Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is one of the deadliest diseases affecting humans. Its incidence has been increasing over the last decade. It is characterized by poor prognosis as well as lack of therapeutic regimens for patients in the advanced stages. It is therefore important to develop effective biomarkers for diagnosis, prognosis, and immunotherapy of HCC. Research suggests that the NF-
B family plays vital roles in immune response, inflammation, tumorigenesis, and the progress of malignancy in various cancers. However, its role in HCC remains unidentified.

The retrospective cohort of 38 abdominopelvic injury cases was admitted to the intensive care unit at Thammasat University Hospital, from January 1
to December 31
, 2018. The bladder pressure was recorded every 4 hours until the urethral catheter was removed. Data of age, gender, weight, height, body mass index, injury mechanisms, initial vital signs, imaging, laboratory data, blood component requirements, abdominal organs involved, treatments including surgery and intervention radiology, abbreviated injury scale (AIS) and injury severity score (ISS), length of ICU stays, and results of treatment were all analyzed.
The patients were mostly young (mean age 31.5 years), male (68.4%), and suffering from blunt trauma (89.5%). The mean maximum bladder pressure was 8.3 ± 5.2 mmHg. Six patients (15.8%) developed IAH, and one patient (2.6%) was diagnosed with 1
ACS. Two patients expired. The multivariate analysis showed the patient who had initial Cr ≥ 1.5 g/dL, lower extremity including pelvis AIS ≥3, and ISS >15 was significantly associated with the developing of IAH.

Survey-based studies typically rely on the ORTO-15 questionnaire or its variations to detect orthorexia. However, frequent post-hoc adjustments to the ORTO-15 suggest psychometric problems. In this study, we explored people's cognitions about the ORTO-15 items to (1) identify problems specific to ORTO-15 items and (2) explore participants' understanding of ON symptoms. Methods Fifty adult participants (40% male, mean age = 34.0 ± 14.4 years) completed the ORTO-15, the Eating Attitudes Test (EAT-26) and the Obsessive-Compulsive Inventory-Revised edition (OCI-R). Qualitative data were collected using the modified "think aloud" protocol, which asked participants to 'verbalise' their responses to the ORTO-15 items. These qualitative responses were first analysed conjunctively with the quantitative responses; then subjected to thematic analysis. This paper presents a longitudinal study of the foraging network of two mature colonies of the grass-cutting ant Atta capiguara (Gonçalves) located in a pasture in central Brazil. Specifically, we investigated whether the extension of the foraging area of the colonies required to reach new resources occurs by building new and longer underground tunnels or by building new and longer physical trails. Each nest was surveyed at intervals of approximately 15 days during 1 year. At each survey we mapped the position of the tunnel entrances and foraging trails at which activity was observed. In addition, we assessed the excavation effort of the colonies since the last survey by the number and distance to the nest of new tunnel entrances, and the physical trail construction effort by the number and length of newly built physical trails. Our study reveals that in A. capiguara the collection of new resources around the nest required to ensure the continuous growth of the colonies is achieved mainly through the excavation of new underground tunnels, opening at greater distance from the nest, not through the building of longer aboveground physical trails.The sugarcane hairy borer, Hyponeuma taltula (Schaus, 1904), attacks the base of sugarcane and causes the death of the apical bud, a symptom known as "dead heart." In recent years, there has been significant infestation in Brazilian sugarcane crops. With the purpose of finding methods for controlling and/or monitoring the pest for the sustainable cultivation of sugarcane, we characterized the mating behavior of H. taltula and confirmed the release of a sex pheromone by this insect. Sexual activity was observed between the second and ninth hour of scotophase, during which female calling caused the onset of male courtship behaviors and increased their frequency. An ethogram was built showing that males perform seven observable steps (1) wing flapping, (2) walking with wing flapping, (3) flying, (4) flying towards the female, (5) landing near the female and walking around her, (6) attempting copulation, and (7) copulation (mating). Female sex gland extracts also triggered attraction and male courtship behaviors.

To investigate the associations of multiple single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) with the severities and endophenotypes of myopia in children.
A total of 3300 children aged 5-10years were recruited 137 moderate and high myopia (SE≤-3.0D), 670 mild myopia (-3.0D<SE≤-0.5D) and 2493 controls (SE>-0.5D). 13 SNPs in 13 genes/loci were selected for genotyping in all subjects using TaqMan assays. Associations between each SNP with myopia severities and ocular traits (spherical equivalent (SE), axial length (AL) and corneal radius (CR)) were analysed.
When compared with controls, SNPs
rs4373767 (OR=1.15, p=0.038),
rs7084402 (OR=1.18, p=0.005) and
rs524952 (OR=1.14, p=0.025) showed nominal associations with overall myopia.

Sudden cardiac death (SCD) related to ventricular arrhythmias is the most disastrous consequence of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM). Hence, clinicians seek to identify the highest risk patients that have the greatest potential to benefit from an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) for primary prevention; nonetheless, this is where controversies begin as the 2011 American College of Cardiology Foundation/American Heart Association and the 2014 European Society of Cardiology guidelines have significant discrepancies. These guidelines propose clinically and statistically oriented algorithms, respectively, for SCD risk stratification of patients with HCM and recommendation to implantation of primary prevention ICD. The differences between these guidelines have resulted in confusion among care practitioners and patients alike. We aimed to define the role of extended pulmonary vein isolation (PVI), posterior wall isolation, and mitral isthmus lines to eliminate electrograms exhibiting fractionation pattern during stepwise ablation on acute atrial fibrillation (AF) termination rate in patients with long-standing persistent AF (LSPAF).
Twelve patients with LSPAF underwent ablation during AF. Using the fractionation mapping tool of the Ensite™ (Abbott Medical, Chicago, USA) system, sites exhibiting discrete atrial complexes and consistent activation sequence were mapped. The potential of L. plantarum CCFM639 to reverse changes in human intestine microbiota induced by low-dose dietary Al exposure was investigated using an in vitro colonic fermentation model. Batch fermenters were inoculated with fresh stool samples from healthy adult donors and supplemented with 86 mg/L Al and/or 109 CFU of L. plantarum CCFM639. Al exposure significantly increased the relative abundances of Bacteroidetes (Prevotella), Proteobacteria (Escherichia), Actinobacteria (Collinsella), Euryarchaeota (Methanobrevibacter), and Verrucomicrobiaceae and decreased Firmicutes (Streptococcus, Roseburia, Ruminococcus, Dialister, Coprobacillus). The Chilean hazelnut (Gevuina avellana Mol., Proteaceae) is a southern South American nut consumed as a snack and included in different preparations of traditional Chilean cuisine. Recently we described the fatty acid profile, oxylipins, phenolic compounds, as well as the antioxidant capacity. The main compounds of the phenolic-enriched extract were only tentatively identified by spectrometric means. In the present work, we describe the isolation and full characterization of a cyclic dipeptide cyclo(Arg-Trp) and other compounds from the phenolic enriched extracts of the G. avellana cotyledons. Compounds were isolated by means of counter-current chromatography and structures were established by spectroscopic and spectrometric methods. This is the first report on small peptides in G. avellana and adds evidence on the possible beneficial effects of this nut in human health.A significant proportion of hypertension (potentially more than 5% in the general population) is due to primary aldosteronism (PA) which carries a worse prognosis when compared with blood pressure-matched essential hypertension. Effective targeted treatments are available which mitigate many of the cardiovascular complications of untreated PA. Despite this, the detection rate of PA in primary care is sub-optimal. In this review, we explore the challenges contributing to the under-diagnosis of PA in the community, including uncertainties regarding its actual prevalence. In order to detect PA early and offer targeted treatment before adverse cardiovascular consequences develop, routine screening for PA at the time of a diagnosis of hypertension would seem desirable. However, this is limited by a lack of studies to establish whether routine screening in primary care is cost-effective. Newer techniques are also being developed which could lessen the complexity of diagnosing PA. Patients were divided into three groups based on the number of complications (0-1, 2-3, and >3). Cost was estimated from charges recorded in the Pediatric Health Information System database and hospital accounting records. Patients with >3 complications had higher healthcare utilization and cost, primarily driven by inpatient hospitalization and intensive care unit admissions. Multivariable analysis of risk factors identified bacteremia ($90,166, SE = 26,636, p less then 0.001), lung injury ($108,529, SE = 28,196, p less then 0.001), liver injury ($90,805, SE = 28,660, p = 0.002), and grade II-IV aGVHD ($137,866, SE = 28,472, p less then 0.001) as associated with significantly increased cost. Our study highlights the significant impact complications have on the overall cost of alloHCT. The Chilean hazelnut (Gevuina avellana Mol., Proteaceae) is a southern South American nut consumed as a snack and included in different preparations of traditional Chilean cuisine. Recently we described the fatty acid profile, oxylipins, phenolic compounds, as well as the antioxidant capacity. The main compounds of the phenolic-enriched extract were only tentatively identified by spectrometric means. In the present work, we describe the isolation and full characterization of a cyclic dipeptide cyclo(Arg-Trp) and other compounds from the phenolic enriched extracts of the G. avellana cotyledons. Compounds were isolated by means of counter-current chromatography and structures were established by spectroscopic and spectrometric methods. This is the first report on small peptides in G. avellana and adds evidence on the possible beneficial effects of this nut in human health.A significant proportion of hypertension (potentially more than 5% in the general population) is due to primary aldosteronism (PA) which carries a worse prognosis when compared with blood pressure-matched essential hypertension. Effective targeted treatments are available which mitigate many of the cardiovascular complications of untreated PA. Despite this, the detection rate of PA in primary care is sub-optimal. In this review, we explore the challenges contributing to the under-diagnosis of PA in the community, including uncertainties regarding its actual prevalence. In order to detect PA early and offer targeted treatment before adverse cardiovascular consequences develop, routine screening for PA at the time of a diagnosis of hypertension would seem desirable. However, this is limited by a lack of studies to establish whether routine screening in primary care is cost-effective. Newer techniques are also being developed which could lessen the complexity of diagnosing PA. Most importantly, a dramatic increase in awareness of PA, as a treatable cause of hypertension, is needed amongst clinicians who manage hypertension.Complications following allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation (alloHCT) continue to be a significant challenge that often result in significant morbidity/mortality and increased healthcare utilization and cost. However, radiation dose estimations for nonhuman primates from molecular imaging probes are lacking and are difficult to perform experimentally. The aim of this work is to construct age-dependent NHP computational model series to estimate the absorbed dose to NHP specimens in common molecular imaging procedures. Materials and methods A series of NHP models from baby to adult were constructed based on non-uniform rational B-spline surface (NURBS) representations. Particle transport was simulated using Monte Carlo calculations to estimate S-values from nine positron-emitting radionuclides and absorbed doses from PET radiotracers. Results Realistic age-dependent NHP computational model series were developed. For most source-target pairs in computational NHP models, differences between C-11 S-values were between -13.4% and -8.8%/Kg difference in body weight while differences between F-18 S-values were between -12.9% and -8.0%/Kg difference in body weight. The absorbed doses of 11 C-labelled brain receptor substances, 18 F-labelled brain receptor substances and 18 F-FDG in the brain ranged within 0.047 - 0.32 mGy/MBq, 0.25 - 1.63 mGy/MBq and 0.32 - 2.12 mGy/MBq, respectively. Conclusion The absorbed doses to organs are significantly higher in the baby NHP model than in the adult model. We calculated a healthy lifestyle index (HLI) based on women's self-reported smoking status, height, weight, physical activity, diet and alcohol consumption before diagnosis (n = 678) and after completing primary treatment (n = 512). Clinical data and vital status for each woman were ascertained through medical records. Cox proportional hazards regression was conducted to calculate hazard ratios (HR) and 95% confidence interval (CI) for all-cause mortality. There was a suggestive association between a more healthy lifestyle before diagnosis and better survival (HR 0.79, 95% CI 0.59-1.04), however, the association was stronger for lifestyle after diagnosis, with women in the highest tertile having significantly better survival than women in the lowest tertile (HR 0.61, 95% CI 0.40-0.93; P-trend = .02). Current smoking, particularly postdiagnosis, was associated with higher mortality (HR 1.68, 95% CI 1.17-2.42; HR 2.82, 95% CI 1.29-6.14, for prediagnosis and postdiagnosis smoking, respectively), but women who quit after diagnosis had survival outcomes similar to nonsmokers (HR 0.99, 95% CI 0.57-1.72). Herbicides are widely applied in agriculture, which causes emerging concern for contaminating surface water and groundwater. The degradation of isoproturon, being a typical phenylurea herbicide, has been studied **** with advanced oxidation processes. However, little information on the detailed degradation mechanism from the theoretical level is available. In the present work, the degradation mechanisms of OH-initiated reactions of isoproturon were studied at the MPWB1K/6-311+G(3df, 2p)//MPWB1K/6-31+G(d, p) level. The calculation results display that H-atom abstraction, ·OH addition, and ·OH substitution pathways are found for ·OH and isoproturon reactions. For H-atom abstractions, the results show that aliphatic H atoms are more easily abstracted by ·OH than the aromatic H atoms, and the pathway R6 has the lowest energy barrier of 6.65 kcal mol-1, indicating that H in the -CH3 group attached to the N2 atom could be most favorably abstracted. Six pathways for ·OH addition to the six sites of the phenyl ring are identified with low energy barriers, which are in good accordance with the fact that the additions of ·OH to the phenyl ring were the important steps from experimental results. The occurrence of bacterial infections and further antimicrobial treatment lead to the major crisis of antibiotic resistance in aquaculture. We have isolated diverse enterobacteriaceae groups which affect the goldfish and identified their response towards 46 antimicrobials of 15 different classes. Thirteen significant bacterial isolates such as Edwardsiella tarda, Serratia marcescens, Klebsiella aerogenes, Proteus penneri, P. hauseri, Enterobacter cloacae, E. cancerogenus, E. ludwigii, Citrobacter freundii, E. coli, Kluyvera cryocrescens, Plesiomonas shigelloides and Providencia vermicola were recovered from the infected fish with the Shannon-wiener diversity index of 2.556. Multiple antibiotic resistance (MAR) index was found to be maximum for P. penneri (0.87) and minimum for C. freundii and E. cloacae (0.22), highlighting the hyper antibiotic selection pressure in the farm. The minimum concentration of antibiotics required to inhibit most of the resistant isolates was found to be > 256 mcg/ml. All the isolates were susceptible towards ciprofloxacin. Plasmid curing and further AMR tests could reveal the location of antibiotic resistance genes mainly as plasmids which determine the large extent of AMR spread through horizontal gene transfer. Herbicides are widely applied in agriculture, which causes emerging concern for contaminating surface water and groundwater. The degradation of isoproturon, being a typical phenylurea herbicide, has been studied much with advanced oxidation processes. However, little information on the detailed degradation mechanism from the theoretical level is available. In the present work, the degradation mechanisms of OH-initiated reactions of isoproturon were studied at the MPWB1K/6-311+G(3df, 2p)//MPWB1K/6-31+G(d, p) level. The calculation results display that H-atom abstraction, ·OH addition, and ·OH substitution pathways are found for ·OH and isoproturon reactions. For H-atom abstractions, the results show that aliphatic H atoms are more easily abstracted by ·OH than the aromatic H atoms, and the pathway R6 has the lowest energy barrier of 6.65 kcal mol-1, indicating that H in the -CH3 group attached to the N2 atom could be most favorably abstracted. Six pathways for ·OH addition to the six sites of the phenyl ring are identified with low energy barriers, which are in good accordance with the fact that the additions of ·OH to the phenyl ring were the important steps from experimental results. For ·OH substitution reactions, two pathways with high activation energies are found, and the corresponding products have been also detected from previous experimental studies, suggesting that the substitution reactions could also occur.In recent years, with the aging of the population and the frequent use of electronic devices, many eye diseases have shown a linear upward trend, such as dry eye disease, glaucoma, cataract, age-related macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy. The occurrence of bacterial infections and further antimicrobial treatment lead to the major crisis of antibiotic resistance in aquaculture. We have isolated diverse enterobacteriaceae groups which affect the goldfish and identified their response towards 46 antimicrobials of 15 different classes. Thirteen significant bacterial isolates such as Edwardsiella tarda, Serratia marcescens, Klebsiella aerogenes, Proteus penneri, P. hauseri, Enterobacter cloacae, E. cancerogenus, E. ludwigii, Citrobacter freundii, E. coli, Kluyvera cryocrescens, Plesiomonas shigelloides and Providencia vermicola were recovered from the infected fish with the Shannon-wiener diversity index of 2.556. Multiple antibiotic resistance (MAR) index was found to be maximum for P. penneri (0.87) and minimum for C. freundii and E. cloacae (0.22), highlighting the hyper antibiotic selection pressure in the farm. The minimum concentration of antibiotics required to inhibit most of the resistant isolates was found to be > 256 mcg/ml. All the isolates were susceptible towards ciprofloxacin. Plasmid curing and further AMR tests could reveal the location of antibiotic resistance genes mainly as plasmids which determine the large extent of AMR spread through horizontal gene transfer. In this context, in the present study, a Leishmania amastigote-specific hypothetical protein, called LiHyJ, was evaluated as a recombinant protein plus saponin as an adjuvant or DNA vaccine to protect against VL. The vaccine effect was evaluated by means of the evaluation of immunological and parasitological analyses performed in BALB/c **** against Leishmania infantum infection. Results showed that rLiHyJ/saponin and DNA LiHyJ induced significantly higher levels of anti-protein and anti-parasite IFN-γ, IL-12, GM-CSF, and IgG2a isotype antibodies, which were associated with a low presence of IL-4 and IL-10. DNA vaccination induced higher IFN-γ production, mainly by CD8+ T cells, while rLiHyJ/saponin stimulated the production of this cytokine, mainly by CD4+ T cells. The parasite load evaluated in distinct organs showed that both immunization schedules significantly reduced organic parasitism, when compared to the controls. Similar results were found in the immunological and parasitological assays when using the recombinant protein or DNA, although the vaccination with rLiHyJ plus saponin induced a slightly higher Th1 response and lower parasite load, when compared to the use of DNA plasmid. The protein also proved to be immunogenic when peripheral blood mononuclear cells of treated VL patients and healthy subjects were in vitro stimulated, since higher IFN-γ and lower IL-4 and IL-10 levels were found in the culture supernatants. In conclusion, LiHyJ should be considered in future studies as a vaccine candidate to protect against VL.
A comprehensive understanding of host factors modulated by the antiviral cytokine interferon-α (IFNα) is imperative for harnessing its beneficial effects while avoiding its detrimental side-effects during HIV infection. Methylenedihydrofuran compounds 9a and 9h were found to be the most cytotoxic among currently known colchicinoids, exhibiting outstanding antiproliferative activity on tumor cell lines in picomolar (0.01-2.1 nM) range of concentrations. Compound 9a potently and substoichiometrically inhibits microtubule formation in vitro, being an order of magnitude more active in this assay than colchicine. Derivatives 9a and 9h revealed relatively low acute toxicity in **** (LD50 ≥ 10 mg/kg i.v.). The clinical picture of SARS-CoV-2 infection (COVID-19) is characterized in its more severe form, by an acute respiratory failure which can worsen to pneumonia and acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) and get complicated with thrombotic events and heart dysfunction. Therefore, admission to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is common. Ultrasound, which has become an everyday tool in the ICU, can be very useful during COVID-19 pandemic, since it provides the clinician with information which can be interpreted and integrated within a global assessment during the physical examination. A description of some of the potential applications of ultrasound is depicted in this document, in order to supply the physicians taking care of these patients with an adapted guide to the intensive care setting. Some of its applications since ICU admission include verification of the correct position of the endotracheal tube, contribution to safe cannulation of lines, and identification of complications and thrombotic events. Furthermore, pleural and lung ultrasound can be an alternative diagnostic test to assess the degree of involvement of the lung parenchyma by means of the evaluation of specific ultrasound patterns, identification of pleural effusions and barotrauma. Echocardiography provides information of heart involvement, detects cor pulmonale and shock states.Background Patients with familial hypercholesterolemia (FH) are prone to develop acute myocardial infarction (AMI) at a younger age. Objectives The aim of the present study was to assess 5-year outcomes after AMI according to the presence of FH in a large multicenter cohort of patients. Methods The French registry of Acute ST-elevation and non-ST-elevation Myocardial Infarction consists of nationwide surveys recruiting patients over a 1- to 2-month period every 5 years. Patients recruited in 2005 and 2010 were followed up to 5 years. Results Of 5147 patients discharged alive and in whom FH status could be assessed, 2.8% had probable/definite FH, using an adapted Dutch Lipid Clinic score. They were 12 years younger, on average, than non-FH patients. Before adjustment, their 5-year survival and event-free survival did not differ from non-FH patients. After adjustment, however, both mortality (hazard ratio [HR] 1.82, 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.15-2.89; P = .011) and the combined endpoint of death, AMI, or stroke (HR 2.22, 95% CI 1.51-3.26; P less then .001) were higher in FH patients. The higher risk in FH patients was also present in patients receiving high-intensity lipid-lowering therapy at discharge adjusted HR for mortality 2.29, 95% CI 1.18 to 4.47, P = .015; HR for cardiovascular events 2.57, 95% CI 1.48 to 4.48, P = .001. Concordant results were observed in propensity score-marched cohorts. Conclusions The risk of long-term mortality and cardiovascular events is twice as high in FH than in non-FH patients, when adjusted on baseline characteristics, even for those receiving high-intensity lipid-lowering therapy. Setting This study was conducted in Australia. Method Eight key Australian pharmacy organisations were identified. Data were extracted from their websites or through direct contact with the organisation for the gender breakdown of their boards/committees/councils from the years 1998-2018. Results In total, data were obtained for 368 separate professional committees, from seven organisations (including 22 state/territory branches), covering the years of 1998-2018. Some organisations provided information for each of the 21 years, while others were only able to provide a few data points. Overall, gender balance in pharmacy organisations has increased over the 21-year period however, there remains a lack of women in leadership positions, particularly in the most senior positions where women held only 24% of president/chair positions over the time period. In 2018 women held 34% of these positions, despite representing 62% of pharmacists in Australia. Conclusion Gender inequity in leadership is prevalent in the Australian pharmacy profession, although it has lessened over time. Based on the trend from 1998 to 2018 it is predicted that women will achieve an average of 50% representation in Australian pharmacy professional committees no sooner than 2029.Background Limited research has focused on longitudinal interrelations between perceived social support, perceived stress, and depressive symptoms beyond the first postpartum months. This article tested an alternative primary hypothesis within the stress process model examining whether perceived stress mediated the association between perceived social support and depressive symptoms from 1 to 24 months postpartum. Secondary purposes examined whether these factors 1) changed from 1 to 24 months postpartum and 2) predicted depressive symptoms. Methods Women (N = 1,316) in a longitudinal cohort study completed validated measures of perceived social support, perceived stress, and depressive symptoms at 1, 6, 12, 18, and 24 months postpartum via telephone interviews. Analyses examined changes in psychosocial factors (repeated measures analysis of variance) and the extent to which perceived social support and perceived stress predicted depressive symptoms and supported mediation (linear regression). Results Perceived social support decreased, perceived stress increased, and depressive symptoms remained constant from 1 to 18 months, then increased at 24 months.

They were 12 years younger, on average, than non-FH patients. Before adjustment, their 5-year survival and event-free survival did not differ from non-FH patients. After adjustment, however, both mortality (hazard ratio [HR] 1.82, 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.15-2.89; P = .011) and the combined endpoint of death, AMI, or stroke (HR 2.22, 95% CI 1.51-3.26; P less then .001) were higher in FH patients. The higher risk in FH patients was also present in patients receiving high-intensity lipid-lowering therapy at discharge adjusted HR for mortality 2.29, 95% CI 1.18 to 4.47, P = .015; HR for cardiovascular events 2.57, 95% CI 1.48 to 4.48, P = .001. Concordant results were observed in propensity score-marched cohorts. Conclusions The risk of long-term mortality and cardiovascular events is twice as high in FH than in non-FH patients, when adjusted on baseline characteristics, even for those receiving high-intensity lipid-lowering therapy. Culturally acceptable ways are suggested to mitigate the atherogenic aspects of Hispanic and South Asian diets and to reinforce their heart healthy aspects. Setting This study was conducted in Australia. Method Eight key Australian pharmacy organisations were identified. Data were extracted from their websites or through direct contact with the organisation for the gender breakdown of their boards/committees/councils from the years 1998-2018. Results In total, data were obtained for 368 separate professional committees, from seven organisations (including 22 state/territory branches), covering the years of 1998-2018. Some organisations provided information for each of the 21 years, while others were only able to provide a few data points. Overall, gender balance in pharmacy organisations has increased over the 21-year period however, there remains a lack of women in leadership positions, particularly in the most senior positions where women held only 24% of president/chair positions over the time period. In 2018 women held 34% of these positions, despite representing 62% of pharmacists in Australia. Conclusion Gender inequity in leadership is prevalent in the Australian pharmacy profession, although it has lessened over time. Based on the trend from 1998 to 2018 it is predicted that women will achieve an average of 50% representation in Australian pharmacy professional committees no sooner than 2029.Background Limited research has focused on longitudinal interrelations between perceived social support, perceived stress, and depressive symptoms beyond the first postpartum months. This article tested an alternative primary hypothesis within the stress process model examining whether perceived stress mediated the association between perceived social support and depressive symptoms from 1 to 24 months postpartum. Secondary purposes examined whether these factors 1) changed from 1 to 24 months postpartum and 2) predicted depressive symptoms. Methods Women (N = 1,316) in a longitudinal cohort study completed validated measures of perceived social support, perceived stress, and depressive symptoms at 1, 6, 12, 18, and 24 months postpartum via telephone interviews. Analyses examined changes in psychosocial factors (repeated measures analysis of variance) and the extent to which perceived social support and perceived stress predicted depressive symptoms and supported mediation (linear regression).
