The COVID-19 epidemic grows and there are clinical trials of antivirals. There is an opportunity to complement these trials with investigation of angiotensin II type 1 receptor blockers (ARBs) because an ARB (losartan) was effective in murine influenza pneumonia.
Our innovative design includes ARBs; alignment with the WHO Ordinal Scale (primary endpoint) to align with other COVID-19 trials; joint longitudinal analysis; and predictive biomarkers (angiotensins I, 1-7, II and ACE1 and ACE2). Our hypothesis is ARBs decrease the need for hospitalisation, severity (need for ventilation, vasopressors, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation or renal replacement therapy) or mortality of hospitalised COVID-19 infected adults. Our two-pronged multicentre pragmatic observational cohort study examines safety and effectiveness of ARBs in (1) hospitalised adult patients with COVID-19 and (2) out-patients already on or not on ARBs. This study carried out a scoping review of research on intimate partner violence to determine the extent to which studies on sociocultural factors influencing intimate partner violence among young women (15-24 years) have been conducted, and how different geographical areas are represented. It also considered whether the methodologies used were sufficient to describe the risk factors, prevalence and health outcomes associated with intimate partner violence among young women.
Scoping review.
Online databases were used to identify studies published between 2008 and 2019. The Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis guidelines by Arksey and O'Malley were used to select studies, and primary studies were assessed using the Mixed Method Appraisal Tool, V.2011. Thematic content analysis was used to summarise the findings of the scoping review.
The majority of publications eight (61.5%) reported cross-sectional studies, while four (31.5%) were qualitative studies. One of the studies (7%) collected measured data. Overall, 13 (100%) of the publications examined factors influencing intimate partner violence.Using a customised quality assessment instrument, 12 (92.3%) of studies achieved a 'high'-quality ranking with a score of 100%, and 7.7% of studies achieved an 'average' quality ranking with a score of 75%.
While the quality of the studies is generally high, researches on sociocultural factors influencing intimate partner violence among young women would benefit from a careful selection of methods and reference standards, including direct measures of the violence affecting young women. Prospective cohort studies are required linking early exposure with individual, sociocultural and community factors, and detailing the abuse experienced from childhood, adolescence and youth.

To test responses of formerly deployed soldiers (FDS) to a questionnaire on deployment experiences in combination with screening levels of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and depression approximately 6 months after homecoming as predictors of the subsequent probability of gaining employment when unemployed within 5 years post-deployment.
Danish FDS responders (n=3935) and non-responders (n=3046) to a 6-month post-deployment screening questionnaire after returning from a first-ever deployment to Kosovo, Iraq or Afghanistan (2002 to 2012) were included in the study and followed in public registers from 6 months to 5 years post-deployment.
We tested Cox regression models including deployment experiences (1a), screening levels of PTSD and depressive symptoms (1b), and their combination (2) for FDS responders. For all FDS, a secondary model included a measure on whether they responded to the questionnaire (3).
Neither the deployment experiences (1a) of exposure to danger and combat (HR=1.00, 95% CI=0t predict differences in the probability of gaining employment when unemployed within 5 years post-deployment. However, the findings suggest that those with the least probability of transitioning from unemployment to employment can be found among the non-responders to the post-deployment screening questionnaire.

This study included 18 years and older ED patients who consulted for acute (≤2 weeks) pain conditions that were discharged with an opioid prescription. Patients completed a 14-day diary in which they listed their daily pain intensity (0-10 numeric rating scale).
Three months after ED visit, participants were questioned by phone about their current pain intensity (0-10 numeric rating scale). Chronic pain was defined as patients with current pain intensity ≥4 at 3 months.
A total of 305 participants remained in the study at 3 months, 49% were women and a mean age of 55±15 years. Twelve per cent (11.9; 95% CI 8.2 to 15.4) of patients had chronic pain at the 3-month follow-up. Controlling for age, sex and pain condition, patients with moderate or severe pain trajectories and those with only a severe pain trajectory were respectively 5.1 (95% CI 2.2 to 11.8) and 8.2 (95% CI 3.4 to 20.0) times more likely to develop chronic pain 3 months later compared with patients in the low final pain trajectories.
Specific acute pain trajectories following an ED visit are closely related to the development of chronic pain 3 months later.

Ankylosing spondylitis with Andersson lesions is not rare, but its potential pathogenesis and natural course remain unclear.
We describe a case of CT image changes in ankylosing spondylitis from fracture to Andersson lesions. A 40-year-old man with a 23-year history of ankylosing spondylitis presented with acute **** pain after a slight fall, and the CT showed a T12 fracture; the patient refused surgery for 12 months. The process from fracture to Andersson lesions was characterized by CT, including the subsequent interbody bone graft with internal fixation and successful bone fusion at the last follow-up. Histopathologic analysis showed degenerative fibrocartilage tissue calcification, necrotic intervertebral disc tissue, fibrovascular hyperplasia, and focal accumulation of inflammatory cells.
Aseptic inflammation and persistent instability caused by a fracture contributed in the course from fracture to Andersson lesions in ankylosing spondylitis. CT can accurately track the pathological process, and interbody fusion via the posterior pedicle lateral approach can achieve satisfactory effectiveness, good fusion and kyphosis correction.

Hypertension (HTN) is a silent killer, accountable for life-threatening complications. An individual's illness perception may affect adherence to treatment which is crucial to prevent complications of HTN. The objective of this study was to identify illness perception and treatment adherence among patients with HTN in a tertiary hospital in Kathmandu, Nepal.
Descriptive correlational study was conducted in the out-patient department of Manmohan Cardiothoracic Vascular and Transplant Center, Kathmandu Nepal. Non-probability purposive sampling was used. A face-to-face interview was conducted from September to December 2018, using a structured questionnaire that included socio-demographic variables, illness perception questionnaire (revised) and Hill bone compliance to high blood pressure therapy scale. Data analysis was done by using descriptive and inferential statistics (chi-square test, Spearman rank correlation).
Among 204 participants, 51% were male, 77% were literate, mean ± S.D. age was 60±12. Abouachieve perfect treatment adherence. Reinforcement is essential to maintain adherence to both medications and behaviour therapy.

A patient education program has been developed in the field of cancer for supporting cancer patients undergoing oral anticancer therapies. Its implementation was tested in 3 different settings. The objectives of this study were to 1) identify barriers and facilitators for implementing the patient education program, 2) identify practices encouraging or hindering implementation and 3) produce recommendations for its dissemination.
Twenty semi-structured interviews were conducted with caregivers from all three establishments.
The main factors associated with successful implementation were as follows prescribers' representations on patient education, considered of low value; on oral anticancer therapies, considered too dangerous to be handled by the patient him/herself, the indefinite legitimacy of certain professions in charge of patient education programs; patients' engagement in their care pathway and provision of caregivers.
Recommendations include developing patient education culture within the envircipants were given written and verbal information about the study and gave informed consent to participate.
This study aimed to simplify the version-1 Chinese and Western medication adherence scale for patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) to a version-2 scale using item response theory (IRT) analyses, and to further evaluate the performance of the version-2 scale.
Firstly, we refined the version-1 scale using IRT analyses to examine the discrimination parameter (a), difficulty parameter (b) and maximum information function peak (Imax). The final scale refinement from version-1 to version-2 scale was also decided upon clinical considerations. Secondly, we analyzed the reliability and validity of version-2 scale using classical test theory (CTT), as well as difficulty, discrimination and Imax of version-1 and version-2 scale using IRT in order to conduct scale evaluation.
For scale refinement, the 26-item version-1 scale was reduced to a 15-item version-2 scale after IRT analyses. For scale evaluation using CTT, internal consistency reliability (total Cronbach α = 0.842) and test-rest reliability (r = 0.909) of version-2 scale were desirable.

Overall, MEX3A was identified as a potential tumor promoter in glioma development and therapeutic target in glioma treatment.Renal fibrosis is the common feature of all progressive kidney diseases and exerts great burden on public health worldwide. The maladaptive repair mechanism of tubular epithelial cells, an important mediator of renal fibrogenesis, manifests with partial epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) and cell cycle arrest. The aim of this study is to investigate the possible correlation between partial EMT and cell cycle arrest, and elucidate the underlying mechanism. We examined human kidney allograft samples with interstitial fibrosis and three **** renal fibrosis models, unilateral ureter obstruction (UUO), ischemia-reperfusion injury, and Adriamycin nephropathy. The partial EMT process and p53-p21 axis were elevated in both human allograft with interstitial fibrosis, as well as three **** renal fibrosis models, and showed a time-dependent increase as fibrosis progressed in the UUO model. Snai1 controlled the partial EMT process, and led to parallel changes in renal fibrosis, G2/M arrest, and inflammation. p53-p21 axis arrested cell cycle at G2/M, and prompted partial EMT and fibrosis together with inflammation. NF-κB inhibitor Bay11-7082 disrupted the reciprocal loop between Snai1-induced partial EMT and p53-p21-mediated G2/M arrest. We demonstrated the reciprocal loop between partial EMT and G2/M arrest of TECs during renal fibrogenesis and revealed NF-κB-mediated inflammatory response as the underlying mechanism. Recently, we investigated the effect of exosomes from STIM1-knockout breast cancer MDA-MB-231 cells (Exo-STIM1-KO), and from SKF96365-treated MDA-MB-231 cells (Exo-SKF) on angiogenesis in human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) and nude ****. The maladaptive repair mechanism of tubular epithelial cells, an important mediator of renal fibrogenesis, manifests with partial epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) and cell cycle arrest. The aim of this study is to investigate the possible correlation between partial EMT and cell cycle arrest, and elucidate the underlying mechanism. We examined human kidney allograft samples with interstitial fibrosis and three mice renal fibrosis models, unilateral ureter obstruction (UUO), ischemia-reperfusion injury, and Adriamycin nephropathy. The partial EMT process and p53-p21 axis were elevated in both human allograft with interstitial fibrosis, as well as three mice renal fibrosis models, and showed a time-dependent increase as fibrosis progressed in the UUO model. Snai1 controlled the partial EMT process, and led to parallel changes in renal fibrosis, G2/M arrest, and inflammation. p53-p21 axis arrested cell cycle at G2/M, and prompted partial EMT and fibrosis together with inflammation. NF-κB inhibitor Bay11-7082 disrupted the reciprocal loop between Snai1-induced partial EMT and p53-p21-mediated G2/M arrest. Sand flies (Diptera Psychodidae) are medically important vectors of human and veterinary disease-causing agents. Among these, the genus Leishmania (Kinetoplastida Trypanosomatidae), and phleboviruses are of utmost importance. Despite such significance, updated information about sand fly fauna is missing for Balkan countries where both sand flies and autochtonous leishmaniases are historically present and recently re-emerging. Therefore, a review of historical data on sand fly species composition and distribution in the region was followed by a large-scale entomological survey in eight Balkan countries to provide a recent update on local sand fly fauna.
The literature search involved the period 1910-2019. The entomological survey was conducted at 1189 sampling stations in eight countries (Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia and Slovenia), covering 49 settlements and 358 sampling sites between June and October in the years 2014 and 2016, accumulating 130 sas for four countries in the study area and presenting new species records for six countries and updated species lists for all surveyed countries. Our findings demonstrate presence of proven and suspected vectors of several Leishmania species.

Preclinical research suggests that the efficacy of immune checkpoint inhibitors in breast cancer can be enhanced by combining them with antiangiogenics, particularly in a sequential fashion. We sought to explore the efficacy and biomarkers of combining the anti-PD-L1 durvalumab plus the antiangiogenic bevacizumab after bevacizumab monotherapy for advanced HER2-negative breast cancer.
Patients had advanced HER2-negative disease that progressed while receiving single-agent bevacizumab maintenance as a part of a previous chemotherapy plus bevacizumab regimen. Treatment consisted of bi-weekly durvalumab plus bevacizumab (10 mg/kg each i.v.). Peripheral-blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) were obtained before the first durvalumab dose and every 4 weeks and immunophenotyped by flow-cytometry. A fresh pre-durvalumab tumor biopsy was obtained; gene-expression studies and immunohistochemical staining to assess vascular normalization and characterize the immune infiltrate were conducted. Laryngeal and hypopharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (LHSCC) with thyroid cartilage invasion are considered T4 and need total laryngectomy. As a result, external loading produces movement between the prosthesis and residual limb that can lead to undesirable soft-tissue shear stresses. As these stresses are difficult to measure, limb loading is commonly used as a surrogate. However, the relationship between limb loading and the displacements responsible for those stresses remains unknown. To better understand the limb motion within the socket, an inverse kinematic analysis was performed to estimate the motion between the socket and tibia for 10 individuals with a transtibial amputation performing walking and turning activities at 3 different speeds. The authors estimated the rotational stiffness of the limb-socket body to quantify the limb properties when coupled with the socket and highlight how this approach could help inform prosthetic prescriptions. Results showed that peak transverse displacement had a significant, linear relationship with peak transverse loading. Stiffness of the limb-socket body varied significantly between individuals, activities (walking and turning), and speeds. These results suggest that transverse limb loading can serve as a surrogate for residual-limb shear stress and that the setup of a prosthesis could be individually tailored using standard motion capture and inverse kinematic analyses.An extended time window was used to examine susceptibility to, and detection of, deception in rugby union. Active workstations are used to implement physical activity interventions in workplaces, but it is unclear if they can lead to reductions in body weight. This study aims to observe the acute impact of a standing desk on energy intake and appetite sensations.
Participants came to the laboratory, where they were randomly assigned to a seated or a standing desk. They completed a work session (∼75min) during which they performed cognitive tasks and reported their levels of stress. Following this, they had a 15-minute break during which buffet-type snacks were served. Subjects were asked to rate their appetite sensations on visual analog scales.

In a randomized, matched-pairs design, participants traveled with (INT; n = 10) or without (CON; n = 10) a light exposure and sleep hygiene intervention. Performance was assessed via countermovement jump, 20-m sprint, T test, and Yo-Yo Intermittent Recovery Level 1 tests, together with perceptual measures of jet lag, fatigue, mood, and motivation. Sleep was measured using wrist activity monitors in conjunction with self-report diaries.
Magnitude-based inference and standardized effect-size analysis indicated there was a very likely improvement in the mean change in countermovement jump peak power (effect size 1.10, ±0.55), and likely improvement in 5-m (0.54, ±0.67) and 20-m (0.74, ±0.71) sprint time in INT compared with CON across the 4 days posttravel. Sleep duration was most likely greater in INT both during travel (1.61, ±0.82) and across the 4 nights following travel (1.28, ±0.58) compared with CON. As these stresses are difficult to measure, limb loading is commonly used as a surrogate. However, the relationship between limb loading and the displacements responsible for those stresses remains unknown. To better understand the limb motion within the socket, an inverse kinematic analysis was performed to estimate the motion between the socket and tibia for 10 individuals with a transtibial amputation performing walking and turning activities at 3 different speeds. The authors estimated the rotational stiffness of the limb-socket body to quantify the limb properties when coupled with the socket and highlight how this approach could help inform prosthetic prescriptions. Results showed that peak transverse displacement had a significant, linear relationship with peak transverse loading. Stiffness of the limb-socket body varied significantly between individuals, activities (walking and turning), and speeds. Emphasis on mass production with sturdy but homogeneous materials and low-fidelity casting techniques diminishes these models' abilities to realistically represent the unique characteristics of the pediatric airway, particularly in the infant and younger age ranges. Newer fabrication technologies, including 3-dimensional (3D) printing and castable tissue-like silicones, open new approaches to the simulation of pediatric airways with greater anatomical fidelity and utility for procedure training.
After ethics approval, available/archived computerized tomography data sets of patients under the age of 2 years were reviewed to identify those suitable for designing new models. A single 21-month-old subject was selected for 3D reconstruction. Manual thresholding was then performed to produce 3D models of selected regions and tissue types within the dataset, which were eitherging into a functional airway management simulator, and our modular design allows for modification of individual elements to easily vary anatomical configurations, haptic qualities of components or exchange components to replicate pathology.

This study utilizes Medicare Cost Reports, LTCFocus, Certification and Survey Provider Enhanced Reporting, Online Survey Certification and Reporting, and the Area Health Resource File to examine an average of 10,454 nursing homes per year from 2000 to 2015. Using Porter's framework, market factors were conceptualized as the bargaining power of buyers and suppliers, threat of substitutes and new entrants, and industry rivalry. Organizational control variables include occupancy, payer mix, size, and chain affiliation. Data were analyzed using multinomial logistic regression with robust clustering, year, and state fixed effects.
Distressed nursing homes (Relative Risk Ratios [RRR] = 0.991) were less likely to be in counreater insight as it relates to designing new policies and interventions.
Ensuring safe transitions of care around hospital discharge requires effective relationships and communication between health care teams. Relational coordination (RC) is a process of communicating and relating for the purpose of task integration that predicts desirable outcomes for patients and providers. RC can be measured using a validated survey.
The aim of the study was to demonstrate the application of RC practices within the rural Transitions Nurse Program (TNP), a nationwide transitions of care intervention for Veterans, and assess relationships and mechanisms for developing RC in teams.
TNP implemented practices expected to support RC. These included creation of a transition nurse role, preimplementation site visits, process mapping to understand workflow, creation of standardized communication templates and protocols, and inclusion of teamwork and shared accountability in job descriptions and annual reviews. We used the RC Survey to measure RC for TNP health care teams. Associations between the months each site participated in TNP, number of Veterans enrolled, and adherence to the TNP intervention were assessed as possible mechanisms for developing high RC using Spearman (rs) correlations.
The RC Survey was completed by 44 providers from 11 Veterans Health Administration medical centers. RC scores were high across sites (mean = 4.19; 1-5 Likert scale) and were positively correlated with months participating in TNP (rs = .66) and number of enrollees (rs = .63), but not with adherence to the TNP intervention (rs = .12).
The impact of practices to support RC can be assessed using the RC Survey. Our findings suggest scale-up time is a likely mechanism to the development of high-quality relationships and communication within teams.

Based on the daily reimbursement mechanism for different levels of hospice care, inpatient services provision could influence both hospice-level length of stay (LOS) and financial performance.

Human serum ceruloplasmin (Cp) is a unique member of MCOs composed of six cupredoxin domains and harbors six Cu ions arranged as three T1 Cu and one TNC. The native substrate of Cp is Fe2+. It is an essential ferroxidase critical for iron homeostasis and is closely associated with metal-mediated diseases and metal neurotoxicity. In human serum, Cp operates under substrate-limiting low [Fe2+] but high [O2] conditions, implying the possible involvement of partially reduced intermediates in Cp catalysis. In this work, we studied for the first time Cp reactivities at defined partially reduced states and discovered a tyrosine radical weakly magnetically coupled to the native intermediate (NI) of the TNC via a hydrogen bond. When administered in ****, hydrogel-based sustained vaccine exposure enhanced the magnitude, duration, and quality of the humoral immune response compared to standard PBS bolus administration of the same model vaccine. In human serum, Cp operates under substrate-limiting low [Fe2+] but high [O2] conditions, implying the possible involvement of partially reduced intermediates in Cp catalysis. Mean body mass index was 40.4 kg/m
(range 32.7-56 kg/m
) in 11 patients. Procedures performed were laparoscopic right hemicolectomy (7) - one with high anterior resection, pelvic peritonectomy, bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy and greater omentectomy, small bowel resection (2), transverse colotomy (1) and segmental transverse colectomy (1). All colonic specimens were extracted via NOSE (vaginal colpotomy or transcolonic), except two requiring a miniaturized extraction wound. Small bowel specimens were extracted via a 12-mm port hole, without extension. Mean operating time was 240 min (range 100-510 min). Mean time to discharge was 4 days (range 4-6 days). Complications included a superficial wound infection in a patient presenting with an obstructed tumour and a second patient developed a seroma following small bowel resection for an incarcerated hernia.

Few studies have focused on the changes of NK, T- and B-cell subsets, inflammatory cytokines and virus-specific antibodies in patients with moderate COVID-19. A total of 11 RT-PCR-confirmed convalescent patients with COVID-19 and 11 patients with non-SARS-CoV-2 pneumonia (control patients) were enrolled in this study. NK, CD8+ T, CD4+ T, Tfh-like and B-cell subsets were analysed using flow cytometry. Cytokines and SARS-CoV-2-specific antibodies were analysed using an electrochemiluminescence immunoassay. NK cell counts were significantly higher in patients with COVID-19 than in control patients (P = 0.017). Effector memory CD8+ T-cell counts significantly increased in patients with COVID-19 during a convalescent period of 1 week (P = 0.041). TIM-3+ Tfh-like cell and CD226+ Tfh-like cell counts significantly increased (P = 0.027) and decreased (P = 0.022), respectively, during the same period. Moreover, ICOS+ Tfh-like cell counts tended to decrease (P = 0.074). No abnormal increase in cytokine levels was observed. The high expression of NK cells is important in innate immune response against SARS-CoV-2. Radioenzymatic assay was conducted to measure the levels of histamine, and ELISA assay was conducted to measure bronchial levels of interleukin (IL)-1b, tumour necrosis factor (TNF)-a, cytokine-induced neutrophil chemoattractant (CINC)-1, P-selectin and β-hexosaminidase. The tension in the main and intrapulmonary bronchi of DM+INDUCTION rats was lower than that of the non-DM+INDUCTION rats, whereas the treatment of insulin partly restored the normal airway responsiveness to OA in DM rats. The release of histamine was remarkably suppressed in DM+INDUCTION rats but was recovered by the insulin treatment.

Here, we report using PacBio long-read and OpGen and 10X Genomics long-molecule methods to generate a highly contiguous 283.4 Mbp chromosome-scale genome assembly including a resolved sex chromosome for the MHco3(ISE).N1 isolate. We show a remarkable pattern of conservation of chromosome content with Caenorhabditis elegans, but almost no conservation of gene order. Short and long-read transcriptome sequencing allowed us to define coordinated transcriptional regulation throughout the parasite's life cycle and refine our understanding of cis- and trans-splicing. Finally, we provide a comprehensive picture of chromosome-wide genetic diversity both within a single isolate and globally. These data provide a high-quality comparison for understanding the evolution and genomics of Caenorhabditis and other nematodes and extend the experimental tractability of this model parasitic nematode in understanding helminth biology, drug discovery and vaccine development, as well as important adaptive traits such as drug resistance.Achromatopsia is an inherited retinal disease characterized by loss of cone photoreceptor function. Day blind CNGA3 mutant Improved Awassi sheep provide a large animal model for achromatopsia. This study measured refractive error and axial length parameters of the eye in this model and evaluated chromatic pupillary light reflex (cPLR) testing as a potential screening test for loss of cone function. Twenty-one CNGA3 mutant, Improved Awassi, 12 control Afec-Assaf and 12 control breed-matched wild-type (WT) Awassi sheep were examined using streak retinoscopy and B-mode ocular ultrasonography. Four CNGA3 mutant and four Afec-Assaf control sheep underwent cPLR testing. Statistical tests showed that day-blind sheep are significantly more myopic than both Afec-Assaf and WT Awassi controls. Day-blind sheep had significantly longer vitreous axial length compared to WT Awassi (1.43 ± 0.13 and 1.23 ± 0.06 cm, respectively, p less then 0.0002) and no response to bright red light compared to both controls. Lack of response to bright red light is consistent with cone dysfunction, demonstrating that cPLR can be used to diagnose day blindness in sheep. In support of a role for MAFR-1 in the male germline, we found mafr-1 null males have smaller spermatids that are less capable in competition for fertilization; a phenotype that was dependent on RNA pol III activity. Restoration of MAFR-1 expression specifically in the germline rescued the spermatid-related phenotypes, suggesting a cell autonomous role for MAFR-1 in nematode male fertility. The purpose of this study was to evaluate whether the proposed method was more accurate than other commonly used DL or AD methods. Magnetic resonance (MR) images of 245 parotid tumors (22.5% malignant) were retrospectively collected. We evaluated the diagnostic accuracy of the proposed method (VGG16-based DL and AD) and that of classification models using conventional DL and AD methods. A radiologist also evaluated the MR images. ROC and precision-recall (PR) analyses were performed, and the area under the curve (AUC) was calculated. In terms of diagnostic performance, the VGG16-based model with the L2-constrained softmax loss and AD (local outlier factor) outperformed conventional DL and AD methods and a radiologist (ROC-AUC = 0.86 and PR-ROC = 0.77). We deleted mafr-1 from the Caenorhabditis elegans genome and found that animals lacking mafr-1 replicated many phenotypes from previous RNAi-based studies and discovered a new sperm-specific role. Utilizing a yeast two-hybrid assay, we discovered several novel interactors of MAFR-1 that are expressed in a sperm- and germline-enriched manner. In support of a role for MAFR-1 in the male germline, we found mafr-1 null males have smaller spermatids that are less capable in competition for fertilization; a phenotype that was dependent on RNA pol III activity. Restoration of MAFR-1 expression specifically in the germline rescued the spermatid-related phenotypes, suggesting a cell autonomous role for MAFR-1 in nematode male fertility. The purpose of this study was to evaluate whether the proposed method was more accurate than other commonly used DL or AD methods. Magnetic resonance (MR) images of 245 parotid tumors (22.5% malignant) were retrospectively collected. We evaluated the diagnostic accuracy of the proposed method (VGG16-based DL and AD) and that of classification models using conventional DL and AD methods. A radiologist also evaluated the MR images. ROC and precision-recall (PR) analyses were performed, and the area under the curve (AUC) was calculated. In terms of diagnostic performance, the VGG16-based model with the L2-constrained softmax loss and AD (local outlier factor) outperformed conventional DL and AD methods and a radiologist (ROC-AUC = 0.86 and PR-ROC = 0.77). Polymer-free biolimus A9-coated coronary stent (DCS) has novel features which lead to the expectation of better arterial healing. However, comparisons of intravascular status between DCS and drug-eluting stents (DES), and robust real-word clinical assessments of DCS have been lacking to date.
From September 2017 to September 2018, we evaluated the intra-vascular status of 74 DCS implanted in 55 lesions from 43 patients using coronary angioscopy (CAS) approximately one year after implantation from a cohort of 219 lesions in 158 patients. We set 239 second-generation durable-polymer DES (DP-DES) implanted in 211 lesions from 180 patients from a cohort of 2652 lesions in 1914 patients as the control. Angioscopic images were analyzed to determine (1) the dominant degree of neointimal coverage (NIC) over the stent; (2) the heterogeneity of NIC; (3) yellow color grade of the stented segment; and (4) the presence of intra-stent thrombus. The primary outcome was the incidence of thrombus and secondary outcomes weDP-DES. DCS can thus be used with similar safety and efficacy as DP-DES.
Restoration of anterograde blood flow leads to alterations in vascular wall stress that may influence lumen size distal to chronic total occlusion (CTO) lesions. We sought to assess changes in lumen diameter of segments distal to the stent segment of successfully recanalized CTO.
We analyzed 507 consecutive CTO cases with stent implantation that underwent follow-up angiography at a single high-volume center (mean follow-up of 13.5 months). Segments ≤40 mm distal to the stent edge were analyzed using quantitative coronary angiography.
At follow-up, lumen diameters significantly increased; diameter changes of 0.26 ± 0.47 (percent diameter change of 18.2%) at 5 mm distal, mean lumen diameter changes of 0.23 ± 0.35 (14.3%) and minimal lumen diameter changes of 0.22 ± 0.80 (24.7%) (all p < 0.001). Lumen enlargement was similar between visually shrunken and stenosed vessels (degree of stenosis ≥20% with luminal irregularities) distal to stents; 5 mm distal (0.32 ± 0.48 vs. 0.30 ± 0.48, p = 0.76), mean lumeistal to CTO lesions significantly increased following successful revascularization, regardless of diseased status of the distal bed or degree of in-stent narrowing. These findings implicate appropriate determination of stent size, stent coverage length, as well as management strategies of distal vessels.

From June 2018to November 2018, patients from Janzé Hospital (Ille et Vilaine) did an ophthalmologic teleconsultation during their stay. Teleconsultation was based on visual acuity, intraocular pressure measurement, wild-field retinophotography and optical coherence tomography performed by an orthoptist and a videoconference with an ophthalmologist.

Using Guangdong Province as a case study, the energy, water and carbon footprints are modelled from production-based, consumption-based and network (betweenness)-based perspectives. The results show that (1) the construction sector is a key sector for energy use/water use/carbon emissions from the three perspectives. The electricity and heat power production and supply sector emitted the most production-based CO2 (283.4 Mt), accounting for 52.3% of the total CO2 emissions. (2) The key sectors in terms of energy, water and carbon differ. The transport, storage and post sector is an important sector for energy consumption, and the agriculture sector and food and tobacco sector are important sectors for freshwater withdrawal.
