    Isoflurane is the only volatile anaesthetic agent licensed for equine use in the United Kingdom, but sevoflurane is also commonly used. The two agents have rarely been compared for use in clinical elective surgery.

    This single centre, prospective, randomised, blinded clinical investigation recruited 101 healthy client owned horses undergoing elective surgery. Anaesthesia was standardised and horses randomly assigned to receive isoflurane (I) or sevoflurane (S) for maintenance of anaesthesia in 100% oxygen. Horses were ventilated to normocapnia and received intravenous fluid therapy and haemodynamic support with dobutamine to maintain mean arterial blood pressure above 60mm Hg. Recovery was timed and video-recorded to allow offline evaluation by two experienced clinicians unaware of the volatile agent used. No post-anaesthetic sedation was administered.

    There was no significant difference between groups in terms of haemodynamic support required during anaesthesia nor in quality or duration of recovery. Inotropic support to maintain MAP above 60mm Hg was required by 67 of 101 (67%) of horses. Five horses in the I group required additional ketamine or thiopentone to improve the plane of anaesthesia.

To examine the neural mechanisms mediating this reflex interaction, we conducted two further experiments to probe potential contributions from (1) presynaptic inhibition, and (2) modulations at the ⍺- and γ-motoneuron pools. Results suggest the cutaneous interactions with the stretch reflex pathway required a modulation at the ⍺-motoneuron pool and were likely not mediated by presynaptic inhibition. These findings demonstrate that foot sole cutaneous information functionally tunes the stretch reflex pathway during the control of upright posture and balance.
    Infection is an important complication of epidermolysis bullosa (EB), and Staphylococcus aureus has been pointed out as the most common pathogen among this population. The objective of this study was to investigate the prevalence and antimicrobial resistance profile of S.aureus colonizing EB patients in Brazil.

    This cross-sectional multicenter study was conducted between December 2015 and December 2017. We included a total of 89 individuals with EB from medical centers across Brazil. Data were obtained through clinical and bacteriological investigation. S.aureus were identified by biochemical tests. The nuc and **** genes were confirmed by PCR assay. Antimicrobial susceptibility was investigated by disk diffusion method.

    The overall prevalence of S.aureus was 51.7% (46/89). Methicillin-resistant S.aureus (MRSA) was detected in 24.7% (19/77) of all S.aureus isolates, colonizing 15.7% (14/89) of all patients. Community-associated (CA)-MRSA strains were resistant against sulfamethoxazole/trimethoprim and ltherapeutic measures.Originally proposed for the analysis of prioritized composite endpoints, the win ratio has now expanded into a broad class of methodology based on general pairwise comparisons. Complicated by the non-i.i.d. structure of the test statistic, however, sample size estimation for the win ratio has lagged behind. In this article, we develop general and easy-to-use formulas to calculate sample size for win ratio analysis of different outcome types. In a nonparametric setting, the null variance of the test statistic is derived using U-statistic theory in terms of a dispersion parameter called the standard rank deviation, an intrinsic characteristic of the null outcome distribution and the user-defined rule of comparison. The effect size can be hypothesized either on the original scale of the population win ratio, or on the scale of a "usual" effect size suited to the outcome type. The latter approach allows one to measure the effect size by, for example, odds/continuation ratio for totally/partially ordered outcomes and hazard ratios for composite time-to-event outcomes.

  • Shared social identifications (family, community, nation, humanity) predict normative actions and psychological well-being and can be invoked discursively by leaders to mobilize their followers. We illustrate the potential for harnessing shared identities to mobilize resilient public responses against COVID-19. Study 1 explored which patterns of social identification predicted protective behaviors (personal hygiene, physical distancing), prosocial actions (helping proximal and distal others), and psychological well-being (mental well-being, depressive symptoms, anxiety) among 560 U.K. adults surveyed during lockdown. Study 2 contrasted Prime Minister Ardern's use of identity-based rhetoric to mobilize New Zealanders, with Prime Minister Johnson's use of individualistic appeals to the U.K. public. Our findings suggest how political leaders might beneficially use social identities in communications about extreme events.The COVID-19 pandemic is both a health and an economic crisis. Economically, lockdowns across Australia have devastated business and industry, creating immediate spikes in under- and unemployment. These impacts intersect with the precarious labour market of casualised and "gig" economy work, where young workers constitute an established and substantial group. While negatively impacting upon many young people's lives, in recent decades precarious employment has also been normalised for young people as they are encouraged to understand themselves as self-reliant and entrepreneurial in their working lives. Yet, these workers have been largely abandoned in the government's economic response to COVID-19. The economic impact and government response to the pandemic substantially disadvantage young people. This article analyses the impact of new government initiatives the "JobKeeper" wage subsidy scheme, "JobSeeker" payments and early access to superannuation, "JobMaker" economic recovery plan and the redesign of university fees. These initiatives compound preexisting youth policy of low welfare levels, youth wages and high university fees to economically burden young people. Contrasting the repeated expression of anything pandemic related as "unprecedented", we argue that the economic abandonment of young people in the immediate COVID-19 crisis continues a decades-long precedent in Australia of economically disadvantaging young people.The COVID-19 pandemic has posed the greatest challenge to the water sector in the 21st century. A recent roundtable discussion offers insights from a range of water professionals on the challenges they've faced and the strategies they've used to maintain operations.As the origin place of the COVID-19 outbreak, East Asian welfare states have largely survived the immediate health threats out of the pandemic shock but have yet to deal with its dire social consequences. This paper offers an institutionalist account-in terms of the institutional resilience of the welfare state-to grasp the policy dynamics in East Asia. We select four cases under scrutiny China, Japan, Korea and Taiwan, to analyse the major trend of social policy responses in this region. With a systematic comparison of the policy responses, in particular reference to the unemployment protection and social assistance that have arisen as the major crisis responses, we identify striking similarities in institutional arrangements but also some variation in policy approaches. Given the effective containment of the pandemic spread and the comprehensive social safety nets, region-wide measures such as consumption vouchers, prolonged unemployment benefits and emergency relief aids are of a one-shot nature that will fall off once this crisis abates. The common trend of social policy responses to the crisis is largely an extension, not replacement or reinvention, of the existing institutional edifice of the East Asian welfare state. However, the pandemic crisis may offer a window of opportunity for gradual institutional change in light of the exacerbating social inequalities.This article documents and compares the social policies that the governments in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) implemented to combat the first wave of COVID-19 pandemic by focusing on Hungary, Lithuania, Poland and Slovakia. We surveyed 4,245 participants from eight nations; three months later we re-contacted 1,262 participants from three nations. Belief in COVID-19 conspiracy theories was related to greater concerns about one's own safety, and lower concerns about the safety of close others. Furthermore, conspiracist ideation at Wave 1 predicted reluctance to take a COVID-19 vaccine at Wave 2, mediated through relative concern for self versus other. In sum, people who are high in conspiracy beliefs have relatively higher concern for the self relative to others, with troubling implications for public health.During the COVID-19 pandemic, people have been stuck indoors with their partners for months. Having a supportive partner is likely to be especially important during this time where access to outside sources of support is limited. The present mixed-methods study aimed to investigate how partner support is associated with goal outcomes during COVID-19. The survey participants (n=200) completed a daily diary for a week and five weekly longitudinal reports, and 48 participants attended a semi-structured interview. The quantitative results showed that higher relational catalyst support (i.e., support for growth opportunities) predicted better goal outcomes; qualitative analyses revealed partners use direct and indirect forms of emotional and instrumental support toward goal pursuit. This is important because most studies to date have not differentiated between direct and indirect forms of support. Overall, the findings suggest that having a supportive partner is important for not only surviving, but also thriving through the pandemic.

Mineral deposition produces a shortening of the transverse relaxation time which causes hypointensity on magnetic resonance (MR) imaging. The physician often has difficulties in determining whether the incidental hypointensity of grey nuclei seen on MR images is related to aging or neurodegenerative pathology. We investigated the hypointensity patterns in globus pallidus, putamen, caudate nucleus, thalamus and dentate nucleus of 217 healthy subjects (ages, 20-79 years; men/women, 104/113) using 3T MR imaging. Hypointensity was detected more frequently in globus pallidus (35.5%) than in dentate nucleus (32.7%) and putamen (7.8%). A consistent effect of aging on hypointensity (p less then 0.001) of these grey nuclei was evident. Putaminal hypointensity appeared only in elderly subjects whereas we did not find hypointensity in the caudate nucleus and thalamus of any subject. In conclusion, the evidence of hypointensity in the caudate nucleus and thalamus at any age or hypointensity in the putamen seen in young subjects should prompt the clinician to consider a neurodegenerative disease.
    Cardiac magnetic resonance-feature-tracking (CMR-FT)-based deformation analyses are key tools of cardiovascular imaging and applications in heart failure (HF) diagnostics are expanding. In this review, we outline the current range of application with diagnostic and prognostic implications and provide perspectives on future trends of this technique.

    By applying CMR-FT in different cardiovascular diseases, increasing evidence proves CMR-FT-derived parameters as powerful diagnostic and prognostic imaging biomarkers within the HF continuum partly outperforming traditional clinical values like left ventricular ejection fraction. These initial in vitro and in vivo results suggest that the TC mode could be potentially effective, and the LAAD could be a treatment option for HFpEF patients.

The physician often has difficulties in determining whether the incidental hypointensity of grey nuclei seen on MR images is related to aging or neurodegenerative pathology. We investigated the hypointensity patterns in globus pallidus, putamen, caudate nucleus, thalamus and dentate nucleus of 217 healthy subjects (ages, 20-79 years; men/women, 104/113) using 3T MR imaging. Hypointensity was detected more frequently in globus pallidus (35.5%) than in dentate nucleus (32.7%) and putamen (7.8%). A consistent effect of aging on hypointensity (p less then 0.001) of these grey nuclei was evident. Putaminal hypointensity appeared only in elderly subjects whereas we did not find hypointensity in the caudate nucleus and thalamus of any subject. In conclusion, the evidence of hypointensity in the caudate nucleus and thalamus at any age or hypointensity in the putamen seen in young subjects should prompt the clinician to consider a neurodegenerative disease.     The presence of donor-specific antibodies (DSAs) against HLA-DQB1 is considered a significant barrier to good outcome and allograft survival in kidney transplantation (KT). This study aimed to assess the impact of induction immunotherapy on the outcome and allograft survival in KT patients with HLA-DQB1-DSA.

    Thirty-two patients who had undergone KT and found to be positive for HLA-DQB1-DSA were monitored at least one to 10years. They were allocated into two groups of patients G1 received induction immunotherapy (n=14 patients; 43.75%), and G2 did not (n=18 patients; 56.25%).

  • The persistent difficulty of defining the mechanisms of interprofessional learning that can lead to collaborative behavior poses a challenge to evidence-based curricular design. To begin the process of building a framework for curricular development we used an inductive approach to better understand the lived experience of students engaged in an interprofessional activity. Utilizing methods from grounded theory, we analyzed reflective essays from an interprofessional classroom-based workshop for early learners at Case Western Reserve University. Students from four professional schools (medicine, nursing, social work, and dentistry) participated in facilitator guided small groups for an interactive, case-based, tabletop simulation workshop. Written reflections (N = 245) were collected, and a coding scheme was iteratively developed through constant comparison analysis in the review of a random subsample of essays (n = 19), and saturation was achieved in the second subset (n = 15). Second-order themes and four aggregate dimensions arose from the data. Aggregate dimensions were integrated into a proposed framework for the interprofessional learning process, including factors identified as necessary for the learning to occur. In this report, we describe the development of this preliminary framework, examine its components, and demonstrate potential utility in relation to established theory and research.The international wine market has been repeatedly hit by cases of fraud in recent decades. While several studies attested a special vulnerability of the fast growing wine business in China, reports on chemical analyses of commercial wine samples are rare. We examined 50 predominantly red wines with European labelling, which were purchased on the Chinese market, for fraud-relevant parameters. More than 20% of the tested samples revealed anomalies in relation to the stable isotope ratios of D/H, 18O/16O and 13C/12C, contents of technical glycerol by-products or anthocyanin composition. These results strongly suggested watering of the wines, chaptalisation, glycerol addition or the use of non-Vitis anthocyanin sources, respectively. Some of these samples also showed suspicious spelling errors or other irregularities in the labelling, but the majority appeared genuine to the eye. Hence, this spot check demonstrates the importance of chemical authenticity analysis of market samples in order to detect fraudulent products. Moreover, we used the same sample set for an evaluation of the Chinese standard method for carbon stable isotope determination of wine ethanol in comparison to the current OIV (International Organisation of Vine and Wine) standard method. This study aimed to identify a genomic instability-associated lncRNA signature to predict the outcome of patients with bladder cancer. We downloaded data for bladder cancer patients from The Cancer Genome Atlas database to obtain lncRNA expression profiles as well as somatic mutation profiles. Using the lncRNA computational framework, a genomic instability-related lncRNA signature (GIlncSig) was established and the prognostic value of this signature was assessed and validated. A five-lncRNA signature based on genomic instability (CFAP58-DT, MIR100HG, LINC02446, AC078880.3, and LINC01833) was obtained from 58 differentially expressed lncRNAs. Patients were divided into high-risk and low-risk groups, with the high-risk group having a substantially worse prognosis than the low-risk group. Univariate and multivariate Cox analyses indicated that GIlncSig may be an independent prognostic factor; this finding was subsequently validated. In addition, enrichment analysis indicated that GIlncSig is associated with genomic instability in bladder cancer. GIlncSig has a predictive value for the prognosis of bladder cancer patients and provides guidance for the clinical treatment of these patients.

    The persistent difficulty of defining the mechanisms of interprofessional learning that can lead to collaborative behavior poses a challenge to evidence-based curricular design. To begin the process of building a framework for curricular development we used an inductive approach to better understand the lived experience of students engaged in an interprofessional activity. Utilizing methods from grounded theory, we analyzed reflective essays from an interprofessional classroom-based workshop for early learners at Case Western Reserve University. Students from four professional schools (medicine, nursing, social work, and dentistry) participated in facilitator guided small groups for an interactive, case-based, tabletop simulation workshop. Written reflections (N = 245) were collected, and a coding scheme was iteratively developed through constant comparison analysis in the review of a random subsample of essays (n = 19), and saturation was achieved in the second subset (n = 15). Second-order themes and four aggregate dimensions arose from the data. Aggregate dimensions were integrated into a proposed framework for the interprofessional learning process, including factors identified as necessary for the learning to occur. In this report, we describe the development of this preliminary framework, examine its components, and demonstrate potential utility in relation to established theory and research.The international wine market has been repeatedly hit by cases of fraud in recent decades. While several studies attested a special vulnerability of the fast growing wine business in China, reports on chemical analyses of commercial wine samples are rare. We examined 50 predominantly red wines with European labelling, which were purchased on the Chinese market, for fraud-relevant parameters. More than 20% of the tested samples revealed anomalies in relation to the stable isotope ratios of D/H, 18O/16O and 13C/12C, contents of technical glycerol by-products or anthocyanin composition. These results strongly suggested watering of the wines, chaptalisation, glycerol addition or the use of non-Vitis anthocyanin sources, respectively. Some of these samples also showed suspicious spelling errors or other irregularities in the labelling, but the majority appeared genuine to the eye. Hence, this spot check demonstrates the importance of chemical authenticity analysis of market samples in order to detect fraudulent products. We downloaded data for bladder cancer patients from The Cancer Genome Atlas database to obtain lncRNA expression profiles as well as somatic mutation profiles. Using the lncRNA computational framework, a genomic instability-related lncRNA signature (GIlncSig) was established and the prognostic value of this signature was assessed and validated. A five-lncRNA signature based on genomic instability (CFAP58-DT, MIR100HG, LINC02446, AC078880.3, and LINC01833) was obtained from 58 differentially expressed lncRNAs. Patients were divided into high-risk and low-risk groups, with the high-risk group having a substantially worse prognosis than the low-risk group. Univariate and multivariate Cox analyses indicated that GIlncSig may be an independent prognostic factor; this finding was subsequently validated. In addition, enrichment analysis indicated that GIlncSig is associated with genomic instability in bladder cancer. GIlncSig has a predictive value for the prognosis of bladder cancer patients and provides guidance for the clinical treatment of these patients. RESULTS The results of this study showed an excellent correlation with both channels of the XN-9000 analyzer in samples with and without cold agglutinins, except for the MCHC. The bias between the values obtained in the I-channel and those obtained in the RET channel of both groups was insignificant and remained within the limits of acceptability, as reported by Ricos et al. for all considered parameters, except for MCHC. CONCLUSIONS The presence of cold agglutinins in blood samples can be detected by a spurious lowering of the RBC count and by a spurious increase in the MCHC. Hence, this study investigated the effects of Caripill™ as an additive in Tyrode's buffer during extended platelet storage. METHODS Platelets isolated from 4 months old male Wistar rats were stored with Caripill™ (50 and 100μg/ml) at 22°C for 12 days. Platelet functional and metabolic markers and various OS markers were analyzed on days 0, 4, 8 and 12. RESULTS Caripill™ (50 and 100μg/ml) maintained platelet functions and lactate dehydrogenase, elevated nitrites, reduced glucose consumption, protected proteins and up-regulated the antioxidant enzymes. However, the CP100 up-regulated catalase from day 4, elevated nitrites from day 8, prevented the formation of secondary products of lipid peroxidation and increased the total antioxidant capacity on day 4. CONCLUSIONS Caripill™ reduced platelet storage lesion up to day 8 of storage. Results suggest that a higher concentration of Caripill™ was more effective in combating the oxidative damage during platelet storage. For the study, total numbers of 182 patients with FMF disease were enrolled and screening of a panel of genes including 17 genes, called "fever panel", was performed. The most common mutations in MEFV gene were homozygous M694V missense mutation (4.3%) and R202Q missense mutation (4.9%). The most common heterozygous mutations were R202Q (26.5%), M694V (25.9%) and E148Q (11.9%). Compound heterozygous and homozygous mutations were also detected. Also, different types of mutations were identified in NOD2, CARD14, NLRP12, NLRP3, NLRP7, IL1RN, LPIN2, TNFRSF1A, MVK and PSTPIP1 genes. Two novel missense variations in the MEFV gene, Gln34Pro and Ile247Val, which have not been previously reported in the databases, were identified. Also, Thr91Ile missense variation in the NOD2 gene, Gly461Cys missense variation in NLRP3 and Tyr732Stop nonsense variation in LPIN2 were firstly identified. The degree of polymorphism, i.e., DNA sequence divergence, of short AT-rich tandemly arranged simple sequence repeats at or near promoters and 5'- untranslated regions of mRNA may quantitatively regulate transcription of tissue-specific genes. Less polymorphic repeats allow greater gene expression. Preferential binding of hypophosphorylated H1 histone to these repeats may diminish binding of transcription factors. Preferential binding of hypophosphorylated high mobility group chromatin proteins would increase this binding.   • Sedentary lifestyles plague today's society in terms of physical, psychosocial and cognitive health. Students are particularly at risk because they spend most of their daily time sitting and inactive. The current pedagogical model must be rethought in order to promote students' health, well-being and therefore their success. The objective of this project was to equip one classroom of the sport science department at a university with various active workstations (standing desks, Swiss *****, cycling desks, pedal- or stepper-board) and to evaluate the feasibility and influence of these types of active workstations on the cognitive and psychological factors of the students, and to collect the feedback of lecturers during this experience.

    Participation in the study was voluntary and students had the opportunity to choose or not to use an active workstation during lectures. A total of 663 students and 14 lecturers completed a survey to evaluate subjective feelings about physical, psycho-cognitive and academic alp prevent the deleterious effect of sedentary behaviour and promote a more active daily life for the future.
    To explore the safety and effectiveness of delayed occlusion of the proximal inferior vena cava (DOPI) technique in retroperitoneal laparoscopic radical nephrectomy (LRN) and thrombectomy for renal tumor with level II-III venous tumor thrombus (VTT).

    From August 2016 to October 2018, a total of 145 patients with renal tumor and VTT were admitted to our centre. Seventy-five patients underwent laparoscopic surgery, and 70 patients underwent open surgery. Among these patients, 17 patients underwent retroperitoneal LRN and thrombectomy with the DOPI technique. Clinical data were collected retrospectively, and a descriptive statistical analysis was conducted.

    All the patients successfully underwent retroperitoneal laparoscopic surgery. The mean operation time was 345.9 ± 182.9 min, the mean estimated blood loss was 466.7 ± 245.5 ml. Postoperative complications occurred in three patients, including two patients of Clavien grading system level IVa and one patient of level II. There were no complications related to carbon dioxide pneumoperitoneum, such as gas embolism, acidosis, and subcutaneous emphysema. During 21 months of median follow-up time, no local recurrence was found, and distant metastasis occurred in four patients. Cancer-specific death occurred in two patients.

    Rectal mucosal melanoma (RMM) is a rare and highly aggressive disease with a poor prognosis. Due to the rarity of RMM, there are few studies focusing on its genetic mechanism. This retrospective study aimed to analyze the genetic spectrum and prognosis of RMM in China and lay a foundation for targeted therapy.

    36 patients with primary RMM from Peking University CancerHospital were enrolled in this study. The Next-generation sequencing (NGS) data of the tumor samples were fitted into the TruSight™ Oncology 500 (TSO500) Docker pipeline to detect genomic variants. Then, the univariate and multivariate Cox hazard analysis were performed to evaluate the correlations of the variants with the overall survival (OS), along with Kaplan-Meier and log-rank test to determine their significance.

    BRAF mutations, NRG1 deletions and mitotic index were significant prognostic factors in the univariate analysis. In multivariable analysis of the OS-relatedprognostic factors in primary RMM patients, it revealed 2 significant alterations BRAF mutations [HR 7.732 (95%CI 1.735-34.456), P= 0.007] and NRG1 deletions [HR 14.976 (95%CI 2.305-97.300), P=0.005].

    This study aimed to explore the efficacy and safety of sintilimab combined with induction chemotherapy (IC) in locally advanced head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) patients.

    A total of 163 patients were prospectively enrolled; 98 patients received IC only, and 65 patients received IC with sintilimab. Following neoadjuvant therapy, patients either underwent surgery (31.9%) or chemoradiotherapy (68.1%). Objective response rate (ORR), progression free survival (PFS), overall survival (OS), and toxicities between the two groups were compared.

    The ORR in the IC group was significantly lower than that in the IC with sintilimab group (68.4% vs 84.6%, P = 0.019). Grade 3 or higher acute toxicity occurred in 15 (15.3%) and 12 (18.5%) patients in the IC and IC with sintilimab groups, respectively. However, this difference was not significant (P = 0.596). After follow-up with a median time of 28.0 months, the IC group had a 2-year PFS rate of 27% (95%CI 18-36%), whereas the IC with sintilimab group had a 2-year PFS rate of 44% (95%CI 32-56%), and this difference was significant (P = 0.041). The 2-year OS rates in the IC and IC with sintilimab groups were 61% (95%CI 52-70%) and 70% (95%CI 60-80%), respectively, the difference was not significant (P = 0.681).

The Next-generation sequencing (NGS) data of the tumor samples were fitted into the TruSight™ Oncology 500 (TSO500) Docker pipeline to detect genomic variants. Then, the univariate and multivariate Cox hazard analysis were performed to evaluate the correlations of the variants with the overall survival (OS), along with Kaplan-Meier and log-rank test to determine their significance. BRAF mutations, NRG1 deletions and mitotic index were significant prognostic factors in the univariate analysis. This study aimed to explore the efficacy and safety of sintilimab combined with induction chemotherapy (IC) in locally advanced head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) patients. A total of 163 patients were prospectively enrolled; 98 patients received IC only, and 65 patients received IC with sintilimab. Following neoadjuvant therapy, patients either underwent surgery (31.9%) or chemoradiotherapy (68.1%). Objective response rate (ORR), progression free survival (PFS), overall survival (OS), and toxicities between the two groups were compared. The ORR in the IC group was significantly lower than that in the IC with sintilimab group (68.4% vs 84.6%, P = 0.019). Grade 3 or higher acute toxicity occurred in 15 (15.3%) and 12 (18.5%) patients in the IC and IC with sintilimab groups, respectively. However, this difference was not significant (P = 0.596). After follow-up with a median time of 28.0 months, the IC group had a 2-year PFS rate of 27% (95%CI 18-36%), whereas the IC with sintilimab group had a 2-year PFS rate of 44% (95%CI 32-56%), and this difference was significant (P = 0.041). The 2-year OS rates in the IC and IC with sintilimab groups were 61% (95%CI 52-70%) and 70% (95%CI 60-80%), respectively, the difference was not significant (P = 0.681). Addition of sintilimab to IC could provide longer PFS time than traditional chemotherapy regimen, without increasing the toxicity events. It is often observed that the last fully connected (FC) layers of convolutional neural network possess higher discrimination power as compared to the convolutional and maxpooling layers whose goal is to preserve local and low-level information of the input image and down sample it to avoid overfitting. This work investigates the significance of using structured text features rather than unstructured and shallow text features. It also discusses the use of opinion extraction techniques. In addition, it emphasizes the use of domain knowledge with both approaches of textual feature extraction. Furthermore, it highlights the significance of deep neural network based prediction techniques to capture the hidden relationship between textual and numerical data. This survey is significant and novel as it elaborates a comprehensive framework for stock market prediction and highlights the strengths and weaknesses of existing approaches. It presents a wide range of open issues and research directions that are beneficial for the research community.Modern software development and operations rely on monitoring to understand how systems behave in production. The data provided by application logs and runtime environment are essential to detect and diagnose undesired behavior and improve system reliability. However, despite the rich ecosystem around industry-ready log solutions, monitoring complex systems and getting insights from log data remains a challenge. Researchers and practitioners have been actively working to address several challenges related to logs, e.g., how to effectively provide better tooling support for logging decisions to developers, how to effectively process and store log data, and how to extract insights from log data. A holistic view of the research effort on logging practices and automated log analysis is key to provide directions and disseminate the state-of-the-art for technology transfer. In this paper, we study 108 papers (72 research track papers, 24 journals, and 12 industry track papers) from different communities (e.g., machine learning, software engineering, and systems) and structure the research field in light of the life-cycle of log data. Our analysis shows that (1) logging is challenging not only in open-source projects but also in industry, (2) machine learning is a promising approach to enable a contextual analysis of source code for log recommendation but further investigation is required to assess the usability of those tools in practice, (3) few studies approached efficient persistence of log data, and (4) there are open opportunities to analyze application logs and to evaluate state-of-the-art log analysis techniques in a DevOps context.Global average temperature had been significantly increasing during the past century, mainly due to the growing rates of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, leading to a global warming problem. Many research works indicated other causes of this problem, such as the anthropogenic heat flux (AHF). Cloud computing (CC) data centers (DCs), for example, perform massive computational tasks for end users, leading to emit huge amounts of waste heat towards the surrounding (local) atmosphere in the form of AHF. Out of the total power consumption of a public cloud DC, nearly 10% is wasted in the form of heat. In this paper, we quantitatively and qualitatively analyze the current state of AHF emissions of the top three cloud service providers (i.e., Google, Azure and Amazon) according to their average energy consumption and the global distribution of their DCs. In this study, we found that Microsoft Azure DCs emit the highest amounts of AHF, followed by Amazon and Google, respectively. We also found that Europe is the most negatively affected by AHF of public DCs, due to its small area relative to other continents and the large number of cloud DCs within. Accordingly, we present mean estimations of continental AHF density per square meter. Following our results, we found that the top three clouds (with waste heat at a rate of 1,720.512 MW) contribute an average of more than 2.8% out of averaged continental AHF emissions. Using this percentage, we provide future trends estimations of AHF densities in the period [2020-2100]. In one of the presented scenarios, our estimations predict that by 2100, AHF of public clouds DCs will reach 0.01 Wm-2.

    This qualitative study used interviews conducted between August 2019 and February 2020, by phone, video and email, to explore how clinicians assessed capacity in people requesting MAiD, what challenges they had encountered and what tools they used. The participants were recruited from provider mailing listserves of the Canadian Association of MAiD Assessors and Providers and Aide médicale à mourir.     We performed a population-based cohort study of all births from April 2012 to March 2017 using multiple linked health administrative databases. We used Cox regression with a time-dependent exposure variable to estimate adjusted hazard ratios (HRs) for preterm birth (< 37 wk), very preterm birth (< 32 wk) and stillbirth. We assessed remaining outcomes (gestational hypertension, chorioamnionitis, postpartum hemorrhage, severe postpartum hemorrhage, being small for gestational age, neonatal intensive care unit stay > 24 h, composite neonatal morbidity) using log-binomial regression to generate adjusted risk ratios (RRs). We adjusted estimates for potentiutcomes in mothers or infants. Ongoing evaluation in Canada is needed as maternal Tdap vaccination coverage increases in coming years.

    Medical cannabis has been legally available in Canada since 2001, but its benefits and harms remain uncertain. We explored attitudes toward medical cannabis among family physicians practising in Ontario.

    Between January and October 2019, we conducted a qualitative study of Ontario family physicians using semistructured telephone interviews. We applied thematic analysis to interview transcripts and identified representative quotes.

    Eleven physicians agreed to be interviewed, and 3 themes regarding medical cannabis emerged reluctance to authorize use, concern over harms and lack of practical knowledge. Participants raised concerns about the limited evidence for, and their lack of education regarding, the therapeutic use of cannabis, particularly the harms associated with neurocognitive development, exacerbation of mental illness and drug interactions in older adults. Some participants thought medical cannabis was overly accessible and questioned their role following legalization of recreational cannabis.

This spectacular expansion is reflected in the dynamism and diversity of the fungal cell wall, a matrix of polysaccharides and glycoproteins pivotal to fungal life history strategies and a major target in the development of antifungal compounds. Cell wall polysaccharides are typically synthesized by Leloir glycosyltransferases, enzymes that are notoriously difficult to characterize, but their nucleotide-sugar substrates are well known and provide the opportunity to inspect the monosaccharides available for incorporation into cell wall polysaccharides and glycoproteins. In this work, we have used phylogenomic analyses of the enzymatic pathways that synthesize and interconvert nucleotide-sugars to predict potential cell wall monosaccharide composition across 491 fungal taxa. The results show a complex evolutionary history of these cell wall enzyme pathways and, by association, of the fungal cell wall. In particular, we see a significant reduction in monosaccharide diversity during fungal evolution, most notably in the colonization of terrestrial habitats. However, monosaccharide distribution is also shown to be varied across later-diverging fungal lineages.IMPORTANCE This study provides new insights into the complex evolutionary history of the fungal cell wall. We analyzed fungal enzymes that convert sugars acquired from the environment into the diverse sugars that make up the fundamental building blocks of the cell wall. Species-specific profiles of these nucleotide-sugar interconverting (NSI) enzymes for 491 fungi demonstrated multiple losses and gains of NSI proteins, revealing the rich diversity of cell wall architecture across the kingdom. Pragmatically, because cell walls are essential to fungi, our observations of variation in sugar diversity have important implications for the development of antifungal compounds that target the sugar profiles of specific pathogens.
