While clinical uncertainty is often framed as a problem to be managed, in this instance, overlapping uncertainties provided an opportunity through which enterprising clinicians could generate reform at the local level. However, these clinician-led changes were incremental, situational, and partial, and occurred outside of broader systemic reform. In the following article, we draw on 46 interviews with clinicians and staff associated with IGMVs and observations of 34 sessions of 22 distinct IGMVs. We begin by describing the structure of the IGMVs we observed. We analyze the multiple uncertainties surrounding chronic pain and its treatment at the time of our data collection, just before the opioid crisis was declared a national public health emergency.

It is necessary to develop modern management methods, rational application of health care resources, implementation of economic incentives in all components of health care system, ensure functioning of the system, including effective contract.The diseases of skin and subcutaneous tissue, despite the constantly improving methods of their diagnosis and treatment, continue to widespread in the population of the Russian Federation. Consequently, it is relevant to develop evidence-based measures of improving dermatological medical care for the population. The purpose of study is to develop and substantiate proposals for improving specialized medical care of patients with chronic dermatitis in megalopolis. The questionnaire survey of 412 patients with chronic dermatitis, residing in Moscow, and 197 dermatovenerologists from Moscow state medical institutions was carried out. The measures of improving dermatological medical care were proposed. The study identified lacking of adequate provision of therapeutic and preventive medical care of patients with chronic dermatitis and their relatively low medical activity. The article substantiates proposals for improving of organization and provision of dermatological medical care, provided by medical and organizational activities for patients and doctors. To select the optimal strategy for patients with chronic dermatitis, the appropriate algorithm was developed that included four consecutive stages initial examination of patient; patient records filling in with data of additional laboratory diagnosis; prescription of drug and non-drug therapy; conducting of preventive courses of drug therapy and prescription of SPA-treatment. The results of study inputted into identification of risks associated with provision of specialized medical care in area of Dermatovenerology and medical activity of patients including subsequent development of proposals for their elimination.The article considers the role of interdepartmental cooperation in modernization of health sector at the regional level exemplified by Mari El Republic. Based on data of study monitoring, the dynamics of medical and demographic indicators are determined. Over the past five years, life expectancy increased, patient satisfaction with medical care increased. Its accessibility increased in rural areas. Statistical monitoring of implementation of requirements to accessibility and quality of medical care was carried out. The article presents original scheme of interaction between twelve ministries and departments of the Republic. The proposals of to improve quality and accessibility of medical care, the prestige of medical profession and implementation of healthy lifestyles are proposed.The maternal and child welfare system development is the priority target for state social policy. The strategic objectives of health care are targeted to preserving health of mother and child and are implemented through complex activities of various state institutions of maternity and childhood protection system with predominant focus on medical social and economic efficiency. The purpose of study is sociological hygienic evaluation of actual state of maternity and childhood health protection system at the Trans-Baikal Territory. The study used sanitary-statistical, sociological, structural, organizational, expert methods. The estimation of reliability of difference of dependent samples with qualitative indicators was carried out on the basis of the calculation of the non-parametric Cochran test. According to the results of expert assessment, the most significant problem areas in the system of maternity and childhood health protection at the regional level were identified material and technical equipment of medical organizations, scarce staffing of medical organizations, lack of legal regulation, inadequate organization of medical care of children within the framework of implementation of procedures of provision of medical care, limited availability of medical care, declarative nature of the order of interdepartmental interaction of medical organizations with state social institutions in the system of maternal and child health protection. The established problem areas have negative impact on medical and demographic indicators, coefficients of health of the population in the region and result in decreasing in medical, social and economic efficiency of health care system. The current situation requires adoption of organizational and managerial decisions by executive authorities.The article presents the results of study targeted to assessing the level of awareness of students about HIV-infection. On the basis of analysis of publications data, it was established that students of the Russian universities are generally informed about ways of transmission HIV-infection and means and measures of its prevention. It was demonstrated that Russian students are not sufficiently aware of the clinical manifestations of HIV-infection, they do not fully understand the danger of HIV infection as a fatal disease, and often experience phobias against persons living with HIV-infection. The article presented the results of empirical survey of students of the Cherepovets State University (n = 103). The methods of research included statistical analysis, questionnaire, Spirman's rank correlation coefficient. It was established that majority of respondents underestimate the risk of HIV-infection and lack reliable information about prevalence of HIV-infection in the territory of residence. The correlation analysis demonstrated that information about HIV-infection is more significant for students who believe that HIV-infection can concern them.

We prepared an ophthalmic solution formulation of Tacrolimus using hydroxypropyl beta cyclodextrin (HP-ßCD). In the present study, safety of this formulation was investigated in rabbits. Materials and Methods Formulation containing HP-ßCD, Tacrolimus, Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and Benzalkonium Chloride in PBS 7.4 was prepared. Tacrolimus concentration in ophthalmic preparation was 0.05% w/v. Methods Retrospective study of consecutive patients who met inclusion criteria and underwent PPV for RLF in the vitreous cavity at an urban teaching hospital between January 2010 and January 2016 (N=20). Main Outcomes/Measures Visual acuity was recorded pre- and post-operatively over a follow-up period of 3 to 12 months. Complications and patient factors contributing to outcomes were assessed using paired and unpaired t-tests and multiple linear regression. Results The average rate of cataract surgery with RLF requiring PPV was 0.75%. Twenty patients met inclusion criteria. Mean pre-operative visual acuity (VA) was logMAR 1.7 (Snellen 20/1000). Nearly half (8/20) had nuclear cataracts grade 3+ or higher. The majority (14/20) had factors predisposing them to cataract surgery complications. Most patients underwent PPV within 1 week (median 6.5 days). Methods Retrospective study of consecutive patients who met inclusion criteria and underwent PPV for RLF in the vitreous cavity at an urban teaching hospital between January 2010 and January 2016 (N=20). Main Outcomes/Measures Visual acuity was recorded pre- and post-operatively over a follow-up period of 3 to 12 months. Complications and patient factors contributing to outcomes were assessed using paired and unpaired t-tests and multiple linear regression. Results The average rate of cataract surgery with RLF requiring PPV was 0.75%. Twenty patients met inclusion criteria. Mean pre-operative visual acuity (VA) was logMAR 1.7 (Snellen 20/1000). Nearly half (8/20) had nuclear cataracts grade 3+ or higher. The majority (14/20) had factors predisposing them to cataract surgery complications. Most patients underwent PPV within 1 week (median 6.5 days). Specific, simple, and pragmatic strategies used in China for risk assessment, prioritization, and deployment of resources are described. Details of implementation, at different risk levels, of the traditional public health interventions are shared. Involvement of society in mounting a whole country response and challenges experienced with logistics and supply chains are described. Slaughter and boning room surface samples from each abattoir were analysed using 16S rRNA amplicon sequencing and tested for Top 7 STEC following the Food Safety Inspection Services protocol. Potential positives (PPs) through slaughter were similar between the abattoirs (64 - 81%). However, abattoir B had substantially reduced PPs in the boning room compared to abattoir A (A 23% and 48%, B 2% and 7%).

The effect of enrichment, disturbances and public presence was less clear and strongly depended on the group, the type of enrichment and disturbance. Our results confirm that captive odontocetes' social behaviors are influenced by the context, and that, depending on the group, some of them, such as pectoral contacts, other body contacts, agonistic interactions or social play exhibit consistent patterns across contexts. Monitoring these behaviors might be useful to adapt the captive management to each species and group. The different responses among the three studied groups confirm that species and groups react differently to a stimulus and therefore, management decisions should be species/group specific. We recommend that more studies should be conducted to validate our findings in other groups of odontocetes under human care.Graphene and its derivatives, with their unique two-dimensional structures and excellent physical and chemical properties, have been an international research hotspot both in the research community and industry. Particularly, microbial species in geothermal areas in Argentina have been scarcely explored regarding their possible biotechnological uses. The purpose of this work was to explore the proteolytic and keratinolytic enzymatic potential of microorganisms that inhabit in the Domuyo geothermal area in the Neuquén Province. To this end, we did enrichment cultures from two high-temperature natural samples in mineral media only supplemented with whole chicken feathers. After the isolation and the phylogenetic and morphologic characterization of different colonies, we obtained a collection of Bacillus cytotoxicus isolates, a species with no previous report of keratinolytic activity and only reported in rehydrated meals connected with food poisoning outbreaks. Its natural habitat has been unknown up to now. We characterized the proteolytic and keratinolytic capacities of the B. cytotoxicus isolates in different conditions, which proved to be remarkably high compared with those of other similar species. Thus, our work represents the first report of the isolation as well as the keratinolytic capacity characterization of strains of B. cytotixicus obtained from a natural environment.In this paper, we propose a new approach to passively locate the 3D position of a signal source. This novel technique, called the power gain difference (PGD), is based only on measuring the received signal strength (RSS) with multiple sensors deployed in the area of interest, while the target transmit power or the equivalent isotropic radiated power (EIRP) is assumed to be unknown. Next, the signal source position is estimated using the knowledge of the ratios of RSS measured on different sensors. First, this article presents the geometric representation and the analytical solution of the model of the PGD technique. Second, the PGD dilution of precision was analyzed in order to gauge the accuracy of measuring the RSS. Finally, a numerical simulation of the performance of the proposed method was carried out and the results are discussed. This study was conducted to assess the impact of summer heat stress in Southeastern SA on short-term kidney injury (KI) among building construction workers and to identify relevant risk factors. Measurements of urinary albumin-creatinine ratio (ACR), height, weight, hydration, symptoms, daily work and behavioral factors were collected in June and September of 2016 from a cohort of construction workers (n = 65) in Al-Ahsa Province, SA. KI was defined as ACR ≥30 mg/g. Multivariate linear regression analysis was used to assess factors related to cross-summer changes in ACR. A significant increase in ACR occurred among most workers over the study period; incidence of KI was 18%. Risk factors associated with an increased ACR included dehydration, short sleep, and obesity. The findings suggest that exposure to summer heat may lead to the development of KI among construction workers in this region. Adequate hydration and promotion of healthy habits among workers may help reduce the risk of KI. The effect of enrichment, disturbances and public presence was less clear and strongly depended on the group, the type of enrichment and disturbance. Our results confirm that captive odontocetes' social behaviors are influenced by the context, and that, depending on the group, some of them, such as pectoral contacts, other body contacts, agonistic interactions or social play exhibit consistent patterns across contexts. Monitoring these behaviors might be useful to adapt the captive management to each species and group. The different responses among the three studied groups confirm that species and groups react differently to a stimulus and therefore, management decisions should be species/group specific. We recommend that more studies should be conducted to validate our findings in other groups of odontocetes under human care.Graphene and its derivatives, with their unique two-dimensional structures and excellent physical and chemical properties, have been an international research hotspot both in the research community and industry. The purpose of this work was to explore the proteolytic and keratinolytic enzymatic potential of microorganisms that inhabit in the Domuyo geothermal area in the Neuquén Province. To this end, we did enrichment cultures from two high-temperature natural samples in mineral media only supplemented with whole chicken feathers. After the isolation and the phylogenetic and morphologic characterization of different colonies, we obtained a collection of Bacillus cytotoxicus isolates, a species with no previous report of keratinolytic activity and only reported in rehydrated meals connected with food poisoning outbreaks. Its natural habitat has been unknown up to now. We characterized the proteolytic and keratinolytic capacities of the B. cytotoxicus isolates in different conditions, which proved to be remarkably high compared with those of other similar species. Next, the signal source position is estimated using the knowledge of the ratios of RSS measured on different sensors. First, this article presents the geometric representation and the analytical solution of the model of the PGD technique. Second, the PGD dilution of precision was analyzed in order to gauge the accuracy of measuring the RSS. Finally, a numerical simulation of the performance of the proposed method was carried out and the results are discussed. This study was conducted to assess the impact of summer heat stress in Southeastern SA on short-term kidney injury (KI) among building construction workers and to identify relevant risk factors. Measurements of urinary albumin-creatinine ratio (ACR), height, weight, hydration, symptoms, daily work and behavioral factors were collected in June and September of 2016 from a cohort of construction workers (n = 65) in Al-Ahsa Province, SA. KI was defined as ACR ≥30 mg/g. Multivariate linear regression analysis was used to assess factors related to cross-summer changes in ACR. A significant increase in ACR occurred among most workers over the study period; incidence of KI was 18%. Risk factors associated with an increased ACR included dehydration, short sleep, and obesity. The findings suggest that exposure to summer heat may lead to the development of KI among construction workers in this region. Adequate hydration and promotion of healthy habits among workers may help reduce the risk of KI. Understanding these fundamental roles of mitochondria-ER contact sites as important domains for tumor suppressors and oncogenes can support the search for new and more precise anticancer therapies. Transcriptome analysis in murine cardiomyocytes with targeted deletion of myocyte TFEB (TFEB-/-) revealed enrichment of differentially expressed genes (DEG) representing pathways of nutrient metabolism, DNA damage and repair, cell death and cardiac function. Strikingly, genes involved in macroautophagy, mitophagy and lysosome function constituted a small portion of DEGs in TFEB-/- cardiomyocytes. In myoblasts and/or myocytes, nutrient overload-induced lipid droplet accumulation and caspase-3 activation were exacerbated by silencing TFEB or attenuated by overexpressing constitutively active TFEB. The effect of TFEB overexpression were persistent in the presence of Atg7 loss-of-function, signifying that the effect of TFEB in the myocyte is independent of changes in the macroautophagy pathway. In the cardiomyocyte, the non-canonical effect of TFEB to reprogram energy metabolism is more evident than the canonical action of TFEB on lysosomal autophagy. Loss of TFEB function perturbs metabolic pathways in the cardiomyocyte and renders the heart prematurely susceptible to nutrient overload-induced injury.Objectives The main objective of the study was to assess the meningeal penetration of cefazolin and cloxacillin in patients treated for methicillin-susceptible staphylococcal meningitis. Methods We retrospectively identified patients treated for Staphylococcus meningitis with measurements of cefazolin or cloxacillin concentrations in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) using a liquid-chromatography coupled with mass-spectrometry validated assay at the Nantes University Hospital between January 2009 and October 2019. Staphylococcus meningitis was defined by a compatible clinical presentation and a microbiological confirmation (positive CSF culture or positive specific polymerase chain reaction). Medical charts were retrospectively reviewed to collect microbiological, clinical data and to assess therapeutic success. Results Among the 17 included patients, 8 (47%) were treated with cefazolin and 9 (53%) with cloxacillin. Median daily dosages of cefazolin and cloxacillin were 8 (range 6-12) and 12 (range 10-13) grams respectively. Cefazolin and cloxacillin were mainly administered via continuous infusion. Eleven patients (65%) were males, median (IQR) age was 54 years (50;70), 14 (82%) had post-operative meningitis and 3 (18%) hematogenous meningitis. Median (IQR) antibiotic CSF concentrations were 2.8 (2.1;5.2) and 0.66 (0.5;0.9) mg/L for cefazolin and cloxacillin groups respectively. Cloxacillin was discontinued in 2 patients for therapeutic failure. Conclusions Patients with staphylococcal meningitis treated with high-dose continuous intravenous infusion of cefazolin achieved therapeutic concentrations in CSF. Cefazolin appears to be a therapeutic candidate which should be properly evaluated in this indication.

Method A total of 314 studies were identified, following a literature search adhering to the preferred reporting items for systematic reviews and meta-analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. After full-text evaluation, 81 studies discussing MI-OCT applications in ophthalmology were included. Results At present, three microscope-integrated optical coherence tomography systems are commercially available. MI-OCT can help anterior and posterior segment surgeons in the decision-making process, providing direct visualization of anatomic planes before and after surgical manoeuvres, assisting in complex cases, and detecting or confirming intraoperative complications. Applications range from corneal transplant to macular surgery, including cataract surgery, glaucoma surgery, paediatric examination, proliferative diabetic retinopathy surgery, and retinal detachment surgery. Conclusion The use of MI-OCT in ophthalmic surgery is becoming increasingly prevalent and has been applied in almost all procedures. However, there are still limitations to be overcome and the technology involved remains difficult to access and use.The nephrotoxicity of aristolochic acids (AAs), p-cresyl sulfate (PCS) and indoxyl sulfate (IS) were well-documented, culminating in tubulointerstitial fibrosis (TIF), advanced chronic kidney disease (CKD) and fatal urothelial cancer. Nonetheless, information regarding the attenuation of AAs-induced nephropathy (AAN) and uremic toxin retention is scarce. Propolis is a versatile natural product, exerting anti-oxidant, anti-cancer and anti-fibrotic properties. We aimed to evaluate nephroprotective effects of propolis extract (PE) in a murine model. AAN was developed to retain circulating PCS and IS using C57BL/6 ****, mimicking human CKD. The kidney sizes/masses, renal function indicators, plasma concentrations of PCS/IS, tissue expressions of TIF, α-SMA, collagen IaI, collagen IV and signaling pathways in transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β) family were analyzed among the control, PE, AAN, and AAN-PE groups. PE ameliorated AAN-induced renal atrophy, renal function deterioration, TIF, plasma retention of PCS and IS. PE also suppressed α-SMA expression and deposition of collagen IaI and IV in the fibrotic epithelial-mesenchymal transition. Notably, PE treatment in AAN model inhibited not only SMAD 2/3-dependent pathways but also SMAD-independent JNK/ERK activation in the signaling cascades of TGF-β family. Through disrupting fibrotic epithelial-mesenchymal transition and TGF-β signaling transduction pathways, PE improves TIF and thereby facilitates renal excretion of PCS and IS in AAN. Since 1990, the use of bioreporters has been investigated for assessment of the bioavailability of pollutants; however, real contaminated soils have rarely been used in these studies. In this work, a bioassay with whole-cell bacterial bioreporter Escherichia coli ARL1 was used for estimation of bioavailable concentration of mercury in 11 soil samples. The bioreporter emits bioluminescence in the presence of Hg(II). Four different pretreatments of soil samples prior to the bioassay were tested. Among them, laccase mediated extraction was found to be the most suitable over water extraction, alkaline extraction, and direct use of water-soil suspensions. Nevertheless, effect of the matrix on bioreporter signal was found to be severe and not possible to be completely eliminated by the method of standard addition. In order to elucidate the matrix role, influences of humic acid and selected metal ions present in soil on the bioreporter signal were tested separately in laboratory solutions. Humic acids were found to have a positive effect on the bioreporter growth, but a negative effect on the measured bioluminescence, likely due to shading and Hg binding resulting in decreased bioavailability. Each of the tested metal ions solutions affected the bioluminescence signal differently; cobalt (II) positively, iron (III) negatively, and the effects of iron (II) and nickel (II) were dependent on their concentrations. The kidney sizes/masses, renal function indicators, plasma concentrations of PCS/IS, tissue expressions of TIF, α-SMA, collagen IaI, collagen IV and signaling pathways in transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β) family were analyzed among the control, PE, AAN, and AAN-PE groups. PE ameliorated AAN-induced renal atrophy, renal function deterioration, TIF, plasma retention of PCS and IS. PE also suppressed α-SMA expression and deposition of collagen IaI and IV in the fibrotic epithelial-mesenchymal transition. Notably, PE treatment in AAN model inhibited not only SMAD 2/3-dependent pathways but also SMAD-independent JNK/ERK activation in the signaling cascades of TGF-β family. Through disrupting fibrotic epithelial-mesenchymal transition and TGF-β signaling transduction pathways, PE improves TIF and thereby facilitates renal excretion of PCS and IS in AAN. The bioreporter emits bioluminescence in the presence of Hg(II). Four different pretreatments of soil samples prior to the bioassay were tested. Among them, laccase mediated extraction was found to be the most suitable over water extraction, alkaline extraction, and direct use of water-soil suspensions. Nevertheless, effect of the matrix on bioreporter signal was found to be severe and not possible to be completely eliminated by the method of standard addition. In order to elucidate the matrix role, influences of humic acid and selected metal ions present in soil on the bioreporter signal were tested separately in laboratory solutions. Humic acids were found to have a positive effect on the bioreporter growth, but a negative effect on the measured bioluminescence, likely due to shading and Hg binding resulting in decreased bioavailability. The current study was conducted to determine the prevalence of smoking and to assess the effects of smoking on treatment outcomes among TB patients. Methods A multi-center retrospective study design was used to collect data from TB patients in four different states of Malaysia, namely Penang, Sabah, Sarawak, and Selangor. The study included medical records of TB patients admitted to the selected hospitals in the period from January 2006 to March 2009. Medical records with incomplete data were not included. Patient demographics and clinical data were collected using a validated data collection form. Results Of all patients with TB (9337), the prevalence of smokers was 4313 (46.2%). Among smokers, 3584 (83.1%) were associated with pulmonary TB, while 729 (16.9%) were associated with extrapulmonary TB. Male gender (OR = 1.43, 95% CI 1.30-1.58), Chinese ethnicity (OR = 1.23, 95% CI 1.02-1.49), Sarawak indigenous ethnicity (OR = 0.74, 95% CI 0.58-0.95), urban residents (OR = 1.46, 95% CI 1.33-1.61), employed individuals (OR = 1.21, 95% CI 1.09-1.34), alcoholics (OR = 4.91, 95% CI 4.04-5.96), drug abusers (OR = 7.43, 95% CI 5.70-9.60) and presence of co-morbid condition (OR = 1.27, 95% CI 1.16-1.40) all showed significant association with smoking habits. Case presentation Herein we report a case of a 44-year-old man who was admitted to our hospital due to 20 years of repeated episodes of heart palpitations, 2 years of shortness of breath after activity, and the symptoms were aggravated for 1 month. He had history of inferior myocardial infarction and atrial fibrillation. Color Doppler echocardiography revealed rheumatic heart disease, severe mitral regurgitation, mild-moderate tricuspid regurgitation, moderate pulmonary hypertension. Coronary angiography revealed 60-85% diffuse stenosis in the middle of left anterior descending artery, 60-90% diffuse stenosis in the middle of left circumflex artery, 30-40% diffuse stenosis in the proximal segment of right coronary artery, and WCA anomaly in the middle, and distal segments of right coronary artery. Conclusion The patient successfully underwent prosthetic valve replacement and left anterior descending coronary artery bypass grafting, and had a good recovery after surgery. Thus, the aim of the current study was to elucidate health-related quality of life (HRQoL) and outcome predictors in chronic TBI adults. Methods In this cross-sectional study, 439 former patients were invited to report HRQoL up to 10 years after mild, moderate or severe TBI using the QOLIBRI (Quality of Life after Brain Injury) questionnaire. The QOLIBRI total score has a maximum score of 100. A score below 60 indicates an unfavorable outcome with an increased risk of an affective and/or anxiety disorder. Results were correlated with demographics and basic characteristics received from medical records (TBI severity, etiology, age at TBI, age at survey, time elapsed since TBI, and sex) using regression models. Differences were considered significant at p less then 0.05. Resultspsychiatric sequelae. Methods Our retrospective study involved 282 infants under the age of 120 days with jaundice who were admitted into Beijing Children's Hospital between January 2016 to December 2018. The GGT and LSM levels of infants were obtained. A parallel test was used, and ROC curve was created to obtain cutoff values of GGT and LSM for BA infants at different ages. Results Of the 282 infants, 135 were diagnosed with BA and 147 were non-BA infants. In all age groups (A ≤60 days; B 61-90 days; C 91-120 days), the LSM and GGT levels of the BA group were significantly higher than that of the non-BA group, P less then 0.05. The cutoff value of GGT and LSM to diagnosis BA was 191.2 U/L, 213.2 U/L, 281.5 U/L and 7.5 kPa, 10.0 kPa, 11.0 kPa in groups A, B and C, respectively. The parallel test was used to determine a sensitivity of 97.3, 98.1 and 100% in group A, B and C when either GGT or LSM levels were met in BA infants. The sensitivities of parallel testing for group A and B were higher than LSM or GGT used alone. Conclusions Cutoff values of GGT and LSM to screen BA increased with age. Parallel testing of GGT and LSM in infants who are younger than 90 days old can decrease the rate of BA misdiagnosis.

The QOLIBRI total score has a maximum score of 100. A score below 60 indicates an unfavorable outcome with an increased risk of an affective and/or anxiety disorder. Thus, an early neuropsychiatric assessment after TBI is necessary and need to be installed in future TBI guidelines.Background This study aims to explore the diagnostic accuracy of the combination of gamma-glutamyl transferase (GGT) and liver stiffness measurement (LSM) for biliary atresia (BA) screening at different ages. Methods Our retrospective study involved 282 infants under the age of 120 days with jaundice who were admitted into Beijing Children's Hospital between January 2016 to December 2018. The GGT and LSM levels of infants were obtained. A parallel test was used, and ROC curve was created to obtain cutoff values of GGT and LSM for BA infants at different ages. Results Of the 282 infants, 135 were diagnosed with BA and 147 were non-BA infants. In all age groups (A ≤60 days; B 61-90 days; C 91-120 days), the LSM and GGT levels of the BA group were significantly higher than that of the non-BA group, P less then 0.05. The cutoff value of GGT and LSM to diagnosis BA was 191.2 U/L, 213.2 U/L, 281.5 U/L and 7.5 kPa, 10.0 kPa, 11.0 kPa in groups A, B and C, respectively. The parallel test was used to determine a sensitivity of 97.3, 98.1 and 100% in group A, B and C when either GGT or LSM levels were met in BA infants. The sensitivities of parallel testing for group A and B were higher than LSM or GGT used alone. Conclusions Cutoff values of GGT and LSM to screen BA increased with age.
