We specifically show that disordered "stealthy" hyperuniform microstructures exhibit novel wave characteristics (e.g., low-pass filters that transmit waves "isotropically" up to a finite wavenumber). Our cross-property relations for the effective wave characteristics can be applied to design multifunctional composites via inverse techniques. It was found that unmarried individuals and individuals with tertiary education or above were at risk of economic abuse. Moreover, there were significant association between economic abuse experience and anxiety, depression, and psychosomatic symptoms. Resilience was the protective factor against anxiety, depression, and psychosomatic symptoms. Students in a University System in the southwest completed an online survey including measures of physical and psychological IPV, academic disengagement, sense of community, and safety on campus. Conditional process analyses were used to understand key pathways for 6,818 woman identified students. All models found a significant indirect path between physical and psychological IPV and academic disengagement via depression symptoms. Students' sense of community on campus was associated with less academic disengagement regardless of physical violence. The impact of psychological IPV on disengagement was stronger for those with lower senses of community. In turn, identification with the victims was associated with greater perceived threat, followed by more negative affect. Low public regard was associated with greater perceived threat that, in turn, was associated with more negative affect. The percentage of NIH funds awarded to non-nurse PIs ranged from 0% at 3 Schools to as high as 97% at 1 School of Nursing. Over the past 5 years, the following Institutes have consistently been the largest funders (total dollars) to Schools of Nursing NINR, National Institute of Aging, National Institute of Minority and Health Disparities, National Cancer Institute and National Institute of Child Health and Human Development. CONCLUSION These findings highlight the current funding streams for Schools of Nursing as well as opportunities for expansion. Preparing a cadre of nurse scientists who can generate new knowledge to advance our health care is critical to the success of our profession and to ensuring the health of the people for whom we provide care. As the demographics in the United States continue to change, nurses must deliver care to patients from diverse cultural backgrounds. Cultural humility is a lifelong process of self-reflection which is also defined by that individual. It allows an individual to be open to other people's identities, which is core to the nursing standard of providing holistic care. Embracing and incorporating cultural humility is essential for creating a comprehensive and individualized plan of care. One of the ways to achieve cultural humility in nursing is to train future faculty to become agents of cultural humility. This also helps to create a pipeline of nurses who have respect and empathy for the patients they serve. The aims of this paper include 1) define cultural humility and its importance to healthcare professionals; 2) explore the intrapersonal, interpersonal, and system levels of cultural humility; 3) provide insight on how to promote cultural humility; 4) reflect on best practices across a variety of healthcare disciplines; and 5) provide suggestions for practice. BACKGROUND Nursing students from historically underrepresented ethnic minorities and disadvantaged background (HUREM-DB) groups often face barriers such as a lack of consistent financial resources, fewer professional role models, bias, and micro-inequities. IMPLEMENTATION OF THE PROJECT Courageous dialogue sessions were conducted with 56 HUREM-DB undergraduate nursing students enrolled in a baccalaureate program. The number of evaluations submitted for a session averaged 17 (range 7-36). Courageous dialogue sessions allowed students to express views in a safe environment with opportunities for peer support, role modeling, open discussion, and problem solving. PROJECT OUTCOMES Student evaluations reflected an appreciation of the opportunity to share experiences and learn new skills, knowledge, and approaches to aid their success in nursing school and perhaps their entry into the profession of nursing. CONCLUSION Courageous dialogue can be an important part of a comprehensive strategy to support HUREM-DB nursing students academically, socially, and professionally. BACKGROUND A racially diverse registered nurse workforce could improve health outcomes for minority populations, and efforts to recruit students from underrepresented groups need to be strengthened. PURPOSE To explore the perceptions of nursing held by African American undergraduate non-nursing science majors within the context of their career ideals. METHOD Qualitative description was the research design utilized in this study. A purposive sample of 20 African American non-nursing science majors participated in semi-structured interviews. Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña's (2014) coding processes for qualitative analysis were employed. RESULTS Three themes were identified that described career behavior, ideals, and the participants' perceptions of nursing as a career 1.) Career Development Internal and External Contributions, 2.) The Ideal Career Profession with Power, and 3.) Perception of Nursing A Limited Profession. Findings suggest African American science majors carry a significant burden to overcome stereotypes for themselves and their communities, thus desire careers with power and autonomy. CONCLUSION Careers in medicine were idealized whereas careers in nursing were devalued. These college students often embraced careers in medicine due to, in part, the perceived ability to overcome stereotypes and simultaneously rejected nursing careers due to desire to avoid negatively stereotyped careers. OBJECTIVE This study investigated the effect of plasma-treated leno weaved ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene fiber placement on gap formation and microtensile bond strength (MTBS) of a bulk-fill composite in deep cavity. METHODS Resin composite molds (3 mm width, 4 mm depth) were treated with Clearfil SE Bond 2 and restored with 3 techniques (1) Surefil SDR flow (SDR) placed in bulk (BLK), (2) SDR placed in two unequal increments (INC) and (3) SDR placed after an increment of SDR placed with wetted polyethylene fiber (Ribbond Ultra) at the cavity floor (FRC). As a control, the cavities were bulk-filled with SDR and no bonding agent (n = 12). All the specimens were subjected to real-time and 3D imaging by SS-OCT (1330 nm) to calculate the total volume of gap formed (mm3) at the cavity floor and between the composite increments. MATERIALS AND METHODS We analyzed the clinicopathological characterized and immunohistochemically screened the differential expression of key molecular markers involved in the development and progression of in TNBC cases vis-a-vis non-TNBC and autopsy-based control samples. RESULTS TNBC tends to display at an early reproductive age and is more aggressive in nature.

In this study, we have identified a previously unknown pro-tumorigenic role for the RUNX genes in this disease setting. Analysis of patient tumor biopsies together with loss of function studies in preclinical models established the importance of RUNX1 and RUNX2 in ccRCC. Patients with high RUNX1 (and RUNX2) expression exhibited significantly poorer clinical survival compared to patients with low expression. This was functionally relevant as deletion of RUNX1 in ccRCC cell lines reduced tumor cell growth and viability in vitro and in vivo. Transcriptional profiling of RUNX1-CRISPR-deleted cells revealed a gene signature dominated by extracellular matrix remodelling, notably affecting STMN3, SERPINH1, and EPHRIN signaling. Finally, RUNX1 deletion in a genetic mouse model of kidney cancer improved overall survival and reduced tumor cell proliferation. Despite the clinical success of PD-1 blockade using monoclonal antibodies, most patients do not respond to the treatment, and the underlying regulatory mechanisms of PD-1 remain incompletely defined. Here we show that PD-1 is extensively N-glycosylated in T cells and the intensities of its specific glycoforms are altered upon TCR activation. Glycosylation was critical for maintaining PD-1 protein stability and cell surface localization. Glycosylation of PD-1, especially at the N58 site, was essential for mediating its interaction with PD-L1. The monoclonal antibody STM418 specifically targeted glycosylated PD-1, exhibiting higher binding affinity to PD-1 than FDA-approved PD-1 antibodies, potently inhibiting PD-L1/PD-1 binding, and enhancing anti-tumor immunity. Together these findings provide novel insights into the functional significance of PD-1 glycosylation and offer a rationale for targeting glycosylated PD-1 as a potential strategy for immunotherapy. ImmunoPET imaging of ICOS enabled sensitive and specific detection of activated T cells and early benchmarking of immune response. A STING agonist was identified as a promising therapeutic approach in this manner. The STING agonist generated significantly stronger immune responses as measured by ICOS ImmunoPET and delayed tumor growth compared to PD-1 checkpoint blockade. More importantly, ICOS ImmunoPET enabled early and robust prediction of therapeutic response across multiple treatment regimens. This data shows that ICOS is an indicator of T cell-mediated immune response and suggests ICOS ImmunoPET as a promising strategy for monitoring, comparing, and predicting immunotherapy success in cancer. OBJECTIVES There are multiple approaches to vaginectomy for the purpose of masculinizing gender-affirming genital surgery including mucosal fulguration and excision. The outcomes of the approaches are not well described. We aim to describe the surgical outcomes of gender-affirming vaginectomy and colpocleisis by complete mucosal excision. METHODS We performed a case series study of 40 transmasculine patients who underwent gender-affirming vaginectomy and colpocleisis. Vaginectomy was performed by complete excision of the vaginal mucosa via a transperineal approach. We recorded perioperative outcomes and operative time. We performed a multivariate analysis to assess patient factors on operative outcomes. RESULTS Forty vaginectomies were performed between September 2016 and April 2019, 27 (67.5%) in phalloplasty patients and 13 (32.5%) in metoidioplasty patients. Perioperative complications included 2 blood transfusions, 1 pelvic hematoma, and 1 Clostridium cifficile colitis. No urethral fistulae to the vaginal space, mucoceles, or visceral injures were seen with a median follow-up of 7.7 months. Operative time decreased significantly with later surgery year. Operative time decreased overtime such that after approximately 20 cases, the procedure fairly consistently takes 2 to 2.5 hours to perform.OBJECTIVE The aims of the study were to determine the rate of urinary tract infection (UTI) in women undergoing colpopexy and to evaluate risk factors and timing for postoperative UTI. METHODS This was a retrospective cohort study using the American College of Surgeons National Surgical Quality Improvement Program database from 2010 to 2017. Patients were grouped into those with and without UTI. Pairwise analysis between groups was performed using χ and Fisher exact test. Multivariable logistic regression was used to identify independent predictors of UTI. RESULTS Of 23,097 women who underwent colpopexy, 1079 (4.7%) experienced a postoperative UTI. Urinary tract infection was most frequently diagnosed in the second week after surgery (38.2%), compared with week 1 (19.9%), 3 (22.8%), and 4 (19.1%) (P less then 0.001). Patients diagnosed with a UTI were more likely to have insulin-dependent diabetes (2.8% vs 1.7%, P = 0.006), coagulopathy (1.3% vs 0.7%, P = 0.04), and chronic steroid use (2.7% vs 1.8%, P = 0.004). Patients with a UTI versus those without a UTI were more likely to have undergone an intraperitoneal or extraperitoneal vaginal colpopexy (37.8% vs 30.5%, P less then 0.001) and (29.8% vs 25.6%, P = 0.003), respectively, and more likely to undergo combined anterior and posterior colporrhaphy (17.1% vs 12.2%, P less then 0.001). After logistic regression, intraoperative cystotomy repair (adjusted odds ratio = 2.93, 95% confidence interval = 1.54-5.59) was the most significant risk factor. CONCLUSIONS Postoperative UTI after colpopexy occurred less frequently than previously reported. A random effect model on standardized mean difference for continuous outcomes and odds ratio for dichotomous outcomes were used to meta-analyze data. RESULTS In total, 37 full-text articles (42 studies, 8,197 participants) were included. The class of volatile anesthetics compared with propofol was associated with lower 1-yr mortality (5.5 vs. 6.8%; odds ratio, 0.76 [95% CI, 0.60 to 0.96]; P = 0.023), myocardial infarction (odds ratio, 0.60 [95%tients who received intraoperative volatile anesthetics versus propofol have reported conflicting findings. OBJECTIVES There are multiple approaches to vaginectomy for the purpose of masculinizing gender-affirming genital surgery including mucosal fulguration and excision. The outcomes of the approaches are not well described. We aim to describe the surgical outcomes of gender-affirming vaginectomy and colpocleisis by complete mucosal excision. METHODS We performed a case series study of 40 transmasculine patients who underwent gender-affirming vaginectomy and colpocleisis. Vaginectomy was performed by complete excision of the vaginal mucosa via a transperineal approach. We recorded perioperative outcomes and operative time. We performed a multivariate analysis to assess patient factors on operative outcomes. RESULTS Forty vaginectomies were performed between September 2016 and April 2019, 27 (67.5%) in phalloplasty patients and 13 (32.5%) in metoidioplasty patients. Perioperative complications included 2 blood transfusions, 1 pelvic hematoma, and 1 Clostridium cifficile colitis. No urethral fistulae to the vaginal space, mucoceles, or visceral injures were seen with a median follow-up of 7.7 months. Operative time decreased significantly with later surgery year. METHODS This was a retrospective cohort study using the American College of Surgeons National Surgical Quality Improvement Program database from 2010 to 2017. Patients were grouped into those with and without UTI. Pairwise analysis between groups was performed using χ and Fisher exact test. Multivariable logistic regression was used to identify independent predictors of UTI. RESULTS Of 23,097 women who underwent colpopexy, 1079 (4.7%) experienced a postoperative UTI. Urinary tract infection was most frequently diagnosed in the second week after surgery (38.2%), compared with week 1 (19.9%), 3 (22.8%), and 4 (19.1%) (P less then 0.001). Patients diagnosed with a UTI were more likely to have insulin-dependent diabetes (2.8% vs 1.7%, P = 0.006), coagulopathy (1.3% vs 0.7%, P = 0.04), and chronic steroid use (2.7% vs 1.8%, P = 0.004). Patients with a UTI versus those without a UTI were more likely to have undergone an intraperitoneal or extraperitoneal vaginal colpopexy (37.8% vs 30.5%, P less then 0.001) and (29.8% vs 25.6%, P = 0.003), respectively, and more likely to undergo combined anterior and posterior colporrhaphy (17.1% vs 12.2%, P less then 0.001). After logistic regression, intraoperative cystotomy repair (adjusted odds ratio = 2.93, 95% confidence interval = 1.54-5.59) was the most significant risk factor. CONCLUSIONS Postoperative UTI after colpopexy occurred less frequently than previously reported. The physical development and neurobehavioral test results of rat pups were recorded throughout the lactation period. Morris water maze (MWM) and novel object recognition (NOR) tests were performed from postnatal day 35 to day 42 to assess the learning and memory abilities of rat offspring in adolescence. The occurrence of hair growth and developments in neurological reflexes, such as improvements in limb grasp, righting reflex, and gait, were delayed in pups after perinatal methcathinone exposure compared with that in the control. Results from MWM and NOR tests indicate that perinatal methcathinone exposure induced deficits in spatial memory, learning ability, and novel object exploration in the adolescent offspring compared with that in the control. The impairment of spatial learning and memory was greater in the prenatal exposure group, while the impairment of novel object exploration was greater in the lactational exposure group. These data show that the prenatal and lactational methcathinone exposure induced the delay of physical and neurological reflex development and impaired learning and memory in rat offspring.PURPOSE This study aimed to estimate the health preference scores of the Chinese population with Diabetes Mellitus (DM) using the EQ-5D-5L Hong Kong (HK) population tariff according to different sociodemographic characteristics in HK. METHODS Data were obtained from a cross-sectional, territory-wide study of patient experience on specialist outpatient services in a public setting in HK. The EQ-5D-5L HK was used to collect the patients' health status. A total of 2326 respondents were reported to suffer from DM, and their information was elicited and used for the analysis in this study. A robust ANOVA method was used to compare the differences in EQ-5D-5L index scores among subgroups. Binary logistic regressions were used to predict the probability of respondents reporting full health, and ordinal least square (OLS) model was used to assess the relationship between DM and health-related quality of life (HRQoL). RESULTS The mean EQ-5D-5L index score for DM patients was 0.84. A total of 229 EQ-5D health states were reported. Altogether, 47.5% of the respondents reported having some problems with pain/discomfort, followed by mobility (26.4%), usual activities (26.0%), and anxiety/depression (23.5%). Logistic regression and OLS models indicated that male and fully employed respondents were less likely to report having problems with any of the five dimensions and index score of EQ-5D than female and non-fully employed respondents. The findings of OLS model also showed that DM patients that experience comorbidity with three and more chronic conditions were more likely to show a lower index score than respondents who reported living with DM alone. CONCLUSION The EQ-5D index scores varied among DM patient characteristics and were more highly impaired with multimorbidity status. Bronchi Segmentation upon High-Resolution Electronic Tomography Photographs Making use of Deep Studying: A primary Step with regard to Radiomics Studies.
This research presents a series of linked studies exploring the association between psychopathy and trauma. It comprises a systematic review (n = 58), followed by an expert Delphi (n = 19), and patient file trawl using a male forensic psychiatric patient sample (n = 66). An association between psychopathy and developmental trauma was predicted. It was further predicted that different types of trauma would be associated with different subtypes of psychopathy and that the severity of trauma would be important. The systematic review identified the following core themes presence of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and/or symptoms; trauma type; trauma/abuse variables; and sex differences. The ensuing Delphi study indicated the specific variant of psychopathy to be important, with secondary psychopathy particularly relevant. The final study found that the severity of developmental trauma related differentially to primary and secondary psychopathy. Implications and directions for future research are discussed, most notably with regards to the conceptualisation of psychopathy. For advocates of the rights of persons with disabilities, particularly persons with mental disabilities, the human right to live in the community as an equal member is seen to be central and, often, even as the basis for all other human rights. Yet, despite its articulation in human rights law in the Convention on the Rights of People with Disabilities (CRPD), foundational issues about the right remain undertheorized and unclear. This paper brings to bear the capabilities approach, a normative framework about human well-being, social development and social justice, to this central concern in disability rights, mental health ethics, and international human rights law protecting and respecting a person's right to live in a community as an equal. We argue that this human and moral right is best conceptualized as a capability to live in the community as an equal member. The capabilities approach provides this capability with a strong ethical framework and conceptual resources to guide reasoning and its practical realization. Municipal health-care workers have a key role for patients with OC decision, but little is known about how the legislation system with OC works from the municipality's point of view. BACKGROUND The incidence of involuntary hospitalisations varies widely among and within countries. One factor that could account for these variations is the local profile of medical doctors deciding on involuntary admissions. The first goal of this study was to test whether to decide on an involuntary hospitalisation was an individual or a situational disposition. The second goal was to explore doctors' characteristics associated with the use of coercion in specific situations. METHOD Medical doctors of four French-speaking Swiss cantons with the competence, according to cantonal laws, to decide on an involuntary hospitalisation were invited to take part in an online survey. Respondents were asked whether they would decide on an involuntary hospitalisation or not in seven clinical vignettes. Propensity to decide on involuntary hospitalisation was estimated with a two-parameter logistic item response model and latent class analysis. Univariate logistic regression models were used to test whether individual factors were associated with the use of coercion in each situation. RESULTS 192 medical doctors completed the online questionnaire. There was near-zero correlation between vignettes an involuntary hospitalisation decided on by a doctor in one situation was not related to the use of coercion in another. No subgroup was more prone to generally resort to coercion. However, some individual characteristics were related to the use of coercion in specific situations. CONCLUSIONS Medical doctors' propensity to use coercion for mental health problems was better accounted for by situational rather than dispositional factors. Thus, the use of coercion should be examined as a multidimensional concept. Environmental temperature and pH induced significant changes in the size and surface charge (ζ) of octenylsuccinated oat β-glucan aggregates. The underlying mechanisms were explored by using 1H-NMR, fluorescence spectra, thermodynamic analysis, and SAXS. At pH 6.5, the size decreased with temperature while ζ continuously increased. With increasing pH at 293 K, parabolic and U-shaped trends were observed in the size and ζ, peaking at pH 8.5 and 6.5, respectively. At any tested pH, the size decreased with temperature. Overall, ζ significantly increased with temperature at each pH. As temperature increased, the compactness of hydrophobic-domains increased while the compactness of hydrophilic-domains decreased. In an acidic environment, both the compactness increased with decreasing pH, but in an alkaline environment, they decreased with pH. The compactness changes were co-driven by enthalpy and entropy and corresponded to changes in the hydrophobic interactions in hydrophobic-domains, hydrogen bonds in hydrophilic-domains and electrostatic repulsions among octenylsuccinate molecules.

The first goal of this study was to test whether to decide on an involuntary hospitalisation was an individual or a situational disposition. The second goal was to explore doctors' characteristics associated with the use of coercion in specific situations. METHOD Medical doctors of four French-speaking Swiss cantons with the competence, according to cantonal laws, to decide on an involuntary hospitalisation were invited to take part in an online survey. Respondents were asked whether they would decide on an involuntary hospitalisation or not in seven clinical vignettes. Propensity to decide on involuntary hospitalisation was estimated with a two-parameter logistic item response model and latent class analysis. Univariate logistic regression models were used to test whether individual factors were associated with the use of coercion in each situation. RESULTS 192 medical doctors completed the online questionnaire. There was near-zero correlation between vignettes an involuntary hospitalisation decided on by a doctor in one situation was not related to the use of coercion in another. No subgroup was more prone to generally resort to coercion. However, some individual characteristics were related to the use of coercion in specific situations. CONCLUSIONS Medical doctors' propensity to use coercion for mental health problems was better accounted for by situational rather than dispositional factors. Thus, the use of coercion should be examined as a multidimensional concept. Environmental temperature and pH induced significant changes in the size and surface charge (ζ) of octenylsuccinated oat β-glucan aggregates. The underlying mechanisms were explored by using 1H-NMR, fluorescence spectra, thermodynamic analysis, and SAXS. At pH 6.5, the size decreased with temperature while ζ continuously increased. With increasing pH at 293 K, parabolic and U-shaped trends were observed in the size and ζ, peaking at pH 8.5 and 6.5, respectively. At any tested pH, the size decreased with temperature. Overall, ζ significantly increased with temperature at each pH. As temperature increased, the compactness of hydrophobic-domains increased while the compactness of hydrophilic-domains decreased. In an acidic environment, both the compactness increased with decreasing pH, but in an alkaline environment, they decreased with pH. INTRODUCTION Cemento-ossifying fibromas are rare, benign lesions of the head and neck regions. The origin of these lesions can be traced to the periodontal ligament, because its cells are able to form cement, lamellar bone, or fibrous tissue. CASE PRESENTATION A rare case report of a young Caucasian female with a COF is described including follow-ups. She remained untreated for several years despite early radiographic findings of the lesion without a definitive diagnosis. The patient ultimately underwent radical surgery and the whole lesion was removed. The subsequent histological examination confirmed the clinical diagnosis of a COF. Since then, the patient has been under regular clinical and radiological follow-ups. DISCUSSION This rare case report of a COF, documented over 18 years, shows the importance of consecutive therapy after radiologic and clinical findings, as such lesions continue growing and may subsequently lead to severe medical conditions. Therefore, complete surgical resection of COFs is advised to achieve good results in terms of health and recurrence. CONCLUSION Long-term follow-up of patients is required as recurrences can occur for up to 10 years following treatment. Well-planned radical and wide surgical resection of these lesions has proven not only to be effective in eliminating the aetiological factors, but can also achieve decent bone regeneration and aesthetic results with almost no deformation in the surgical site. METHODS Using the transjugular approach, a metal mesh stent was placed in the left hepatic vein of a 45-year-old man who presented with Budd-Chiari syndrome. After disappearance of ascites and improvement in liver function, Ex vivo Liver Resection and Autotransplantation were performed. RESULTS The patient underwent left hepatic vein stenting for Budd-Chiari syndrome without complication. Three months later, liver biopsy showed fibrous proliferation of interlobular portal areas and normal hepatic lobules. After successful Ex vivo Liver Resection and Autotransplantation, follow-up examination at 6 months showed normal liver function and no evidence of recurrence. CONCLUSIONS Allotransplantation is an accepted treatment for advanced hepatic alveolar echinococcosis with Budd-Chiari syndrome. However, shortage of organ donors and need for immunosuppression are challenging problems. In selected patients with hepatic vein stenoses presenting as Budd-Chiari syndreme, percutaneous stenting of hepatic veins followed by ex vivo liver resection and autotransplantation represent an alternative curative treatment option. The grafted region had hyperemic edges, necrotic appearance, purulent discharge and bone exposure in the nasal dorsum. The initial diagnostic hypothesis was an infectious process due to graft rejection, with likely evolution to osteomyelitis. The surgical procedure was performed by a multidisciplinary team and the patient received the antibiotic regimen according to the antibiogram, with hospital discharge after 39 days of hospitalization. DISCUSSION Treatment of osteomyelitis requires the combination of antimicrobial therapy and surgery. Despite surgical and chemotherapeutic advances, it is a difficult condition to treat and there is no universally accepted protocol for treatment. CONCLUSION Surgical treatment was essential for stabilization of the condition. AIMS/METHODOLOGY We established a novel approach based on a non-invasive adhesive tape-disc sampling combined with a powerful multiplexing technique called proximity extension assay for profiling 92 inflammatory cytokines, chemokines and surface molecules in the lesions of CL patients infected with L. tropica. Sample collection was done non-invasively by using adhesive tape-discs from lesion and normal skin of 33 L. tropica positive patients. RESULTS Out of 92 inflammatory proteins, the level of 34 proteins was significantly increased in the lesions of CL patients compared to their normal skin. This includes the chemokines CCL2, CCL3, CCL4, CXCL1, CXCL5, CXCL9, CXCL10 and CXCL11, together with the interleukins IL-6, IL-8, IL-18, LIF and OSM. The remaining significantly changed inflammatory proteins include 7 surface molecules and receptors CD5, CD40, CDCP1, 4E-BP1, TNFRSF9, IL-18R1 and OPG as well as 16 other cytokines and proteins MMP-1, CSF-1, VEGFA, uPA, EN-RAGE, LAP TGF-β1, HGF, MMP-10, CASP-8, TNFSF14, STAMPB, ADA, TRAIL and ST1A1. OBJECTIVE The present study explored the extent to which the new PGD criteria were accepted and perceived to meet the standards for clinical utility and international applicability among Chinese and German-speaking HP. METHODS Individual semistructured interviews were conducted in person, by phone, or online (e.g., via Skype), with 24 Chinese (n = 10) and German-speaking (n = 14) HP working with bereaved populations in China and Switzerland, and analyzed using a qualitative framework analysis. Questions included "what items are currently missing from the PGD criteria?". RESULTS Across all HP, the majority supported the inclusion of PGD and were generally aligned with the current criteria. HP found that the criteria distinguished between normal and abnormal grief and considered the criteria easy to use if their modifications were considered. Merits included, among others, improved clinical decision making, research promotion, and social acknowledgment. Main concerns included misdiagnosis, pathologization, and a lack of specificity of criteria. The importance of international applicability was emphasized across Chinese and German-speaking HP. Different grief-specific symptoms were identified by German-speaking and Chinese HP. CONCLUSIONS These findings provide evidence for the clinical utility and international applicability of ICD-11 PGD criteria among German-speaking and Chinese HP, as well as cultural similarities and differences in the barriers to implementation of these criteria. © 2020 S. HP found that the criteria distinguished between normal and abnormal grief and considered the criteria easy to use if their modifications were considered. Merits included, among others, improved clinical decision making, research promotion, and social acknowledgment. Main concerns included misdiagnosis, pathologization, and a lack of specificity of criteria. The importance of international applicability was emphasized across Chinese and German-speaking HP. Different grief-specific symptoms were identified by German-speaking and Chinese HP. CONCLUSIONS These findings provide evidence for the clinical utility and international applicability of ICD-11 PGD criteria among German-speaking and Chinese HP, as well as cultural similarities and differences in the barriers to implementation of these criteria. © 2020 S.
