To evaluate the performance of a Deep Learning Image Reconstruction (DLIR) algorithm in pediatric head CT for improving image quality and lesion detection with 0.625mm thin-slice images.
Low-dose axial head CT scans of 50 children with 120kV, 0.8s rotation and age-dependent 150-220mA tube current were selected. Images were reconstructed at 5mm and 0.625mm slice thickness using Filtered **** projection (FBP), Adaptive statistical iterative reconstruction-v at 50% strength (50%ASIR-V) (as reference standard), 100%ASIR-V and DLIR-high (DL-H). The CT attenuation and standard deviation values of the gray and white matters in the basal ganglia were measured. The clarity of sulci/cisterns, boundary between white and gray matters, and overall image quality was subjectively evaluated. The number of lesions in each reconstruction group was counted.
The 5mm FBP, 50%ASIR-V, 100%ASIR-V and DL-H images had a subjective score of 2.25 ± 0.44, 3.05 ± 0.23, 2.87 ± 0.39 and 3.64 ± 0.49 in a 5-point scale, respectively witsired.
Accumulating evidence have shown that the intestinal microbiota plays an important role in prevention of host obesity and metabolism disorders. Recent studies also demonstrate that early life is the key time for the colonization of intestinal microbes in host. However, there are few studies focusing on possible association between intestinal microbiota in the early life and metabolism in adulthood. Therefore the present study was conducted to examine whether the short term antibiotic and/or probiotic exposure in early life could affect intestinal microbes and their possible long term effects on host metabolism.
A high-fat diet resulted in glucose and lipid metabolism disorders with higher levels of visceral fat rate, insulin-resistance indices, and leptin. Exposure to ceftriaxone in early life aggravated the negative influences of a high-fat diet on mouse physiology. Orally fed TMC3115 protected ****, especially those who had received treatment throughout the whole study, from damage due to a high-fat diee results indicated that exposure to antibiotics, such as ceftriaxone, in early life may aggravate the negative influences of a high-fat diet on the physiology of the host animal. These results also suggest that the crosstalk between the host and their intestinal microbiota in early life may be more important than that in adulthood, even though the same intestinal microbes are present in adulthood.
Fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) is a promising new strategy in the treatment of Inflammatory Bowel Disease, but long-term delivery systems are lacking. This randomized study was designed as a safety and feasibility study of long-term FMT in subjects with mild to moderate UC using frozen, encapsulated oral FMT (cFMT).
Subjects were randomized 11 to receive FMT induction by colonoscopy, followed by 12weeks of daily oral administration of frozen encapsulated cFMT or sham therpay. Subjects were followed for 36weeks and longitudenal clinical assessments included multiple subjective and objective markers of disease severity. Ribosomal 16S bacterial sequencing was used to assess donor-induced changes in the gut microbiota. Changes in T regulatory (Treg) and mucosal associated invariant T (MAIT) cell populations were evaluated by flow cytometry as an exploratory endpoint.
Twelve subjects with active UC were randomized 6 subjects completed the full 12-week course of FMT plus cFMT, and 6 subjects received n UC and other chronic diseases but further evaluations will have to address home storage concerns. Larger trials should be done to explore the benefits of cFMT and to determine its long-term impacts on the colonic microbiome.

Methotrexate-associated lymphoproliferative disorder (MTX-LPD) is a rare but critical complication that develops in patients treated with MTX. Although MTX-LPD has been recently reported, the incidence of follicular lymphoma in the intestine is very low.
A 73-year-old woman who had been receiving MTX for over 10 years visited our hospital complaining of postprandial abdominal pain and nausea. Upper and lower digestive tract endoscopies did not show any abnormal findings. A patency capsule was stagnated at the proximal part of the ileum with a mild dilation on the oral side. An oral balloon endoscopy revealed shallow ulcerative lesions in the jejunum. She was diagnosed with MTX-LPD based on histopathological findings. The symptoms did not improve with the discontinuation of MTX, and the patient required partial resection of the small intestine. The test result for Epstein-Barr virus-encoded small RNA was negative. She was diagnosed with follicular lymphoma based on the histology findings of a surgical specimen. Postoperative positron emission tomography-computed tomography and bone marrow aspiration did not show any findings of lymphoma. On follow-up, no recurrence was noted four years after the surgery.

The emergence of carbapenem-resistant and colistin-resistant ECC pose a huge challenge to infection control. The purpose of this study was to clarify the mechanism of the carbapenems and colistin co-resistance in Enterobacter cloacae Complex (ECC) strains.
This study showed that the mechanisms of carbapenem resistance in this study are 1. Generating carbapenemase (7 of 19); 2. The production of AmpC or ESBLs combined with decreased expression of out membrane protein (12 of 19). hsp60 sequence analysis suggested 10 of 19 the strains belong to colistin hetero-resistant clusters and the mechanism of colistin resistance is increasing expression of acrA in the efflux pump AcrAB-TolC alone (18 of 19) or accompanied by a decrease of affinity between colistin and outer membrane caused by the modification of lipid A (14 of 19). Moreover, an ECC strain co-harboring plasmid-mediated mcr-4.3 and blaNDM-1 has been found.
This study suggested that there is no overlap between the resistance mechanism of co-resistant ECC strains to carbapenem and colistin.

The function of H3F3A G43W mutation, which has been observed in almost all GCTB, remains poorly characterized. Breakthrough in malignant GCTB has been trapped by the lack of clinical available drugs, limited canonical patient samples and paucity of fidelity preclinical models.
Tumor samples obtained from a malignant GCTB was implanted in immunodeficient **** for the generation of PDX. Histological examination and short tandem repeat (STR) were used for inherited features analyses. An epigenetic/transcriptional targeted compound library was selected for drug screening. The in vivo effects of selected drug were validated in PDX model.

Ischemic diabetic foot ulcer is one of the terminal complications of diabetes. The high amputation rate, recurrence rate, and treatment cost have caused a huge burden on patients and society. This study designed the modified tibial transverse transport (mTTT) technology to treat diabetic ischemic diabetic foot ulcers in patients with type 2 diabetes and investigated the effectiveness and safety of this technique.
This was a retrospective analysis of patients with type 2 diabetes and ischemic diabetic foot ulcers at two hospitals during January 2016-October 2019. These patients underwent mTTT surgery combined with wound debridement and vacuum sealing drainage negative pressure drainage treatment. In-hospital follow-up was performed at 1 month after the operation, while outpatient follow-up was performed at 3, 6, and 12 months after the operation. The ulcer healing time, recurrence rate, major amputation rate, and complications were analysed.
A total of 201 patients were enrolled in this study, including cal application and was worthy of further clinical research with high evidence level.
Tunnel position deicide the isometry of graft attachment in synthetic anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction. Near-isometric tunnel position may have advantage in graft integration and knee function in ACL reconstruction (ACLR) with polyethylene terephthalate (PET) ligament. Few studies focused on tunnel position isometry when conduct ACLR with an animal model. This study aimed to establish a preclinical rabbit model of near and non isometric ACLR with PET ligament and investigate the advantage of near-isometric ACLR compared to non-isometric ACLR.
Nine hind limbs of rabbit were used in tunnel position study. Two femoral(anatomic, nonanatomic) tunnels and three tibial(anterior, middle, posterior) tunnels were used to measure tunnel position isometry during knee full range of motion. The tunnel position combination with minimal isometry was considered as near-isometric tunnel position. Then, 48 rabbits divided into two groups were conducted near or non isometric ACLR with PET ligament with graft fmonstrate the establishmentof near-isometric tunnel position and non-isometric tunnel position with significant difference of ROM restriction and graft-bone integration. The described tunnel positions with differential isometry in a rabbit ACLR provides a reproducible and translational small animal model and enables preclinical research between tunnel position isometry and its affection on variable grafts, graft integration and knee function.
Japanese Kampo medicine is a traditional medicine with roots in ancient Chinese medicine. Because traditional physicians had been abolished in Japan, the present mainstream of Kampo treatment is that physicians who learned modern Western medicine prescribe Kampo extract products based on Western medical diagnosis. This situation is different from that in other east Asian countries, and the physicians require scientific clinical evidence.
Clinical studies were searched from literature databases, clinical trial registry sites, and "Evidence Reports of Kampo Treatment (EKAT)" published by the Japan Society for Oriental Medicine.
At the approval of Kampo products, scientific clinical evidence was not required because they have a long-period experience as a decoction. However, in the 1990s, Kampo products became a subject for national reevaluation; double-blind and placebo-controlled clinical trials. At the time, a methodological foundation for conducting clinical assessments of Kampo medicines was established. From 2000 onwards, with the evidence-based medicine era, the field of Kampo medicine also saw many randomized controlled trials, and their evidence was collected and published as EKAT. In the 2010s, post-marketing clinical trials of Kampo products also had to be conducted in this environment due to the need for ethical and scientific assurance. Currently, there are numerous clinical trials of Kampo products being conducted with high-grade trial designs.

Although 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose-positron emission tomography/computed tomography (FDG-PET/CT) is an established method for the staging of malignancies, benign lesions (e.g, active inflammatory lesions) often show increased metabolic activity. Herpes zoster is the clinical manifestation of the activation and replication of dormant varicella-zoster virus (VZV) in individuals with decreased cell-mediated immunity. Although the diagnosis of herpes zoster is clinical, it is sometimes observed incidentally during imaging for another disease. We describe the case of a 67-year-old Japanese female patient diagnosed with cervical cancer in whom FDG-PET/CT revealed herpes zoster manifestations hypermetabolic cutaneous lesions in the buttock and pelvic lymph node involvement. The patient was referred for Ga-68 DOTANOC positron emission tomography-computed tomography (Ga-68 DOTANOC PET-CT) for further evaluation. The scan was done to rule out metastatic disease or other synchronous lesions to plan surgical excision. The Ga-68 DOTANOC PET-CT revealed a pancreatic lesion with no other abdominal lesions. We noted multiple tracer avid soft tissue lesions on both sides of the neck that were not diagnosed previously. This case report demonstrates a rare case with multiple paragangliomas diagnosed by the Ga-68 DOTANOC PET-CT. We conducted a web survey hosted by the Japanese Society of Radiological Technology between October and December 2017. The questionnaire included nine items on the demographics of the respondents, their scan protocols, and additional imaging to their routine protocols.
We received responses from 119 Japanese technologists who performed
F-FDG PET/CT in practice. Almost all the respondents stated that the scanning range was from the top of the head to the pelvis or mid-thigh region.
Although 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose-positron emission tomography/computed tomography (FDG-PET/CT) is an established method for the staging of malignancies, benign lesions (e.g, active inflammatory lesions) often show increased metabolic activity. Herpes zoster is the clinical manifestation of the activation and replication of dormant varicella-zoster virus (VZV) in individuals with decreased cell-mediated immunity. Although the diagnosis of herpes zoster is clinical, it is sometimes observed incidentally during imaging for another disease. We describe the case of a 67-year-old Japanese female patient diagnosed with cervical cancer in whom FDG-PET/CT revealed herpes zoster manifestations hypermetabolic cutaneous lesions in the buttock and pelvic lymph node involvement. We tested this hypothesis with experimental work on the mutually-ornamented common waxbill (Estrilda astrild), supplementing their diets either with pigmentary (lutein, a carotenoid) or non-pigmentary (vitamin E) antioxidants, or alleviating winter cold temperature. We found that both lutein and vitamin E supplementation increased red bill colour saturation in females, reaching the same mean saturation as males, which supports the hypothesis that female bill colour is more sensitive to environmental or physiological conditions. The effect of vitamin E, a non-pigment antioxidant, suggests that carotenoids were released from their antioxidant functions. Alleviating winter cold did not increase bill colour saturation in either sex, but increased the stability of female bill colour over time, suggesting that female investment in bill colour is sensitive to cold-mediated stress. Together, results show that waxbill bill sexual dichromatism is not stable. Between April 10th and May 28th, 2020, 319 HCWs with acute illness were reviewed. In addition to SARS-CoV-2 RT-PCR screening, a multiplex molecular panel was used for testing other respiratory pathogens. For SARS-CoV-2 positive HCWs, the normalized viral load, viral culture, and virus neutralization assays were performed weekly. For SARS-CoV-2 negative HCWs, SARS-CoV-2 serological testing was performed one month after inclusion. Among the 319 HCWs included, 67 (21.0%) were tested positive for SARS-CoV-2; 65/67 (97.0%) developed mild form of COVID-19. Other respiratory pathogens were found in 6/66 (9.1%) SARS-CoV-2 positive and 47/241 (19.5%) SARS-Cov-2 negative HCWs (p = 0.07). The proportion of HCWs with a viral load > 5.0 log10 cp/mL (Ct value 4.5 log10 cp/mL (Ct less then 26) and were collected within 10 days after symptom onset. Among negative HCWs, 6/190 (3.2%) seroconverted. Our data suggest that the determination of viral load can be used for appreciating the infectiousness of infected HCWs. C57BL/6J **** were subjected to unilateral occlusion of the renal pedicle for 60 min and reperfusion for 5, 8, and 15 days. Biopsies of heart and kidney tissues were analyzed. Our findings indicated that cysteine/cystine, fatty acids, methyl groups of Collagen, α-form of proteins, Tyrosine, and Tryptophan were modulated during renal ischemia and reperfusion process. These changes are consistent with fibroblast growth factors and Collagen III contents changes. Interestingly, Tyrosine and Tryptophan, precursor molecules for the formation of uremic toxins such as indoxyl sulfate and p-cresyl sulfate were also modulated. They are markers of kidney injury and their increase is strongly correlated to cardiovascular mortality. Regarding this aspect, we notice that monitoring the Tyrosine and Tryptophan bands at 1558, 1616, and 1625 cm-1 is a viable and and advantageous way to predict fatality in cardiovascular diseases both "in vivo" or "in vitro", using the real-time, multiplexing, and minimally invasive advantages of FT-Raman spectroscopy.

No significant correlation was found between altered cerebellum-ACC FC and the clinical variables in the PDM females. The association between phenotype and genotype of DEPDC5 mutation has not been adequately characterized. We studied four families with familial focal epilepsy carrying DEPDC5 mutations. Four novel DEPDC5 mutations were identified by next-generation sequencing, including two missense mutations (c.1729 >A and c.3260G>A), one splicing mutation (c.280-1G>A), and one frameshift mutation (c.515_516delinsT). We found that patients carrying different DEPDC5 mutation have different clinical manifestations. Incomplete penetrance is a prominent feature of DEPDC5-related epilepsy, with the rate of penetrance ranging from 25 to 100%. About 21.4% of patients with DEPDC5-related familial focal epilepsy are refractory to treatments. We further reviewed the correlation of genotype and phenotype in all previous literature regarding DEPDC5-related epilepsy. Additionally, immune cell infiltration and their participation in major histocompatibility complex I (****) and/or MHCII-mediated processing and presentation of cytosolic or mitochondrial antigens activate the microglial cells and cause the massive generation of pro-inflammatory cytokines and chemokines, which are all critical for the propagation of brain inflammation and the neurodegeneration in PD with genetic and idiopathic causes. We therefore conducted a review of publications in PubMed, EMBASE, Web of Science and Wiley Online Library, from inception to April 2021. We included search terms such as HIV, cART, brain, neuroimmunity, arterial remodeling, cerebrovascular disease, and neurocognitive disorders. The literature shows that, in the post-cART era, PLWH continue to experience an increased risk of stroke and neurocognitive disorders (albeit milder forms) compared to uninfected populations. PLWH who are immunosuppressed have a higher proportion of hemorrhagic strokes and strokes caused by opportunistic infection and HIV vasculopathy, while PLWH on long-term cART have higher rates of ischemic strokes, modeling remain poorly understood, but a role has been proposed for chronic HIV-associated inflammation with increased burden on the vasculature. The literature shows that, in the post-cART era, PLWH continue to experience an increased risk of stroke and neurocognitive disorders (albeit milder forms) compared to uninfected populations. Developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH) is a disabling pathology leading to hip problems, such as painful arthritic hip, unstable hip, etc. Total hip arthroplasty (THA) is an effective treatment modality for this condition. Obesity has been shown to be associated with increased rates of complications following orthopaedic surgeries (Journal of Arthroplasty 2046-50). The hypothesis of this study was that patients with a body mass index (BMI) greater than 30 (obese), who undergo total hip arthroplasty for dysplastic hip, are associated with longer operative and anaesthetic times, longer hospital stays and higher re-admission rates within 30days.
All the cases of total hip arthroplasty in patients with high-riding dysplastic hips were reviewed. Evaluation was made of a total of 68 patients comprising 64 females and 4 males, classified into two groups. Patients with BMI < 30kg/m
formed the non-obese group and patients with BMI ≥ 30kg/m
the obese group.
The mean age was 44.67 ± 6.49years. BMI was < 30 in 44 (64.7%) patients and > 30 in 24 (35.3%) patients. This was a Retrospective study of 80 cases of acute PJI after total knee arthroplasty who were treated by DAIR, within 2weeks of onset of infection. A standardised institutional management protocol was applied to all cases. Patients were followed up for a minimum 1year. Outcomes of DAIR were classified as successful or unsuccessful based on resolution or persistence of infection, and subsequent requirement of revision surgery. Influence of factors, like comorbidities, culture status and microbiological characteristics of causative organism, on outcomes was assessed.
Overall 55 patients (68.75%) had successful eradication of infection after DAIR. 27 (33.7%) patients were culture negative and 53 (66.2%) patients grew organisms on culture. There was no statistically significant difference in outcomes (

This was a prospective observational study conducted in a tertiary care centre between August 2018 and January 2020. 143 consecutive RATKA(105 patients) and 151 consecutive MTKA(111 patients) performed by two experienced arthroplasty surgeons were included. Two independent observers evaluated the accuracy of implant positioning by measuring the radiological parameters according to the Knee-Society-Roentgenographic-Evaluation-System and limb alignment from postoperative weight-bearing scanogram. Outcomes were defined, based on the degree of deviation of measurements from the planned position and alignment, as excellent(0-1.99°), acceptable(2.00-2.99°) and outlier(≥ 3.00°).

We aimed to analyze the effects of a tailored rehabilitation nursing care program on functional ability and quality of life in patients with conservative treatment for rib fractures.
Randomized controlled trial.
Inpatient rehabilitation hospital.
Rib fracture patients treated conservatively were randomized into two groups (experimental and control group).
Patients in control group received Treatment as Usual (TAU) and patients included in experimental group received TAU and an added tailored rehabilitation nursing care program (RNT).
At baseline, and end of hospitalization treatment, the functional ability was assessed with the Barthel Index, and the quality of life was evaluated with the EuroQol-5D. Additionally, the outcomes were assessed at six-month follow-up.
A total of 80 patients were included in the study, whose mean age was 77.19 SD 7.71 in the RNT group and 75.55 SD 9.46 in the TAU group. Our data showed a significant difference in the post-treatment gains in overall quality of life (74.25 SD 20.62 vs 60.28 SD 20.54), and functional ability (71.79 SD 23.85 vs 69.41 SD 24.30) between the RNT group and the TAU group (
< 0.05). Compared to the TAU group, the RNT group also showed a significant improvement in functional ability and quality of life at six-month follow-up.
A tailored rehabilitation nursing care program added to the conservative treatment during hospitalization can improve the functional ability and quality of life of patients after rib fractures at discharge and at six-month follow-up.

Group prenatal care, which integrates medical care with patient education and empowerment in a group setting, has the potential to build social support among pregnant women and reduce the risk of postpartum depression (PPD). Past research on group care's effects on social support or PPD has produced inconsistent findings. Studies have tended to (1) examine direct effects on social support or PPD and (2) treat group care participation as a dichotomous variable. This study tests the hypothesis that group care has an indirect effect on PPD through its effect on social support. It uses both a dichotomous measure of group care participation and an ordinal measure of social contact with group members.
This study used survey data from 199 women at two Tennessee health care sites who participated in traditional care (TC) or Supportive Pregnancy Care (SPC), a new group program developed by March of Dimes. Path analysis was employed, estimating standardized path coefficients with propensity score weighted multilevel modeling.
The study found no evidence of an indirect relationship between SPC and PPD symptoms when modeling the dichotomous measure. Modeling the ordinal measure revealed more favorable PPD outcomes among women reporting high group member contact (compared with TC) and adverse outcomes among women reporting low group member contact.
SPC may be useful for preventing PPD symptoms among women socially engaged with other group care patients. Given the adverse effect among women who do not engage with other group members, group facilitators should encourage women to interact outside of scheduled sessions.

Patients with triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) and residual invasive disease (RD) after completion of neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) have a high-risk for recurrence, which is reduced by adjuvant capecitabine. Preclinical models support the use of platinum agents in the TNBC basal subtype. The EA1131 trial hypothesized that invasive disease-free survival (iDFS) would not be inferior but improved in patients with basal subtype TNBC treated with adjuvant platinum compared with capecitabine.
Patients with clinical stage II or III TNBC with ≥ 1 cm RD in the breast post-NAC were randomly assigned to receive platinum (carboplatin or cisplatin) once every 3 weeks for four cycles or capecitabine 14 out of 21 days every 3 weeks for six cycles. TNBC subtype (basal

At baseline, and end of hospitalization treatment, the functional ability was assessed with the Barthel Index, and the quality of life was evaluated with the EuroQol-5D. Additionally, the outcomes were assessed at six-month follow-up. A total of 80 patients were included in the study, whose mean age was 77.19 SD 7.71 in the RNT group and 75.55 SD 9.46 in the TAU group. Our data showed a significant difference in the post-treatment gains in overall quality of life (74.25 SD 20.62 vs 60.28 SD 20.54), and functional ability (71.79 SD 23.85 vs 69.41 SD 24.30) between the RNT group and the TAU group ( < 0.05). Compared to the TAU group, the RNT group also showed a significant improvement in functional ability and quality of life at six-month follow-up. A tailored rehabilitation nursing care program added to the conservative treatment during hospitalization can improve the functional ability and quality of life of patients after rib fractures at discharge and at six-month follow-up. This study tests the hypothesis that group care has an indirect effect on PPD through its effect on social support. It uses both a dichotomous measure of group care participation and an ordinal measure of social contact with group members. This study used survey data from 199 women at two Tennessee health care sites who participated in traditional care (TC) or Supportive Pregnancy Care (SPC), a new group program developed by March of Dimes. Path analysis was employed, estimating standardized path coefficients with propensity score weighted multilevel modeling. The study found no evidence of an indirect relationship between SPC and PPD symptoms when modeling the dichotomous measure. Modeling the ordinal measure revealed more favorable PPD outcomes among women reporting high group member contact (compared with TC) and adverse outcomes among women reporting low group member contact. The EA1131 trial hypothesized that invasive disease-free survival (iDFS) would not be inferior but improved in patients with basal subtype TNBC treated with adjuvant platinum compared with capecitabine. Although some studies suggest a decrease of disordered eating symptoms by age 6, our estimates indicate that up to 17% (at a balanced accuracy 87%) of parents of autistic children are also at heightened risk for ARFID, suggesting a lifelong risk for disordered eating. We were also able to provide the first estimates of narrow-sense heritability (h2) for ARFID risk, at 0.45. Continuity of Care Experiences (CoCEs) are a component of all entry-to-practice midwifery programs in Australia and facilitate an understanding of the central midwifery philosophy of woman-centred care and continuity of the therapeutic relationship. The aim of this research was to explore how CoCEs are viewed and experienced by students and academics across Australia.
Students enrolled in Australian midwifery programs and academics who teach into these programs were invited to participate in a cross sectional, web-based survey. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics and free text responses were analysed using content analysis.
Four hundred and five students and 61 academics responded to the survey. The CoCE was viewed as a positive and unique learning experience, preparing students to work in midwifery-led continuity models and developing confidence in their midwifery role. Challenges in recruitment, participation in care, and balancing the workload with other course requirements were evident in reports from students, but less understood by academics. Significant personal impact on finances, health and wellbeing of students were also reported.
The value of CoCEs as an experiential learning opportunity is clear, however, many students report being challenged by elements of the CoCE within current models as they try to maintain study-work-life balance.
Innovative course structure that considers and embeds the CoCE requirements within the curricula, in addition to a collective commitment from regulatory bodies, the maternity care sector and Universities to facilitate CoCEs for students may address some of the significant student impacts that are reported by this research.

Inarguably, the health crisis requires time-tested strategies and tactics for coordinating governments' and social entities' response to the health crisis, with a goal toward having and ensuring sustained effectiveness. Because of a possible recurrence of SARS-CoV-2 in Wuhan, the Prevention and Control Headquarters of Wuhan on COVID-19 launched a massive virus testing of Wuhan's 11 million residents; it was completed within 10 days. In light of this unprecedented mass testing, this study applies the situational crisis communication theory to analyze this massive virus-testing process and the mechanisms involved to contain SARS-CoV-2 in Wuhan. While many countries still have partial lockdowns, the second outbreak in Wuhan was an indication of what awaited all SARS-CoV-2-stricken countries post-lockdowns and after community restrictions had been lifted. Therefore, the recently implemented Wuhan control mechanism (in cities, districts and townships) may become a hortatory guide to other world regions as they contend with and consider appropriate measures to control the spread of SARS-CoV-2 and to ensure public safety.Introduction Data show that maternal stress triggered by exposure to a natural disaster before, during or just after pregnancy is associated with adverse pregnancy and newborn outcomes. In this paper, the first aim is to describe our efforts to test a simple, low-cost intervention to large numbers of women following a major natural disaster. The second aim is to outline the challenges faced and lessons learned during the execution of this natural disaster study. Methods The setting was the May 2016 Fort McMurray Wood Buffalo wildfire in northern Alberta, Canada. Women who were pregnant or preconception at the time of the disaster were invited to participate via social media. This prospective cohort study included a randomized controlled trial to test the effectiveness of an expressive writing intervention on the levels of prenatal maternal stress and maternal, birth, and early childhood outcomes. At recruitment and at multiple timepoints postpartum, a battery of questionnaires was administered to evaluate obj the study. Despite potential challenges, there remains a need for such research amid natural disasters.This study aims to examine the relation between COVID-19-related stressors and mental health among Chinese college students during the pandemic outbreaks, and the possible mediator or moderator between them. Five hundred and fifty Chinese college students were invited to complete an anonymous survey, and the data were analyzed with SPSS 16.0 software. The results shows that the number of stressors has a negative direct and indirect (through risk perception of being infected with COVID-19 disease) impacts on college students' mental health. Adaptive coping is a protective factor of students' mental health, and could be regarded as a buffer that attenuates the negative effect of the COVID-19-related stressors on risk perception of being infected with COVID-19 disease (or mental health). With regard to demographic variables, females, junior and senior students, or students whose family residence was worst hit by the pandemic tend to report poorer mental health during the pandemic outbreak. These findings enrich our understanding about the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on college population and have implications for university counseling services during times of acute, large-scale infective disease outbreaks.Introduction Population health concerns have been raised about negative impacts from overuse of digital technologies. We examine patterns of online activity predictive of Digital Overuse and Addictive Traits (DOAT). We explore associations between DOAT and mental well-being and analyse how both relate to self-reported changes in self-esteem, perceived isolation, and anxiety about health when individuals use the internet for health purposes. Methods A cross-sectional nationally representative household survey of adults using stratified random sampling (compliance 75.4%, n = 1,252). DOAT was measured using self-reported questions adapted from a social media addiction scale (failure to cut down use, restlessness when not using, and impact on job/studies and home/social life in the last year), combined into a single DOAT score. Higher DOAT score was defined as >1 standard deviation above population mean. The Short Warwick-Edinburgh Mental Well-being Scale was used to measure mental well-being. Analyses were limitf-esteem and other measures of mental well-being when using the internet for health purposes. From a public health perspective, a greater understanding of risk factors for digital overuse, its impacts on well-being and how to reasonably limit use of technology are critical for a successful digital revolution.Smartphone technologies can support older adults in their daily lives as they age in place at home. However, they may struggle to use these technologies which impacts acceptance, adoption, and sustainable use. This paper shows a field study with seven older adults learning and using the GoLivePhone technology through a living lab approach. These older adults participated in this research in a technology learning community that was set-up for research purposes.

In this work, we introduced a fullerene acceptor (PC71BM) into the binary photo-active layer based on a polymer donor (PM6) and a non-fullerene small molecular acceptor (BTP-BO-4Cl), and as a consequence, the ternary organic solar cells realized a high-power conversion efficiency of 17.39% compared to 16.65% in binary solar cells. The performance enhancement was found to be due to the optimized morphology and hence balanced hole and electron mobilities, which is responsible for the suppressed charge recombination and hence high photocurrent in solar cells. In addition, PC71BM shows the complementary absorption with PM6 and BTP-BO-4Cl, which can broaden the absorption range of the photo-active layer and hence more photons from the sunlight can be utilized. Besides, PC71BM shows the cascade energy level alignment between PM6 and BTP-BO-4Cl, which is helpful for charge transfer from donor to acceptor. All these merits explain the high performance in ternary solar cells, and also demonstrate that ternary photovoltaics adopting non-fullerene acceptor with the fullerene acceptor as small amount of additive is an efficient strategy to gain high performing organic solar cells.Potassium-ion batteries (PIBs) is increasingly studied because of their suitable redox potential and high natural abundance. However, potential anode materials with long-term cycling stability are still in high demand because of the large radius of K+. Herein, an MOF-derived hierarchical carbon structure and the self-assembly of CNTs on hollow carbon polyhedrons are used as carbon matrices to disperse and stabilize metal selenides(Co-Se@CNNCP). When the hybrid is utilized in PIBs, it displays a specific capacity of 410 mA h g-1 at 0.1 A g-1 after 80 cycles and 253 mA h g-1 at 0.5 A g-1 after 200 cycles with a capacity retention of 100%, while the metal selenides dispersed on hollow carbon polyhedrons without CNTs (Zn-Co-Se@NCP) lose 86% of their capacity after 200 cycles. The superior cycling stability of the hybrid is mainly attributed to the large amounts of CNTs suppressing the agglomeration of the metal selenide nanoparticles on the surface, and the hollow carbon polyhedrons cause a high structural integrity during the repreated K+ insertion and extraction process. This work offers a feasible route to design a hierarchical carbon matrix for use as the anode materials of PIBs with long-term cycling stability.Transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE) has been widely used in clinical practice as a first-line treatment for unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). However, the current therapeuticeffect of TACE is far from satisfactory and thus requires further improvement. TACE combined with multifunctional magnetic particles may be a promising approach for the treatment of HCC. In this study, we designed a new magnetic drug carrier system consisting of micron-sized iron powder, barium ferrite (BaFe12O19), and carbon-coated iron nanocrystals (CCINs). CCINs possess properties, such as high drug loading and sustained release. BaFe12O19 could attract both CCINs and iron powder to form larger clusters after magnetization. Altogether, the triple therapeutic effects of chemotherapeutic enhancement, embolization, and thermal ablation could be realized herein. Further experiments indicate that the system has a high drug-loading capacity, good controlled-release effect, and no significant cytotoxicity. Under the action of a medium-frequency magnetic induction device, the magnetic induction temperature could reach 43 °C in one min while the maximum temperature of 70.8 °C could be reached in 2.5 h. Overall, this new carrier system displayed excellent antitumor effects in a mouse model. Our findings demonstrate the great application prospects of this system in TACE for HCC.

Polyallylamine (PAA) was modified with catechol groups (CA), which mimic the mussel adhesion proteins, and gallol groups (GA) found in tunicates to compare the gelation, self-healing, and adhesive properties of the modified polymers according to pH change. The micrometer-sized gas bubbles of a liquid foam with a dispersed gas phase of > 74 vol% are polyhedral and surrounded by a continuous aqueous phase. The structure of a water-rich microemulsion with a water phase of > 74 vol% normally consists of oil droplets in water or is bicontinuous. We hypothesize that at these high water contents polyhedral water droplets in oil can also exist.
We (a) carried out phase studies on the water-rich side of the phase diagram of the quaternary system water/NaCl - hexyl methacrylate - AOT, because AOT is known for its propensity to form water-in-oil structures and hexyl methacrylate can be polymerized, (b) measured the electrical conductivities and viscosities, and (c) visualized the nanostructure with freeze-fracture electron microscopy (FFEM).
We found narrow 1-phase regions emanating from the L
phase of the oil-free water/NaCl - AOT system by adding small amounts of oil. In these regions the conductivities become extremely low and the viscosities are extremely high.
