FeCl3∙6H2O was used as raw material to produce Fe3O4, using the solvothermal method with ethylene glycol as the solvent. Fe3O4, with different particle sizes, was obtained via mechanical ball-milling by controlling the milling time. Effect of the milling time on the structure, morphology, and electromagnetic parameters of Fe3O4 were studied, and the absorption properties and mechanism of Fe3O4, for different milling times were analyzed. The results showed that the integrity of the original small spherical structure decreased as the ball milling time increased. Fe3O4 showed excellent microwave absorptions as the milling time reached 2 h, the reflection loss reached the maximum of -21.19 dB at 4.64 GHz as the thickness was 6.55 mm.Grb7 is a signalling adapter protein that engages activated receptor tyrosine kinases at cellular membranes to effect downstream pathways of cell migration, proliferation and survival. Grb7's cellular location was shown to be regulated by the small calcium binding protein calmodulin (CaM). While evidence for a Grb7/CaM interaction is compelling, a direct interaction between CaM and purified Grb7 has not been demonstrated and quantitated. In this study we sought to determine this, and prepared pure full-length Grb7, as well as its RA-PH and SH2 subdomains, and tested for CaM binding using surface plasmon resonance. We report a direct interaction between full-length Grb7 and CaM that occurs in a calcium dependent manner. While no binding was observed to the SH2 domain alone, we observed a high micromolar affinity interaction between the Grb7 RA-PH domain and CaM, suggesting that the Grb7/CaM interaction is mediated through this region of Grb7. Together, our data support the model of a CaM interaction with Grb7 via its RA-PH domain.Adpsin is an adipokine that stimulates insulin secretion from β-cells and improves glucose tolerance. Its expression has been found to be markedly reduced in obese animals. However, it remains unclear what factors lead to downregulation of adipsin in the context of obesity. Endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress response is activated in various tissues under obesity-related conditions and can induce transcriptional reprogramming. Therefore, we aimed to investigate the relationship between adipsin expression and ER stress in adipose tissues during obesity. We observed that obese **** exhibited decreased levels of adipsin in adipose tissues and serum and increased ER stress markers in adipose tissues compared to lean ****. We also found that ER stress suppressed adipsin expression via adipocytes-intrinsic mechanisms. Moreover, the ER stress-mediated downregulation of adipsin was at least partially attributed to decreased expression of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor γ (PPARγ), a key transcription factor in the regulation of adipocyte function. Finally, treatment with chemical chaperones recovered the ER stress-mediated downregulation of adipsin and PPARγ in vivo and in vitro. Our findings suggest that activated ER stress in adipose tissues is an important cause of the suppression of adipsin expression in the context of obesity.Flexibility in signal transmission is essential for high-level brain function. Given the key regulatory roles of a variety of noncoding RNAs (ncRNAs) in neurons, studying neuron-specific ncRNAs provides an important basis for understanding molecular principles of brain function. This approach will have wide use in understanding the pathogenesis of brain diseases and in the development of therapeutic agents in the future. Brain cytoplasmic RNAs (** RNAs) are a leading paradigm for research on neuronal ncRNAs. Since the first confirmation of brain-specific expression of ** RNAs in 1982, their investigation has been an area of active research. In this review, we summarize key studies on the characteristics and functions of ** RNAs in neurons.An integrated longitudinal-lateral control method is proposed for autonomous vehicle trajectory tracking and dynamic collision avoidance. A method of obstacle trajectory prediction is proposed, in which the trajectory of the obstacle is predicted and the dynamic solution of the reference trajectory is realized. Aiming at the lane changing scene of autonomous vehicles driving in the same direction and adjacent lanes, a trajectory re-planning motion controller with the penalty function is designed. The reference trajectory parameterized output of local reprogramming is realized by using the method of curve fitting. In the framework of integrated control, Fuzzy adaptive (proportional-integral) PI controller is proposed for longitudinal velocity tracking. The selection and control of controller and velocity are realized by logical threshold method; A model predictive control (MPC) with vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) information interaction modular and the driver characteristics is proposed for direction control. According to the control target, the objective function and constraints of the controller are designed. The proposed method's performance in different scenarios is verified by simulation. The results show that the autonomous vehicles can avoid collision and have good stability.In business, managers may use the association information among products to define promotion and competitive strategies. The mining of high-utility association rules (HARs) from high-utility itemsets enables users to select their own weights for rules, based either on the utility or confidence values. This approach also provides more information, which can help managers to make better decisions. Therefore, this paper proposes a method for the efficient mining of non-redundant high-utility association rules (NR-HARs). We first build a semi-lattice of mined high-utility itemsets, and then identify closed and generator itemsets within this. Following this, an efficient algorithm is developed for generating rules from the built lattice. This new approach was verified on different types of datasets to demonstrate that it has a faster runtime and does not require more memory than existing methods.

Nursing education is being challenged to rapidly evolve in order to meet the complex and systemic health care demands facing societies globally. International immersion is one educational strategy promoted to help prepare nursing students to meet these challenges. The Comparative Health Care Immersion Course in South Korea was created to educate entry-level master of science in nursing (MSN) students studying to become Clinical Nurse Leaders (CNL) to meet the complex systems level challenges facing health care organizations in the United States. Teaching adults in a cross-cultural setting required a complex philosophical and andragogical approach weaving together cultural constructivism, cultural attunement, anti-imperialism, critical theory, and experiential learning. Published by Elsevier Inc.BACKGROUND Identifying the most appropriate journal for a manuscript can be challenging for both experienced and novice nurse authors. Several factors should be considered when selecting a journal (e.g., peer-reviewed, target audience, type of manuscripts accepted, type of copyright and publishing model used). Selecting the most appropriate journal can save time for both authors and publishers. PURPOSE The purpose of this article is to provide nurses, particularly those new to scholarly publishing, with clear, plain language guidance on the processes and considerations involved in selecting a journal for publication. METHODS A librarian and a nurse educator collaborated to develop an innovative 4-step process to help authors select the most appropriate journal for their manuscript. RESULTS A case study is used to illustrate the process, and a worksheet is provided to guide the reader through the selection of an appropriate journal for their manuscript. CONCLUSIONS This manuscript can be used by individual nurse authors to find the most appropriate journal for their manuscript, as a teaching tool for nurse educators, and for others mentoring nurse authors who are new to publishing. Informal or family caregivers are a substantial component of the U.S. health care system and are essential for addressing the needs of a growing number of U.S. citizens who are aging, managing chronic or disabling conditions, or facing life-limiting illness. The purpose of this study was to examine the representation of family caregiving in a set of foundational documents that shape nursing education, practice standard, and related policy. Electronic copies of these "canonical" documents were systematically mapped for the appearance of language, terms, and concepts related to family caregiving. Additionally, relevant passages of caregiving-related text were coded for content, phrasing, and meaning. Few meaningful references were found, exposing how the nursing profession may also be perpetuating the role of the family caregiver as unsupported and invisible. When present in the documents, family caregivers were generally situated as background or context for patient care, often as objects and less frequently as agents with influence. These findings are considered within the context of the emerging caregiving public health crisis and family caregiver health outcomes, family caregiver integration into the health care team, nursing education and practice standards, nursing leadership and workforce development, and nursing's policy advocacy role. BACKGROUND A small Midwestern college of nursing and an affiliate hospital partnered to design a nurse residency program where students are extended pre-hire job offers in a practice area of their choice and are then partnered with a preceptor who they will work with in a clinical immersion experience during the last semester of their nursing program and in their orientation period as new nurses. PURPOSE The purpose of this qualitative, phenomenological study was to explore the lived experiences of a cohort of nurses as students and new graduate nurses during transition in this collaborative nurse residency program. METHOD A transcendental phenomenological qualitative approach using Meleis' Transition Experience Theory as a theoretical framework is used for this study. RESULTS Themes of feeling overwhelmed, supported, and confident were identified. A finding unique to the literature and this nurse residency program model is a theme of overwhelming support. CONCLUSIONS This information can be used to improve the nurse residency program and its outcomes and also further the advancement of nursing knowledge of the transition experience of new nurses. A better understanding of the roles of doctoral-prepared nurses in Veterans Health Administration (VHA) workforce will help leverage their expertise to meet the needs of Veterans. PURPOSE Assess the current roles of doctoral-prepared nurses within the VHA. METHOD A cross-sectional survey was used to collect information on doctoral-prepared nurses within the VHA in 2016. Multiple strategies were used to identify doctoral-prepared nurses to recruit for an online survey. Survey invitations were sent electronically to unique individuals identified (N = 2403). RESULTS Responses were received from 1015 nurses (42.2% response rate), with 929 nurses with a doctoral degree identified. DNP/DNAP degrees were most common (55%), followed by a PhD or DNS (33%). Significant differences were noted between nurses in different doctoral education categories across four main roles research, clinical, educational, and administration. CONCLUSIONS This survey generated the first comprehensive list of VHA doctoral-prepared nurses. Findings are being used by the VHA Office of Nursing Services to align degree types, duties of different positions, functional statements, and position expectations. Results support the continued need for collaboration between nurses with PhDs and DNPs to achieve research and clinical goals.
