in melanin concentration between study visits 1 and 2 (-4.74%; p = 0.0008). It reduced melanin concentration even further between the prepeeling period and visit 2 (-7.8%; p less then 0.0001). Patients rated the depigmentation topical treatment program as "very simple" (87.5%) and "simple" (12.5%) to use and as "pleasant" (56.25%) and "very pleasant" (43.75%). Forearm cortical skin stratum corneum samples were obtained from four healthy subjects using a noninvasive method. In addition, these subjects were collected intravenously to obtain blood samples. Ceramides were detected in skin and blood samples using high-performance liquid chromatography coupled with specialized high-resolution Fourier Transform mass spectrometry machine. Data were analyzed using full-flow lipid analysis software. Peaks representing ceramides were detected in all skin samples and some blood samples. The results show that ceramides in skin are predominantly long-chain ceramides, but mainly short-chain in the blood. Simple and fast qualitative and quantitative analysis of ceramide in the skin and blood provides a basis for the precise addition of ceramide in future skin care products and the metabolic regulation and prevention of various diseases.

The average exposure of sodium saccharin of residents was 0. 69 mg/kg, accounted for 13. 80% of ADI, while high exposure(P97. 5) was 5. 37 mg/kg, and accounted for 107. 36% of ADI. The exposure of sodium saccharin of residents in all age groups exceeded ADI were ranged from 20. 60% to 132. 80%. They could be used as antibacterial ingredients in various industries.To explore the significance of ceramide in the skin barrier and its potential utility within the cosmetics industry, an accurate and high-speed method was used to detect the types of ceramides in the skin and blood of a healthy Chinese population. Forearm cortical skin stratum corneum samples were obtained from four healthy subjects using a noninvasive method. In addition, these subjects were collected intravenously to obtain blood samples. Ceramides were detected in skin and blood samples using high-performance liquid chromatography coupled with specialized high-resolution Fourier Transform mass spectrometry machine. Data were analyzed using full-flow lipid analysis software. Peaks representing ceramides were detected in all skin samples and some blood samples. The results show that ceramides in skin are predominantly long-chain ceramides, but mainly short-chain in the blood. Simple and fast qualitative and quantitative analysis of ceramide in the skin and blood provides a basis for the precise addition of ceramide in future skin care products and the metabolic regulation and prevention of various diseases. In this study, we aimed to make a comprehensive comparison of the first hundred robot-assisted radical prostatectomy (RARP) and open retropubic radical prostatectomy (RRP) cases of a single surgeon in a high-volume center.
Preoperative, perioperative and postoperative data were collected retrospectively. Perioperative, oncological data and functional results in the first year were compared between the two groups. There were 204 RARPs between January 1, 2014 and December 31, 2019, and 755 RRPs between April 1, 2007 and December 31, 2019.
While the operation time was in favor of the open group (117 vs 188 min, p<0.001), the estimated blood loss (328 vs 150 ml, p<0.001), blood transfusion rate (12 vs 2, p=0.021), and re-operation rate (6 vs 0, p=0.001) were in favor of the robotic group. Mean length of hospital stay (5.4 vs 3.1, p<0.001), urine leak rate (11 vs 2, p=0.033), complication rate (37 vs 16, p=0.018), and the 12th month continence rate (67 vs 85, p=0.002) were better in the robotic group.
RARP may provide better perioperative outcomes and lower complication rates after the surgeon factor is eliminated in the early period. Since our case group includes the initial 100 patients, studies with larger patient groups with longer follow-up are needed to adapt these early results to general outcomes.

To compare efficacy of intravitreal bevacizumab augmented with Panretinal photocoagulation versus Panretinal photocoagulation alone in high risk proliferative diabetic retinopathy.
This is Randomized clinical control trial study conducted at ISRA University Hospital, Hyderabad from July 2018 to December 2018. A total of 76 eyes were randomized into two groups, 38 eyes undergone PRP plus intravitreal bevacizumab, while 38 eyes had PRP alone. Status of neovessels was assessed before and after treatment with the help of fundus fluorescein angiography. Neovessels at disc (NVD's) and neovessels elsewhere (NVE's) were assessed with the disc surface diameter.
Seventy-six eyes were enrolled in this randomized clinical trial into two groups consecutively, that all completed the six months follow-up. In the PRP group mean BCVA (logMAR) worsened significantly from mean 0.30±0.07 to mean 0.40±0.04 at a 30

Multi-drug resistant methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) strains that have been isolated frequently worldwide have difficulties in the treatment and therefore alternative choices for the treatment of the infections are required. The aim of the study was to evaluate the interaction of various antimicrobials in combination with vancomycin against MRSA.
Twenty five clinical MRSA strains isolated in 2016 were included in the study. The interaction between vancomycin and new generation/conventional antimicrobials against MRSA strains was analyzed by E-test.
All of the strains tested was found to be susceptible to vancomycin, telavancin, dalbavancin, ceptobiprole, daptomycin, linezolid, quinupristin-dalfopristin, trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole, rifampicin and tigecycline. The susceptibility rates of the isolates were found to be high, with the lowest rate (48%) against azithromycin. According to the fractional inhibitory concentration index results, synergistic interaction with vancomycin was determined with trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole, azithromycin, linezolid, minocycline, dalbavancin, clindamycin in five, three, two, two, one, one and one strain(s), respectively.

A multi-stage cross sectional cluster design study was implemented with the aim to establish the seroprevalence of zoonotic diseases including brucellosis, Q-fever and Rift Valley fever (RVF) in humans and livestock in Adadle Woreda of the Somali Region, Ethiopia. Blood samples were collected from humans and livestock and tested by relevant serological tests. For brucellosis, Rose Bengal test (RBT) and indirect ELISA was used for screening and confirmatory diagnosis respectively. Indirect and competitive ELISA were also used for Q-fever and RVF respectively. The individual seropositivity of Q-fever in livestock was 9.6% (95% CI 5.9-15.1) in cattle, 55.7% (95% CI 46.0-65.0) in camels, 48.8% (95% CI 42.5-55.0) in goats, and 28.9% (95% CI 25.0-33.2) in sheep. In humans, seropositivity of Q-fever was 27.0% (95% CI 20.4-34.0), with prevalence in males of 28.9% vs 24.2% in females (OR = 1.3; 95% Cbetween public and animal health sectors for further investigation on these zoonoses using the One Health concept is indispensable.
Current clinical evidence suggests that a well-planned physiotherapeutic scoliosis specific exercise (PSSE) program is effective for scoliosis regression.
We investigated the effect of curve patterns on Cobb angles with PSSE.
This was a non-randomized prospective clinical trial that recruited participants with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis between January and June 2017. Participants were grouped by curve pattern into major thoracic and major lumbar groups. An outpatient-based PSSE program was conducted with the following schedule of intensive exercise ≥ 1 session of supervised PSSE per month and > 30min of home exercise 5 days/week in the first 6 months, after which exercise frequency was reduced to 1 session of supervised PSSE every three months and > 30min of home exercise 5 days/week until 2 years after study initiation. Radiographic Cobb angle progressions were identified at the 1, 1.5 and 2-year follow-ups. A mixed model analysis of variance (ANOVA) was performed to examine the differences .068) at the 2-year follow-up.
This was the first study to investigate the long-term effects of PSSE in reducing Cobb angles on the basis of major curve location. No significant differences in correction were observed between major thoracic and major lumbar curves. A regression effect and no curve deterioration were noted in both groups at the 2-year follow-up.

Despite recent progress, the mechanisms responsible for the technique's effectiveness have yet to be fully elucidated. The purpose of the present study was to gain new insights into the interactions between STN-DBS and cortical network activity. We therefore combined high-resolution functional near-infrared spectroscopy with low-resolution electroencephalography in seven Parkinsonian patients on STN-DBS, and measured cortical haemodynamic changes at rest and during hand movement in the presence and absence of stimulation (the ON-stim and OFF-stim conditions, respectively) in the off-drug condition. The relative changes in oxyhaemoglobin [HbO], deoxyhaemoglobin [HbR], and total haemoglobin [HbT] levels were analyzed continuously. At rest, the [HbO], [HbR], and [HbT] over the bilateral sensorimotor (SM), premotor (PM) and dorsolateral prefrontal (DLPF) cortices decreased steadily throughout the duration of stimulation, relative to the OFF-stim condition. During hand movement in the OFF-stim condition, [HbO] increased and [HbR] decreased concomitantly over the contralateral SM cortex (as a result of neurovascular coupling), and [HbO], [HbR], and [HbT] increased concomitantly in the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC)-suggesting an increase in blood volume in this brain area. During hand movement with STN-DBS, the increase in [HbO] was over the contralateral SM and PM cortices was significantly lower than in the OFF-stim condition, as was the decrease in [HbO] and [HbT] in the DLPFC. Our results indicate that STN-DBS is associated with a reduction in blood volume over the SM, PM and DLPF cortices, regardless of whether or not the patient is performing a task. This particular effect on cortical networks might explain not only STN-DBS's clinical effectiveness but also some of the associated adverse effects.
High numbers of violence incidents against physicians are reported annually in both developing and developed countries. In Jordan, studies conducted on healthcare workers involved small number of physicians and showed higher percentages of violence exposure when compared to other investigations from the Middle East. This is a large study aiming to comprehensively analyze the phenomenon in the physicians' community to optimize future strategies countering it.
The study has a cross sectional, questionnaire-based design. It targeted 969 doctors from different types of healthcare Jordanian institutions in Amman, between May to July, 2019. The questionnaire was designed to evaluate properties of reported abuse cases in terms of abusers, timing, and type of abuse, in addition to the consequences of this abuse.
Prevalence of exposure to violence in the last year among doctors was 63.1% (611 doctors). 423 (67.2%) of male doctors had an experience of being abused during the last 12 months, compared to 188 (55.3% higher incidence of workplace abuse. Our results indicate that STN-DBS is associated with a reduction in blood volume over the SM, PM and DLPF cortices, regardless of whether or not the patient is performing a task. This particular effect on cortical networks might explain not only STN-DBS's clinical effectiveness but also some of the associated adverse effects. High numbers of violence incidents against physicians are reported annually in both developing and developed countries. In Jordan, studies conducted on healthcare workers involved small number of physicians and showed higher percentages of violence exposure when compared to other investigations from the Middle East. This is a large study aiming to comprehensively analyze the phenomenon in the physicians' community to optimize future strategies countering it. The study has a cross sectional, questionnaire-based design. It targeted 969 doctors from different types of healthcare Jordanian institutions in Amman, between May to July, 2019. The questionnaire was designed to evaluate properties of reported abuse cases in terms of abusers, timing, and type of abuse, in addition to the consequences of this abuse. Prevalence of exposure to violence in the last year among doctors was 63.1% (611 doctors). 423 (67.2%) of male doctors had an experience of being abused during the last 12 months, compared to 188 (55.3% higher incidence of workplace abuse. Therefore, strategies that ease and promote the real application of anti-violence policies should become our future target.Cryptococcal disease is estimated to affect nearly a quarter of a million people annually. Environmental isolates of Cryptococcus deneoformans, which make up 15 to 30% of clinical infections in temperate climates such as Europe, vary in their pathogenicity, ranging from benign to hyper-virulent. Key traits that contribute to virulence, such as the production of the pigment melanin, an extracellular polysaccharide capsule, and the ability to grow at human body temperature have been identified, yet little is known about the genetic basis of variation in such traits. Here we investigate the genetic basis of melanization, capsule size, thermal tolerance, oxidative stress resistance, and antifungal drug sensitivity using quantitative trait locus (QTL) mapping in progeny derived from a cross between two divergent C. deneoformans strains.
