     Chemosaturation percutaneous hepatic perfusion (CS-PHP) allows selective intrahepatic delivery of high dose cytotoxic melphalan in patients with curatively untreatable liver tumors while limiting systemic toxicity through hemofiltration of the hepatic venous blood.      COVID-19 has a variable, but well-described course. However, some patients additionally present with neurological symptoms. Recent studies also show a broad range of neuroimaging features. The purpose of this study was to perform a snapshot analysis to approximate the frequency and types of neuroimaging findings on CT and MRI scans in a large cohort of SARS-CoV-2-positive patients in a level I COVID-19 center, both in general and in critically ill patients.

     We retrospectively analyzed brain CT and MRI scans of 34 hospitalized COVID-19 patients at our level I COVID-19 center between March 15 and April 24 with regard to pathological neuroimaging findings. In addition, clinical parameters such as neurological symptoms, comorbidities, and type of ventilation therapy were also documented. A descriptive statistical analysis was performed.

     To assess the value of the administration of positive rectal contrast at CT in patients referred for suspected diverticular disease (DD) of the colon.

     460 patients (253 male, 207 female; median age 62 years; interquartile range 24) with clinical suspicion of DD of the colon were included in this retrospective IRB-approved study.     Genotypic variability in M. hyopneumoniae has been reported within and among herds. However, information regarding VNTR types within single lung lobes is lacking. The objective of his study was to analyse M. hyopneumoniae infections and their association with VNTR types and lung lesions at the lobe level. Lungs from 300 pigs from 10 farms experiencing an enzootic pneumonia outbreak were collected and scored. M. hyopneumoniae was detected by real-time PCR and genotyped by MLVA assay in all samples.

    The results showed genotypic variability within single pigs and among lung lobes. At the lobe level, infection with one VNTR type (SN infection) was dominant. Lobes with lesion scores > 0 were associated with positive results for real-time PCR. At the lobe level, no relationship was observed between infections with more than one genotype (MX infections) and the proportion of Mycoplasma-like lesions. Lesion-free lobes presented a higher proportion of MX infections than lobes scored > 0. M. hyopneumoniae washe relationship between genotypes and the lung lesions magnitude.
    The results did not show a significant association between the number of detected genotypes and the severity of the lesions at the lung lobe level, but revealed the unexpected detection of M. hyopneumoniae genotypes in lesion-free lobes.     This study aims to design and validate ten projective images of Young's Early Maladaptive Schema (EMS) domains. For this purpose, two questions are to be addressed. (1) How is the factorial structure of the projective images of EMS domains? (2) Do the images designed in the domains of disconnection and rejection, impaired autonomy and performance, impaired limits, other-directedness, and over-vigilance and inhibition have sufficient validity?

    This is an applied mixed-methods exploratory study, in which the statistical population consisted of psychologists from Tehran Province in the qualitative section (n = 8) as well as other individuals aged between 18 and 65years (mean age = 33) from Qazvin in the quantitative section (n = 102) in 2018. The research questions were analyzed through principal axis factoring with a varimax rotation, confirmatory factor analysis, Pearson correlation coefficient, and Cronbach's alpha.

    According to the results, ten images and five domains of Young's EMSs contribute to a simple structure. Accounting for 70.35% of the total variance of EMSs, the five dimensions include disconnection and rejection, impaired autonomy and performance, impaired limits, other-directedness, and over-vigilance and inhibition.

    Emodin, a natural anthraquinone, has shown potential as an effective therapeutic agent in the treatment of many diseases including cancer. However, its clinical development is hindered by uncertainties surrounding its potential toxicity. The primary purpose of this study was to uncover any potential toxic properties of emodin in **** at doses that have been shown to have efficacy in our cancer studies. In addition, we sought to assess the time course of emodin clearance when administered both intraperitoneally (I.P.) and orally (P.O.) in order to begin to establish effective dosing intervals.

    We performed a subchronic (12 week) toxicity study using 3 different doses of emodin (~ 20 mg/kg, 40 mg/kg, and 80 mg/kg) infused into the AIN-76A diet of male and female C57BL/6 **** (n = 5/group/sex). Body weight and composition were assessed following the 12-week feeding regime. Tissues were harvested and assessed for gross pathological changes and blood was collected for a complete blood count and evaluation of aale and female **** when given at 20, 40, and 80 mg/kg doses for 12 weeks and 2) sex differences should be considered when establishing dosing intervals for emodin treatment.

    Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), including both Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, are chronic human diseases that are challenging to cure and are often unable to be resolved. The inbred mouse strain C57BL/6 N has been used in investigations of IBD as an experimental animal model. The purpose of the current study was to compare the inflammatory responsiveness of C57BL/6NKorl ****, a sub-strain recently established by the National Institute of Food and Drug Safety Evaluation (NIFDS), with those of C57BL/6 N **** from two different sources using a dextran sulfate sodium (DSS)-induced colitis model.

    Male **** (8 weeks old) were administered DSS (0, 1, 2, or 3%) in drinking water for 7 days. DSS significantly decreased body weight and colon length and increased the colon weight-to-length ratio. Moreover, severe colitis-related clinical signs including diarrhea and rectal bleeding were observed beginning on day 4 in **** administered DSS at a concentration of 3%. DSS led to edema, epithelial layer disruption, inflammatory cell infiltration, and cytokine induction (tumor necrosis factor-α, interleukin-6, and interleukin-1β) in the colon tissues. However, no significant differences in DSS-promoted abnormal symptoms or their severity were found between the three sub-strains.

  • Food insecurity is a social determinant of health associated with cognitive impairments in older adults and people living with HIV (PLWH). Few studies have examined this relation longitudinally, and no studies have explored how the frequency of food insecurity over time may impact cognitive impairment.

The purpose of this analysis is to describe the scope of NHLBI-funded extramural nutrition research grants over the past decade and offer insights into future opportunities for nutrition research relevant to NHLBI's mission.

    Data were extracted using the Research, Condition, and Disease Categorization spending categories from the publicly available NIH Research Portfolio Online Reporting Tool Expenditures and Results. New 2018 and 2019 grants were coded into categories and mapped to the 2016 NHLBI Strategic Vision priorities.

    Approximately 90% of nutrition research funds supported extramural grants, particularly through investigator-initiated R series grants (69.6%). Of these, 19.8%were classified as clinical trials. Consistent nutrition-related topics, includingphysical activity, weight loss, fatty acids, metabolic syndrome, childhood obesity, and other topics such as gut microbiota, arterial stiffness, sleep duration, and meal timing, emerged in 2014-2019. Mapping of the NHLBI Strategic Vision objectives revealedthat 32% of newly funded grants focused on pathobiological mechanisms important to the onset and progression of heart, lung, blood, and sleep disorders, with opportunities including developing novel diagnostic and therapeutic strategies and clinical and implementation science research.

Molecular tests such as the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) are rapid and sensitive and are increasingly becoming a preferred method for pathogen detection. However, the presence of PCR inhibiting substances in the analyzed samples could reduce the sensitivity or totally inhibit PCR amplification, which might result in failure of detection of the pathogen. Using multiplex real-time PCR, I investigated the detection of Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium in three herbal matrices containing inhibiting substances i) chamomile (Matricaria recutita); ii) sage (Salvia officinalis) and iii) mint (Menthae piperitae). Internal positive controls (IPC) in the multiplex PCR reactions indicated the degree of inhibition. All of the three herbs inhibited PCR amplification at standard concentration of the matrix (10% suspensions). I applied and compared four approaches to overcome the negative effect of the matrices on the PCR detection of Salmonella. The efficiency strongly depended on the matrix and the method used for removing the inhibiting substances. By a series of centrifugation steps combined with direct PCR, I managed to remove the PCR inhibitors and successfully detected the pathogen in each of the tested matrices. Moreover, this approach did not decrease significantly the PCR sensitivity and the detection of the pathogen was with Cq delay of only 1.48 ± 1.05 cycle, compared to the control. Hence, by the proposed method, PCR detection of Salmonella became possible in matrices with strong inhibitory effect on the PCR reaction. In summary, a simple, efficient, reliable, quick and cost-effective generic approach for removal of PCR inhibitors, and detection of foodborne bacterial pathogens in complex matrices containing PCR inhibitors, was proposed.Five closely related species of greater fritillaries occur in North America east of the Mississippi River regal fritillary (Speyeria idalia Drury [Lepidoptera Nymphalidae]), Diana fritillary (Speyeria diana Cramer [Lepidoptera Nymphalidae]), great spangled fritillary (Speyeria cybele Fabricius [Lepidoptera Nymphalidae]), Atlantis fritillary (Speyeria atlantis Edwards [Lepidoptera Nymphalidae]), and Aphrodite fritillary (Speyeria aphrodite Fabricius [Lepidoptera Nymphalidae]).   • Uncapping of actin filaments is essential for driving polymerization and depolymerization dynamics from capping protein-associated filaments; however, the mechanisms of uncapping leading to rapid disassembly are unknown. Here, we elucidated the x-ray crystal structure of the actin/twinfilin/capping protein complex to address the mechanisms of twinfilin uncapping of actin filaments. The twinfilin/capping protein complex binds to two G-actin subunits in an orientation that resembles the actin filament barbed end. This suggests an unanticipated mechanism by which twinfilin disrupts the stable capping of actin filaments by inducing a G-actin conformation in the two terminal actin subunits. Furthermore, twinfilin disorders critical actin-capping protein interactions, which will assist in the dissociation of capping protein, and may promote filament uncapping through a second mechanism involving V-1 competition for an actin-binding surface on capping protein. The extensive interactions with capping protein indicate that the evolutionary conserved role of twinfilin is to uncap actin filaments.Spatially resolved RNA and protein molecular analyses have revealed unexpected heterogeneity of cells. Ion beams were used to measure sub-5-nanometer layers of tissue across 150 sections of a tonsil. To incorporate cell specificity, tonsil tissues were labeled by an isotope-tagged antibody library. To explore relations of metabolic and cellular features, we carried out data reduction, 3D spatial correlations and classifications, unsupervised K-means clustering, and network analyses. Immune cells exhibited spatially distinct lipidomic fragment distributions in lymphatic tissue. The 3D-SMF pipeline affects studying the immune cells in health and disease.The physical behavior of anisotropic charged colloids is determined by their material dielectric anisotropy, affecting colloidal self-assembly, biological function, and even out-of-equilibrium behavior. However, little is known about anisotropic electrostatic screening, which underlies all electrostatic effective interactions in such soft or biological materials. In this work, we demonstrate anisotropic electrostatic screening for charged colloidal particles in a nematic electrolyte. We show that material anisotropy behaves markedly different from particle anisotropy. The electrostatic potential and pair interactions decay with an anisotropic Debye screening length, contrasting the constant screening length for isotropic electrolytes. Charged dumpling-shaped near-spherical colloidal particles in a nematic medium are used as an experimental model system to explore the effects of anisotropic screening, demonstrating competing anisotropic elastic and electrostatic effective pair interactions for colloidal surface charges tunable from neutral to high, yielding particle-separated metastable states. Fabrications of the epidermal biomicrofluidic device including formation of flexible electrodes, nanomaterial modification, and enzyme immobilization are fully realized by inkjet printing to enable facile manufacturing with low cost, which benefits practical production.Antibiotic resistance is now a major threat to human health, and one approach to combating this threat is to develop resistance-resistant antibiotics. Synthetic antimicrobial polymers are generally resistance resistant, having good activity with low resistance rates but usually with low therapeutic indices. Here, we report our solution to this problem by introducing dual-selective mechanisms of action to a short amidine-rich polymer, which can simultaneously disrupt bacterial membranes and bind to bacterial DNA. The oligoamidine shows unobservable resistance generation but high therapeutic indices against many bacterial types, such as ESKAPE strains and clinical isolates resistant to multiple drugs, including colistin. The oligomer exhibited excellent effectiveness in various model systems, killing extracellular or intracellular bacteria in the presence of mammalian cells, removing all bacteria from Caenorhabditis elegans, and rescuing **** with severe infections. UBR7 stabilizes PRPS catalytic subunits by mediating the polyubiquitination-directed degradation of PRPS-associated protein (PRPSAP), the negative regulator of PRPS. Loss of UBR7 leads to nucleotide biosynthesis defects. We define UBR7 as a transcriptional target of NOTCH1 and show that UBR7 is overexpressed in NOTCH1-driven T cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T-ALL).   • The present study was conducted to determine the genes with common expression in blood and appendix tissue samples in order to introduce them as possible diagnostic biomarkers.

    Diagnosis of acute appendicitis (AA) without applying computed tomographytomography (CT), subjecting the patient to significant radiation, can be surprisingly difficult. Blood circulation may have conscious alterations in its RNA, protein, or metabolite composition.

    The genes related to appendix tissue and blood samples of the patients with AA were extracted from public databases. Fold change (FC) ≥ 2 in blood and FC ≥ 5 in appendix tissue samples were considered to screen differentially expressed genes (DEGs). A protein-protein interaction network was organized using the search tool for retrieval of interacting genes and proteins (STRING) database as a plugin of Cytoscape software version 3.6.0. The main genes were enriched by DAVID Bioinformatics Resources to find the related biochemical pathways.

    Among the DEGs in blood and appendix tissue samples, C-X-C motif chemokine receptor 1(CXCR1), leukocyte immunoglobulin-like receptor A3 (LILRA3), low-affinity immunoglobulin gamma Fc region receptor III (FCGR3), and superoxide dismutase 2(SOD2) were common in both sources. CXCR1 was found as only hub gene upregulated in both blood and tissue of the patients with AA compared to controls and those with other abdominal pain.

    CXCR1, FCGR3, LILRA3, and SOD2 were determined as a suitable possible biomarker panel for diagnosis of AA disease.

    Evaluation of deregulated genes after long-term consuming of omeprazole via network analysis.

    Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) are used to inhibit gastric high rate of acid secretion in patients. Omeprazole as a PPI is a common drug in this regard. Evaluation of long-term consumption of omeprazole is studied in the present study via its effects on the gene expression of "human coronary artery endothelial cells".

After analyzing these networks correlation between these two diseases and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), suggesting that a small change in each of these three diseases can lead to development of any other diseases in the patients. Also, the enrichments exhibited the existence of common pathways between AD, diabetes, NAFLD, and male infertility.

    The present study was conducted to determine the genes with common expression in blood and appendix tissue samples in order to introduce them as possible diagnostic biomarkers. Diagnosis of acute appendicitis (AA) without applying computed tomographytomography (CT), subjecting the patient to significant radiation, can be surprisingly difficult. Blood circulation may have conscious alterations in its RNA, protein, or metabolite composition. The genes related to appendix tissue and blood samples of the patients with AA were extracted from public databases. Fold change (FC) ≥ 2 in blood and FC ≥ 5 in appendix tissue samples were considered to screen differentially expressed genes (DEGs). A protein-protein interaction network was organized using the search tool for retrieval of interacting genes and proteins (STRING) database as a plugin of Cytoscape software version 3.6.0. The main genes were enriched by DAVID Bioinformatics Resources to find the related biochemical pathways. Among the DEGs in blood and appendix tissue samples, C-X-C motif chemokine receptor 1(CXCR1), leukocyte immunoglobulin-like receptor A3 (LILRA3), low-affinity immunoglobulin gamma Fc region receptor III (FCGR3), and superoxide dismutase 2(SOD2) were common in both sources.     The implications of molecular biomarkers
    1/2 mutations and
    gene promoter methylation were evaluated for prognostic outcome of glioma patients.

    A prospective investigation of serum thymidine kinase 1 concentration (STK1p) was performed to evaluate its prognostic value in patients with non-small-cell lung carcinoma (NSCLCs).

Combining navigation and manipulation made tasks easier by reducing workload, temporal demand, and physical effort.This article introduces progressive algorithms for the topological analysis of scalar data. Our approach is based on a hierarchical representation of the input data and the fast identification of topologically invariant vertices, which are vertices that have no impact on the topological description of the data and for which we show that no computation is required as they are introduced in the hierarchy. This enables the definition of efficient coarse-to-fine topological algorithms, which leverage fast update mechanisms for ordinary vertices and avoid computation for the topologically invariant ones. We demonstrate our approach with two examples of topological algorithms (critical point extraction and persistence diagram computation), which generate interpretable outputs upon interruption requests and which progressively refine them otherwise. Experiments on real-life datasets illustrate that our progressive strategy, in addition to the continuous visual feedback it provides, even improves run time performance with regard to non-progressive algorithms and we describe further accelerations with shared-memory parallelism. We illustrate the utility of our approach in batch-mode and interactive setups, where it respectively enables the control of the execution time of complete topological pipelines as well as previews of the topological features found in a dataset, with progressive updates delivered within interactive times.This article proposes an end-to-end learnt lossy image compression approach, which is built on top of the deep nerual network (DNN)-based variational auto-encoder (VAE) structure with Non-Local Attention optimization and Improved Context modeling (NLAIC). Our NLAIC 1) embeds non-local network operations as non-linear transforms in both main and hyper coders for deriving respective latent features and hyperpriors by exploiting both local and global correlations, 2) applies attention mechanism to generate implicit masks that are used to weigh the features for adaptive bit allocation, and 3) implements the improved conditional entropy modeling of latent features using joint 3D convolutional neural network (CNN)-based autoregressive contexts and hyperpriors. Towards the practical application, additional enhancements are also introduced to speed up the computational processing (e.g., parallel 3D CNN-based context prediction), decrease the memory consumption (e.g., sparse non-local processing) and reduce the implementation complexity (e.g., a unified model for variable rates without re-training). The proposed model outperforms existing learnt and conventional (e.g., BPG, JPEG2000, JPEG) image compression methods, on both Kodak and Tecnick datasets with the state-of-the-art compression efficiency, for both PSNR and MS-SSIM quality measurements. For preclinical in vivo cardiac PA imaging, the presence of these noise artifacts hampers the detectability and interpretation of PA signals from the myocardial wall, crucial for studying blood-dominated cardiac pathological information and to complement functional information derived from ultrasound imaging. In this article, we present PA subaperture processing (PSAP), an adaptive beamforming method, to mitigate these image degrading effects. In PSAP, a pair of DAS reconstructed images is formed by splitting the received channel data into two complementary nonoverlapping subapertures. Then, a weighting matrix is derived by analyzing the correlation between subaperture beamformed images and multiplied with the full-aperture DAS PA image to reduce sidelobes and incoherent clutter. We validated PSAP using numerical simulation studies using point target, diffuse inclusion and microvasculature imaging, and in vivo feasibility studies on five healthy murine models. Qualitative and quantitative analysis demonstrate improvements in PAI image quality with PSAP compared to DAS and coherence factor weighted DAS (DAS CF ). By prudently introducing interactive learning into the few-shot learning strategy, we develop a novel few-shot segmentation approach called Interactive Few-shot Learning (IFSL), which not only addresses the annotation burden of medical image segmentation models but also tackles the common issues of the known few-shot segmentation methods. First, we design a new few-shot segmentation structure, called Medical Prior-based Few-shot Learning Network (MPrNet), which uses only a few annotated samples (e.g., 10 samples) as support images to guide the segmentation of query images without any pre-training. Then, we propose an Interactive Learning-based Test Time Optimization Algorithm (IL-TTOA) to strengthen our MPrNet on the fly for the target task in an interactive fashion. To our best knowledge, our IFSL approach is the first to allow few-shot segmentation models to be optimized and strengthened on the target tasks in an interactive and controllable manner. Experiments on four few-shot segmentation tasks show that our IFSL approach outperforms the state-of-the-art methods by more than 20% in the DSC metric. Our approach is based on a hierarchical representation of the input data and the fast identification of topologically invariant vertices, which are vertices that have no impact on the topological description of the data and for which we show that no computation is required as they are introduced in the hierarchy. This enables the definition of efficient coarse-to-fine topological algorithms, which leverage fast update mechanisms for ordinary vertices and avoid computation for the topologically invariant ones. We demonstrate our approach with two examples of topological algorithms (critical point extraction and persistence diagram computation), which generate interpretable outputs upon interruption requests and which progressively refine them otherwise. Experiments on real-life datasets illustrate that our progressive strategy, in addition to the continuous visual feedback it provides, even improves run time performance with regard to non-progressive algorithms and we describe further accelerations with shared-memory parallelism. Our NLAIC 1) embeds non-local network operations as non-linear transforms in both main and hyper coders for deriving respective latent features and hyperpriors by exploiting both local and global correlations, 2) applies attention mechanism to generate implicit masks that are used to weigh the features for adaptive bit allocation, and 3) implements the improved conditional entropy modeling of latent features using joint 3D convolutional neural network (CNN)-based autoregressive contexts and hyperpriors. Towards the practical application, additional enhancements are also introduced to speed up the computational processing (e.g., parallel 3D CNN-based context prediction), decrease the memory consumption (e.g., sparse non-local processing) and reduce the implementation complexity (e.g., a unified model for variable rates without re-training). For preclinical in vivo cardiac PA imaging, the presence of these noise artifacts hampers the detectability and interpretation of PA signals from the myocardial wall, crucial for studying blood-dominated cardiac pathological information and to complement functional information derived from ultrasound imaging. In this article, we present PA subaperture processing (PSAP), an adaptive beamforming method, to mitigate these image degrading effects. In PSAP, a pair of DAS reconstructed images is formed by splitting the received channel data into two complementary nonoverlapping subapertures. Then, a weighting matrix is derived by analyzing the correlation between subaperture beamformed images and multiplied with the full-aperture DAS PA image to reduce sidelobes and incoherent clutter. We validated PSAP using numerical simulation studies using point target, diffuse inclusion and microvasculature imaging, and in vivo feasibility studies on five healthy murine models. Qualitative and quantitative analysis demonstrate improvements in PAI image quality with PSAP compared to DAS and coherence factor weighted DAS (DAS CF ). Using a hieresented by indigenous understory and midstorey plants, particularly indigenous graminoids, in our study area to promote indigenous insect biodiversity in urban greenspaces.     Treatment of nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) is evolving toward Intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) era, which requires patient-specific reestimation of survival outcomes in modern health care.

    A total of 488 detectable pre-treatment Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) DNA patients (stage II-IVa) treated with induction chemotherapy (IC) and IMRT were examined (training set, n = 325; validation set, n = 163).

    Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is frequently seen in patients with systemic sclerosis (SSc). Surgical treatment of recalcitrant GERD remains controversial. The purpose of this systematic review was to summarize the current data on surgical treatment of recalcitrant GERD in SSc patients.

    A systematic literature review according to PRISMA and MOOSE guidelines. PubMed, EMBASE, and Web of Science databases were consulted.

    A total of 101 patients were included from 7 studies. The age ranged from 34 to 61 years and the majority were females (73.5%). Commonly reported symptoms were heartburn (92%), regurgitation (77%), and dysphagia (74%). Concurrent pulmonary disease was diagnosed in 58% of patients. Overall, 63 patients (62.4%) underwent open fundoplication, 17 (16.8%) laparoscopic fundoplication, 15 (14.9%) Roux enriate surgical treatment is lacking.
    Melanoma is one of the highly immunogenic malignancies, and histological regression (HR) and tumor infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) represent early signs of activation of the immune system against primary melanoma. In this study we aimed to investigate the potential roles of HR and TILs on survival, as combined or separately.

    A total of 916 cutaneous melanomas were analyzed retrospectively.

    Only minority of the lesions had HR (25.1%) and they were associated with males (p = 0.002), axial localization (p = 0.0001), non-nodular histopathology (p = 0.0001), thin Breslow depth (p = 0.01) and nevus-associated melanoma (p = 0.03).     Few studies have so far focused on the preoperative presence of venous thromboembolism (VTE) in lung cancer patients undergoing surgery. In this study, we investigated the prevalence and risk factors for preoperative deep venous thrombosis (DVT) in patients scheduled to undergo lung cancer surgery.

    Between June 2013 and December 2018, 948 consecutive patients underwent lung cancer surgery in Kindai University Hospital. Four patients did not undergo screening for DVT; thus, 944 patients were enrolled in this study. Preoperatively, venous ultrasonography of the lower extremities was performed in patients deemed at risk for DVT, and the prevalence and risk factors for preoperative DVT were examined.

    Ninety-one patients (9.6%) were diagnosed with preoperative DVT, and postoperative symptomatic pulmonary thromboembolism occurred in one patient (0.11%). A multivariable logistic regression analysis demonstrated that female sex, age ≥ 72years, history of VTE, a Wells score ≥ 2 points, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and lower hemoglobin levels were significantly associated with preoperative DVT.

    Previous studies of stage III colon cancer using the hazard function demonstrated that the risk of recurrence in patients with adjuvant chemotherapy never exceeded that of patients without adjuvant chemotherapy.     To present the cross-case comparison component of a qualitative study exploring and describing the experiences of adults with an intellectual disability who have received trauma and orthopaedic hospital care for musculoskeletal conditions or injuries in the United Kingdom.

    A qualitative, exploratory study was conducted using 11 semi-structured interviews to describe the lived experiences of trauma and orthopaedic hospital care from the perspectives of people with intellectual disabilities and a carer of a person with profound and multiple intellectual disabilities. The data were analysed using interpretative phenomenological analysis. The Standards for Reporting Qualitative Research guidelines were applied.

    There were common and interconnected experiences across the five participants communication challenges; lack of person-centred care; issues related to pain management; lack of confidence in hospital care; the valuable support and expertise of carers; and incompetence of hospital staff and isolation and loneliness.

Model 3 was a post hoc modification with a correlation between four negatively worded items. The data was collected in September 2018 and May-June 2019.

    A total of 509 students were included in the study. Cronbach's alpha ranged from 0.44-0.70 for the dimensions and was 0.79 for the total questionnaire. The fit indexes of model 3 were as follows RMSEA=0.043, chi-square=724.3 (p<.000), normed chi-square=1.862, TLI=0.812 and CFI=0.832. The questionnaire shows some potential to display attitudes towards teamwork in health care among Bachelor of Nursing students. Low Cronbach's alpha in the dimensions might indicate that the questionnaire should be considered used as a unidimensional questionnaire.

Information was collected on demographic characteristics, gynaecological morbidities and IPV using a self-developed tool. Descriptive and inferential statistics were used to analyse the data.

    Logistic Regression showed a significant association between physical violence and burning micturition, increased urinary frequency, constant dribbling of urine, genital ulcers, lower abdominal pain, vaginal discharge and painful coitus (OR 1.41-1.84). A significant association between sexual and psychological abuse was also found with burning micturition (OR 1.41) and dribbling of urine (OR 0.12). Since gynaecological morbidities can have a serious effect on the psychological, physical well-being, and the social status of women in Pakistan; effective interventions are imperative in dealing with their symptoms and decreasing their emergence.

    We enrolled 105 patients, aged ≥50years, admitted to hospital and diagnosed with COPD from January 2015 to November 2016. The patients received usual care or PCC via telephone added to usual care. The Swedish Cardiac Self-Efficacy Scale comprising three dimensions (control symptoms, control illness and maintain functioning) was used as outcome measure. Data was collected at baseline, and at 3- and 6-month follow-ups.

    At both the 3- and 6-month follow-ups, the intervention group improved significantly more than the control group in the control illness dimension (p=.012 and p=.032, respectively). No differences were found in the other two dimensions.

Overall, adolescent effortful control appeared to protect against the emergence of internalizing symptoms in all cultures, but this effect faded over time. This study advances knowledge of the normative development of internalizing symptoms during adolescence across cultures while highlighting the predictive value of early adolescent temperament and parenting.

    This was a prospective study of patients with pulmonary nodules ≤ 30mm detected between 10/2019 and 01/2020 at four tertiary hospitals in China. All patients underwent a pathological examination of lung nodules found by imaging and were grouped as malignant and benign. CACs were detected by 4-color FISH. Patients were divided into the training and validation cohorts. Receiver operating characteristics analysis was used to analyze the diagnosis value of CACs.

    A total of 205 participants were enrolled. Using a cut-off value of ≥ 3, blood CACs achieved areas under the curve (AUCs) of 0.887, 0.823, and 0.823 for lung cancer in the training and validation cohorts, and all patients, respectively. Using liquid biopsies, pTERT mutations, C228T and C250T, and other clinically relevant biomarkers can be easily detected with high precision and sensitivity, facilitating longitudinal analysis throughout therapy and aid in cancer patient management.In this review, we explore the potential for pTERT mutation analysis, via liquid biopsy, for its potential use in personalised cancer therapy. We evaluate the relationship between pTERT mutations and other biomarkers as well as their potential clinical utility in early detection, prognostication, monitoring of cancer progress, with the main focus being on brain cancer. To investigate the efficacy and mechanism of ultrasound-targeted microbubble destruction (UTMD) combined with radiotherapy (XRT) on glioblastoma. The enhanced radiosensitization by UTMD was assessed through colony formation and cell apoptosis in Human glioblastoma cells (U87MG). Subcutaneous transplantation tumors in 24 nude mice implanted with U87MG cells were randomly assigned to 4 different treatment groups (Control, UTMD, XRT, and UTMD + XRT) based on tumor sizes (100-300mm ). Tumor growth was observed for 10days after treatment, and then histopathology stains (HE, CD34, and γH2AX) were applied to the tumor samples. A TUNEL staining experiment was applied to detect the apoptosis rate of mice tumor samples. Meanwhile, tissue proteins were extracted from animal specimens, and the expressions of dsDNA break repair-related proteins from animal specimens were examined by the western blot. When the radiotherapy dose was 4Gy, the colony formation rate of U87MG cells in the UTMD + XRT group was 32 ± 8%, loy achieved by the increased ability of DNA damage of tumor cells. Available biomarkers lack sensitivity for an early lung cancer. Circulating genetically abnormal cells (CACs) occur early in tumorigenesis. To determine the diagnostic value of CACs in blood detected by 4-color fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) for lung cancer. This was a prospective study of patients with pulmonary nodules ≤ 30mm detected between 10/2019 and 01/2020 at four tertiary hospitals in China. All patients underwent a pathological examination of lung nodules found by imaging and were grouped as malignant and benign. CACs were detected by 4-color FISH. Patients were divided into the training and validation cohorts. Receiver operating characteristics analysis was used to analyze the diagnosis value of CACs. A total of 205 participants were enrolled. Using a cut-off value of ≥ 3, blood CACs achieved areas under the curve (AUCs) of 0.887, 0.823, and 0.823 for lung cancer in the training and validation cohorts, and all patients, respectively. CACs had high diagnostic values across all tumor sizes and imaging lesion types.
