  • Auto-detection of cerebral aneurysms via convolutional neural network (CNN) is being increasingly reported. However, few studies to date have accurately predicted the risk, but not the diagnosis itself. We developed a multi-view CNN for the prediction of rupture risk involving small unruptured intracranial aneurysms (UIAs) based on three-dimensional (3D) digital subtraction angiography (DSA). A multi-view CNN-ResNet50 exhibited a sensitivity of 81.82 (66.76-91.29)%, a specificity of 81.63 (67.50-90.76)%, and an overall accuracy of 81.72 (66.98-90.92)% for risk prediction. AlexNet, VGG16, ResNet101, ResNet152, and single-view CNN-ResNet50 showed similar specificity. However, the sensitivity and overall accuracy were decreased (AlexNet, 63.64% and 76.34%; VGG16, 68.18% and 74.19%; ResNet101, 68.18% and 73.12%; ResNet152, 54.55% and 72.04%; and single-view CNN-ResNet50, 50.00% and 64.52%) compared with multi-view CNN-ResNet50. Regarding F1 score, it was the highest in multi-view CNN-ResNet50 (80.90 (67.29-91.81)%). Our study suggests that multi-view CNN-ResNet50 may be feasible to assess the rupture risk in small-sized UIAs.Modern plant-breeding practices have narrowed the genetic base of wheat, such that there is a need to introduce new germplasms with underexploited diversity into breeding programs. Wheat landraces are a very valuable resource when searching for genetic variation, which not only possess increased adaptability, but also quality-related traits. Several studies have shown a wide genetic diversity in Spanish wheat landraces compared to other germplasm collections; therefore, the main objective of this study is to analyze the variability in a collection of 189 landraces from the Spanish National Plant Genetic Resources Centre (Centro de Recursos Fitogenéticos, CRF-INIA, Alcalá de Henares), in relation to end-use quality traits. We characterized the whole collection for high-molecular-weight glutenin and puroindoline allelic composition, and for gluten strength. In addition, grain protein content, grains per spike, and thousand kernel weight were evaluated in samples from four-year field trials. The relationship between glutenin composition and quality was evaluated, and some alleles strongly associated with high quality were identified in the collection, some of them specific for Iberian landraces. This goal was achieved by means of a statistical analysis followed by a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) with porous media modelling approach. Critically, this increase was only observed when TRPV4 was activated after, but not before TGFβ stimulation. The increase was prevented by pharmacological TRPV4 inhibition or knockdown and is calcium/CamKII dependent. RNA-seq analysis after TRPV4 activation showed enrichment for the TGFβ signalling pathway and identified JUN and SP1 as key transcription factors involved in this response. The study was carried out on 543 participants (229 men and 314 women) from 20 provinces across China. Pedestrian behaviors were assessed by four factors errors, violations, aggressions, and lapses. Younger people reported performing riskier pedestrian behaviors compared to older people. Gender was not an influential factor. Of the factors explored, attitudes towards road safety explained the most amount of variance in self-reported behaviors. Significant additional variance in risky pedestrian behaviors was explained by the addition of fatalistic beliefs. The differences among the effects, and the implications for road safety intervention design, are discussed.

  • The number of refugees and displaced people who have been forced to migrate due to war, mass violence and political instability has reached unprecedented levels.

    The objective of this study was to assess the degree of depression, resilience and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in asylum-seeker war refugees, temporally stationed in Larisa, Central Greece, through self-administered questionnaire.

    A cross-sectional study carried out with asylum-seeker war refugees residing in Larisa at a number of apartments rented and ran by the UNHCR and the municipality of Larisa. For the data collection PHQ-9 questionnaire, CD-RISC questionnaire and Harvard Trauma questionnaire (HTQ) were used. Descriptive statistics were applied, as well as Cronbach's alpha coefficient. Simple regression, Pearson's correlation coefficient and one-way Anova was used.

    A total of 64 immigrants (40 males and 23 females, 1-mssing value) agreed to participate in the research. The mean age was 35.72 (SD 7.45), 35 respondents were class from their homeland, in a marginal state of collapse. The most important event-hope that sustains its moderate resilience is the grant of asylum and the hope of arrival in the country of destination.

A complete clinical and laboratory measurements before and after the process of patient education (at 30, 60 and 90 days) were performed. The clinical outcome was nutrition, body mass index, blood pressure, lipid, diabetic profile and physical activity. The pre-post tested (validity, reliability and pilot testing) structured questionnaire were used for data collection.

    All patients underwent education sessions by an experienced education nurse on 30, 60 and 90 days. At 90 days follow up, the BMI was decreased Pre-education (29.01±5.46), Post-education (27.72±4.71), t- 5.999 p<0.0001, glycaemic level Pre-education (6.50±2.15) and Post-education (6.02±1.63), t- 4.157, p<0.0001 was decreased, HbA1c in Pre-education (6.23±2.06) and Post-education (5.72±1.44) t- 4.036 p<0.0001 respectively. The lipid profile was also changed at the 90 days follow-up cholesterol, triglyceride and LDL-C were decreased (p<0.0001 for all), whereas HDL-C was increased (p<0.0001), by educational program at 90 days follow up. Whereas, blood pressure remains unchanged.

The family doctor is informed with living conditions of the residents and has the opportunity to monitor the rate of secondary transmission from the index case, and then recommend additional preventative and treatment measures.

    This is a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomised controlled trials. Quality of evidence was assessed using Jadad scoring system.

    Three electronic databases were searched for available publications up to 1 May 2020. Searches included relevant studies, trial registers, conference proceeding abstracts and grey literature.

    Randomised controlled trials with data focused on adult participants (ie, 18 years of age or older) receiving dolutegravir 50 mg, rilpivirine 25 mg or combination of dolutegravir 50 mg/rilpivirine 25 mg once daily.

    Twenty studies with a minimum duration of 48 weeks and average Jadad score of 4 were included (n=10 998). Primary objective demonstrated a relative risk (RR) synergistic effect on depressive symptoms for dolutegravir/rilpivirine (RR=2.82; 95% CI (1.12 to 7.10))and dolutegravir/rilpivirine antiretroviral therapy when compared with efavirenz-based antiretroviral therapy.

Three electronic databases were searched for available publications up to 1 May 2020. Searches included relevant studies, trial registers, conference proceeding abstracts and grey literature.     Female breasts are exposed to scattered radiation regardless of not being included in the primary field during head CT. This study aimed to investigate whether the use of lead shielding is beneficial in dose reduction to the breasts during head CT.

    The study was performed in two different hospitals on two different CT units and included 120 patients. Half of the measurements (n = 60) was conducted without the use of lead shielding and the other half (n = 60) with the use of lead shielding of 0.5 mm equivalent thickness.

    Significant skin dose reduction to the breasts during head CT in both hospitals with the use of lead shielding was discovered; 81% (338.2 ± 43.7 μGy to 64.3 ± 18.8 μGy) in Hospital A and 74% (from 253.1 ± 35.1 μGy to 65.3 ± 16.9 μGy) in Hospital B.

Specifically, up to a 13.7% increase in compressive strength is observed when unmodified CD is substituted with PMMA-CD in PMMA samples with 10 wt% CD microparticles.     Information on whether a fine-needle biopsy (FNB) needle can improve histopathological specimen quality or the amount of core tissue collected in the diagnosis of subepithelial lesions (SELs) remains insufficient. In this study, we aimed to compare the procedure outcomes and adequacy of histopathological specimens of fine-needle aspiration (FNA) and FNB needles in endoscopic ultrasound-guided tissue acquisition (EUS-TA) using sample isolation processing by stereomicroscopy (SIPS) in patients with SELs.

    We performed a retrospective comparison of SEL cases registered in two previously conducted prospective studies. Of 61 cases, we identified 56 cases of SELs that involved the muscularis propria layer. Of these, 27 patients who underwent EUS-TA using a 22-gauge FNA needle between July 2016 and December 2017, and 29 patients who underwent the procedure using a 22-gauge FNB needle between March 2018 and January 2019 were included in the FNA and FNB group, respectively.

    Patient background characteristics did not differ between the groups. The technical success rate was 100% in both groups. The median adequacy score was significantly higher in the FNB group than in the FNA group (P < .01). The histological diagnosis showed no significant difference in the accuracy rate between the groups.

It effectively provides a systematic overview on the past and current applications of organoids and discusses the future perspectives and suggestions to improve this technology and its applications.To investigate the effects of radiation on rat submandibular glands and the possible protective effects of ischemic preconditioning, the submandibular glands of Wistar rats were subjected to in situ radiation after ischemic preconditioning. The glands were exposed to X-radiation at a single dose of 20 Gy. Ischemic preconditioning was achieved by three min of ischemia and three min of reperfusion, repeated three times before irradiation. Salivary secretion, histological changes, alterations in tight junctions, and the levels of oxidative stress, pro-inflammatory cytokines, and water secretion proteins mediated by the muscarinic acetylcholine M3 subtype receptor were determined at 1 and 12 weeks post-irradiation. In glands subjected to irradiation only, the secretion, superoxide dismutase activity, tight junction width, acinar cell number, and M3 receptor and aquaporin-5 levels were lower at 1 and 12 weeks than seen in the ischemically preconditioned irradiated glands. In contrast, tumor necrosis factor-α, malondialdehyde, myeloperoxidase activity, and the expression of the tight junction protein claudin-4 were significantly higher in the irradiated only glands. Our study revealed that radiation caused a series of injury-stress responses, especially damage to the water secretion pathway mediated by the M3 receptor that ultimately led to hyposecretion, which might play an important role in the dysfunction of the irradiated only glands. It effectively provides a systematic overview on the past and current applications of organoids and discusses the future perspectives and suggestions to improve this technology and its applications.To investigate the effects of radiation on rat submandibular glands and the possible protective effects of ischemic preconditioning, the submandibular glands of Wistar rats were subjected to in situ radiation after ischemic preconditioning. The glands were exposed to X-radiation at a single dose of 20 Gy. Ischemic preconditioning was achieved by three min of ischemia and three min of reperfusion, repeated three times before irradiation. Salivary secretion, histological changes, alterations in tight junctions, and the levels of oxidative stress, pro-inflammatory cytokines, and water secretion proteins mediated by the muscarinic acetylcholine M3 subtype receptor were determined at 1 and 12 weeks post-irradiation. In glands subjected to irradiation only, the secretion, superoxide dismutase activity, tight junction width, acinar cell number, and M3 receptor and aquaporin-5 levels were lower at 1 and 12 weeks than seen in the ischemically preconditioned irradiated glands. In contrast, tumor necrosis factor-α, malondialdehyde, myeloperoxidase activity, and the expression of the tight junction protein claudin-4 were significantly higher in the irradiated only glands. Our study revealed that radiation caused a series of injury-stress responses, especially damage to the water secretion pathway mediated by the M3 receptor that ultimately led to hyposecretion, which might play an important role in the dysfunction of the irradiated only glands. Ischemic preconditioning reduced the radiation-induced injury to submandibular glands and ameliorated salivary hyposecretion.Thiazine formation during the conjugation of N-terminal cysteine peptides to maleimides is an underreported side reaction in the peptide literature. When the conjugation was performed at neutral and basic pH, we observed the thiazine isomer as a significant by-product. Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy confirmed the structure of the six-membered thiazine and ultra-high performance liquid chromatography (UHPLC) combined with tandem mass spectrometry (MS/MS) allowed for facile, unambiguous detection due to a unique thiazine mass fragment. Furthermore, substitution of various amino acids adjacent to the N-terminal cysteine in a tripeptide model system resulted in different rates of thiazine formation, albeit within the same order of magnitude. We also determined that varying the N-substitution of the maleimide affects the thiazine conversion rate.     The objective of this study was to perform effective dose estimation in cone-beam CT for dental use (CBCT) using a Monte-Carlo simulation employing a step-and-shoot method as well as to determine the optimal number of steps.

    We simulated 3DX Accuitomo FPD8 as a CBCT model and estimated the effective doses of a large and a small field of view (FOV) examination against the virtual Rando phantom using a particle and heavy ion transport code system. We confirmed the results compared to those from a thermo-luminescence dosemeter (TLD) system in a real phantom and investigated how the reduced angle calculations could be accepted.

    The effective doses of both FOVs estimated with each one degree were almost the same as those estimated from the TLD measurements. Considering the effective doses and the itemized organ doses, simulation with 5° and 10° is acceptable for the large and small FOV, respectively. We tried to compare an effective dose with a large FOV as well as with multiple small FOVs covering the corresponding area and found that the effective dose from six small FOVs was approximately 1.

We coassembled PEG-Q11 and PEG-Q11R9 peptides to titrate the concentration of R9 within nanofibers. In vitro, PEG-Q11R9 fibers and cyclic-di-GMP or cyclic-di-AMP adjuvants had a synergistic effect on enhancing dendritic cell activation that was STING-dependent and increased monotonically with increasing R9 concentration. The polyvalent display of R9 on assembled nanofibers was significantly more effective at promoting CDN-mediated DC activation in vitro than mixing nanofibers with an equimolar concentration of unassembled R9 peptide. The sublingual administration of nanofibers revealed a ****-shaped trend between increasing R9 concentration and enhancements to antigen trafficking and the activation of DCs in the draining lymph nodes.     Overweight and obesity affect an increasing number of children and adolescents in Poland. This excessive body weight usually coexists with sleep disorders and other afflictions, which is worrisome.

    The aim of the study was to assess the prevalence of overweight, obesity, and sleep disorders among adolescents and demonstrate their relationships.

    The study included 1,002 students. Nutritional habits and subjective assessment of sleep were evaluated with the author's survey; daytime sleepiness and sleep quality were assessed with Epworth Sleepiness Scale (ESS) and Sleep Quality Scale (SQS). Statistical calculations were performed with the STATISTICA 12.0 programme.

    24.7% of adolescents suffered from overweight or obesity, 38% reported sleep problems in subjective assessment, 10.5% exhibited excessive daytime sleepiness, determined by ESS, and 14.3% had impaired quality of sleep as determined by SQS. Gender affected all the discussed problems. Type of school affected all the above, except for daytime sleearning difficulties among adolescents.
    Anti-PM/Scl (a-PM/Scl) antibodies are found in different systemic autoimmune diseases such as polymyositis, dermatomyositis, systemic sclerosis (SSc) and overlap syndromes. According to literature, they are detected in approx. 2% of SSc patients, but their presence is more common in SSc with myositis overlap.

    The aim of the study was to assess the prevalence of a-PM/Scl in patients with SSc and to identify differences in the clinical profile of the disease in patients with the presence of a-PM/Scl.

    The study was performed on 126 European Caucasian SSc patients (98 females and 28 males) hospitalized consecutively in the Department of Rheumatology and Connective Tissue Diseases. The study group was analyzed for the potential presence of a-PM/Scl using a commercial test - EUROLINE Systemic Sclerosis Profile. The detection and interpretation were carried out electronically using the specific Euroimmun - EUROLineScan programme. The subtype of SSc, incidence of internal organ involvement and serological profile were determined in the entire group. Due to the presence of a-PM/Scl, patients were divided into two groups a-PM/Scl (+) SSc - 22 patients and a-PM/Scl (-) SSc - 104 patients.

    A-PM/Scl was detected in 22/126 patients with SSc (17.5%). A strong correlation was found between a-PM/Scl and myalgia or myositis (p = 0.0379), hand joints contractures (p = 0.0002) and the prevalence of overlap syndrome (p = 0.0142). There were no relationships between the presence of a-PM/Scl and subtypes of SSc, other organ involvement, digital ulcers or calcinosis.

    Premature babies are a special group at risk of persistent brain damage caused by diseases, the most serious of which are cerebral palsy(CP), autism spectrum disorders (ASD) and mental retardation, among others. These conditions may occur concurrently, but appear more often as separate disease syndromes in the same group of at-risk children. Long-term observation of psychomotor development by an interdisciplinary medical team closely cooperating with parents is necessary. It is important to detect the risk of developing these diseases as soon as possible in all development spheres.

The polyvalent display of R9 on assembled nanofibers was significantly more effective at promoting CDN-mediated DC activation in vitro than mixing nanofibers with an equimolar concentration of unassembled R9 peptide. Overweight and obesity affect an increasing number of children and adolescents in Poland. This excessive body weight usually coexists with sleep disorders and other afflictions, which is worrisome. The aim of the study was to assess the prevalence of overweight, obesity, and sleep disorders among adolescents and demonstrate their relationships. The study included 1,002 students. Nutritional habits and subjective assessment of sleep were evaluated with the author's survey; daytime sleepiness and sleep quality were assessed with Epworth Sleepiness Scale (ESS) and Sleep Quality Scale (SQS). Statistical calculations were performed with the STATISTICA 12.0 programme. 24.7% of adolescents suffered from overweight or obesity, 38% reported sleep problems in subjective assessment, 10.5% exhibited excessive daytime sleepiness, determined by ESS, and 14.3% had impaired quality of sleep as determined by SQS. Gender affected all the discussed problems. Type of school affected all the above, except for daytime sleearning difficulties among adolescents. The study was performed on 126 European Caucasian SSc patients (98 females and 28 males) hospitalized consecutively in the Department of Rheumatology and Connective Tissue Diseases. The study group was analyzed for the potential presence of a-PM/Scl using a commercial test - EUROLINE Systemic Sclerosis Profile. The detection and interpretation were carried out electronically using the specific Euroimmun - EUROLineScan programme. The subtype of SSc, incidence of internal organ involvement and serological profile were determined in the entire group. Due to the presence of a-PM/Scl, patients were divided into two groups a-PM/Scl (+) SSc - 22 patients and a-PM/Scl (-) SSc - 104 patients. A-PM/Scl was detected in 22/126 patients with SSc (17.5%).   • Even treated chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyradiculoneuropathy (CIDP) continues to pose a significant burden in patients' everyday functioning and may continuously affect their quality of life (QoL). The aims of our prospective study were to analyze health-related QoL in CIDP patients during a 1-year follow-up period in real-life settings and to compare QoL changes with changes in disability and with patient impression of change.

    The study comprised 59 patients diagnosed with CIDP. SF-36 questionnaire was applied in order to evaluate patients' QoL. Inflammatory neuropathy cause and treatment (INCAT) disability scale was used to assess patients' functionality. The second question from the SF-36 questionnaire was used as an estimation of the patient impression of change (PIC) after 1 year.

    SF-36 scores did not change over time in the group as a whole. According to INCAT disability scores, worsening was registered in 24 (40%) patients and improvement in 8 (14%). Morphological and genetic analysis are the most commonly applied methods to analyze plant fragment evidence but are limited by their low capacity to differentiate between potential source locations, especially at local scales. Here, we review the current applications and limitations of current plant fragment analysis for forensic investigations and introduce the potential of microbiome analysis to complement the existing forensic plant fragment analysis toolkit. The potential for plant fragment provenance identification at geographic scales meaningful to forensic investigations warrants further investigation of the phyllosphere microbiome in this context. To that end we identify three key areas of future research 1) Retrieval of microbial DNA of sufficient quality and quantity from botanical material; 2) Variability of the phyllosphere microbiome at different taxonomic and spatial scales, with explicit reference to assignment capacity; 3) Impacts on assignment capacity of time, seasonality and movement of fragments between locations.

  • Nucleotide excision repair (NER) is the main pathway to repair bulky DNA damages including pyrimidine dimers, and the genetic dysregulation of NER associated proteins is well known to cause diseases such as cancer and neurological disorder. Other than the genetic defects, 'external factors' such as oxidative stress and environmental chemicals also affect NER. Human keratinocytes, HaCaT, slightly died after 48 h incubation in DMEM at pH 8.4, 7.6 and 6.6, while in pH 6.2 condition, marked cell death was induced. UV-induced pyrimidine dimers, pyrimidine (6-4) pyrimidone photoproducts (6-4PPs) and cyclobutane pyrimidine dimers (CPDs), were effectively repaired at 60 min and 24 h, respectively, which were remarkably inhibited at pH 6.6 and 6.2. The associated repair molecule, TFIIH, was accumulated to the damaged sites 5 min after UVC irradiation in all pH conditions, but the release was delayed as the pH got lower. Furthermore, accumulation of XPG at 5 min was delayed at pH 6.2 and 6.6, and the release at 60 min was completely suppressed. At the low pH, the DNA synthesis at the gaps created by incision of oligonucleotides containing pyrimidine dimers was significantly delayed. In this study, we found that the low extracellular pH inhibited NER pathway. This might partially contribute to carcinogenesis in inflamed tissues, which exhibit acidic pH.Deoxynivalenol (DON), zearalenone (ZEN), and fumonisin B1 (FB1), as the main mycotoxins contaminating rice, often coexist in food. Thus, we have measured the genotoxicity of the three rice fungal contaminants, singly and in different combinations, with a 28-day multi-endpoint (Pig-a assay + in vivo micronucleus [MN] test + comet assay) genotoxicity platform. Male Sprague-Dawley rats received the agents orally via gavage for 28 consecutive days, before performing the abovementioned tests. Results indicated that low dose of a single mycotoxin did not show significant genotoxicity. However, some of these mycotoxins in combination induced significant genotoxicity in the peripheral blood and tissues, at sacrifice. In the peripheral blood, the binary combination of DON and FB1 significantly induced MN. In the liver, ZEN might aggravate the DNA-damaging effects of DON and FB1. Therefore, the genotoxicity of sub-chronic exposure to mycotoxins in combination cannot be ignored.The alkaline comet assay has been widely used to determine genotoxicity in human populations exposed to arsenic. The sample sizes of earlier studies were usually small, and inconsistent results were found. Meta-analyses can merge the results of multiple studies of the same type and increase the credibility of the conclusion by increasing the sample size. Thus, to investigate the monitoring effect of alkaline comet assay on genotoxicity for arsenic exposed population, meta-analyses were performed. Thirteen studies were found to meet the inclusion criteria and were included in this study; of them, twelve articles were of medium quality (15-20 points), only one study was of high quality (21-27 points). Meta-analyses showed that the overall estimates of Mean Ratio (MR, defined as the mean value of the response in the exposed group divided by that in the reference group) were 2.81(95 % confidence interval (CI) 1.93-4.10); 2.37(95 % CI, 1.73-3.26), and 1.69(95 %CI, 1.29-2.20) for comet tail length, % tail DNA, and tail moment, respectively. This shows that the level of DNA damage in arsenic exposed population is significantly higher than that in control populations. A meta-analysis of the correlation coefficients showed that the overall estimate was 0.52 (95 %CI, 0.48∼0.56, P less then 0.05) with all correlation coefficients included, but it changed to 0.24 (95 %CI, 0.17∼0.28, P less then 0.05) when two abnormal correlation coefficients were excluded, suggesting there was a positive correlation between arsenic load in vivo and DNA damage, but the overall estimate value of coefficients was unstable. Therefore, we conclude that the alkaline comet assay can be used as an effective genotoxic biomonitoring tool for arsenic-exposed populations. Two concentrations of MMS were tested in cultured peripheral blood. Relative to controls, MMS exposure reduced the number of metaphases observed, but both the numbers of cells with MN and the percentages of aberrant metaphases increased. The types of CA identified were chromosome and chromatid breaks, chromosomal rearrangements, monosomies, and nullisomies, with significantly higher values in the MMS-exposed groups. In the first half of the 19th century, experimental studies progressively increased knowledge of aggressive disorders. A neurobiologic approach revealed the posterior hypothalamic region as a key structure for the modulation of aggression. In the 1960s, patients with severe aggressive disorder, frequently associated with intellectual disability, were treated by bilateral stereotactic lesioning of the posterior hypothalamic area, with efficacy. This therapy was later abandoned because of issues related to the misuse of psychosurgery. In the last 2 decades, however, the same diencephalic target has been selected for the reversible treatment by deep brain stimulation, with success. Two concentrations of MMS were tested in cultured peripheral blood. Relative to controls, MMS exposure reduced the number of metaphases observed, but both the numbers of cells with MN and the percentages of aberrant metaphases increased. The types of CA identified were chromosome and chromatid breaks, chromosomal rearrangements, monosomies, and nullisomies, with significantly higher values in the MMS-exposed groups. The incorporation of the MI and CA tests in C. latirostris can provide information on damage caused by xenobiotic exposures.Intermittent explosive disorder can be described as a severe "affective aggression" condition, for which drugs and other supportive therapies are not fully effective. In the first half of the 19th century, experimental studies progressively increased knowledge of aggressive disorders. A neurobiologic approach revealed the posterior hypothalamic region as a key structure for the modulation of aggression. In the 1960s, patients with severe aggressive disorder, frequently associated with intellectual disability, were treated by bilateral stereotactic lesioning of the posterior hypothalamic area, with efficacy. This therapy was later abandoned because of issues related to the misuse of psychosurgery. In the last 2 decades, however, the same diencephalic target has been selected for the reversible treatment by deep brain stimulation, with success. This chapter presents a comprehensive approach to posterior hypothalamic surgery for the treatment of severely aggressive patients and discusses the experimental steps that allowed this surgical target to be selected.
