We analysed 130 lesions delineated in twenty-six patients. Dose-volume histograms were computed from predictive and post-treatment dosimetry foemonstrated how QVH analysis could be used to define the parameters that predict the significant differences between predictive and post-treatment dose distributions.
It was shown that the use of the QVH is feasible in assessing the predictive value of
Tc-MAA SPECT/CT dosimetry and in estimating the absorbed dose delivered to liver metastases from colorectal cancer via

Biologically important curcuminoids viz curcumin, demethoxycurcumin, and bisdemethoxycurcumin in turmeric rhizome have several health benefits. Pharmaceutical industries synthesize curcuminoids manipulating gene expressions in vitro or in vivo because of their medicinal importance. In this experiment, we studied the gene expressions involved in the curcuminoid biosynthesis pathway in association with curcuminoid yield in turmeric rhizome to study the impact of individual gene expression on curcuminoid biosynthesis.
Gene expressions at the different growth stages of turmeric rhizome were association tested with respective curcuminoid contents. Gene expression patterns of diketide-CoA synthase (DCS) and multiple curcumin synthases (CURSs) viz curcumin synthase 1 (CURS1), curcumin synthase 2 (CURS2), and curcumin synthase 3 (CURS3) were differentially associated with different curcuminoid contents. Recurrent lumbar disc herniation (LDH) is the most frequent reason for reoperation after lumbar microdiscectomy. While several risk factors for recurrent LDH have been well-described, the effect of age on recurrence remains unclear, especially concerning the timing of recurrent LDH.
From a prospective registry, we identified all patients who underwent tubular microdiscectomy for LDH. Recurrent LDH was defined as reoperation for LDH at the same index level and side. The associations among age and incidence of recurrent LDH as well as on time to recurrent LDH were statistically evaluated using multivariable analysis of covariance, linear regression, and Cox proportional hazards modelling.
Of the 3013 patients who underwent surgery for LDH, 166 (5.5%) had to undergo reoperation due to LDH recurrence. Uni- and multivariable analysis revealed no influence of age on the incidence of recurrent LDH (both p > 0.05). Linear regression indicated earlier reoperation in older patients, both with (β = -0.248) and without (β = -0.374) correction for confounders (both p < 0.05). An additional survival analysis found that patients aged over 35years had recurrent LDH significantly earlier (hazard ratio 0.617, p = 0.013).

Tumor thrombus in the superior mesenteric vein secondary to colon cancer is rare. We report a case of tumor thrombus in the superior mesenteric vein and liver metastasis due to advanced colon cancer that was treated with chemotherapy and complete surgical resection.
A 72-year-old man after transverse colectomy with lymph node dissection for advanced colon cancer was diagnosed with tumor thrombus in the superior mesenteric vein and liver metastasis. RESULTS Seroprotection rates (SPRs) remained high but declined from 100% one month after primary immunization to 91.3% at month 7 and 89.5% at month 36. Geometric mean titers (GMTs) declined considerably from 384.1 by day 56-60.8 at month 36. No long-term safety concerns were identified. METHODS CRISPR/Cas9 technology was used to target random mutations into exon3 of PRKN in human fibroblasts cell line ****5. V.Although the application of human embryonic stem cells (hESCs) in stem cell-replacement therapy remains promising, its potential is hindered by a low cell survival rate in post-transplantation within the inner ear. Here, we aim to enhance the in vitro and in vivo survival rate and neuronal differentiation of otic neuronal progenitors (ONPs) by generating an artificial stem cell niche consisting of three-dimensional (3D) hESC-derived ONP spheroids with a nanofibrillar cellulose hydrogel and a sustained-release brain-derivative neurotrophic factor delivery system. Our results demonstrated that the transplanted hESC-derived ONP spheroids survived and neuronally differentiated into otic neuronal lineages in vitro and in vivo and also extended neurites toward the bony wall of the cochlea 90 days after the transplantation without the use of immunosuppressant medication. We investigated functional connectivity in three groups of adults with different literacy status illiterates, ex-illiterates (i.e., who learned to read during adulthood), and literates (i.e., who learned to read in childhood). We used a data-driven, multivariate whole brain approach (Independent Component Analysis [ICA]) combined with a region of interest (ROI) analysis in order to explore the functional connectivity of the VWFA with four ICA networks related to vision and language functions.

The results showed that if active measures were not taken to reduce the accumulation of PAHs in Changchun soil, the CSI-PAHs would be classified as "ultra-high severity" level in 2035.Laboratory experiments with intact sediment cores from a hypertrophic very windy exposed shallow lake were conducted to assess the combined effect of anoxia and sediment resuspension on phosphorus (P) dynamics after adding different P adsorbents (CFH-12® and Phoslock®). In this study we hypothesize that the addition of geoengineering materials will increase P retention in the sediment even at the worst physic-chemical conditions such as anoxia and sediment resuspension. Both adsorbents significantly reduced the P release from the sediments after a 54 days-anoxic incubation period (CFH-12® by 85% and Phoslock® by 98%) and even after resuspension events (CFH-12® by 84% and Phoslock® by 88%), indicating that both adsorbents are suitable P inactivating agents for restoring shallow eutrophicated lakes under such circumstances. CFH-12® did not release dissolved Fe to the water column neither after the anoxic period nor after resuspension events compared to Control (no adsorbents addition). The La concentration was significantly higher in Phoslock® (3.5-5.7 μg L-1) than in Control at all sampling days but it was not affected by resuspension. The high efficiency in P removal under anoxia and resuspension, the low risk of toxicity and the high maximum adsorption capacity makes CFH-12® a promising adsorbent for lake restoration. Finally, a critical review of articles was presented across three main categories of biowaste management such as mitigation, sustainable utilization, and cleaner disposal from the perspective of the biorefinery concept. Operational and technological challenges are identified for the integration of anaerobic digestion in biorefineries, especially in developing nations. The water-soluble graphitic carbon nitride, even at low concentration, possesses an excellent ability to adsorb halogenated organic dye. As a result, the dyes are found to adsorb within ∼5s even without any additional physical or chemical activation. From the UV-Vis absorption investigations, it has been perceived that in the presence of graphitic carbon nitride (g-C3N4) the dye adsorption efficacy is observed nearly 80% with the well fitted linearly of R2 = 0.9731. Effective in-situ surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) studies for Ag nanoparticles decorated graphitic carbon nitride has been carried out and the obtained result shows good sensing performance of the material towards acetaminophen drug. The results showed that if active measures were not taken to reduce the accumulation of PAHs in Changchun soil, the CSI-PAHs would be classified as "ultra-high severity" level in 2035.Laboratory experiments with intact sediment cores from a hypertrophic very windy exposed shallow lake were conducted to assess the combined effect of anoxia and sediment resuspension on phosphorus (P) dynamics after adding different P adsorbents (CFH-12® and Phoslock®). In this study we hypothesize that the addition of geoengineering materials will increase P retention in the sediment even at the worst physic-chemical conditions such as anoxia and sediment resuspension. Both adsorbents significantly reduced the P release from the sediments after a 54 days-anoxic incubation period (CFH-12® by 85% and Phoslock® by 98%) and even after resuspension events (CFH-12® by 84% and Phoslock® by 88%), indicating that both adsorbents are suitable P inactivating agents for restoring shallow eutrophicated lakes under such circumstances. CFH-12® did not release dissolved Fe to the water column neither after the anoxic period nor after resuspension events compared to Control (no adsorbents addition). The La concentration was significantly higher in Phoslock® (3.5-5.7 μg L-1) than in Control at all sampling days but it was not affected by resuspension. The high efficiency in P removal under anoxia and resuspension, the low risk of toxicity and the high maximum adsorption capacity makes CFH-12® a promising adsorbent for lake restoration. The purpose of this review is to give an overview of the current phytochemistry and pharmacological activities of C. tinctoria, and reveals the correlation among its traditional uses, phytochemistry, pharmacological profile, and potential toxicity.
This review is based on published studies and books from electronic sources and library, including the online ethnobotanical database, ethnobotanical monographs, Scopus, SciFinder, Baidu Scholar, CNKI, and PubMed. These reports are related to the traditional uses, phytochemistry, pharmacology, and toxicology of C. tinctisease and, more importantly, have revealed the plant as a valuable medicinal plant resource for the treatment of a wide range of diseases. The available reports indicated that most of the bioactivities in C. tinctorial could be attributed to flavonoids. However, higher qualitystudieson animals and humans studies are required to explore the efficacy and mechanism of action of C. tinctoria in future.

Snake bite is a major occupational hazard in tropical and subtropical countries including India as per the World Health Organization. Naja naja (Indian cobra) and Daboia russelli (Russell's viper) are the two poisonous snakes commonly associated with human mortality in India. Andrographis serpyllifolia (Rottler ex Vahl) Wight has been documented in ethnobotanical records as a plant possessing potent anti-snake venom activity.
The present study is aimed for systematic evaluation of in vitro anti-venom potential of various solvent based leaf extracts of A. serpyllifolia against toxic venom enzymes of Naja naja and Daboia russelli.
Different solvent based leaf extracts of A. serpyllifolia were tested against the snake venoms of Naja naja and Daboia russelli obtained from Irula Snake Catchers Industrial Co-operative Society Limited, Kancheepuram, Tamil nadu, India. Three different in vitro neutralization assays such as indirect hemolysis, procoagulent and lytic activities and seven in vitro enzyme inhibition assays such as protease, acetylcholinesterase, phosphomonoesterase, phosphodiesterase, 5'nucleotidase, phospholipase A2, hyaluronidase and post synaptic acetylcholine receptor binding activity were carried out according to standard protocols. The results were analyzed using the standard ANOVA procedures.

To verify the feasibility of walking to shorten the time before obtaining delayed radiographs after iodized oil hysterosalpingography (HSG).
One hundred women with infertility were selected for HSG from June 2018 to December 2018 at the Women's Hospital of Nanjing Medical University; the subjects were randomly divided into walking and control groups. The walking group was required to walk more than 12,000 steps within 6 hours after HSG, while the control group was prohibited from performing high-intensity exercise. The degree of pelvic adhesion was diagnosed with delayed radiographs acquired at 6 and 24 hours, and the diagnostic consistency of the radiographs at the two time points was evaluated.
No significant difference was observed in the baseline data between groups (p > 0.05). The delayed radiograph results in the walking group showed good agreement (p = 0.255 > 0.05, Kappa value 0.781 > 0.75), while those in the control group showed general agreement (p = 0.002 < 0.05, Kappa value 0.493 > 0.40 < 0.75).

In the EU, determining the benefit-risk profile is an existing core requirement of the clinical evaluation performed according to MEDDEV 2.7/1 Rev 4 guidelines, but under the new Medical Device Regulation (MDR), "intended" clinical benefits must be determined first.The MDR sets high standards for ensuring reliable data are generated from clinical investigations. It stipulates that the endpoints of clinical investigations should include clinical benefits. However, many clinical-use questions arise only after a device is made widely available to patients. For all medical devices, particularly for on-the-market devices never subjected to randomized controlled trials and for new devices developed when these trials were inappropriate/impossible, the postmarket phase of the device is a valuable source of clinical-benefit data. Our results demonstrate for the first time that a polyphenolic extract from cocoa and its main flavonoid protect human endothelial cells against an oxidative insult by modulating oxygen radical generation and antioxidant enzyme and non-enzyme defences.PURPOSE The β2-adrenergic receptor (β2AR) is highly expressed in various human cancers. The prognostic significance of its expression in patients with colorectal cancer (CRC) remains unclear. The aim of this study was to assess the prognostic role of β2AR expression in patients with surgically resected CRC. METHODS One hundred and forty-seven patients with surgically resected CRC were examined using immunohistochemistry. The expression of β2AR was assessed in the specimens of resected primary tumors. RESULTS β2AR was expressed in 52.3% of the patients' tumors. β2AR expression was significantly associated with T factor, N factor, and tumor cell proliferation (Ki-67 labeling index). Univariate analysis demonstrated that T factor, N factor, tumor stage, lymphatic permeation, vascular invasion, perineural invasion, β2AR expression, and Ki-67 labeling index were significant prognostic factors for worse disease-free survival (DFS); all but T factor were also significant predictors for worse overall survival (OS). Multivariate analysis confirmed that expression of β2AR was a significant prognostic marker for predicting worse DFS and OS. LA global longitudinal strain (LA-GLS) and LA dyssynchrony were quantified by speckle-tracking strain analysis. LA dyssynchrony was defined as the maximal difference of time-to-peak strain (LA time-diff). All patients with a wide-QRS underwent CRT, and event-free survival was tracked for 24 months. At baseline, LA dyssynchrony was significantly more pronounced in patients with a wide-QRS HFrEF (342 ± 126 ms) than that in patients with a narrow-QRS (236 ± 127 ms, P less then 0.001) and controls (186 ± 78 ms, P less then 0.001). Six months after CRT, LA-GLS significantly improved from 11.9 ± 4.7 to 19.6 ± 10.1% (P less then 0.05) and LA time-diff was reduced from 338 ± 123 to 245 ± 141 ms (P less then 0.05) in responders only. Patients with an LA time-diff less then 202 ms and those with an LA-GLS ≧14.6% six months after CRT showed significantly better outcomes than the others (P less then 0.05, respectively). The effect of GLP-1RAs on hard renal endpoints has yet to be established; to date, there have been no published GLP-1RA clinical trials with primary renal endpoints. In this review, we discuss the evidence for a renal protective role of GLP-1RAs, highlighting the secondary renal outcomes from recent cardiovascular outcome trials of this class of glucose-lowering therapies.The present study investigates the neural pathways underlying individual susceptibility to affective or cognitive information in persuasive communication, also known as the structural matching effect. During functional magnetic resonance imaging, 30 participants evaluated 10 consumable products presented with both affective and cognitive persuasive messages. All participants were characterized on a continuum regarding their personal orientation in terms of individual differences in need for affect (NFA) and need for cognition (NFC). The results showed that the vMPFC, posterior cingulate cortex, and cerebellum are more strongly activated when the persuasive message content, either affective or cognitive, matched the recipient's individual affective or cognitive orientation.

Although UD is recognized to have the potential to support the design of public playgrounds, no studies examined UD solutions for playgrounds or tested them for efparse. While accessibility is an important consideration for playground design, it does not ensure that play occupations can take place. Orodispersible films (ODFs) are excellent and attractive drug delivery carriers that have the potential to deliver drugs, herbal extracts, and vaccines. They are apt for patients who have a problem consuming traditional drug products such as tablets or capsules. The beauty of this dosage form is that it does not need water to consume by the subjects and can be readily administered to the tongue. The present review highlights the true potential of ODFs to act as a carrier for the delivery of various antiviral drugs/herbs/vaccines.

The aim of the study was to develop a simple, highthroughput and sensitive LC-MS/MS method and apply to a bioequivalence study of montelukast, a light sensitive drug.
The effects of organic modifiers in mobile phase, protein precipitation agent to plasma sample ratio, and light on montelukast stability in unprocessed and processed human plasma, were evaluated. Validation was conducted in accordance with European Medicines Agency Guideline on bioanalytical method validation.
No interference peak was observed when acetonitrile was used as an organic modifier. Acetonitrile to plasma ratio of 41 produced clean plasma sample. Approximately 3 % of cis isomer was detected in unprocessed plasma samples while 21 % of cis isomer was detected in processed plasma samples after exposing to fluorescent light for 24h. The standard calibration curve was linear over 3.00-1200.00 ng/mL. All method validation parameters were within the acceptance criteria.

This study explores the effect of economic booms in male-dominated industries like mining on female intra-household decision-making power. Using the 2007-2008 global financial crisis as an exogenous event which led to a gold mining boom in Mexico, I find that women living in gold endowed municipalities experienced higher decision-making power contrary to some theoretical predictions. These results appear to be consistent with unitary household bargaining models which assume income pooling, as female decision-making power increased despite no changes in female labor force participation and an observed increase in male employment. We recruited 204 healthcare professionals (50% females) with a mean age of 32.92 years (SD = 7.01). Results showed that perceived risk and coronavirus fear positively predicted depression, anxiety, and stress while resilience negatively predicted those mental health problems. Coronavirus fear mediated the relationship between perceived risk and resilience, depression, anxiety, and stress. Additionally, resilience mitigated the effect of coronavirus fear on depression, anxiety, and stress. Heavy calcifications remain formidable challenges to PCI, even for well-experienced operators. However, rotational atherectomy (RA)-induced coronary perforations (CPs) still could not be obviated. This study was to explore incidence and mechanisms of RA-induced CP in real-world practice. Knowing why CPs occur in RA should help operators avert such mishaps.
Patients who received coronary RA from April 2010 to December 2019 with keywords related to perforations were retrieved from database. The procedure details, angiography, and clinical information were reviewed in detail.
A total of 479 RAs were performed with 11 perforations in 10 procedures among 9 patients documented. The incidence of RA-induced CP was 2.1%. The RA vessels were distributed in different territories, including first diagonal branch. Most CPs could be treated conservatively, but prolonged profound shock predisposed to poor outcome. CPs caused by rotawire tip occurred in 18.2% of cases, inappropriately sized burrs in 18.2% of cases, and rotawire damage with subsequent transection and perforation in another 18.

Different combinations of synthesisers, timbral modulations, scales, and mappings were developed to examine whether particular sound classes influenced performance. When compared to trials with static pink noise, we found that, despite their vision being limited at impact, participants were able to use different types of sonification to significantly reduce variability in their distance from the target and ball location estimation. These results suggest that concurrent sound can play an important role in reducing variability in behavioural performance and related perceptual estimations. In addition, we found that, when compared to trials with static pink noise, participants were able to use sonification to significantly lower their average impact velocity. In the discussion, we offer some trends and observations relative to the different sound synthesis parameters and their effects on behavioural and perceptual performance.In clinical routine, treatment of pregnant women is a recurring challenge. After careful evaluation of potential benefits and risks of a therapy, not only the optimal choice of a medical treatment, but also adequate control of clinical symptoms and interdisciplinary care are crucial for a safe pregnancy.Temporomandibular disorders encompass multiple pathologies of the temporomandibular joint that manifest as middle/inner ear symptoms, headache, and/or localized TMJ symptoms. There is an important although somewhat limited role of imaging in the diagnostic evaluation of temporomandibular disorders. In this manuscript, we provide a comprehensive review of TMJ anatomy, outline potentially important features of TMJ disc ultrastructure and biochemistry in comparison with the intervertebral disc and knee meniscus, and provide imaging examples of the TMJ abnormalities currently evaluable with MRI and CT. In addition, we provide an overview of emerging and investigational TMJ imaging techniques in order to encourage further imaging research based on the biomechanical alterations of the TMJ disc.INTRODUCTION Reverse shoulder arthroplasty (RSA) is a common treatment for proximal humeral fractures (PHFs) in the elderly. This study evaluates the influence of tuberosity healing (TH) on functional outcome following a 135° humeral inclination RSA for PHFs. METHODS Retrospectively, all patients with an acute PHF treated with a 135° humeral inclination RSA at four centers during a three-year period were followed up. Constant score (CS), TH and glenoid notching were analyzed. RESULTS Sixty-four of 100 patients (64%) with a mean age of 76 ± 7 years were available for follow-up at 22 ± 8 months. The mean-adjusted CS was 72%. TH of the greater tuberosity (GT) was 77% and resulted in significantly improved forward flexion (128° vs. 92°; p = 0.003), external rotation (33° vs. 17°; p = 0.03) and adjusted CS (78% vs. https://www.selleckchem.com/products/3-aminobenzamide.html 54%, p less then 0.005). Data were extracted and methodological quality was assessed using a 14-item checklist. RESULTS A total of 8 studies met the inclusion criteria. The studies reported mean values ± SD between 120° and 141.1° ± 7.7 for the SA; 5.8 mm ± 1.4 for the FTD; between - 0.1° ± 3.3 and 10.3° ± 5.7 for the PTA; between 5.8° ± 5.4 and 17° for the LPFA; between 23.2° ± 5.0 and 27.1° ± 4.4 for the LFTI; and 5.8 mm ± 5.4 for the TT-TG. CONCLUSION PF alignment in the osteoarthritic knee is more variable than expected. Twenty-nine participants from Australia engaged in semi-structured interviews based on TST (intention, behavioural prepotency, self-regulation), and other variables important to adherence. Individuals with more complex medication regimens spoke of the importance of routines, planning, and knowledge-seeking, whereas those with simpler regimens spoke of the importance of visual cues. TST may be useful for identifying some variables important in medication adherence, however, additional factors were also identified. For simple regimens, future research should focus on the manipulation of visual cues. Through effects on nitric oxide bioavailability, vascular endothelial function is improved after the intake of a high amount of nitrate or L-arginine, but decreased after the intake of a high-fat meal. Therefore, we compared the effects of beetroot powder with or without L-arginine on postprandial brachial artery flow-mediated vasodilation (FMD) after consumption of a high-fat mixed-meal.
Eighteen abdominally obese men completed this randomized, double-blinded, cross-over trial. The study consisted of five test days, each separated by a wash-out period of at least one week. Participants received in random order, a blended meal with a control or nutritional supplement consisting of beetroot powder providing 200 mg nitrate, beetroot with 0.8 g of L-arginine, beetroot with 1.5 g of L-arginine, or 3.0 g of L-arginine. Participants then fasted and 2 h postprandial FMD measurements were performed.
No significant differences between meals were observed for postprandial FMD (
= 0.45) levels. However, there was a non-significant trend towards a more beneficial postprandial FMD response with the beetroot-containing meals as compared with meals without beetroot.

Traditional questionnaires assessing the severity of depression are limited and might not be appropriate for military personnel. We intend to explore the diagnostic ability of three machine learning methods for evaluating the depression status of Chinese recruits, using the Chinese version of **** Depression Inventory-II (BDI-II) as the standard.
Our diagnostic study was carried out in Luoyang City (Henan Province, China; 10/16/2018-12/10/2018) with a sample of 1000 Chinese male recruits selected using cluster convenient sampling. All participants completed the BDI and 3 questionnaires including the data of demographics, military careers and 18 factors. The participants were randomly selected as the training set and the testing at 21. The machine learning methods tested for assessing the presence or absence of depression status were neural network (NN), support vector machine (SVM), and decision tree (DT).
A total of 1000 participants completed the questionnaires, with 223 reporting depression status and 777 not. The highest sensitivity was observed for DT (94.1%), followed by SVM (93.4%) and NN (93.1%). The highest specificity was observed for NN (60.0%), followed by SVM (58.8%) and DT (43.3%). The area under the curve (AUC) of the SVM was the largest (0.862) compared with NN (0.860) and DT (0.734). The regression prediction error and error volatility of the SVM were the smallest.

We explored changes in spontaneous brain connectivity in patients with diffuse axonal injury (DAI), assessed via functional connectivity density (FCD) tests using different frequency bands.
In all, 23 patients with DAI (17 males and 6 females) and 23 healthy controls (HCs; 17 males and 6 females) were included. Functional magnetic resonance imaging scans were performed when the participants were in a resting state and the FCD levels in three frequency bands (slow-4 0.027-0.073 Hz, slow-5 0.01-0.027 Hz, and typical 0.01-0.08 Hz) were measured. In addition, Pearson's correlation coefficient was used to explore the relationship between clinical indices and brain regions with abnormal FCD values.

At the 40% phase, it is largest in most cases.Recently we encountered two cases with mesonephric features, mesonephric-like carcinoma (MLC) of the ovary, and female adnexal tumor of probable Wolffian origin (FATWO). They are thought to be related to mesonephric remnants (or Wolffian duct remnants). Herein we describe the cytohistolgical features, differential diagnoses, and potential pitfalls in diagnosis of these neoplasms. On cytological examination, the case of ****showed tight 3-dimensional clusters of overlapping round cells, corresponding to solid growth pattern seen on histological examination. Tubular architecture and papillary formations composed of neoplastic cells of medium size with scant cytoplasm were readily identified. Intraluminal eosinophilic secretions were better seen on histological examination. Additionally, areas resembling features of papillary thyroid carcinoma were noted. Mitoses and apoptotic bodies were not identified on cytology but seen on histological sections. The neoplastic cells were positive for CK7, CD10, PAX-8, TTF-1, and GATA-3, and negative for ER, PR, and WT-1 immunostains. In contrast to MLC, cytological examination of FATWO showed smaller oval to spindle monotonous cells without mitotic figures. Some cells contained paranuclear vacuoles and were arranged individually or in loose cohesive clusters. In each patient, two symmetric lesional sites were randomly selected; one was assigned as the target lesion, which was treated with add-on LIPUS twice weekly for 24 weeks, and the other as the control lesion, which was administrated with sham sonification. In this work, we have developed a series of pyrene-based LDI reagents (LALDI tags) that can be used for labelling and LALDI-MS analysis of reducing carbohydrates from complex (biological) samples without the need for additional chemical derivatisation or purification. We have systematically explored the suitability of four pyrene-based LDI enhancers and three aldehyde-reactive handles, optimised sample preparation, and demonstrated the use of LALDI tags for the detection of lactose. We have also exemplified the potential of LALDI tags for labelling carbohydrates in biological samples by direct detection of lactose in ***'s milk. These results demonstrate that LALDI-MS is a promising technique for the analysis of reducing carbohydrates in biological samples, and pave the way for the development of LALDI-MS for glycomics and diagnostics.Zinc (Zn) is an indispensable element for rice growth. A comparative transcriptome profile analysis was conducted using the roots of two Zn deficiency tolerant varieties (UCP122 and KALIBORO26) and two sensitive varieties (IR26 and IR64) by merging data from untreated control (CK) and Zn deficiency treated samples. Results revealed a total of 4,688 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) between the normal Zn and deficient conditions, with 2,702 and 1,489 unique DEGs upregulated and downregulated, respectively. Functional enrichment analysis identified transcription factors (TFs), such as WRKY, MYB, ERF, and bHLH which are important in the regulation of the Zn deficiency response. Furthermore, chitinases, jasmonic acid, and phenylpropanoid pathways were found to be important in the Zn deficiency response. The metal tolerance protein (MTP) genes also appeared to play an important role in conferring tolerance to Zn deficiency. A heavy metal-associated domain-containing protein 7 was associated with tolerance to Zn deficiency and negatively regulated downstream genes. Collectively, our findings provide valuable expression patterns and candidate genes for the study of molecular mechanisms underlying the response to Zn deficiency and for improvements in breeding for tolerance to Zn deficiency in rice.

They are thought to be related to mesonephric remnants (or Wolffian duct remnants). Herein we describe the cytohistolgical features, differential diagnoses, and potential pitfalls in diagnosis of these neoplasms. On cytological examination, the case of MLC showed tight 3-dimensional clusters of overlapping round cells, corresponding to solid growth pattern seen on histological examination. Tubular architecture and papillary formations composed of neoplastic cells of medium size with scant cytoplasm were readily identified. Intraluminal eosinophilic secretions were better seen on histological examination. Additionally, areas resembling features of papillary thyroid carcinoma were noted. Mitoses and apoptotic bodies were not identified on cytology but seen on histological sections. The neoplastic cells were positive for CK7, CD10, PAX-8, TTF-1, and GATA-3, and negative for ER, PR, and WT-1 immunostains. In contrast to MLC, cytological examination of FATWO showed smaller oval to spindle monotonous cells without mitotic figures. Some cells contained paranuclear vacuoles and were arranged individually or in loose cohesive clusters. Other cells were closely associated with pericellular hyalinized basement membrane-like material and they were arranged in cohesive clusters as well. On histological examination, similar to MLC, the FATWO had areas with thyroid-like features, such as, intraluminal eosinophilic secretions, paranuclear vacuoles, in the background of collagenous stroma.
