Drug metabolism, steady-state metabolomics, activity-based protein profiling (ABPP, data available at PRIDE PXD019725), acute-treatment metabolomics, and western blot analyses have allowed us to further elucidate metabolic processes associated with melphalan resistance. Proteometabolomic data indicate that drug-resistant cells have higher levels of pentose phosphate pathway metabolites. Purine, pyrimidine, and glutathione metabolisms were commonly altered, and cell-line-specific changes in metabolite levels were observed, which could be linked to the differences in steady-state metabolism of naïve cells. Inhibition of selected enzymes in purine synthesis and pentose phosphate pathways was evaluated to determine their potential to improve melphalan's efficacy. The clinical relevance of these proteometabolomic leads was confirmed by comparison of tumor cell transcriptomes from newly diagnosed MM patients and patients with relapsed disease after treatment with high-dose melphalan and autologous stem-cell transplantation. The observation of common and cell-line-specific changes in metabolite levels suggests that omic approaches will be needed to fully examine melphalan resistance in patient specimens and define personalized strategies to optimize the use of high-dose melphalan.Compounds 1-3, the rare examples of 9,11-seco euphane or lanostane triterpenoids featuring an enol-hemiacetal functionality, were isolated from Euphorbia stracheyi. Common methods for H2S detection require the destruction of the biosamples and are not suitable to be applied in vivo. In this Communication, we report a "turn-on" second near-infrared (NIR-II) luminescent approach for sensitive, real-time, and in situ H2S detection, which is based on the absorption competition between the H2S-responsive chromophores (compound 1) and the NIR-II luminescent lanthanide nanoparticles. Specifically, the luminescence was suppressed by compound 1 due to the competitive absorption of the incident light. In the presence of H2S, the compound 1 was bleached to recover the luminescence. Thanks to the deep tissue penetration depth and the low absorbance/scattering on biological samples of the NIR-II nanoprobes, the monitoring of the endogenous H2S in lipopolysaccharide-induced liver inflammation was achieved, which is unattainable by the conventional histopathological and serological approaches.Titanium dioxide (TiO2) nanotubes are attractive materials for drug-delivery systems because of their biocompatibility, chemical stability, and simple preparation. In this study, we loaded TiO2 nanotubes with anticancer drug doxorubicin (DOX) experimentally and in all-atom molecular dynamics (MD) simulations. The release of doxorubicin from the nanotubes was studied by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and confocal Raman spectroscopy, and drug-release profiles were evaluated under various conditions. The polyethylene glycol (PEG) coating and capping of the nanotubes led to a marked increase in the water contact angles from about 16 to 33° in keeping with reduced wettability. The capping retarded the release rate without decreasing the overall release amount. The MD simulations further show that the DOX molecule diffusion coefficients (Di) are in the order of 10-10 m2/s. The DOX molecules show a plethora of short- and long-range H-bonding interactions with TiO2 nanotube walls and water. Calculated radial distribution functions (RDFs) and combined radial/angular distribution functions (CDFs) allowed gauging the strength of these hydrogen bonds. The strength does not fully correlate with the pKa values of DOX atoms which we assign to the confinement of DOX and water in the tubes. The lifetimes of hydrogen bonds between the DOX atoms and water molecules are shorter than that of the DOX...TiO2 interactions, and DOX...DOX aggregation does not play an important role. Thus, in this study, we investigated ginsenoside derivatives' inhibitory effect on ACE. We assessed the activities of 22 ginsenosides, most of which inhibited ACE significantly. Notably, protopanaxatriol, protopanaxadiol, and ginsenoside Rh2 exhibited the most potent ACE inhibitory potential, with IC50 values of 1.57, 2.22, and 5.60 μM, respectively. Further, a kinetic study revealed different modes of inhibition against ACE. Molecular docking studies have confirmed that ginsenosides inhibit ACE via many hydrogen bonds and hydrophobic interactions with catalytic residues and zinc ion of C- and N-domain ACE that block the catalytic activity of ACE. In addition, we found that the active ginsenosides stimulated glucose uptake in insulin-resistant C2C12 skeletal muscle cells in a dose-dependent manner.

    In multiple studies, the potential relationship between daylight saving time (DST) and the occurrence of acute myocardial infarction (MI) has been investigated, with mixed results. Using the Dutch Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) registry facilitated by the Netherlands Heart Registration, we investigated whether the transitions to and from DST interact with the incidence rate of PCI for acute MI.

    We assessed changes in hospital admissions for patients with ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) or non-STEMI (NSTEMI) undergoing PCI between 1January 2015 and 31December 2018. We compared the incidence rate of PCI procedures during the first 3or 7days after the transition with that during acontrol period (2weeks before transition plus second week after transition). Incidence rate ratio (IRR) was calculated using Poisson regression. Potential gender differences were also investigated.

    Atotal of 80,970 PCI procedures for STEMI or NSTEMI were performed. No difference in incidence rate aweek after the transition to DST in spring was observed for STEMI (IRR0.95, 95% confidence interval (CI) 0.87-1.03) or NSTEMI (IRR1.04, 95% CI 0.96-1.12). After the transition from DST in autumn, the IRR was also comparable with the control period (STEMI1.03, 95% CI 0.95-1.12, and NSTEMI0.98, 95% CI 0.91-1.06). Observing the first 3days after each transition yielded similar results. Gender-specific results were comparable.

Here, we developed a novel LC-based workflow to analyze blood plasma N-glycan fucosylation in 320 diabetes cases with clinical features matching those at risk of HNF1A-MODY. Fucosylation levels measured in two independent research centers by using similar LC-based methods were correlated to evaluate the interlaboratory performance of the biomarker. The interlaboratory study showed good correlation between fucosylation levels measured for the 320 cases in the two centers with the correlation coefficient (r) of up to 0.88 for a single trait A3FG3S2. Both unsupervised and supervised data analysis clearly differentiated the groups. Different metabolites have been identified as potential specific biomarkers, and their characterization strongly suggests that metabolism of flavonoids and long-chain fatty acids is perturbed in Xf samples. In particular, a decrease in the defence capabilities of the host after Xf infection is proposed because of a significant dysregulation of some metabolites belonging to flavonoid family. Moreover, oleic acid is confirmed as a putative diffusible signal factor (DSF). This study provides new insights into the host-pathogen interactions and confirms LC-HRMS-based metabolomics as a powerful approach for disease-associated biomarkers discovery in plants.
    Microvascular decompression (MVD) is the preferred surgical method for hemifacial spasm (HFS). The purpose of this study was to analyze the effectiveness and safety of fully endoscopic MVD for HFS relative to microscopic MVD.

    The retrospective study was conducted on HFS patients who underwent microscopic or fully endoscopic MVD from January 2018 to March 2019. All patients were treated at a single institution and by a single surgeon. Patients were divided into two groups based on the surgical method, and clinical data were then compared between groups.

    A total of 116 patients, including 54 cases who received fully endoscopic MVD (E group) and 62 cases who received microscopic MVD (M group), were included in this study. Follow-up efficacy did not differ significantly between groups, with total effective rates of 88.9% in the E group and 90.3% in the M group. When postoperative complications were compared individually, there were no statistically significant differences between the two groups; however, the E group had a higher total incidence of complications than the M group (48.

  • Sustaining well-being challenges people with serious mental health issues. Community gardening is an occupation used to promote clients' well-being, yet there is limited evidence to support this intervention.

    This paper examines how facilitated community gardening programs changed the subjective well-being and social connectedness of people living with mental health issues.

    A community-based participatory research approach and qualitative methods were used with 23 adults living in supported housing and participating in supported community gardening programs. A constructivist approach guided inductive data analysis.

    Participation in community gardening programs enhanced well-being through welcoming places, a sense of belonging, and developing positive feelings through doing. The connection to living things and responsibility for plants grounded participants in the present and offered a unique venue for learning about gardening and themselves.

    Practitioners and service-users should collaborate to develop leadership, programs, places, and processes within community gardens to enhance well-being.

The disease can go undetected until the fruit is cut open, as no external symptoms appear on the fruit. Alternaria, Aspergillus, Cladosporium, Coniothyrium, Epicoccum, Phoma and Stemphylium are some of the common pathogens associated with moldy core (Serdani et al. 2002; Gao et al. 2013; McLeod 2014).     Sustaining well-being challenges people with serious mental health issues. Community gardening is an occupation used to promote clients' well-being, yet there is limited evidence to support this intervention. This paper examines how facilitated community gardening programs changed the subjective well-being and social connectedness of people living with mental health issues. A community-based participatory research approach and qualitative methods were used with 23 adults living in supported housing and participating in supported community gardening programs. A constructivist approach guided inductive data analysis. Participation in community gardening programs enhanced well-being through welcoming places, a sense of belonging, and developing positive feelings through doing. The connection to living things and responsibility for plants grounded participants in the present and offered a unique venue for learning about gardening and themselves. Practitioners and service-users should collaborate to develop leadership, programs, places, and processes within community gardens to enhance well-being. Changes in the small RNA expression in endothelial cells have been linked to the development of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. We investigated and verified differentially expressed small RNAs in endothelial cells in response to inflammatory stimulation.

    Primary rat endothelial cells were obtained from Sprague-Dawley rats and treated with 10 ng/ml TNF-
    for 24 hours. Small RNA sequencing was used to generate extensive small RNA data. Significantly differentially expressed small RNAs identified in the analysis were further confirmed by quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR). Then, we investigated the tissue-specific small RNA expression after RNA extraction from different tissues.

    Small RNA sequencing demonstrated that 17 miRNAs, 1 piRNA, 10 snoRNAs, and 7 snRNAs were significantly differentially expressed. qRT-PCR identified 3 miRNAs, 2 snoRNAs, and 2 snRNAs with significantly different expression. This study aims to evaluate the anti-P. gingivalis IgG and IgG subclasses1-4 in threatened preterm labour (TPL) patients and their association with small for gestational age (SGA). METHODS Serum, saliva and subgingival plaque samples were collected from 47 TPL patients compared with 48 healthy pregnant women. The amount of P. gingivalis was measured in saliva and plaque using real-time polymerase chain reaction. The serum anti-P. gingivalis IgG titre and anti-P. gingivalis subclasses IgG 1-4 concentration were measured using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. RESULTS The amount of anti-P. gingivalis IgG-1 was significantly lower in the TPL group than in the healthy group. Fourteen subjects delivered SGA infants in the TPL group. The pocket probing depth (PPD), clinical attachment loss, PPD ≥ 5 mm%, amount of P. gingivalis in plaque, anti-P. gingivalis IgG and anti-P. gingivalis IgG-4 were significantly higher in the TPL-SGA group than in the TPL-normal weight group. Moreover, logistic regression analysis revealed the detection frequency of P. gingivalis in plaque and placenta weight were significantly correlated with SGA in TPL. In the receiver operating characteristic curve analysis, an amount of P. gingivalis in plaque ≥ 86.45 copies showed a sensitivity of 0.786 and a specificity of 0.727 (AUC 0.792) for predicting SGA in TPL. CONCLUSION Lower anti-P. gingivalis IgG-1 amounts are related to TPL, while higher anti-P. gingivalis IgG and IgG-4 are related with SGA in TPL. Furthermore, recent approval by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration of stiripentol has made available a previously difficult-to-obtain option for patients with Dravet's syndrome. Finally, implanted responsive neurostimulation devices for direct cortical stimulation and deep brain stimulation have shown efficacy in adult patients and may represent a thrilling new horizon for pediatric patients.

This study aims to evaluate the anti-P. gingivalis IgG and IgG subclasses1-4 in threatened preterm labour (TPL) patients and their association with small for gestational age (SGA). METHODS Serum, saliva and subgingival plaque samples were collected from 47 TPL patients compared with 48 healthy pregnant women. The amount of P. gingivalis was measured in saliva and plaque using real-time polymerase chain reaction. The serum anti-P. gingivalis IgG titre and anti-P. gingivalis subclasses IgG 1-4 concentration were measured using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. RESULTS The amount of anti-P. gingivalis IgG-1 was significantly lower in the TPL group than in the healthy group. Fourteen subjects delivered SGA infants in the TPL group. The pocket probing depth (PPD), clinical attachment loss, PPD ≥ 5 mm%, amount of P. gingivalis in plaque, anti-P. gingivalis IgG and anti-P. gingivalis IgG-4 were significantly higher in the TPL-SGA group than in the TPL-normal weight group. Moreover, logistic regression analysis revealed the detection frequency of P. gingivalis in plaque and placenta weight were significantly correlated with SGA in TPL. In the receiver operating characteristic curve analysis, an amount of P. gingivalis in plaque ≥ 86.45 copies showed a sensitivity of 0.786 and a specificity of 0.727 (AUC 0.792) for predicting SGA in TPL. CONCLUSION Lower anti-P. gingivalis IgG-1 amounts are related to TPL, while higher anti-P. gingivalis IgG and IgG-4 are related with SGA in TPL.   • Limited population-based data have explored perianal involvement in Crohn's disease (CD) and compared the disease course between severe and non-severe perianal CD (PCD). We aimed to explore the disease course of these phenotypes in a population-based study of CD.

    Cases were identified from the epi-IIRN cohort and included 2 Israeli health maintenance organizations covering 78% of the population. We validated specific algorithms to identify fistulizing PCD and to differentiate severe from non-severe disease by medication utilization, International Classification of Disease, 9th Revision codes, and perianal procedures.

    A total of 12,904 CD patients were included in an inception cohort from 2005 (2186 pediatric-onset, 17%) providing 86,119 person-years of follow-up. Fistulizing PCD was diagnosed in 1530 patients (12%) (574 with severe PCD, 4%). The prevalence of PCD was 7.9%, 9.4%, 10.3%, and 11.6% at 1, 3, 5, and 10 years from CD diagnosis, respectively. At 5 years, PCD patients were more likely to be hospitalized (36% in non-PCD vs 64% in PCD; P < .001), undergo inflammatory bowel disease-related surgeries (9% vs 38%, respectively; P < .001), and develop anorectal cancer (1.2/10,000 person-years for non-PCD vs 4.2/10,000 for PCD; P= .01). Severe PCD was associated with poorer outcomes compared with non-severe PCD, as shown for hospitalizations (61% in non-severe PCD vs 73% in severe; P= .004) and surgeries (35% vs 43%; P= .001).

Left ventricular ejection fraction was worse in late-stage than early-stage PIC (P <.01). At 4 weeks (early stage), left ventricular ejection fraction was higher in PVC+RTX vs PVC animals (51.7% ± 1.6% vs 45.0% ± 2.1%; P = .030), whereas no significant difference between PVC and PVC+RTX was observed at 8 weeks (late stage). Histologic studies demonstrated reduced fibrosis in PVC+RTX vs PVC alone at 4 weeks (2.27% ± 0.14% vs 3.01% ± 0.21%; P = .020), suggesting that RTX mitigated profibrotic pathways induced by persistent PVCs.

    Marked variations in survival rates have brought into question whether standard clinicopathologic classification should be applied to patients presenting with multiple primary lung cancers (MPLCs). This study investigated the genetic profiles of MPLCs in a cohort of patients using next-generation sequencing and correlated results to clinicopathologic data and patient outcome.

    Patients treated surgically with curative intent fortwo putative primaries of similar histopathology from January 2000 to December 2019 at St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne. DNA and RNA was extracted from formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tumor tissue and sequenced on an IonTorrent Personal Genome Machine system. Patient outcome was determined by overall survival and disease-free survival.

    A total of 40 cases fulfilled the inclusion criteria. Mutational profiling was concordant with clinicopathologic diagnosis in most cases; however, seven cases (17.5%) revealed shared mutations suggesting metastatic disease and this was associated with a substantial reduction in overall survival (p < 0.05).

    Our results suggest that gene sequencing technologies are potentially a more accurate diagnostic and prognostic tool compared with traditional histopathologic evaluation in patients presenting with suspected MPLCs, which could better guide management and predict outcomes.

Unfortunately, only a subset of unselected patients with lung cancer responds to these therapies. An important area of ongoing research is to identify biomarkers that can predict which patients are most likely to derive clinical benefit. This review will discuss established and emerging biomarkers from some of the clinical trials that have demonstrated the efficacy of immune checkpoint inhibitors for the treatment of both NSCLC and SCLC.

  • Canine norovirus (CNV) is a diarrhea-causing pathogen in canines. In this study, 268 canine diarrheic fecal samples were collected from 13 pet hospitals across three provinces in China between March 2017 and May 2019, and 7.8% (21/268) samples were detected as CNV-positive by RT-PCR. Phylogenetic analysis of twenty-one CNV RdRp fragments showed that eighteen of the strains clustered in GVI.2, two clustered in GVI.1 and one clustered in GIV.2. The complete RdRp, VP1, and VP2 genes of four GVI.2 strains obtained from three provinces were successfully sequenced. Phylogenetic analyses based on the RdRp, VP1, and VP2 genes showed that the GVI.2 strains from this study were closely related to USA GVI.2 strains. The complete genome of GVI.2 strain Dog/M9/18/CH was successfully sequenced, it was 7905 nucleotides (nt) in length and shared 95.9% nt identity with the sole available, nearly full-length genome of GVI.2 strain genome. To our knowledge, this is first description of the molecular prevalence of CNV in mainland China, and the first report of a complete GVI.2 genome. These findings will extend our understanding of epidemics and the genetic evolution of CNV.
    Tuberculosis is one of the top ten causes of deaths worldwide. The deficiency of vitamin D was reported to be associated with the increased susceptibility of tuberculosis. Various previous reports were published to check the association of FokI polymorphism of the vitamin D receptor gene with tuberculosis risk. But their results were inconsistent so, we performed a meta-analysis to know the exact relation of the two.

    Different databases were screened up to November 2020 with the keywords "Vitamin D receptor", "VDR", and "FokI", along with "Tuberculosis" and "TB" to find the suitable articles. All the statistical analyses were performed by the Open Meta-Analyst program and all p-values were two-tailed with a significance level of 0.05.

    Canine norovirus (CNV) is a diarrhea-causing pathogen in canines. In this study, 268 canine diarrheic fecal samples were collected from 13 pet hospitals across three provinces in China between March 2017 and May 2019, and 7.8% (21/268) samples were detected as CNV-positive by RT-PCR. Phylogenetic analysis of twenty-one CNV RdRp fragments showed that eighteen of the strains clustered in GVI.2, two clustered in GVI.1 and one clustered in GIV.2. The complete RdRp, VP1, and VP2 genes of four GVI.2 strains obtained from three provinces were successfully sequenced. Phylogenetic analyses based on the RdRp, VP1, and VP2 genes showed that the GVI.2 strains from this study were closely related to USA GVI.2 strains. The complete genome of GVI.2 strain Dog/M9/18/CH was successfully sequenced, it was 7905 nucleotides (nt) in length and shared 95.9% nt identity with the sole available, nearly full-length genome of GVI.2 strain genome. To our knowledge, this is first description of the molecular prevalence of CNV in mainland China, and the first report of a complete GVI.2 genome. The deficiency of vitamin D was reported to be associated with the increased susceptibility of tuberculosis. Various previous reports were published to check the association of FokI polymorphism of the vitamin D receptor gene with tuberculosis risk. But their results were inconsistent so, we performed a meta-analysis to know the exact relation of the two. Different databases were screened up to November 2020 with the keywords "Vitamin D receptor", "VDR", and "FokI", along with "Tuberculosis" and "TB" to find the suitable articles. All the statistical analyses were performed by the Open Meta-Analyst program and all p-values were two-tailed with a significance level of 0.05. No statistically significant association was observed in the allele contrast model (OR =1.11, 95%CI=0.99-1.24, p=0.05, I =73.46%), in the dominant model (OR =1.11, 95%CI=0.96-1.28, p=0.14, I =71.39%), and in the co-dominant model (OR =1.05, 95%CI=0.92-1.21, p=0.41, I =65.97%). However, a significant association was found in the homozygote model (OR =1.32, 95%CI=1.03-1.69, p=0.02, I =67.02%) and in the recessive model (OR =1.26, 95%CI=1.03-1.54, p=0.02, I =58.01%). Further analysis was performed on the bases of the ethnicity.     Thyroid storm is a well-known complication of surgical procedures in the lower neck, but is rare after a blunt neck trauma. The cases described previously have mainly focussed on adults with pre-existent thyroid disease. In this case report, we describe the disease course of a previously healthy adolescent who had asymptomatic hyperthyroxinemia after a blunt trauma of the jaw and neck.
    . A 17-year-old girl presented at our emergency department after she fell on her head while roller blading. On physical examination, among other injuries, she had a swelling in the lower neck, which appeared to involve the thyroid gland. Subsequent laboratory analysis was indicative of primary hyperthyroxinemia, with a free T4 of 59 pmol/L (reference range 12-22) and a TSH of 0.46 mU/L (reference range 0.5-4.3), but the patient had no symptoms fitting with this. Four weeks after the initial presentation, the patient reported only complaints regarding tenderness in the jaw and neck region. She was no longer hyperthyroidic on biochemical evaluation (with a free T4 level of 15.6 pmol/L and a TSH level of 0.33 mU/L), and antibodies against thyroid peroxidase or TSH receptor were not present.

Here, we report a case of sialolipoma affecting the floor of the mouth in a 47-year-old patient and reviewed the clinical, histologic, and immunohistochemical characteristics of the lesion.The coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic has rapidly spread across the globe since its first detection in March 2020. Its widespread manifestations and vascular complications are increasingly being reported even in young and middle-aged patients. Hyperinflammation is a continuum of host's exaggerated inflammatory response representing cytokine dysregulation/storm which produces coagulopathy and vascular endothelial dysfunction, apart from a prothrombotic state. Cytokine storm or direct viral invasion of the vascular endothelial cells through surface angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 receptors may result in endothelial dysfunction which can potentially result in dissection. Only a few case reports have been published in the literature describing vascular dissection without any inciting factors in COVID-19 patients. Herein, we present the first case report of bilateral renal artery dissection in a 41-year-old male patient who recently recovered from COVID-19 and was managed successfully in stages after many medical hurdles.Adult intensivists have increasing exposure to individuals with congenital diseases surviving into adulthood. Thus, we conducted an in vitro study using rat vascular smooth muscle cells (rVSMCs) to evaluate the protective effect of natural bioactives found in OptiCel, that is, Mg combined with polyphenols (PPs), Q, C, and R. Calcification was induced by culturing rVSMCs in a high phosphate (HP) medium. The addition of Mg and Q + C + R separately decreased the HP-induced calcium deposition by 37.55% and 42.78%, respectively. In contrast, when Mg was combined with Q, C, and R, the inhibition of calcium deposition was decreased by 92.88%, which is greater than their calculated additive inhibition (80.33%). These results demonstrate that the combination of Mg with selected PPs (Q, C, and R) is more effective than when used separately. The findings also suggest the combination has a synergistic effect in inhibiting VC, which is a risk factor for cardiovascular disease. Thus, regular consumption of these natural bioactives could have a beneficial effect in reducing the development of heart diseases.
    Anaemia, a common nutritional deficiency, is a public health problem in the Mount Cameroon area. This study determined the prevalence and possible risk factors of microcytic and malarial anaemia in children less than ≤15 years residing in the Buea and Limbe municipalities in the Mount Cameroon area.

    A total of 566 children were clinically examined in a cross-sectional study from December 2018 to August 2019 for anaemia and malaria parasites. Blood samples collected were used in evaluating full blood count with the aid of an automated haemoanalyser, and malaria parasite was confirmed by microscopy. Anaemia was defined based on WHO standards while microcytic anaemia and malarial anaemia were defined as microcytosis + anaemia and malaria + anaemia, respectively. Factors that showed significance in the bivariate analysis were entered into a multinomial logistic regression to determine risk factors for microcytic and malarial anaemia.

    The overall prevalence for anaemia, microcytosis, microcytic anaemia, and malarial anaemia was, respectively, 68.

  • Drug reaction with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms or DRESS syndrome is among severe cutaneous drug reactions. This constitutes a clinical triad that includes fever, skin rash and systemic compromise, accompanied by eosinophilia and/ or atypical lymphocytes. We present the case of an 18-month-old female patient with cystic fibrosis, who develops this pathology during a trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole cycle as an eradicating treatment of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus in bronchial secretions. Cystic fibrosis patients receive multiple antibiotic regimens according to bacteriology in sputum, to avoid impairment in their lung function and colonization by resistant germs. Due to the increased risk of drug hypersensitivity in cystic fibrosis, an ominous prognosis and high morbidity and mortality, knowledge and a high index of suspicion of this syndrome are necessary.

Over the last 10 years, 10 patients with recurrent pancreatitis were sent at our center. Only one was considered to have autoimmune pancreatitis. We described a clinical case about a patient, who had, at the beginning, normal functional and anatomical studies, and then was finally diagnosed with autoimmune disease based on findings on the magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography with a duct of Wirsung abnormality. We considered important to describe this uncommon disorder in childhood, in spite of having an increasing incidence.

    Drug reaction with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms or DRESS syndrome is among severe cutaneous drug reactions. This constitutes a clinical triad that includes fever, skin rash and systemic compromise, accompanied by eosinophilia and/ or atypical lymphocytes. We present the case of an 18-month-old female patient with cystic fibrosis, who develops this pathology during a trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole cycle as an eradicating treatment of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus in bronchial secretions. Cystic fibrosis patients receive multiple antibiotic regimens according to bacteriology in sputum, to avoid impairment in their lung function and colonization by resistant germs. Due to the increased risk of drug hypersensitivity in cystic fibrosis, an ominous prognosis and high morbidity and mortality, knowledge and a high index of suspicion of this syndrome are necessary. Recurrent pancreatitis occurs in children between 15 and 35 % of the cases. It is defined as two or more separate episodes of acute pancreatitis with normalization of the pancreatic enzymes between episodes. One of the causes is autoimmune pancreatitis. Over the last 10 years, 10 patients with recurrent pancreatitis were sent at our center. Only one was considered to have autoimmune pancreatitis. We described a clinical case about a patient, who had, at the beginning, normal functional and anatomical studies, and then was finally diagnosed with autoimmune disease based on findings on the magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography with a duct of Wirsung abnormality.
