E-cadherin, N-cadherin, and P-cadherin expression was evaluated by immunohistochemistry in a tissue microarray. RESULTS Low E-cadherin expression was associated with larger tumor size, lymphovascular invasion, higher pT stage, lymph node and distant metastasis, and higher stage. High N-cadherin expression was significantly associated with larger tumor size, higher nuclear grade, and tumor necrosis. P-cadherin expression was found to be significantly associated with higher nuclear grade, distant metastasis, and higher stage. Univariate analysis revealed that aberrant expression of the 3 cadherins was significantly related to shorter overall survival (OS).   • In the community co-dominated by A. michnoi and A. cristatam, A. michnoi improved its interspecific competitiveness by reducing C content in stems and roots and increasing the C content in leaves, while A. cristatem adapted to environmental changes by reducing root to shoot ratio and reproductive ratio. The index of stoichiometric homoeostasis of foliar N of A. michnoi in the single dominant community and the co-dominant community were 5.92 and 2.94, respectively, indicating higher N stability, while the index of stoichiometric homoeostasis plant of foliar P of A. cristatem in the single dominant community and the co-dominant community were 4.12 and 3.37, respectively, which indicated higher P stability.Under the background of global climate change, precipitation changes will have profound impacts on plant community dynamics. Through field experiment with precipitation manipulation in a desert steppe of western Loess Plateau, we examined the responses of species richness, density, coverage, height and aboveground biomass of different plant life-forms to precipitation changes. The results showed significant effects of precipitation on richness, density and coverage of annual herbs in the third year of manipulation experiment (2015), with lowest values in the decreased precipitation treatments. The height of annual herbs was more sensitive to precipitation changes, and was lowest in the -40% precipitation treatment during three years. The magnitudes of negative response of growth and aboveground biomass of annual herbs to decreased precipitation were larger than that to increased precipitation. Richness, density and coverage of perennial herbs in the decreased precipitation were significantly lower than those ubs were relatively less affected by precipitation changes. In the present work, thermally carbonized mesoporous silicon (TCPSi) microparticles and single-walled carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are conjugated to create a hybrid material that performs as the Li-ion battery anode better than the physical mixture of TCPSi and CNTs. It is found out that the way the conjugation is done has an essential role in the performance of the anode. The conjugation should be made between negatively charged TCPSi and positively charged CNTs. Based on the electrochemical experiments it is concluded that the positive charges, i.e., excess amine groups of the hybrid material interfere with the diffusion of the lithium cations and thus they should be removed from the anode. Analyses were done using logistic regression models, informed by a formal theoretical causal framework (Directed Acyclic Graph). 681 TB cases and 1183 controls were recruited. Tuberculosis odds were four times higher in subjects with education below GCSE O-levels, compared to higher education (OR = 3.94; 95%CI 2.74, 5.67), after adjusting for other TB risk factors (age, sex, BCG-vaccination and stays ≥3 months in Africa/Asia). When simultaneously accounting for respective SDHs, higher tuberculosis risk was independently associated with tobacco smoking, drugs use (especially injectable drugs OR = 5.67; 95%CI 2.68, 11.98), homelessness and area-level deprivation. Population Attributable Fraction estimates suggested that tobacco and class-A drug use were, respectively, responsible for 18% and 15% of TB cases in this group. Our findings suggest that socio-economic deprivation remains a driver of tuberculosis in England, including through drugs misuse, tobacco smoking, and homelessness. CSF was fractionated by ultrafiltration/size-exclusion chromatography (SEC) and eluted fractions were analysed by complementary techniques including immunoblotting, electron microscopy and nano-liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry. A fraction of 90 K appeared as nanoparticles of irregular shape with heterogeneous dimensions of 15-60 nm that co-eluted with extracellular vesicles in SEC. Median levels of 90 K quantified by ELISA were not different between ALS patients (215.8 ng/ml) and controls (213.3 ng/ml) in contrast with the benchmark biomarker for ALS phosphoneurofilament heavy chain (1750 and 345 pg/ml, respectively).

In the present work, thermally carbonized mesoporous silicon (TCPSi) microparticles and single-walled carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are conjugated to create a hybrid material that performs as the Li-ion battery anode better than the physical mixture of TCPSi and CNTs. It is found out that the way the conjugation is done has an essential role in the performance of the anode. The conjugation should be made between negatively charged TCPSi and positively charged CNTs. Based on the electrochemical experiments it is concluded that the positive charges, i.e., excess amine groups of the hybrid material interfere with the diffusion of the lithium cations and thus they should be removed from the anode. Through the saturation of the excess positive amine groups on the CNTs with succinic anhydride, the performance of the hybrid material is even further enhanced.Addressing social determinants of tuberculosis (TB) is essential to achieve elimination, including in low-incidence settings.   • Hyponatremia associated with low-dose trimethoprim in patients on concomitant systemic corticosteroid therapy has rarely been reported. Here, we describe a 57-year-old woman with a history of diabetes mellitus and hypertension treated with telmisartan, who presented with progressive visual impairment of the left eye due to anti-aquaporin-4 antibody-positive optic neuritis. The patient received pulsed intravenous methylprednisolone followed by oral prednisolone at 30 mg/day and trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole prophylaxis (160 mg and 800 mg daily). Her serum sodium level steadily decreased, and the potassium level was slightly elevated despite well-preserved renal function. This state persisted even after telmisartan discontinuation. In addition to hypotonic hyponatremia (125 mEq/L) with natriuresis, hyperkalemic renal tubular acidosis was diagnosed based on normal anion gap metabolic acidosis and hyperkalemia with low urinary potassium excretion. After trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole cessation, electrolytes and acid-base imbalances swiftly recovered. We can conclude that caution must be exercised when treating such patients, because even low-dose trimethoprim may cause hyponatremia concomitant with hyperkalemic renal tubular acidosis, despite the mineralocorticoid effects of systemic corticosteroids.The biological active compound rishirilide B is produced by Streptomyces bottropensis. The cosmid cos4 contains the complete rishirilide B biosynthesis gene cluster. Its heterologous expression in the host Streptomyces albus J1074 led to the production of rishirilide B as a major compound and to small amounts of rishirilide A, rishirilide D and lupinacidin A. In order to gain more insights into the biosynthesis, gene inactivation experiments and gene expression experiments were carried out. This study lays the focus on the functional elucidation of the genes involved in the early biosynthetic pathway. A total of eight genes were deleted and six gene cassettes were generated. Rishirilide production was not strongly affected by mutations in rslO2, rslO6 and rslH. The deletion of rslK4 and rslO3 led to the formation of polyketides with novel structures. These results indicated that RslK4 and RslO3 are involved in the generation or selection of the starter unit for rishirilide biosynthesis. In the rslO10 mutant strain, two novel compounds were detected, which were also produced by a strain containing solely the genes rslK1, rslK2, rslK3, rslK4, and rslA. rslO1 and rslO4 mutants predominately produce galvaquinones. Therefore, the ketoreductase RslO10 is involved in an early step of rishirilide biosynthesis and the oxygenases RslO1 and RslO4 are most probably acting on an anthracene moiety. This study led to the functional elucidation of several genes of the rishirilide pathway, including rslK4, which is involved in selecting the unusual starter unit for polyketide synthesis.Gene doping, an activity which abuses and misuses gene therapy, is a major concern in sports and horseracing industries. Pertinent variables were presented through a radar plot for both individual cases and groups. RESULTS The boys showed better endurance and recorded more moderate to vigorous physical activity than the girls. The activity level dropped from age 6 to age 12 for both sexes. The girls showed a lower systolic blood pressure compared with boys. Self-rated quality of life was high among boys and girls. CONCLUSIONS This cohort showed good health and the radar plot made it easy to visualise health status for groups and individuals.Background Despite the fact that tobacco use during pregnancy produces adverse perinatal effects, some women continue to smoke. Health literacy (HL) is essential for health outcomes in adults. However, little is known about HL in pregnant women or postpartum women. The study aimed to analyse the relationship between the degree of HL of women during the early puerperium and tobacco use during pregnancy. METHODS A multicentre, descriptive, cross-sectional study was carried out with women in the early puerperium in a region of eastern Spain, between November 2017 and May 2018. Their HL level was obtained using the Newest Vital Sign (NVS) tool. Multivariate logistic models were adjusted to estimate the magnitude of association with tobacco use in pregnancy. Odds ratios (OR) were estimated with a 95% confidence interval. RESULTS 193 were included in the total. 29.5% (57) of pregnant women smoked tobacco during pregnancy, with a smoking cessation rate of 70.1% (40) while pregnant. 42.0% (81) of pregnant women had inadequate or limited HL.

The World Health Organization estimates that the prevalence of anaemia in pregnancy varies from 53.8% to 90.2% in developing countries and 8.3% to 23% in developed countries. Anaemia in pregnancy is common in developing countries and prevalence statistics required for its effective management and control is not adequately available in Nigeria. Thus, this study seeks to provide prevalence statistics of anaemia in pregnancy for the study region and its severity and highlight some possible correlates. Methods A total of 218 pregnant women were recruited from the antenatal clinic of Central Hospital Warri using simple random technique after approval from the institutional review board and consent from the participants. Data on sociodemographics, economic status, and clinical history were collected using a pretested structured interviewer's questionnaire. Participant's haematoge, no formal education, and unemployment were highlighted to be predisposing factors.Phellinus gilvus (Schwein.) Pat, a species of 'Sanghuang', has been well-documented for various medicinal uses, but the genome information and active constituents are largely unknown. Here, we sequenced the whole-genome of P. gilvus, identified phenylpropanoids as its key anti-cancer components, and deduced their biosynthesis pathways. A 41.11-Mb genome sequence was assembled and the heatmap created with high-throughput chromosome conformation capture techniques data suggested all bins could be clearly divided into 11 pseudochromosomes. Cellular experiments showed that P. gilvus fruiting body was more effective to inhibit hepatocellular carcinoma cells than mycelia. High resolution electrospray ionization mass spectroscopy (HR-ESI-MS) analysis revealed P. gilvus fruiting body was rich in phenylpropanoids, and several unique phenylpropanoids in Phellinus spp. exhibited potent anti-carcinogenesis activity. Based on genomic, HR-ESI-MS information and differentially expressed genes in transcriptome analysis, we deduced the biosynthesis pathway of four major phenylpropanoids in P. gilvus. Transcriptome analysis revealed the deduced genes expressions were synergistically changed with the production of phenylpropanoids. The optimal candidate genes of phenylpropanoids' synthesis pathway were screened by molecular docking analysis. Overall, our results provided a high-quality genomic data of P. gilvus and inferred biosynthesis pathways of four phenylpropanoids with potent anti-carcinogenesis activities. Case presentation We report a case of a 24-year-old male patient, previously diagnosed as having GPA, admitted with fever, hemoptysis, generalized hemorrhagic blisters associated with arthralgia, fatigue, myalgia, nasal crusting, and vertigo. Three weeks prior to admission, he developed erythematous papules on both elbows, and purpuric papules on both lower limbs. Histopathological examination revealed interstitial granulomatous dermatitis (elbows) and foci of dermal hemorrhage, foci of interstitial histiocytes and zones of altered necrobiotic collagen (lower limbs) consistent with cutaneous lesions of GPA. Two weeks later, his rash progressed to widespread purpura associated with hemorrhagic blisters. Another biopsy revealed leukocytoclastic vasculitis with fibrinoid necrosis of the vessel walls associated with perivascular infiltrate of neutrophils, nuclear dust and extravasated erythrocytes without an associated granulomatous inflammation or necrobiosis. The World Health Organization estimates that the prevalence of anaemia in pregnancy varies from 53.8% to 90.2% in developing countries and 8.3% to 23% in developed countries. Anaemia in pregnancy is common in developing countries and prevalence statistics required for its effective management and control is not adequately available in Nigeria. Thus, this study seeks to provide prevalence statistics of anaemia in pregnancy for the study region and its severity and highlight some possible correlates. Methods A total of 218 pregnant women were recruited from the antenatal clinic of Central Hospital Warri using simple random technique after approval from the institutional review board and consent from the participants. Data on sociodemographics, economic status, and clinical history were collected using a pretested structured interviewer's questionnaire. Participant's haematoge, no formal education, and unemployment were highlighted to be predisposing factors.Phellinus gilvus (Schwein.) Pat, a species of 'Sanghuang', has been well-documented for various medicinal uses, but the genome information and active constituents are largely unknown. Here, we sequenced the whole-genome of P. gilvus, identified phenylpropanoids as its key anti-cancer components, and deduced their biosynthesis pathways. A 41.11-Mb genome sequence was assembled and the heatmap created with high-throughput chromosome conformation capture techniques data suggested all bins could be clearly divided into 11 pseudochromosomes. Cellular experiments showed that P. gilvus fruiting body was more effective to inhibit hepatocellular carcinoma cells than mycelia. High resolution electrospray ionization mass spectroscopy (HR-ESI-MS) analysis revealed P. gilvus fruiting body was rich in phenylpropanoids, and several unique phenylpropanoids in Phellinus spp. exhibited potent anti-carcinogenesis activity. Based on genomic, HR-ESI-MS information and differentially expressed genes in transcriptome analysis, we deduced the biosynthesis pathway of four major phenylpropanoids in P. gilvus. Transcriptome analysis revealed the deduced genes expressions were synergistically changed with the production of phenylpropanoids. The optimal candidate genes of phenylpropanoids' synthesis pathway were screened by molecular docking analysis. Overall, our results provided a high-quality genomic data of P. gilvus and inferred biosynthesis pathways of four phenylpropanoids with potent anti-carcinogenesis activities. Case presentation We report a case of a 24-year-old male patient, previously diagnosed as having GPA, admitted with fever, hemoptysis, generalized hemorrhagic blisters associated with arthralgia, fatigue, myalgia, nasal crusting, and vertigo. Three weeks prior to admission, he developed erythematous papules on both elbows, and purpuric papules on both lower limbs. Histopathological examination revealed interstitial granulomatous dermatitis (elbows) and foci of dermal hemorrhage, foci of interstitial histiocytes and zones of altered necrobiotic collagen (lower limbs) consistent with cutaneous lesions of GPA. Two weeks later, his rash progressed to widespread purpura associated with hemorrhagic blisters. Another biopsy revealed leukocytoclastic vasculitis with fibrinoid necrosis of the vessel walls associated with perivascular infiltrate of neutrophils, nuclear dust and extravasated erythrocytes without an associated granulomatous inflammation or necrobiosis. The constellation of the results of the three biopsies together with clinical correlation pointed to a flare of GPA. Most previous matrix factorization-based MVRL methods are shallow models that neglect the complex hierarchical information. The recently proposed deep multiview factorization models cannot explicitly capture consistency and complementarity in multiview data. We present the deep multiview concept learning (DMCL) method, which hierarchically factorizes the multiview data, and tries to explicitly model consistent and complementary information and capture semantic structures at the highest abstraction level. Specifically, a channelwise gate is designed to randomly enable or disable each channel so that the conditional accuracy changes (CACs) can be estimated under the condition of each channel disabled. Practically, we construct two effective and efficient criteria to dynamically estimate CAC at each iteration of training; thus, unimportant channels can be gradually pruned during the training process. Finally, extensive experiments on multiple data sets (i.e., ImageNet, CIFAR, and MNIST) with various networks (i.e., ResNet, VGG, and MLP) demonstrate that the proposed method effectively reduces the parameters and computations of baseline network while yielding the higher or competitive accuracy. Interestingly, if we Double the initial Channels and then Prune Half (DCPH) of them to baseline's counterpart, it can enjoy a remarkable performance improvement by shaping a more desirable structure.Our previous study has constructed a deep learning model for predicting gastrointestinal infection morbidity based on environmental pollutant indicators in some regions in central China. This article aims to adapt the prediction model for three purposes 1) predicting the morbidity of a different disease in the same region; 2) predicting the morbidity of the same disease in a different region; and 3) predicting the morbidity of a different disease in a different region. We propose a tridirectional transfer learning approach, which achieves the abovementioned three purposes by 1) developing a combined univariate regression and multivariate Gaussian model for establishing the relationship between the morbidity of the target disease and that of the source disease together with the high-level pollutant features in the current source region; 2) using mapping-based deep transfer learning to extend the current model to predict the morbidity of the source disease in both source and target regions; and 3) applying the pattern of the combined model in the source region to the extended model to derive a new combined model for predicting the morbidity of the target disease in the target region. We select gastric cancer as the target disease and use the proposed transfer learning approach to predict its morbidity in the source region and three target regions. The results show that, given only a limited number of labeled samples, our approach achieves an average prediction accuracy of over 80% in the source region and up to 78% in the target regions, which can contribute considerably to improving medical preparedness and response.A least squares support vector machine (LS-SVM) offers performance comparable to that of SVMs for classification and regression. To obtain sparse LS-SVM, several pruning methods based on an iterative strategy were recently proposed but did not consider the quantity constraint on the number of reserved support vectors, as widely used in real-life applications. In this article, a noniterative algorithm is proposed based on the selection of globally representative points (global-representation-based sparse least squares support vector machine, GRS-LSSVM) to improve the performance of sparse LS-SVM. For the first time, we present a model of sparse LS-SVM with a quantity constraint. In solving the optimal solution of the model, we find that using globally representative points to construct the reserved support vector set produces a better solution than other methods. We design an indicator based on point density and point dispersion to evaluate the global representation of points in feature space. Using the indicator, the top globally representative points are selected in one step from all points to construct the reserved support vector set of sparse LS-SVM. After obtaining the set, the decision hyperplane of sparse LS-SVM is directly computed using an algebraic formula. This algorithm only consumes O(N2) in computational complexity and O(N) in memory cost which makes it suitable for large-scale data sets. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm has higher sparsity, greater stability, and lower computational complexity than the traditional iterative algorithms.In machine learning, it is common to interpret each data sample as a multivariate vector disregarding the correlations among covariates. However, the data may actually be functional, i.e., each data point is a function of some variable, such as time, and the function is discretely sampled. The naive treatment of functional data as traditional multivariate data can lead to poor performance due to the correlations. In this article, we focus on subspace clustering for functional data or curves and propose a new method robust to shift and rotation. The idea is to define a function or curve and all its versions generated by shift and rotation as an equivalent class and then to find the subspace structure among all equivalent classes as the surrogate for all curves. Experimental evaluation on synthetic and real data reveals that this method massively outperforms prior clustering methods in both speed and accuracy when clustering functional data.

Deciphering the complex biochemical pathway that describes the activity of such enzymes requires an exquisite spatiotemporal resolution. Magnetic tweezers are a powerful single molecule force spectroscopy technique that uses a camera-based detection to enable the simultaneous observation of hundreds of nucleic acid tethered magnetic beads at a constant force with subnanometer resolution [1,2]. High spatiotemporal resolution magnetic tweezers have recently been reported [3-5]. We present data acquired using a bespoke magnetic tweezers instrument that is able to perform either in high throughput or at high resolution. The data reports on the best achievable resolution for surface-attached polystyrene beads and DNA tethered magnetic beads, and highlights the influence of mechanical stability for such assay. We also present data where we are able to detect 0.3 nm steps along the z-axis using DNA tethered magnetic beads. This data article provides an overview of the content of the 90 items, which type of maltreatment they reflect, and the source of the items. The percentage of mothers labelling each of the MQS items as maltreatment is also presented. In addition, instructions are included about the administration of the MQS as well as data-entry and analyses of Q-sort data, accompanied by example datasets and syntaxes. The quantum chemical calculation was completed in Q-Chem software package. Geometric and energetic data of the compounds are presented in this paper as supplementary tables. Transcriptomic data of this species can be used in public and animal health studies given its role as a natural reservoir host for avian influenza, which can be a zoonotic disease of high concern. Ileum and bursa of Fabricius tissues were sampled from six captive raised blue-winged teals, four of the six who were experimentally infected with low-pathogenic avian influenza virus H5N9. RNAseq data were generated from extracted total mRNA from each tissue and pooled to create a de novo assembly of the transcriptome using Trinity. A total of 571,105 transcripts were identified at 449,956 unique unigenes that have been functionally annotated. This transcriptome will be useful for future blue-winged teal gene expression research, especially in hypothesis driven differential expression studies to determine the driving forces of avian influenza host-pathogen interactions, spatial distribution, and transmission.

Transcriptomic data of this species can be used in public and animal health studies given its role as a natural reservoir host for avian influenza, which can be a zoonotic disease of high concern. Ileum and bursa of Fabricius tissues were sampled from six captive raised blue-winged teals, four of the six who were experimentally infected with low-pathogenic avian influenza virus H5N9. RNAseq data were generated from extracted total mRNA from each tissue and pooled to create a de novo assembly of the transcriptome using Trinity. A total of 571,105 transcripts were identified at 449,956 unique unigenes that have been functionally annotated. This transcriptome will be useful for future blue-winged teal gene expression research, especially in hypothesis driven differential expression studies to determine the driving forces of avian influenza host-pathogen interactions, spatial distribution, and transmission.

Agreement were examined using intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) and Bland-Altman plots. The ability of the EQ-5D utilities in differentiating the patients with and without clinical conditions was evaluated using F-statistics. Their influence on QALY estimation was assessed adopting mean absolute difference (MAD) in utility values between the patients. Results The ICC values were 0.881 (3L2014-3L2018), 0.958 (5L-c5L2014), and 0.806 (5L-c5L2018). The two 3L utilities and the three 5L utilities had poor agreement at the lower end of utility scale according to Bland-Altman plots. The 3L2018 utilities had lower F-statistics compared to the 3L2014 utilities; the two c5L utilities had larger or similar F-statistics compared to the 5L utilities. The mean MADs were 0.138 (5L), 0.116 (3L2014), 0.115 (c5L2014), 0.055 (c5L2018), and 0.055 (3L2018). Augmenting existing overdose prevention initiatives in rural Appalachia such that rural PWID have access to FTS may result in reductions in overdose fatalities.Congenital hyperinsulinemic hypoglycemia is the most frequent cause of persistent and recurrent hypoglycemia in the first years of life and in many patients rare genetic variants can be identified. Recently a case of congenital hyperinsulinemic hypoglycemia and a severe neurodevelopmental syndrome due to a mutation in the voltage-gated Cav1.3 Ca2+ channel CACNA1D gene has been reported which required long-term treatment with diazoxide. This suggested CACNA1D variants as a potential cause for this condition.Here we support this observation by presenting the case of a female child with congential hyperinsulinemic hypoglycemia and primary hyperaldosteronism, aortic insufficiency, pronounced developmental delay, muscle hypotonia, and facial dysmorphias but without seizures. Sequencing of the exome of the child and its parents identified a novel de novo CACNA1D missense mutation p.L271 H, replacing a highly conserved residue in a functionally relevant region of the voltage-gated Cav1.3 Ca2+ channel. The patient was treated with diazoxide and nifedipine with adequate control of glucose metabolism and blood pressure, and with improvement in muscle tone.Our findings further confirm the pathogenic role of CACNA1D for congentital hyperinsulinemic hypoglycemia and primary aldosteronism. Cell culture was performed at different temperature, buffering conditions, and varied concentrations of additives such as pyruvic acid, insulin, GlutaMAX, and sodium butyrate. Results indicated that the optimal temperature and pH were 37 °C and 7.2, respectively. Also, optimal concentrations for pyruvic acid, butyrate, glutamate, and insulin were obtained to be 20 mM, 1 mM, 2 mM, and 40 μg/mL, respectively. Then, cell culture was performed in microcarrier-coated spinner flasks under the optimized condition. The results showed recombinant human EPO (rhEPO) production with adequate purity. Optimization of physicochemical conditions and culture media are important factors to improve the quantity and quality of protein products. This study showed that cell growth and recombinant EPO protein production significantly increased under the optimized conditions. Aim of investigation was to assess the species diversity of the microbiota of the genital tract of men and women with suspected acute genital gonococcal infection (AGGI) using test systems of Russian manufacturers. A study of samples of the contents of the urethra of 69 men and posterior vaginal fornix fluids of 33 women of reproductive age with characteristic clinical manifestations and a presumptive diagnosis of AGGI was made. Cultivation was carried out using elective culture media with subsequent identification of strains by biochemical properties. Detection of DNA of Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp., Enterobacteriaceae, Gardnerella vaginalis, Atopobium vaginae, Lactobacillus spp. performed by PCR using Vektor-Best and InterLab Service kits (Russia). For all 13 genes, an increase in the level of methylation was revealed during the transition from unchanged tissue to primary tumors and further from primary tumors to peritoneal metastases; moreover, in the genes MIR-203a, MIR-375 and MIR-339, the level of methylation in metastases increased most significantly (in 2 and more times). A correlation was observed for the first time, showing a consistency between the increase in methylation level in some miRNA pairs, for example, MIR-129-2/MIR-132 (rs> 0,7; p less then 0,0001), both in primary tumors and in metastases. An analysis of microRNA gene methylation in clinical samples of ovarian cancer showed a correlation between the observed molecular changes both with the initial stages of tumor formation and with the progression and dissemination of ovarian cancer, with the presence of metastases in a large omentum and with the appearance of ascites. The revealed dependencies deepen the understanding of the mechanism of peritoneal metastasis and can be used to select new diagnostic and prognostic markers of ovarian cancer.More and more publications appear in the modern literature on the increase in the prevalence of non-tuberculous mycobacteria (NTMs), in particular, representatives of M. chelonae / Mycobacterium abscessus complex (MABSc). The paper presents data on the current classification of M. chelonae / Mycobacterium abscessus complex and its main representatives. The main data on the possible sources and ways of infection of MABSc patients in hospital are presented. The main features of cultivation on various nutrient media and their possible identification using modern methods are also indicated. The main risk factors for the development of mycobacteriosis in patients and the possible clinical picture are described. The prevalence of MABSc representatives in the structure of non-tuberculous mycobacteria isolated from clinical material from 483 patients from the Samara region was assessed for examination for tuberculosis, and the prevalence from 933 patients with cystic fibrosis (CF) from 55 regions of the Russian Federation from 2016 to 2019 was estimated. In total, as a result of the study, 316 NTM strains (65.4%) were isolated and identified in the first group of patients. M.abscessus was isolated and identified 10 strains and 5 strains - M.chelonae, which amounted to 3.2% and 1.6%, respectively, of all NTMs. In general, MABSc representatives were isolated in 3.1% of the examined patients. As a result of a screening study of patients with CF, 14194 microorganism strains from 933 patients were isolated and identified. Altogether M. abscessus was isolated and confirmed from 14 patients of different ages. Thus, the prevalence of MABSc among the examined patients with CF in the Russian Federation was 1.5%.

The purpose of study is to demonstrate the diagnostic value of PCR diagnostics for identifying the genetic material of an infectious pathogen of a culture-negative periprosthetic infection. Material of the study is a description of a clinical case of a culture-negative periprosthetic infection that caused a second two-stage revision of the hip joint prosthesis In the first episode of PPI that occurred 3 years after hip replacement, a microbiological examination of the puncture of the trochanteric zone of the operated joint reveale first PCR study, the patient's body does not contain DNA traces of the desired infectious agent. Thus, the repeated PCR not only confirmed the accuracy of the initial diagnosis of the source of infection, but also further illustrated the success of the rehabilitation of the periprosthetic infection using a correctly selected antibacterial drug at the previous stage of the study.
