As a result, Fusobacterium nucleatum, the most common oral bacterial strain belonging to the order Fusobacteriales, was selected for further research. From a scanning electron microscopy (SEM) scan, the tooth surface with Fusobacterium nucleatum and Streptococcus mutans culture was more intact than that without Fusobacterium nucleatum. Furthermore, the calcium contents in groups with Fusobacterium nucleatum were significantly higher than that without it. In further mechanistic research, Fusobacterium nucleatum was demonstrated to adhere to and disturb other organisms as well as producing alkaline secretions to neutralize the deleterious acidic environment, protecting the tooth structure. In conclusion, microorganisms and NCCLs were confirmed directly related through adherent bacterial interactions and pH regulation. The research provides a new perspective and experimental evidence for the relation between microorganisms and NCCLs, which guides clinical treatment and preventive dentistry in the future.
The aim of this study was to report the possible association between minor trauma to the eyes and the subsequent occurrence of optic neuritis in patients with serum anti-aquaporin-4 (AQP4) antibody-positive neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD).
Herein, we present three patients who developed acute optic neuritis with visual disturbances after accidental minor trauma to their eyes, without any fundus abnormality or orbital floor fractures present.
Two of the three patients had a preceding history of neurological disturbances compatible with NMOSD (e.g., myelitis, area postrema syndrome) before the occurrence of trauma. One patient was rapidly treated with steroid pulse therapy and plasmapheresis, and he fully recovered visual acuity. The other two, who were left untreated in the acute phase, had sequelae of severe visual disturbances in the affected eyes.
These cases suggest possible association between minor trauma to the eyes and the subsequent occurrence of optic neuritis in patients with serum anti-AQP4 antibodies. Avoiding ocular trauma and early administration of steroid pulse therapy in response to optic neuritis after trauma are desired in such cases.

Results from three studies provided support for our hypotheses. First, when women held strong moral conviction, they expressed higher identification with their disadvantaged ingroup and, in turn, higher collective action intentions, independent of system-justifying beliefs. Second, when women held weak moral conviction, higher system-justifying beliefs reduced women's ingroup identification and, in turn, undermined their collective action intentions. Long-term outcomes for pediatric patients treated for spinal ependymoma are unknown.
We performed a retrospective analysis of outcome data from 33 children and young adults (0-22 years) who were operated on for a spinal ependymoma at our institution during the last 8 decades (1938-2019).
Nineteen patients are alive, with follow-up period up to 60 years. Twelve of them are tumor-free, and 7 are alive with disease. Fourteen patients are dead, 9 of them due to recurrent and/or progressive disease 1-56 years (median 11 years) after the initial surgery. Four of the deceased patients were treated before 1948, 3 of them with excellent long-term survival for 62-66 years after the initial surgery. Tumor recurrence was observed in half of the patients, both local at the site of the primary tumor resection as well as widespread intraspinal presentations. Recurrences were observed within months but also occurred after up to 20 years after initial treatment. After the implementation of magnetic resonance imaging in 1987, details of recurrent disease became more easily demonstrated. Repeated resections were performed when the symptomatic spinal disease was in progress (n= 11). Furthermore, 2 patients have intracranial tumor manifestations, 1 of them underwent resection of a suprasellar tumor in 1991. Four deceased patients experienced aggressive extraspinal progressive disease requiring multiple surgeries, including pulmonary metastasis in 1 of them.

Degenerative lumber spondylolisthesis (DLS) is a common orthopedic condition, described as a condition that compared with the lower vertebra, the superior vertebra slides forward or backward in the sagittal plane without accompanying isthmic spondylolisthesis. Information pertaining to different types of double-level DLS is scarce. This study aims to analyze parameters of patients with different types of double-level DLS to provide a reference for guiding surgical treatment and restoring sagittal balance of patients with DLS.
From January 2014 to January 2020, records of patients with double-level DLS were retrospectively reviewed. Patients with double-level DLS were divided into 3 types anterior, posterior, and combined; the anterior and combined types were studied. The sagittal spinopelvic parameters included C7 tilt, maximal thoracic kyphosis, maximal lumbar lordosis (LLmax), pelvic incidence (PI), pelvic tilt (PT), and sacral slope (SS). After descriptive analysis, demographic and radiographic data wents with double-level DLS, the sagittal spinopelvic parameters differed between the anterior and combined types. Overall, spinal surgeons should focus on correcting sagittal deformities, relieving postoperative clinical symptoms, and improving quality of life during fusion surgery.

Venous thromboembolism (VTE) is a significant contributor to postoperative morbidity and mortality. Prophylactic regimens for VTE involve mechanical prophylaxis and pharmacoprophylaxis. This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to determine the efficacy and safety of pharmacoprophylaxis in comparison with any nonpharmacoprophylaxis regimen for the prevention of postoperative VTE in patients undergoing spinal surgery.

To investigate the impact of race on 30-day postoperative complication rates of elective posterior spinal fusions (PSF) for adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS).
Patients who underwent PSF between 2012 and 2018 were reviewed from the American College of Surgeons National Surgical Quality Improvement Program pediatric database. Propensity score matching was utilized to evaluate whether patient race (i.e., black vs. white) was correlated with postoperative complications.
A total of 4051 PSF for AIS cases met criteria for inclusion. Of these, 3221 (79.5%) patients were white and 830 (20.5%) were black. Several baseline characteristics significantly differed between cohorts. Patients in the black cohort had a significantly higher body mass index, a greater proportion of female patients, higher ASA scores, preoperative diagnosis of asthma or cardiac risk factors, and prior use of steroids. The total number of vertebral segments fused was also greater in the black cohort. After controlling for differences in baseline characteristics with propensity score matching analysis, the only significant difference in morbidity and mortality identified was a higher incidence of venous thromboembolism among the black cohort (2.

We previously reported and validated a risk prediction tool based on COVID-19 hospitalizations prior to June 2020. Here, we report performance of that model on subsequent data from 6 hospitals and among individual patient subgroups.
We included individuals age 18 or older hospitalized at one of 2 academic medical centers and 4 community hospitals from 6/7/2020 through 1/22/2021 with positive PCR test for severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) within 5 days of admission. Coefficients from our previously reported least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (Lasso) risk models were applied to estimate probability of a mortality, as well as a composite severe illness outcome, including admission to the ICU, mechanical ventilation or mortality.
Overall model performance for mortality included AUC of 0.83 (95% CI0.80-0.87) for mortality, with a PPV 0.55 and NPV of 0.95 when using a cutoff corresponding to the highest 20% of predicted risk derived in the training set. For all adverse outcomes, AUC was 0.79 (95% CI0.75-0.81) and PPV 0.48 and NPV 0.98 in the top 20% risk group. Model discrimination was generally similar between genders and race/ethnicity groups, but markedly poorer for younger age groups.

Young, obese individuals displayed responses skewed towards linear peptides versus conformational antigens, suggesting aberrant obese immune response. Overall, these data have vital implications for the next generation of influenza vaccines, and towards the current SARS-CoV-2 vaccination campaign.

We measured SARS-CoV-2-specific T cell responses, soluble markers of inflammation, and antibody levels and neutralization capacity longitudinally up to 9 months following infection in a diverse group of 70 individuals with PCR-confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection. The participants had varying degrees of initial disease severity and were enrolled in the northern California Long-term Impact of Infection with Novel Coronavirus (LIINC) cohort. Adaptive T cell responses remained remarkably stable in all participants across disease severity during the entire study interval. The differentiation of human blood monocytes (MO), the post-mitotic precursors of macrophages (MAC) and dendritic cells (moDC), is accompanied by the active turnover of DNA methylation, but the extent, consequences and mechanisms of DNA methylation changes remain unclear. Here, we profile and compare epigenetic landscapes during IL-4/GM-CSF-driven MO differentiation across the genome and detect several thousand regions that are actively demethylated during culture, both with or without accompanying changes in chromatin accessibility or transcription factor (TF) binding. We further identify TF that are globally associated with DNA demethylation processes. While interferon regulatory factor 4 (IRF4) is found to control hallmark dendritic cell functions with less impact on DNA methylation, early growth response 2 (EGR2) proves essential for MO differentiation as well as DNA methylation turnover at its binding sites. We also show that ERG2 interacts with the 5mC hydroxylase TET2, and its consensus binding sequences show a characteristic DNA methylation footprint at demethylated sites with or without detectable protein binding. Our findings reveal an essential role for EGR2 as epigenetic pioneer in human MO and suggest that active DNA demethylation can be initiated by the TET2-recruiting TF both at stable and transient binding sites.A counterargument to the importance of climate change for malaria transmission has been that regions where an effect of warmer temperatures is expected, have experienced a marked decrease in seasonal epidemic size since the turn of the new century. With statistical analyses and a process-based transmission model, we show that this decline was driven by the transient slowdown in global warming and associated changes in climate variability, especially ENSO. This study aims to investigate the expression and role of Piezo1 in MC3T3-E1 cells after LIPUS treatment. Immunofluorescence analysis shows that Piezo1 was present on MC3T3-E1 cells and could be ablated by shRNA transfection. MC3T3-E1 cell migration and proliferation were significantly increased by LIPUS stimulation, and knockdown of Piezo1 restricted the increase in cell migration and proliferation. After labeling with Fluo-8, MC3T3-E1 cells exhibited fluorescence intensity traces with several high peaks compared with the baseline during LIPUS stimulation. No obvious change in the fluorescence intensity tendency was observed after LIPUS stimulation in shRNA-Piezo1 cells, which was similar to the results in the GsMTx4-treated group. The phosphorylation ratio of ERK1/2 in MC3T3-E1 cells was significantly increased (P less then 0.01) after LIPUS stimulation. Major life changes may cause an autobiographical rupture and a need to work on one's narrative identity. This article introduces a new qualitative interview methodology originally developed to facilitate 10 prostate cancer patients and five spouses in the (re)creation of their life narratives in the context of a series of interventive interviews conducted over a timespan of several months. In "The Clip Approach" the interviewees' words, phrases, and metaphors are reflected **** in a physical form ("the Clips") as visual artifacts that allow the interviewees to re-enter and re-consider their experience and life and re-construct their narratives concerning them. Honoring the interviewees as authors facilitates autobiographical reasoning, building a bridge between the past and the future, and embedding the illness experience as part of one's life narrative. The Clip Approach provides new tools for both research and practice-potentially even a low-threshold psychosocial support method for various applicability areas.Provision of high-quality HIV care is challenging, especially in rural primary care clinics in high HIV burden settings. We aimed to better understand the main challenges to quality HIV care provision and retention in antiretroviral treatment (ART) programs in rural South Africa from the health care providers' perspective. We conducted semi-structured qualitative interviews with 23 providers from nine rural clinics. Using thematic and framework analysis, we found that providers and patients face a set of complex and intertwined barriers at the structural, programmatic, and individual levels. More specifically, analyses revealed that their challenges are primarily structural (i.e., health system- and microeconomic context-specific) and programmatic (i.e., clinic- and provider-specific) in nature. We highlight the linkages that providers draw between the challenges they face, the motivation to do their job, the quality of the care they provide, and patients' dissatisfaction with the care they receive, all potentially resulting in poor retention in care.Emotional distress, communication, and dyadic coping difficulties are common among cancer patients and their partners. Hypnosis-based interventions can improve emotional distress in patients. We designed a group intervention combining self-hypnosis and self-care techniques. We hypothesized an effect of the intervention on emotional distress, conjugal communication, and dyadic coping, considered in patients and their partners. Our exploratory controlled study included 55 women with cancer and 55 partners. Participants completed questionnaires before and after the intervention, which was delivered to patients only. No significant effect of the intervention was revealed for patients or partners. Positive correlations between patients' and partners' communication and dyadic coping were revealed. However, to address couples' or partners' difficulties, interventions specifically designed for couples or partners must be tested.This article reviews key epidemiological and clinical features of African ***** fever (ASF). We identify particular aspects of New Zealand's pig populations (commercial, non-commercial, and wild) that may affect the risk of disease entry or spread. Review of published literature is supplemented by analysis of demographic and spatial aspects of the New Zealand commercial, non-commercial, and feral pig populations to provide context around risk factors for the disease that are most relevant to New Zealand. The current Eurasian outbreak of ASF, including recent spread into Oceania, has increased the risk of an incursion of the disease into New Zealand. Large volumes of fresh pork importation (including from countries affected by ASF), large non-commercial pig populations with substantial spatial overlap with the country's commercial industry, limited monitoring of compliance with waste food feeding regulations, and lack of mandatory premises identification for non-commercial pig holdings would likely contribute to the risk of spread of ASF in the event of an incursion. Major life changes may cause an autobiographical rupture and a need to work on one's narrative identity. This article introduces a new qualitative interview methodology originally developed to facilitate 10 prostate cancer patients and five spouses in the (re)creation of their life narratives in the context of a series of interventive interviews conducted over a timespan of several months. In "The Clip Approach" the interviewees' words, phrases, and metaphors are reflected back in a physical form ("the Clips") as visual artifacts that allow the interviewees to re-enter and re-consider their experience and life and re-construct their narratives concerning them. Honoring the interviewees as authors facilitates autobiographical reasoning, building a bridge between the past and the future, and embedding the illness experience as part of one's life narrative. The Clip Approach provides new tools for both research and practice-potentially even a low-threshold psychosocial support method for various applicability areas.Provision of high-quality HIV care is challenging, especially in rural primary care clinics in high HIV burden settings. We aimed to better understand the main challenges to quality HIV care provision and retention in antiretroviral treatment (ART) programs in rural South Africa from the health care providers' perspective. We conducted semi-structured qualitative interviews with 23 providers from nine rural clinics. Using thematic and framework analysis, we found that providers and patients face a set of complex and intertwined barriers at the structural, programmatic, and individual levels. More specifically, analyses revealed that their challenges are primarily structural (i.e., health system- and microeconomic context-specific) and programmatic (i.e., clinic- and provider-specific) in nature. We highlight the linkages that providers draw between the challenges they face, the motivation to do their job, the quality of the care they provide, and patients' dissatisfaction with the care they receive, all potentially resulting in poor retention in care.Emotional distress, communication, and dyadic coping difficulties are common among cancer patients and their partners. Hypnosis-based interventions can improve emotional distress in patients. We designed a group intervention combining self-hypnosis and self-care techniques. We hypothesized an effect of the intervention on emotional distress, conjugal communication, and dyadic coping, considered in patients and their partners. Our exploratory controlled study included 55 women with cancer and 55 partners. Participants completed questionnaires before and after the intervention, which was delivered to patients only. Review of published literature is supplemented by analysis of demographic and spatial aspects of the New Zealand commercial, non-commercial, and feral pig populations to provide context around risk factors for the disease that are most relevant to New Zealand. The current Eurasian outbreak of ASF, including recent spread into Oceania, has increased the risk of an incursion of the disease into New Zealand. Large volumes of fresh pork importation (including from countries affected by ASF), large non-commercial pig populations with substantial spatial overlap with the country's commercial industry, limited monitoring of compliance with waste food feeding regulations, and lack of mandatory premises identification for non-commercial pig holdings would likely contribute to the risk of spread of ASF in the event of an incursion. Activation of the insulin-like growth factor 1 receptor (IGF-1R)-mediated Janus kinase (JAK)1/2-Stat3 pathway contributes to hepatocarcinogenesis. Specifically, a previous study showed that IGF-1R inhibition downregulated Midkine expression in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).
The present study investigated the role of IGF-1R-JAK1/2-Stat3 and Midkine signaling in HCC, in addition to the molecular link between the IGF-1R-Stat3 pathway and Midkine.
The expression levels of IGF-1R, Stat3, and Midkine were measured using reverse transcription-quantitative PCR, following which the association of IGF-1R with Stat3 and Midkine expression was evaluated in HCC. The molecular link between the IGF-1R-Stat3 pathway and Midkine was then investigated in vitro before the effect of IGF-1R-Stat3 and Midkine signaling on HCC growth and invasion was studied in vitroand in vivo.
IGF-1R, Stat3, and Midkine mRNA overexpressions were all found in HCC, where the levels of Stat3 and Midkine mRNA correlated positively with those of IGF-1R. In addition, Midkine mRNA level also correlated positively with Stat3 mRNA expression in HCC tissues. IGF-1R promoted Stat3 activation, which in turn led to the upregulation of Midkine expression in Huh7 cells. Similarly, Midkine also promoted Stat3 activation through potentiating JAK1/2 phosphorylation. Persistent activation of this Stat3-Midkine-Stat3 positive feedback signal loop promoted HCC growth and invasion, the inhibition of which resulted in significant antitumor activities both in vitroand in vivo.

Clinical studies on COVID-19 headache are limited. This prospective study aimed to define headache characteristics, associated clinical and laboratory factors, and treatment response in COVID-19.
Cross-sectional study enrolled 287 patients diagnosed with COVID-19 and hospitalized on a regular ward during the pandemic. All patients were examined face to face and followed by a neurologist during their stay in the hospital. The characteristics, concomitant symptoms, treatment responses, and laboratory findings of COVID-19-associated headaches were recorded.
Eighty-three COVID-19 patients reported headache (28.9%), in which 85.5% had no prior headaches. Mean age was 48.40 ± 15.90 and 58% was men. Compared to COVID-19 patients without headache (n = 204), patients with headache showed significantly higher frequency of pulmonary involvement (76%) and increased D-dimer levels. Fifty-nine percent of headaches responded iv paracetamol 1000mg, and 85% of the paracetamol unresponsive headaches were relieved by greand IL-6 > 43pg/mL levels can be diagnostic for COVID-19 headache. Although many environmental factors play an important role in bone mass density (BMD) variation, genetic influences account for 60-85% of individual variance. The aim of this study was to find the interaction between some dietary ingredients, vitamin D, estrogen, and obesity polymorphic receptor genes, among a sample of obese Egyptian women. This was a cross sectional study included 97 women (aged 25-60 years). Data on anthropometry, dietary intake, BMD, biochemical, and genetic analyses were collected.
Osteoporosis was high among women had dominant Taq1 vitamin D receptor gene while osteoporosis was less common among the homozygous Apa1 receptor gene women. Both genes in their two forms did not show any effect on serum vitamin D. Heterozygous types of osteoporotic women carried both genes revealed a slight but significant decrease in level of serum calcium. Xba1 estrogen receptor gene was identified only in a homozygous type while the heterozygous Pvu11 estrogen receptors gene has been identified among both osteoporotic and non-osteoporotic women, this gene was associated with higher BMI in both groups compared to the homozygous receptor gene.

In this study, we produced de novo chromosome-level genome assemblies for A. coluzzii and A. arabiensis using the long-read Oxford Nanopore sequencing technology and the Hi-C scaffolding approach. We obtained 273.4 and 256.8 Mb of the total assemblies for A. coluzzii and A. arabiensis, respectively. Each assembly consists of 3 chromosome-scale scaffolds (X, 2, 3), complete mitochondrion, and unordered contigs identified as autosomal pericentromeric DNA, X pericentromeric DNA, and Y sequences. Comparison of these assemblies with the existing assemblies for these species demonstrated that we obtained improved reference-quality genomes. The new assemblies allowed us to identify genomic coordinates for the breakpoint regions of fixed and polymorphic chromosomal inversions in A. coluzzii and A. arabiensis.
The new chromosome-level assemblies will facilitate functional and population genomic studies in A. coluzzii and A. arabiensis. The presented assembly pipeline will accelerate progress toward creating high-quality genome references for other disease vectors.

During esca, a grapevine (Vitis vinifera) disease, symptomatic leaves are prone to irreversible hydraulic dysfunctions but little is known about the hydraulic integrity of perennial organs over the short- and long-term. We investigated the effects of esca on stem hydraulic integrity in naturally infected plants within a single season and across season(s). We coupled direct (ks) and indirect (kth) hydraulic conductivity measurements, and tylose and vascular pathogen detection with in vivo X-ray microtomography visualizations. Xylem occlusions (tyloses) and subsequent loss of stem hydraulic conductivity (ks) occurred in all shoots with severe symptoms (apoplexy) and in more than 60% of shoots with moderate symptoms (tiger-stripe), with no tyloses in asymptomatic shoots. In vivo stem observations demonstrated that tyloses occurred only when leaf symptoms appeared, and resulted in more than 50% loss of hydraulic conductance in 40% of symptomatic stems, unrelated to symptom age. The impact of esca on xylem integrity was only seasonal, with no long-term impact of disease history. In order to identify K12 practitioners who were well-versed in systems thinking, we targeted students within an instructional design and technology graduate program that included a course on human performance improvement (HPI). At the conclusion of the semester, all students in the course were invited to participate in an individual, semi-structured interview where they discussed the relationship among these three concepts within their professional practice. During esca, a grapevine (Vitis vinifera) disease, symptomatic leaves are prone to irreversible hydraulic dysfunctions but little is known about the hydraulic integrity of perennial organs over the short- and long-term. We investigated the effects of esca on stem hydraulic integrity in naturally infected plants within a single season and across season(s). We coupled direct (ks) and indirect (kth) hydraulic conductivity measurements, and tylose and vascular pathogen detection with in vivo X-ray microtomography visualizations. Xylem occlusions (tyloses) and subsequent loss of stem hydraulic conductivity (ks) occurred in all shoots with severe symptoms (apoplexy) and in more than 60% of shoots with moderate symptoms (tiger-stripe), with no tyloses in asymptomatic shoots. In vivo stem observations demonstrated that tyloses occurred only when leaf symptoms appeared, and resulted in more than 50% loss of hydraulic conductance in 40% of symptomatic stems, unrelated to symptom age. The impact of esca on xylem integrity was only seasonal, with no long-term impact of disease history. In order to identify K12 practitioners who were well-versed in systems thinking, we targeted students within an instructional design and technology graduate program that included a course on human performance improvement (HPI). At the conclusion of the semester, all students in the course were invited to participate in an individual, semi-structured interview where they discussed the relationship among these three concepts within their professional practice. Urgent surgical intervention was carried out, during which the bicuspid aortic valve was resected and replaced with an On-X bileaflet mechanical valve. The patient remains asymptomatic and is treated with warfarin, being in excellent physical condition 4 years after aortic valve replacement.

Among orbital lymphoproliferative disorders, about 55% of diagnosed cancerous tumors are orbital lymphomas, and nearly 50% of benign cases are immunoglobulin G4-related ophthalmic disease (IgG4-ROD). However, due to nonspecific characteristics, the differentiation of the two diseases is challenging. In this study, conventional magnetic resonance imaging-based radiomics approaches were explored for clinical recognition of orbital lymphomas and IgG4-ROD. We investigated the value of radiomics features of axial T1- (T1WI-) and T2-weighted (T2WI), contrast-enhanced T1WI in axial (CE-T1WI) and coronal (CE-T1WI-cor) planes, and 78 patients (orbital lymphoma, 36; IgG4-ROD, 42) were retrospectively reviewed. The mass lesions were manually annotated and represented with 99 features. The performance of elastic net-based radiomics models using single or multiple modalities with or without feature selection was compared. The demographic features showed orbital lymphoma patients were significantly older than IgG4-ROD patients (p less then 0.01), and most of the patients were male (72% in the orbital lymphoma group vs. 23% in the IgG4-ROD group; p = 0.03). The MR imaging findings revealed orbital lymphomas were mostly unilateral (81%, p = 0.02) and wrapped eyeballs or optic nerves frequently (78%, p = 0.02). Here, we present a 24-month-old Chinese boy with developmental delay and other common clinical characteristics of PPP2R5D-related neurodevelopmental disorder including hypotonia, macrocephaly, intellectual disability, speech impairment, and behavioral abnormality. Trio-whole exome sequencing (WES) and Sanger sequencing were performed to identify the causal gene variant. The pathogenicity of the variant was evaluated using bioinformatics tools. We identified a novel pathogenic variant in the PPP2R5D gene (c.620G>T, p.Trp207Leu). The variant is located in the variant hotspot region of this gene and is predicted to cause PPP2R5D protein dysfunction due to an increase in local hydrophobicity and unstable three-dimensional structure. We report a novel pathogenic variant of PPP2R5D associated with PPP2R5D-related neurodevelopmental disorder from a Chinese family. Our findings expanded the phenotypic and mutational spectrum of PPP2R5D-related neurodevelopmental disorder.

The mortality rate was higher among intravenous drug users (Adjusted Hazard Ratio (AHR) 1.27, 95% Confidence Interval (CI) 1.14-1.43), prefecture as a level of ART site (AHR 1.14, 95% CI 1.02-1.28), and county as the level of ART site (AHR 2.12, 95% CI 1.90-2.37). Attrition was higher among intravenous drug users (AHR 1.87, 95% CI 1.75-2.00), the first-line ART containing AZT (AHR 1.09, 95% CI 1.03-1.16), and first-line ART containing LVP/r (AHR 1.34, 95% CI 1.23-1.46).

Accordingly, we performed an analysis to accurately assess the relationship between serum IL-37 cytokine levels and disease activity of RA. Subgroup analysis and sensitivity analysis were applied to explore the sources of heterogeneity. Correlation coefficient (r) was utilized to evaluate the relationship between IL-37 and disease activity of RA patients. Ten studies were included into the research. Functional analysis revealed elevated serum IL-37 concentrations in RA patients (SMD = 1.61, P less then 0.00001). The relationship between serum IL-37 levels and disease activity was statistically significant (C-reactive protein r = 1.47, P = 0.0002; erythrocyte sedimentation rate r = 1.55, P less then 0.00001; rheumatoid factor r = 1.40, P = 0.004; tumor necrosis factor⁃α r = 1.64, P = 0.0003; Disease Activity Score for 28 joints r = 1.63, P less then 0.00001; tender joint count r = 1.48, P less then 0.00001; and swollen joint count r = 1.52, P = 0.0003), but anti-CCP was not significant (anti-CCP r = 0.98, P = 0.72). In summary, these data are suggesting that the elevated serum level of IL-37 in RA is positively correlated with the disease activity of RA, suggesting a role for IL-37in the pathogenesis of RA.

Here, we present a 24-month-old Chinese boy with developmental delay and other common clinical characteristics of PPP2R5D-related neurodevelopmental disorder including hypotonia, macrocephaly, intellectual disability, speech impairment, and behavioral abnormality. Trio-whole exome sequencing (WES) and Sanger sequencing were performed to identify the causal gene variant. The pathogenicity of the variant was evaluated using bioinformatics tools. Accordingly, we performed an analysis to accurately assess the relationship between serum IL-37 cytokine levels and disease activity of RA. Subgroup analysis and sensitivity analysis were applied to explore the sources of heterogeneity. Correlation coefficient (r) was utilized to evaluate the relationship between IL-37 and disease activity of RA patients. Ten studies were included into the research.
