Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) is an effective psychological treatment for anxiety-related disorders (anxiety disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder, and obsessive-compulsive disorder). However, relapse of anxiety symptoms is common following completion of treatment. This study aimed to identify predictors of relapse of anxiety after CBT for adult (18+) patients to enable the identification of "at-risk" patients who could potentially benefit from relapse prevention interventions. A systematic review and meta-analysis were conducted, including studies found in PsycINFO, PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science, and through hand-searches of references lists and reverse citations. Nine studies met eligibility criteria (N = 532 patients). On average, 23.8% of patients experienced relapse following completion of CBT. A total of 21 predictors were identified and grouped into seven categories residual symptoms; personality disorders; medication; clinical features; stressful life-events; degree of improvement; and demographics. A meta-analysis of residual symptoms as a predictor of relapse yielded a moderate but non-significant-pooled effect size (r = 0.35; 95% CI -0.21, 0.74, p =.08). Further research with adequately powered samples and standardised operationalisations of relapse are required to identify robust predictors.Comparative study of the complexes of groove-binding ligand Hoechst 33258 (H33258) with synthetic homopolynucleotides poly(rA)-poly(rU) and poly(dA)-poly(dT) has been carried out at various concentration ratios of r = ligand/nucleic acids (NA) and different ionic strengths of the water-saline solution 0.02, 0.04 and 0.1 M, using the method of UV-melting. It was revealed that the melting curves of the complexes of poly(dA)-poly(dT) with H33258 at the low concentrations of ligand are biphasic, which actually does not depend on the solution ionic strength. In the case of the complexes of poly(rA)-poly(rU)-H33258, the melting curves become quasi-biphasic only at the ionic strength 0.02 M and relatively high concentrations of the ligand. Differential melting curves (DMC) of the mentioned polynucleotides and their complexes with H33258 were obtained as well. DMC of poly(rA)-poly(rU) were found to be significantly wide at the ionic strengths of the solution 0.02 and 0.04 M and to show an intrinsic heterogeneity of double-stranded structure of this polynucleotide. A description of the sociodemographic, violence, and psychopathological characteristics of the sample was carried out. Moreover, a comparison of all the variables studied between batterer men with and those without CFV was conducted. The results showed that 35.2% (n = 500) of the sample reported having been victims of CFV (67.2% of them directly suffered abuse, and 32.8% witnessed violence between their parents, mainly from father to mother). Batterers with CFV presented with more irrational beliefs both about women and about violence as a strategy to cope with everyday difficulties. Moreover, they had significantly higher scores than batterers without CFV on all psychopathological symptoms as assessed by the SCL-90-R, as well as on most of the STAXI-2 subscales. In the logistic regression analysis, the main variables related to having a history of CFV were low education level, voluntary access to the program, having a previous psychiatric history, being an immigrant, having children, and presenting a greater number of psychopathological symptoms. According to these results, batterers with CFV showed a higher severity in most of the variables studied than those without CFV. Consequently, these findings highlight the importance of tailoring batterer treatment programs to their specific characteristics, particularly those regarding childhood victimization.The article examines the recent individual level extensions to Institutional Anomie Theory. It explores if a marketized mentality is important to the development of a violent street code that encourages violence as a method of self-enhancement, as well as a factor directly leading to violence. Further, it investigates if the impact of the marketized mentality on violence is moderated by risk-taking and violent peers. It controls for other important factors associated with violence including physical abuse, homelessness, violent victimization, and social bonds. The research utilizes self-report data from interviews with 400 Canadian homeless youth aged 16-24. Results from the OLS regressions indicated that a marketized mentality, along with risk-taking, violent peers, violent victimization, and social bonds predicted levels of support for the street code. The marketized mentality had a direct effect on violence, as well as an indirect effect through the street code. The effect of marketized mentality on violence was also stronger at higher levels of risk-taking and violent peer association. Physical abuse, violent victimization, risk-taking, and violent peers also had direct effects on violence. The findings suggest that a marketized mentality can be adopted even in economically marginal populations leading to the development of violent strategies to fulfill goals. The outbreak of pneumonia caused by novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) in Wuhan, China, at the end of 2019 quickly escalated into a global health emergency. Since its outbreak until the 29th of April 2020, the pandemic has affected more than 3 million of people and caused 207,973 deaths globally. SARS-CoV-2 belongs to the β-coronavirus genus of the Coronavirus family, and it shares the same subfamily with severe acute respiratory syndrome-associated coronavirus (SARS-CoV) and Middle East respiratory syndrome-associated coronavirus (MERS-CoV), all of which lead to severe pneumonia. For cancer patients, especially those with lung cancers, their immune systems are compromised due to the disease itself as well as the treatment for cancer. The weakened immunity of these patients puts them at a higher risk of not only developing diseases but severe diseases. In this study, through a literature review and data collection, we focus on the selection and consideration of antitumor treatment strategies for advanced lung cancer during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) epidemic.
Olfactory dysfunction in upper airway viral infections (common cold, acute rhinosinusitis) is common (> 60%). During the COVID-19 outbreak, frequency of sensory disorders (smell and/or taste) in affected patients has shown a high variability from 5 to 98%, depending on the methodology, country, and study.
A sudden, severe, isolated loss of smell and/or taste, in the absence of other upper airway inflammatory diseases (allergic rhinitis, chronic rhinosinusitis, nasal polyposis), should alert individuals and physicians on being potentially affected by COVID-19. The evaluation of smell/taste disorders with a visual analogue scale or an individual olfactory or gustatory test, at the hospital or by telemedicine, to prevent contamination might facilitate an early detection of infected patients and reduce the transmission of SARS-CoV-2. An increasing number of patients receive antiplatelet therapy. Patients exposed to surgery while receiving platelet inhibitors hold an increased bleeding risk. Especially in neurosurgery and neurocritical care patients, bleeding and hematoma expansion are feared complications as even minor bleedings may be hazardous. The objective of this systematic review was to investigate the effect of desmopressin (1-deamino-8-D-arginine vasopressin, DDAVP) on platelet function during antiplatelet therapy in patients undergoing non-cardiac surgery, patients who experience spontaneous or traumatic hemorrhage, healthy individuals and in animals.
Studies were identified through a systematic literature search in PubMed and EMBASE on August 19, 2019, with an update on May 2, 2020, and from reference lists of the included studies. Data on clinical and biochemical effect of DDAVP were extracted from included studies for a qualitative data synthesis.
In total, 22 studies were included 18 human studies and four animal studieeffect of DDAVP in management of patients with spontaneous or traumatic hemorrhage, or undergoing neurosurgery, while receiving antiplatelet therapy.
Management after cerebral arteriovenous malformation (AVM) rupture aims toward preventing hemorrhagic expansion while maintaining cerebral perfusion to avoid secondary injury. We investigated associations of model-based indices of cerebral autoregulation (CA) and autonomic function (AF) with outcomes after pediatric cerebral AVM rupture.
Multimodal neurologic monitoring data from the initial 3days after cerebral AVM rupture were retrospectively analyzed in children (< 18years). AF indices included standard deviation of heart rate (HRsd), root-mean-square of successive differences in heart rate (HRrmssd), low-high frequency ratio (LHF), and baroreflex sensitivity (BRS). CA indices include pressure reactivity index (PRx), wavelet pressure reactivity indices (wPRx and wPRx-thr), pulse amplitude index (PAx), and correlation coefficient between intracranial pressure pulse amplitude and cerebral perfusion pressure (RAC). Percent time of cerebral perfusion pressure (CPP) below lower limits of autoregulation ( neurophysiologic model-based indices. Prospective work is needed to assess these indices of CA and AF in clinical decision support.

Arteries were exposed to intraluminal NVS treatment consisting of a compound (4 amino-1,8-naphthalimide) photoactivated by a 450-nm light-emitting light fiber placed inside the artery. This procedure results in covalent linking between the extracellular matrix proteins to achieve a larger vessel diameter post-angioplasty and minimizing elastic recoil. Immediately following NVS treatment, rings were cut from the treated arteries and mounted in organ baths for contractility testing in response to U46619 and sodium nitroprusside. We also investigated the effect of NVS treatment on IL-6 cytokine release from vascular rings following a 4-h organoculture post-NVS treatment. Based on our results, we conclude that exposure of the vessels to NVS treatment does not adversely affect the contractile responsiveness of the vascular smooth muscle and exerts no pro-inflammatory effect.

The aim of the study was to characterize the epidemiology and treatment outcomes of head and neck (HN) osseous-site tumors.
Descriptive analyses and multivariate Cox regressions were performed to analyze the effect of surgery on overall survival (OS) utilizing the National Cancer Database (2004-2016).
Of 2449 tumors, surgery was utilized in 84.5% of cases. OS was worse in osteosarcoma (5-year OS 53.4% [SE 2.5%]) compared with cartilage tumors (5-year OS 84.6% [SE 1.8%]) (log-rank P < .001). Treatment regimens that included surgery were associated with improved OS on multivariate analysis (hazard ratio [HR] 0.495 [95% CI 0.366-0.670]). Positive margins were found in 40.8% of cases, and associated with decreased OS in osteosarcomas (HR 1.304 [0.697-2.438]).

To determine the physicochemical stability of ziconotide solutions for intrathecal administration in the Medication Cassette Reservoir (MCR).
A stability indicating UPLC-DAD method was developed and validated according to the ICH guidelines. Two mixtures of ziconotide (0.40 μg/mL and 0.60 μg/mL) stored in MCR stored at 25 ± 2°C were evaluated for 14 days and compared to the initial observed concentrations.
The physicochemical stability of the two solutions was demonstrated for two days thanks to relative concentrations, pH measurement, visual inspections, and turbidity assays. A degradation product was observed and increased during the study.

The aim of the study was to characterize the epidemiology and treatment outcomes of head and neck (HN) osseous-site tumors. Descriptive analyses and multivariate Cox regressions were performed to analyze the effect of surgery on overall survival (OS) utilizing the National Cancer Database (2004-2016). Of 2449 tumors, surgery was utilized in 84.5% of cases. OS was worse in osteosarcoma (5-year OS 53.4% [SE 2.5%]) compared with cartilage tumors (5-year OS 84.6% [SE 1.8%]) (log-rank P < .001). Treatment regimens that included surgery were associated with improved OS on multivariate analysis (hazard ratio [HR] 0.495 [95% CI 0.366-0.670]). Positive margins were found in 40.8% of cases, and associated with decreased OS in osteosarcomas (HR 1.304 [0.697-2.438]). Treatment that included surgery was associated with an increased OS within our cohort of HN osseous-site tumors, although the rates of positive margins were >40%. Functional hypothalamic amenorrhea (FHA) occurs in response to exaggerated stressors with or without body weight loss. Various hormones, neurotransmitters, and neuromodulators are involved in the control of GnRH and kisspeptin is one of them. Our study aimed to evaluate the putative temporal coupling between kisspeptin and GnRH-induced LH pulsatile secretion.
In total, 71 patients with FHA were selected for this study. All patients undergo to a pulsatility study for LH and kisspeptin evaluation (120 min, sampling every 10 min), and to an endocrine evaluation for prolactin (PRL), estradiol (E2), androstenedione (A), 17-hydroxy-progesterone (17OHP), TSH, fT3, fT4, insulin, cortisol and testosterone (T), glucose, total cholesterol, triglycerides.
Our data demonstrated kisspeptin and LH pulsatile secretions and that both hormones are co-secreted and temporally coupled at time 0 (p < 0.05). Handgrip strength (HGS) is an excellent marker of functional capability and health in adults, although little is known about temporal trends in adult HGS.
The aim of this study was to systematically analyze national (country-level) temporal trends in adult HGS, and to examine the relationships between national trends in adult HGS and national trends in health-related and socioeconomic/demographic indicators.
Data were obtained from a systematic search of studies reporting temporal trends in HGS for adults (aged ≥ 20years) and by examining national fitness datasets. Trends in mean HGS were estimated at the country-sex-age group level by best-fitting sample-weighted linear/polynomial regression models, with national and sub-regional (pooled data across geographically similar countries) trends estimated by a post-stratified population-weighting procedure. Pearson's correlations quantified relationships between national trends in adult HGS and national trends in health-related and socioeconomic/demographic indicators.
Data from ten studies/datasets were extracted to estimate trends in mean HGS for 2,592,714 adults from 12 high- and 2 upper-middle-income countries (from Asia, Europe and North America) between 1960 and 2017. National trends were few, mixed and generally negligible pre-2000, whereas most countries (75% or 9/12) experienced negligible-to-small declines ranging from an effect size of 0.05 to 0.27, or 0.6 to 6.3%, per decade post-2000. Sex- and age-related temporal differences were negligible. National trends in adult HGS were not significantly related to national trends in health and socioeconomic/demographic indicators.
While trends in adult HGS are currently limited to 14 high- and upper-middle-income countries from three continents, adult HGS appears to have declined since 2000 (at least among most of the countries in this analysis), which is suggestive of corresponding declines in functional capability and health.

Even from a young age, modern soccer requires high levels of physical fitness development, particularly jumping and sprinting. Plyometric jump training (PJT), combined with young athletes' regular soccer sessions, has the potential to improve jumping and sprinting. However, studies exploring the effects of PJT are generally limited by small sample sizes. This problem of underpowered studies may, thus, be resolved by pooling study results in a meta-analysis.

In cross-country skiing, the repetitive ventilation of large amounts of cold and dry air strains the airways. The aim of this systematic review was to establish an overview of the current literature on asthma in cross-country skiers, biathletes and ski-orienteers.
Six databases were searched on August 29, 2019. The search yielded 2161 articles. Thirty articles fulfilled the search criteria and were pooled together for a qualitative synthesis. Eight articles were included in the meta-analysis on the prevalence of asthma and the use of asthma medication.
According to the meta-analysis, the prevalence of self-reported physician-diagnosed asthma in skiers was 21% (95% CI 14-28%). The onset age of asthma was higher in skiers than in non-skiers with asthma. The prevalence of asthma medication use was on average 23% (CI 95% 19-26%). Several studies reported that asthma was underdiagnosed in skiers, as previously healthy skiers without a prior asthma diagnosis or medication use were frequently found to fulfill diagnostic criteria for asthma according to lung function tests.

We detected elevated activation of both CD4+ and CD8+ T cells in HLA-DR15 donor-reconstituted humanized **** at steady state, even when compared to immune compartments carrying HLA-DRB1*0401 (HLA-DR4), which is associated with other autoimmune diseases. Increased CD8+ T cell expansion and activation was also observed in HLA-DR15 donor-reconstituted humanized **** after EBV infection. Despite this higher immune activation, EBV viral loads were less well controlled in the context of HLA-DR15. Indeed, HLA-DR15-restricted CD4+ T cell clones recognized EBV-transformed B cell lines less efficiently and demonstrated cross-reactivity toward allogeneic target cells and one MS autoantigen. Hydatid disease or cystic echinococcosis (CE) is caused by the larval stages of the cestode parasite Echinococcus granulosus. The objectives of this study were to estimate the prevalence of seropositivity and to identify the risk factors associated with the disease among humans in Khartoum State, Central Sudan.
A cross-sectional study was conducted between November 2017 and April 2018. A total of 305 randomly selected consenting participants from three localities were included in the current investigation using a multistage probability sampling method. An in-house enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay was used to detect immunoglobulin G antibodies to E. granulosus. The χ2 test and logistic regression analysis were used to determine the risk factors associated with CE seropositivity.
A seroprevalence of 6.5% (20/305) was recorded among humans in Khartoum State, Central Sudan. Age (odds ratio [OR] 16.61 [confidence interval CI 2.21 to 117.92], p=0.006), locality (OR 3.08 [CI 1.42 to 22.54], p=0.011) and contact with dogs (OR 2.34 [CI 0.026 to 0.646], p=0.013) were recorded as potential risk factors for seropositivity to CE in the study area.

Between 2002-2014, Guinea-Bissau had 17 national campaigns with oral polio vaccine (OPV) as well as campaigns with vitamin A supplementation (VAS), measles vaccine (MV), and H1N1-influenza vaccine. We examined the impact of these campaigns on child survival.
We examined the mortality rate between day 1 and 3 years of age of all children in the study area. We used Cox models with age as underlying time to calculate adjusted mortality rate ratios (MRR) between "after-campaign" mortality and "before-campaign" mortality, adjusted for temporal change in mortality and stratified for season at risk.
Mortality was lower after OPV-only campaigns than before, the MRR for after-campaign vs. before-campaign being 0.75 (95% CI=0.67-0.85). Other campaigns did not have similar effects, the MRRs being 1.22 (1.04-1.44) for OPV+VAS campaigns, 1.39 (1.20-1.61) for VAS-only campaigns, 1.32 (1.09-1.60) for MV-with-VAS campaigns, and 1.13 (0.86-1.49) for the H1N1 campaign. Increased CD8+ T cell expansion and activation was also observed in HLA-DR15 donor-reconstituted humanized mice after EBV infection. Despite this higher immune activation, EBV viral loads were less well controlled in the context of HLA-DR15. Indeed, HLA-DR15-restricted CD4+ T cell clones recognized EBV-transformed B cell lines less efficiently and demonstrated cross-reactivity toward allogeneic target cells and one MS autoantigen. The current coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic has rapidly spread across the world. Individuals with stimulant use disorder are a vulnerable population, who are particularly at risk of negative outcomes during this pandemic due to several risk factors, including mental and physical comorbidities, weakened immune responses, high-risk behaviors, and barriers to healthcare access. Engaging patients with stimulant use disorder in regular treatment has become even more difficult during this pandemic, which has resulted in many cuts to addiction treatment programs. The most effective treatment options for stimulant use disorder are psychosocial interventions, which rely heavily on in-person interactions, posing an added challenge during physical distancing. In particular, contingency management (CM) is a behavioral therapy that utilizes tangible reinforcements to incentivize targeted behavior changes, and is an effective treatment intervention used for stimulant use disorder. This paper highlights the treatment challenges for individuals with stimulant use disorder and the importance of adapting CM programs during COVID-19. We present strategies for how CM can be adapted and its role expanded in a safe way during the COVID-19 pandemic to help prevent infection spread, stimulant use relapse, and worsened psychosocial consequences.
The standard treatment for high-risk non-muscle invasive bladder tumors (NMIBT) is transurethral resection of the bladder and BCG instillations. However, responses are limited, and new therapeutic alternatives for these patients are required. The results of checkpoint inhibitors in advanced tumors have led to interest in the use of these molecules in NMIBT.
We conducted a search on PubMed using the terms «bladder cancer» and «check point inhibitors». We have used the search engines clinicaltrials.gov and clinicaltrialsregister.eu for the search of clinical trials.
There are currently 5 trials in progress on BCG untreated patients. There are no results available. Upon obtaining ethical approval by the participating institutions' review boards, the medical records of patients with vulvar cancer, who were treated between 2001 and 2010 were reviewed. The impact of clinicopathological factors on overall survival (OS) was investigated using a multivariate Cox regression model.

Improving management of postoperative pain following shoulder surgery is vital for optimizing patient outcomes, length of stay, and decreasing addiction to narcotic medications. Multimodal analgesia (ie, controlling pain via multiple different analgesic methods with differing mechanisms) is an ever-evolving approach to enhancing pain control perioperatively after shoulder surgery. With a variety of options for the shoulder surgeon to turn to, this article succinctly reviews the pros and cons of each approach and proposes a potential pain management algorithm.

A proximal radial plate was then placed in the center of this safe zone. Extreme object attachment in adults can form as a way to compensate for a lack of interpersonal attachment or as a symptom of hoarding disorder; however, normative levels of object attachment also exist across the lifespan. Although the importance of secure interpersonal attachment as a protective factor for older adults has been well established, research into object attachment in older adults is still a nascent field. As individuals age, they inevitably experience a series of cognitive, emotional, and physical changes that may influence their attachment to objects. Life events may impact the way that we view our possessions, particularly over time. Given individual differences, multiple pathways may affect normative object attachment as we age.
Aspirin reduces colorectal cancer (CRC) incidence and mortality. Understanding the biology responsible for this protective effect is key to developing biomarker-led approaches for rational clinical use. Wnt signaling drives CRC development from initiation to progression through regulation of epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) and cancer stem cell populations. Questionnaires regarding sexual behavior, education tobacco- and alcohol-consumption, were given to 28 patients with tonsillar hyperplasia (H) and 128 patients with tonsillar carcinomas (CA), all with tissue-typed HPV-DNA-status performing PCR. Answers were correlated among groups and HPV-status. 106 questionnaires were analyzed. Comparisons between H- (n = 25) and CA- (n = 81) patients showed that CA-patients were older (61.1yrs ± 9.3) than H-patients (45.2yrs ± 11.9; p less then 0.0001; Student's t-test); had a lower educational level (p = 0.0095); and lower number of sexual partners (p = 0.0222; Fisher's exact test). All groups showed a significant correlation between smoking and lack of HPV-DNA-positivity (p = 0.001). Further Fisher's exact tests and logistic regression analysis revealed in all 106 patients no significant correlations between tissue-HPV-status and the analyzed parameters. Despite the limited sample size, we were able to confirm the established correlation between smoking and tissue-HPV-status. The correlation between sexual behavior and HPV-infection was not confirmed. No consensus exists in the literature about the latter. Our data does not support the strict classification of oral HPV-infections and HPV-driven HNSCCs as STDs.This study investigated whether bioaugmentation improves sulfamethoxazole (SMX) degradation and nitrogen removal in the Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor (MBBR) system. Using MBBR system operation experiments, the bioaugmented reactor was found to perform more effectively than the non-bioaugmentation reactor, with the highest SMX, nitrate-N, and ammonia-N removal efficiencies of 80.49, 94.70, and 96.09%, respectively. The changes in the sulfonamide resistance genes and bacterial communities were detected at various operating conditions. The results indicate that the diversity of the bacterial communities and the abundance of resistance genes were markedly influenced by bioaugmentation and the C/N ratio, with Achromobacter among the dominant genera in the MBBR system. The bio-toxicity of samples, calculated as the inhibition percentage (IP) toward Escherichia coli, was found to decrease to non-toxic ranges after treatment.
Depression is one of the biggest global health problems, especially among emerging adults (18 to 25). A negative body image is a well-known risk factor for the development of depressive symptoms. However, little is known about how different aspects of body image relate to depressive symptoms. Therefore, the current study explores the relation between body satisfaction, body investment, and depressive symptoms, moderated by sex and physical activity, among a non-clinical sample of emerging adults.

=21.95 years, SD=1.98, 80.60% women) within a convenience sample was used within a hierarchical multiple regression analysis.
Results showed that a higher body satisfaction and more body investment were related to fewer depressive symptoms. This relation was somewhat stronger for body investment than for body satisfaction. Furthermore, the relation between lower body satisfaction and more depressive symptoms was stronger for participants with a lower level of physical activity.

The present study was aimed to investigate the anticancer activity of crude secondary metabolite extract (CSME) obtained from the radiation-tolerant bacterium Deinococcus radiodurans in triple-negative human breast carcinoma (MDA-MB-231) cells. The 3-(4, 5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2, 5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay showed the antiproliferative potential of CSME in MDA-MB-231 cells (IC50 = 25 μg/ml) and MCF-7 cells (IC50 = 10 μg/ml). Further, the CSME treatment led to the production of intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) and nuclear membrane alterations with the formation of apoptotic bodies in MDA-MB-231 cells. Considerable DNA damage and low antioxidant status were observed in CSME-treated MDA-MB-231 cells. The results also showed that the CSME treatment induced apoptotic markers expression in MDA-MB-231 cells. Western blot results illustrated significant upregulation of p53, caspase-3, and caspase-9 proteins expression. Then, we analyzed the presence of secondary metabolites which may be linked with antiproliferative potential of CSME by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). The results illustrated the presence of 23 bioactive compounds some of which are already reported to possess anticancer properties. In this study, we investigated the antitumor effect of FYY on HCT116 and SW480 human CRC cell lines in vitro and evaluated the underlying molecular mechanism. A subcutaneous xenograft mouse model was used to confirm the antitumor effect in vivo. The components and targets of FYY were collected from the Traditional Chinese Medicine Systems Pharmacology Database (TCMSP) database. CRC targets were collected via the GeneCards and OMIM databases. Protein-protein interactions were explored using the STRING platform. Cytoscape was used to construct drug-disease-target networks. KEGG and GO analyses were performed to investigate common FYY and CRC targets. FYY significantly inhibited cell proliferation and induced HCT116 and SW480 cell apoptosis. Cell proliferation was blocked at the G0/G1 phase, while cell apoptosis was promoted at the early stage. According to the network pharmacological analysis, quercetin and kaempferol were the most bioactive compounds of FYY. The key targets of FYY were cyclin-D1, MAPK8, and EGFR. GO analysis showed that core targets included the apoptotic signaling pathway, response to steroid hormone, and cellular response to organic cyclic compound. The KEGG pathway analysis showed that FYY may affect CRC through the PI3K/Akt pathway. In vitro, FYY significantly inhibited tumor growth. Pathway analysis confirmed that FYY induced cell apoptosis by modulating PI3K/Akt signaling and BCL-2 family proteins. Hence, our findings indicate that FYY may be a promising adjuvant therapy for CRC.
Functional experiments reveal that depletion of Coro1B causes defects in the actin cytoskeleton and cell-cell junctions. Finally, in matrigel tube network assays, depletion of Coro1B results in reduced network complexity, tube number and tube length. Background Easyhaler (registered trademark by Orion Corporation) is a multidose dry powder inhaler (DPI) for the treatment of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), designed to be simple and easy to use. Salmeterol-fluticasone propionate (S-F) Easyhaler (50/250 and 50/500 μg per dose), available in several European countries, provides combined inhaled corticosteroid and long-acting beta agonist therapy for the management of asthma and COPD. A requirement of the European Committee for Medical Products for Human Use guidelines is to demonstrate product performance under conditions that mimic real-life patient use. Therefore, our aims were to assess the robustness of the S-F Easyhaler by assessing the delivered dose (DD) and fine particle dose (FPD) throughout the inhaler lifespan and under simulated environmental stress conditions. Methods This was a noncomparative exploratory in vitro study. Two batches and six to nine inhalers per batch from both dose strengths were used to assess drug delivery performance over the inhaler lifespan (doses 1-60). For determining the impact of simulated environmental stress (tests for exposure of dropping, vibration, moisture, and freeze-thawing) on DD and FPD, one batch and three inhalers per batch from both dose strengths were used per test, respectively. Aerodynamic particle size distribution was evaluated during the simulated dropping and vibration tests. Mini-BESTest and Brief-BESTest are used to assess balance in patients with a wide range of balance disorders. While there are Persian versions of Mini-BESTest and Brief-BESTest, the psychometric properties have not been thoroughly evaluated. This study aimed to assess the reliability and validity of the Persian versions of Mini-BESTest and Brief-BESTest in persons with Parkinson's disease (PD).
Three medical students rated videotaped performances of 49 individuals with PD on the Persian Mini-BESTest, Persian Brief-BESTest, and Berg balance scale (BBS). Healthy adults were matched with persons having PD in terms of age and gender.
There were no floor and ceiling effects. Inter- and intra-rater reliability was excellent (ICC=0.965-0.973). The minimal detectable changeswere 2.37 and 3.47 for Persian versions of Mini-BESTest and Brief-BESTest, respectively. The Persian versions of Mini-BESTest and Brief-BESTest had very good correlations with BBS (r>0.7) confirming construct validity. There was a very good correlation between the Mini-BESTest and the Brief-BESTest total scores (r=0.78). There were significant differences between the persons with PD and healthy adults on both tests supporting discriminant validity. Significant differences in balance performances across Hoehn and Yahr stages were found which supported known-groups validity.

Objective To develop an educational intervention to address the palliative needs of injured patients. Design Palliative faculty presented a three-part monthly lecture series focused on core primary palliative skills, including the components of palliative care; conducting family conferences; communication skills for complex medical decision making; pain management; and, end-of-life planning. Additionally a palliative provider joined trauma team rounds every other week to highlight opportunities for enhanced palliative assessments, identify appropriate consults, and provide just-in-time teaching. Setting Urban, level-1 trauma center. Measurements Surgical residents completed a survey at the beginning and end of the academic year, during which the intervention took place. All survey questions were answliative skills and foster culture change. Educational partnerships such as this may serve as an example to other trauma programs.Pathways from violence to head injury and poor long-term outcomes have been found among numerous populations, however, have not yet been widely examined with youth exposed to violence. Traumatic brain injuries (TBIs) are linked to a range of consequences salient to adolescent development and well-being, such as impulsivity, academic abilities, and emotional processing. This gap in research has led to a missed opportunity to understand the consequences of youth victimization, particularly within the academic setting. The current study examined whether head injury and problem behaviors mediate the relationships between victimization and suspension/expulsion using data from the Pathways to Desistance Study, a multi-site, longitudinal study of serious adolescent offenders age 14-18. A sample of male youth who had witnessed violence (n = 1,094) reported a total score of victimization, number of early behavior problems (i.e., cheating, fighting, etc.), ever having a head injury (32.9%), and number of times suspended (adjusted M = 13.13; SD = 19.31) or expelled (adjusted M = 0.65; SD = 0.99). Structural equation modeling was used to examine direct and indirect pathways from victimization to suspension and expulsion through head injury and behavior. Direct pathways from victimization to school discipline were significant; indirect pathways mediated by only head injury were not significant, but indirect pathways through only problem behavior and through TBI and problem behavior were significant for both expulsion and suspension. Results suggest that youth who have been victimized are at higher risk for both suspension and expulsion and that this risk may be, in part, explained through increased head injury and problem behaviors. TBI screenings/services for violence-exposed youth and trauma-informed school-based services may help to deter trajectories toward suspension and expulsion but should be developed with attention to the influence of racial bias on pathways to school discipline.
