CONCLUSION studies show that financial toxicity damages the quality of life of patients. RESULTS A total of 353 articles were finally included in the analysis based on the pre-defined eligibility criteria. Most were articles of which the studies were conducted in Thailand (335 articles, 94.90%). Disease diagnosis/diagnostics (n=266, 75.35%), biochemistry (n =223, 63.17%), and pharmacology and toxicology (n =218, 61.76%) were the three main research disciplines/categories for CAA conducted in SEA countries during 2010-2015. Methods We analyzed the rates of gross en bloc resection and complete resections of 108 consecutive tumors from 69 patients resected by precutting endoscopic mucosal resection (precutting), hybrid endoscopic submucosal dissection (hybrid), or conventional endoscopic submucosal dissection (conventional) using SOUTEN. Results Out of the 108 tumors, 50 were resected by precutting, 27 were resected by hybrid after attempting precutting, and the remaining 31 were resected by conventional after attempting precutting and hybrid resections. The median tumor sizes were 14.5 mm for precutting, 16.4 mm for hybrid, and 21.1 mm for conventional. The success rate of gross en bloc resection and histological complete resection were 100% and 94.0% for precutting, 96.4% and 96.4% for hybrid, and 100% and 100% for conventional method, respectively. No procedure-related complication occurred. METHODS A prospective study of women who delivered macrosomic neonates at a University Hospital Center, Zagreb, Croatia, 2016-2018. Maternal, umbilical vein, and arterial blood samples were collected immediately on delivery. After lipid extraction, total FAs in maternal, umbilical vein, and arterial serum samples were assessed by gas chromatography. Data were compared between women with T1DM and healthy control women. RESULTS In total, 50 women were enrolled 22 with T1DM and 28 control women. Neonates in the T1DM group had a higher ponderal index as compared with the control group (P=0.006). Umbilical vein insulin, insulin resistance, and leptin concentration were higher in the T1DM group than in the control group (all P less then 0.001). Umbilical vein serum concentrations of total saturated, monounsaturated, n-3 polyunsaturated, and n-6 polyunsaturated FAs were higher in the T1DM group (P=0.004, P less then 0.001, P=0.015, and P=0.014, respectively). CONCLUSION Macrosomic neonates delivered by women with T1DM had a higher Ponderal index, and higher concentrations of insulin, leptin, and FAs in the umbilical vein and artery as compared with control group newborns. All rights reserved.OBJECTIVE To evaluate a treponemal enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) as an alternative screening test for syphilis in pregnant women. METHODS A cross-sectional study of diagnostic test accuracy was carried out in a large volume laboratory from a tertiary care center. A total of 416 serum samples, including 102 archived syphilis Treponema pallidum hemagglutination (TPHA)-positive samples and 314 samples from pregnant women, were used to determine the sensitivity and specificity of ELISA. All the samples were subjected to Venereal Disease Research Laboratory (VDRL), rapid plasma reagin (RPR), ELISA, and TPHA tests. Performance characteristics of VDRL, RPR, and ELISA were calculated with TPHA as a reference standard test. RESULTS VDRL and RPR exhibited higher false positivity of 10.5% and 9.6%, respectively, compared to 2.5% by ELISA. The sensitivity and specificity of ELISA were 98% and 97.5%, of VDRL were 71.6% and 89.5%, and of RPR were 73.5% and 90.5%, respectively. Moreover, ELISA had an excellent agreement (kappa = 0.9) with TPHA compared to VDRL/RPR which had a moderate agreement (kappa = 0.6) only. CONCLUSION ELISA has the potential to replace VDRL/RPR as a screening test for syphilis in centers that can perform ELISA, especially for antenatal screening. This article is protected by copyright. Upregulation of cell adhesion molecules (CAMs) upon endothelial cell (EC) activation plays an important role in leukocyte trans-endothelial migration. CAMs can shed from EC cell surface and accumulate in the blood, serving as soluble markers for EC activation. In this study, we examined the impact of heavy drinking on expression of soluble forms of EC activation markers (CD146, ICAM-1, VCAM-1, and VEGF-A) and the effect of alcohol abstinence on the reversal of these abnormalities in patients with and without AH. METHODS ELISA and multiplex immunoassays were used to measure soluble EC markers in plasma samples from 79 AH patients, 66 heavy drinkers without overt liver disease (HDC), and 44 healthy controls (HC) at baseline, 31 AH patients and 30 HDC at 6-month follow-up, and 18 AH patients and 25 HDC at 12-month follow-up. Physical activity, sleep time, screen time and dietary behaviours were assessed according to a series of recommendations of Chinese guidelines. Parenting interventions must also strengthen parent-child relationships in order to be effective at improving child outcomes.Subjective measures of cognitive abilities are often used in various environments, such as clinical, experimental, and professional settings. Here, we assess the quality of such measures, specifically looking into the impact of age and gender. Spatial navigation ability will be used as an exemplary case, given its large individual variation and relevance to the healthy aging process. With a navigation experiment and a self-report questionnaire, the objective and subjective navigation performance of 7150 participants (age 18-89 years) was measured. Results showed the participants provided informative estimates of their cognitive performance. However, strong systematic biases were present related to age and gender. Overestimation increased with increasing age. Overestimation was also found for males, whereas underestimation was found for females. Consideration of such biases is recommended when implementing self-report measures of cognition and considering the potential impact these biases may have on cognitive functioning itself.The Commission on Cancer's standard 3.3 represents a paradigm shift in the care of cancer survivors, recommending that survivors receive a treatment summary and survivorship care plan (SCPs). A focus on older breast cancer survivors is needed, as they are the majority of the breast cancer population and their experiences and perspectives of SCPs is limited in the literature. This pilot study utilized a mixed methods approach (focus groups and self-report questionnaire data) to gather information on older (≥65 years) breast cancer survivors' perspectives of their SCPs, cancer survivorship, and communication with their health-care providers. The questionnaire was completed individually by the participants prior to the focus group and contained items on basic demographics and their health status following cancer treatment. The focus groups indicated that only a minority of women actually developed a SCP. Those who developed a SCP in collaboration with their providers valued the personal care and attention received. However, some participants reported poor communication with their providers and within their health-care team, resulting in frustration and confusion. Participants' suggestions for ideal SCPs included better education and personalization, particularly in appropriate nutrition and exercise, and managing side effects and comorbidities. Lastly, the women believed that additional long-term care resources, such as health coaches, were important in improving their survivorship. These findings provide insight into enhancing the content, communication, and application of SCPs to improve the survivorship experience of older breast cancer survivors.Objectives Previous studies indicated that stress diagnoses increase the risk of dementia. This pilot study utilized a mixed methods approach (focus groups and self-report questionnaire data) to gather information on older (≥65 years) breast cancer survivors' perspectives of their SCPs, cancer survivorship, and communication with their health-care providers. The questionnaire was completed individually by the participants prior to the focus group and contained items on basic demographics and their health status following cancer treatment. The focus groups indicated that only a minority of women actually developed a SCP. Those who developed a SCP in collaboration with their providers valued the personal care and attention received. However, some participants reported poor communication with their providers and within their health-care team, resulting in frustration and confusion. Participants' suggestions for ideal SCPs included better education and personalization, particularly in appropriate nutrition and exercise, and managing side effects and comorbidities. Lastly, the women believed that additional long-term care resources, such as health coaches, were important in improving their survivorship. An Outbreak of Chook Aviadenovirus A-Associated Gizzard Break down and Ulceration throughout Attentive Bobwhite Quail (Colinus virginianus).
Twenty-six patients (72.2%) were bitten by donkeys, and 10 (27.8%) by horses. Bites were most common in September (30.6%). The most commonly bitten areas were the **** and/or upper extremities. Rabies vaccination was administered in all cases. Amoxicillin-clavulanic acid was prescribed in 28 (77.8%) cases. Conclusion Horse and donkey bites are frequently observed in rural areas. The inhabitants of such areas should therefore be educated concerning horse and donkey bites. Health workers encountering such bites should behave in the same way as in more common animal bites in terms of patient management. Our results will be instructive for other developing countries similar to Turkey. The surface roughness and microhardness were measured before and after bleaching procedures with 35% hydrogen peroxide or 16% carbamide (n = 10). Data were analyzed using 1-way analysis of variance and the Fisher test (α = 0.05). Results Neither hydrogen peroxide nor carbamide peroxide treatment significantly altered the hardness of the composite resins, regardless of surface sealant application; however, both treatments significantly decreased the hardness of the tooth samples (p less then 0.05). The bleaching did not cause any change in surface roughness, with the exception of the unsealed Opallis composite resin and dental enamel, both of which displayed an increase in surface roughness after bleaching with carbamide peroxide (p less then 0.05). Materials and Methods In this in vivo study, cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) volumes of 312 bilateral intact first mandibular molars from 156 patients (79 men and 77 women; average age, 35.6 ± 11.2 years) were investigated in terms of the direction of each canal's curvature in the buccolingual and mesiodistal dimensions (direction of the position of the apex in relation to the longitudinal axis of the root), the presence of an isthmus (a narrow, ribbon-shaped communication between 2 root canals) in 3 segments (0-2, 2-4, and 4-6 mm) from the apex), and the presence and number of accessory canals (smaller canals besides the main root canals, connecting the pulp to the periodontium). Data were analyzed statistically (α = 0.05). Results Mesiolingual canals were mostly buccally and distally inclined, while mesiobuccal and distolingual canals were mostly distally curved. Isthmuses were more common in younger patients (χ2 test, p 0.05). Conclusions The complex anatomy of these teeth deserves attention during non-surgical or surgical endodontic treatment. Reliable approaches to identify stem cell mechanisms that mediate aggressive cancer could have great therapeutic value, based on the growing evidence of embryonic signatures in metastatic cancers. However, how to best identify and target stem-like mechanisms aberrantly acquired by cancer cells has been challenging. We harnessed the power of reprogramming to examine GRP78, a chaperone protein generally restricted to the endoplasmic reticulum in normal tissues, but which is expressed on the cell surface of human embryonic stem cells and many cancer types. MATERIALS AND METHODS An electronic literature search was undertaken in Cochrane, Medline, Cinahl, Dentistry & Oral Science Source via EBSCOhost and Embase with no restriction on the date of publication. RESULTS The initial search identified 449 articles, 338 remained after removal of duplicates. Seventy-seven articles remained after screening of titles and abstracts, 52 were eligible for the full-text review. A considerable variety of beverages, food and dietary habits were reported as risk factors for dental erosion. The most consistent findings implicated the erosive potential of carbonated beverages and the consumption of acidic drinks at bedtime. CONCLUSIONS Although results were not consistent between cohort and cross-sectional studies, this review suggests certain dietary risk factors may contribute to dental erosion in adolescents. There is a need for more high quality cohort studies to establish more conclusive evidence on the role of dietary acids and habits on dental erosion. This article is protected by copyright. This may not only increase daytime stress, anxiety and depression levels but also disrupt sleep. Importantly, because of the fundamental role that sleep plays in emotion regulation, sleep disturbance can have direct consequences upon next day emotional functioning. In this paper we summarize what is known about the stress-sleep link and confinement as well as effective insomnia treatment. We discuss those effects of the current home confinement situation that can disrupt sleep but also those that could benefit sleep quality. We suggest adaptions of cognitive behavioral therapy elements that are feasible to implement for those facing changed work schedules and requirements, those with health anxiety and those handling childcare and homeschooling, whilst also recognizing the general limitations imposed on physical exercise and social interaction. Managing sleep problems as best as possible during home confinement can limit stress and possibly prevent disruptions of social relationships. This article is protected by copyright. Historical genetic introgression has been reported between them; however, the existence of introgression and its genetic effects on agronomic traits remain unclear with regard to independent breeding of G. hirsutum (Upland) and G. barbadense (Pima) elite cultivars. We collected 159 G. hirsutum and 70 G. barbadense cultivars, along with 30 semi-wild accessions of G. hirsutum, to perform interspecific introgression tests, intraspecific selection analyses, and genome-wide association studies (GWAS) with fibre quality and yield component traits in multiple environments. In total, we identified seven interspecific introgression events and 52 selective sweep loci in G. hirsutum, as well as 17 interspecific introgression events and 19 selective sweep loci in G. barbadense. Correlation tests between agronomic traits and introgressions showed that introgression loci were mutually beneficial for the improvement of fibre quality and yield traits in both species. Factors investigated included participating institution, signalment, shunt morphology, concurrent/historical conditions, presence of preoperative neurologic signs, presence of preoperative seizures, aspects of preoperative medical management, surgical details including method and degree of shunt attenuation, type of PAS (focal only or generalized ± focal), drugs administered as part of the treatment of PAS, and development of complications during treatment of PAS.

Infections during first-line therapy for DLBCL are often associated with chemotherapy dose reductions and increased mortality. Systemic infections have also been suggested as beneficial promotors of immunological responses. However, whether there is an association between the timing of an infectious episode and outcome during treatment has not yet been clarified. We investigated how the occurrence and timing of infectious episodes during the 1st line of treatment for 'de novo' DLBCL influenced patient outcome. We used data on DLBCL patients from the Danish Lymphoma Registry, the Danish National Patient Registry and the Danish National Pathology Registry. Infections were categorized according to type (ICD-10) and time of occurrence after treatment start. 'Early' infections were defined as occurring between days 7-42 and 'late' infections between days 100-150 from treatment start. However, the underlying function of microRNA-33b (miR-33b) in HCC remains unclear. Here, we found that miR-33b level was significantly reduced in both HCC tissues and tumor cell lines. Further, luciferase reporter assay and western blot analysis confirmed that Friend leukemia virus integration 1 (Fli-1) was a direct target of miR-33b. Overexpression of miR-33b dramatically suppressed HCC tumor cell proliferation and cell mobility, but facilitated tumor cell apoptosis in vitro. Besides, restoration of Fli-1 partially attenuated miR-33b-mediated inhibition of cell growth and metastasis via activating Notch1 signaling and its downstream effectors. The loss of E-cadherin surface expression, and therefore cell-cell adhesion, leads to increased cell migration and invasion. Treatment of colorectal cancer (CRC)-derived cells (SW-480 and HT-29) with 2.0 mM metformin promoted a redistribution of cytosolic E-cadherin to de novo formed puncta along the length of the contacting membranes of these cells. Metformin also promoted translocation from the cytosol to the plasma membrane of p120-catenin, another core component of the AJs. Furthermore, E-cadherin and p120-catenin colocalized with β-catenin at cell-cell contacts. Western blot analysis of lysates of CRC-derived cells revealed a substantial metformin-induced increase in the level of p120-catenin as well as E-cadherin phosphorylation on Ser838/840 , a modification associated with β-catenin/E-cadherin interaction. These modifications in E-cadherin, p120-catenin and β-catenin localization suggest that metformin induces rebuilding of AJs in CRC-derived cells. Those modifications were accompanied by the inhibition of focal adhesion kinase (FAK), as revealed by a significant decrease in the phosphorylation of FAK at Tyr397 and paxillin at Tyr118 . These changes were associated with a reduction in the numbers, but an increase in the size, of focal adhesions and by the inhibition of cell migration. Using arthroscopic findings as reference standard, diagnostic performances of both methods were analysed by the area under the curve (AUC). RESULTS Arthroscopy confirmed 13 AiTFL and 41 ATFL injuries. For AiTFL, when set 1 and set 3 were compared, AUC value was significantly higher for set 3 (P 0.05). For ATFL, both readers found there was no significant difference in AUC values between set 1 and set 3 and between set 2 and set 3. CONCLUSION Additional oblique coronal sequence demonstrated better diagnostic performance for AiTFL injury than conventional and isotropic imaging did. Infections during first-line therapy for DLBCL are often associated with chemotherapy dose reductions and increased mortality. Systemic infections have also been suggested as beneficial promotors of immunological responses. However, whether there is an association between the timing of an infectious episode and outcome during treatment has not yet been clarified. We investigated how the occurrence and timing of infectious episodes during the 1st line of treatment for 'de novo' DLBCL influenced patient outcome. We used data on DLBCL patients from the Danish Lymphoma Registry, the Danish National Patient Registry and the Danish National Pathology Registry. Infections were categorized according to type (ICD-10) and time of occurrence after treatment start. 'Early' infections were defined as occurring between days 7-42 and 'late' infections between days 100-150 from treatment start. However, the underlying function of microRNA-33b (miR-33b) in HCC remains unclear. Here, we found that miR-33b level was significantly reduced in both HCC tissues and tumor cell lines. Further, luciferase reporter assay and western blot analysis confirmed that Friend leukemia virus integration 1 (Fli-1) was a direct target of miR-33b. Overexpression of miR-33b dramatically suppressed HCC tumor cell proliferation and cell mobility, but facilitated tumor cell apoptosis in vitro. Besides, restoration of Fli-1 partially attenuated miR-33b-mediated inhibition of cell growth and metastasis via activating Notch1 signaling and its downstream effectors. Our findings demonstrate the important role of miR-33b/Fli-1 axis in HCC progression and provide novel therapeutic candidates for HCC clinical treatment. © 2020 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.E-cadherin, a central component of the adherens junction (AJ), is a single-pass transmembrane protein that mediates cell-cell adhesion. The loss of E-cadherin surface expression, and therefore cell-cell adhesion, leads to increased cell migration and invasion. Treatment of colorectal cancer (CRC)-derived cells (SW-480 and HT-29) with 2.0 mM metformin promoted a redistribution of cytosolic E-cadherin to de novo formed puncta along the length of the contacting membranes of these cells. Metformin also promoted translocation from the cytosol to the plasma membrane of p120-catenin, another core component of the AJs. Furthermore, E-cadherin and p120-catenin colocalized with β-catenin at cell-cell contacts. Western blot analysis of lysates of CRC-derived cells revealed a substantial metformin-induced increase in the level of p120-catenin as well as E-cadherin phosphorylation on Ser838/840 , a modification associated with β-catenin/E-cadherin interaction. These modifications in E-cadherin, p120-catenin and β-catenin localization suggest that metformin induces rebuilding of AJs in CRC-derived cells. Those modifications were accompanied by the inhibition of focal adhesion kinase (FAK), as revealed by a significant decrease in the phosphorylation of FAK at Tyr397 and paxillin at Tyr118 . These changes were associated with a reduction in the numbers, but an increase in the size, of focal adhesions and by the inhibition of cell migration.
