  • Both cognitive function and striatal dopamine function decline by normal aging. However, the relationship among these three factors remains unclear. The aim of this study was to elucidate the association among age-related changes in the striatal dopamine transporter (DAT) and cognitive function in healthy subjects. The 30 healthy volunteers were enrolled in this research, the age ranged from 41 to 82 (64.5 ± 11.5, mean ± SD). All subjects were scanned with both T1-weighted magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and 123I-FP-CIT single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) images. The Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale-Third Edition (WAIS-III) was used to evaluate cognitive function. Six spherical regions of interest (ROI) using 10 mm in diameter on the caudate nucleus, anterior putamen and posterior putamen were manually drawn on MRI image which was applied onto SPECT image. The relationship between striatal occipital ratio (SOR) values and WAIS-III subscore were analyzed by multiple regression analysis. Subscores which was significant were further analyzed by path analyses. Full intelligence quotient (IQ), verbal IQ, verbal comprehension were all positively correlated with age-adjusted striatal DAT binding (P less then 0.01). Multiple regression analyses revealed that the coding digit symbol correlated with all striatal regions except for the left caudate (P less then 0.04). Picture completion and right caudate, similarities and left caudate also showed a positive correlation (P less then 0.04). Path analysis found that the right caudate and picture completion; the left caudate and similarities were correlated independently from age, whereas the models of coding digit symbol were not significant. These results suggest that age-based individual diversity of striatal DAT binding was associated with verbal function, and the caudate nucleus plays an important role in this association. In this study, we investigated whether electroencephalography can be used to analyze the influence of the auxiliary function of the TLS on brain function. Three male participants who had sustained below-elbow amputations and were myoelectric prosthesis users performed a series of physical movement trials with the TLS inactivated and activated. Trials were video recorded and a sequence of videos was prepared to represent each individual's own use while the system was inactivated and activated. In a subsequent motor imagery phase during which electroencephalography (EEG) signals were collected, each participant was asked to watch both videos of themself while actively imagining the physical movement depicted. Differences in mean cortical current and amplitude envelope correlation (AEC) values between supplementary motor areas (SMA) and each vertex were calculated. For all participants, there were differences in the mean cortical current generated by the motor imagery tasks when the TLS inactivated and activated conditions were compared. The AEC values were higher during the movement imagery task with TLS activation, although their distribution on the cortex varied between the three individuals. In both S1 and other brain areas, AEC values increased in conditions with the TLS activated. Evidence from this case series indicates that, in addition to motor control, TLS may change sensory stimulus recognition. Here we describe two experiments assessing whether tFUS could modulate mood in healthy human volunteers by targeting the right inferior frontal gyrus (rIFG), an area implicated in mood and emotional regulation. In a randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blind study, participants received 30 s of 500 kHz tFUS or a placebo control. Visual Analog Mood Scales (VAMS) assessed mood four times within an hour (baseline and three times after tFUS). Participants who received tFUS reported an overall increase in Global Affect (GA), an aggregate score from the VAMS scale, indicating a positive shift in mood. Experiment 2 examined resting-state functional (FC) connectivity using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) following 2 min of 500 kHz tFUS at the rIFG.

    The objective of this study is to develop a digital tool to provide support resources that might prevent and consider acute stress reactions in health care workers and other support staff due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

    The contents of the digital platform were created through an evidence-based review and consensus conference. The website was built using the Google Blogger tool. The Android version of the app was developed in the Java and XML languages using Android Studio version 3.6, and the iOS version was developed in the Swift language using Xcode version 11.5. The app was evaluated externally by the Andalusian Agency for Healthcare Quality.

Currently, observations within US contexts are lacking; therefore, we report on the rapid implementation of telepsychiatry and workflow experiences in a psychiatric practice based within a large health care system in southeast Texas with a national catchment area. We discuss the logistics of the implementation, including modes of communication, scheduling, coordination, and capacity; the psychological effects of web-based services, including both the loss of the physical therapeutic environment and the unique interpersonal dynamics experienced in the virtual environment; and postadoption patterns of engagement with our services and with other clinical functions affected by the rapid adaptation to telemedicine. Our art therapy group programming serves as an applied case study, demonstrating the value of a well-uding an initial acclimation session); and preserving interprofessional care team collaboration when the physical locations that normally facilitate such encounters are not accessible. We believe that careful observations of the strengths and challenges of telepsychiatry during this pandemic will better inform practices that are considering telepsychiatry adoption both within pandemic contexts and more broadly thereafter.

We explored The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA)-**** data set, by applying the network-based algorithm named SWItch Miner, and mapping the findings on the human interactome to capture the molecular interconnections associated with the disease modules. To characterize ** phenotypes, we constructed protein-protein interaction modules based on "hub genes", called switch genes, both common and specific to the four tumor subtypes. Transcriptomic profiles of patients were stratified according to both clinical (immunohistochemistry) and genetic (PAM50) classifications. 266 and 372 switch genes were identified from immunohistochemistry and PAM50 classifications, respectively. Moreover, the identified switch genes were functionally characterized to select an interconnected pathway of disease genes. By intersecting the common switch genes of the two classifications, we selected a unique signature of 28 disease genes that were ** subtype-independent and classification subtype-independent. To characterize BC phenotypes, we constructed protein-protein interaction modules based on "hub genes", called switch genes, both common and specific to the four tumor subtypes. Transcriptomic profiles of patients were stratified according to both clinical (immunohistochemistry) and genetic (PAM50) classifications. 266 and 372 switch genes were identified from immunohistochemistry and PAM50 classifications, respectively. Moreover, the identified switch genes were functionally characterized to select an interconnected pathway of disease genes. By intersecting the common switch genes of the two classifications, we selected a unique signature of 28 disease genes that were BC subtype-independent and classification subtype-independent. O objetivo deste artigo é identificar a frequência da síndrome lipodistrófica e seus fatores associados em pacientes portadores do HIV em uso de terapia antiretroviral. Estudo transversal com pacientes acompanhados ambulatorialmente. A síndrome foi avaliada pela associação de dois parâmetros emagrecimento periférico através da escala de gravidade de lipodistrofia e acúmulo de gordura central, mensurado pela relação cintura quadril. Para identificar as variáveis associadas foi realizada a análise de Regressão de Poisson. Dos 104 pacientes avaliados, 27,9% apresentaram a síndrome. Após ajuste, ser do sexo feminino (RPajustada = 2,16 IC95%1,43-3,39), ter excesso de peso (RPajustada = 2,23 IC95%1,35-2,65) e um maior tempo de uso dos antirretrovirais (RPajustada = 1,64 IC95%1,16-2,78) permaneceram positivamente associados à síndrome. De caráter transversal e analítico, incluiu 492 adolescentes de 10 a 19 anos de cinco escolas urbanas e cinco rurais do município. Foi aplicado um questionário sobre o consumo da alimentação escolar e de alimentos competitivos (aqueles comprados ou trazidos de casa) e realizada a avaliação antropométrica nos adolescentes. Os seus pais/responsáveis responderam um questionário demográfico e socioeconô****. Foi utilizado modelo de regressão de “odds” proporcionais ajustado para verificar as associações. O índice de adesão efetiva à alimentação escolar foi de 30,1% nas escolas rurais e de 23,7% nas urbanas. Não gostar das preparações servidas foi o principal motivo apontado para a não adesão. Observou-se menor adesão entre os adolescentes que possuíam maior renda familiar per capita e entre os que consumiam alimentos competitivos de 4 a 5x/semana. A adesão foi maior entre aqueles que consideravam a alimentação escolar saudável. Diante do baixo índice de adesão à alimentação escolar, a universalidade do atendimento não está sendo atingida. Os fatores apontados podem auxiliar em melhoras na execução do programa.in English, Portuguese O objetivo deste artigo é estimar as prevalências do estado nutricional e da insatisfação com o peso, em adolescentes de 10-19 anos. Estudo transversal de base populacional com amostra em dois estágios, realizado em Campinas, SP. O estado nutricional foi classificado pelos percentis de IMC para idade, da Organização Mundial da Saúde. A insatisfação com o peso foi obtida pelo relato dos que gostariam de ganhar ou perder peso. Calcularam-se as prevalências e os intervalos de confiança de 95% do estado nutricional e da (in)satisfação com o peso. As associações com as variáveis sociodemográficas foram verificadas pelo teste de χ2 de Rao Scott. Analisaram-se 822 adolescentes com idade média de 14,1 anos. Foram classificados com eutrofia 64,7% dos meninos e 75,4% das meninas e com excesso de peso 30,5% e 22,2%, respectivamente. Comparados aos meninos satisfeitos, 34,5% dos insatisfeitos eram eutróficos, 45,3% tinham sobrepeso e 77,1% obesidade. Comparadas às meninas satisfeitas, as insatisfeitas tinham 52,0% de eutrofia, 63,6% de sobrepeso e 75,2% de obesidade. Observaram-se elevadas prevalências de excesso de peso, principalmente nos meninos e nos mais jovens (10-14 anos), e maiores prevalências de insatisfação com o peso nas meninas e nos adolescentes de 15-19 anos.The aim of this study was to verify sleep hours and associated factors among Brazilian and Spanish students. A cross-sectional study with students aged 11 to 16 years-old was carried out in Paranavaí, Brasil (n = 264) and Cáceres, Spain (n = 233) between 2013 and 2015. Sleeping hours were verified regarding time in minutes, sleep in weekdays, weekends and after lunch/Siesta. All data were checked for normality by the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test. Mann-Whitney U test, Chi-square test (X2) and Odds Ratio estimates were used (p 8 hours, 6 to 8 hours and less then 6 hours among Spanish and Brazilian students, respectively. Nearly a quarter of each group responded that makes the siesta. Spanish students had 3 times higher chance to sleep less then 8 hours a night in weekdays, among students from 14 to 16 years old and among the underactive. At the weekends the chance of sleeping less then 8 hours is 2 times greater among the Spanish students. Simple guidelines could help so that sleep habits do not affect school development, such as practicing physical activity regularly, sleeping at least 8 hours a night, avoid excessive access to technology at night.

Estudo transversal com pacientes acompanhados ambulatorialmente. A síndrome foi avaliada pela associação de dois parâmetros emagrecimento periférico através da escala de gravidade de lipodistrofia e acúmulo de gordura central, mensurado pela relação cintura quadril. De caráter transversal e analítico, incluiu 492 adolescentes de 10 a 19 anos de cinco escolas urbanas e cinco rurais do município. Foi aplicado um questionário sobre o consumo da alimentação escolar e de alimentos competitivos (aqueles comprados ou trazidos de casa) e realizada a avaliação antropométrica nos adolescentes. Os seus pais/responsáveis responderam um questionário demográfico e socioeconômico. Foi utilizado modelo de regressão de “odds” proporcionais ajustado para verificar as associações. O índice de adesão efetiva à alimentação escolar foi de 30,1% nas escolas rurais e de 23,7% nas urbanas. Não gostar das preparações servidas foi o principal motivo apontado para a não adesão. Observou-se menor adesão entre os adolescentes que possuíam maior renda familiar per capita e entre os que consumiam alimentos competitivos de 4 a 5x/semana. A adesão foi maior entre aqueles que consideravam a alimentação escolar saudável. Diante do baixo índice de adesão à alimentação escolar, a universalidade do atendimento não está sendo atingida. Os fatores apontados podem auxiliar em melhoras na execução do programa.in English, Portuguese O objetivo deste artigo é estimar as prevalências do estado nutricional e da insatisfação com o peso, em adolescentes de 10-19 anos. Estudo transversal de base populacional com amostra em dois estágios, realizado em Campinas, SP. O estado nutricional foi classificado pelos percentis de IMC para idade, da Organização Mundial da Saúde. A insatisfação com o peso foi obtida pelo relato dos que gostariam de ganhar ou perder peso. Calcularam-se as prevalências e os intervalos de confiança de 95% do estado nutricional e da (in)satisfação com o peso. As associações com as variáveis sociodemográficas foram verificadas pelo teste de χ2 de Rao Scott. Analisaram-se 822 adolescentes com idade média de 14,1 anos. Foram classificados com eutrofia 64,7% dos meninos e 75,4% das meninas e com excesso de peso 30,5% e 22,2%, respectivamente. Comparados aos meninos satisfeitos, 34,5% dos insatisfeitos eram eutróficos, 45,3% tinham sobrepeso e 77,1% obesidade. Comparadas às meninas satisfeitas, as insatisfeitas tinham 52,0% de eutrofia, 63,6% de sobrepeso e 75,2% de obesidade. Observaram-se elevadas prevalências de excesso de peso, principalmente nos meninos e nos mais jovens (10-14 anos), e maiores prevalências de insatisfação com o peso nas meninas e nos adolescentes de 15-19 anos.The aim of this study was to verify sleep hours and associated factors among Brazilian and Spanish students. A cross-sectional study with students aged 11 to 16 years-old was carried out in Paranavaí, Brasil (n = 264) and Cáceres, Spain (n = 233) between 2013 and 2015. Sleeping hours were verified regarding time in minutes, sleep in weekdays, weekends and after lunch/Siesta. All data were checked for normality by the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test. Mann-Whitney U test, Chi-square test (X2) and Odds Ratio estimates were used (p 8 hours, 6 to 8 hours and less then 6 hours among Spanish and Brazilian students, respectively. Nearly a quarter of each group responded that makes the siesta. Spanish students had 3 times higher chance to sleep less then 8 hours a night in weekdays, among students from 14 to 16 years old and among the underactive. At the weekends the chance of sleeping less then 8 hours is 2 times greater among the Spanish students. Simple guidelines could help so that sleep habits do not affect school development, such as practicing physical activity regularly, sleeping at least 8 hours a night, avoid excessive access to technology at night.

RESULTS The first quality control instruments were implemented for IVOM therapy; however, important quality indicators (number of treatments per patient/year, loss of follow-up, course of function) are not yet evaluated nationwide in Germany and cannot therefore be taken into account for continuous improvement and QA reports. To date, not all ophthalmologists involved have been under review in the field of basic diagnostics and follow-up. Limiting QA to ophthalmic surgeons alone does not improve quality and many statutory health insurances actively prevent scientific investigations within selective contracts. CONCLUSION For the QA of imaging diagnostics, similar proficiency measures (random samples, round robin testing) are required in ophthalmology as in radiological disciplines. The communication of transparent quality indicators can reduce the risk in the medium term. The quality of treatment and results must not be left to chance, cost pressure or convenience. The manufacturers of software and diagnostic equipment should be oriented towards radiology, where the exchange of voxel-oriented image formats is now less and less hindered by proprietary formats.PURPOSE This study investigated the length changes of the anterior bundle of the medial collateral ligament (AMCL) and the lateral ulnar collateral ligament (LUCL) in forearm pronation and supination under axial load in vivo. METHODS Six healthy volunteers (2 males and 4 females, the average age of 44.6 years) were included in the study. CT scan of elbow joints was obtained at positions of forearm pronation and supination before and after load with the elbow extension. Mimics, Geomagic Studio, 3-matic Medical and Geometry Sketchpad were used to reconstruct three-dimensional models and analyze length changes of AMCL and LUCL. The AMCL and LUCL were divided, respectively, to three parts the medial part, the middle part and the lateral part. RESULTS Our results showed the length of the medial and middle parts of the AMCL significantly decreased from pronation to supination without load (0.46 mm, P  less then  0.05 and 0.43 mm, P  less then  0.05). With load, the length of the medial part and the middle of the AMCL significantly decreased from pronation to supination (0.62 mm, P  less then  0.05 and 0.44 mm P  less then  0.05). However, the length of the LUCL almost remained static for the forearm pronation and supination regardless of the axial load. CONCLUSION The results showed that tension of the AMCL increases in forearm pronation, and increased tension on the ligament during impact may pave the way to injury. Alterations of glucocorticoid secretion might be a mechanism explaining the linkage between burnout and reduced psychophysical functioning. Regarding hair cortisol as indicator this assumption, so far, has been only examined in cross-sectional studies. Therefore, we aimed to compare cross-sectional and prospective associations between different burnout symptoms and hair cortisol, additionally investigating potential nonlinear associations. METHODS The prospective study sample comprises 194 employees (95% nurses) from German geriatric care. We assessed burnout symptoms at baseline (t1) and 6 months later (t2) and collected hair samples for cortisol analyses at t2. RESULTS We found significant cross-sectional and prospective nonlinear (i.e., exponential) but not linear relationships between an aggregated measure of the burnout subscales emotional exhaustion, cynicism, and reduced efficacy and hair cortisol, even after adjusting for BMI and depressive mood. None of the single subscales of burnout was related to hair cortisol after adjusting for confounders. CONCLUSIONS Our findings further support the assumption that accumulated burnout symptoms and hypercorticolism are positively related.PURPOSE This article summarises a systematic literature review of skin exposure assessment methods and concepts for deriving skin (dermal) exposure limits for metals, using the construction industry, where there is a high prevalence of occupational skin exposures as a test environment. Articles were considered for inclusion if they evaluated skin or surface exposure to metals or discussed the feasibility of establishing skin or surface exposure limits in an occupational setting. Only full text, peer-reviewed articles were retrieved. All publications up to 30/06/2019 were considered. The quality of evidence was evaluated based on methodology. RESULTS A total of 71 studies were selected for inclusion in the review with 49 on skin exposure assessment methods for metals and 22 relating to the derivation of skin exposure limits. The use of wipe sampling methodologies was shown to be standardised and effective for sampling skin exposures to metals.

  • The adsorption and diffusion behaviors of magnesium (Mg) on monolayer Mo2C have been investigated by the first principles method based on density functional theory (DFT). The structural stability and theoretical capacity of monolayer Mo2C as anodes for magnesium-ion batteries (MIBs) have also been investigated. The results show that Mg prefer to occupy the H and TC sites with the adsorption energies of - 1.439 and - 1.430, respectively, followed by B and TMo sites on Mo2C monolayer. The Mg prefers to diffuse along the H-TC-H path, furthermore, the other two possible paths (along H-B-H and H-TMo-H) also possess quite low energy barrier with the value of about 0.039 eV. The present results demonstrate that the adsorption energy per Mg atom and the volume expansion change mildly. The volume expansions change slightly from 0.7 to 7.08% with the variety of x, ranging from 0.167 to 2.0. The theoretical gravimetric capacity reaches to 469.791 mAhg-1 with relatively small deformation and expansion as x = 2.0. The results mentioned above suggest that Mo2C monolayer is one of the promising candidates for anode material of MIBs.The etiologic diagnostic yield of community-onset pneumonia (COP) using conventional methods is low. Bacterial multiplex polymerase chain reaction (****) has been shown to be more sensitive than conventional methods. This study assessed the clinical factors influencing bacterial **** results in patients with COP. Patients with COP admitted to a tertiary care hospital between November 2015 and April 2016 were retrospectively assessed. Conventional methods included culture-based methods and serology for Mycoplasma pneumoniae. Bacterial **** that could identify Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae, Mycoplasma pneumoniae, and Legionella pneumophilia was performed. Bacterial **** was performed in a total of 342 patients with COP in the study. Bacterial **** alone provided etiology in 99 patients. The total etiologic diagnosis rates improved from 22.2 to 51.1% when bacterial **** was added to conventional methods. Additional diagnostic benefits of bacterial **** were more prominent in the prior antibiotic non-exposure group (77.8% vs 63.5%, P = 0.015) and in the low-risk group with low CURB 65 score (62.6% vs 44.9%, P = 0.005). Patients who required ICU care, those with healthcare-associated pneumonia (HCAP), and patients with any underlying diseases were not associated with the additional pathogen detection rates using bacterial ****. By supplementing conventional diagnostic methods with bacterial ****-based methods, the overall pathogen detection rates improved in patients with COP. It was observed that the pre-treatment of KPF reduced the Cisplatin mediated oxidative stress, inflammation, apoptosis and ameliorated renal injury and its functioning. Kaempferol suppressed the Cisplatin induced infiltration of mononuclear cells, levels of TNF-α, iNOS, IL-12, activation of NF-κB, phosphorylation of IκBα and nuclear translocation of p65 in renal tissues. Also KPF attenuated Cisplatin mediated phosphorylation of p38, ERK1/2 and JNK in renal tissues. Isl1 was deleted using the Pax2-Cre system, and deletion of both alleles was verified using cochlea sections. Changes in the number of prosensory region cells were measured to determine the effect of Isl1 on the development of the mouse prosensory region. In order to test whether Isl1 formed a protein complex with Ldb1 and Gata3, co-immunoprecipitation experiments were performed in HEK293 cells using the Flag-tagged LIM-domain of Isl1, HA-tagged LID of Ldb1 and ****tagged C-terminal domain of Gata3. The expression of Gata3, Sox2, Jag1 and P27 proteins in the prosensory region were not affected in Isl1-/- prosensory cells. Thus, Isl1 did not form a protein complex with Gata3 through Ldb1 in the Isl1-/- cells. Herein, we fabricated ZnTiO3/Bi4NbO8Cl heterojunction with improved performance via a typical mechanical mixing method. The rhodamine (RhB) degradation rate over heterojunction is higher than that of individual ZnTiO3 or Bi4NbO8Cl under Xenon-arc lamp irradiation. Combining ZnTiO3 with Bi4NbO8Cl can inhibit the recombination of photo-excited carriers. The improved quantum efficiency was demonstrated by transient-photocurrent responses (PC), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), photoluminescence (PL) spectra, and time-resolved PL (TRPL) spectra. Several small studies reported that metformin users have higher lactate levels at ICU admission without a concomitant increase in mortality. We aimed to determine whether the association between lactate levels around ICU admission and mortality is different in metformin users compared to metformin nonusers. METHODS This cohort study included patients admitted to ICUs in northern Denmark between January 2010 and August 2017 with any circulating lactate measured around ICU admission, which was defined as 12 h before until 6 h after admission. The association between the mean of the lactate levels measured during this period and 30-day mortality was determined for metformin users and nonusers by modelling restricted cubic splines obtained from a Cox regression model. Additionally, this study provides evidence of a hidden biodiversity of Cyrtodactylus in these regions.The association between alcohol consumption and kidney function is intriguing, but study results are mixed and controversial. We examined the association of alcohol consumption with the overall change in kidney function over 12 years. We analyzed data from a population-based cohort that was part of the Korean Genome and Epidemiology Study. Primary exposure was total alcohol intake (non-drinkers, 0 to  less then  10 g/day, 10 to  less then  30 g/day, and ≥ 30 g/day). Main outcome was decline in kidney function over 12 years. Our study included 5729 participants (mean [SD] age, 51 [8] years; 46% males). Compared to non-drinkers, higher alcohol intake groups had lesser reduction in estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) over 12 years; fully adjusted beta coefficients and 95% confidence intervals were 0.45 (- 0.27, 1.18), 1.87 (0.88, 2.87), and 3.08 (1.93, 4.24) for participants with alcohol intake of  less then  10, 10 to  less then  30, and ≥ 30 g/day, respectively. However, this association was attenuated among women, smoker, and age ≥ 60 year. Compared with not drinking, more frequent alcohol consumption and binge drinking were associated with lesser reduction in eGFR. Quiescent batch experiments with Fe0/FeS2/sand systems (sand loading 25 g L-1) and 20 mL of MB were performed for 41 days. Final pH values varied from 3.3 to 7.0. Results demonstrated that MB discoloration is only quantitative when the final pH value was larger than 4.5 and that adsorption and co-precipitation are the fundamental mechanisms of decontamination in Fe0/H2O systems. In this work, we further show that, after phagocyting and processing Pseudomonas aeruginosa, macrophages highly increase their efferocytic capacity without affecting their phagocytic function. Moreover, we demonstrate that Pseudomonas aeruginosa enhances efferocytosis of these phagocytes through the IL-6 signaling pathway. Our results show that the inflammatory response generated by the bacterial processing enhances these macrophages' capacity to control inflammation through an increased efferocytosis.

  • Blood flow (BF) to exercising muscles is susceptible to variations of intensity, and duration of skeletal muscle contractions, cardiac cycle, blood velocity, and vessel dilation. During cyclic muscle activity, these elements may change proportionally with or without direct optimal temporal alignment, likely influencing BF to active muscle. Ideally, the pulsed delivery of blood to active muscle timed with the inactive phase of muscle duty-cycle would enhance the peak and average BF. To investigate the phenomenon of muscle contraction and pulse synchronicity, electrically-evoked muscle contractions (trains of 20Hz, 200ms duration) were synchronized with each systolic phase of the blood velocity spectrum (aBVS). Specifically, unilateral quadriceps contractions matched in-phase (IP) with the aBVS were compared to contractions matched out of phase (OP) with the aBVS in 10 healthy participants (26±3 years). During each trial, femoral BF of the contracting limb and central hemodynamics were recorded for 5 minutes with an ultrasound doppler, a plethysmograph, and a cardioimpedence device. At steady-state (5th min) IP BF (454±30 mL/min), MAP (113±3 mmHg) and vascular conductance (4.3±0.2 mL/min/mmHg) were significantly lower (all, P0.05) was observed between IP and OP central hemodynamics (HR79±10 vs. 76±11 bpm, CO8.0±1.6 vs. 7.3±1.6 L/min) and ventilatory patterns (VE14±2 vs. 14±1 L/min, VO2421±70 vs. 397±34 mL/min). In the fall 2016, the Quebec Ministry of Health expanded the criteria to include healthy full-term (HFT) newborns from Nunavik based on their high RSV hospitalisation rates.Objectives The aim of this study was to describe the impact of this programme on Nunavik health services during the first RSV season after its implementation (2016-2017) by studying challenges, concerns and needs of healthcare workers (HCWs).Methods An ethnographic approach was used. Semi-structured interviews focusing on HCWs experiences, and opinions to improve the new programme were conducted with 20 HCWs involved in its implementation.Results Main reported challenges and concerns were additional work(over)load, lack of information and evidence about the need and efficacy of palivizumab in HFT newborns, communication issues between stakeholders, and ethical issues regarding the Inuit population.Conclusion The study revealed significant feasibility and acceptability issues. The programme was highly resource consuming. To address HCWs' concerns, evidence-based data regarding palivizumab effectiveness in HFT infants, as well as consultation and involvement of Inuit population are warranted.
