The crucial role played by the solution-vapor interface in determining the growth and morphology of an organic semiconductor thin film formed by solvent evaporation has been examined in atomic detail. Specifically, how the loss of individual solvent molecules from the surface of the solution induces solute assembly has been studied using molecular dynamics simulations. The system consisted of bis(2-phenylpyridine) (acetylacetonate)iridium(III) [Ir(ppy)2(acac)] and 4,4'-bis(N-carbazolyl)-1,1'-biphenyl (CBP) in chloroform at 310 K. The simulations clearly indicate that (a) the system does not undergo uniform phase separation (spinodal decomposition), (b) solute aggregation initiates at the solution-vapor interface, (c) the distribution of solvent in the film is nonhomogeneous, (d) this nonhomogeneous distribution can induce preferential alignment of host molecules, and (e) a portion of the solvent likely remains trapped within the film. The work not only demonstrates the ability to directly model evaporation in atomic detail on the relevant length scales but also shows that atomistic simulations have the potential to shed new light on morphological properties of a wide range of organic semiconductor devices manufactured using solution-processing methods.For membrane transporters, substrate uptake and release reactions are major events during their transport cycles. Here, a Na+-selective membrane, which consists of polyvinyl chloride and a Na+ ionophore, was employed to detect Na+ uptake and release. When one side of the membrane was covered by the lipid-reconstituted NaR, continuous illumination induced an increase in membrane potential, which reflected Na+ uptake by the photolyzed NaR. Via use of nanosecond laser pulses, two kinds of data were obtained during a single transport cycle one was the flash-induced absorbance change in NaR to detect the formation and decay of structural intermediates, and the other was the flash-induced change in membrane potential, which reflects the transient Na+ uptake and release reactions. Their comparison clearly indicated that Na+ is captured and released during the formation and decay of the O intermediate, the red-shifted intermediate that appears in the latter half of the transport cycle.Nanozymes are artificial enzymes, which can substitute traditional biological enzymes for multifield applications. However, to date, it remains challenging to search novel mimic enzymes or multienzyme mimics. Herein, a facile and green method for preparing monodisperse, homogeneous copper nanoclusters (Cu NCs) with smaller size was developed, which used cysteamine as a template and hydrazine hydrate as a reductant to reduce Cu2+. The as-prepared Cu NCs exhibited excellent tetraenzyme-like activities, including peroxidase (POD)-, catalase (CAT)-, superoxide dismutase (***)-, and ascorbic acid oxidase (AAO)-mimic activities. The mechanisms, kinetics, and catalytic performances of Cu NCs were systematically studied. Moreover, based on the POD-like activity of Cu NCs, sensitive and simple colorimetric sensing glutathione (GSH) was explored, with the low limit of detection of 0.89 μM GSH (S/N = 3). Additionally, a novel fluorimetric ascorbic acid (AA) sensor was developed with the linear range of 0.5-30 μM and limit of detection (LOD) of 0.144 μM, on the basis of the principle that AA is oxidized to dehydroascorbic acid (DHAA) specifically catalyzed by the AAO-like activity of Cu NCs, while DHAA can further react with o-phenylenediamine (OPDA) to generate a highly fluorescent quinoxaline (DFQ) derivative. The as-proposed colorimetric GSH sensor and the fluorimetric AA sensor were capable of detecting GSH and AA, respectively, in real samples accurately and reproducibly. Virtual reality (VR) is a technology that has shown promise in offering procedural analgesia. We undertook a clinical pilot to assess the viability of VR to reduce pain during ECV. In an open randomised controlled trial (RCT), we randomised 50 women to either VR or standard care each (25 per group). Women receiving VR were administered VR content (Skylights) via a headset. Pre- and post-procedural measures of pain, anxiety, device experience and vital signs were measured. There were no significant differences between groups (VR/no VR) in pain scores (60.68 vs 49.76; p = 0.2), ECV success rates (80% vs 76%; p = 0.7) or anxiety levels. The women receiving VR had a significantly higher anticipation of pain pre-procedurally (70.0 vs 50.0; p = 0.03). 20 (80%) of the VR women indicated that they would use VR again and 22 (88%) indicated they would recommend it to a friend having ECV. There were no significant differences between groups for side effects encountered or changes in vital signs. The simulations are also used to understand experimentally measured Jc(θ) curves for BaHfO3, BaZrO3 and BaSnO3 doped YBCO thin films with the help of nanorod parameters obtained from transmission electron microscopy measurements. Our simulations reveal that the relation between applied and matching field plays a crucial role in the formation of Jc(θ)-peak around YBCO c-axis (c-peak) due to vortex-vortex interactions. We also find how different concentrations of different size nanorods effect the shape of the c-peak and explain how different features, such as double c-peak structures, arise. In addition to this, we have quantitatively explained that, even in an ideal superconductor, the overdoping of nanorods results in decrease of the critical current. Our results can be widely used to understand and predict the critical current anisotropy of YBCO thin films to improve and develop new pinscapes for various transport applications.Cheese microbiota and metabolites and their inter-relationships that underpin specific cheese quality attributes remain poorly understood. Our study into different brands of artisanal and industrial cheddar cheeses showed that Streptococcus, Lactococcus and Lactobacillus were the dominant taxa with overall microbial community structures differing not only between industrial and artisanal cheeses but also among different cheese brands. Metabolome analysis also revealed qualitative and semi-quantitative differences in metabolites between different cheeses. This also included the presence of two compounds (3-hydroxy propanoic acid and O-methoxycatechol-O-sulphate) in artisanal cheese that have not been previously reported in any type of cheese. Integrative analysis of multi-omics datasets revealed that highly similar cheeses, identical in age and appearance, could be distinctively clustered according to cheese type and brand. Furthermore, the analysis detected strong relationships, some previously unknown, which existed between the cheese microbiota and metabolome, and uncovered specific taxa and metabolites that contributed to these relationships. Here, we demonstrate that a novel and translationally relevant hexavalent TRAIL receptor agonist, IZI1551, in combination with Birinapant, a clinically tested IAP antagonist, efficiently induces cell death in various melanoma models, and that responsiveness can be predicted by combining pathway analysis, data-driven modelling and pattern recognition. Across a panel of 16 melanoma cell lines, responsiveness to IZI1551/Birinapant was heterogeneous, with complete resistance and pronounced synergies observed. Expression patterns of TRAIL pathway regulators allowed us to develop a combinatorial marker that predicts potent cell killing with high accuracy. IZI1551/Birinapant responsiveness could be predicted not only for cell lines, but also for 3D tumour cell spheroids and for cells directly isolated from patient melanoma metastases (80-100% prediction accuracies). Mathematical parameter reduction identified 11 proteins crucial to ensure prediction accuracy, with x-linked inhibitor of apoptosis protein (XIAP) and procaspase-3 scoring highest, and Bcl-2 family members strongly represented. Applied to expression data of a cohort of n = 365 metastatic melanoma patients in a proof of concept in silico trial, the predictor suggested that IZI1551/Birinapant responsiveness could be expected for up to 30% of patient tumours. Overall, response frequencies in melanoma models were very encouraging, and the capability to predict melanoma sensitivity to combinations of latest generation TRAIL-based therapeutics and IAP antagonists can address the need for patient selection strategies in clinical trials based on these novel drugs.

Overall, deep learning classifiers such as LSTM-CNN had superior performance and had the added advantage of requiring no preprocessing. Strategies to improve medication adherence are widespread in the literature; however, their impact is limited in real practice. Few patients persistently engage long-term to improve health outcomes, even when they are aware of the consequences of poor adherence. Despite the potential of mobile phone apps as a tool to manage medication adherence, there is still limited evidence of the impact of these innovative interventions. Real-world evidence can assist in minimizing this evidence gap.
The objective of this study was to analyze the impact over time of a previously implemented digital therapeutic mobile app on medication adherence rates in adults with any chronic condition.
A retrospective observational study was performed to assess the adherence rates of patients with any chronic condition using Perx Health, a digital therapeutic that uses multiple components within a mobile health app to improve medication adherence. These components include gamification, dosage reminders, incentives, educational com0.635, P=.728). Similarly, the timing adherence analysis revealed stable trends with no significant changes over time.

The objective of this study is to explore factors associated with self-reported use of tablets or smartphones to support medical decision making in a nationally representative sample of US adults.
Cross-sectional data from participants in the 2018 Health Information National Trends Survey (HINTS 5, Cycle 2) were evaluated. There were 3504 responses in the full HINTS 5 Cycle 2 data set; 2321 remained after eliminating respondents who did not have complete data for all the variables of interest. Sociodemographic factors including gender, race/ethnicity, and education were evaluated. Additionally, mobile health (mHealth)- and electronic health (eHealth)-related factors were evaluated including (1)ition for which a tablet or smartphone helped people make a decision or the type of decision made (eg, surgery, medication changes). In US adults, mHealth and eHealth use, and also certain sociodemographic factors are associated with using tablets or smartphones to support medical decision making. Findings from this study may inform future mHealth and other digital health interventions designed to support medical decision making.

Shotgun metagenomics was performed on seven chorionic villi samples. We showed that the isolation of meaningful quantities of viable bacteria or bacterial DNA was possible only outside the placenta (fetal membranes and umbilical cords) highlighting the importance of sampling methods in studying the in utero environment. Bacterial communities described by metagenomics analysis were similar in chorionic villi samples and in negative controls and were dependent on the database chosen for the analysis. We conclude that the placenta does not harbor a specific, consistent and functional microbiota.
Psychological distress in medical students is a global issue and poses a risk to their health, academic performance, and ability to care for patients as clinicians. There has been limited research on psychological distress levels in students prior to starting medicine and no direct comparison between undergraduate and graduate-entry students.
Psychological distress was assessed using the 21-item Depression Anxiety and Stress Scale in 168 undergraduate-entry and 84 graduate-entry medical students at two separated campuses of the same university in the orientation week prior to starting classes. Mean scores and severity proportions were compared between the two cohorts of students. Demographic data was also collected and compared to distress scores using subgroup analysis.
The response rate for the study was 60.9%. The majority of undergraduate and graduate-entry medical students were within the normal limits for depression (67.2% versus 70.2%, p = 0.63), anxiety (56.5% versus 44.0%, p = 0.06), and stressentry students. There are several limitation of this study but the results suggest that education and intervention may be required to support students from the earliest weeks of medical school.
The majority of medical students enter medical school with normal levels of psychological distress. However, a large number of undergraduate and graduate-entry medical students have significant levels of depressive, anxiety, and stress levels, without a significant difference between undergraduate or graduate-entry students. There are several limitation of this study but the results suggest that education and intervention may be required to support students from the earliest weeks of medical school.
Selective dorsal rhizotomy (SDR) has gained interest as an intervention to reduce spasticity and pain, and improve quality of life and mobility in children with cerebral palsy mainly affecting the legs (diplegia). We evaluated the cost-effectiveness of SDR in England.
Cost-effectiveness was quantified with respect to Gross Motor Function Measure (GMFM-66) and the pain dimension of the Cerebral Palsy Quality of Life questionnaire for Children (CPQOL-Child). Data on outcomes following SDR over two years were drawn from a national evaluation in England which included 137 children, mean age 6.6 years at surgery. Additionally, we tested whether an episodic specificity induction, which increases episodic detail during deliberate retrieval of events in young and older adults, has the same effect under spontaneous retrieval. Twenty-four younger and 24 healthy older adults performed two counterbalanced sessions including a video, the episodic specificity or control induction, and a vigilance task. In the episodic specificity induction, participants recalled the details of the video while in the control they solved math exercises. The impact of this manipulation on the episodic specificity of spontaneous thoughts was assessed in the subsequent vigilance task, in which participants were randomly stopped to describe their thoughts and classify them as deliberate/spontaneous. We found no differences in episodic specificity between age groups in spontaneous thoughts, supporting the prediction that automatic retrieval attenuates the episodic specificity decrease in aging. The lack of age differences was present regardless of the induction, showing no interactions. For the induction, we also found no main effect, indicating that automatic retrieval bypasses event construction and accesses pre-stored events. Overall, our evidence suggests that spontaneous retrieval is a promising strategy to support episodic specificity in aging.Studying the isotope variability in fast-growing human tissues (e.g., hair, nails) is a powerful tool to investigate human nutrition. However, interpreting the controls of this isotopic variability at the population scale is often challenging as multiple factors can superimpose on the isotopic signals of a current population. Here, we analyse carbon, nitrogen, and sulphur isotopes in hair from 590 Canadian resident volunteers along with demographics, dietary and geographic information about each participant. We use a series of machine-learning regressions to demonstrate that the isotopic values in Canadian residents' hair are not only influenced by dietary choices but by geographic controls. First, we show that isotopic values in Canadian residents' hair have a limited range of variability consistent with the homogenization of Canadian dietary habits (as in other industrialized countries). As expected, some of the isotopic variability within the population correlates with recorded individual dietary choices. More interestingly, some regional spatial patterns emerge from carbon and sulphur isotope variations.

Bretylium, with an extensive pharmacologic and medicinal history, was approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration in 1986 for "short-term prevention and treatment of ventricular fibrillation (VF) and treatment of life-threatening ventricular arrhythmias and ventricular tachycardia (VT) unresponsive to adequate doses of a first-line antiarrhythmic agent, such as lidocaine." The NDA sponsor withdrew bretylium from the market in 2011, largely due to unavailability of raw materials required for its production; prior to this, bretylium was removed from the 2000 ACLS Guidelines algorithm for VF/pulseless VT given the challenges obtaining raw materials for drug manufacture. Recently, bretylium has been reintroduced into the US market by a generic pharmaceutical company with the same indications as before. This article provides a history of the salient trials evaluating the efficacy and safety of bretylium and looks to the future as bretylium finds its place in the modern day management of ventricular arrhythmia.Previous studies indicate that women who underwentwho underwent transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) have poorer 30-day outcomes compared with men. However, the effect of gender as a prognostic factor for long-term outcomes following TAVI remains unclear. Between 2008 and 2018, all patients (n = 683) who underwent TAVI in 2 centres in Melbourne, Australia were prospectively included in a registry. The primary end-point was long-term mortality. The secondary end points were Valve Academic Research Consortium-2 (VARC-2) in-hospital complications and mortality at 30-days and 1-year. Of 683 patients, 328 (48%) were women. Women had a higher mean STS-PROM score (5.2 ± 3.1 vs 4.6 ± 3.5, p less then 0.001) but less co-morbidities than men. Women had a significantly higher in-hospital bleeding rates (3.3% vs 1.0%, Odds Ratio 4.21, 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.16 to15.25, p = 0.027) and higher 30-day mortality (2.4% vs 0.3%, hazard ratio [HR] 8.75, 95% CI 1.09 to 69.6, p = 0.040) than men. Other VARC-2 outcomes were similar between genders. Overall mortality rate was 36% (246) over a median follow up of 2.7 (interquartile rang [IQR] 1.7 to 4.2) years. Median time to death was 5.3 (95% CI 4.7 to 5.7) years. One-year mortality was similar between genders (8.3% vs 7.8%), as was long-term mortality (HR = 0.91, 95% CI 0.71 to 1.17, p = 0.38). On multivariable analysis, female gender was an independent predictor for 1-year mortality (HR = 2.33, 95% CI 1.11 to 4.92, p = 0.026), but not long-term mortality (HR = 0.78, 95% CI 0.54 to 1.14, p = 0.20). In the women only cohort, STS-PROM was the only independent predictor of long-term mortality (HR 1.88, 95% CI 1.42 to 2.48, p less then 0.001). In conclusion, women had higher rates of peri-procedural major bleeding and 30-day mortality following TAVI. Massively parallel reporter assays (MPRAs) are an especially versatile technique resulting from such innovations. MPRAs are powerful molecular genetics tools that can be used to screen thousands of untranscribed or untranslated sequences and their variants for functional effects in a single experiment. This approach, though underutilized in psychiatric genetics, has several useful features for the field. We review methods for assaying putatively functional genetic variants and regions, emphasizing MPRAs and the opportunities they hold for dissection of psychiatric polygenicity. We discuss literature applying functional assays in neurogenetics, highlighting strengths, caveats, and design considerations-especially regarding disease-relevant variables (cell type, neurodevelopment, and sex), and we ultimately propose applications of MPRA to both computational and experimental neurogenetics of polygenic disease risk.
Vertigo is a seldom studied symptom in the paediatric population, where the prevalence is less than 1%. Vestibular disorders in children are not comparable to those of adults and are often underdiagnosed. Identifying the main causes of these disorders would provide reliable and accurate data of the diseases in certain age groups, improving the diagnostic process.
Observational, cross-sectional, and retrospective study. Consecutive records of patients, aged 3 to 17years, attended due to vestibular, balance and associated symptoms (vertigo, dizziness, hearing loss, balance disorders and headache), attended by the otoneurology service of a tertiary hospital, between September 2010 and September 2018, were included. Descriptive and inferential statistics were used for the analysis. All p-values reported from these analyses were two-tailed with a significance level <.05.
212 cases were registered from 6,444 consultations (3.3%). The proportion between males and females was similar. The mean age of the group was 14.5 (±3.9) years, the median age of onset of symptoms was 11 (IQR 8-14) years and that of the first consultation was 13 (IQR 10-15) years. As a cardinal symptom, 51.9% attended due to vertigo, 25.5% due to dizziness, 9.9% due to gait instability, 7.5% due to hearing loss and 5.2% due to headache. Of the episodes of vertigo, 61.8% were of peripheral origin, 69 32.5% central and 12 5.7% outside the vestibular system. Benign paroxysmal vertigo of childhood, dysfunction and vestibular migraine accounted for more than 65% of cases. No differences were found between the diagnoses regarding the sex and age of the participants (P>.05).

This approach, though underutilized in psychiatric genetics, has several useful features for the field. We review methods for assaying putatively functional genetic variants and regions, emphasizing MPRAs and the opportunities they hold for dissection of psychiatric polygenicity. Small mammals (Microtus californicus and Peromyscus maniculatus) had even more widespread effects, reducing the abundance of black oak seedlings and the height and cover of all three oak species. Results showed that low N concentrations (5- and 20-mM N) promoted mean final germination proportion of all eight species by 4.4% and 6.4%, but high concentrations (40 mM N) had no effect. The mean germination rate was decreased 2.1% and 5.1% by higher N concentration (20- and 40-mM N) levels, but germination start time showed the opposite trend, delayed by 0.7, 0.9, and 1.8 d for the 10, 20, and 40 mM N treatments. Appraisal of Guidelines for Research and Evaluation (AGREE II) is an instrument that informs development, reporting and assessment of clinical practice guidelines. Previous research has demonstrated the need for improvement in methodological and reporting quality of clinical practice guidelines specifically in surgery. We aimed to develop an AGREE II extension document for application in surgical guidelines.
We have performed a structured literature review and assessment of guidelines in surgery using the AGREE II instrument. In exploratory analyses, we have identified factors associated with guideline quality. https://www.selleckchem.com/products/g140.html We have performed reliability and factor analyses to inform the development of an extension document. We will summarise this information and present it to a Delphi panel of stakeholders. We will perform iterative Delphi rounds and we will summarise the final results to develop the extension instrument in a dedicated consensus conference.

We undertook a three-part article screening process. Screening and data extraction were undertaken independently by two researchers. Arksey's framework and thematic analysis informed the collation and synthesis of included paperpplied to improve the standardisation of measurements for occupational justice and social inclusion in policy, research and practice.
To address lack of clarity, we propose further and concurrent exploration of these concepts, specifically with reference to persons with comorbid mental health disorders such as substance use disorders and HIV living in low-income countries. This should reflect contextual realities influencing community participation, respect for human rights and meaningful occupational participation. From this broadened understanding, quantitative measures should be applied to improve the standardisation of measurements for occupational justice and social inclusion in policy, research and practice.
The search for non-invasive procedures to reduce localised adiposity in aesthetics clinics has recently been increasing. In this context, procedures, such as cryolipolysis, ultracavitation, photobiomodulation (PBM) and other techniques have been proposed. Some studies have shown that PBM can be used in body contouring. However, there is no standardisation of the protocol. More than that, as in other techniques for reducing adipose tissue, the availability of triacylglycerol may affect the lipid profile in the blood, bringing consequences to the general health of an individual. This work will aim to compare the light wavelengths when using PBM as a technique for reducing the abdominal waist circumference, while also evaluating the efficacy of the method. Changes in the lipid profile in the blood, with a long-term follow-up, will also be appraised.
This will be a controlled, randomised, double-blind, single-centred clinical trial. 174 patients will be recruited at the Nove de Julho University, Brazil, and t University, Brazil, approved the modified version of this project under No. 3414146 on 26 June 2019. This study is not yet recruiting. The results obtained will be published in a peer-reviewed journal in the related field.

Investment in early childhood produces positive returns for the child, the family and the community. Benefits have been shown to be significant within certain parameters, but a systematic review of the economic evidence across multiple sectors including health, education and social welfare will have the capacity to inform policy relative to the full range of social determinants. This review will take a broad approach, encompassing a range of costs and benefits to enable the identification of the most beneficial investments in early childhood and to highlight gaps in current research.
Economic evaluations incorporating both costs and long-term outcomes of early childhood interventions and programmes will be included. Outcomes may be valued in monetary units or quantified non-monetary units (eg, quality-adjusted life years (QALY), disability-adjusted life years (DALY)). Results will be expressed as a ratio according to the outcome; with monetary outcomes expressed as cost-benefit ratios or return on investment, and non-monetary outcomes expressed as cost per QALY or DALY. The target population is children aged 0-5 years.Extensive database searches across sectors will be undertaken. The review will involve five phases defining the research question, identifying relevant studies, selecting studies, extracting and collating data, and summarising and reporting results. The search commenced in 2019 and the expected end date is December 2020.
The findings of this review will inform policymakers and practitioners in public health, education, social welfare and primary care settings. The publication plan includes a series of academic publications, and policy papers prepared and disseminated through Telethon Kids Institute networks. Because prior work indicates that female subjects have a tempered blood pressure response to acute resistance exercise, we hypothesized that, compared with males, females would better maintain endothelial function following resistance exercise and that this preservation would be associated with a lower hypertensive stimulus. Twenty-nine young healthy males (n = 16) and females (n = 13) participated in this study. All subjects performed a session of resistance exercise (leg extension) at the same relative workload [65% of one repetition maximum (1RM)]. The blood pressure response to exercise was characterized, and brachial artery flow-mediated dilation (FMD) was measured before and after. Males performed a second experimental trial in which the blood pressure response to resistance exercise was matched to that of females. This was accomplished by reducing the workload (~25% of 1RM). When resistance exercise was performed at the same relative workload, the systolic blood pressure was greater in males compared with females. Congruently, resistance exercise caused a significant impairment in FMD in males but not in females (P 0.05). The present study reveals that acute resistance exercise transiently impairs endothelial function in young, healthy males but not in age-matched females. All subjects performed a session of resistance exercise (leg extension) at the same relative workload [65% of one repetition maximum (1RM)]. The blood pressure response to exercise was characterized, and brachial artery flow-mediated dilation (FMD) was measured before and after. Males performed a second experimental trial in which the blood pressure response to resistance exercise was matched to that of females. This was accomplished by reducing the workload (~25% of 1RM). When resistance exercise was performed at the same relative workload, the systolic blood pressure was greater in males compared with females. Congruently, resistance exercise caused a significant impairment in FMD in males but not in females (P 0.05). Preoperative (pre-op) identification of patients likely to achieve a clinically meaningful improvement following surgery for adult spinal deformity (ASD) is critical, especially given the substantial cost and comorbidity associated with surgery. Even though pain is a known indication for surgical ASD correction, we are not aware of established thresholds for baseline pain and function to guide which patients have a higher likelihood of improvement with corrective surgery.
We aimed to establish pre-op patient-reported outcome measure (PROM) thresholds to identify patients likely to improve by at least one minimum clinically important difference (MCID) with surgery for ASD.
This is a retrospective cohort study using prospectively collected data.
We reviewed 172 adult patients' charts who underwent corrective surgery for spinal deformity.
Included measures were the Visual Analog Scale for pain (VAS), Oswestry Disability Index (ODI), and Scoliosis Research Society-22 (SRS-22). Our primary outcome of inty of 0.89 and a specificity of 0.64 (AUC = 0.7813). An SRS threshold of 3.89 predicted reaching MCID with a sensitivity of 0.93 and specificity of 0.68 (AUC = 0.8024).
We identified useful thresholds for ODI and SRS-22 with acceptable predictive ability for improvement with surgery for ASD. Pre-op ODI, SRS, and multiple SRS subscores are predictive of meaningful improvement on the ODI and/or SRS at 2years following corrective surgery for spinal deformity. These results highlight the usefulness of PROMs in pre-op shared decision-making.

Golimumab is a fully human anti-tumor necrosis factor monoclonal antibody approved for thetreatment of rheumatoid arthritis (RA), psoriatic arthritis (PsA), and ankylosing spondylitis (AS). This study estimated rates of prespecified outcomes in patients with RA, PsA or AS initiating golimumab versus matched patients initiating non-biologic systemic (NBS) medications.
Patients enrolled in a US health plan with rheumatic disease who initiated a study medication were accrued between April 2009 and November 2014. Golimumab initiators were matched by propensity score to NBS initiators in a 14 ratio. Outcomes were identified through September 2015. As-treated, as-matched, and nested case-control (NCC) analyses were conducted in the matched cohorts. Sensitivity analyses evaluated the impact of residual confounding and nondifferential misclassification of exposure and outcomes.
Risks of outcomes were similar between golimumab and NBS initiators.
