The objective of the study was to assess the performance of CT Perfusion in comparison to CECT for preoperative detection of metastases to lymph nodes in squamous cell cancers of oral cavity.
Twenty-five patients with squamous cell cancers of oral cavity underwent CECT and CTP. Two radiologists evaluated CECT and CTP parameters independently. Surgery and post-operative histopathology was performed in all patients.
Level wise analysis of the largest node was done. 102 lymph nodes on CECT and 82 lymph nodes on CTP were correlated with post-operative histopathological findings. CECT had a sensitivity, specificity and accuracy of 75 %, 98.6 % and 91.2 %(p-value <0.001) respectively in differentiating benign from metastatic nodes. Mean transit time[MTT] was significantly the most accurate CTP parameter and carried a sensitivity, specificity, accuracy and AUC of 90.5 %, 93.4 %, 92.7 % and 0.96 (p < 0.001). The sensitivity of MTT was higher than the sensitivity of overall CECT.

The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic and new normal situation have shifted home chemotherapy administration from hospitals and become indispensable for patient care. Many cancer centers and hospitals in Thailand ad hoc home chemotherapy during the COVID-19 and new normal situation to maintain the effectiveness of chemotherapy for cancer patients at home; preventing COVID-19 disease infection is the most important concern. The purpose of this article is to describe the lessons learned for delivering home chemotherapy to cancer patients from oncology nurses during the COVID-19 pandemic and the new normal situation in Thailand. Nurses are at the forefront of the current pandemic and are taking a proactive approach with multidisciplinary teams to participate in the pandemic planning within their health organizations. The role of nurses in home chemotherapy in the new normal must be stricter than usual. Both oncology and HHC nurses play a different role for home chemotherapy, but cooperation is important to improve the quality of life and maintain the quality of care with effective treatment. Therefore, the lessons learned regarding home chemotherapy during the new normal in Thailand is a good example for other countries to develop appropriate care for cancer patients in the pandemic situation from the perspective of nurses' role.
Fatigue, sleep disturbance, and depression (FSD) are highly prevalent among breast cancer (**) patients undergoing adjuvant chemotherapy, constituting a common symptom cluster (i.e., FSD cluster). Exercise is effective in relieving fatigue, alleviating sleep disturbance, and improving the quality of life (QoL) during adjuvant chemotherapy among these women. Therefore, this study aimed to assess the feasibility and acceptability of a dance program with social support elements for managing this symptom cluster.
A prospective randomized controlled design combined with a semi-structured interview was utilized. Twenty consented eligible participants were randomly assigned to a dance group or an attention control group after baseline assessment but before chemotherapy. The feasibility of recruitment, retention, intervention, and data collection procedures and the acceptability of exercise modality, hospital-based instruction, and home-based practice were collected by retrieving information from research documen and promoting QoL.
Caring for patients living with cancer requires the support of family caregivers. Literature reports experiences of diverse burdens and health effects among caregivers. This study examined the burden, physical, psycho-social, and financial outcomes of caregiving among caregivers of patients living with cancer.
This cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted in the University College Hospital, Ibadan, Nigeria, between January and March 2019. A convenient sample of 201 caregivers who were direct family relatives were selected to complete a validated Zarit Burden Interview (ZBI) Questionnaire (r = 0.994) and perceived outcomes of caregiving questionnaire. The burden scale score ranged from 0 to 20 (no burden) to 61-88 (severe burden). Other outcomes of caregiving were measured on a Likert scale 0-4 (where 2.00 is the threshold score of effect of caregiving experienced), to determine the strength of the effect of caregiving on each variable of interest. The factors that contributed to the health outcomes systemic assessment with standardized instruments, for early identification and intervention.
Reported burden of care was mild; although negative health outcomes were noted. Health-care professionals can ameliorate such effects through a regular systemic assessment with standardized instruments, for early identification and intervention.

Seven women (four receivers and three decliners) were recruited from the Breast Cancer Integrative Oncology Study. We conducted an inductive content analysis based on in-depth semi-structured interviews with open-ended questions.
Receivers reported that doctors and family members influenced their decision-making. Decliners perceived their doctors as supportive of their decisions and reported that the experience of adjuvant therapy of family and friends, the results of Oncotest, and concerns about side effects influenced their decision-making. Receivers expressed discomfort about their decisions, relied on books, whereas decliners used various sources to find information.

We report a facile synthesis of Au@CuxO core-shell mesoporous nanospheres with tunable size in the aqueous phase via seeded growth. The success of the current work relies on the use of a halide-free copper (Cu) precursor and n-oleyl-1,3-propanediamine as a capping agent to facilitate the formation of a copperish oxide shell with a mesoporous structure and the presence of mixed oxidation states of Cu. By varying the amount of spherical Au seeds while keeping other parameters unchanged, their diameters could be readily tuned without noticeable change in morphology. As compared with commercial Cu2O, the as-prepared Au@CuxO core-shell mesoporous nanospheres exhibit the higher adsorption ability, enhanced activity, and excellent stability toward photocatalytic degradation of methyl orange (MO) under visible light irradiation, indicating their potential applications in water treatment.The establishment of a monitoring technique for imatinib is necessary in clinical and environmental toxicology. Both domains have been shown to bind preferentially to A and B histo blood group antigens with different affinities, although the binding details are not yet available. The biological relevance of these associations is unknown, although it could be related to its attributed role in pathogen recognition. The presentation of A and B histo blood group antigens in terms of peripheral core structures differs among tissues and from that of the antigen-mimicking structures produced by pathogens. Herein, the binding of the N-terminal domain of Gal-4 toward a group of differently presented A and B oligosaccharide antigens in solution has been studied through a combination of NMR, isothermal titration calorimetry (ITC), and molecular modeling. The data presented in this paper allow the identification of the specific effects that subtle chemical modifications within this antigenic family have in the binding to the N-terminal domain of Gal-4 in terms of affinity and intermolecular interactions, providing a structural-based rationale for the observed trend in the binding preferences.The accumulation of hazardous contaminants in Cannabis sativa L. raises warning signs regarding possible adverse effects on human health due to the consumption of herbal medicines and/or other herbal edible products made from cannabis. Thus, there is an urge to investigate the levels of hazardous contaminants, such as heavy metals, in cannabis plant. In the present study, 29 macro and trace elements, including both beneficial and toxic elements (heavy metals and metalloids), were investigated in 90 samples of Cannabis sativa L. collected from Greece. According to the results, the detected concentrations of macro elements in the leaves/flowers of cannabis ranged between 28 and 138,378 ppm, and of trace elements between 0.002 and 1352.904 ppm. Although the concentrations of elements varied among the samples, their accumulation pattern was found to be similar, with the contribution of toxic elements to the total concentration of trace elements being below 1%. The detected levels of the most toxic elements were below the prescribed limits established by the WHO, while the calculated THQ and CR values showed no risk (non-carcinogenic and carcinogenic) for the population exposed to the current cannabis samples.

The areas of increasing NDVI in arid and semi-arid climate region was significantly larger than humid and semi-humid region. Temperature was the leading factor affecting the change of NDVI in humid and semi-humid region. The impact of precipitation on NDVI was significantly stronger than that of other climate factors in arid region. The impact of air temperature in growing season on NDVI was stronger than that of precipitation and relative humidity.We studied the effects of urease/nitrification inhibitor combinations on urea hydrolysis and nitrification, aiming to screen out the effective inhibitor combinations for black soil and cinnamon soil in Northeast China. Urease inhibitor, N-butyl thiophosphate-triamine (NBPT), and its combination with nitrification inhibitor dicyandiamide (DCD), 3, 4-dimethylpyrazole phosphate (DMPP), 2-chloro-6 (trichloromethyl)-pyridine (CP), 2-amino-4-chloro-6-methylpyrimidine (AM) and 3-methylpyrazole (MP) were added to urea separately. Samples were collected 15 times in each of all the treatments during 125 days. We examined the changes of urea nitrogen, ammo-nium, nitrate, and nitrification inhibition rate in the two soils. Our results showed the hydrolysis of urea in black soil and cinnamon soil was about 7 d, and the addition of NBPT with or without diffe-rent nitrification inhibitors slowed down the hydrolysis to 21 d at least. Compared with the treatment with common urea, inhibitor addition significantly increased soil NH4+-N, decreased soil NO3--N, and maintained the high NH4+-N content in soil for a longer time. In black soil, application with nitrification inhibitor inhibited soil nitrification significantly and lasted for more than 125 d. DMPP and CP combined with NBPT increased the NH4+-N content in black soil by 1.6-1.8 times, while the nitrification inhibition rate was 47.9% and 24.1% at 125 d, respectively. In the cinnamon soil, the application of nitrification inhibitor could prolong the duration of ammonium oxidation from 80 d to 110 d. DCD and DMPP combined with NBPT increased the NH4+-N content in cinnamon soil by 2.1-3.4 times, while the nitrification inhibition rates at 125 d were 25.3% and 23.2%, respectively. Therefore, NBPT+DMPP combination with urea was recommended for utilization in black soil, followed by NBPT+CP. In cinnamon soil, NBPT+DCD combination with urea was recommended, followed by NBPT+DMPP.Atmospheric haze pollution is a popular environmental issue in recent years. The aerosols reduce solar radiation reaching land surface, with consequences on the growth of crops. In order to examine the effects of low solar radiation intensity on the physiological characteristics and mineral nutrition of grain crops, the random designed field experiment of rice cultivar 'Nanjing 5055' planted under different shading degrees (CK, natural sunlight control; Y1 and Y2 were treatments with shading rates of 19% and 45%, respectively) were conducted. The response of chlorophyll content (SPAD), leaf area index (LAI), net photosynthetic rate of leaves, grain yields and secondary/micro element contents (Ca, Mg, Fe, Zn, Mn, Cu) in rice were measured during key growth stages (jointing, heading, and grain filling stages). Results showed that, shading treatments inhibited the synthesis of photosynthetic products and reduced the LAI during the whole growing period, but at the early stage it did not affect the chlorophyll content, which was significantly increased at the late growth stage. Compared with CK, the 1000-grain weight of rice was decreased by 14.4% and 18.4%, and seed setting rate was decreased by 4.3% and 12.9%, which resulted in rice yield reduction. With the increases of shading rates, rice yield was decreased by 58.5% and 66.4%, respectively. The nutrient concentrations, especially for the micro-elements, in brown rice and glume were increased. Shading had a negative effect on rice growth, which would eventually reduce the crop production. The higher contents of heavy metals such as Cu and Mn would be a pollution risk for human health. Therefore, the impacts of weakened solar radiation on quantity and quality of crops need comprehensive evaluation.A field trial was conducted to examine the differences of grain yield and agronomic characters of six millet (Setaria italica) varieties in Yulin, Shaanxi during 2018-2019 growing seasons. Those varieties were planted in northern Shaanxi in different decades (1960s-1970s, 1980s-1990s, 2000s-2010s). The results showed that the grain yield of millet varieties exhibited an increasing trend across all the decades. The impact of air temperature in growing season on NDVI was stronger than that of precipitation and relative humidity.We studied the effects of urease/nitrification inhibitor combinations on urea hydrolysis and nitrification, aiming to screen out the effective inhibitor combinations for black soil and cinnamon soil in Northeast China. Urease inhibitor, N-butyl thiophosphate-triamine (NBPT), and its combination with nitrification inhibitor dicyandiamide (DCD), 3, 4-dimethylpyrazole phosphate (DMPP), 2-chloro-6 (trichloromethyl)-pyridine (CP), 2-amino-4-chloro-6-methylpyrimidine (AM) and 3-methylpyrazole (MP) were added to urea separately. Samples were collected 15 times in each of all the treatments during 125 days. We examined the changes of urea nitrogen, ammo-nium, nitrate, and nitrification inhibition rate in the two soils. Our results showed the hydrolysis of urea in black soil and cinnamon soil was about 7 d, and the addition of NBPT with or without diffe-rent nitrification inhibitors slowed down the hydrolysis to 21 d at least. Compared with the treatment with common urea, inhibitor addition significantly increased soil NH4+-N, decreased soil NO3--N, and maintained the high NH4+-N content in soil for a longer time. In black soil, application with nitrification inhibitor inhibited soil nitrification significantly and lasted for more than 125 d. DMPP and CP combined with NBPT increased the NH4+-N content in black soil by 1.6-1.8 times, while the nitrification inhibition rate was 47.9% and 24.1% at 125 d, respectively. In the cinnamon soil, the application of nitrification inhibitor could prolong the duration of ammonium oxidation from 80 d to 110 d. In order to examine the effects of low solar radiation intensity on the physiological characteristics and mineral nutrition of grain crops, the random designed field experiment of rice cultivar 'Nanjing 5055' planted under different shading degrees (CK, natural sunlight control; Y1 and Y2 were treatments with shading rates of 19% and 45%, respectively) were conducted. The response of chlorophyll content (SPAD), leaf area index (LAI), net photosynthetic rate of leaves, grain yields and secondary/micro element contents (Ca, Mg, Fe, Zn, Mn, Cu) in rice were measured during key growth stages (jointing, heading, and grain filling stages). Results showed that, shading treatments inhibited the synthesis of photosynthetic products and reduced the LAI during the whole growing period, but at the early stage it did not affect the chlorophyll content, which was significantly increased at the late growth stage. Compared with CK, the 1000-grain weight of rice was decreased by 14.4% and 18.4%, and seed setting rate was decreased by 4.3% and 12.9%, which resulted in rice yield reduction. The interest in vertical crown preparation is growing and several variations are presented in the dental literature but limited clinical outcome data exists for teeth prepared for a vertical finish line.
To audit clinical outcomes for 73 teeth after vertical preparation for knife-edge zirconia crowns.
Seventy-three teeth had knife-edge zirconia crowns placed after vertical finish line preparation. The outcomes for these teeth were analysed from a retrospective audit of clinical records.
The mean follow-up time was 21 months (SD 10 months; range 6-40). One tooth had to be extracted due to fracture at cervical level. One crown had to be re-made after margin fracture during try-in. No subsequent endodontic treatment was needed for any of the prepared teeth. No change in alveolar bone height was noted on radiographic follow-up. The mean bleeding score for the crowned teeth was higher than the mean bleeding score for a control tooth, but this was not statistically significant.
This retrospective evaluation has shown favourable outcomes for 72 teeth after vertical preparation for knife-edge crowns. Longer follow-up is needed but the present results show that the technique is a viable procedure with potential advantages.

Oral lichen planus (OLP) is a chronic autoimmune disease that frequently affects the oral mucosa. Patients with OLP tend to present with plaque accumulation which may further exacerbate the lichenoid lesion, thus plaque control may improve the quality of life of patients. The aim of this review was to test the effect of plaque control on OLP with gingival manifestations.
Systematic review following the PRISMA checklist. A search was conducted through Medline, Embase and the Cochrane Library Database up to March 2020 and complemented by a manual search in some relevant journals. Randomised Controlled Trials (RCTs) reporting plaque interventions and their effects in populations with gingival manifestations of OLP, with a follow-up period of at least 3 months were included. Risk of Bias was assessed using the Cochrane Collaboration Tool in Randomised Trials.
The initial search generated 89 sources, resulting in final inclusion of three RCTs following full-text reading. The control groups were asked to continue their regular oral hygiene routine, while test groups received additional tailored oral hygiene advice as the intervention. Two of the included papers had sufficiently similar design to be included in meta-analysis. The oral hygiene intervention was associated with improvements in clinical disease status (Escudier index) and patient-reported outcomes (OHIP-14) from baseline compared with the control group. Differences in visual analogue scores for pain between groups were not statistically different between test and control groups. Two studies were judged to have low risk of bias, while one (not included in meta-analysis) had high risk of bias.

Here, two thermal CVD reactors were explored to grow graphene on Cu foil. The design of these setups was entirely distinct, one being a "showerhead" cold-wall type, whereas the other represented the popular "tubular" hot-wall type. Upon standardizing the Cu foil surface, it was possible to develop a procedure for cm2 -scale SLG growth that differed only by the carrier gas flow rate used in the two reactors.The Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic profoundly impacted health care utilization. Four hundred and ninety soy sauce samples from markets were analyzed to detect C. perfringens. Temperature and time were also measured during transportation and display of soy sauce. A primary model was developed by fitting the Weibull model to the C. perfringens cell counts in soy sauce at 7-35°C, and δ (the time needed to decrease 1 log CFU/ml) and ρ (curve shape) were calculated. The parameters were analyzed, using the Exponential model (secondary model) as a function of temperature. The consumption amount and percentage of soy sauce were surveyed, and a dose-response model was searched. Using all collected data, a simulation model was prepared in the @RISK program to estimate the probability of C. perfringens foodborne illness by soy sauce consumption. C. perfringens were negative in 490 samples. Thus, the initial contamination level was estimated to be -2.9 log CFU/ml. The developed predictive models showed that C. perfringens cell counts decreased during transportation and display. The average consumption amounts, and the percentage of soy sauce were 7.81 ml and 81.2%, respectively. Four hundred and ninety soy sauce samples from markets were analyzed to detect C. perfringens. Temperature and time were also measured during transportation and display of soy sauce. A primary model was developed by fitting the Weibull model to the C. perfringens cell counts in soy sauce at 7-35°C, and δ (the time needed to decrease 1 log CFU/ml) and ρ (curve shape) were calculated. The parameters were analyzed, using the Exponential model (secondary model) as a function of temperature. The consumption amount and percentage of soy sauce were surveyed, and a dose-response model was searched. Using all collected data, a simulation model was prepared in the @RISK program to estimate the probability of C. perfringens foodborne illness by soy sauce consumption. C. perfringens were negative in 490 samples. Thus, the initial contamination level was estimated to be -2.9 log CFU/ml. The developed predictive models showed that C. perfringens cell counts decreased during transportation and display. The average consumption amounts, and the percentage of soy sauce were 7.81 ml and 81.2%, respectively. The simulation showed that the probability of C. perfringens foodborne illness by consumption of soy sauce was 1.7 × 10-16 per person per day. The results revealed that the limit of detection (LOD) and limit of quantification (LOQ) were ranged from 0.040 to 0.060 and 0.121 to 0.181 μg/kg, respectively; with recoveries ranged from 86.1% to 100.3%. Malaria, disproportionately affects poor people more than any other disease of public health concern in developing countries. In resource-constrained environments, monitoring the occurrence of malaria is essential for the success of national malaria control programs. Militancy and military conflicts have been a major challenge in monitoring the incidence and controlling malaria and other emerging infectious diseases. The conflicts and instability in Afghanistan have resulted in the migration of refugees into the war-torn tribal districts of Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) province and the possible introduction of many contagious epidemics. Although malaria is very common in all tribal districts, molecular, clinical and epidemiological data are scarce in these high-burden districts. Therefore, for the proper surveillance, detection, and control of malaria, obtaining and analyzing reliable data in these districts is essential.

An increased investment in socio-economic development, a strong health infrastructure, and malaria education are key interventions to reduce malaria in the tribal districts.Coral transplantation has been used in reef restoration for several decades, but information on the type of projects, their scope, scale, and success is mostly limited to published scientific studies and technical reports. Many practitioners do not have the capacity to share their progress in peer-reviewed literature, yet likely have a wealth of information to share on how to improve the efficiency of transplantation efforts. In order to incorporate non-published data on coral transplantation projects and gain an overview of the general features of these projects, we conducted an initial systematic online survey of projects run by various practitioners. Surveyed projects (n = 50) covered most of the tropical belt and ranged in size from a few hundred transplanted corals to >5000 transplants. The most frequent source of coral fragments were corals already broken from some previous impact ("corals of opportunity"; 58% of projects), followed by fragments stored in different types of aquaculture systems (42% of pactitioners is necessary to improve the understanding of coral transplantation effectiveness. Here, we examine the short-term impact of an alcohol-induced MBO event (testing less then 20 hours after blackout) on memory performance in people who have experienced a high volume of MBOs. In addition, we aimed to test the hypothesis that people who experience a high volume of MBOs may have poorer recall than non-blackout controls in either sober or intoxicated states. Three episodic memory paradigms consisting of free recall, serial recall, and depth of encoding tasks, were conducted by a group of alcohol drinkers who had never experienced a memory blackout, and those who reported at least 9 in the preceding 12-months. Studies were completed sober and after alcohol by all participants, and sober but after blackout by the experimental group. Accuracy of recall was assessed with linear mixed effects modelling for all experiments and conditions. Recall rate both before and after alcohol consumption was similar between groups, with poorer recall after drinking alcohol by all participants in all three studies. After blackout, MBO participants showed no significant improvement from their intoxicated state in serial recall and depth of encoding tasks, but an improvement in free recall. Further analysis of these findings revealed that 10 out of 23 participants showed significantly impaired performance after blackout during free recall, extending up to 17 participants in serial recall. In general, alcohol reduced recall rate in both blackout and control participants similarly, but recall following MBO remained poor. Our evidence suggests that alcohol-induced blackouts impair memory functioning the next day, and future research should establish the duration of deficits after an acute alcohol-induced blackout episode.The hypersensitive prostate specific antigen (PSA) test can measure in 0.01 ng/mL units, and its efficacy for screening after radical prostatectomy (RP) has been reported. In this study, we assessed patients who underwent RP to evaluate whether the nadir value affects biochemical recurrence (BCR). From 1995 to 2014, patients classified as N0 who had negative resection margins and a nadir PSA of less than 0.2 ng/mL were evaluated. The characteristics, pathological outcomes, PSA after RP, and BCR were assessed. A total of 1483 patients were enrolled. Among them, 323 (21.78%) patients showed BCR after RP. The mean age of the BCR group was 63.86±7.31 years, and while that of the no-recurrence group was 64.06±6.82 years (P = 0.645). The mean preoperative PSA of the BCR group was 9.75±6.92 ng/mL and that of the no-recurrence group was 6.71±5.19 ng/mL (P less then 0.001). The mean time to nadir (TTN) in the BCR group was 4.64±7.65 months, while that in the no-recurrence group was 7.43±12.46 months (P less then 0.

The cases were divided into groups according to their clinical severity (asymptomatic, mild, and moderate-to-severe) and vitamin D levels. The moderate-to-severe clinical group had significantly higher inflammation markers (CRP, procalcitonin, fibrinogen, D-dimer) and a lower lymphocyte count compared to both the mild and asymptomatic groups. The 25 OH vitamin D levels were also significantly lower (p less then 0.001), and the ratio of vitamin D deficiency was 70.6% in the moderate-to-severe group. The vitamin D-deficient group had a significantly higher age and fibrinogen levels while also having a lower lymphotion to an infection. We performed a hypothesis-generating, cross-sectional analysis of anthropometric, metabolic, lipid, and inflammation parameters, comparing active (a-NSW, n = 111) and former (f-NSW, n = 98) rotating night shift workers with diurnal workers (controls, n = 69). All participants were hospital nurses. We also evaluated the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) and assessed expression of transcription factors REV-ERBα and BMAL1 in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs), as indicators of the molecular clock.
Both a-NSW and f-NSW participants had significantly higher glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) and white blood cell counts (WBC) (p < 0.001 for both), PSQI global score (p = 0.001) and diastolic blood pressure levels (p = 0.024) compared with controls. Expression of REV-ERBα/BMAL1 RNA in PBMC was significantly higher in a-NSW (p = 0.05) than in f-NSW or control participants. Multivariate regression analysis showed that working status and PSQI were independent determinants of higher HbA1c levels (p < 0.001).

Anal cancer is a rare entity and the effect of gender and HPV status on survival is controversial. We aimed to evaluate the difference in overall survival (OS) according to gender and analyzed the effect of HPV status on OS.
The National Cancer Database (NCDB) was queried for patients with anal squamous cell carcinoma between 2004 and 2016. We evaluated the OS based on gender and HPV status using Kaplan-Meier estimates and we used multivariate Cox regression analyses to evaluate factors associated with overall survival.
A total of 6133 patients with known HPV status were included for analysis. In the non-metastatic group, male gender was associated with worse OS (HR 1.50, 95% CI 1.32-1.70; P<0.001) whereas HPV status did not affect the OS (HR 1.08, 95% CI 0.96-1.22; P=0.213). In the metastatic group, there was no difference in OS based on gender (HR 1.29, 95% CI 0.91-1.82; P=0.148), whereas HPV-negative status was associated with worse OS (HR 1.52, 95% CI 1.09-2.12; P=0.014).

Data on psychosocial work conditions, including work shifts, job control, psychological job demands, and workplace justice, were collected. Health conditions were measured using the **** Depression Inventory-II and self-rated health. Leaving intentions were measured using a self-developed questionnaire. The participants' average work experience was 6.79 (Standard Deviation (SD) = 5.26) years, their highest educational level was university, and work shifts were mostly night and rotating shifts. Approximately 75.5% of nurses perceived high levels of WFCs. Leaving intentions were correlated with WFCs (r = 0.350, p less then 0.01) and psychological work demands (r = 0.377, p less then 0.01). After adjusting for age, educational level, and work characteristics, high levels of WFCs were associated with poor self-rated health, and depression, but not associated with high leaving intentions. Glenoid track is used to assess the engagement of Hill-Sachs lesions. The objective of this study was to identify if off-track glenoid track was a risk factor for recurrence of anterior glenohumeral instability in postoperative patients with arthroscopic anterior labrum repair.
Sixty patients with glenohumeral instability who underwent arthroscopic repair of the anterior labrum were studied. Study group (patients with recurrence of postoperative dislocation) and control (no dislocation). Radiographic measurements were made on magnetic resonance imaging and computed tomography. Measurements of glenoid diameter, glenoid bone loss, as well as the presence and size of Hill-Sachs lesions were obtained. Later they were classified as "on-track" or "off-track".
Seven (11.67%) patients suffered recurrence, of which six (10%) were carriers of an off-track injury and 1 (1.67%) on-Track. 53 (88.33%) patients did not experience recurrence, of which 11 (18.33%) were carriers of an off-track injury and 42 (70%) on track. A 23.47 increased risk of recurrence of instability was interpreted in patients with "off-track" lesions compared to patients with "On track" lesions.

Acute **** pain (LA) is a considerable problem in any care setting. The Emergency Department (ED) intended to provide immediate, timely and effective care. Our objective was to estimate the prevalence and describe the usual care process.
To estimate prevalence, a random sample was included of 5,333 consultations admitted in ED at hospital XX between January and December 2016. LA cases were defined according to the diagnosis at arrival. A retrospective cohort with all LA cases was used to describe complementary studies and therapeutic behaviors established in ED or within the subsequent 30 days outpatient follow-up.
LA represented 4.37% (95% CI 3.83-4.95%) of consultations. A total of 1,096 cases of LA were included mean age of 53.26 ± 19.85 years, 55.93% (613) female sex and few comorbidities. The median attention time was 3.28 hours and 6.20% was admitted. 70% (778) received treatment in CEA, being the most used administration routes intravenous (61.86%), and intramuscular (20.62%). The analgesics used were 55.38% corticosteroids, 55.02% NSAIDs, 34.85% opioids. The complementary studies requested during ED or until 30 days after discharge, were 52.19% laboratory, 47.17% radiography, 28.38% RM, 10.77% tomography, 9.12% interventionism.

The selection of surgical technique is controversial with little current literature on the correction of rotation with common osteotomies. The aim of this study is to evaluate preoperative and postoperative radiological characteristics regarding CR of the first metatarsal using long Chevron osteotomy for moderate to severe HV.

Fractures are relevant injuries in the lives of individuals both for the cost of treatment and for the burden on working life. The information in our country about this pathology is scarce, so we set out to review epidemiological data available in the national health survey.
The prevalence of fracture life was calculated for the entire sample and for adults over 55 years of age, with different logistic regression models estimated by sex for the likelihood of a fracture in life.
The prevalence of fracture life is 18%, with 25.1% for adults over 55 years of age, with higher prevalence observed in men than in women (22.5% and 13.8% respectively). In the male sex it was associated with fractures age, smoking, physical activity, alcohol consumption, and BMI, while in the female sex it was associated age, polypharmacy, marital status, and physical activity.

Fractures are relevant injuries in the lives of individuals both for the cost of treatment and for the burden on working life. The information in our country about this pathology is scarce, so we set out to review epidemiological data available in the national health survey. The prevalence of fracture life was calculated for the entire sample and for adults over 55 years of age, with different logistic regression models estimated by sex for the likelihood of a fracture in life. The prevalence of fracture life is 18%, with 25.1% for adults over 55 years of age, with higher prevalence observed in men than in women (22.5% and 13.8% respectively). In the male sex it was associated with fractures age, smoking, physical activity, alcohol consumption, and BMI, while in the female sex it was associated age, polypharmacy, marital status, and physical activity. An association was found between the occurrence of fractures and multiple known risk factors for chronic diseases, highlighting the relevance of fractures in the population. Therefore, we investigated the mechanisms involved in relaxation of small arteries induced by GYY4137 [(4-methoxyphenyl)-morpholin-4-yl-sulfanylidene-sulfido-λ5-phosphane;morpholin-4-ium], which is considered a slow-releasing H2S donor. Sulfides were measured by use of 5,5'-dithiobis-(2-nitro benzoic acid), and small rat mesenteric arteries with internal diameters of 200-250 µm were mounted in microvascular myographs for isometric tension recordings. GYY4137 produced similar low levels of sulfides in the absence and the presence of arteries. In U46619-contracted small mesenteric arteries, GYY4137 (10-6-10-3 M) induced concentration-dependent relaxations, while a synthetic, sulfur-free, GYY4137 did not change the vascular tone. L-cysteine (10-6-10-3 M) induced only small relaxations reaching 24 ± 6% at 10-3 M. One of the challenging targets for nanotheranostics is the nervous system with major hindrances from the neurovascular units, the functional units of blood-brain barrier. As blood-brain barrier is crucial for protecting the CNS from toxins and metabolic fluctuations, most of the synthetic nanomaterials cannot pass through this barrier making it difficult for diagnosing or targeting the cells. Biodegradable nanoparticles show a promising role in this aspect. Certain neural pathologies have compromised barrier creating a path for most of the nanoparticles to enter into the cells. However, such carriers may pose a risk of side effects to non-neural tissues and their toxicity needs to be elucidated at preclinical levels. Based on enquiries received, our team of researchers was given the chance to produce evidence summaries evaluating the potential of complementary interventions in COVID-19 management. Here, we present and discuss the findings of four selected medicinal plants (Nigella sativa, Vernonia amygdalina, Azadirachta indica, Eurycoma longifolia), with reported antiviral, anti-inflammatory, and immunomodulatory effects that might be interesting for further investigation. Our findings showed that only A. indica reported positive antiviral evidence specific to the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) based on preliminary in silico data while all four medicinal plants demonstrated differential anti-inflammatory or immunomodulatory effects. The definitive roles of these medicinal plants in cytokine storms and post-infection complications remains to be further investigated. Quality control and standardisation of medicinal plant-based products also needs to be emphasized. To investigate the association between muscular strength and metabolic syndrome (MetS), with a specific focus on the role of weight status, using a nationally representative sample of US youth.
The analysis included 409 boys and 415 girls from the 2011 to 2014 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey between 12 and 18years of age. The prevalence of MetS was defined using age- and sex-specific criteria for abdominal obesity, elevated triglycerides, blood pressure, fasting glucose, and low high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol. Strength was assessed via handgrip dynamometer and expressed as age- and sex-specific z scores of relative strength. Low strength was defined as a relative strength below the 25th percentile. Analyses controlled for age, sex, race/ethnicity, physical activity, and weight status.
The sample prevalence of MetS was approximately 5.3%. However, MetS prevalence was 18.5% in overweight/obese youth with low strength. The adjusted odds of MetS were 3.1 (95% confidence interval, 1.5-6.3, P < .001) times higher for overweight/obese youth with low strength versus sufficient strength.
Muscular strength is predictive of adolescent MetS, specifically in those with unhealthy weight status. Approximately one in 5 overweight/obese youth with low strength had MetS. These findings highlight the relevance of muscular strength in youth cardiometabolic morbidities.

The findings indicated both males and females exhibited mean increases in the body mass index (+10.6%; 18.8-20.8kg·m-2, P < .001, partial η2 = .627) and decreases in push-ups (-35.6%; 7.3-4.7 repetitions, P < .001, partial η2 = .371), sit-ups (-19.4%; 22.7-18.3 repetitions, P < .001, partial η2 = .420), and the Progressive Aerobic Cardiovascular Endurance Run test (-26.7%; 31.4-22.4 laps, P < .001, partial η2 = .644) scores from PRE to POST.

The purpose of this integrative review is to identify strategies that can be used to provide student nurses with effective clinical education experiences in residential aged care facilities offering skilled nursing (RACF-SNs). Twenty-three studies evaluating teaching and learning models and experiences were reviewed. Four themes were identified related to effective strategies for providing gerontological clinical education to students in residential aged care environments, principally nursing homes. These were developing a partnership, comprehensive orientation, effective supervision for students, and supporting staff. Eight different models were described for enhancing clinical learning experiences in these environments. These models reflect the themes highlighted in the review. Relevance of the findings to a conceptual framework for evaluating gerontological clinical placements, the Senses Framework, is considered. Strong partnerships between schools of nursing and residential aged care environments can provide well-organized clinical education to undergraduate nursing students. To be sustainable, these partnerships must be developed in ways that do not require significant additional resources. A guideline for this process based on findings of the review has been developed.The transition from student to novice is a difficult time. Although the novice nurse is excited to start working, the nurse struggles with acclimating to a new role with new responsibilities and the need to reconcile disparities between what was taught in school and what is practiced in the real world. To lessen the impact of the transition experience, health care organizations have implemented transition-to-practice programs including orientations, preceptorships, and residencies. Despite these efforts, if the novice nurse does not find these programs helpful, there is still a risk that the transition experience will not conclude with successful results. This integrative review examined qualitative studies that explored the transition-to-practice experience of novice nurses who participated in a transition-to-practice program provided by their place of employment. Thirteen articles met the criteria for this integrative review; seven themes emerged from the commonalities in the studies socialization, professional growth, feeling supported, transition challenges, reflections, transition shock, and feelings.
