A series of hybrid adsorbents were produced by surface modification with amino polycarboxylate ligands of industrially available microparticles (MP) of Kromasil® mesoporous nanostructured silica beads, bearing grafted amino propyl ligands. Produced materials, bearing covalently bonded functions as EDTA and TTHA, original Kromasil®, bearing amino propyl ligands, and bare particles, obtained by thermal treatment of Kromasil® in air, were characterized by SEM-EDS, AFM, FTIR, TGA and gas sorption techniques. Adsorption kinetics and capacity of surface-modified particles to adsorb Rare Earth Elements (REE), crucial for extraction in recycling processes, were evaluated under dynamic conditions, revealing specificity matching the ligand nature and the size of REE cations. A detailed comparison with earlier reported adsorbents for REE extraction was presented. The cytotoxicity was assessed using four different types of healthy cells, human skeletal muscles derived cells (SKMDC), fibroblast cells, macrophage cells (RAW264.7), and human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs), indicating lower toxicity of ligand-free MP than MP bearing amino poly-carboxylate functions. The aromatic skeleton of TMU-44 is based on phenyl rings while TMU-45 aromatic skeleton is extended by replacement of phenyl with naphthyl core. Measurements reveal that these MOFs are highly sensitive to phenolic NACs especially 2,4,6-trinitrophenol (TNP) with high quenching efficiency of 90% for TMU-44 (KSV = 10,652 M-1, LOD = 6.9 ppm) and 99% for TMU-45 (KSV = 34,741 M-1, LOD = 2.07 ppm). The present study aimed at developing a dimensionally stable anode (DSA), made of titanium metal foil coated with Ruthenium Dioxide (RuO2), for the electrochemical oxidation of hydrogen peroxide in the presence of strong sulfuric acid under ambient conditions. Results showed that hydrogen peroxide in the piranha solution was fully degraded in 5 h under a constant current of 2 A (or current density of 0.32 A-cm-2). The oxidation kinetics of hydrogen peroxide followed the Langmuir-Hinshelwood model. The observed rate constant was a function of applied current. The initial current efficiency was 17.5% at 0.5 A (or 0.08 A-cm-2) and slightly decreased to about 13.5% at applied current between 1.3 and 1.5 A (or current density of 0.208 and 0.24 A-cm-2). Results showed the capability and feasibility of the electrochemical oxidation process for the recovery of sulfuric acid from the spent piranha solution in semiconductor industrial installations or general laboratories.Cellulose aerogels achieve excellent absorption of waste oil and organic pollutant, which has received lots of attention recently. It is still a big challenge to obtain aerogels with both high cost-effectiveness and advanced oil absorption performance, since it is a time-consuming, and environmentally unfriendly process to obtain cellulose, compared with direct usage of natural fibers. In this manuscript, we develop highly porous and hydrophobic kapok/microfibrillated cellulose (MFC) aerogels with a dual-scale hierarchically porous structure at micro-level as cost-effective, sustainable, and floating superabsorbents via simple vacuum freeze-drying and surface modification. Kapok, a natural hollow fiber, has been recently considered as a new sustainable resource for oil cleanup. By partially replacing ****with chopped kapok fibers in ****aerogels (MMAs), the resultant kapok/****aerogels (KCAs) exhibit ultralow density (5.1 mg/cm-3), ultrahigh porosity (99.58%) and hydrophobicity (140.1°) leading to advanced oil sorption (130.1 g/g) that is 25.3% higher than that of MMAs. In addition, these KCAs can rapidly and selectively absorb waste oil from oil-water mixture with ultrahigh absorption ability of 104-190.1 g/g, which is comparable to other environmentally unfriendly and high-cost aerogels. Furthermore, the KCAs own excellent reusability and sustainability. These benefits enable the KCAs a suitable alternative to clean oil spills.Though we often "fear the worst", worrying that unexpectedly bad things will happen, there are times when we "hope for the best", imagining that unexpectedly good things will happen, too. The paper explores how the valence of the current situation influences people's imagining of unexpected future events when participants were instructed to think of "something unexpected". In Experiment 1, participants (N = 127) were asked to report unexpected events to everyday scenarios under different instructional conditions (e.g., asked for "good" or "bad" unexpected events), and manifested a strong negativity bias in response to non-valenced instructions (i.e., being asked to "think of the unexpected" with no valence given). They mainly reported quite "predictable" unexpected outcomes that were negative; however, a post-test (N = 31) showed that the scenarios used were predominantly positive. In Experiment 2 (N = 257), when participants were instructed to think of "something unexpected and bizarre", under the same instructional manipulations as Experiment 1, this negativity bias was replicated.

Blastocystis spp. is a common single-celled intestinal symbiont, comprising several genetic subtypes (ST) and transmissible by animal-to-animal, human-to-human, animal-to-human and, possibly, human-to-animal routes. This work was designed to explore the presence of Blastocystis in sympatric domestic and wild suids and their ability to carry zoonotic STs, in a condition of widespread opportunity to come in contact with the microorganism through their shared water and food resources, and other carriers. We sampled 42 and 37 stool samples from wild boars and domestic pigs, respectively. STs were first identified by PCR followed by Sanger sequencing. Sequences represented in double-band PCR products or in Sanger chromatograms displaying multiple peaks, were resolved by next generation sequencing (NGS). Twenty-six (61.9%) wild boar and 26 (70.2%) pig samples were PCR-positive, respectively. https://www.selleckchem.com/products/atn-161.html ST3, ST5 and ST15 were found in 3.8%, 38.4% and 80.8% of the positive wild boars and 11.5%, 88.5%, 11.5% of the positive pigs, respectively. We found significantly different ST distributions among wild boars and domestic pigs. Based on the STs described here, wild boars and domestic pigs can act as reservoirs with zoonotic potential. The ability of suids to carry zoonotic STs appears to be higher when using NGS than Sanger sequencing, and resolution of complex sequencing profiles is imperative before excluding the presence of STs of human concern.A cross-sectional systematic sampling was carried out during three consecutive winters from 2012 to 2015, to update the knowledge on the fox tapeworm (Echinococcus multilocularis) distribution in the red fox (Vulpes vulpes) in Flanders. Earlier studies reported the low endemicity status of this tapeworm in the northern region of Belgium, in contrast to the south of the country and neighbouring countries. Using a modified Segmental Sedimentation and Counting Technique, followed by PCR-RFLP and sequencing, 923 foxes' intestines were examined for the presence of E. multilocularis. Based on microscopic examination, 38 out of 923 foxes were suspected to be infected with either E. multilocularis or Amoebotaenia spp., of which 19 were molecularly confirmed to be E. multilocularis, 18 were found positive for Amoebotaenia spp. and one was negative. The overall prevalence for E. multilocularis of 2.1% confirms the low endemicity of the fox tapeworm in Flanders. However, in one area in the most eastern part of Flanders (Voeren), neighbouring the Netherlands and Wallonia, a prevalence of 57% (12/21) was observed. Continuous monitoring of the fox tapeworm remains needed to assess spatio-temporal trends in distribution and to assess the risk of this zoonotic infection in Europe. The challenging differential diagnosis of E. multilocularis and Amoebotaenia spp. based on microscopic examination calls for attention.This study aimed to determine the prevalence, histopathological observations, and phylogenetic analysis of L. serrata in cattle and its potential zoonotic and public health implications in southeastern Iran.The cross-sectional study was performed in cattle in southeastern Iran. Lymph nodes were collected from each cattle and examined by parasitological and histopathological techniques. A binary logistic regression and chi-square tests were implemented to analyze the data. Genomic DNA was randomly extracted from the nymphal stages of Linguatula isolates. Further characterization and phylogenetic relationships were done using two primers for amplification of partial DNA fragments of 18 s rRNA and cytochrome C oxidase subunit 1 (cox1), respectively.The results showed that 64 cattle of the total 404 were infected with L. serrata. There was no significant difference between linguatulosis infection and gender, while age was significantly different (P less then 0.05). The cyst-like spaces containing the longitudinal and transverse sections of the L. serrata nymphs were surrounded by granulomatous reactions. The higher nucleotide variation in the cox1 region was supported by estimating the evolutionary divergence between L. serrata isolates and other Linguatula records of ruminants in Iran. The phylogenetic tree confirmed the close evolutionary relationships among all reported records of L. serrata in Iran.The high prevalence of linguatulosis caused by L. serrata declares the existence of a potential risk of FBPs for humans in southeastern Iran. This condition can advance more serious public health problems and requires a comprehensive control program and treatment strategies to prevent the disease.Aspartyl protease inhibitors (APIs) from parasitic intestinal nematodes are highly immunogenic and have been suggested as potential vaccine antigens. Ac-API-1 from Ancylostoma caninum showed strong immunogenicity and its polyclonal antibodies could specifically recognize the excretory/secretory products of adult worms. However, little is known about molecular characteristics and biological function of API from Ancylostoma ceylanicum (Ace-API). In this study, the Ace-API mature peptide coding sequence was cloned and expressed, and molecular characteristics of its full length sequence were analyzed. Ace-API cDNA was 684 bp in length, which encoded 228 amino acids. The similarity of the Ace-API amino acid sequence to Ac-API-1 and Adu-API-1 was 96.93% and 96.49%, respectively, and they clustered together in the phylogenetic tree. Escheria coli-expressed recombinant protein was mainly soluble in the supernatant of bacterial cell lysate. Western blot showed that Ace-API protein had good reactivity to the serum of infected dogs. Pepsin inhibition assay revealed that the recombinant protein had inhibitory activity on pepsin. Immunofluorescence results demonstrated that Ace-API was mainly localized to the epidermis, excretory glands, and pseudocoelomic fluid of the adult. Using the quantitative real-time PCR, the expression of Ace-api mRNA in adults was significantly higher than that in the third stage (L3) larvae. Together, these data indicate that Ace-API is secreted extracellularly by the parasite, and might play a role in protecting the parasite against the proteolytic digestion by the host proteases, which stimulate further studies to explore this protein as a potential hookworm vaccine candidate.

In the crystal, hydrogen bonds between the pyridine mol-ecule and the water mol-ecule, viz. Ohy-droxy-H⋯Owater, Ohy-droxy-H⋯Ohy-droxy, Owater-H⋯Ohy-droxy and Owater-H···Npyridine, result in the formation of a ribbon-like structure running along [011].The asymmetric unit of the title compound, (NH4)2[Ni(C2H6N4O2)3]2[Cr(C2O4)3]2·6.76H2O, comprises two NH4+ cations, two [Ni(C2H6N4O2)3]2+ cations and two [Cr(C2O4)3]3- anions, as well as eight water mol-ecules of crystallization of which only one is fully occupied. In the cationic and anionic complexes, the central atoms (NiII and CrIII) are each surrounded by three bidentate ligands (N-chelating oxamide dioxime and O-chelating oxalate, respectively), resulting in distorted octa-hedral coordination spheres. In Experiment 3, using a design in which positive/negative materials were matched (verified by a pre-test, N = 60), it was found that when participants (N = 102) were given negative scenarios, they reported more positive events than they do when they are given positive scenarios. Though responding still retained an overwhelming negative bias, this result provided some evidence for a weaker valence-countering strategy; that is, where a negative scenario can lead to positive unexpected events being mentioned, and a positive scenario leads to negative unexpected events being reported. The implications of these results for people's projections of unexpected futures in their everyday lives is discussed.
Careful evaluation of the progression trend of the metabolic syndrome (MetS) in children and adolescents (C&A) is one of the important methods of studying the natural history of MetS in them. This study was performed to determine the trend of changes in the progression of MetS from its components.
This was a longitudinal study which was performed on data from 4 follow-up periods of Tehran Lipid and Glucose Study (TLGS) between 1999 and 2015. The research population consisted of 6-18-year-old children and adolescents creating 3895-person population. The criteria for the diagnosis of MetS was joint interim statement (JIS). The considered components were central adiposity, high blood pressure, insulin resistance, and dyslipidemia.

The level of exposure to submicron particles and the dose received by the populations of Accra (Ghana), Cairo (Egypt), Florianopolis (Brazil), and Nur-Sultan (Kazakhstan) were analyzed. A direct exposure assessment approach was adopted to measure the submicron particle concentration levels of volunteers at a personal scale during their daily activities. Non-smoking adult volunteers performing non-industrial jobs were considered. Exposure data were combined with time-activity pattern data (characteristic of each population) and the inhalation rates to estimate the daily dose in terms of particle surface area. The received dose of the populations under investigation varied from 450 mm2 (Florianopolis, Brazil) to 1300 mm2 (Cairo, Egypt). This work highlights the different contributions of the microenvironments to the daily dose with respect to high-income western populations. It was evident that the contribution of the Cooking & Eating microenvironment to the total exposure (which was previously proven to be one of the main exposure routes for western populations) was only 8%-14% for low- and middle-income populations. In contrast, significant contributions were estimated for Outdoor day and Transport microenvironments (up to 20% for Cairo, Egypt) and the Sleeping & Resting microenvironment (up to 28% for Accra, Ghana), highlighting the effects of different site-specific lifestyles (e.g. time-activity patterns), habits, socioeconomic conditions, climates, and outdoor air quality.Herein, we report the optimization of nitrogen (N) doping in TiO2 nanotubes to achieve the enhanced photocatalytic efficiencies in degradation of dye and H2 gas evolution under solar light exposure. TiO2 nanotubes have been produced via hydrothermal process and N doping has been tuned by varying the concentration of urea, being the source for N, by solid-state dispersion process. The structural analysis using XRD showed the characteristic occupancy of N into the structure of TiO2 and the XPS studies showed the existence of Ti-N-Ti network in the N-doped TiO2 nanotubes. The obtained TEM images showed the formation of 1D tube-like structure of TiO2. Diffuse reflectance UV-Vis absorption spectra demonstrated that the N-doped TiO2 nanotubes can efficiently absorb the photons of UV-Vis light of the solar light. The optimized N-doped TiO2 nanotubes (TiO2 nanotubes vs urea @ 11 ratio) showed the highest degradation efficiency over methyl orange dye (∼91% in 90 min) and showed the highest rate of H2 evolution (∼19,848 μmol h-1.g-1) under solar light irradiation. Further, the recyclability studies indicated the excellent stability of the photocatalyst for the durable use in both the photocatalytic processes. The observed efficiency was ascribed to the optimized doping of N-atoms into the lattices of TiO2, which enhanced the optical properties by forming new energy levels of N atoms near the valence band maximum of TiO2, thereby increased the overall charge separation and recombination resistance in the system. The improved reusability of photocatalyst is attributed to the doping-induced structural stability in N-doped TiO2. From the observed results, it has been recognized that the established strategy could be promising for synthesizing N-doped TiO2 nanotubes with favorable structural, optical and photocatalytic properties towards dye degradation and hydrogen production applications.

BRF2 deletions are predominant in this age group.

Peritoneal dialysis-associated peritonitis can uncommonly be caused by fungal infections. When they do present, they are associated with significant mortality and morbidity. We describe a case where a sample of peritoneal dialysate fluid grew Rhodotorula muciliginosa, a yeast organism present in the normal environment which has previously been reported as rarely causing peritonitis. We believe this is the first case where the Rhodotorula spp. and its origin has been identified.

This paper explores strategies to engage community stakeholders in efforts to address the effects of traffic-related air pollution (TRAP). Communities of color and low-income communities are disproportionately impacted by environmental threats including emissions generated by major roadways.
Qualitative instrumental case study design was employed to examine how community-level factors in two Massachusetts communities, the City of Somerville and Boston's Chinatown neighborhood, influence the translation of research into practice to address TRAP exposure. Guided by the Interactive Systems Framework (ISF), we drew on three data sources key informant interviews, observations and document reviews. Thematic analysis was used.
Findings indicate political history plays a significant role in shaping community action. In Somerville, community organizers worked with city and state officials, and embraced community development strategies to engage residents. In contrast, Chinatown community activists focused on imm translate research to practice. However, although municipal stakeholders are increasingly sympathetic to and aware of the health impacts of TRAP, there was not a local legislative or regulatory precedent on how to move some of the proposed TRAP-related policies into practice. As such, we found that pairing the ISF with a community organizing framework may serve as a useful approach for examining the dynamic relationship between science, community engagement and environmental research translation. Social workers and public health professionals can advance TRAP exposure mitigation by exploring the political and social context of communities and working to bridge research and community action.

Based on theoretical innovation, the overall research model was preliminarily put forward. Combining economic benefit, social benefit and ecological benefit, the advantages and disadvantages of these planting patterns were compared. The ecological principles of B.striata simulative cultivation are analyzed in detail, as follows(1) thromote the sustainable development of B.striata industry.The study aims at exploring the composition and characteristics of the medicinal plant resources of six major ethnic minorities living in Xishuangbanna, as well as the characteristics of traditional utilization of ethnic medicine, and promote the rational protection and inheritance and utilization of ethnic medicine resources and traditional knowledge. Based on the fourth survey of traditional Chinese medicine resources in Xishuangbanna, Yunnan province, through the methods of literature collection, interviewing and field investigation, this paper analyzed the data of the types, medicinal parts and attending diseases of medicinal plant resources of Dai, Hani, Jinuo, Wa, Lahu and Bulang nationalities. The results showed that there were 1 048 medicinal plant resources of the six ethnic minorities, and the medicinal plants were 735, 497, 272, 295, 280 and 49 in the six nationalities, respectively. The cross-use of medicinal plants among the six nationalities accounted for 62.45%, 78.07%, 88.60%, 87.46%, 82.25% and 95.92%, respectively. The main medicinal plants used by the six major ethnic minorities are root and rhizome, whole grass, leaf and stem. Various ethnic medicinal plants are mainly used in the treatment of diseases of digestive system, respiratory system, rheumatic disease, trauma, snake and insect bite and other external diseases. This study showed that Xishuangbanna has rich resources of ethnic medicinal plants. The ethnic medicine culture with Dai medicine as the main part has a long history and diversified theories, forming a unique ethnic characteristic culture. To assess the association between chemotherapy and prognosis of patients with breast cancer of luminal A subtype and lymph node-positive, luminal A subtype breast cancer METHODS Articles published between January 1, 2010, and May 1, 2020, were collected from PubMed, Embase, and Web of Science databases. On the basis of a test for heterogeneity, we selected the random effects model or fixed effects model for meta-analysis. Article quality was evaluated by sensitivity analysis, and Begg's and Egger's tests were used to measure publication bias.
Six eligible articles were identified. The hazard ratio of overall survival of luminal A breast cancer patients who received both chemotherapy and endocrine therapy was 1.73 (95% CI 1.23, 2.43). The hazard ratio of overall survival for lymph node-positive, luminal A breast cancer patients who received chemotherapy and endocrine therapy was 1.86 and 95% CI 1.26, 2.81. The hazard ratio of relapse-free survival to disease-free survival was 1.30 (95% CI 0.85, 1.77). Tumor size, vascular invasion, and age did not show significant correlations with breast cancer prognosis.
Compared with endocrine therapy alone, the addition of chemotherapy did not improve the prognosis of patients with luminal type A and lymph node positive cancer; instead, side effects of the additional chemotherapy may have negatively affected prognosis. Prospective studies are needed to determine whether the number of positive lymph nodes also correlates with efficacy of chemotherapy of luminal type A breast cancer.

Primary health care (PHC) was a keystone toward achieving universal health coverage and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). China has made efforts to strengthen its PHC institutions. As part of such efforts, regular in-service training is crucial for primary healthcare workers (PHWs) to strengthen their knowledge and keep their skills up to date.
To investigate if and how the existing training arrangements influenced the competence and job satisfaction of PHWs in township hospitals (THs).
A mixed method approach was employed. We analyzed the associations between in-service training and competence, as well as between in-service training and job satisfaction of PHWs using logistic regression. Interviews were recorded, transcribed, and analyzed using NVivo12 to better understand the trainings and the impacts on PHWs.
The study found that training was associated with competence for all the types of PHWs except nurses. The odds of higher competence for physicians who received long-term training were 3.60g opportunities and improve the quality of training.
Considering existing evidence that competence and satisfaction serve as two major determinants of health workers' performance, to further improve PHWs' performance, it is necessary to provide sufficient training opportunities and improve the quality of training.

Our simulations show that in the presence of membrane bilayers, EGCG has a preference to bind to the membrane, and this binding alters the binding modes between Aβ42 protofibril and the lipid bilayer, leading to a reduced membrane thinning, indicative of a protective effect of EGCG on the membrane. We attempted to explore the early impact of short-term glucose load on HbA1c levels, because it is now known that transmembrane GLUT1-mediated glucose transport occurs immediately. A total of 88participants (46patients and 42clinically healthy controls) underwent fasting plasma glucose quantitation during an OGTT. HbA1c, revealed by a monoclonal anti-glycation epitope antibody and adiponectow, for the first time, that HbA1c levels do not significantly increase during OGTT, supporting the view that non-enzymatic glycation of hemoglobin occurs slowly and that glycation during the 2 hours of an OGTT is insignificant.The optimal planning of preoperative diagnosis, management and treatment of pituitary tumors (PT) candidates to pituitary surgery (PS) requires a multidisciplinary approach involving a team of endocrinologists, neurosurgeons, ENT, neuro-ophthalmologists and neuroradiologists with experience in pituitary diseases. Such teams improve surgical results, minimize complications and facilitate their correct treatment if occurring, and optimize the hormonal, ophthalmological and radiological preoperative and follow-up evaluation. We have developed a clinical practice protocol for patients with PT who are candidates to PS based on the most recent national and international guidelines and the relevant literature regarding PT published in the last years. The protocol has been elaborated by a multidisciplinary team of a Spanish Pituitary Tumor Center of Excellence (PTCE) that includes at least one neurosurgeon, ENT, neuroradiologist, neuro-ophthalmologist, endocrine pathologist and endocrinologist specialized in pituitary diseases. This article will focus on our current knowledge on the potential utility of mass spectrometry for diagnosis of both the nature of an adrenal tumors and their secretion.Several cases of Pneumocystosis pneumonia (PCP) have been reported in patients with hypercortisolism, mainly in patients with severe ectopic ACTH syndrome (EAS). We report 2 cases of PCP that did not develop until after starting treatment with metyrapone, one of which occurred in an outpatient with Cushing's disease (CD) without pulmonary symptoms before medical treatment for CD. Patient 1 presented as an outpatient with CD and severe hypercortisolism but nonetheless in good general condition. Treatment with metyrapone was started before pituitary surgery. Patient 2 had EAS due to prostate cancer. Respiratory failure in the two patients occurred 4 days and 30 days, respectively, after the start of metyrapone treatment. In both cases, chest CT showed bilateral interstitial infiltrates, and Pneumocystis jirovecii was found on bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL). A literature review was performed to identify risk factors for PCP in patients with CD we identified 20 other cases of PCP in patients treated for hypercortisolism, including 16 patients with EAS.

This article will focus on our current knowledge on the potential utility of mass spectrometry for diagnosis of both the nature of an adrenal tumors and their secretion.Several cases of Pneumocystosis pneumonia (PCP) have been reported in patients with hypercortisolism, mainly in patients with severe ectopic ACTH syndrome (EAS). We report 2 cases of PCP that did not develop until after starting treatment with metyrapone, one of which occurred in an outpatient with Cushing's disease (CD) without pulmonary symptoms before medical treatment for CD. Patient 1 presented as an outpatient with CD and severe hypercortisolism but nonetheless in good general condition. Treatment with metyrapone was started before pituitary surgery. Patient 2 had EAS due to prostate cancer. Respiratory failure in the two patients occurred 4 days and 30 days, respectively, after the start of metyrapone treatment. In both cases, chest CT showed bilateral interstitial infiltrates, and Pneumocystis jirovecii was found on bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL). This cross-sectional study was conducted among 1067 mothers and their 36-60-month-old children in childcare centers in Tehran, using multistage sampling. Data gathering tools consisted of a demographic questionnaire for mothers and children, a questionnaire on unhealthy behaviors, Ages and Stages Questionnaire, Economic and Social Status Questionnaire, Perceived Social Support Questionnaire, Perceived Stress Questionnaire, Spielberger Anxiety Inventory, **** Depression Inventory, ENRICH Marital Satisfaction Scale, and Participation Scale for Parents and Mothers.
Model fit measures were suitable and goodness of fit (RMSEA = 0.031, GFI = 1) was satisfactory. In addition, the results of path analysis indicated that the participation of mothers in the development of children had a direct positive (ß = 0.089) and increasing effect.
Findings indicated that depression, anxiety, stress, and marital satisfaction have both direct and indirect effects on the participation of mothers and child development. Moreover, the model fit measures indicated the utility and high proportionality of the model, as well as the logic of the adjusted relationships of variables based on the conceptual model.

After the screening, the screen-positive cases were clinically assessed by a child psychiatrist and a child developmental psychologist. The total sample included 2467 toddlers; the mean total score of Q-CHAT was 30.64 (SD 9.133).
According to the clinical examinations, 6 cases met the criteria for autism (equal to 5.8% of screen-positive cases and 0.25% of the total sample), and 18 cases had a high probability of autism or other neurodevelopmental disorders.

The current study aimed to examine the effect of the combined administration of active vestibular interventions and occupational therapy on balance and the relationship between balance changes and Activity of Daily Living in school-aged children with cerebral palsy (CP).
Twenty-four children with Spastic CP, at the level I and II (according to the "Gross Motor Function Classification System) aged 7-12 years were enrolled and randomly assigned into control and intervention groups. Pediatric Balance Scales and Bruininks-Oseretsky Test of Motor Proficiency II were employed to assess the functional balance changes as well as Force Plate (eyes closed and open) to assess changes in the parameters of balance (e.g. center of pressure excursion). The activity of Daily Living was assessed by "Activity Scales for Kids (performance version)". Participants in the intervention group received active vestibular intervention for 20 min and a regular occupational therapy program for 25 min. The control group received a regular occupational therapy program for 45 min.

In late December 2019, COVID-19, a new emerging disease, quickly spread in Wuhan, China. The WHO formally declared it a pandemic and a health emergency on March 11th, 2020. The objective of this article is to specify and list key points in relation to the recommendations issued by the different colleges, and global surgical societies, for the benefit of the Mexican medical and surgical community. Based on scientific evidence, we make recommendations for medical consultations, surgical and endoscopic procedures, hospital infrastructure, and surgical services, in addition to a proposal to reopen surgical services and elective procedures related to the COVID-19 pandemic. The time to take leadership in healthcare where the national health system together with academic societies, universities and private initiative join forces to combat the pandemic has arrived. It is convenient to form collaboration groups of experts in the different specialties that through innovation in health and education, with evidence-based medicine, efficiency of operational costs and tools such as telemedicine, allow us to return to daily surgical procedures, reestablishing the surgery services as soon as possible.
The endoscopic video capsule (EVC), a minimally invasive method of study of the gastrointestinal system indicated in occult gastrointestinal bleeding, has as main complication the retention of endoscopic capsule (CR), currently it is managed with direct extraction using double-balloon enteroscopy; however, when it fails due to its location or associated pathologies, the surgical intervention results in the most successful approach.

To evaluate LNR as a prognostic factor for disease-free survival (DFS) in patients with oral squamous cell carcinoma.
Retrospective observational study. Patients with oral squamous cell carcinoma undergoing resection and lymph node dissection. Chi squared, Kaplan-Meier, log rank and Cox regression tests were run; bilateral p ≤ 0.05 determined statistical significance.
88 patients were included, 45% (n = 40) men and 54% (n = 48) women, mean age of 60.42 (± 14.28) years. Main tumor location in tongue (75%); 61% in clinical stage I-III and 39% in clinical stage IV. Population was divided into LNR < 0.06 (58%) and LNR ≥ 0.06 (42%). The median DFS was not reached for both groups (p = 0.018). Predictors of DFS were the LNR (p = 0.024; hazard ratio [HR] 2.20; confidence interval of 95% [95% CI] 1.11-4.39) and the clinical stage (p = 0.004; HR 1.76; 95% CI 1.19-2.59). In the multivariate analysis, predictors were not maintained (p = 0.227 and 0.191, respectively).

In Hospital regional ISSSTE Puebla from July 2013 to July 2018, 30 consecutive patients with different pancreas and biliary pathologies have been operated by totally laparoscopic, by the same surgeon and surgical team, and following for up to 4 years.
None all the patients presented sever complications during surgery or after immediate surgery and no reoperations. Surgical time and blood loss was acceptable.
The results we obtained are positive and encouraging because the morbidity and mortality are similar to the different sources we reviewed, nevertheless, this study is our initial experience and we required more cases to obtain a significant sample.

During the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) outbreak, a decrease of stroke's hospital admissions and reperfusion therapy has been reported worldwide. This retrospective observational study assessed the volume of stroke cases managed in the Emergency Department (ED) and reperfusion therapies in an Italian stroke network with a high incidence of COVID-19, particularly to evaluate if the in-hospital rerouting and the switch from a drip-and-ship to a mothership model could assure an adequate volume of acute treatments.
We compared data from March 2020 with those from previous years and formulated five PICO questions regarding (1) incidence of stroke cases in the ED; (2) relation between stroke cases and COVID-19; (3) differences in the number of reperfusion therapies, (4) in the call-to-needle and door-to-needle times for intravenous thrombolysis, and (5) in the call-to-groin and door-to-groin times for thrombectomy.
We found (1) a 28% decreased of confirmed stroke cases managed in the ED, (2) a negative correlation between stroke cases in ED and COVID-19 progression (r
= - .390, p = .030), and (3) a similar number of treatments in March 2020 and March 2019. The adoption of the mothership model (4) did not delay alteplase infusion (median call-to-needle p = .126, median door-to-needle p = .142) but led to (5) a significant reduction in median call-to-groin (p = .018) and door-to-groin times (p = .010).

Here, we aimed to compare mutation frequency in coexisting ATC and DTC diagnosed concurrently in the same thyroid gland (3 cases) as well as in archetypal DTC and ATC alone (5 cases each). Single-nucleotide variations (SNV) and copy number variations (CNV) were analyzed in each case based on the next-generation sequencing data. We found a similar extent of mutational events, both SNV and CNV, in undifferentiated and differentiated components of thyroid cancers coexisting in one patient. The magnitude of these mutations was comparable to the level of mutations observed in ATC alone; yet, it was **** higher than in archetypal DTC. This suggested that, despite histopathological features of differentiated tumors, molecular characteristics of such cancers coexisting with ATC and archetypal DTC could be significantly different. Also, edaravone induced an antioxidant activity by diminishing the levels of lipid peroxidation, protein carbonylation, and protein nitration in the mitochondrial membranes. Edaravone blocked the ZnO NPs-induced transcription factor nuclear factor-κB (NF-κB) upregulation. The inhibition of the heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) enzyme by zinc protoporphyrin IX (ZnPP IX, 10 μM) smothered the preventive impacts brought about by edaravone with respect to mitochondrial function and inflammation. During the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) outbreak, a decrease of stroke's hospital admissions and reperfusion therapy has been reported worldwide. This retrospective observational study assessed the volume of stroke cases managed in the Emergency Department (ED) and reperfusion therapies in an Italian stroke network with a high incidence of COVID-19, particularly to evaluate if the in-hospital rerouting and the switch from a drip-and-ship to a mothership model could assure an adequate volume of acute treatments. We compared data from March 2020 with those from previous years and formulated five PICO questions regarding (1) incidence of stroke cases in the ED; (2) relation between stroke cases and COVID-19; (3) differences in the number of reperfusion therapies, (4) in the call-to-needle and door-to-needle times for intravenous thrombolysis, and (5) in the call-to-groin and door-to-groin times for thrombectomy. We found (1) a 28% decreased of confirmed stroke cases managed in the ED, (2) a negative correlation between stroke cases in ED and COVID-19 progression (r = - .390, p = .030), and (3) a similar number of treatments in March 2020 and March 2019. The adoption of the mothership model (4) did not delay alteplase infusion (median call-to-needle p = .126, median door-to-needle p = .142) but led to (5) a significant reduction in median call-to-groin (p = .018) and door-to-groin times (p = .010). The "hospital avoidance" of stroke patients during the "stay-at-home" appeals needs to be considered for future public health campaigns.
