At this juncture, this paper examines the determinants of the adoption of mobile payment services among small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in China. The study proposes four-dimensional factors (business factors, technological competence, environment, and consumers' intentions) based on the literature review findings to understand the challenges of adopting mobile payment. A questionnaire is designed to solicit information from the participants. The findings reveal that business factors, technological competencies of SMEs in China, and the environment positively influence mobile payment adoption. Consumer intention has almost no influence on the adoption of mobile payment. Participants engaged in online training with three coaching sessions. We assessed changes in BHI, effects of training utilization and demographics, contributions of sub-domain measures to the BHI and development of a factor ana coaching to improve their brain health. This effort intends to scale up to thousands, thus the pilot data, tested by an impending imaging pilot, will be utilized in ongoing machine learning (ML) algorithms to develop a precision brain health model. This pilot is a first step in scaling evidence-based brain health protocols to reach individuals and positively affect public health globally.This work presents simulation results for different mitigation and confinement scenarios for the propagation of COVID-19 in the metropolitan area of Madrid. These scenarios were implemented and tested using EpiGraph, an epidemic simulator which has been extended to simulate COVID-19 propagation. EpiGraph implements a social interaction model, which realistically captures a large number of characteristics of individuals and groups, as well as their individual interconnections, which are extracted from connection patterns in social networks. Besides the epidemiological and social interaction components, it also models people's short and long-distance movements as part of a transportation model. These features, together with the capacity to simulate scenarios with millions of individuals and apply different contention and mitigation measures, gives EpiGraph the potential to reproduce the COVID-19 evolution and study medium-term effects of the virus when applying mitigation methods. EpiGraph, obtains closely aligned infected and death curves related to the first wave in the Madrid metropolitan area, achieving similar seroprevalence values. We also show that selective lockdown for people over 60 would reduce the number of deaths. In addition, evaluate the effect of the use of face masks after the first wave, which shows that the percentage of people that comply with mask use is a crucial factor for mitigating the infection's spread.Background A non-pharmaceutical treatment offered as psychological support is bibliotherapy, which can be described as the process of reading, reflecting, and discussing literature to further a cognitive shift. Thus, this study aimed to review articles on the effectiveness of bibliotherapy on different mental health problems. Methods A systematic review was conducted to examine relevant studies that assess the effectiveness of bibliotherapy in different clinical settings as a treatment capable of enhancing a sense of purpose and its surrounding values. In line with previous findings, good performance in the sustained attention task was related to higher P300 amplitudes and earlier peak latencies. Unexpectedly, we observed a positive relationship between LRTC in ongoing oscillations during rest and RTV, indicating that greater criticality in brain oscillations during rest relates to worse task performance. In summary, our results show that resting-state neuronal activity, which operates near a critical state, relates to the generation of higher P300 amplitudes. Brain dynamics close to criticality potentially foster a computationally advantageous state which promotes the ability to generate higher event-related potential (ERP) amplitudes.Group analysis in diffusion tensor imaging is challenging. Comparisons of tensor morphology across groups have typically been performed on scalar measures of diffusivity, such as fractional anisotropy (FA), disregarding the complex three-dimensional morphologies of diffusion tensors. In the present study, we have introduced a new approach based on directional statistics to use directional information of diffusion tensors in statistical group analysis based on Bingham distribution. We have investigated different directional statistical models to find the best fit. During the experiments, we confirmed that carrying out directional statistical analysis along the tract is **** more effective than voxel- or skeleton-guided directional statistics. Hence, we propose a new method called tract profiling and directional statistics (TPDS) applicable to fiber bundles. As a case study, the method has been applied to identify connectivity differences of patients with major depressive disorder. The results obtained with the directional statistic-based analysis are consistent with those of NBS, but additionally, we found significant changes in the right hemisphere striatum, ACC, and prefrontal, parietal, temporal, and occipital connections as well as left hemispheric differences in the limbic areas such as the thalamus, amygdala, and hippocampus. The results are also evaluated with respect to fiber lengths. Comparison with the output of the network-based statistical toolbox indicated that the benefit of the proposed method becomes **** more distinctive as the tract length increases. In the present study, we investigated the effects induced by Pt(IV)Ac-POA and its potential antitumor activity in human U251 glioblastoma cell line using a battery of complementary techniques, i.e., flow cytometry, immunocytochemistry, TEM, and Western blotting analyses. In addition, the synergistic effect of Pt(IV)Ac-POA associated with the innovative oncological hadrontherapy with carbon ions was investigated, with the aim to identify the most efficient anticancer treatment combination. Our in vitro data demonstrated that Pt(IV)Ac-POA is able to induce cell death, through different pathways, at concentrations lower than those tested for other platinum analogs. In particular, an enduring Pt(IV)Ac-POA antitumor effect, persisting in long-term treatment, was demonstrated. Interestingly, this effect was further amplified by the combined exposure to carbon ion radiation. In conclusion, Pt(IV)Ac-POA represents a promising prodrug to be incorporated into the treatment regimen for GBM. Moreover, the synergistic efficacy of the combined protocol using chemotherapeutic Pt(IV)Ac-POA followed by carbon ion radiation may represent a promising approach, which may overcome some typical limitations of conventional therapeutic protocols for GBM treatment.Improvement in the accuracy of the postclassification of land use and land cover (LULC) is important to fulfil the need for the rapid mapping of LULC that can describe the changing conditions of phenomena resulting from interactions between humans and the environment. This study proposes the majority of segment-based filtering (MaSegFil) as an approach that can be used for spatial filters of supervised digital classification results. Three digital classification approaches, namely, maximum likelihood (ML), random forest (RF), and the support vector machine (SVM), were applied to test the improvement in the accuracy of LULC postclassification using the MaSegFil approach, based on annual cloud-free Landsat 8 satellite imagery data from 2019. The results of the accuracy assessment for the ML, RF, and SVM classifications before implementing the MaSegFil approach were 73.6%, 77.7%, and 77.5%, respectively. In addition, after using this approach, which was able to reduce pixel noise from the results of the ML, RF, and SVM classifications, there were increases in the accuracy of 81.7%, 85.2%, and 84.3%, respectively. Furthermore, the method that has the best accuracy RF classifier was applied to several national priority watershed locations in Indonesia. The results show that the use of the MaSegFil approach implemented on these watersheds to classify LULC had a variation in overall accuracy ranging from 83.28% to 89.76% and an accuracy improvement of 6.41% to 15.83%.The flatness of muscovite **** makes it a convenient substrate to study epitaxy. We have analyzed the growth of rhodochrosite (MnCO3) crystals in solution and on muscovite ****. Growth at high supersaturations occurs via the formation of amorphous MnCO3, which over time transforms into the crystalline form. Typical plant terpene synthases (TPSs) are responsible for the production of terpenes, a major class of plant secondary metabolites. However, various nonseed plants also harbor genes encoding microbial terpene synthase-like (MTPSL) enzymes. Here, a scan of 31 ferns transcriptomes revealed 40 sequences putatively encoding MTPSLs. Two groups of sequences were recognized based on the key conserved motifs. Four representative genes were isolated from each of the four species Adiantum capillus-veneris, Cyclosorus parasiticus, Drynaria bonii and Microlepia platyphylla. Following their heterologous expression in E. coli, the recombinant proteins were tested for monoterpene synthase and sesquiterpene synthase activity. These enzymatic products were typical monoterpenes and sesquiterpenes that have been previous shown to be generated by classical plant TPSs when provided with GPP and FPP as substrates. Subcellular localization experiments in the leaf epidermis of Nicotiana benthamiana and onion (Allium cepa) inner epidermal cells indicated that AcMTPSL1 and DbMTPSL were deposited in both the cytoplasm and nucleus, whereas CpMTPSL1 and MpMTPSL were localized in the cytoplasm, chloroplasts and nucleus. AcMTPSL1 was up-regulated in plants exposed to methyl jasmonate treatment, suggesting a role for this gene in host defense. Detection of small-molecule metabolites in the lignin pathway revealed that coumaric acid content decreased by 48% and coniferyl alcohol content increased by 250% compared with the control values. Compared with wild type, OE-Fm4CL2 tobacco showed increased xylem cell layer number (by 120%) and cell wall thickness (by 54.5%). Under osmotic stress, transgenic tobacco showed higher growth than wild-type tobacco. The germination rate of transgenic tobacco was higher than that of wild type. Reactive oxygen species accumulation and malondialdehyde content were significantly lower in transgenic tobacco than in wild type. Whereas beat synchronization has long been considered to be specific to the auditory modality, recent studies employing moving instead of static visual stimuli have shown comparable synchronization performances of auditory and visual beats. Here, we show that compared with control subjects, synchronization stability of PD patients significantly decreased for beats composed of visual contracting rings but not for beats consisting of auditory tones or static visual flashes. The results revealed specific impairment of visual beat synchronization in PD. Considering the common experience of visuomotor interactions in daily lives of PD patients, the present finding emphasizes the importance of evaluation of visuomotor timing deficiency in PD by employing moving visual stimuli that have ecological relevance.
Prodromal non-motor symptoms precede, often by decades, motor signs and diagnosis of Parkinson's disease. It is however still uncertain if cognitive changes belong to the spectrum of non-motor prodromal Parkinson's disease. Thanks to the very long-term follow-up of the PAQUID population-based cohort, we assessed trajectories of cognitive complaints and functioning over a 13-year period before the diagnosis of late onset Parkinson's disease.
This study relies on a matched nested case-control sample selected from the cohort. Of the 3777 initial subjects of the cohort, 43 developed incident Parkinson's disease over the follow-up. The mean age at diagnosis was 78.0 (standard deviation=5.8) years and 46.5% were men. These cases were matched to 86 elderly control subjects. Scores of different cognitive domains, daily function, and depressive symptoms were described throughout the follow-up using mixed-effects models.

This article presents some of these resources. The production and synthesis of knowledge made available in a timely manner to professionals on the frontline of response to COVID-19 is essential and a basic requirement for improving response capacity. It is also important to strengthen and increase investment in the production of scientific evidence, and to recognize and build upon the tireless work of a large group of scientists and institutions that continue to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic.This report proposes a conceptual model on workplace environment and working conditions that integrates the available evidence to facilitate the design and evaluation of interventions aimed at improving the attraction, recruitment and retention of health personnel at the first level of care in rural and remote areas. Theoretical, empirical and testimonial evidence was consulted to support the model, and 15 frameworks disseminated in the last 20 years were synthesized. The article shows the diversity of perspectives and the complexity involved in establishing the dimensions to be considered in a proposal that is useful to apply to human resources for health policies.The proposed model includes four categories of components factors of the external context, organizational factors, employment and work conditions, and individual factors. The boundaries between the components -as well as the weight and influence of each one- vary according to the interrelationship among them and the interaction with the environment, and thus its interpretation must be adapted to the context in which it is intended to be applied.Based on this conceptual model, the design and evaluation of interventions aimed at increasing the availability of health personnel -particularly at the primary care level in rural and remote areas of the Region of the Americas- should emerge from an interaction between health and employment policies, and the realities and expectations of workers and the communities.
Chronic urticaria is a complex disease process in which chronic spontaneous urticaria (CSU) and chronic inducible urticaria are distinguished. Its etiopathogenesis still remains unknown. Some recent studies indicated a significant participation of vitamin D in the etiopathogenesis of urticaria. In 40-50% of patients with CSU on the basis of the positive result of the autologous serum skin test (ASST), autoimmunological background of the disease is diagnosed. Moreover, numerous test results confirm involvement of the coagulation system/fibrinolysis and non-infectious inflammatory factors in the pathophysiology of CSU.
To determine whether some factors may play a role in pathogenesis and contribute to the severity of chronic spontaneous urticaria.
One hundred and forty-two patients with diagnosed CSU were enrolled in the study. The activity of urticaria was assessed using the UAS-7 (Urticaria Activity Score). The study participants were divided into 4 groups depending on the UAS-7. ASST was performed and blood was collected to determine the biomarkers (CRP, vitamin D, D-dimers, fibrinogen, MPV, PLT).
Statistical analysis was performed using Statistica 13. A statistically significant difference between groups with various activity of urticaria in D-dimer concentration average values (
< 0.05) was observed. Moreover, a statistically significant negative correlation between activity of urticaria and vitamin D concentration (
< 0.001) was noted.

Haemangioma, one of the most common benign neoplasms of early childhood, is a significant clinical problem due to cosmetic reasons but also because of possible health complications.
Presentation of the method and results of treatment of infantile haemangiomas (IHs) using propranolol in a maximum dose of 3 mg/kg/day.
In 2013 to 2018 there were 108 patients with IHs multidisciplinary diagnosed and treated. 77 of them were girls and 31 were boys; all were between the ages of 2 and 21 months (mean 6.87 months). Lesions were most often located in the head region (
= 73). The main imaging study assessing the arteriovenous flow was USG, which was used to assess the size of haemangioma and its regression or progression. Also, coagulation parameters were analysed using laboratory tests.
Reduction of lesions occurred in 103 of 108 patients, which results in a percentage score above 95. In 19 patients, after completion of treatment, there were abnormalities of coagulation in laboratory tests whereas before the treatment, these abnormalities occurred in 82 patients.

It is also important to strengthen and increase investment in the production of scientific evidence, and to recognize and build upon the tireless work of a large group of scientists and institutions that continue to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic.This report proposes a conceptual model on workplace environment and working conditions that integrates the available evidence to facilitate the design and evaluation of interventions aimed at improving the attraction, recruitment and retention of health personnel at the first level of care in rural and remote areas. Theoretical, empirical and testimonial evidence was consulted to support the model, and 15 frameworks disseminated in the last 20 years were synthesized. The article shows the diversity of perspectives and the complexity involved in establishing the dimensions to be considered in a proposal that is useful to apply to human resources for health policies.The proposed model includes four categories of components factors of the external context, organizational factors, employment and work conditions, and individual factors. The boundaries between the components -as well as the weight and influence of each one- vary according to the interrelationship among them and the interaction with the environment, and thus its interpretation must be adapted to the context in which it is intended to be applied.Based on this conceptual model, the design and evaluation of interventions aimed at increasing the availability of health personnel -particularly at the primary care level in rural and remote areas of the Region of the Americas- should emerge from an interaction between health and employment policies, and the realities and expectations of workers and the communities. Chronic urticaria is a complex disease process in which chronic spontaneous urticaria (CSU) and chronic inducible urticaria are distinguished. Its etiopathogenesis still remains unknown. Some recent studies indicated a significant participation of vitamin D in the etiopathogenesis of urticaria. In 40-50% of patients with CSU on the basis of the positive result of the autologous serum skin test (ASST), autoimmunological background of the disease is diagnosed. Moreover, numerous test results confirm involvement of the coagulation system/fibrinolysis and non-infectious inflammatory factors in the pathophysiology of CSU. To determine whether some factors may play a role in pathogenesis and contribute to the severity of chronic spontaneous urticaria. One hundred and forty-two patients with diagnosed CSU were enrolled in the study. The activity of urticaria was assessed using the UAS-7 (Urticaria Activity Score). The study participants were divided into 4 groups depending on the UAS-7. ASST was performed and blood was collected to determine the biomarkers (CRP, vitamin D, D-dimers, fibrinogen, MPV, PLT). A statistically significant difference between groups with various activity of urticaria in D-dimer concentration average values ( < 0.05) was observed. Presentation of the method and results of treatment of infantile haemangiomas (IHs) using propranolol in a maximum dose of 3 mg/kg/day. In 2013 to 2018 there were 108 patients with IHs multidisciplinary diagnosed and treated. 77 of them were girls and 31 were boys; all were between the ages of 2 and 21 months (mean 6.87 months). Lesions were most often located in the head region ( = 73). The main imaging study assessing the arteriovenous flow was USG, which was used to assess the size of haemangioma and its regression or progression. As a result, we argue that the deficits in visual memory deficit amnesia continue to distinguish it from amnesia after direct damage to the hippocampus.Unravelling the biological processes driving tumour resistance is necessary to support the development of innovative treatment strategies. We report the design and feasibility of the MATCH-R prospective trial led by Gustave Roussy with the primary objective of characterizing the molecular mechanisms of resistance to cancer treatments. The primary clinical endpoints consist of analyzing the type and frequency of molecular alterations in resistant tumours and compare these to samples prior to treatment. Patients experiencing disease progression after an initial partial response or stable disease for at least 24 weeks underwent a tumour biopsy guided by CT or ultrasound. Molecular profiling of tumours was performed using whole exome sequencing, RNA sequencing and panel sequencing. At data cut-off for feasibility analysis, out of 333 inclusions, tumour biopsies were obtained in 303 cases (91%). From these biopsies, 278 (83%) had sufficient quality for analysis by high-throughput next generation sequencing (NGS). All 278 samples underwent targeted NGS, 215 (70.9%) RNA sequencing and 222 (73.2%) whole exome sequencing. In total, 163 tumours were implanted in NOD scid gamma (NSG) or nude **** and 54 patient-derived xenograft (PDX) models were established, with a success rate of 33%. Adverse events secondary to invasive tumour sampling occurred in 24 patients (7.6%). Study recruitment is still ongoing. Systematic molecular profiling of tumours and the development of patient-derived models of acquired resistance to targeted agents and immunotherapy is feasible and can drive the selection of the next therapeutic strategy.

The empirical evidence on the growth effects of import tariffs is sparse in the literature, notwithstanding strong views held by the public and politicians. Using an annual panel of macroeconomic data for 151 countries over 1963-2014, we find that tariff increases are associated with an economically and statistically sizeable and persistent decline in output growth. Thus, fears that the ongoing trade war may be costly for the world economy in terms of foregone output growth are justified.Increasingly serious environmental problems have generated a large number of small and medium-sized green innovative enterprises. Against the background of rapid technological changes and increasingly fierce market competition, survival is the main problem faced by these enterprises. Exploring the mechanisms and core elements that determine the survival of green innovation enterprises is of great practical significance for improving the survival probability of green innovation enterprises and achieving environmental improvement through green innovation. In this paper, twenty-nine enterprises that have won the title of "Top 10 Green Innovative Enterprises" in China are considered the research objects, and the fuzzy set qualitative comparative analysis (fsQCA) method is used to examine the path combinations that affect the survival of enterprises from the perspectives of resource-based and dynamic capabilities. The findings are as follows. First, government support is key to the survival of green innovative enterprises; second, China's green innovative enterprises have a research and development dilemma, and only matching high R&D capacity with product competitiveness can enhance their survival capabilities; and third, the lack of resource base capacity is the key factor affecting the failure of green enterprises, and dynamic capacity is the key factor for the survival of green innovative enterprises. The main contribution of this paper to the field of management is that enterprises must always pay attention to the coordinated development of internal resource-based capability and external dynamic capability. Conversely, the Chinese government should provide high R&D support to enterprises with competitive products so that these enterprises can rapidly grow into leading enterprises through continuous innovation and drive the sustained and rapid development of China's green innovation industry.Indeed, the scientific milestones set by the ever-emerging three-dimensional printing (3DP) technologies are tremendous. Till now, the innovative 3DP technologies have benefitted the aerospace, automobile, textile, pharmaceutical, and biomedical sectors by developing pre-requisite designed and customized performance standards of the end-user products. As the scientific world, at this moment, is expediting efforts to fight against the highly damaging novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the 3DP technologies are facilitating creative solutions in terms of personal protective equipment (PPE), medical equipment (such as ventilators and other respiratory devices), and other health and welfare tools to aid the personal hygiene as well as safe environment for humans by restricting the communication of risks. #link# Various sources (including journal articles, news articles, white papers of the government and other non-profit organizations, commercial enterprises, as well as academic institutions have been reviewed for the collection of the information relevant to COVID-19 and 3DP. This communication presents the recent applications of the 3DP technologies aiding in developing innovative products designed to save the lives of millions of people around the world. Moreover, the potential of 3DP technologies in developing test swabs and controlled medicines has been highlighted. The literature reviewed in the present study indicated that the fused filament fabrication (FFF) is one of the most preferred technologies and contribute about 62% in the overall production of the protective gears developed through overall class of 3DP.Despite the prevalent use of savings messages (e.g., "get $x off" and "save $x"), no previous tourism and hospitality research has examined their effect on consumer responses. To fill that void, this study investigates the joint effect of savings message type (gain-framed vs. nonloss-framed) and weather conditions (sunny vs. rainy) on consumer attitude. The results show that individuals in rainy weather respond more favorably to a gain-framed (vs. nonloss-framed) message, and this effect is attenuated among people in sunny weather. Furthermore, this study reveals a boundary condition. When the amount of savings is presented in percentage terms (e.g., "get x% off" and "save x%"), the superiority of a gain frame disappears. Tourism demand is positively correlated with growth and resilience but a high share of tourism within regional employment has negative impacts on both. Specialisation patterns combining tourism with agriculture have positive effects in both cases. Diversification strategies including unrelated sectors contribute to increased resilience in these regions, and a prioritisation of construction reduces regional resilience.

Little evidence exists regarding the clinical value of synbiotics in the management of post-treatment complications of breast cancer especially breast cancer-related lymphedema (BCRL). This study aimed to investigate the effects of synbiotic supplementation along with calorie restriction on quality of life and edema volume in patients with BCRL.
This randomized, placebo-controlled, clinical trial was conducted on 135 overweight and obese women with BCRL aged 18-65 years old. Participants were randomly allocated to receive a calorie-restricted diet plus 10
CFU synbiotic supplement (CRS group; n=45) or placebo (CRP group; n=45), daily for 10 weeks. Also, a control group (n=45) with no intervention was included in the trial. All of the participants received Complete Decongestive Therapy for lymphedema treatment. The quality of life score, edema volume and body mass index (BMI) were measured at baseline and end of the trial.
A total of 121 subjects completed the trial. CRS group showed a significant decrease in the total quality of life score (P=0.004), and it's psychosocial (P=0.022) and functional (P=0.002) domain scores, as well as edema volume (P=0.002) and BMI (P<0.001) in comparison to the control. However, there were no significant differences in changes in trial outcomes between the CRS and CRP groups.
Synbiotic supplementation along with a low-calorie diet was effective in quality of life, edema volume, and BMI improvement; mostly due to low-calorie diet. It seems that adding a dietitian consultation on the lymphedema management strategy may provide a better result in lymphedema control.

It seems that adding a dietitian consultation on the lymphedema management strategy may provide a better result in lymphedema control.The aim of this study was to analyse if breast cancer survivors without other breast imaging surveillance attend population-based screening differently than women not previously diagnosed with breast cancer. Further, to analyse if any differences depended on the women's age and years since previous cancer diagnosis. The study was a register-based retrospective cohort study of all women invited to participate in the national breast cancer screening programme in 2015-2016. Participation rates were calculated for breast cancer survivors without breast imaging within 21 months (2-4 years, 4-6 years, 6-10 years and more than 10 years after diagnosis) and for women without previous breast cancer. Relative differences in participation rates between the two groups were calculated. A total of 679,990 women were included in the study (2.6% breast cancer survivors). For breast cancer survivors, participation rates increased with increasing number of years since the previous cancer diagnosis peaking at 80.3% if the cancer diagnosis was more than 10 years ago. For women with no previous breast cancer, participation rate was 80.3%. The relative difference in participation was highest close to the breast cancer diagnosis and for the youngest women participation rates remained lower among breast cancer survivors even more than 10 years after the diagnosis. In conclusion, regardless of age and years since previous breast cancer diagnosis, breast cancer survivors had lower or similar participation rates than women with no previous cancer diagnosis. This indicated that as many as one fifth of the breast cancer survivors are at risk of inadequate surveillance.The Argentine Atlantic coast constitutes an extensive area where numerous wetlands develop under humid, semi-arid and arid conditions, in which there are also variations in relation to tidal influence with estuarine, mixing and marine areas. The aim of this work is to conduct a comparative study on the processes controlling the groundwater salinity in medium to high latitudinal coastal wetlands of four natural reserves with contrasting hydrological and climatic conditions. In each study area a monitoring network was established where the content of CO32-, HCO3-, Cl-, SO42-, Ca2+, Mg2+, Na+, K+, δ2H and δ18O of the water were determined. The results show a saline groundwater increase along a latitudinal gradient with electrical conductivities varying from 0.3 mS/cm at 34°47' S to 154 mS/cm at 42° 25' S. The results obtained show that the ionic contents in groundwater are partially controlled by the salinity of the tidal flood water whose electrical conductivity varies from 0.3 mS/cm in the Río de la Plata estuary to 52 mS/cm in the sea water of the southern study area. In the southern wetlands, where an increase of aridity is also registered, there is a clear increase in groundwater ionic concentrations, which occurs without isotopic enrichment indicating processes of salts dissolution of the sediments. The evaporites precipitation occurs due to the total evaporation of the tidal water that floods the wetlands in spring high tides. The salinization of groundwater responds to natural processes inherent to the hydrological, climatic and lithological characteristics of each wetland. #link# Given that the areas studied correspond to natural reserves, the results generate databases that will allow the identification of future changes in salinity associated with anthropic influences or changes in hydrological and/or climatic conditions as a result of climate change.The fungus Penicillium citrinum WXP-2 and the bacterium Citrobacter freundii WXP-9 were isolated and found to have poor denitrification performance. Nitrogen balance analysis showed that excess degraded NO3--N was primarily converted to N2 (77.53%). Little evidence exists regarding the clinical value of synbiotics in the management of post-treatment complications of breast cancer especially breast cancer-related lymphedema (BCRL). This study aimed to investigate the effects of synbiotic supplementation along with calorie restriction on quality of life and edema volume in patients with BCRL. This randomized, placebo-controlled, clinical trial was conducted on 135 overweight and obese women with BCRL aged 18-65 years old. Participants were randomly allocated to receive a calorie-restricted diet plus 10 CFU synbiotic supplement (CRS group; n=45) or placebo (CRP group; n=45), daily for 10 weeks. Also, a control group (n=45) with no intervention was included in the trial. All of the participants received Complete Decongestive Therapy for lymphedema treatment. The quality of life score, edema volume and body mass index (BMI) were measured at baseline and end of the trial. A total of 121 subjects completed the trial. CRS group showed a significant decrease in the total quality of life score (P=0.004), and it's psychosocial (P=0.022) and functional (P=0.002) domain scores, as well as edema volume (P=0.002) and BMI (P<0.001) in comparison to the control. However, there were no significant differences in changes in trial outcomes between the CRS and CRP groups. Synbiotic supplementation along with a low-calorie diet was effective in quality of life, edema volume, and BMI improvement; mostly due to low-calorie diet. Escherichia coli strain K-12 MG1655 has been proposed as an appropriate host strain for industrial production. However, the direct application of this strain suffers from the transformation inefficiency and plasmid instability. Herein, we conducted genetic modifications at a serial of loci of MG1655 genome, generating a robust and universal host strain JW128 with higher transformation efficiency and plasmid stability that can be used to efficiently produce desired chemicals after introducing the corresponding synthetic pathways. Using JW128 as the host, the titer of isobutanol reached 5.76 g/L in shake-flask fermentation, and the titer of lycopene reached 1.91 g/L in test-tube fermentation, 40-fold and 5-fold higher than that of original MG1655, respectively. Data regarding sampling location, sex, age, breed, use, presence or absence of ticks were recorded. Blood smears were prepared, stained with Geimsa stain, and examined under light microscope for Babesia sp. The results showed an overall prevalence of 10.8% Babesia canis infection. The prevalence among dogs examined in the six Area Councils were babesiosis in the FCT was significantly dependent on age, use of dogs, tick infestation, and season. Therefore, priorities should be given to these factors while instituting control measures against the infection.

Pleuroparenchymal fibroelastosis (PPFE) is a rare idiopathic interstitial pneumonia characterized by predominantly upper lobe involvement with pleural fibrosis and subjacent parenchymal fibrosis. Recently, there have been increasing reports of PPFE, and PPFE might coexist with other interstitial lung diseases in the lower lobe and upper lobe. However, cases of unilateral PPFE are scarce.
A 75-year-old Korean male presented to our hospital with chronic dry cough and exertional dyspnea. The patient's symptoms started 6 mo previously and had been gradually worsening. At the time of presentation, he felt dyspnea when walking at his own pace. Radiologic findings suggested PPFE, but the lesion was localized in the upper lobe of the right lung. After multidisciplinary discussion, a transbronchial lung biopsy in the right upper lobe revealed collapsed alveoli with parenchymal fibroelastosis, and elastic van Gieson staining demonstrated septal elastosis with intra-alveolar collagenosis, which met the histopathologic criteria of definite PPFE. After multidisciplinary discussion in an experienced interstitial lung disease center, we confirmed the diagnosis of unilateral PPFE. Furthermore, we confirmed the progression of PPFE on radiologic findings during the follow-up period.
Clinicians should consider PPFE, even in cases with unilateral, predominantly upper lung involvement in interstitial lung disease patients through multidisciplinary discussion.

Neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy (NACRT) has not been accepted as a general therapy for gastric cancer because of its localized effect and toxicity for radiosensitive organs. However, if radiation therapy could compensate for the limited or inadequate treatment choices available for elderly patients and/or those at high risk, the available therapeutic options for advanced gastric cancer might increase. From this perspective, we present our experiences of five patients with advanced gastric cancer in whom we used NACRT therapy with interesting results.
We admitted five patients with clinical Stage III gastric cancer and bulky lymph node metastasis or adjacent organ invasion at the time of diagnosis. A total of 50 Gy of preoperative intensity modulated radiation therapy was delivered to the patients in doses of 2.0 Gy/d, together with a regimen of concomitant chemotherapy comprising two courses of oral tegafur/gimeracil/oteracil (S-1; 65 mg/m
per day) for three consecutive weeks followed by two weeks of rest, starting at the same time as radiotherapy. All patients underwent no residual tumor resection and a pathological complete response of the primary tumors was achieved in two patients. #link# The incidence of hematological toxicity was low, although the digestive toxicities of anorexia and diarrhea developed in three of the five patients, necessitating termination of radiation therapy at 30 Gy and S-1 at three weeks. However, even 30 Gy of irradiation and half the dose of S-1 resulted in sufficient downstaging, indicating that even a reduced amount of NACRT could confer considerable effects.

The fasting tests and imaging methods performed at local hospitals were evaluated as negative for abnormal results. However, brown adipose tissue exhibited increased metabolic activity, and some muscle groups had histological changes as indicated by positron emission tomography with 2-deoxy-2-[fluorine-18]fluoro-D-glucose integrated with computed tomography. Glycogen deficiency was also histologically confirmed. The patient's symptoms progressed over the years and occurred more frequently,

We report a case of a patient with ulcerative colitis controlled under mesalazine treatment who presented with chronic cough and hemoptysis. Chest computed tomography and bronchoscopy findings supported tracheal involvement in ulcerative colitis; pathology examination demonstrated an unusual eosinophil-rich inflammatory pattern, and together with clinical data, a nonasthmatic eosinophilic bronchitis diagnosis was formulated. Full recovery was observed within days of mesalazine discontinuation.

Pleuroparenchymal fibroelastosis (PPFE) is a rare idiopathic interstitial pneumonia characterized by predominantly upper lobe involvement with pleural fibrosis and subjacent parenchymal fibrosis. Recently, there have been increasing reports of PPFE, and PPFE might coexist with other interstitial lung diseases in the lower lobe and upper lobe. However, cases of unilateral PPFE are scarce. A 75-year-old Korean male presented to our hospital with chronic dry cough and exertional dyspnea. The patient's symptoms started 6 mo previously and had been gradually worsening. At the time of presentation, he felt dyspnea when walking at his own pace. Radiologic findings suggested PPFE, but the lesion was localized in the upper lobe of the right lung. After multidisciplinary discussion, a transbronchial lung biopsy in the right upper lobe revealed collapsed alveoli with parenchymal fibroelastosis, and elastic van Gieson staining demonstrated septal elastosis with intra-alveolar collagenosis, which met the histopathologic criteria of definite PPFE. After multidisciplinary discussion in an experienced interstitial lung disease center, we confirmed the diagnosis of unilateral PPFE. Furthermore, we confirmed the progression of PPFE on radiologic findings during the follow-up period. Neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy (NACRT) has not been accepted as a general therapy for gastric cancer because of its localized effect and toxicity for radiosensitive organs. However, if radiation therapy could compensate for the limited or inadequate treatment choices available for elderly patients and/or those at high risk, the available therapeutic options for advanced gastric cancer might increase. From this perspective, we present our experiences of five patients with advanced gastric cancer in whom we used NACRT therapy with interesting results. We admitted five patients with clinical Stage III gastric cancer and bulky lymph node metastasis or adjacent organ invasion at the time of diagnosis. A total of 50 Gy of preoperative intensity modulated radiation therapy was delivered to the patients in doses of 2.0 Gy/d, together with a regimen of concomitant chemotherapy comprising two courses of oral tegafur/gimeracil/oteracil (S-1; 65 mg/m per day) for three consecutive weeks followed by two weeks of rest, starting at the same time as radiotherapy.
