BACKGROUND Hypertension has gained global significance and risk of cardiovascular disease, and adiposity is the most important of the conditions associated with and considered responsible for hypertension in children. Therefore, the present study aimed to determine whether indices of adiposity independently predicted blood pressure at multiple points in gender-specific groups. METHODS This was a cross-sectional study involving 10 randomly selected primary schools within the Ellisras Longitudinal Study, and involved 1816 adolescents (876 girls and 940 boys) aged 8 to 17 years. All the anthropometric indices and blood pressures (BP) were examined according to the International Society for the Advancement of Kinanthropometry protocol. RESULTS In an adjusted linear quantile regression analysis of boys, waist circumference (WC) was associated with BP across all multiple points of systolic blood pressure (SBP). The bit accuracy was tested by simulation with a nonlinear control system of a robotic manipulator. The area, throughput, and dynamic power consumption of the implemented hardware are used to validate and compare the results of this proposal. In 19 volunteers (25.6 ± 2.0 years, 11 female), knee joint sounds were recorded by two acoustic sensors (16,000 Hz; medial tibial plateau, patella). All participants performed four sets standing up/sitting down (five repetitions each). For measuring intrasession reliability, we used a washout phase of 30 min between the first three sets, and for interday reliability we used a washout phase of one week between sets 3 and 4. The mean amplitude (dB) and median power frequency (Hz, MPF) were analyzed for each set. Intraclass correlation coefficients (ICCs (2,1)), standard errors of measurement (SEMs), and coefficients of variability (CVs) were calculated. The intrasession ICCs ranged from 0.85 to 0.95 (tibia) and from 0.73 to 0.87 (patella). The corresponding SEMs for the amplitude were ≤1.44 dB (tibia) and ≤2.38 dB (patella); for the MPF, SEMs were ≤13.78 Hz (tibia) and ≤14.47 Hz (patella). The intrasession CVs were ≤0.06 (tibia) and ≤0.07 (patella) (p less then 0.05). The interday ICCs ranged from 0.24 to 0.33 (tibia) and from 0 to 0.82 (patella) for both the MPF and amplitude. The interday SEMs were ≤4.39 dB (tibia) and ≤6.85 dB (patella) for the amplitude and ≤35.39 Hz (tibia) and ≤15.64 Hz (patella) for the MPF. The CVs were ≤0.14 (tibia) and ≤0.08 (patella). RNA-guided CRISPR-Cas9 nucleases (RGNs) are opening new DMD therapeutic routes whose bottlenecks include delivering sizable RGN complexes for assessing their effects on human genomes and testing ex vivo and in vivo DMD-correcting strategies. Here, high-capacity adenoviral vectors (HC-AdVs) encoding single or dual high-specificity RGNs with optimized components were investigated for permanently repairing defective DMD alleles either through exon 51-targeted indel formation or major mutational hotspot excision (>500 kb), respectively. Firstly, we establish that, at high doses, third-generation HC-AdVs lacking all viral genes are significantly less cytotoxic than second-generation adenoviral vectors deleted in E1 and E2A. Secondly, we demonstrate that genetically retargeted HC-AdVs can correct up to 42% ± 13% of defective DMD alleles in muscle cell populations through targeted removal of the major mutational hotspot, in which over 60% of frame-shifting large deletions locate. Both DMD gene repair strategies tested readily led to the detection of Becker-like dystrophins in unselected muscle cell populations, leading to the restoration of β-dystroglycan at the plasmalemma of differentiated muscle cells. Hence, HC-AdVs permit the effective assessment of DMD gene-editing tools and strategies in dystrophin-defective human cells while broadening the gamut of DMD-correcting agents.To satisfy an increasing demand to reconstruct an athlete's motion for performance analysis, this paper proposes a new method for reconstructing the position and velocity in the context of ski jumping trajectories. Therefore, state-of-the-art wearable sensors, including an inertial measurement unit, a magnetometer, and a GPS logger are used. The method employs an extended Rauch-Tung-Striebel smoother with state constraints to estimate state information offline from recorded raw measurements. In comparison to the classic inertial navigation system and GPS integration solution, the proposed method includes additional geometric shape information of the ski jumping hill, which are modeled as soft constraints and embedded into the estimation framework to improve the position and velocity estimation accuracy. Results for both simulated measurement data and real measurement data demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method. Moreover, a comparison between jump lengths obtained from the proposed method and video recordings shows the relative root-mean-square error of the reconstructed jump length is below 1.

A search for English-language articles from the electronic databases PubMed, SCOPUS, and the COCHRANE library was conducted over a period of five months in accordance with the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses guidelines and the Cochrane Handbook. The following keywords were used to aid retrieval stents, children, lacrimal intubation, endoscopic dacryocystorhinostomy, external dacryocystorhinostomy, NLDO, dacryocystitis, congenital, acquired. The primary outcome was defined as the success of the intervention, determined by resolution of symptoms and patency of the lacrimal aence, such as observational non-randomised trials.The use of smart devices to obtain real-time data has notably increased in the context of training. These technological tools provide data which monitor the external load and technical-tactical actions related to psychological and physical health in junior tennis players. The purpose of this paper is to monitor technical-tactical actions and physical activity during a current tennis competition in the Green stage using a Zepp Tennis Smart Sensor 2. The participants were 20 junior tennis players (under 10 years of age), with an average age of 9.46 years. The total number of strokes (n= 21,477) during 75 matches was analyzed. The study variables were the following aspects (a) number of strokes, (b) ball impact in the sweet spot; (c) racket speed; (d) ball spin; (e) calories burned; and (f) match time. The current system of competition, based on knockout, does not meet the World Health Organization's recommendations for daily physical activity time. Players mainly used flat forehands with a lack of variability in technical-tactical actions which did not meet the current learning opportunity criteria of comprehensive methodologies. The competition system in under-11 tennis should be adapted to the players' characteristics by improving the variability and quantity of practice.BACKGROUND Non-invasive application of whole-body vibration (WBV) has the potential for inducing improvements in impaired peripheral circulation, cutaneous sensation and balance among older adults. METHODS Each subject randomly underwent four sessions of intervention (three bouts of 1 min exposure with 1 min between-bout rests) WBV at 15, 20, or 25 Hz with a peak-to-peak displacement of 4 mm, or control condition. RESULTS Both during and after intervention, dorsal foot skin blood flow increased significantly under 20 and 25 Hz exposure conditions with greater responses under the latter condition, the magnitude of which slightly exceeded the recommended value. Plantar vibrotactile perception showed significant increases after WBV exposure with overall greater responses under higher frequencies of vibration. In contrast, no WBV-induced change in balance was observed. CONCLUSIONS WBV at 20 Hz with a magnitude within the recommended limit can be effective in inducing enhancements in peripheral blood flow; however, the same magnitude of vibration seems insufficient in improving balance among older adults.The sediment pollution caused by different metals has attracted a great deal of attention because of the toxicity, persistence, and bio-accumulation. This study focuses on heavy metals in the hyporheic sediment of the Weihe River, China. Contamination levels of metals were examined by using "geo-accumulation index, enrichment factor, and contamination factor" while ecological risk of metals were determined by "potential ecological risk and risk index." The pollutant accumulation of metals ranked as follows "manganese (Mn) > chromium (Cr) > zinc (Zn) >copper (Cu) > nickel (Ni) > arsenic (As) > lead (Pb)". The geo-accumulation index identified arsenic as class 1 (uncontaminated to moderate contamination), whereas Cu, Cr, Ni, Zn, Pb, and Mn were classified as class 0 (uncontaminated). According to the enrichment factor, arsenic originated through anthropogenic activities and Cr, Ni, Cu, Zn, and Pb were mainly controlled by natural sources. The contamination factor elucidated that sediments were moderately polluted by (As, Cr, Cu, Zn, Mn, and Pb), whereas Ni slightly contaminated the sediments of the Weihe River. All metals posed a low ecological risk in the study area. The risk index revealed that contribution of arsenic (53.43 %) was higher than half of the total risk.Aerosol mist particles generated near the surface of a liquid nitrogen container were measured and analyzed. The particles present at various distances from the boiling surface of liquid nitrogen were detected using an optical particle counter. In this experiment, 3 micrometer particles exhibited a more than 100-fold increase in concentration due to the liquid nitrogen surface. However, 0.3 micrometer and 10 micrometer particles showed smaller variations (2% to 79%) in their concentrations in the vicinity of liquid nitrogen. The distance from the boiling surface of the liquid nitrogen strongly affected the variations in particle concentration. The variations in aerosol concentrations were significant within 20 cm of the liquid nitrogen surface. We demonstrate a novel few-moded ultralarge mode area chalcogenide glass photonic crystal fiber for mid-infrared high power applications. The numerical simulation indicates that the fiber has ultralarge mode areas of ∼10500 µm2 and ∼12000 µm2 for the fundamental mode LP01 and the lowest higher-order mode LP11, respectively. Dual-moded operation is confirmed experimentally at 2 µm, in good agreement with the numerical simulation. By selectively launching technique, low bending loss of 0.7 dB/m, equivalent to 0.55 dB/turn, has been observed in the fiber with a small bending radius of ∼12 cm, indicating excellent bending resistance of the few-moded fiber with such a large mode area. The fiber has been demonstrated to sustain an incident power density up to 150 kW/cm2 under 2-µ**** laser irradiation, showing the potential of the fiber for high-power applications in mid-infrared.Fourier-based wavefront sensors, such as the Pyramid Wavefront Sensor (PWFS), are the current preference for high contrast imaging due to their high sensitivity. However, these wavefront sensors have intrinsic nonlinearities that constrain the range where conventional linear reconstruction methods can be used to accurately estimate the incoming wavefront aberrations. We propose to use Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) for the nonlinear reconstruction of the wavefront sensor measurements. It is demonstrated that a CNN can be used to accurately reconstruct the nonlinearities in both simulations and a lab implementation. We show that solely using a CNN for the reconstruction leads to suboptimal closed loop performance under simulated atmospheric turbulence. By applying the OVCO, we perform the OFC-based multi-frequency microwave distribution over a 100 km standard single-mode fiber. The performance of the transmission system can be exhibited by evaluating the repetition rate (10.015 GHz) and second harmonic frequency (20.03 GHz) signals achieved at the remote end. The residual phase noise of the 10.015 GHz and 20.03 GHz signal is -64 dBc/Hz and -58 dBc/Hz at 1 Hz frequency offset from the carrier, respectively. The fractional frequency instability is 1.4×10-16 and 2.4×10-16 at 10000 s averaging time, respectively. And the timing jitter in the frequency range from 0.01 Hz to 1 MHz reaches 88 fs and 87 fs, respectively. Based on the phase-locked loop theory, we conduct a simulation model of the transmission system and the simulated results match well with experiments. This ultrasensitive graphene-based flow sensor accurately detected a flow velocity limit as low as 0.7 mm/s, a pumping frequency range of 0.04 Hz to 2.5 Hz, and a pressure range from 0.6 kPa to 14 kPa. By measuring the blood flow velocities and pressures, pathological blood flow signals were distinguished and captured by the corresponding flow velocities or pressures, which can reflect vascular occlusion and heart functions.
We demonstrate a novel few-moded ultralarge mode area chalcogenide glass photonic crystal fiber for mid-infrared high power applications. The numerical simulation indicates that the fiber has ultralarge mode areas of ∼10500 µm2 and ∼12000 µm2 for the fundamental mode LP01 and the lowest higher-order mode LP11, respectively. Dual-moded operation is confirmed experimentally at 2 µm, in good agreement with the numerical simulation. By selectively launching technique, low bending loss of 0.7 dB/m, equivalent to 0.55 dB/turn, has been observed in the fiber with a small bending radius of ∼12 cm, indicating excellent bending resistance of the few-moded fiber with such a large mode area. The fiber has been demonstrated to sustain an incident power density up to 150 kW/cm2 under 2-µm CW laser irradiation, showing the potential of the fiber for high-power applications in mid-infrared.Fourier-based wavefront sensors, such as the Pyramid Wavefront Sensor (PWFS), are the current preference for high contrast imaging due to their high sensitivity. However, these wavefront sensors have intrinsic nonlinearities that constrain the range where conventional linear reconstruction methods can be used to accurately estimate the incoming wavefront aberrations. We propose to use Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) for the nonlinear reconstruction of the wavefront sensor measurements. It is demonstrated that a CNN can be used to accurately reconstruct the nonlinearities in both simulations and a lab implementation. We show that solely using a CNN for the reconstruction leads to suboptimal closed loop performance under simulated atmospheric turbulence. The lead vacancy reduces NA coupling by localizing hole for decreasing the overlap with electron, slowing electron-hole recombination by a factor of 2. By creating a deep electron trap state due to formation of an iodine dimer in presence of the lead vacancy interacting strongly with water molecules, the electron gets rapidly trapped on 4 ps and then recombines with the valence band free hole within sub-1 ns. The over 3 times acceleration relative to the pristine system is owing to enhanced NA couplings. By eliminating the mid-gap state due to dissociation of the iodine dimer with accepting two photoexcited electrons, the electron-hole recombination reduces by a factor of over 2 compared to the pristine MAPbI 3 , arising due to the reduced overlap between electron and hole. The calculated recombination time scales show excellent agreement with experiment. These phenomena arise due to a complex interplay of the unusual chemical, structural, electrostatic and quantum properties of halide perovskites. The simulations rationalize the positive and negative effects of water on the solar cell performance exposure to humidity. Photoacoustic-based visual servoing is a promising technique for surgical tool tip tracking and automated visualization of photoacoustic targets during interventional procedures. However, one outstanding challenge has been the reliability of obtaining segmentations using low-energy light sources that operate within existing laser safety limits.
We developed the first known graphical processing unit (GPU)-based real-time implementation of short-lag spatial coherence (SLSC) beamforming for photoacoustic imaging and applied this real-time algorithm to improve signal segmentation during photoacoustic-based visual servoing with low-energy lasers.
A 1-mm-core-diameter optical fiber was inserted into ex vivo bovine tissue. Photoacoustic-based visual servoing was implemented as the fiber was manually displaced by a translation stage, which provided ground truth measurements of the fiber displacement. GPU-SLSC results were compared with a central processing unit (CPU)-SLSC approach and an amplitude-based delay-aoing in the operating room with laser pulse repetition frequencies as high as 41.2Hz.
Results are promising for the use of low-energy, miniaturized lasers to perform GPU-SLSC photoacoustic-based visual servoing in the operating room with laser pulse repetition frequencies as high as 41.2 Hz.
Upper airway obstruction may cause pulmonary hypertension in childhood. In this study we aimed to identify a possible correlation of systolic pulmonary arterial pressure (SPAP), using Doppler echocardiography, with nasal patency (NP), as measured by rhinomanometry, in mouth-breathing (MB) children with allergic rhinitis (AR) and adenotonsillar hypertrophy (ATH).
In this cross-sectional study we evaluated 183 patients, from 2 to 12 years of age, at an MB referral clinic in Brazil, from December 2013 to 2017. We allocated patients to 4 etiology groups group 1, 60 MBs with ATH; group 2, 47 MBs with AR; group 3, 43 MBs with both ATH and AR; and group 4, 33 nasal breathing control subjects. The ratio of total nasal inspiratory flow (assessed by active anterior rhinomanometry) and expected inspiratory flow adjusted for height determined the percent NP (%NP).
The median %NP was higher in controls than in the MB groups (controls, 114% [79-147%]; ATH 65% [5-116%]; AR 57% [23-144%]; ATH and AR 64% [3-120%]; p < 0.001). Nasal obstruction is a common complaint in patients with sleep-disordered breathing and obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). Although topical nasal treatments (TNTs) have been shown to reduce nasal resistance and improve nasal obstruction, there is conflicting evidence regarding the role of TNTs in adult OSA. In this systematic review and meta-analysis we aim to evaluate the role of TNTs in adults with OSA. Data sources used included PubMed, Ovid MEDLINE, and Cochrane Central, from January 2001 to July 2019.
Inclusion criteria were English-language studies containing original data on TNTs in adults (≥18 years) with OSA (apnea-hypopnea index [AHI] ≥5). Exclusion criteria were case reports, studies without outcome measures, and concurrent non-TNT treatment for OSA. Two investigators independently reviewed all articles and performed quality assessment using validated tools. Meta-analysis and quality assessment were performed.
Of the 2180 abstracts identified, 8 studies met inclusion criteria. TNTs included decongestants (4 of 8 studies), corticosteroids (3 of 8), and antihistamines (1 of 8).
In Canada, some insurance companies and governments are using a similar program, which is called the Community Actions and Resources Empowering Seniors model. The clinical practice guidelines of the International Conference of Frailty and Sarcopenia Research, as well as some additional references, will be introduced. Here, we review the current literature on how to diagnose and manage frailty in primary care. Photoacoustic-based visual servoing is a promising technique for surgical tool tip tracking and automated visualization of photoacoustic targets during interventional procedures. However, one outstanding challenge has been the reliability of obtaining segmentations using low-energy light sources that operate within existing laser safety limits. We developed the first known graphical processing unit (GPU)-based real-time implementation of short-lag spatial coherence (SLSC) beamforming for photoacoustic imaging and applied this real-time algorithm to improve signal segmentation during photoacoustic-based visual servoing with low-energy lasers. A 1-mm-core-diameter optical fiber was inserted into ex vivo bovine tissue. Photoacoustic-based visual servoing was implemented as the fiber was manually displaced by a translation stage, which provided ground truth measurements of the fiber displacement. GPU-SLSC results were compared with a central processing unit (CPU)-SLSC approach and an amplitude-based delay-aoing in the operating room with laser pulse repetition frequencies as high as 41.2Hz. Results are promising for the use of low-energy, miniaturized lasers to perform GPU-SLSC photoacoustic-based visual servoing in the operating room with laser pulse repetition frequencies as high as 41.2 Hz. Upper airway obstruction may cause pulmonary hypertension in childhood. In this study we aimed to identify a possible correlation of systolic pulmonary arterial pressure (SPAP), using Doppler echocardiography, with nasal patency (NP), as measured by rhinomanometry, in mouth-breathing (MB) children with allergic rhinitis (AR) and adenotonsillar hypertrophy (ATH). In this cross-sectional study we evaluated 183 patients, from 2 to 12 years of age, at an MB referral clinic in Brazil, from December 2013 to 2017. We allocated patients to 4 etiology groups group 1, 60 MBs with ATH; group 2, 47 MBs with AR; group 3, 43 MBs with both ATH and AR; and group 4, 33 nasal breathing control subjects. The ratio of total nasal inspiratory flow (assessed by active anterior rhinomanometry) and expected inspiratory flow adjusted for height determined the percent NP (%NP). The median %NP was higher in controls than in the MB groups (controls, 114% [79-147%]; ATH 65% [5-116%]; AR 57% [23-144%]; ATH and AR 64% [3-120%]; p < 0.001). Healthcare is one of the most complex systems to manage. In recent years, the control of processes and the modelling of public administrations have been considered some of the main areas of interest in management. In particular, one of the most problematic issues is the management of waiting lists and the consequent absenteeism of patients. Patient no-shows imply a loss of time and resources, and in this paper, the strategy of overbooking is analysed as a solution. Here, a real waiting list process is simulated with discrete event simulation (DES) software, and the activities performed by hospital staff are reproduced. The methodology employed combines agile manufacturing and Six Sigma, focusing on a paediatric public hospital pavilion. Different scenarios show that the overbooking strategy is effective in ensuring fairness of access to services. Indeed, all patients respect the times dictated by the waiting list, without "favouritism", which is guaranteed by the logic of replacement. In a comparison between a real sample of bookings and a simulated sample designed to improve no-shows, no statistically significant difference is found. This model will allow health managers to provide patients with faster service and to better manage their resources.Since 2014, highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) H5N6 viruses have circulated in waterfowls and caused human infections in China, posing significant threats to the poultry industry and the public health. However, the genetics, pathogenicity and innate immune response of H5N6 HPAIVs in geese remain largely unknown. In this study, we analyzed the genetic characteristic of the two H5N6 viruses (GS38 and DK09) isolated from apparently healthy domestic goose and duck in live poultry markets (LPMs) of Southern China in 2016. Phylogenetic analysis showed that the HA genes of the two H5N6 viruses belonged to clade 2.3.4.4 and were clustered into the MIX-like group. The MIX-like group viruses have circulated in regions such as China, Japan, Korea, and Vietnam. The NA genes of the two H5N6 viruses were classified into the Eurasian sublineage. The internal genes including PB2, PB1, PA, NP, M, and NS of the two H5N6 viruses derived from the MIX-like. Therefore, our results suggested that the two H5N6 viruses were reato the evolution, pathogenic variations of these viruses and enhance virological surveillance of clade 2.3.4.4 H5N6 HPAIVs in waterfowls in China.Cypermethrin is popularly used as an insecticide in households and agricultural fields, resulting in serious environmental contamination. Rapid and effective techniques that minimize or remove insecticidal residues from the environment are urgently required. However, the currently available cypermethrin-degrading bacterial strains are suboptimal. We aimed to characterize the kinetics and metabolic pathway of highly efficient cypermethrin-degrading Bacillus thuringiensis strain SG4. Strain SG4 effectively degraded cypermethrin under different conditions. The maximum degradation was observed at 32 °C, pH 7.0, and a shaking speed of 110 rpm, and about 80% of the initial dose of cypermethrin (50 mg·L-1) was degraded in minimal salt medium within 15 days. SG4 cells immobilized with sodium alginate provided a higher degradation rate (85.0%) and lower half-life (t1/2) of 5.3 days compared to the 52.9 days of the control. Horseradish peroxidase (HRP) and lignin peroxidase (LiP) were adsorbed onto magnetite nanoparticles and sol-gel encapsulated in a surface silica layer. Encapsulation enhanced the stability of the biocatalysts over time and thermal stability. The biocatalysts showed appreciable selectivity in oxidation of the organic drinking water pollutants diclofenac, carbamazepine, and paracetamol with improved activity being pharmaceutical specific for each enzyme. In particular, sol-gel encapsulated LiP- and HRP-based nanocomposites were active over 20 consecutive cycles for 20 days at 55 °C (24 h/cycle). The stability of the sol-gel encapsulated catalysts in acidic medium was also improved compared to native enzymes. Carbamazepine and diclofenac were degraded to 68% and 64% by sol-gel LiP composites respectively at pH 5 under elevated temperature. Total destruction of carbamazepine and diclofenac was achieved at pH 3 (55 °C) within 3 days, in the case of both immobilized HRP and LiP. Functional enrichment analyses indicated that these common DEGs are linked to a series of cancer events.

However, breastfeeding rates and duration are lower than among term infants. It is reported that peer counselling is effective in increasing breast feeding in term infants in low-income and middle-income countries, but results are mixed in high-income countries. We aim to investigate herein whether peer counselling may be a feasible and effective breastfeeding support among preterm infants in French-speaking high-income countries. METHODS AND ANALYSIS Eight European centres will participate in this stepped-wedge cluster randomised controlled trial. We plan to include 2400 hospitalised neonates born before 35 gestational weeks. Each centre will begin with an observational period. Every 3 months, a randomised cluster (centre) will begin the interventional period with peer counsellors until the end of the study. DESIGN Cross-sectional design utilising online questionnaires to assess self-reported performance and constructs from Social Cognitive Theory (SCT) and Normalisation Process Theory. SETTING Primary care medical practices (n=37) in North East, North Cumbria and South West of England Clinical Research Networks. PARTICIPANTS 96 general practitioners (GPs), 48 nurses and 21 healthcare assistants (HCAs). RESULTS Participants reported little to no informing patients about the links between diabetes and periodontitis or suggesting that they go for a dental check-up. Regarding future intent, both GPs (7.60±3.38) and nurses (7.94±3.69) scored cularly nurses, value these behaviours and consider them appropriate to their role. Methods Patients with MS (n = 37), whose trajectories of disability worsening over the 2 years preceding study entry were calculated, and healthy controls (n = 19) underwent magnetic resonance magnetic and 18F-DPA-714 PET. A threshold of significant activation of 18F-DPA-714 binding was calculated with a voxel-wise randomized permutation-based comparison between patients and controls, and used to classify each WM voxel in patients as characterized by a significant activation of innate immune cells (DPA+) or not. Conclusion The 18F-labeled galactodendritic unit 4 and similar analogs may be clinically relevant and exploitable for PET imaging of galectin-1 overexpressing bladder tumors.

However, breastfeeding rates and duration are lower than among term infants. It is reported that peer counselling is effective in increasing breast feeding in term infants in low-income and middle-income countries, but results are mixed in high-income countries. We aim to investigate herein whether peer counselling may be a feasible and effective breastfeeding support among preterm infants in French-speaking high-income countries. METHODS AND ANALYSIS Eight European centres will participate in this stepped-wedge cluster randomised controlled trial. We plan to include 2400 hospitalised neonates born before 35 gestational weeks. Each centre will begin with an observational period. Every 3 months, a randomised cluster (centre) will begin the interventional period with peer counsellors until the end of the study. Published by BMJ.OBJECTIVES To investigate the practices of healthcare professionals in relation to best practice recommendations for the multidisciplinary management of people with diabetes and periodontitis, focusing on two clinical behaviours informing patients about the links between diabetes and periodontitis, and suggesting patients with poorly controlled diabetes go for a dental check-up. DESIGN Cross-sectional design utilising online questionnaires to assess self-reported performance and constructs from Social Cognitive Theory (SCT) and Normalisation Process Theory. SETTING Primary care medical practices (n=37) in North East, North Cumbria and South West of England Clinical Research Networks. PARTICIPANTS 96 general practitioners (GPs), 48 nurses and 21 healthcare assistants (HCAs). RESULTS Participants reported little to no informing patients about the links between diabetes and periodontitis or suggesting that they go for a dental check-up. Regarding future intent, both GPs (7.60±3.38) and nurses (7.94±3.69) scored cularly nurses, value these behaviours and consider them appropriate to their role. MEMS switch is a movable device manufactured by means of semiconductor technology, possessing many incomparable advantages such as a small volume, low power consumption, high integration, etc. This paper reviews recent research of MEMS switches, pointing out the important performance indexes and systematically summarizing the classification according to driving principles. Then, a comparative study of current MEMS switches stressing their strengths and drawbacks is presented, based on performance requirements such as driven voltage, power consumption, and reliability. The efforts of teams to optimize MEMS switches are introduced and the applications of switches with different driving principles are also briefly reviewed. Furthermore, the development trend of MEMS switch and the research gaps are discussed. Finally, a summary and forecast about MEMS switches is given with the aim of providing a reference for future research in this domain.Potyviruses are the largest group of plant infecting RNA viruses that cause significant losses in a wide range of crops across the globe. The majority of viruses in the genus Potyvirus are transmitted by aphids in a non-persistent, non-circulative manner and have been extensively studied vis-à-vis their structure, taxonomy, evolution, diagnosis, transmission, and molecular interactions with hosts. This comprehensive review exclusively discusses potyviruses and their transmission by aphid vectors, specifically in the light of several virus, aphid and plant factors, and how their interplay influences potyviral binding in aphids, aphid behavior and fitness, host plant biochemistry, virus epidemics, and transmission bottlenecks. We present the heatmap of the global distribution of potyvirus species, variation in the potyviral coat protein gene, and top aphid vectors of potyviruses. Lastly, we examine how the fundamental understanding of these multi-partite interactions through multi-omics approaches is already contributing to, and can have future implications for, devising effective and sustainable management strategies against aphid-transmitted potyviruses to global agriculture.The discovery of metabolomics-based biomarkers has been a focus of recent kidney dysfunction research. In the present study, we aimed to identify metabolites associated with chronic kidney disease (CKD) in the general population using a cross-sectional study design. At baseline, 6.5% of subjects had CKD. Pearson correlation analysis showed that 28 metabolites were significantly associated with estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) after Bonferroni correction. Among these metabolites, 4 acylcarnitines, 12 amino acids, 4 biogenic amines, 1 phosphatidylcholine, and 1 sphingolipid were associated with CKD (p less then 0.05). After eight years, 13.5% of subjects had CKD. Three amino acid metabolites were positively associated with new-onset CKD citrulline [odds ratio (OR) 2.41, 95% confidence interval (CI) 1.26-4.59], kynurenine (OR 1.98, 95% CI 1.05-3.73), and phenylalanine (OR 2.68, 95% CI 1.00-7.16). The kynureninetryptophan ratio was also associated with CKD (OR 3.20; 95% CI 1.57-6.51). The addition of multiple metabolites significantly improved the CKD prediction by C statistics (0.756-0.85, p less then 0.0001), and the net reclassification improvement was 0.84 (95% CI 0.72-0.96). Elevated hs-C reactive protein (CRP) was associated with new-onset CKD (OR 1.045, 95% CI 1.005-1.086); however, this association disappeared following adjustment with the kynureninetryptophan ratio. The levels of citrulline and kynurenine and their ratio to tryptophan in CKD patients with proteinuria were worse than those with one or neither characteristic. Together, the results of this study demonstrate that amino acid metabolites are associated with CKD eight years after initial metabolite assessment. These results could improve the identification of subjects at high risk of CKD who have modified amino acid metabolism.Poor dietary intake during pregnancy remains a significant public health concern, affecting the health of the mother and fetus. This study examines the adequacy of energy, macronutrient, and micronutrient intakes among self-declared lacto-vegetarian and non-vegetarian pregnant women. We analyzed dietary data from 627 pregnant women in Uttar Pradesh, India, using a multiple-pass 24 h diet recall. Compared to non-vegetarians, lacto-vegetarians (~46%) were less likely to report excessive carbohydrate (78% vs. 63%) and inadequate fat intakes (70% vs. 52%). In unadjusted analyses, lacto-vegetarians had a slightly higher mean PA for micronutrients (20% vs. 17%), but these differences were no longer significant after controlling for caste, education, and other demographic characteristics. Under the conditions providing a conventional mononuclear reaction mechanism, 1' catalyzed dimerization with low selectivity, while 2' initiated the formation of oligomers in equal mass ratio. The presence of TIBA and especially Et2AlCl resulted in an increase of the selectivity of dimerization. Quantum chemical simulations of the main and side processes performed at the M-06x/ DGDZVP level of the density functional theory (DFT) allowed to explain experimental results involving traditional mononuclear and novel Zr-Al1 and Zr-Al2 mechanistic concepts.

Providers should be aware of sex-specific CAC patterns carrying increased mortality risk for women, particularly increasing lesion size and number. Given the differences in plaque composition and distribution, revised sex-adjusted CAC scoring is suggested to better risk stratify patients, especially those deemed intermediate risk, and decrease CV mortality.PURPOSE OF REVIEW This review discusses similarities and differences between cardiac positron emission tomography (PET), absolute myocardial blood flow, and flow reserve with invasive fractional flow reserve (FFR). RECENT FINDINGS Fundamentally, cardiac PET measures absolute myocardial blood flow whereas FFR provides a relative flow reserve. Cardiac PET offers a non-invasive and therefore lower risk alternative, able to image the entire left ventricle regardless of coronary anatomy. While cardiac PET can provide unique information about the subendocardium, FFR pullbacks offer unparalleled spatial resolution. Both diagnostic tests provide a highly repeatable and technically successful index of coronary hemodynamics that accounts for the amount of distal myocardial mass, albeit only indirectly with FFR. The randomized evidence base for FFR and its associated cost effectiveness remains unsurpassed. Cardiac PET and FFR have been intertwined since the very development of FFR over 25 years ago. Recent work has emphasized the ability of both techniques to guide revascularization decisions by high-quality physiology. In the past few years, cardiac PET has expanded its evidence base regarding clinical outcomes, whereas FFR has solidified its position in randomized studies as the invasive reference standard.The G1P[8] genotype is one of the most common among rotaviruses circulating in the last 40 years. Therefore, this genotype is a component of rotavirus vaccines licensed throughout the world. This paper presents the results of a 35-year (1984-2019) observation of the circulation of G1P[8] rotaviruses among children under 14 in one region (Nizhny Novgorod, Russia) without vaccine pressure. Several complementary approaches were used RNA electropherotyping by polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis, PCR genotyping, and cDNA sequencing of rotavirus VP4 and VP7 genes. A total of 8375 rotavirus-positive samples were examined, and the proportion of genotype G1P[8] rotaviruses was 39.9% (4.3-98.9%). Two cycles of high circulation activity (1984-1993 and 1993-2007) and one cycle of low activity (2007-2019) were noted. Phylogenetic analysis revealed the presence of rotaviruses of two VP4 gene lineages (P[8]-1 and P[8]-3) and two VP7 gene lineages (sublineages IA, IB, ID, II-B, II-C, and II- E). The prolonged circulation of rotaviruses of only one sublineage (G1-II-E) and then a change of the prevailing sublineage within the G1-II lineage (from E to C) during the active circulation were shown. Since 2011, when the circulation intensity of G1P[8] rotaviruses was low, the appearance of strains of the G1-I lineage and their co-circulation with strains of the G1-II lineage were observed in the population.Since its discovery, the first identified giant virus associated with amoebae, Acanthamoeba polyphaga mimivirus (APMV), has been rigorously studied to understand the structural and genomic complexity of this virus. In this work, we report the isolation and genomic characterization of a new mimivirus of lineage B, named "Borely moumouvirus". This new virus exhibits a structure and replicative cycle similar to those of other members of the family Mimiviridae. The genome of the new isolate is a linear double-strand DNA molecule of ~1.0 Mb, containing over 900 open reading frames. Genome annotation highlighted different translation system components encoded in the DNA of Borely moumouvirus, including aminoacyl-tRNA synthetases, translation factors, and tRNA molecules, in a distribution similar to that in other lineage B mimiviruses. Pan-genome analysis indicated an increase in the genetic arsenal of this group of viruses, showing that the family Mimiviridae is still expanding. Furthermore, phylogenetic analysis has shown that Borely moumouvirus is closely related to moumouvirus australiensis. This is the first mimivirus lineage B isolated from Brazilian territory to be characterized. Here, an indirect anti-PDCoV IgA antibody enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (PDCoV S1 IgA ELISA) using the purified S1 portion of S protein as the coating antigen was developed to detect PDCoV IgA antibodies in serum and sow's milk. A receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis showed high specificity and sensitivity of the PDCoV-S1-IgA-ELISA based on samples confirmed by IFA. Anti-PDCoV IgA antibodies in 152 serum samples and 65 milk samples collected from six farms that had experienced diarrhea outbreaks within previous last two years were detected by this assay, and 62.5% of the serum samples and 100% of the milk samples were positive for PDCoV. Its genome is 158,674 bp in size and contains 5137-bp-long terminal repeats (LTRs). It also contains five tRNA-encoding genes and 251 coding DNA sequences (CDS), of which 65 were annotated. The adsorption constant of Goe7 is 6.1 ± 0.24 × 10-8 ml/min, with a latency period of 75 min and a burst size of 114 particles per burst. A BLASTn sequence comparison against the non-redundant nucleotide database of NCBI revealed that Goe7 is most similar to Bacillus subtilis phage vB_BsuM-Goe3.

RECENT FINDINGS Fundamentally, cardiac PET measures absolute myocardial blood flow whereas FFR provides a relative flow reserve. Cardiac PET offers a non-invasive and therefore lower risk alternative, able to image the entire left ventricle regardless of coronary anatomy. While cardiac PET can provide unique information about the subendocardium, FFR pullbacks offer unparalleled spatial resolution. Both diagnostic tests provide a highly repeatable and technically successful index of coronary hemodynamics that accounts for the amount of distal myocardial mass, albeit only indirectly with FFR. The randomized evidence base for FFR and its associated cost effectiveness remains unsurpassed. Cardiac PET and FFR have been intertwined since the very development of FFR over 25 years ago. Recent work has emphasized the ability of both techniques to guide revascularization decisions by high-quality physiology. In the past few years, cardiac PET has expanded its evidence base regarding clinical outcomes, whereas FFR has solidified its position in randomized studies as the invasive reference standard.The G1P[8] genotype is one of the most common among rotaviruses circulating in the last 40 years. Therefore, this genotype is a component of rotavirus vaccines licensed throughout the world. This paper presents the results of a 35-year (1984-2019) observation of the circulation of G1P[8] rotaviruses among children under 14 in one region (Nizhny Novgorod, Russia) without vaccine pressure. Several complementary approaches were used RNA electropherotyping by polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis, PCR genotyping, and cDNA sequencing of rotavirus VP4 and VP7 genes. A total of 8375 rotavirus-positive samples were examined, and the proportion of genotype G1P[8] rotaviruses was 39.9% (4.3-98.9%). Two cycles of high circulation activity (1984-1993 and 1993-2007) and one cycle of low activity (2007-2019) were noted. Phylogenetic analysis revealed the presence of rotaviruses of two VP4 gene lineages (P[8]-1 and P[8]-3) and two VP7 gene lineages (sublineages IA, IB, ID, II-B, II-C, and II- E). The prolonged circulation of rotaviruses of only one sublineage (G1-II-E) and then a change of the prevailing sublineage within the G1-II lineage (from E to C) during the active circulation were shown. Since 2011, when the circulation intensity of G1P[8] rotaviruses was low, the appearance of strains of the G1-I lineage and their co-circulation with strains of the G1-II lineage were observed in the population.Since its discovery, the first identified giant virus associated with amoebae, Acanthamoeba polyphaga mimivirus (APMV), has been rigorously studied to understand the structural and genomic complexity of this virus. In this work, we report the isolation and genomic characterization of a new mimivirus of lineage B, named "Borely moumouvirus". This new virus exhibits a structure and replicative cycle similar to those of other members of the family Mimiviridae. The genome of the new isolate is a linear double-strand DNA molecule of ~1.0 Mb, containing over 900 open reading frames. Genome annotation highlighted different translation system components encoded in the DNA of Borely moumouvirus, including aminoacyl-tRNA synthetases, translation factors, and tRNA molecules, in a distribution similar to that in other lineage B mimiviruses. Pan-genome analysis indicated an increase in the genetic arsenal of this group of viruses, showing that the family Mimiviridae is still expanding. Furthermore, phylogenetic analysis has shown that Borely moumouvirus is closely related to moumouvirus australiensis. This is the first mimivirus lineage B isolated from Brazilian territory to be characterized. The presence of serum and milk IgA antibodies against pathogens that replicate primarily on mucosal surfaces is important for mucosal immunity. Here, an indirect anti-PDCoV IgA antibody enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (PDCoV S1 IgA ELISA) using the purified S1 portion of S protein as the coating antigen was developed to detect PDCoV IgA antibodies in serum and sow's milk. A receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis showed high specificity and sensitivity of the PDCoV-S1-IgA-ELISA based on samples confirmed by IFA. Anti-PDCoV IgA antibodies in 152 serum samples and 65 milk samples collected from six farms that had experienced diarrhea outbreaks within previous last two years were detected by this assay, and 62.5% of the serum samples and 100% of the milk samples were positive for PDCoV. The indirect ELISA method established in this study will provide a convenient tool for measurement of serum and milk IgA levels against PDCoV in pig herds, rapid detection of PDCoV infection in pigs, and evaluation of the immunogenicity of vaccines.Bacillus velezensis FZB42 is a Gram-positive, endospore-forming rhizobacterium that is associated with plant roots and promotes plant growth. It was used as host to isolate phage vB_BveM-Goe7 (Goe7). Goe7 exhibits a Myoviridae morphology with a contractile tail and an icosahedral head. Its genome is 158,674 bp in size and contains 5137-bp-long terminal repeats (LTRs). It also contains five tRNA-encoding genes and 251 coding DNA sequences (CDS), of which 65 were annotated. The adsorption constant of Goe7 is 6.1 ± 0.24 × 10-8 ml/min, with a latency period of 75 min and a burst size of 114 particles per burst.
