Results indicated binding of bovine antibodies to fifteen buffalo cytokine/chemokine targets. Moreover, there was a significant difference in concentrations between unstimulated and TB antigen-stimulated buffalo samples for seven cytokines/chemokines included in the kit. Although these preliminary results require further investigation in larger sample sets and a comparison between M. bovis-infected and uninfected cohorts, the utility of the MILLIPLEX® platform in a novel species was demonstrated, in addition to identifying potential African buffalo cytokines for future research.

    Participants were presented with an audio contextual cue followed by images of threatening (angry/fearful) and neutral facial expressions from similarly aged peers. Three conditions differed in audio-image pairing neutral context-neutral expression (neutral condition), negative context-threatening expression (threat condition), and reappraisal context-threatening expression (reappraisal condition). These conditions reflected social stimuli that are ecologically valid to the everyday life of children.

    P100, N170, and late positive potential (LPP) ERP components were elicited over parietal and occipital electrodes. The threat condition elicited an increased LPP mean amplitude compared to the neutral condition across our participants, suggesting increased emotional reactivity to threatening facial expressions. In addition, LPP amplitude decreased during the reappraisal condition- evidence of emotion regulation. No group differences were observed in the mean amplitude of ERP components between children who do and do not stutter. Furthermore, dimensions of childhood temperament and stuttering severity were not strongly correlated with LPP elicitation.

A qualitative study based upon a focus group interview was conducted with six former Presidents and one present President of the Florence Network, each with a tenure of two years. The study explored the impact of the Florence Network in advancing cultural awareness and promoting educational, research and professional synergies. The outcome of the study identified that from the Presidents perspectives networks create awareness of cultural diversity, enable the delivery of multicultural nursing care and develop future leaders regarding global health-related issues. Furthermore, professional networks contribute to the refining of educational curricula, in developing applicable research evidence, and in sharing formal and informal professional knowledge.Nurses should be culturally competent to care appropriately to all patient groups. Whilst there are many opportunities to obtain clinical experiences, there are less curriculum-based opportunities to develop cultural competencies. This multiple cross-sectional study aimed to explore the development of intercultural awareness, knowledge, and competence in two different nursing students' groups (2016 and 2017 program edition) during a one-week study abroad program hosted by a European network of 14 higher education institutions. A questionnaire was designed specifically for the study and reliability established. Factor analysis confirmed three dimensions perceived benefits, satisfaction, and acquisition of learning outcomes. Fifty-eight students (71.6%) completed the questionnaire for the April 2016 group, and 60 (88.2%) from the April 2017 group. There were minimal differences in responses between the two groups which suggested perceived benefits were retained one year later. Ratings were high for perceived satisfaction, perceived benefits; and the learning outcomes with regard to cultural competencies.

  • The results of this assessment showed a reduction of non-cancer and cancer risk estimates by more than 90 % for the HTP versus the 3R4F cigarette, regardless of the smoking regime.Schistosomose mansoni is an endemic disease in Brazil. It rarely affects the central nervous system, particularly in children. We report the case of a child that presented with an acute spinal cord compression condition, resulting from a mass that proved to be a granuloma caused by a Schistosoma mansoni infection. Proper treatment had no effect on the regression of urological symptoms and the child had to undergo a Mitrofanoff principle.Variants in Phosphomannomutase 2 (PMM2) lead to PMM2-CDG, the most frequent congenital disorder of glycosylation (CDG). We here describe the disease course of a ten-month old patient who presented with the classical PMM2-CDG symptoms as cerebellar hypoplasia, retinitis pigmentosa, seizures, short stature, hepato- and splenomegaly, anaemia, recurrent vomiting and inverted mamillae. A severe form of tetralogy of Fallot was diagnosed and corrective surgery was performed at the age of 10 months. At the end of the cardiopulmonary bypass, a sudden oedematous reaction of the myocardium accompanied by biventricular pump failure was observed immediately after heparin antagonization with protamine sulfate. The patient died seven days after surgery, since myocardial function did not recover on ECMO support. We here describe the first patient carrying the homozygous variant g.18313A > T in the PMM2 gene (NG_009209.1) that either can lead to c.394A > T (p.I132F) or even loss of 100 bp due to exon 5 skipping (c.348_447del; p.G117Rfs*4) which is comparable to a null allele. Proliferation and doubling time of the patient's fibroblasts were affected. In addition, we show that the induction of cellular stress by elevating the cell culture temperature to 40 °C led to a decrease of the patients' PMM2 transcript as well as PMM2 protein levels and subsequently to a significant loss of residual activity. We assume that metabolic stressful processes occurring after cardiac surgery led to the drop of the patient's PMM activity below a life-sustaining niveau which paved the way for the fatal outcome.Pasteurella pneumotropica is an important bacterial pathogen in both animals and humans. Most reported Pasteurella infections in humans involve skin and soft tissues, often after an animal bite, scratch, or lick to an open wound. We report a case of septic arthritis with Pasteurella pneumotropica in a diabetic and cardiopathic patient who was the victim of a rat bite in the street, with a good evolution after medical and surgical treatment.We present the case of a 59-year-old Midwestern farmer who presented with altered mental status, dysarthria, urinary incontinence, and a right-sided L5 dermatomal rash; he had recently received a course of oral corticosteroids for treatment of radicular low **** pain. Lumbar puncture revealed the presence of varicella zoster virus (VZV) and IgM antibodies against a California-group encephalitis virus, later confirmed as Jamestown Canyon virus (JCV). Unfortunately, the patient's health declined despite aggressive treatment, developing progressive subarachnoid hemorrhage. The morphological findings indicate that Dictyocaulus lungworms of European bison can be distinguished from those of cattle on the basis of differences in buccal capsule wall length, total body length, and spicules length in males, all of which were significantly longer in those of European bison. Nucleotide diversity calculated from pairwise sequence alignments of partial cytochrome c oxidase subunit 1 (cox1), cytochrome B (cytB) and NADH dehydrogenase subunit 5 (nad5) of specimens from cattle and European bison varied from 1.7% for nad5, 2.1% for cytB, to 3.7% for cox1 gene. Thus, among the lungworms of European bison and cattle, nad5 and cytB were the most conserved proteins, whereas cox1 was the most diverse. The mt cytB marker gene may be a suitable candidate for distinguishing between the two genotypes, as nad5 demonstrated the greatest within-genus sequence variation. The lung tissue of infected European bison manifests signs of verminous pneumonia characterized by interstitial pneumonia, bronchitis and bronchiolitis. Therefore, it appears that European bison and cattle are infected with slightly diverged, morphologically-different, genotypes of D. viviparus, indicating they belong to two separate worm populations. We propose, therefore, that the lungworm of European bison should be classified as D. viviparus subsp. bisontis.Haemosporidian parasites characterize multi-host and multi-parasite structures which are prevalent among wild bird populations. The prevalence of Plasmodium, Haemoproteus, and Leucocytozoon were documented as 1.21%, 3.65%, and 0.4%, respectively. Of 36 birds' species inspected in this investigation, 13 individuals of 9 species were parasitized by blood parasites. To our knowledge, five lineages including hANACRE03, hAYTFER01, hAYTFER02, hAQUCYR01, and hSTAL06 were found as un-described lineages, while six known lineages of hLK03, pLK05, lTUSW04, pSW5, hMILANS02, and hHAECOL1 were recorded in hosts within novel geographical regions.

    The purpose of this article was to determine if differences in kinematic and kinetic variables observed in a double-leg screen carried over to a single-leg task.

    We used a case-control design with grouping based on performance during a double-leg jump landing.

    All participants were selected from a large university setting and testing was performed in a biomechanics laboratory.

    Participants were females between 18 and 25 years of age with at least high school varsity experience in one or more of the following sports soccer, lacrosse, field hockey, rugby, basketball, or team handball.

    Primary outcome measures were knee angles in the frontal and sagittal planes as well as vertical ground reaction force (vGRF).

    There were significant between group differences in peak knee flexion and knee flexion displacement during both the double and single-leg tasks, however between group differences for peak knee valgus and knee valgus displacement noted in the double-leg task were not observed in the single-leg task. vGRF was significantly different in the single-leg task but not the double-leg task.

    Previous studies have shown fixed-dose 4PCC to be as effective as standard-dose 4PCC for warfarin reversal. However, certain patient populations such as those with high total body weight (TBW) or elevated baseline INR may be at increased risk for treatment failure. The purpose of this study was to validate the efficacy of a novel fixed-dose 4PCC protocol for warfarin reversal.

    This was a multi-centered observational comparison of patients who received 4PCC for warfarin reversal. Fixed-dose patients received 1500units of 4PCC with the dose increased to 2000units in patients with a baseline INR≥7.5, a TBW≥100kg, or for intracranial hemorrhage (ICH). Standard-dosing followed manufacturer recommendations. The primary outcome was achievement of a post-4PCC INR of ≤1.4. Secondary outcomes included target INR achievement among patients with a baseline INR≥7.5, a TBW≥100kg, or neurologic bleeding indications; hospital length of stay; cost of therapy; and thromboembolic complications.

    A total of 116 patients were included in the standard-dose group and 75 in the fixed-dose group. There was no difference in the primary outcome (65% vs 57%, p=0.32). There was no difference in secondary outcomes aside from cost of therapy in which fixed-dose 4PCC was less expensive than standard-dose 4PCC.

In this study, we used diffusion tensor imaging and graph theory methods to investigate the alterations of brain structural networks in 14 patients with AVMs in the presumed Broca's area, compared to 27 normal controls. Weighted brain structural networks were constructed based on deterministic tractography. We compared the topological properties and network connectivity between patients and normal controls. Functional magnetic resonance imaging revealed contralateral reorganization of Broca's area in five (35.7%) patients. Compared to normal controls, the patients exhibited preserved small-worldness of brain structural networks. However, AVM patients exhibited significantly decreased global efficiency (p = 0.004) and clustering coefficient (p = 0.014), along with decreased corresponding nodal properties in some remote brain regions (p less then 0.05, family-wise error corrected). Furthermore, structural connectivity was reduced in the right perisylvian regions but enhanced in the perifocal areas (p less then 0.05). The vulnerability of the left supramarginal gyrus was significantly increased (p = 0.039, corrected), and the bilateral putamina were added as hubs in the AVM patients. These alterations provide evidence for the long-range effects of AVMs on brain white matter networks. To tackle this problem, we propose two explainable adaptations to the traditional neural SLT models using optimized tokenization-related modules. First, we introduce a frame stream density compression (FSDC) algorithm for detecting and reducing the redundant similar frames, which effectively shortens the long sign sentences without losing information. Then, we replace the traditional encoder in a neural machine translation (NMT) module with an improved architecture, which incorporates a temporal convolution (T-Conv) unit and a dynamic hierarchical bidirectional GRU (DH-BiGRU) unit sequentially. The improved component takes the temporal tokenization information into consideration to extract deeper information with reasonable resource consumption.     A hospital-based retrospective medicine utilization analysis of Facility Electronic Stock Card (FESC) psychotropic medication was conducted at Intermediate Hospital Katutura over a 7 year period, 2011-2017. Data on consumption and expenditure on psychotropic medicines were abstracted from FESC and analysed using descriptive statistics in SPSS v22. The main outcomes were consumption rates, daily Defined Dose, (DDD) and/or expenditure.

    Of the 580 351,4 DDD of psychotropic medicines consumed, 84% were anti-psychotics, 9.2% anti-depressants and 6.8% anxiolytics. Anti-psychotics (48.8%) and anxiolytics (47.9%) had the highest consumption by cost relative to anti-depressants (3.3%). The most consumed antidepressants were imipramine (62%) by DDD and fluoxetine (55.8%) by cost. The most consumed anti-psychotics were chlorpromazine (74.6%) by DDD and haloperidol (68.4%) by cost respectively. Diazepam (79.4%) and hydroxyzine (94.2%) were most consumed sedative-hypnotics by DDD and cost respectively.

  • To report two cases of eyelash loss in Frontal Fibrosing Alopecia, providing microscopic description of the eyelashes and possible association with Demodex folliculorum.

    We present two cases of postmenopausal women diagnosed with frontal fibrosing alopecia who consulted the ophthalmology department for eyelid itching and eyelash loss. On examination, there were no signs of blepharitis, but loss of lashes was observed, and the remaining eyelashes detached easily from the eyelid. The eyelashes were examined microscopically. The bulbs were small and narrow, and the caliber of the lashes was irregular, with thinner and thicker areas. The pigment distribution was irregular; there were portions with greater or lesser accumulation. In the second case, clusters of Demodex folliculorum were observed near the eyelash root.

    This is the first microscopic description of eyelash loss in frontal fibrosing alopecia in the published literature. We describe small, narrow bulbs, irregular caliber of the eyelashes and irregular pigment distribution. In the second case, in which we found Demodex folliculorum infestation, there was eyelash loss even though the disease was not very advanced. We suggest that there might be an association whereby Demodex infestation might accelerate autoimmune inflammation, leading to premature eyelash loss.

    Population ageing poses a challenge for countries in preventing and detecting neurodegenerative disorders. The Montreal Cognitive Assessment (****), a short, simple, valid, and reliable screening test, assesses general cognitive status, and is useful in public health contexts. This study aims to normalise and standardise the **** test for the Chilean population.

    We performed a descriptive, correlational validation study of the **** test, using a sample including 526 healthy individuals of both sexes, aged between 18 and 90 years, from the north, centre, and south of Chile. We analysed the effects of age, education level, and sex on **** performance.

    Age and education level had a significant impact on general cognitive performance, as determined by **** score. Age, education, and sex account for 1-7% of variance. The mean (standard deviation) score for the total sample was 24.04 (3.22), whereas the normal range originally defined for the instrument is 26-30 points. Older adults with less formal education presented poorer results and lower cognitive performance. We propose a protocol for evaluating results by percentiles and scores for different age ranges, and an individual normalised scalar score.

The Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA), a short, simple, valid, and reliable screening test, assesses general cognitive status, and is useful in public health contexts. This study aims to normalise and standardise the MoCA test for the Chilean population. We performed a descriptive, correlational validation study of the MoCA test, using a sample including 526 healthy individuals of both sexes, aged between 18 and 90 years, from the north, centre, and south of Chile. We analysed the effects of age, education level, and sex on MoCA performance. Age and education level had a significant impact on general cognitive performance, as determined by MoCA score. Age, education, and sex account for 1-7% of variance. The mean (standard deviation) score for the total sample was 24.04 (3.22), whereas the normal range originally defined for the instrument is 26-30 points. Older adults with less formal education presented poorer results and lower cognitive performance. We propose a protocol for evaluating results by percentiles and scores for different age ranges, and an individual normalised scalar score. Steatosis is one of confounding factors which might decrease accuracy, and its effect on 2D-SWE.SSI is still controversial. Our purpose is to evaluate the diagnostic performance of 2D-SWE.SSI affected by different steatosis stages and pathological types in chronic hepatitis B (CHB) patients.

    2D-SWE.SSI was performed on 1306 CHB patients. All patients were divided into mild steatosis, moderate to severe steatosis, and non-steatosis groups. Subgroup analysis was performed according to pathological type. Liver biopsy was reference standard. Propensity score matching was performed to adjust for differences in patient characteristics.     Supine lumbar spine examinations underestimate body weight effects on neuroforaminal size. Therefore, our purpose was to evaluate size changes of the lumbar neuroforamina using supine and upright 3D tomography and to initially assess image quality compared with computed tomography (CT).

    The lumbar spines were prospectively scanned in 48 patients in upright (3D tomographic twin robotic X-ray) and supine (30 with 3D tomography, 18 with CT) position. Cross-sectional area (CSA), cranio-caudal (CC), and ventro-dorsal (VD) diameters of foramina were measured by two readers and additionally graded in relation to the intervertebral disc height. Visibility of bone/soft tissue structures and image quality were assessed independently on a 5-point Likert scale for the 18 patients scanned with both modalities. When we initially described the direct fascial puncture (DFP) technique, many suggested it was not practical for three reasons (1) increased hernia formation, (2) inability to complete operations without instrument changes and (3) insurmountable instrument drag. This study sought to determine whether the technique was a feasible approach by evaluating the outcomes with DFP-SILS in a single surgeon unit. Methods This was a retrospective audit of all consecutive patients who had unselected SILS operations by a single surgeon. For the DFP-SILS operation, a single optical trocar was used at the umbilicus, a second was rail-roaded beside the optical trocar and a third was directly passed across the fascia at the left-lateral extent of the skin wound. We recorded the number of conversions or failed operations and examined the patients routinely after operation to evaluate for incisional herniae. Results There were 50 DFP-SILS operations performed 37 cholecystectomies, 12 appendectomies and one jejunal resection. The operations were successful in all cases with no conversions or mortality recorded. One patient (2%) developed a superficial surgical site infection after SILS-DFP appendectomy. The therapeutic outcomes were comparable to existing series of multi-port laparoscopy. There were no incisional herniae detected. Conclusion Even in the resource-poor setting, SILS operations are feasible and safe using the DFP technique. The patient was treated with radical excision of the mass and a reverse sural fasciocutaneous flap to cover the remaining heel defect, with a very positive outcome and no complications. This case is presented due to the rarity of the squamous cell carcinoma of the heel, and its large size (14 x 8 cm) in a relatively young patient, especially when it is invading the calcaneus.Extragonadal teratomas in adults are an extremely rare entity. Teratomas may be mature or immature and are characterized by their midline presentation. We are presenting here a case report of immature teratoma of the palm in a 35-year-old female. The patient developed a recurrent swelling of the palm from which a wedge biopsy was taken and sent for histopathological examination. A diagnosis of "immature teratoma, grade 2" was made, whose margins were compromised. Later on ultrasonography (USG) abdomen and pelvis and whole-body magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) showed no significant findings ruling out the possibility of an occult primary. MRI palm showed a well-defined cystic lesion with loculations suggestive of teratoma. Re-exploration was advised to achieve free margins.Vascular malformations are being increasingly identified with associated syndromes caused by sporadically occurring, non-heritable somatic mutations. We present a case of a patient with DPN in both feet, in addition to low **** pain, who underwent a DRG-S trial with right T12 and S1 leads. The trial was performed unilaterally for seven days, allowing the patient to compare the treated versus the untreated (left) side. Pain, disability, general health status, and quality of life measures improved significantly. In addition to the significant pain relief in the low **** and feet, the patient had near resolution of other DPN-related symptoms, including numbness, bluish discoloration, and allodynia of both feet. He also demonstrated functional and psychological benefits with only a single-sided lead. Overall, the placement of unilateral T12 and S1 DRG-S leads resulted in symmetric improvement of DPN symptoms. A possible mechanism of action is antidromic propagation of action potential signaling into the sympathetic chain to a central ganglion and then to the contralateral sympathetic chain.   • The aim of the study was to study excessive daytime sleepiness (EDS) among the residents of Chuvashia. 2161 residents of the republic were interviewed (men - 1007, women - 1154) aged 18 to 70 (average - 36.5 ± 13.8 years old). Mathematical and statistical processing included descriptive statistics, one-way analysis of variance and calculation χ2-distribution. EDS was detected in 846 people (39.2%), without any gender difference and their place of residence. The respondents with EDS were older and had a larger body mass index. With age, the number of individuals with EDS rate increased, reaching the maximum in the age group of 61-70 years. EDS was more often observed in respondents with diseases, sleep disturbances, regular alcohol consumption, smokers, as well as snoring, respiratory arrest in sleep, increased blood pressure and/or treatment for it, and tiredness during the day. The probability of OSAS by NoSAS was determined in 295 people (13.7%), in 21.4% of men and 6.9% of women; EDS was present in 45.4% of the respondents with OSAS. In this regard, the goal of this study is to find organizational solutions to improve regular medical checkup service for NCD patients in the metropolitan healthcare system, relying on the data provided by medical organizations in the form of statistical observations. Thus, the results of correlation analysis have revealed a connection between the increased number of individuals in the second and third health groups and individuals scheduled for a regular medical checkup at the end of the year and its absence between the clinical examination results and the number of firstly diagnosed patients. It is also reported that the number of diseases registered for a regular medical checkup at the end of the reporting period (year) has increased, so patients with polymorbid conditions are supposed to prevail among the others on these days and require a special approach to their management. Taking into account the results obtained, possible ways for optimizing the organizational model of a regular medical checkup are the following special hours (days) for such patients admission, permanent cooperation of a doctor (local general practitioner, GP, family doctor) and a health worker with a secondary medical education (to deal with organizational issues), etc.

  • A novel internal circulation contact oxidation membrane bioreactor (ICCOMBR) was constructed to investigate a three steps startup strategy of single-stage partial nitritation-anammox (SPNA) system. A stable nitrite accumulation rate (NAR) of 86.60% was achieved with NH4+-N over 250 mg/L in nitritation process. The partial nitritation process could be effectively achieved by reducing the aeration rate (AR) by about 50% in the nitritation process, with an effluent NO2--N/NH4+-N ratio of 1.15 ± 0.04. The SPNA system was started up in 27 days following the inoculated anammox granular sludge. A total nitrogen removal efficiencies of 82% was achieved at a NLR of 0.60 gN/L/d and dissolved oxygen (DO) concentration below 0.55 mg/L. Anammox function genus (Ca.Kuenenia and Ca. Anammoximicrobium) abundance accounted for 20.77% in the biofilm, which is approximately equal to 22.2% in the suspended sludge. Nitrosomon as the dominant AOB genera, was detected in the biofilm (6.5%) and suspended sludge (13.3%).

    From January 30, 2020 to March 23, 2020, we conducted a non-randomised controlled trial, in which all adult patients with laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 were assigned to three groups non-randomly and given supportive treatments Group A, Lopinavir-Ritonavir; Group B, Huashi Baidu Formula (a Chinese medicineformula made by the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences to treat COVID-19, which is now in the clinical trial period) and Lopinavir-Ritonavir; and Group C, Huashi Baidu Formula. The use of antibiotics, antiviruses, and corticosteroids was permitted in Group A and B. Traditional Chinese medicine injections were permitted in Group C. The primary outcomes were clinical remission time (interval from admission to the first time the patient tested negatively for novel coronavirus or an obvious improvement was observed from chest CT) and clinical remission rate (number of patients whose clinical time was within 16 days/tned prospective double-blinded randomised control trials are required to confirm our findings.
    Our findings suggest that Lopinavir-Ritonavir has some efficacy in the treatment of COVID-19, and the Huashi Baidu Formula might enhance this effect to an extent. In addition, superiority was displayed in the treatment of COVID-19 through a combination of the Huashi Baidu Formula and traditional Chinese medicine injection. In future, well-designed prospective double-blinded randomised control trials are required to confirm our findings.

    Currently, self-directed learning (SDL) is emphasized in medical institutions all over the world. The skills of SDL enable one to be a lifelong learner, a necessity to cope up with fast-expanding medical knowledge.

    This study aims to develop and implement an "SDL" module for medical undergraduates and find out their perception about the same.

    A cross-sectional study using a mixed-method design (having both qualitative and quantitative components) was conducted in the Department of Community Medicine, UCMS, *****, India.

    A module was developed following an extensive literature review and focus group discussions with the teaching staff of the institute. First-semester undergraduate students were invited to participate in the study and asked for feedback using a semi-structured questionnaire.

    Quantitative data were expressed in mean, range, and frequency. For qualitative data, thematic analysis was performed.

    The module was implemented with 160 students, in November for 10 hour distributed over 5 weeks. Feedback could be obtained from 130 students. Sixty-seven percent of students were satisfied and 66% reported as motivated to study the allotted topic further. Qualitative analysis showed that though the students liked the learning process based on this module, they also felt facilitators could have been more active in imparting knowledge and skills.

    One of the serious issues in the field of children's social and mental health globally, is conduct disorder. Concerning the special problems of these children, their need for appropriate education seems vital. Thus, this study aimed to identify the educational deficiencies in the Iranian education system in terms of educating children with conduct disorder.

This research was performed on 23 individuals using a triangulation sampling technique and in-depth interviewing. The study subjects were children with conduct disorder, their parents, teachers, and social workers, and psychology experts. MAXQDA (version 12) software was used for data analysis in this study.

    The obtained data suggested that the deficits of the educational system in Iran are classified into four categories, including the lack of knowledge and skills of school staff, the lack of necessary workforce, the lack of appropriate hardware facilities, and the lack of coordination and cooperation between individuals and systems.

    The study employed a cross-sectional design and was conducted in six deputies supervised by the Alborz University of Medical Sciences, in 2019. The statistical population included all 302 employees were selected as the sample population according to the Cochran's formula. Using two researcher-made questionnaires of communication skills and HHR productivity, we assessed the role of communication skills in HHR productivity.

    According to the research findings, there were significant relationships between communication skilation skills for increase HHR productivity of employees and improved performance of health organizations.

The study's primary objective was to examine the necessary skills of the hospital managers and their capabilities to manage the challenges in providing health care facilities to their patients and employees.

    This study is a qualitative that deep interviews were performed with 22 managers (senior and middle managers) of educational hospitals of Kermanshah city, and the sample size was 22 individuals. The interviews were analyzed by a MAXQDA software application after transcription.

    This study includes 8 themes and 23 subthemes. The strategic skill, the perceptive skill, the human relations skill, work experience, and personal characteristics were among the ss, decision-makers and policy-makers must think twice when selecting and appointing hospital managers and evaluate and appraise this group in terms of abilities and skills necessary for managing such an important service section.

Data were collected by four researcher-made questionnaires based on the CIPP model and evaluation checklist of facilities and equipment. The view of experts was used to measure the face validity and content validity of the questionnaire, and Cronbach's alpha coefficient was used to determine reliability. Data were entered into SPSS 23 software, and data were provided using descriptive statistics (frequency, mean, and standard deviation).

The skills of SDL enable one to be a lifelong learner, a necessity to cope up with fast-expanding medical knowledge. This study aims to develop and implement an "SDL" module for medical undergraduates and find out their perception about the same. A cross-sectional study using a mixed-method design (having both qualitative and quantitative components) was conducted in the Department of Community Medicine, UCMS, Delhi, India. A module was developed following an extensive literature review and focus group discussions with the teaching staff of the institute. First-semester undergraduate students were invited to participate in the study and asked for feedback using a semi-structured questionnaire. Quantitative data were expressed in mean, range, and frequency. For qualitative data, thematic analysis was performed. The module was implemented with 160 students, in November for 10 hour distributed over 5 weeks. Feedback could be obtained from 130 students. Sixty-seven percent of students were satisfied and 66% reported as motivated to study the allotted topic further. Qualitative analysis showed that though the students liked the learning process based on this module, they also felt facilitators could have been more active in imparting knowledge and skills. Concerning the special problems of these children, their need for appropriate education seems vital. Thus, this study aimed to identify the educational deficiencies in the Iranian education system in terms of educating children with conduct disorder. Studies examining the utility of miRs for colon cancer screening have primarily been performed in ethnically homogeneous groups of patients, thus the performance of miRs in multiethnic populations is unknown.

    Four miRs were selected that were shown to be aberrantly expressed in the blood or stool of patients with colorectal cancer (CRC) of various ethnicities. In this study, the ability of these miRs to discern early stage CRC was determined in a previously untested multiethnic population of 73 CRC cases and 18 controls.

    The ratios of non-vesicular to extracellular vesicular levels of miR's -21, -29a, and -92a were statistically and quantitatively related to CRC stage compared to controls.

    It is noteworthy that several animal species are known to withstand high levels of radiation, and are exposed to heavy metals but rarely been reported to develop cancer. For example, the scorpion has been used as folk medicine in ancient civilizations of Iran and China, while amphibian skin is known to possess medicinal properties. Here, we elucidated the anti-tumour activity of the scorpion (Uropygi) and frog (Lithobates catesbeianus).

    Animals were procured and their organ lysates and sera were prepared and tested against Michigan Cancer Foundation-7 breast cancer (MCF-7), prostate cancer (PC3), Henrietta Lacks cervical cancer (HeLa), and normal human keratinocyte cells. Exoskeleton, appendages and hepatopancreas were dissected from the scorpion, whereas liver, lungs, heart, oviduct, gastrointestinal tract, gall bladder, kidneys, eggs and sera were collected from frog and organ lysates/sera were prepared. Growth inhibition assays and cytotoxicity assays were performed.

    The expression of HER-2neu and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in patients with osteosarcoma may determine the response to treatment. These two factors are likely to be effective in cancer progression. This study aimed at investigating the prevalence of these two factors in the pathological samples.

    Pathological samples of patients with osteosarcoma collected at a cancer surgery center between 2017 and 2018 were evaluated, of which 37 samples were included. The samples were evaluated using the IHC technique by two pathologists.

    For Arabian traditional medicine, Crataegus aronia syn. Azarolus (L) Bosc. ex DC (Rosaceae) is widely used to treat diabetes, sexual weakness, cardiovascular diseases and cancer. The anti-cancerous and anti-hemolysis effects of the hydroalcoholic extract of this plant have never been investigated before. The present study aims to evaluate the biological activities of the hydroalcoholic extract of Crataegus aronia leaves in combination with cisplatin, one of the most widely employed chemotherapeutics, on A549 human lung cancer cell line.

    The anti-oxidant and anti-proliferative activities of leaves, fruits, seeds of C. aronia were investigated by DPPH method and MTT assay; respectively. Cell migration activity was investigated by wound healing and by cell aggregation assays. The effect of C. aronia in inducing cell cycle arrest along with activating cell apoptosis was evaluated by flow cytometry and Western blot assays, respectively.

    Our results showed that C. aronia leaves (C. aronia L.) had the highest anti-oxidant and anti-proliferative activities. The leaves extract was potent against hemolysis of the human erythrocytes and showed elevated decrease in migration by reducing wound healing migration and by increasing cell aggregation. Finally, C. aronia L. treatment exhibited apoptotic activity on A549 cells by the down-regulation of PARP-1, caspase-3 and Bcl-2 proteins and by increasing the percentage of A549 cells in sub G0 cell cycle. Moreover, the co-treatment of C. aronia L. and cisplatin remarkably sensitised A549 cells to cisplatin.
