The validity of the transdiagnostic cognitive-behavioural model of eating disorders has been examined in adults, however there is limited examination in adolescents with eating disorders. The present study examined the direct and indirect relationships between eating disorder symptoms and the four maintaining processes perfectionism, low core self-esteem, mood intolerance, and interpersonal difficulties.

Results showed a bi-directional positive association between food addiction and body dissatisfaction (β = 0.12-0.26, standard error [SE] = 0.07-0.03, all p less then 0.01) that was partially mediated by the expectancy that eating leads to feeling out of control, regardless of whether body dissatisfaction was included as the independent or dependent variable (β = 0.15-0.36, SE = 0.05-0.02, all p less then 0.01). Emotional eating is associated with a number of negative outcomes in children and adolescents, including higher levels of loss of control eating (i.e., the inability to control the amount of food consumed). There is a need for psychometrically sound and feasible measures that assess emotional eating in children and adolescents. The purpose of the current study was to evaluate the convergent and discriminant validity of the 10-item Emotional Eating Scale Adapted for Children and Adolescents (EES-C) Short-Form in a community sample of adolescents. We also sought to assess the reliability and structural validity of this measure.
Participants were 128 adolescents ages 13 to 19years (mean age=15.10years; SD=2.09; 53.9% female). Most participants fell within the healthy BMI range (58.6%). Participants completed the EES-C Short-Form, the loss of control eating section of the Questionnaire on Eating and Weight Patterns-Adolescent Version 5, the Gratitude Questionnaire-Six-Item Form, and a demographic questionnairse data contribute to the existing research that support the EES-C Short-Form as a reliable and valid measure for assessing emotional eating in children and adolescents.
We performed a systematic review and meta-analysis of the prevalence of chest CT findings in patients with confirmed COVID-19 infection.
Systematic review of the literature was performed using PubMed, Scopus, Embase, and Google Scholar to retrieve original studies on chest CT findings of patients with confirmed COVID-19, available up to 10 May 2020. Data on frequency and distribution of chest CT findings were extracted from eligible studies, pooled and meta-analyzed using random-effects model to calculate the prevalence of chest CT findings.
Overall, 103 studies (pooled population 9907 confirmed COVID-19 patients) were meta-analyzed. The most common CT findings were ground-glass opacities (GGOs) (77.18%, 95%CI=72.23-81.47), reticulations (46.24%, 95%CI=38.51-54.14), and air bronchogram (41.61%, 95%CI=32.78-51.01). Pleural thickening (33.35%, 95%CI=21.89-47.18) and bronchial wall thickening (15.48%, 95%CI=8.54-26.43) were major atypical and airway findings. Lesions were predominantly distributed bilaterally (75.72%, 95%CI=70.79-80.06) and peripherally (65.64%, 95%CI=58.21-72.36), while 8.20% (95%CI=6.30-10.61) of patients had no abnormal findings and pre-existing lung diseases were present in 6.01% (95%CI=4.37-8.23).

There are no comprehensive study that examines the academic performance of licensed student athletes and the factors influencing their success rates. The aim of this study was to evaluate the academic performance and related factors in licensed athletes. Methods One hundred eleven licensed athletes at junior high school level were enrolled. Participants filled out questionnaires specifically designed to assess for factors affecting academic performance, where personal and familial factors as well as school performance was taken into consideration. Their academic success rates were evaluated out of mean grade points before as well as after professional sports activities. Academic fieldathematics did not show any significant change (p=0.054). The most important factor that improves school performance is the financial status of the family. In Group 1 demonstrated grade improvements following sports activities only in social sciences, whereas Group 2 athletes showed such an improvement for all the disciplines (p less then 0.05). Conclusions Licensed athletes' school success during the junior high school period showed a significant increase after sports in this study. Subsequently we repeated the analysis excluding from each group adolescents who suffered from a chronic condition or disability themselves. Results At the bivariate and multivariate level, among those with SCDD, healthy females reported more somatic symptoms, healthy males more violent behaviors, and both genders lived more often in non-intact families. When considering both healthy and unhealthy adolescents, at bivariate analysis female adolescents with SCDD were more likely to have a poorer relationship to their mother, to be unhealthy, to smoke, to be at risk for disordered eating and to report somatic symptoms. At multivariate level, only the association with SCDD and smoking remained. Male adolescents with SCDD, at both bivariate and multivariate analyses, were more likely to be unhealthy and to live in larger and non-intact families. Conclusion Healthy adolescents with an SCDD are more at risk of somatic symptoms and violent behaviors than their peers with healthy siblings. Health professionals in contact with adolescents should always consider them with a systemic approach. Parents should be informed about the potential effect on the siblings of a CDD child, but also reassured, as adolescents with SCDD are not different from their peers with healthy siblings.Objectives The prolonged uses of fourth-generation antipsychotics have been implicated in inducing extrapyramidal syndromes characterized by the motor deficit. The control (NS) received normal saline for 28 days, Untreated D2R inhibition group (-D2R) received normal saline for seven days and then subsequently received chlorpromazine for 21 days, D2R inhibition group treated with ascorbic acid (-D2R+SVCT2R) received chlorpromazine for 21 days and was subsequently treated with ascorbate for seven days while the withdrawal group (WG) received chlorpromazine for 21 days and subsequently received normal saline for seven days. Motor deficits were assessed using a rotarod and cylinder test. However, those architectures do not allow for the efficient processing of the full genomic sequence. As an improvement, we introduce transformer architectures for whole genome sequence labeling tasks. We show that these architectures, recently introduced for natural language processing, are better suited for processing and annotating long DNA sequences. We apply existing networks and introduce an optimized method for the calculation of attention from input nucleotides. To demonstrate this, we evaluate our architecture on several sequence labeling tasks, and find it to achieve state-of-the-art performances when comparing it to specialized models for the annotation of transcription start sites, translation initiation sites and 4mC methylation in E.

HALS had a significantly reduced conversion rate (p < 0.01). In two studies that compared HALS and OS (n = 66), HALS showed a decrease in LOS of 4.5days (p < 0.01) and increase of 44min in operative time (p < 0.01), while OS had a significantly higher blood loss of 448cc (p = 0.01). No differences were found in the complication rate.

Sarcopenia and obesity are associated with outcomes after surgery. However, few studies have investigated which more accurately predicts postoperative complications or prognosis in patients with gastric cancer.
A total of 567 consecutive patients with gastric cancer who underwent gastrectomy between 2010 and 2015 were retrospectively reviewed. Psoas muscle mass index (PMI) and visceral fat area (VFA) were measured by CT scan. Patients were divided into two groups based on PMI (PMI-H group male ≥ 6.36 cm

). The incidence of postoperative complications and the recurrence-free survival (RFS) were compared between the two groups.
The incidence of postoperative complications was significantly higher in the VFA-H group than in the VFA-L group (35.1% vs. 20.3%; P < 0.001), whereas there was no significant difference between the PMI-H and PMI-L groups. Multivariate analysis showed that PMI-L and VFA-H were independent risk factors for pneumonia (odds ratio, 4.49; P = 0.018) and intra-abdominal abscess (odds ratio, 5.19; P = 0.004), respectively. While there was no significant difference in RFS between the VFA-H and VFA-L groups, the PMI-L group showed significantly worse RFS than the PMI-H group (P < 0.001).

The obtained complex refractive index was used to establish the turbidity compensation model in the COD characteristic spectral region, and the COD concentration inversion were achieved by using the PLS algorithm. The results show that the turbidity compensation method based on Mie scattering theory can improve the accuracy of COD measurement by UV-Vis spectroscopy. Compared with before turbidity compensation, R2 (determination coefficient) between true values and predicted values of COD increased from 0.2274 to 0.9629, and RMSE (root mean square error) of predicted values decreased from 21.73 to 3.12 mg L-1. Compared with 350 nm PC, derivative method, and improved ****method, the turbidity compensation method for COD measurement based on Mie scattering theory is simple, fast, and highly accurate. And the calculated spectrum can represent the scattering characteristics of the measured spectrum. Sarcopenia and obesity are associated with outcomes after surgery. However, few studies have investigated which more accurately predicts postoperative complications or prognosis in patients with gastric cancer. A total of 567 consecutive patients with gastric cancer who underwent gastrectomy between 2010 and 2015 were retrospectively reviewed. Psoas muscle mass index (PMI) and visceral fat area (VFA) were measured by CT scan. Patients were divided into two groups based on PMI (PMI-H group male ≥ 6.36 cm /m , female ≥ 3.92 cm /m ; and PMI-L group male < 6.36 cm /m , female < 3.92 cm /m ) and two groups based on VFA (VFA-H group ≥ 100 cm ; VFA-L group < 100 cm ). The incidence of postoperative complications and the recurrence-free survival (RFS) were compared between the two groups. The incidence of postoperative complications was significantly higher in the VFA-H group than in the VFA-L group (35.1% vs. 20.3%; P < 0.001), whereas there was no significant difference between the PMI-H and PMI-L groups. Multivariate analysis showed that PMI-L and VFA-H were independent risk factors for pneumonia (odds ratio, 4.49; P = 0.018) and intra-abdominal abscess (odds ratio, 5.19; P = 0.004), respectively. While there was no significant difference in RFS between the VFA-H and VFA-L groups, the PMI-L group showed significantly worse RFS than the PMI-H group (P < 0.001). PMI and VFA were useful predictive factors for postoperative pneumonia and intra-abdominal abscess, respectively. PMI might be a useful prognostic factor in patients with gastric cancer, but VFA is not. The obtained complex refractive index was used to establish the turbidity compensation model in the COD characteristic spectral region, and the COD concentration inversion were achieved by using the PLS algorithm. The results show that the turbidity compensation method based on Mie scattering theory can improve the accuracy of COD measurement by UV-Vis spectroscopy. Compared with before turbidity compensation, R2 (determination coefficient) between true values and predicted values of COD increased from 0.2274 to 0.9629, and RMSE (root mean square error) of predicted values decreased from 21.73 to 3.12 mg L-1. Compared with 350 nm PC, derivative method, and improved MSC method, the turbidity compensation method for COD measurement based on Mie scattering theory is simple, fast, and highly accurate. The reported case is the first CIMDL consistent with brain extension mimicking a tumor-like lesion. While the presence of atypical ANCA seems to promote and/or define the disease phenotype, the specific role of these and other circulating autoantibodies needs further investigation.Tick identification is critical for assessing disease risk from a tick bite and for determining requisite treatment. Data from the University of Rhode Island's TickEncounter Resource Center's photo-based surveillance system, TickSpotters, indicate that users incorrectly identified their submitted specimen 83% of the time. Of the top four most commonly submitted tick species, western blacklegged ticks (Ixodes pacificus Cooley & Kohls [Ixodida Ixodidae]) had the largest proportion of unidentified or misidentified submissions (87.7% incorrectly identified to species), followed by lone star ticks (Amblyomma americanum Linneaus [Ixodida Ixodidae]; 86.8% incorrect), American dog ticks (Dermacentor variabilis Say [Ixodida Ixodidae]; 80.7% incorrect), and blacklegged ticks (Ixodes scapularis Say [Ixodida Ixodidae]; 77.1% incorrect). More than one quarter of participants (26.3%) submitted photographs of ticks that had been feeding for at least 2.5 d, suggesting heightened risk. This conservation seems to partially clarify an ancestral genomic structure in the Symbiodiniaceae and its loss in late-branching lineages, including Breviolum and Cladocopium, after splitting from the Durusdinium lineage. Our analysis suggests that approximately half of the taxa in the Symbiodiniaceae may maintain the ability to synthesize mycosporine-like amino acids. Except for the patient treated for an iatrogenic, surgery-related internal carotid artery pseudoaneurysm who died secondary to consequences of multiple surgeries, no cases of mortality or permanent morbidity were noted. Complete aneurysm occlusion rates were 78.2%, 82.1%, and 95.2% at 0-3, 3-6, and 9-12 months, respectively. None of the patients were re-treated.

Traumatic brain injury (TBI) induces major insult to the normal cerebral physiology. The anesthetic agents may infrequently produce deleterious effects and further aggravate damage to the injured brain. This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of propofol and sevoflurane on cerebral oxygenation, brain relaxation, systemic hemodynamic parameters and levels of interleukin-6 (IL-6) in patients with severe TBI undergoing decompressive craniectomy.
A prospective randomized comparative study was conducted on 42 patients undergoing surgery for severe TBI. Patients were randomized into two groups, Group P received propofol and Group S received sevoflurane for maintenance of anesthesia. All patients were induced with fentanyl, propofol, and vecuronium. The effect of these agents on cerebral oxygenation was assessed by jugular venous oxygen saturation (SjVO
). Hemodynamic changes and quality of intraoperative brain relaxation were also assessed. The serum levels of IL-6 were quantitated using enzyme-linkedve potential of propofol and sevoflurane.
The maintenance of hemodynamic stability is of pivotal importance in aneurysm surgeries. While administering anesthesia in these patients, the fluctuations in blood pressure may directly affect transmural pressure, thereby precipitating rupture of aneurysm and various other associated complications. We aimed to compare the effects of ketofol with propofol alone when used as an induction and maintenance anesthetic agent during surgical clipping of intracranial aneurysms.
Forty adult, good-grade aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage patients posted for aneurysm neck clipping were included in the study. The patients were randomized into two groups. One group received a combination of ketamine and propofol (15 ratio) and the other group received propofol for induction and maintenance of anesthesia. Intraoperative hemodynamic stability, intraventricular pressure, and quality of brain relaxation were studied in both the groups.
The patients were comparable with respect to demographic profile, Hunt and Hess gradeetter hemodynamic stability on induction as well as maintenance anesthesia without causing an increase in intracranial pressure. Effect of ketofol on cerebral oxygenation and quality of emergence need to be evaluated further by larger multicentric, randomized control trials.

Wide-necked intracranial aneurysm (WIA) is one of the challenging diseases for neuro-interventionist to treat by simple coiling technique. The purpose of this study is to identify the morphology associated with successful simple coil embolization in wide neck aneurysm patients.
Between January 2002 and August 2018, 102 patients with total 115 ruptured or unruptured WIA which received endovascular treatment were retrospective reviewed. Data were analyzed including demographics, aneurysm morphology, endovascular technique, angiographic outcome, complication, regrowth, and retreatment rate.
The mean age of patients was 61.6 years with female predominant (72.5%). Ruptured WIA was diagnosed in 71 patients (61.7%). Majority of aneurysms were located in an anterior circulation which were 74 cases (64.3%), mainly paraclinoid aneurysm (30/115). Endovascular treatment was successful in 113 cases (98.3%) which can be mainly divided into simple coil embolization 50 cases (43.5%), balloon-assisted coil embolization 26 cases (22.6%), and stent-assisted coil embolization 32 cases (27.8%). Complete, subtotal, and incomplete occlusion of WIA was achieved in 32 cases (27.8%), 62 cases (53.9%), and 18 cases (15.7%), respectively. There was 9.6% complication occurred. Regrowth and retreatment were found 20% and 15.7%, respectively.

The effect of these agents on cerebral oxygenation was assessed by jugular venous oxygen saturation (SjVO ). Hemodynamic changes and quality of intraoperative brain relaxation were also assessed. We aimed to compare the effects of ketofol with propofol alone when used as an induction and maintenance anesthetic agent during surgical clipping of intracranial aneurysms. Forty adult, good-grade aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage patients posted for aneurysm neck clipping were included in the study. The patients were randomized into two groups. One group received a combination of ketamine and propofol (15 ratio) and the other group received propofol for induction and maintenance of anesthesia. Intraoperative hemodynamic stability, intraventricular pressure, and quality of brain relaxation were studied in both the groups. The patients were comparable with respect to demographic profile, Hunt and Hess gradeetter hemodynamic stability on induction as well as maintenance anesthesia without causing an increase in intracranial pressure. Wide-necked intracranial aneurysm (WIA) is one of the challenging diseases for neuro-interventionist to treat by simple coiling technique. The purpose of this study is to identify the morphology associated with successful simple coil embolization in wide neck aneurysm patients. Between January 2002 and August 2018, 102 patients with total 115 ruptured or unruptured WIA which received endovascular treatment were retrospective reviewed. Data were analyzed including demographics, aneurysm morphology, endovascular technique, angiographic outcome, complication, regrowth, and retreatment rate. The mean age of patients was 61.6 years with female predominant (72.5%). Ruptured WIA was diagnosed in 71 patients (61.7%). Majority of aneurysms were located in an anterior circulation which were 74 cases (64.3%), mainly paraclinoid aneurysm (30/115). Endovascular treatment was successful in 113 cases (98.3%) which can be mainly divided into simple coil embolization 50 cases (43.5%), balloon-assisted coil embolization 26 cases (22.6%), and stent-assisted coil embolization 32 cases (27.8%). Complete, subtotal, and incomplete occlusion of WIA was achieved in 32 cases (27.8%), 62 cases (53.9%), and 18 cases (15.7%), respectively. There was 9.6% complication occurred. The designed joints have the ability to set a variable stiffness characteristic, thanks to which it is possible to use this joint universally in dummies representing populations of other percentile sizes. The range of movement of the joints has been selected to reflect the range of mobility of the upper limb of an adult. The characteristics of the joints were compared with those used in the joints of the Hybrid III 50 percentile male dummy. Moreover, it should be noted that the constructed joints of the upper limb are made by hand; therefore, their comparison with the Hybrid III dummy shows some deviations in the moments of resistance. Ten of these species were selected as case studies, representing species from different geographic regions and illustrating the marketing mechanisms. Many such species that are new to science are neither assessed by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List of Threatened Species nor are they covered by international legislation, even though in several countries, where such internationally sought-after species are caught, national protection measures are in place. This paper analyses the challenges and opportunities for the protection of potentially threatened and newly described reptile and amphibian species against over-exploitation for the pet trade.Hepatic encephalopathy (HE) is a devastating complication of cirrhosis with an increasing footprint in global public health. Administrative data is generated with each health care encounter to account for health care resource utilization and is extracted into a dataset for the secondary purpose of research. In order to utilize such data for valid analysis, several pitfalls must be avoided-specifically, selecting the particular database capable of meeting the needs of the study's aims, paying careful attention to the limits of each given database, and ensuring validity of case definition for HE specific to the dataset. In this review, we summarize the types of data available for and the results of administrative data studies of HE.

Plot-scale diagnosis was customized using the closest successful factor-specific tissue compositions identified by the smallest Euclidean distance from the diagnosed composition using centered or isometric log ratios. Nutrient imbalance differed between regional and plot-scale diagnoses, indicating the profound influence of local factors on plant nutrition. However, plot-scale diagnoses require large, reliable datasets to customize nutrient management using ML and CoDa models.We performed a quantum-mechanical study of the effect of antiphase boundaries (APBs) on structural, magnetic and vibrational properties of Fe3Al compound. The studied APBs have the 001 crystallographic orientation of their sharp interfaces and they are characterized by a 1/2〈111〉 shift of atomic planes. There are two types of APB interfaces formed by either two adjacent planes of Fe atoms or by two adjacent planes containing both Fe and Al atoms. The averaged APB interface energy is found to be 80 mJ/m2 and we estimate the APB interface energy of each of the two types of interfaces to be within the range of 40-120 mJ/m2. The studied APBs affect local magnetic moments of Fe atoms near the defects, increasing magnetic moments of FeII atoms by as **** as 11.8% and reducing those of FeI atoms by up to 4%. When comparing phonons in the Fe3Al with and without APBs within the harmonic approximation, we find a very strong influence of APBs. In particular, we have found a significant reduction of gap in frequencies that separates phonon modes below 7.9 THz and above 9.2 THz in the defect-free Fe3Al. All the APBs-induced changes result in a higher free energy, lower entropy and partly also a lower harmonic phonon energy in Fe3Al with APBs when compared with those in the defect-free bulk Fe3Al.In this paper, an ultra-wideband flexible absorber is proposed. Based on a summary of the absorption mechanism, using lossless air to replace the heavy lossy dielectric layer will not substantially impact the absorption. The dielectric layer is only a thin layer of polyimide. The proposed absorber is a sandwich structure. The surface is a layer of copper metal ring and wire, and it is loaded with chip resistors to expand the absorber bandwidth. Simulated results show that the bandwidth of the proposed absorber, with an absorptivity of more than 90%, is 2.55-10.07 GHz, with a relative bandwidth over 119.2%. When the electromagnetic wave has a wide incident angle, the absorber still maintains a high absorption. This absorber has been fabricated by FPC (flexible printed circuit) technology. The proposed absorber was attached to the cylinder and measured. The measurement results are roughly the same as the simulation results. The fabricated absorber is easy to carry and flexible, such that it can easily be conformed to irregular objects. The proposed absorber is polarization-insensitive, low profile, thin, and portable, so it is easier to apply in a variety of practical fields.Practical applications of machine olfaction have been eagerly awaited. A free-hand measurement, in which a measurement device is manually exposed to sample odors, is expected to be a key technology to realize practical machine olfaction. To implement odor identification systems based on the free-hand measurement, the comprehensive development of a measurement system including hardware, measurement protocols, and data analysis is necessary. In this study, we developed palm-size wireless odor measurement devices equipped with Membrane-type Surface stress Sensors (MSS) and investigated the effect of measurement protocols and feature selection on odor identification. By using the device, we measured vapors of liquids as odor samples through the free-hand measurement in different protocols. From the measurement data obtained with these protocols, datasets of transfer function ratios (TFRs) were created and analyzed by clustering and machine learning classification. It has been revealed that TFRs in the low-frequency range below 1 Hz notably contributed to vapor identification because the frequency components in that range reflect the dynamics of the detection mechanism of MSS. We also showed the optimal measurement protocol for accurate classification. This study has shown a guideline of the free-hand measurement and will contribute to the practical implementation of machine olfaction in society.Research suggests that the dietary quality (DQ) of school lunches meeting the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) requirements may vary significantly. Possible drivers of variation include factors, such as socioeconomic status (SES) and rurality. The purpose of this cross-sectional study was to determine whether there was variation in nutrient content and DQ by SES and rurality, when analyzing middle school lunch menus meeting NSLP requirements. A random sample of 45 Kansas middle school lunch menus each were obtained from websites of randomly selected districts from low- and high-SES strata. Thirty-day menus were analyzed for nutrient content. Healthy Eating Index (HEI) 2015 scores were calculated for DQ. Rurality was determined for schools by National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) locale. There were significant differences in added sugar (p less then 0.001) and calcium (p = 0.001) favoring high-SES menus, and in sodium (p = 0.001) favoring low-SES menus. There were no nutrient differences by rurality. The HEI scores were not different by SES or rurality, with a mean score (SD) 61.9 (2.6) across all schools. Middle school lunch DQ in Kansas does not vary by SES or rurality. In this study, a series of diaryl disulfides with varying alkyl chain length (C8-C16) was synthesized and assessed for their physicochemical and biological properties. The interactions of compounds with bovine serum albumin (BSA) was investigated in order to study their ability to bind with blood serum protein. An increase in the binding constants (Ka) was observed with increasing chain length C8-C12, while a decrease in value was obtained with compounds of chain length C14 and C16 showing a cut off effect at C12. The thermodynamic parameters of binding indicated that the compounds bound to BSA mostly by van der Waals forces and hydrogen bonding. Molecular docking studies showed that the diaryl disulfides displayed greater binding affinity to Trp 213 rather than the Trp 134 residue on the BSA molecule. The trend observed in molecular docking is in line with the fluorescence binding studies whereby the C12 derivative was found to show optimum affinity with BSA. The disulfide with chain length C10 showed moderate antibacterial activity the highest inhibitory activity against Bacillus cereus. The cytotoxicity of the disulfides towards HaCaT cells decreased from C8 to C14. The overall results obtained show that these disulfides have potent antibacterial properties against Gram-positive bacteria Bacillus cereus at concentrations which are relatively non-toxic to normal cells.This paper evaluates current food commodity trading from the Shariah point of view, which is particularly relevant for the MENA region. It focuses on futures contracts as the main instrument for grain trading and analyzes the traders' activities. Through a qualitative and multifaceted approach, the paper accumulates and evaluates the suggestions for 15 Shariah-based alternatives to futures by contemporary researchers. Sukuk, commodity funds and takaful programs are among potential structures that could be developed and broadly implemented. The research compares the current criticism of futures markets with the opinions of Islamic scholars and researchers, as well as Shariah standards. The paper also evaluates several recent suggestions by researchers to raise the efficiency of the international commodity trading market for the sake of food security. The results show that there is space for cooperation taking into account Islamic financial principles and conventional commodity exchange regulations, in combining existing best practices of the latter and the rulings of the former in engineering a sounder system of grain trading for the benefit of market players and the end consumers. This would require a joint effort and support from exchanges, standard-setting bodies, and regulators. Among the areas of cooperation are the approach towards corners (ihtikar), squeezes, speculation (gharar, maysir, and najash), and defining the border between reasonable and excess speculation; financial architecture using new technologies in developing a commodity trading contract conforming to the Shariah regulations and the exchange requirements. Medically unexplained physical symptoms (MUPS) and related syndromes are common and place a substantial burden on both patients and society. Chronic psychological distress and dysregulation of the autonomic nervous system may be common factors associated with MUPS, although previous studies have reported mixed results. The aims of this meta-analysis are to provide an updated synthesis of studies investigating heart rate variability (HRV) indices associated with autonomic nervous system functioning in three common MUPS syndromes and to explain inconsistencies in previous study findings.
Literature search yielded 58 studies comparing HRV indices of reduced parasympathetic activity of healthy individuals with those of patients with chronic fatigue syndrome (npatients = 271), irritable bowel syndrome (npatients = 1005), and fibromyalgia (npatients = 534). Separate random-effects meta-analyses were conducted on studies measuring root mean square of successive differences (RMSSD) and high-frequency HRV (HF-HRV)g mechanisms and treatment of MUPS and related syndromes.
Fecal calprotectin (FC), a biomarker of gastrointestinal (GI) inflammation, is used in the diagnosis and management of inflammatory bowel disease. HIV infection severely damages gut-associated lymphoid and epithelial tissues leading to GI inflammation that drives systemic inflammation and increases subsequent risk of comorbidities. For the first time, we compared FC concentrations by HIV and antiretroviral therapy (ART) status and determined the relationship to systemic inflammation.
People with and without HIV were enrolled and underwent a comprehensive clinical and laboratory assessment. Stool samples were collected, and FC was measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay ELISA. Plasma biomarkers of inflammation were also measured.
One hundred one participants with HIV (83 ART-treated and 18 ART-naive) and 89 uninfected controls were enrolled. There were no significant differences between ART-naive and ART-treated participants, but both HIV groups had significantly higher FC concentrations than contrte measurement of GI inflammation and associated systemic inflammation in HIV.
To study if one can conceptualize the scalp ictal onset pattern through analysis of interictal spike domain analysis in temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE).
Seventy-four patients with unilateral mesial temporal sclerosis (MTS) were categorized into "type A" interictal epileptiform discharges (IEDs) with negativity over infero-lateral scalp electrodes over temporal region and contralateral central region showing positivity; all IEDs other than type A were categorized as type B. The ictal electrographic patterns was termed "focal" when confined to side of MTS, was "regional" when lateralized to the ipsilateral hemisphere; "diffuse" if nonlateralized/localized; and ictal onset contralateral to MTS termed as "discordant."
A total of 377 seizures and 5,476 spikes were studied. These were divided into four types (1) type A IEDs ipsilateral to MTS (44 patients), (2) type A IEDs bitemporally (16 patients), (3) type A IEDs contralaterally (7 patients) and type B IEDs ipsilaterally, and (4) bilateral type B IEDs (7 patients). The ictal pattern was either focal or regional in 51 of 60 patients (85%) with type A IEDs; it was "diffuse" in 9 patients (15%). Diffuse ictal onset was seen in 12 of 14 (86%) with either ipsilateral/bitemporal type B IEDs. Ictal onset on the opposite hemisphere was noted in 2 (14%).
Type A IEDs signify a focal ictal onset and type B IEDs suggest a diffuse ictal onset in patients with MTS on one side.

Residual fear from previous medical interventions and concerns about exacerbating functional impairments influenced cancer treatment preferences. Participants also raised concerns that their underlying disability may be used to justify less aggressiting of accessibility barriers, facilitate efforts to accommodate patients with preexisting disability to improve quality of care in diagnosing and treating cancer.

The specialty needs tools to start addressing these disparities. This manuscript aims to provide strategic and intentional evidence-based recommendations for programs to follow. Holistic review, implicit bias training, structured interviews, and targeted outreach for those underrepresented in medicine are some of the tools that will help students to enter and become successful in our specialty. Furthermore, this paper provides novel guidance and considerations for virtual interviews during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The synthesis of graphene-based materials has attracted considerable attention in drug delivery strategies. Indeed, the conductivity and mechanical stability of graphene have been investigated for controlled and tunable drug release via electric or mechanical stimuli. However, the design of a thermo-sensitive scaffold using pristine graphene (without distortions related to the oxidation processes) has not been deeply investigated yet, although it may represent a promising approach for several therapeutic treatments. Here, few-layer graphene was used as a nanofiller in a hydrogel system with a thermally tunable drug release profile. In particular, varying the temperature (25 °C, 37 °C and 44 °C), responsive drug releases were noticed and hypothesized depending on the formation and perturbation of π-π interactions involving graphene, the polymeric matrix and the model drug (diclofenac). As a result, these hybrid hydrogels show a potential application as thermally triggered drug release systems in several healthcare scenarios.Glucosamine (GlcN) is a common drug used to treat osteoarthritis (OA). To prolong the action time of glucosamine on OA and improve its therapeutic effect, this research explored the potential application of GlcN-loaded thermosensitive hydrogels based on poloxamer 407 and poloxamer 188 for OA therapy by intra-articular injection. The thermosensitive hydrogels were prepared by cold method, and the effects of P407, P188, and GlcN on sol-gel transition temperature (Tsol-gel) were compared. After screening was performed, the optimized formulation showed good temperature sensitivity, and Tsol-gel was approximately 35 °C. In vitro release tests showed that GlcN was slowly released from the thermosensitive hydrogels. After the gels were intra-articularly administered to treat OA in rabbits, the degree of swelling and inflammatory factors were significantly decreased in the hydrogel group compared with those in the OA model group (P less then 0.05). Histological results showed that the GlcN-administered group had a good repair effect on damaged cartilage. At the same dose, the effect of the thermosensitive hydrogels was better than that of the aqueous solution. Therefore, GlcN-loaded thermosensitive hydrogels based on poloxamers are promising sustainable delivery systems for OA therapy by intra-articular injection.The aim of the present study was to develop innovative patches for dermo-cosmetic applications based on dissolvable hyaluronic acid (HA) microneedles (MNs) combined with bacterial nanocellulose (**) as the **** layer. Bio-sponges with shared interpenetrating polymeric network structures were attained at optimized BioPU coating formulation. The interpenetration of BioPU chains within the sponge construct resulted in the formation of numerous micro-networks in the interconnected microporous structure of sponges (porosity ≥75%). The dextran hydrogels were prepared by the solution casting using trisodium trimetaphosphate (STMP) as the crosslinking agent, and diclofenac sodium salt (Dcf) as the anionic model drug. Poly(2-ethylaniline) (PEAn) was successfully synthesized and embedded into the dextran hydrogel as the drug encapsulation host. The in-vitro release of Dcf from the hydrogels was investigated using a modified Franz-Diffusion cell in a phosphate-buffered saline (PBS) solution at the pH of 7.4 and at 37 °C for a period of 24 h, under the effects of crosslinking ratios, dextran molecular weights, electric potentials, and the conductive polymer PEAn. The release mechanism of Dcf from the dextran hydrogels and the composite without electrical potential was the diffusion controlled mechanism or the Fickian diffusion. Under applied electrical potentials, the release mechanism was a combination between the Fickian diffusion and the matrix swelling. The Dcf diffusion coefficients from the dextran hydrogels without electrical potential increased with decreasing crosslinking ratio and molecular weight. Under electrical potentials, the corresponding diffusion coefficients were **** higher due mainly to the electro-repulsive force between the negatively charged electrode and the negatively charged dextran and the induced dextran expansion. For the Dcf-loaded PEAn/dextran composite, the diffusion coefficient was enhanced by two orders of magnitude when the electric potential was applied, specifically illustrating the unique features of PEAn as an efficient drug encapsulation host without electric field, and as a drug release enhancer under electric field through the reduction reaction.
The synthesis of graphene-based materials has attracted considerable attention in drug delivery strategies. Indeed, the conductivity and mechanical stability of graphene have been investigated for controlled and tunable drug release via electric or mechanical stimuli. However, the design of a thermo-sensitive scaffold using pristine graphene (without distortions related to the oxidation processes) has not been deeply investigated yet, although it may represent a promising approach for several therapeutic treatments. Here, few-layer graphene was used as a nanofiller in a hydrogel system with a thermally tunable drug release profile. In particular, varying the temperature (25 °C, 37 °C and 44 °C), responsive drug releases were noticed and hypothesized depending on the formation and perturbation of π-π interactions involving graphene, the polymeric matrix and the model drug (diclofenac). As a result, these hybrid hydrogels show a potential application as thermally triggered drug release systems in several healthcare scenarios.Glucosamine (GlcN) is a common drug used to treat osteoarthritis (OA). To prolong the action time of glucosamine on OA and improve its therapeutic effect, this research explored the potential application of GlcN-loaded thermosensitive hydrogels based on poloxamer 407 and poloxamer 188 for OA therapy by intra-articular injection. The thermosensitive hydrogels were prepared by cold method, and the effects of P407, P188, and GlcN on sol-gel transition temperature (Tsol-gel) were compared. After screening was performed, the optimized formulation showed good temperature sensitivity, and Tsol-gel was approximately 35 °C. In vitro release tests showed that GlcN was slowly released from the thermosensitive hydrogels. After the gels were intra-articularly administered to treat OA in rabbits, the degree of swelling and inflammatory factors were significantly decreased in the hydrogel group compared with those in the OA model group (P less then 0.05). Histological results showed that the GlcN-administered group had a good repair effect on damaged cartilage. At the same dose, the effect of the thermosensitive hydrogels was better than that of the aqueous solution. The interpenetration of BioPU chains within the sponge construct resulted in the formation of numerous micro-networks in the interconnected microporous structure of sponges (porosity ≥75%). Prior research with the EWFT did not include an assessment of Theory of Mind. Thus, two Theory of Mind tasks, the Reading the Mind in the Eyes Test and the Unexpected Outcomes Test, were also investigated. A confirmatory factor analysis with verbal fluency and Theory of Mind as latent variables had good model fit and suggested that the EWFT is both a verbal fluency task as well as a Theory of Mind task. EWFT score was not significantly correlated with the Reading the Mind in the Eyes Test score. In the literature, these constructs are often treated interchangeably because of their shared focus on general disconstraint and a lack of direct comparisons between measures of each. The current work used structural modeling to examine conceptual and empirical differences between 2 popular operationalizations of these traits in 2 samples (Ns = 400, 308), and employed regression and dominance analyses to compare their predictive relations with criterion measures of externalizing problems and negative affectivity (NA). Impulsigenic traits were related both to externalizing problems and NA, whereas trait disinhibition was selectively associated with externalizing. In a dominance analysis, trait disinhibition exhibited complete dominance over all impulsigenic traits in predicting externalizing problems. Conversely, multiple impulsigenic traits evidenced complete dominance over trait disinhibition in prediction of NA. The current work provides evidence that (a) disinhibition and impulsigenic traits are not interchangeable, (b) disinhibition specifically indexes propensity for externalizing problems, and (c) impulsigenic traits reflect a blend of externalizing and NA that appears relevant to diverse forms of psychopathology. The goal of this study was to compare the susceptibility of the ****format and the RS format to faking in a simulated high-stakes setting when using normative scoring for both formats. Participants were randomly assigned to 3 groups (total N = 1,867) and filled out the Big Five Triplets once under an honest instruction and once under a fake-good instruction. Latent mean differences between the honest and fake-good administrations indicated that the Big Five domains were faked in the expected direction. Faking effects for all traits were larger for RS compared with MFC. Faking effects were also larger for the ****version with mixed triplets compared with the ****version with triplets that were fully matched regarding their social desirability. The ****format does not prevent faking completely, but it reduces faking substantially.
