To obtain complets that are highly descriptive to image compositions, a weakly supervised complet ranking algorithm is designed by quantifying the quality of each complet. The algorithm seamlessly encodes three factors the image-level quality discrimination, weakly supervised constraint, and complet geometry of each image. Based on the top-ranking complets, a novel multi-column convolutional neural network (CNN) called SDA-Net is designed, which supports input segments with arbitrary shapes. The key is a dual-aggregation mechanism that fuses the intracomplet deep features and the intercomplet deep features under a unified framework. Thorough experimental validations on a series of benchmark data sets demonstrated the superiority of our method.Tactile representation on touchscreens plays an important role in improving realism and richness of users' interaction experience. Statistical analysis of our data showed a positive correlation between the assessed parameters of insulin resistance and metabolic compensation of diabetes with a Pearson correlation coefficient of 0.3156, and a decrease in glycated hemoglobin and insulin resistance after adjustment of dietary and regimen measures in 73.58 % of patients. Study Design and Methods We enrolled mothers who delivered healthy term or late preterm infants during the month of January 2019 in a tertiary referral center for neonatal care in Milan, Italy. At discharge, a structured interview about mothers' rooming-in experience was administered by healthcare professionals. Conclusions Our study contributes to a deeper knowledge of maternal rooming-in experience in an Italian tertiary maternity. He presented fatigability, murmurs and NYHA class II. Echocardiography and cardiac CT revealed that an aneurysmal dilatation of the LCX along with the dilated coronary sinus entered into the right atrium (RA) through the great cardiac vein. However, it showed that the dilated LCX directly drained into the RA by coronary angiography, which was confirmed by the surgery. During the surgical procedure, the LCX fistula was identified in a 3*3 cm bulbous structure, the aneurysmal dilation of RA tissue. The end of fistula was located in the lower-middle interatrial septum, which was near the coronary sinus and above the opening of inferior vena cava (IVC). Transcardiac chamber closure with cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) was successfully performed for the correction of the fistula. It indicated that preoperative angiography is essential to define the details of large ICCAF with aneurysmal dilation. Moreover, transcardiac chamber closure with CPB is the optimal procedure for the treatment of large ICCAF, while interventional catheterization is not feasible due to the presence of aneurysmal dilation of the LCX. However, adherence to this practice by healthcare facilities is lower than that of other Steps. A deeper knowledge of maternal rooming-in experience has been advocated to identify the most effective rooming-in policies, thus enabling mothers to have a positive experience when practicing it in the postpartum period. Aim To investigate maternal knowledge of rooming-in and the most frequently encountered barriers and possible facilitators of adherence to the practice, according to their experience. Study Design and Methods We enrolled mothers who delivered healthy term or late preterm infants during the month of January 2019 in a tertiary referral center for neonatal care in Milan, Italy. At discharge, a structured interview about mothers' rooming-in experience was administered by healthcare professionals. Basic subjects' characteristics and mode eding rate at discharge compared to mothers who did not. Conclusions Our study contributes to a deeper knowledge of maternal rooming-in experience in an Italian tertiary maternity. We underline the importance of providing a tailored support to the mother-infant dyad in order to overcome rooming-in barriers perceived by mothers and promote a positive rooming-in experience. The principal component analysis applied to stable isotopes and fatty acids evidenced a good discrimination among species and their geographical catching area. This multi-disciplinary analytical approach could represent a promising tool to identify the commercial fish and trace their origin in order to guarantee the health of consumers.BACKGROUND Cardiomyopathy is a common complication among muscular dystrophy (MD) patients and often results in advanced heart failure and premature death. In spite of this, there is hesitancy to consider heart transplantation (HTx). This study describes the HTx outcomes in patients with MD in the United States. METHODS AND RESULTS All HTx in the United Network for Organ Sharing database from October 1, 1987, to March 31, 2016, were identified. Two patient groups were created MD cohort (n=81), and a cohort of all other cardiomyopathies, called cardiomyopathy-unmatched (n=41 317). Propensity score matching (ratio 12) was performed on transplant age, gender transplant year, renal function, and inotropic support at transplant to form a cardiomyopathy-matched cohort (n=162). Patient characteristics and posttransplant outcomes were compared. In the 81 patients with MD, Becker was the most common type (42%-52%). All the analyzed preoperative characteristics did not statistically differ between the MD and cardiomyopathy-matched cohorts except ventricular assist device use (16% versus 30%; P=0.017), ventilator support (0% versus 6%; P=0.031), and donor race mismatch (30% versus 55%; P less then 0.001). Median time on waitlist was not statistically different between the 2 groups (52 versus 59 days; P=0.12). Posttransplant survival of MD cohort was not statistically different compared with cardiomyopathy-matched cohort (P=0.18; hazard ratio [95% CI], 0.71 [0.42-1.18]) and was better than the cardiomyopathy-unmatched cohort (P=0.004; hazard ratio [95% CI], 0.53 [0.34-0.82]). Among the types of MD, no statistical difference was observed in posttransplant survival of Becker MD versus non-Becker MD (P=0.12; hazard ratio [95% CI], 2.17 [0.79-6.01]). CONCLUSIONS Patients with MD undergoing HTx had similar long-term posttransplant survival compared with matched cardiomyopathy-related HTx recipients. Using a highly sensitive oscilloscope and a urological holmium laser, we assessed the end-fiber power output under a variety of bending conditions. To ensure maximal confidence in our results, the maximal bending conditions explored substantially exceeded any condition which could occur during ureteroscopic surgery. Although modulation of fronto-parieto-cerebellar causal relationships were observed following stimulation, there was no evidence for a behavioral deficit. We propose that olivo-cerebellar circuits may have responded to the discordant tACS-induced currents as if they were "error signals" in the context of ongoing functional alpha-band brain dynamics. Compensatory cerebellar activity may have contributed to the lack of behavioral deficits and to differences in causal relationships observed following stimulation. Understanding a potential compensatory mechanism involving short-term plasticity in cerebellum may be critical to developing potential clinical applications of tACS, particularly for disorders such as autism that are characterized by both atypical cortical and cerebellar dynamics.Meat and seafood products present a viable medium for microbial propagation, which contributes to foodborne illnesses and quality losses. The development of novel and effective techniques for microbial decontamination is therefore vital to the food industry. Water presents a unique advantage for large-scale applications, which can be functionalized to inactivate microbial growth, ensuring the safety and quality of meat and seafood products. By taking into account the increased popularity of functionalized water utilization through electrolysis, ozonation and cold plasma technology, relevant literature regarding their applications in meat and seafood safety and quality are reviewed. In addition, the principles of generating functionalized water are presented, and the safety issues associated with their uses are also discussed.Functionalization of water is a promising approach for the microbiological safety and quality of meat and seafood products and possesses synergistic effects when combined with other decontamination approaches.

At intervals of 0 to 0.1 seconds and 0.6 to 0.8 seconds, the octagon connection was separated at the maximum screw head displacement and the internal part of the abutment, but the morse taper connection did not exhibit any separation. Self-ligating brackets might be more efficient than conventional appliance systems during the initial alignment stage of orthodontic treatment due to reduced frictional resistance. This study aimed to compare the alignment efficiency and pain experience of Damon3 self-ligating and MBT pre-adjusted brackets in the initial alignment stage. Methods. In this randomized clinical trial, 30 patients aged 14‒20 years, who needed non-extraction treatment in both maxillary and mandibular arches, were randomly assigned to two groups; 15 patients were treated with MBT pre-adjusted brackets, and 15 patients received Damon3 self-ligating brackets, both with 0.022-in slots. Alginate impressions were taken at the start of treatment (T0) and four monthly visits (T1, T2, T3, and T4). Little's irregularity index (LII) was used to assess the tooth displacements. The patients rated their pain experience immediately after the insertion of the archwire, 4 hours, 24 hours, 3 days, 7 days, and at each monthly visit using a visual analog scale (VAS). Results. The rate of upper dental alignment between T0 and T4 was significantly higher with the Damon3 compared to MBT brackets (P=0.015). Although significantly more changes in the lower LII scores were observed during the first three months with the Damon3 system, the rate of improvement in the irregularity of lower teeth over the 4-month period was not significantly different between the two groups (P=0.50). The patients' pain experience was not significantly different between the bracket groups (P=0.29). Conclusion. During the four-month alignment stage, significantly more improvement in the upper dental irregularity was observed with self-ligating compared to conventional brackets. A biological dentin post obtained from an extracted tooth eliminates the problems arising from material differences and reduces the fracture rate in teeth undergoing root canal treatment. This study used finite element analysis to compare a biological dentin post with posts made of two different materials. Methods. Three 3D models of the upper central incisor were created, and stainless-steel, glass fiber and biological dentin posts were applied to these models. The restoration of the models was completed by applying a composite as the core structure and a ceramic crown as the superstructure. Using finite element stress analysis in the restoration models, a 100-N force was applied in the vertical and horizontal directions and at a 45º angle, and the suitability of the biological dentin post was evaluated by comparing the data. Results. Under the applied forces, the greatest stress accumulation was seen in the models with the stainless steel post. Because the stainless steel post was more rigid, stress forces accumulated on the surface instead of being transmitted to the tooth tissue. In the models with the glass fiber and biological dentin posts, the post material responded to the stratification in tandem with the dental tissue and did not cause excessive stress accumulation on the tooth or post surfaces. Conclusion. The results showed that biological dentin posts prevent the accumulation of stresses that might cause fractures in teeth undergoing root canal treatment. In addition, the physical compatibility and biocompatibility of a biological dentin post with the tooth imply that it is a good alternative to the types of post currently used. © 2019 Falakaloğlu et al.Background. Mesiodistal and buccolingual angulations of teeth are variable in different malocclusion classes. This study aimed to assess the mesiodistal angulation of posterior teeth in orthodontic patients with vertical, normal, and horizontal facial growth patterns. Methods. This descriptive, cross-sectional study evaluated 150 lateral cephalograms of orthodontic patients. According to cephalometric analysis, facial growth patterns were divided into three groups of normal, horizontal, and vertical (n=50). The angulation of maxillary and mandibular posterior teeth was then measured. Data were analyzed using SPSS 22. Results. The results showed an increase in the mean angle of maxillary and mandibular posterior teeth relative to palatal and mandibular planes in patients with a vertical facial growth pattern. Conversely, their angulation decreased relative to the bisected occlusal plane (BOP). The angulation of posterior teeth decreased relative to palatal and mandibular planes and increased relative to the occlusal plane with an increase in overbite. The mean angle of all maxillary teeth relative to the palatal plane was significantly greater in open bite patients compared to normal and deep bite patients. This value in patients with normal bite was significantly greater than that in deep bite patients (P less then 0.05). Conclusion. The current results revealed that in patients with a vertical growth pattern, all the posterior teeth had a forward inclination. At intervals of 0 to 0.1 seconds and 0.6 to 0.8 seconds, the octagon connection was separated at the maximum screw head displacement and the internal part of the abutment, but the morse taper connection did not exhibit any separation. In the above time intervals, the results were similar to the maximum state in case of the minimum displacement of the screw head and the internal part of the abutment. Conclusion. Self-ligating brackets might be more efficient than conventional appliance systems during the initial alignment stage of orthodontic treatment due to reduced frictional resistance. This study aimed to compare the alignment efficiency and pain experience of Damon3 self-ligating and MBT pre-adjusted brackets in the initial alignment stage. Methods. In this randomized clinical trial, 30 patients aged 14‒20 years, who needed non-extraction treatment in both maxillary and mandibular arches, were randomly assigned to two groups; 15 patients were treated with MBT pre-adjusted brackets, and 15 patients received Damon3 self-ligating brackets, both with 0.022-in slots. Alginate impressions were taken at the start of treatment (T0) and four monthly visits (T1, T2, T3, and T4). Little's irregularity index (LII) was used to assess the tooth displacements. The patients rated their pain experience immediately after the insertion of the archwire, 4 hours, 24 hours, 3 days, 7 days, and at each monthly visit using a visual analog scale (VAS). Results. The rate of upper dental alignment between T0 and T4 was significantly higher with the Damon3 compared to MBT brackets (P=0.015). Although significantly more changes in the lower LII scores were observed during the first three months with the Damon3 system, the rate of improvement in the irregularity of lower teeth over the 4-month period was not significantly different between the two groups (P=0.50). The patients' pain experience was not significantly different between the bracket groups (P=0.29). Conclusion. During the four-month alignment stage, significantly more improvement in the upper dental irregularity was observed with self-ligating compared to conventional brackets. A biological dentin post obtained from an extracted tooth eliminates the problems arising from material differences and reduces the fracture rate in teeth undergoing root canal treatment. This study used finite element analysis to compare a biological dentin post with posts made of two different materials. Methods. Three 3D models of the upper central incisor were created, and stainless-steel, glass fiber and biological dentin posts were applied to these models. The restoration of the models was completed by applying a composite as the core structure and a ceramic crown as the superstructure. Using finite element stress analysis in the restoration models, a 100-N force was applied in the vertical and horizontal directions and at a 45º angle, and the suitability of the biological dentin post was evaluated by comparing the data. Results. Under the applied forces, the greatest stress accumulation was seen in the models with the stainless steel post. Because the stainless steel post was more rigid, stress forces accumulated on the surface instead of being transmitted to the tooth tissue. In the models with the glass fiber and biological dentin posts, the post material responded to the stratification in tandem with the dental tissue and did not cause excessive stress accumulation on the tooth or post surfaces. Conclusion. The results showed that biological dentin posts prevent the accumulation of stresses that might cause fractures in teeth undergoing root canal treatment. In addition, the physical compatibility and biocompatibility of a biological dentin post with the tooth imply that it is a good alternative to the types of post currently used. © 2019 Falakaloğlu et al.Background. Mesiodistal and buccolingual angulations of teeth are variable in different malocclusion classes. This study aimed to assess the mesiodistal angulation of posterior teeth in orthodontic patients with vertical, normal, and horizontal facial growth patterns. Methods. This descriptive, cross-sectional study evaluated 150 lateral cephalograms of orthodontic patients. According to cephalometric analysis, facial growth patterns were divided into three groups of normal, horizontal, and vertical (n=50). The angulation of maxillary and mandibular posterior teeth was then measured. Data were analyzed using SPSS 22. Results. The results showed an increase in the mean angle of maxillary and mandibular posterior teeth relative to palatal and mandibular planes in patients with a vertical facial growth pattern. Conversely, their angulation decreased relative to the bisected occlusal plane (BOP). The angulation of posterior teeth decreased relative to palatal and mandibular planes and increased relative to the occlusal plane with an increase in overbite. The mean angle of all maxillary teeth relative to the palatal plane was significantly greater in open bite patients compared to normal and deep bite patients. This value in patients with normal bite was significantly greater than that in deep bite patients (P less then 0.05). Conclusion. The current results revealed that in patients with a vertical growth pattern, all the posterior teeth had a forward inclination. We identified 7 844 814 subjects without a history of any dementia who underwent ≥3 health examinations from 2005 to 2012 in the Korean National Health Insurance System cohort. Blood pressure variability (BPV) was measured using the variability independent of the mean, coefficient of variation, and SD. During the median follow-up of 6.2 years, there were 200 574 cases of all-cause dementia (2.8%), 165 112 cases of Alzheimer's disease (2.1%), and 27 443 cases of vascular dementia (0.3%). There was a linear association between higher BPV and outcome measures. In the multivariable adjusted model, the hazard ratios and 95% CIs of all-cause dementia were 1.06 (1.04-1.07) for the highest quartile of variability independent of the mean of diastolic blood pressure only, 1.09 (1.08-1.11) for that of systolic blood pressure only, and 1.18 (1.16-1.19) for that of both systolic and diastolic blood pressure compared with subjects having no highest quartile for BPV. Consistent results were noted for Alzheimer's disease and vascular dementia using other indices of variability and in various sensitivity and subgroup analyses. BPV is an independent predictor for developing dementia and its subtypes. A dose-response relationship was noted between higher BPV and dementia incidence. This study demonstrates the utility of a network approach in deepening the understanding of the structure of CG symptoms among Chinese older people. Strengths and limitations, as well as implications for informing the assessment and treatment of this disorder, were discussed. BACKGROUND Non-motor symptoms (NMS) are common in Parkinson's disease (PD), but their relationships to nigrostriatal degeneration remain largely unexplored. METHODS We evaluated 18 NMS scores covering 5 major domains in relation to concurrent and future dopamine transporter (DAT) imaging in 344 PD patients from the Parkinson's Progression and Markers Initiative (PPMI). We standardized NMS assessments into z-scores for side-by-side comparisons. Patients underwent sequential DaTSCAN imaging at enrollment and at months 12, 24, and 48. Specific binding ratios (SBR) were calculated using the occipital lobe reference region. We evaluated the association of striatal DAT binding at the four time points with each baseline NMS using mixed-effects regression models. RESULTS Multiple baseline NMS were significantly associated with DAT binding at baseline and at follow-up scans. REM sleep behavior disorder (RBD) symptoms showed the strongest association - mean striatal SBR declined with increasing RBD symptom z-score (average of time-point-specific slopes per unit change in z-score βAVG = -0.083, SE = 0.017; p less then 0.0001). In addition, striatal DAT binding was linearly associated with increasing baseline z-scores positively for the memory (βAVG=0.055, SE = 0.022; p = 0.01) and visuospatial (βAVG=0.044, SE = 0.020; p = 0.03) cognitive domains, and negatively for total anxiety (βAVG= -0.059, SE = 0.018; p = 0.001). Striatal DAT binding showed curvilinear associations with odor identification, verbal discrimination recognition, and autonomic dysfunction z-scores (p = 0.001, p = 0.0009, and p = 0.0002, respectively). We present a new algorithm based on a deep learning method for model reconstruction from SAXS data. An auto-encoder for protein 3D models was trained to compress 3D shape information into vectors of a 200-dimensional latent space, and the vectors are optimized using genetic algorithms to build 3D models that are consistent with the scattering data. The program has been tested with experimental SAXS data, demonstrating the capacity and robustness of accurate model reconstruction. Furthermore, the model size information can be optimized using this algorithm, enhancing the automation in model reconstruction directly from SAXS data. The program was implemented using Python with the TensorFlow framework, with source code and webserver available from http//liulab.csrc.ac.cn/decodeSAXS. Mammalian brain development critically depends on proper thyroid hormone signaling, via the TRα1 nuclear receptor. The downstream mechanisms by which TRα1 impacts brain development are currently unknown. In order to investigate these mechanisms, we used mouse genetics to induce the expression of a dominant-negative mutation of TRα1 specifically in GABAergic neurons, the main inhibitory neurons in the brain. This triggered post-natal epileptic seizures and a profound impairment of GABAergic neuron maturation in several brain regions. Analysis of the transcriptome and TRα1 cistrome in the striatum allowed us to identify a small set of genes, the transcription of which is upregulated by TRα1 in GABAergic neurons and which probably plays an important role during post-natal maturation of the brain. Thus, our results point to GABAergic neurons as direct targets of thyroid hormone during brain development and suggest that many defects seen in hypothyroid brains may be secondary to GABAergic neuron malfunction. Honeycomb-layered phases Na3M2XO6 (M = Ni, Cu, Co; X = Sb, Bietc.) have been intensively pursued as high-voltage and high-rate capability cathode materials for Na-ion batteries (NIBs), but the crystal structure is not well elucidated. Herein, structural analysis was conducted on pristine Na3Ni2SbO6 material using electron microscopy and associated spectroscopies to reveal its crystallographic features. Experimental observations along multiple zone axes indicate that structural disorder is intrinsic in the pristine Na3Ni2SbO6, characteristic of randomly stacked layers with three variants of monoclinic structure. Stacking disorder is demonstrated by the non-vertical relationship of adjacent Ni2SbO6 layers in [100] zone axis, the different Ni/Sb atomic arrangements in [010] zone axis, and the Ni/Sb random overlap in [001] zone axis. The insight on the structural disorder may inspire studies on their phase transformations upon cycling and provide some clues to potentially solve the voltage/capacity decay problems of these honeycomb-layered materials. Emerging evidence demonstrates that radiotherapy induces immunogenic death on tumor cells that emit immunostimulating signals resulting in tumor-specific immune responses. However, the impact of tumor features and microenvironmental factors on the efficacy of radiation-induced immunity remains to be elucidated. Herein, we use a calibrated model of tumor-effector cell interactions to investigate the potential benefits and immunological consequences of radiotherapy. Simulations analysis suggests that radiotherapy success depends on the functional tumor vascularity extent and reveals that the pre-treatment tumor size is not a consistent determinant of treatment outcomes. The one-size-fits-all approach of conventionally fractionated radiotherapy is predicted to result in some overtreated patients. In addition, model simulations also suggest that an arbitrary increase in treatment duration does not necessarily result in better tumor control. This study highlights the potential benefits of tumor-immune ecosystem profiling during treatment planning to better harness the immunogenic potential of radiotherapy.

Mammalian brain development critically depends on proper thyroid hormone signaling, via the TRα1 nuclear receptor. The downstream mechanisms by which TRα1 impacts brain development are currently unknown. In order to investigate these mechanisms, we used mouse genetics to induce the expression of a dominant-negative mutation of TRα1 specifically in GABAergic neurons, the main inhibitory neurons in the brain. This triggered post-natal epileptic seizures and a profound impairment of GABAergic neuron maturation in several brain regions. Analysis of the transcriptome and TRα1 cistrome in the striatum allowed us to identify a small set of genes, the transcription of which is upregulated by TRα1 in GABAergic neurons and which probably plays an important role during post-natal maturation of the brain. Thus, our results point to GABAergic neurons as direct targets of thyroid hormone during brain development and suggest that many defects seen in hypothyroid brains may be secondary to GABAergic neuron malfunction. Honeycomb-layered phases Na3M2XO6 (M = Ni, Cu, Co; X = Sb, Bietc.) have been intensively pursued as high-voltage and high-rate capability cathode materials for Na-ion batteries (NIBs), but the crystal structure is not well elucidated. Herein, structural analysis was conducted on pristine Na3Ni2SbO6 material using electron microscopy and associated spectroscopies to reveal its crystallographic features. Experimental observations along multiple zone axes indicate that structural disorder is intrinsic in the pristine Na3Ni2SbO6, characteristic of randomly stacked layers with three variants of monoclinic structure. Stacking disorder is demonstrated by the non-vertical relationship of adjacent Ni2SbO6 layers in [100] zone axis, the different Ni/Sb atomic arrangements in [010] zone axis, and the Ni/Sb random overlap in [001] zone axis. The insight on the structural disorder may inspire studies on their phase transformations upon cycling and provide some clues to potentially solve the voltage/capacity decay problems of these honeycomb-layered materials. Emerging evidence demonstrates that radiotherapy induces immunogenic death on tumor cells that emit immunostimulating signals resulting in tumor-specific immune responses. However, the impact of tumor features and microenvironmental factors on the efficacy of radiation-induced immunity remains to be elucidated. Herein, we use a calibrated model of tumor-effector cell interactions to investigate the potential benefits and immunological consequences of radiotherapy. Simulations analysis suggests that radiotherapy success depends on the functional tumor vascularity extent and reveals that the pre-treatment tumor size is not a consistent determinant of treatment outcomes. The one-size-fits-all approach of conventionally fractionated radiotherapy is predicted to result in some overtreated patients. In addition, model simulations also suggest that an arbitrary increase in treatment duration does not necessarily result in better tumor control. Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a chronic neurodegenerative disease that often develops slowly and gradually deteriorates over time. However, which functions the lncRNAs perform in AD are almost unknown. In this study, we performed transcriptome analysis in AD, containing 12,892 known lncRNAs and 19,053 protein-coding genes (PCGs). Further, 14 down-regulated and 39 up-regulated lncRNAs were identified, compared with normal brain samples, which indicated that these lncRNAs might play critical roles in the pathogenesis of AD. In addition, 19 down-regulated and 28 up-regulated PCGs were also detected. Using the differentially expressed lncRNAs and PCGs through the WGCNA method, an lncRNA-mRNA co-expressed network was constructed. The results showed that lncRNAs RP3-522J7, MIR3180-2, and MIR3180-3 were frequently co-expressed with known AD risk PCGs. Interestingly, PCGs in the network are significantly enriched in brain- or AD-related biological functions, including the brain renin-angiotensin system, cell adhesion, neuroprotective role of THOP1 in AD, and so on. Furthermore, it was shown that 18 lncRNAs and 7 PCGs were highly expressed in normal brain tissue relative to other normal tissue types, suggesting their potential as diagnostic markers of AD, especially RP3-522J7, MIR3180-2, MIR3180-3, and CTA-929C8. The upregulation of a group of ribosome/RNA polymerase genes and a cluster of genes involving energy metabolism at transcriptomic level stood out for improved production of recombinant protein under SMG. The protein folding modulators such as chaperones were upregulated at proteomic level, which could be a result of the increased activity of protein synthesis and can help recombinant protein production. Protein export was also strengthened, which was revealed at both transcriptomic and proteomic levels. The results demonstrated that SMG is a favorable environment for recombinant protein production arousing the upregulation of protein synthesis, protein folding, and protein export.

The ecosystem and water quality of Terme River, an essential drinking and irrigation water source in the region, are at risk due to anthropogenic pressures. Therefore, the present study aim to present a comprehensive overview of the water quality state and pollution sources of the river. Some physicochemical water quality parameters were analyzed by standard methods along the surface water of river spatiotemporally. The concentrations of major elements and heavy metals (Na, Mg, K, Ca, Al, Cr, Fe, Co, Mn, Ni, Zn, Cd, Cu, Pb, As) were measured in water samples. Relationships between physicochemical data were assessed by using multivariate statistical analysis (MSA) methods. The order of the mean values of cations were as follow Ca2+ > Mg2+ > Na+ > K+ > NH4+ (32.66, 26.82, 13.29, 6.45, 0.305; mg/L), and order of anions SO42- > NO3- >F- > NO2- (7.88, 3.988, 1.01, 0.0316; mg/L). Increases in ion concentrations in the downstream zone have been monitored in the summer and autumn months. Average water quality index (WQI) 22, heavy metal pollution index (HPI) 15.61, heavy metal evaluation index (HEI) 0.78, and nutrient pollution index (NPI) 0.404 values indicated that the general water quality of Terme River was fine. All hazard quotient (HQ) and hazard index (HI) values in this study were calculated below the risk threshold ( less then 1). HI-total values (2.48E-01) in children were higher than in adults (2.14E-01). This suggests that children's health is at higher risk than adults. Principal component analysis (PCA) data formed four principal components (PCs) explaining 85.22% of the total variance. These PCs revealed that the significant changes in water quality occurred from point and diffuse sources, including rock types of the basin, soil erosion, domestic wastewater discharges, and agricultural flow of inorganic fertilizers.Recently, severe haze pollution has not only threatened human health and food security, but also seems to have aggravated the unscientific use of pesticides by rice farmers in rural areas of China. Using original data on haze pollution across China, combined with rural household survey data collected from 2014 to 2018, we conducted a detailed empirical study on the effects of haze pollution on pesticide use by rice farmers based on the theory of risk aversion. The empirical results revealed that haze pollution with higher levels of PM2.5 positively impacted the use of chemical pesticides in rice cultivation. More precisely, with each 100% increase in PM2.5 concentrations, the use of pesticide per mu increased by 7.9%, and the average pesticide cost per mu increased by 2.3%. The results were robust to a series of tests that addressed potential endogeneity concerns, including omitted variable bias, measurement error, and reverse causality. We then examined the heterogeneous effects of haze pollution increases on the use of chemical pesticides and found that for rice farmers without rice insurance, haze pollution has a stronger effect on pesticide use and a weaker effect on pesticide cost. However, for rice farmers with more experience in rice cultivation and small-scale rice planting, the effect of haze pollution on pesticide use and cost is relatively small. The poly(catechol) modification improved both the dispersity and the surface negative charges of Fe3O4/PCC MNPs, which are beneficial to the catalytic activity of MNPs for organic degradation. Moreover, the poly(catechol) modification enhanced the efficiency of Fe(II) regeneration during Fenton reaction due to the acceleration of Fe(III) reduction by the phenolic/quinonoid redox pair. As a result, the Fenton reaction with Fe3O4/PCC MNPs could efficiently degrade organic molecules, exampled by methylene blue (MB), in an expanded pH range between 3.0 and 10.0. https://www.selleckchem.com/mTOR.html In addition, Fe3O4/PCC MNPs could be reused up to 8 cycles for the MB degradation with negligible iron leaching of lower than 1.5 mg L-1. Carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae (CRE) has emerged as a global threat to hospitalization patients. Infected pancreatic necrosis (IPN) leads to high risks of CRE infections with increasing mortality. Our study aims to determine the predictors related to 90-day overall mortality of CRE IPN.
We retrospectively reviewed the drug resistance rates and clinical characteristics of CRE IPN patients from January 1, 2016, to January 1, 2021. Independent predictors of mortality were identified via univariate and multivariate analyses.
During the 5-year period, 75 IPN patients suffered from 135 episodes of CRE infections with mortality up to 50.7%. CRE strains were highly resistant (> 50%) to nine of ten common antibiotics, except tigecycline (18%). The most common pathogen was carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae (84 of 135). Lung was the main site of extrapancreatic infections, followed by bloodstream and biliary tract. The independent predictors of mortality were Sequential Organ Failure Assessmenic intervention for CRE IPN.
Grazing behavior is common in patients undergoing bariatric surgery (BS); however, little is known about grazing behavior in operated patients in the long term. We aimed to estimate grazing frequency and its association with weight loss and surgery response in patients who had undergone BS.
This cross-sectional study included 109 patients who had undergone Roux-en-Y gastric bypass at least 5 years previously. They answered questions about socioeconomic factors, surgical information, and adherence to treatment/follow-up. The Rep(eat) questionnaire was used for grazing assessment. Student's t-test and Pearson's chi-square test were used to evaluate differences between groups. Analysis of covariance and partial correlation were used to investigate grazing behavior, and weight loss outcomes were controlled for the elapsed time since BS, healthcare service type, current psychologist care status, and the presence of a constriction ring.

Infected pancreatic necrosis (IPN) leads to high risks of CRE infections with increasing mortality. Our study aims to determine the predictors related to 90-day overall mortality of CRE IPN. We retrospectively reviewed the drug resistance rates and clinical characteristics of CRE IPN patients from January 1, 2016, to January 1, 2021. Independent predictors of mortality were identified via univariate and multivariate analyses. During the 5-year period, 75 IPN patients suffered from 135 episodes of CRE infections with mortality up to 50.7%. CRE strains were highly resistant (> 50%) to nine of ten common antibiotics, except tigecycline (18%). The most common pathogen was carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae (84 of 135). Lung was the main site of extrapancreatic infections, followed by bloodstream and biliary tract. The independent predictors of mortality were Sequential Organ Failure Assessmenic intervention for CRE IPN. Grazing behavior is common in patients undergoing bariatric surgery (BS); however, little is known about grazing behavior in operated patients in the long term. We aimed to estimate grazing frequency and its association with weight loss and surgery response in patients who had undergone BS. This cross-sectional study included 109 patients who had undergone Roux-en-Y gastric bypass at least 5 years previously. They answered questions about socioeconomic factors, surgical information, and adherence to treatment/follow-up. The Rep(eat) questionnaire was used for grazing assessment. Student's t-test and Pearson's chi-square test were used to evaluate differences between groups. Analysis of covariance and partial correlation were used to investigate grazing behavior, and weight loss outcomes were controlled for the elapsed time since BS, healthcare service type, current psychologist care status, and the presence of a constriction ring. Migrant female sex workers (MFSW) are at a high and increasing risk of HIV infection and may also be a source of transmission. In Northern Thailand, most MSFW are Shan ethnic nationals from Myanmar. This study aims to understand how the risks of HIV infection and transmission are perceived and acted upon by Shan MFSW living with HIV who remain active in sex work. The paper employs a narrative approach, offering insight into the lives of eight Shan MFSW living with HIV in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Their risk behaviors are examined, from when they first entered sex work through to becoming HIV-positive and adopting antiretroviral treatment, as well as the reasons for continuing sex work. The findings reveal several ways in which stigmatized identities and life conditions influence risk perceptions and behaviors of Shan MFSW. Shan MFSW exemplify biopolitical vulnerability as female migrants, and sex workers in addition to living with HIV and the constraints of poverty, and limited education and skills. Understanding the complexities in their life conditions suggested several ways to improve care for them.This study examined how a racially and socioeconomically diverse group of caregivers of children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) responds to national standard measures of family-centered care (FCC) and care coordination (CC) and what aspects of quality care are missing from these measures. Based on survey and interview data collected from 70 caregivers who have a child with ASD that receive services at a community-based autism clinic located in Atlanta, GA, we compared proportions of answers to FCC and CC questions to national and state representative data using chi-square analyses and contextualized our findings through a thematic analysis of qualitative interviews. Compared to national- and state-level data, the Atlanta autism clinic data had a higher percentage of participants who identified as Black, relied on public health insurance, and lived below 200% of the federal poverty line. The Atlanta autism clinic responses were significantly more positive in four measures of FCC but significantly less effective in two CC measures, including a lower reported percentage who received CC and greater reported percentage who needed extra help. Qualitative data revealed a range of positive meanings and challenges associated with FCC and identified areas of help needed beyond CC, including physical and mental health care and emotional connection, especially for low-income single Black female caregivers. Our mixed-method approach identified strengths in FCC, barriers to CC, and suggestions for developing more pragmatic questions in national surveys that address experiences of quality-of-care among low-income, racial minority families of children with ASD.
During pulmonary segmentectomy, identification of the target segment is essential. We used bronchoscopic jet ventilation (BJV) to delineate the intersegmental plane by selectively sending air into the target segment. The purpose of this study was to investigate the factors associated with BJV failure.
Data were retrospectively collected from 48 patients who underwent pulmonary segmentectomy with BJV between March 2014 and May 2019 at a single center. Data were compared between BJV succeeded cases and failed cases.
In 13 cases (27%), BJV were unsuccessful. The Brinkman index was significantly higher in failed cases (962 ± 965 failed vs. https://www.selleckchem.com/products/OSI-906.html 395 ± 415 successful, P = 0.0067). We searched PubMed, Web of Science, and EBSCO (CINHAL®Complete) following PRISMA guidelines, using the search terms ("creative therapy" OR "art therapy") AND (child* OR adolescent OR teen*). We excluded review articles, articles which included adults, articles which were not written in English and articles without outcome measures. We identified 17 articles which are included in our review synthesis. We described these in two groups-ten articles regarding the treatment of children with a psychiatric diagnosis and seven regarding the treatment of children with psychiatric symptoms, but no formal diagnosis. The studies varied in terms of the type of art therapy/psychotherapy delivered, underlying conditions and outcome measures. Many were case studies/case series or small quasi-experimental studies; there were few randomised controlled trials and no replication studies. However, there was some evidence that art therapy or art psychotherapy may benefit children who have experienced trauma or who have post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) symptoms. There is extensive literature regarding art therapy/psychotherapy in children but limited empirical papers regarding its use in children attending mental health services. There is some evidence that art therapy or art psychotherapy may benefit children who have experienced trauma. Further research is required, and it may be beneficial if studies could be replicated in different locations.This work studies the effects of different bromide-based ionic liquids, with phosphonium and ammonium cations, towards several environmental biomodels Daphnia magna, Allivibrio fischeri, Raphidocelis subcapitata. Results indicate that toxicity clearly depends on the biomodel, Allivibrio fischeri being the least sensitive one while Daphnia magna is more severely affected in the presence of the studied ionic liquids. In most of the cases, phosphonium moieties are less toxic than ammonium ionic liquids. Furthermore, a prediction about the oral toxicity and carcinogenicity of the studied ionic liquids has been also carried out, showing that these chemical structures may suggest significant toxicity but not present genotoxic or nongenotoxic carcinogenicity.

Enzymes employ a wide range of protein motions to achieve efficient catalysis of chemical reactions. While the role of collective protein motions in substrate binding, product release, and regulation of enzymatic activity is generally understood, their roles in catalytic steps per se remain uncertain. Here, molecular dynamics simulations, enzyme kinetics, X-ray crystallography, and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy are combined to elucidate the catalytic mechanism of adenylate kinase and to delineate the roles of catalytic residues in catalysis and the conformational change in the enzyme. This study reveals that the motions in the active site, which occur on a time scale of picoseconds to nanoseconds, link the catalytic reaction to the slow conformational dynamics of the enzyme by modulating the free energy landscapes of subdomain motions. In particular, substantial conformational rearrangement occurs in the active site following the catalytic reaction. This rearrangement not only affects the reaction barrier but also promotes a more open conformation of the enzyme after the reaction, which then results in an accelerated opening of the enzyme compared to that of the reactant state. The results illustrate a linkage between enzymatic catalysis and collective protein motions, whereby the disparate time scales between the two processes are bridged by a cascade of intermediate-scale motion of catalytic residues modulating the free energy landscapes of the catalytic and conformational change processes.In this work, we employed broad-band dielectric spectroscopy to determine the solubility limits of nimesulide in the Kollidon VA64 matrix at ambient and elevated pressure conditions. The M-CDs prepared by calcein demonstrate three emissions, ultraviolet (UV), blue, and green, which are attributed to the solvent, surface defect, and precursor aromatic ring luminophores, respectively. Also, through a regular adjustment of the amount of NaOH or the solvothermal synthesis time, the expected optical requirements were successfully met by the M-CDs, which is a better capability than that of previously reported M-CDs. In addition, a multicolor sensor designed with M-CDs and rhodamine B (RhB) has been successfully applied in cell imaging. When exposed to different pH media, the fluorescence (FL) emission shows a linear relationship with the pH value, displaying a profuse color evolution from dark blue to light blue, cyan, green, yellow, and finally, orange.Electronic tattoos as an emerging epidermal electronic are alluring in the field of wearable electronics for their lightweight and noninvasive properties. However, the combination of flexibility, skin biocompatibility, adhesion, repairability, and erasability remains a challenge for fabricating electronic tattoos. Hence, a dynamic ionic liquid is prepared which is ideally suited for making an electronic tattoo with these challenging features at the same time. Such an intrinsically flexible electronic tattoo can be firmly attached to human skin with negligible irritation. More importantly, the existence of dynamic covalent chemistry provides the electronic tattoo with healing and erasable abilities under mild redox conditions. Owing to the high ionic conductivity of ionic liquids, the electronic tattoo exhibits excellent sensing performance in response to the temperature variation and tensile strain, which can intelligently monitor body temperature, pulse, and movement. As an extension of the application, a specially designed quadrilateral electronic tattoo can sense and distinguish multiple signals simultaneously. This concept of electronic tattoo based on the dynamic ionic liquid shows great potentials in the applications of intelligent wearable electronics.The crystalline porous organic framework offers a highly ordered and stable structure under hydrated conditions at high temperatures. Here, we demonstrated a method for preparing high-performance membrane buildup using "heterogeneous networks" and "polymer phase-separated nanochannels". A well-interconnected "nanochannel" with a "crystalline organic framework" forms a highly stable hybrid membrane above 80 °C under 100% hydration under acidic and basic conditions. The prepared structure provides a self-standing membrane that easily overcomes the problem faced by conventional high ion-exchange capacity (IEC)-based membranes such as swelling, gelling, fragility, and dissolving at elevated temperatures. Apart from structural stability, it also shows better chemical stability with enhanced proton conduction at elevated temperatures. This proton conduction with better structural stability in the high IEC sample confirms from thermal analysis, whereas it also offers relatively low in-plane membrane swelling as compared to the conventional membranes. These hybrid membranes were further combined with the FAA-3 membrane to manufacture a reverse electrodialysis system for generating a power output. We also evaluated the maximum power density (Pmax) of the stack theoretically and experimentally. The determined net power density (Pnet) is reported to be 0.45 W m-2 at a flow rate of 40 mL min-1. These results confirm that the developed membrane can withstand robustly under realistic ambient conditions maintaining stable cell performance.
