    This study evaluated student satisfaction with an educational exercise using feature films to learn about performing a psychiatric mental status examination.

    Following the completion of an educational exercise designed by the first author, students in a behavioral medicine course completed surveys regarding their satisfaction with the exercise as a tool for learning how to perform a mental status examination. The educational exercise involved an initial didactic lecture followed by group exercises and individual presentations, utilizing feature films as tools for understanding the mental status examination. Each student selected a movie depicting a character with a psychiatric or substance-use disorder and performed a hypothetical mental status examination for the character, which they presented to their classmates.

    One hundred nine (109) students (97.3%) in the course completed evaluations of the educational exercise, and the majority found the exercise valuable; 93.6% of respondents felt that their ability to conceptualize a case had improved because of the exercise. In general evaluations of the course, this particular educational exercise was frequently mentioned in response to a free-form question about "the best part of the course."

Improved survival outcomes with rituximab-based therapy in clinical trials led to the establishment of rituximab-based immunochemotherapy as standard of care for first-line (1L) treatment of FL. In the GALLIUM trial, obinutuzumab-based immunochemotherapy demonstrated improved progression-free survival (PFS), prolonged time-to-next antilymphoma treatment (TTNT) and comparable overall survival (OS) compared with rituximab-based immunochemotherapy as 1L treatment for FL. Using GALLIUM as an example, this article aims to explain how improved outcomes in 1L treatment of FL have changed the landscape for the design and interpretation of future trials. As approved therapies for 1L FL already achieve good responses, it is becoming more difficult to design trials that demonstrate further treatment benefits with the currently accepted primary endpoints. New endpoints are needed to reflect the long remission times, low relapse rates, and impact of subsequent therapies in FL. PFS is used as a primary efficacy endpoint in registrational clinical trials for indolent malignancies like FL, where improvement in OS is not always observed due to the large number of patients and long study duration required to demonstrate a clear survival benefit. However, there are limitations to using PFS as the primary endpoint. Other potential endpoints, including TTNT, progression of disease within 2 years, response rate, and minimal residual disease status are explored.
    The oral explanation (OE) is a critical event during new marketing authorisation procedures in the European Union (EU). The primary objective of the present study was to investigate how many procedures, having an OE in front of the Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use (CHMP), resulted in a regulatory approval for oncology products.

    Procedures for new marketing authorisation applications (MAAs) and Type II variations (new indication) for oncology products with at least one OE (with or without a Scientific Advisory Group (SAG) meeting) and for which the outcome took place between 31 January 2016 to 31 January 2020 were included in the analysis. Publicly available agendas/meeting minutes and assessment reports were used to obtain information on the products.

    An OE occurred in about 20% of procedures (n = 28/150) for oncology products during the review period. The majority of procedures having an OE (61%), with or without any SAG meeting, led to MAA/Type II variation approval in the Centralised Procedure.

Herein, we developed a kind of pH-responsive and degradable hyperbranched polymeric nanocarriers via yne-phenol click-reaction of resveratrol (RSV) with bifunctional n-butyl dipropiolate (BDP) for efficient doxorubicin (DOX) delivery. The natural product RSV with three phenol groups has excellent antioxidant activity and synergetic enhancement for some anticancer drugs such as DOX. RSV tends to attack the alkynyl groups on BDP by nucleophilic addition in the presence of base as catalyst to afford hyperbranched polyprodrug (denoted as RB). PEGylated RB (termed as RBP) were further synthesized to improve the water solubility and prolong blood circulation by the click reaction of propiolate-terminated RB with amino terminated poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG-NH2). Interestingly, the RBP have high DOX loading ratio (∼58.6 %) at neutral pH, but the vinyl-ether bonds in RB could break down at low pH conditions such as acidic TME (extracellular pH∼6.8, endosomes and lysosomes pH∼5.0) that leading to the targeting release of DOX and RSV. The pH-sensitive drug release of 5-sulfosalicylic acid was detected due to the innate pH-dependent stability of ZIF-8. Upward comparisons (i.e., to more attractive others) to all targets were associated with less appearance satisfaction, lower positive mood, and more thoughts of dieting and exercising than when no comparisons were made. There were indirect relationships between comparisons to celebrities/models versus all other targets and appearance satisfaction via perceived attainability of the target's appearance. These findings suggest that celebrities may be particularly harmful appearance comparison targets in women's everyday lives because their attractive appearance is perceived to be less personally attainable than other targets.

    Participants (356 university students and 544 crowdsourced adults) completed self-report measures of FA (Yale Food Addiction Scale; YFAS 2.0), psychosocial impairment (Clinical Impairment Assessment; CIA 3.0), and body image disturbance (Eating Disorders Examination Questionnaire; EDE-Q 6.0), and reported their body mass index (BMI) and gender.

    Endorsement of distress and/or impairment on the YFAS corresponded to ratings on the CIA. Structural equation models indicated the relationship between FA and eating-related psychosocial impairment was partially mediated by body image disturbance. The indirect effect of body image disturbance explained more variance in eating-related psychosocial impairment than did YFAS scores themselves. Neither BMI nor gender significantly moderated any direct or indirect pathways from food addiction to psychosocial impairment.

However, few studies have explored the vertical distribution of PM2.5 in cities. The objectives of this paper are to reveal the vertical distribution regular pattern of PM2.5 over urban underlying surfaces near the ground with a hexacopter-type unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) in winter. Results showed that the maximum vertical gradient of PM2.5 near the ground was typically the greatest in the morning as the stable atmospheric conditions. Moreover, regression model illustrated that relative humidity had the greatest impact on the vertical profile of PM2.5 compared to air temperature and altitude as hygroscopic of PM2.5 aerosols. Curve model shown that vertical profile of PM2.5 over the surfaces of water and green space first increased slowly and then declined, besides, the highest concentration inflection of PM2.5 above the water body (23.7 m) is higher than the green space (14.3 m). Thus, suggesting residents living vertical of 10-30 m from the ground around large water bodies and green spaces should not open windows for ventilation in the morning. The objectives of this paper are to reveal the vertical distribution regular pattern of PM2.5 over urban underlying surfaces near the ground with a hexacopter-type unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) in winter. Results showed that the maximum vertical gradient of PM2.5 near the ground was typically the greatest in the morning as the stable atmospheric conditions. One of the more common tools for this purpose is latent class analysis (LCA), which models a scenario involving k finite and mutually exclusive classes within the population. An alternative approach to this problem is presented by the grade of membership (GoM) model, in which individuals are assumed to have partial membership in multiple population subgroups. In this respect, it differs from the hard groupings associated with LCA.     Rehmanniae Radix Preparata (RR) and Corni Fructus (CF) are commonly used together for the treatment of chronic kidney disease (CKD) in the clinical practices for thousands of years. However, little information on their synergy mechanism is available.

    In this study, an integrated approach combining ultra performance liquid chromatography-quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry (UPLC-Q-TOF/MS)-based metabonomics and network pharmacology was adopted to elucidate the cooperation mechanism of RR and CF on the amelioration of CKD. Furthermore, the targets from network pharmacology and metabolism pathways were jointly analyzed. Finally, the activities of key metabolic enzymes were experimentally validated by ELISA.

    Metabolic profiling indicated that the metabolic disturbance in plasma was markedly alleviated after treatment. Nine putative biomarkers mainly involving in phenylalanine, tyrosine and tryptophan biosynthesis and tyrosine metabolism were identified. Moreover, the compound-target-pathway network of RR and CF for CKD treatment was constructed by network pharmacology, which was related to tyrosine metabolism and arginine and proline metabolism. The results were partly consistent with the findings of plasma metabolomics.

    In conclusion, this study solidly supported and enhanced current understanding of the synergy effects of RR and CF on CKD.     The aim of our study was to clarify the cardioprotection of chronic intermittent hypobaric hypoxia (CIHH) and the underlying mechanism in spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR).

    Adult male rats were divided into normal blood pressure Wistar-Kyoto rats (WKY) control (WKY-CON), WKY rats with CIHH treatment (WKY-CIHH), SHR control (SHR-CON) and SHR with CIHH treatment (SHR-CIHH) groups. SHR-CIHH and WKY-CIHH rats were subjected to hypobaric hypoxia simulating 4000-m altitude for 35days, 5h per day. Arterial blood pressure and cardiac function parameters, including ejection fraction, fractional shortening and left ventricular (LV) wall thickness, were evaluated. Cardiac pathomorphology and myocardial fibrosis were determined. The expression of angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE), ACE2, Ang II, Ang1-7, AT1 receptor, Mas receptor, IL-6, TNF-α,IL-10, *** and MDA were assayed in myocardium.

    Vitamin D plays an important role in the regulation of ovulatory dysfunction. We aimed to study the effect of vitamin D on letrozole-induced PCOS in female rats.

    40 non-pregnant Wistar rats were divided into four groups group I control (received 1 ml of 1% aqueous solution of (CMC)/d orally), group II letrozole-induced PCOS group (received letrozole 200 μg/d orally), group III vitamin D-treated group (received vitamin D 1000 IU/kg/day), group IV letrozole and vitamin D treated group (received letrozole and vitamin D as group II and group III for 90 days). BMI, ovarian weight, serum vitamin D, biochemical metabolic and oxidative stress markers were evaluated, ovarian tissues glutathione, malondialdehyde levels and caspase-3 activity were measured.   • Identifying the geographic hotspots of HIV infection among high-risk populations such as transgender people is critical to ending the HIV epidemic in the United States (U.S.). This study examined the spatial pattern of HIV positivity rate and the associated correlates among transgender persons in the 48 contiguous states and the District of Columbia in the U.S. The data source was the 2015 U.S. Transgender Survey (n = 27,715). We conducted spatial analyses, with state as the unit of analysis. We fitted a spatial lag regression model to assess demographic, social, and behavioral risk variables associated with HIV. The HIV positivity rate ranged by state from 0.5% to 17.1%, with a mean of 2.9%. There was a significant positive global spatial autocorrelation (global Moran's I = 0.42, p = 0.001). The identified spatial clusters of high values (hot spots i.e., states with high HIV positivity rates surrounded by states with similarly high rates) included five neighboring states (Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Tennessee) in the Southern region. HIV positivity rate was positively associated with the percentage of transgender persons who were non-Hispanic Black, had no high school education, living in poverty, and engaged in sex work. Structural interventions are needed to address education, poverty, racial discrimination, and sex work that predispose transgender persons to HIV.

    Three hundred patients with confirmed HNSCC from 20 different hospitals were included in this study. Patients in group I underwent a 2-hour infusion of 400 mg/m
    cetuximab (day 1), followed by a 1-hour infusion of 250 mg/m
    cetuximab weekly and 1-hour infusion of 100 mg/m
    cisplatin (days 1 and 21) per treatment cycle. Patients in group II were treated with a combination of cetuximab, cisplatin, and paclitaxel. Patients received 6 cycles of 175 mg/m
    paclitaxel given on days 1 and 21. The primary outcome of the study was progression-free survival (PFS); overall survival (OS) and objective response rate (ORR) were the secondary endpoints.

The Children's Oncology Group (COG) Nursing Discipline has focused on examining current practices for educating families of children newly diagnosed with cancer, and developing tools to enhance the process of patient/family education at the time of diagnosis, including development of a COG Standardized Education Checklist, which classifies education into primary, secondary, and tertiary topics. The COG Nursing Discipline awarded nursing fellowships to two doctorally prepared nurses practicing at two distinct COG institutions to evaluate the checklist implementation. This project addressed the primary topics on the checklist essential to safely care for the child at home following the first hospital discharge. Checklist feasibility was determined by the proportion of checklists completed. Checklist fidelity was determined by review of documentation on the checklist regarding educational topics covered, learner preferences, and methods used. Checklist acceptability was assessed through parent/caregiver and nurse feedback. Project implementation occurred over a 5-month period and involved 69 newly diagnosed families. Implementation of the checklist was feasible (81%), with moderate fidelity to checklist topics taught across the two sites. Verbal instruction and written documentation were the most prevalent form of education. The return rate for the parent/caregiver and nurse acceptability questionnaires was moderate to low (68% and 12%, respectively), parent/caregiver feedback was positive and acceptability among responding nurses was high, with 92% of nurses identifying the primary checklist as useful.Primary adrenal angiosarcoma is a rare, malignant, vascular neoplasm. These neoplasms typically arise in middle age (median age of 60 years) and are more common in males (65%) than in females. Although rare, these neoplasms are aggressive with a propensity for local recurrence and metastasis and a median survival of 18 months. We present 2 cases of primary adrenal angiosarcoma with synchronous, ipsilateral adrenocortical adenomas. Here we use factor analysis and genomic structural equation modelling to investigate the genetic factor structure underlying 28 items assessing depression, anxiety and neuroticism, a closely related personality trait. Symptoms of depression and anxiety loaded on two distinct, although highly genetically correlated factors, and neuroticism items were partitioned between them. We used this factor structure to conduct genome-wide association analyses on latent factors of depressive symptoms (89 independent variants, 61 genomic loci) and anxiety symptoms (102 variants, 73 loci) in the UK Biobank. Of these associated variants, 72% and 78%, respectively, replicated in an independent cohort of approximately 1.9 million individuals with self-reported diagnosis of depression and anxiety. We use these results to characterize shared and trait-specific genetic associations. Our findings provide insight into the genetic architecture of depression and anxiety and comorbidity between them.Island faunas can be characterized by gigantism in small animals and dwarfism in large animals, but the extent to which this so-called 'island rule' provides a general explanation for evolutionary trajectories on islands remains contentious. Here we use a phylogenetic meta-analysis to assess patterns and drivers of body size evolution across a global sample of paired island-mainland populations of terrestrial vertebrates. We show that 'island rule' effects are widespread in mammals, birds and reptiles, but less evident in amphibians, which mostly tend towards gigantism. We also found that the magnitude of insular dwarfism and gigantism is mediated by climate as well as island size and isolation, with more pronounced effects in smaller, more remote islands for mammals and reptiles. We conclude that the island rule is pervasive across vertebrates, but that the implications for body size evolution are nuanced and depend on an array of context-dependent ecological pressures and environmental conditions.Over millennia, ecological and evolutionary mechanisms have shaped macroecological patterns across the tree of life. Here we used environmental DNA (eDNA) metabarcoding to explore the biodiversity of marine metazoans, protists and bacteria along an extensive and highly heterogeneous coastline. Our results showed remarkably consistent biogeographic structure across the kingdoms of life despite billions of years of evolution. Analyses investigating the drivers of these patterns for each taxonomic kingdom found that environmental conditions (such as temperature) and, to a lesser extent, anthropogenic stressors (such as fishing pressure and pollution) explained some of the observed variation. Additionally, metazoans displayed biogeographic patterns that suggested regional biotic homogenization. Against the backdrop of global pervasive anthropogenic environmental change, our work highlights the importance of considering multiple domains of life to understand the maintenance and drivers of biodiversity patterns across broad taxonomic, ecological and geographical scales.Ecologists and evolutionary biologists are well aware that natural and sexual selection do not operate on traits in isolation, but instead act on combinations of traits. This article outlines the advances and challenges in the field with emphasis on the biology and scope of vectors used for gene transfer, newer targets identified, and their outcome in preclinical and clinical studies.Depression and anxiety are highly prevalent and comorbid psychiatric traits that cause considerable burden worldwide. Here we use factor analysis and genomic structural equation modelling to investigate the genetic factor structure underlying 28 items assessing depression, anxiety and neuroticism, a closely related personality trait. Symptoms of depression and anxiety loaded on two distinct, although highly genetically correlated factors, and neuroticism items were partitioned between them. We used this factor structure to conduct genome-wide association analyses on latent factors of depressive symptoms (89 independent variants, 61 genomic loci) and anxiety symptoms (102 variants, 73 loci) in the UK Biobank. Of these associated variants, 72% and 78%, respectively, replicated in an independent cohort of approximately 1.9 million individuals with self-reported diagnosis of depression and anxiety. We use these results to characterize shared and trait-specific genetic associations. Our findings provide insight into the genetic architecture of depression and anxiety and comorbidity between them.Island faunas can be characterized by gigantism in small animals and dwarfism in large animals, but the extent to which this so-called 'island rule' provides a general explanation for evolutionary trajectories on islands remains contentious. Here we use a phylogenetic meta-analysis to assess patterns and drivers of body size evolution across a global sample of paired island-mainland populations of terrestrial vertebrates. We show that 'island rule' effects are widespread in mammals, birds and reptiles, but less evident in amphibians, which mostly tend towards gigantism. We also found that the magnitude of insular dwarfism and gigantism is mediated by climate as well as island size and isolation, with more pronounced effects in smaller, more remote islands for mammals and reptiles. We conclude that the island rule is pervasive across vertebrates, but that the implications for body size evolution are nuanced and depend on an array of context-dependent ecological pressures and environmental conditions.Over millennia, ecological and evolutionary mechanisms have shaped macroecological patterns across the tree of life. Research describing these patterns at both regional and global scales has traditionally focused on the study of metazoan species. Consequently, there is a limited understanding of cross-phylum biogeographic structuring and an escalating need to understand the macroecology of both microscopic and macroscopic organisms. Here we used environmental DNA (eDNA) metabarcoding to explore the biodiversity of marine metazoans, protists and bacteria along an extensive and highly heterogeneous coastline. Our results showed remarkably consistent biogeographic structure across the kingdoms of life despite billions of years of evolution. Analyses investigating the drivers of these patterns for each taxonomic kingdom found that environmental conditions (such as temperature) and, to a lesser extent, anthropogenic stressors (such as fishing pressure and pollution) explained some of the observed variation. Additionally, metazoans displayed biogeographic patterns that suggested regional biotic homogenization. Against the backdrop of global pervasive anthropogenic environmental change, our work highlights the importance of considering multiple domains of life to understand the maintenance and drivers of biodiversity patterns across broad taxonomic, ecological and geographical scales.Ecologists and evolutionary biologists are well aware that natural and sexual selection do not operate on traits in isolation, but instead act on combinations of traits. This long-recognized and pervasive phenomenon is known as multivariate selection, or-in the particular case where it favours correlations between interacting traits-correlational selection. Despite broad acknowledgement of correlational selection, the relevant theory has often been overlooked in genomic research. Here, we discuss theory and empirical findings from ecological, quantitative genetic and genomic research, linking key insights from different fields. Correlational selection can operate on both discrete trait combinations and quantitative characters, with profound implications for genomic architecture, linkage, pleiotropy, evolvability, modularity, phenotypic integration and phenotypic plasticity. We synthesize current knowledge and discuss promising research approaches that will enable us to understand how correlational selection shapes genomic architecture, thereby linking quantitative genetic approaches with emerging genomic methods.

Pain arises as a combination of various processes after tissue damage. Distinct pain experiences in oral surgery were depicted in several previous studies, adding knowledge to the field. The management of these encounters has been suggested over time, improving treatment approaches in the clinical setting.      Using a microwave-assisted synthesis method, silver​ nanoparticles (SNPs) were prepared from a silver nitrate solution and roselle extract as a reducing and capping agent. Then, SNP-Ro chips were fabricated by mixing a solution of SNP-Ro with alginate gel. The antimicrobial effect of the synthesized SNP-Ro chips was performed by the disc diffusion technique and time kill assay. The cytotoxic effect was also determined by the MTS assay.

     One-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Scheffe's method were used to analyze the data for this experiment.

     All three ratios of the SNP-Ro chip produced inhibition zones ranging between 18.75 ± 2.08 and 19.03 ± 2.25 mm. In studying the killing time, the three groups of the SNP-Ro chips completely eradicated
    within 180 minutes. The percentage of the viable SNP-Ro chip-treated human gingival fibroblasts (HGFs) were significantly increased when compared with the alginate chip-treated cells (

     In this study, 62 girls and 34 boys with precocious puberty aged 5 to 9, 29 girls with delayed puberty aged 13 to 16, and 43 boys with delayed puberty aged 14 to 17; 169 children (91 girls and 78 boys) with normal development were compared about their dental ages through their panoramic radiographs by using the Demirjian method and skeletal ages from hand-wrist radiographs by using Greulich-Pyle atlas.

     The findings showed that, in all cases, the dental age values were higher than chronologic and skeletal age values to a statistically significant degree. In the precocious puberty group, the dental age values were higher than chronologic age values to a statistically significant degree. In the delayed puberty group, the difference determined between the chronological age and the dental age was not found to be statistically significant.

     Parental knowledge, belief, and attitude about oral health affect children's dental cleaning behavior. Further research on maternal knowledge and attitude about early-age children's oral health has been suggested to identify factors related to pediatric dental and oral health. For that purpose, a measurement instrument is needed. The research aimed to develop an instrument to measure maternal knowledge and attitude about under 3-year-old children's oral health.

     Using a validity-based approach, we held a series of basic consultation (workshops and interviews) to identify the conceptually different domains. Instrument items were derived from relevant theories. Cognitive interviews were conducted to ensure that the items were properly understood. The items were first tested among the population calibration samples (
    = 150). All instrument items were analyzed for reliability and validity.

     In total, 15 items were derived from Bloom's theory of learning and were developed for the knowledge instrument, while 10 others were developed for the attitude instrument. The reliability analysis yielded Cronbach's α scores of 0.620 for the knowledge instrument and 0.565 for the attitude instrument. All items were considered valid based on Pearson's correlation test results.

These hyperparameters do not simply specify the architecture of the model; they are also critical for the efficacy of the optimization and model-fitting process. To date, most DL approaches used for genomic prediction have concentrated on identifying suitable hyperparameters by exploring discrete options from a subset of the hyperparameter space. Enlarging the hyperparameter optimization search space with continuous hyperparameters is a daunting combinatorial problem. To deal with this problem, we propose using differential evolution (DE) to perform an efficient search of arbitrarily complex hyperparameter spaces in DL models, and we apply this to the specific case of genomic prediction of livestock phenotypes. This approach was evaluated on two pig and cattle datasets with real genotypes and simulated phenotypes (N = 7,539 animals and M = 48,541 markers) and one real dataset (N = 910 individuals and M = 28,916 markers). Hyperparameters were evaluated using cross-validation. We compared the predictive performance of DL models using hyperparameters optimized by DE against DL models with "best practice" hyperparameters selected from published studies and baseline DL models with randomly specified hyperparameters. Optimized models using DE showed a clear improvement in predictive performance across all three datasets. DE optimized hyperparameters also resulted in DL models with less overfitting and less variation in predictive performance over repeated retraining compared to non-optimized DL models.We have shown that cyanobacterial chaperonins have pH-dependent anti-aggregation activity. No major complications occurred, and the patient was discharged after 30-day bronchoscopic control, showing the absence of fistula and negativity of the methylene blue test. ECMO-assisted surgery ensures adequate respiratory support, haemodynamic stability, lower risk of bleeding complications with a clean operating field and better brain and myocardial oxygenation.Heterosis, the superiority of hybrids over their parents, is a major genetic force associated with plant fitness and crop yield enhancement. We investigated root-mediated yield heterosis in melons (Cucumis melo) by characterizing common variety grafted onto 190 hybrid rootstocks resulting from crossing 20 diverse inbreds in a diallel-mating scheme. Hybrid rootstocks improved yield by more than 40% compared to their parents and the best hybrid outperformed the reference commercial variety by 65% under both optimal and minimal irrigation treatments. To characterize the genetics of the underground heterosis we conducted whole-genome re-sequencing of the 20 founder lines, and showed that parental genetic distance was no predictor for the level of heterosis. Through inference of the 190 hybrids genotypes from their parental genomes, followed by genome-wide association analysis, we mapped multiple root-mediated yield QTLs.

HCV coinfection prevalence was very low in this Ghanaian PLHIV cohort with reported low-risk of onward transmission. To avoid the cost of screening all PLHIV in similar cohorts in resource-constrained settings, further research to develop better tools/scores to guide targeted HCV testing is needed.

The sagittal spinopelvic alignment in the standing and sitting position was measured using an EOS imaging system before and 3 months after THA. We evaluated postoperative pelvic mobility, and defined cases with less than 10° of sacral slope change as pelvic stiff type. The preoperative characteristics of those with postoperative stiff type, and preoperative factors associated with risk of postoperative stiff type were evaluated.

    Sagittal spinopelvic alignment except for lumbar alignment were significantly changed after THA.A total of 13 patients (17%) were identified as postoperative pelvic stiff type. Despite the growing evidence supporting the effects of guided ICBT, there is remarkably little research on the different factors that are important for patients to achieve effects from using such digital treatment interventions. Thus, the aim of this study was to conduct a user evaluation of a therapist-guided ICBT program using the updated DeLone and McLean (D&M) model for measuring information systems (IS) success or effectiveness. This model includes the following six dimensions system quality, information quality, service quality, intention to use and use, user satisfaction, and net benefits (impacts or effect). Ten users of a Norwegian therapist-guided ICBT program for treating anxiety disorders named 'Assisted Selrom all involved in the process, including the therapist.The larynx is an essential organ in the respiratory tract and necessary for airway protection, respiration, and phonation. Cigarette smoking is a significant risk factor associated with benign and malignant laryngeal diseases. Despite this association, the underlying mechanisms by which cigarette smoke (CS) drives disease development are not well elucidated. In the current study, we developed a short-term murine whole body inhalation model to evaluate the first CS-induced cellular responses in the glottic [i.e. vocal fold (VF)] and subglottic regions of the larynx. Specifically, we investigated epithelial cell proliferation, cell death, surface topography, and mucus production, at various time points (1 day, 5 days, 10 days) after ∼ 2 h exposure to 3R4F cigarettes (Delivered dose 5.6968 mg/kg per cigarette) and following cessation for 5 days after a 5 day CS exposure (CSE). CSE elevated levels of BrdU labeled proliferative cells and p63 labeled epithelial basal cells on day 1 in the VF. CSE increased proliferative cells in the subglottis at days 5, 10 and following cessation in the subglottis. Cleaved caspase-3 apoptotic activity was absent in VF at all time points and increased at day 1 in the subglottis. Evaluation of the VF surface by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) revealed significant epithelial microprojection damage at day 10 and early signs of necrosis at days 5 and 10 post-CSE. SEM visualizations additionally indicated the presence of deformed cilia at days 5 and 10 after CSE and post-cessation in the respiratory epithelium lined subglottis. In terms of mucin content, the impact of short-term CSE was observed only at day 10, with decreasing acidic mucin levels and increasing neutral mucin levels. Adult male albino Wistar rats were pretreated orally with ginseng extract (200 & 400 mg/kg/day) for 14 days, then two successive doses of epinephrine injection (100 mg/kg, i.p.). Epinephrine evoked electrocardiographic (ECG) and renal changes accompanied with a significant increase in heart and kidney contents of malodialdehyde (MDA), nitric oxide (NO), protein kinase C (PKC), heart contents of nuclear factor-kabba B (NF-κB) and angiotensin 1receptor (AT1R), as well as a decrease in heart and kidney reduced glutathione (GSH) and nuclear factor-erythroid-related factor 2 (Nrf2) contents. In histopathological investigations epinephrine exhibited deleterious heart changes in the form of acute MI with the presence of necrosis of cardiomyocytes with iNOS expression and produced glomerulus and renal tubules degeneration. Pretreatment of rats with ginseng extract in both doses significantly corrected epinephrine-induced heart and renal changes. The current work revealed that epinephrine-induced MI associated with aggravated renal complication and ginseng extract has cardio and reno protective role against this as it reduces infarct size, preserves cardiac and renal tissues and functions through activating Nrf2 and down-regulating NF-κB, PKC, AT1R and iNOS.
