We have altered the palmitoylation state by preincubating cells with micromolar concentrations of palmitic acid or by inhibiting protein thioesterases. With acyl-biotin exchange assays we found that Kir6.2, but not sulfonylurea receptor (SUR)1 or SUR2, was palmitoylated. These interventions increased the KATP channel mean patch current, increased the open time, and decreased the apparent sensitivity to ATP without affecting surface expression. To address this issue, we performed an unbiased pan-cancer analysis to identify genetic alterations that lead to the same aberrant splicing as observed with SF3B1 mutations. This analysis identified multiple mutations in another spliceosomal gene, SUGP1, that correlated with significant usage of cryptic 3'ss known to be utilized in mutant SF3B1 expressing cells. Remarkably, this is consistent with recent biochemical studies that identified a defective interaction between mutant SF3B1 and SUGP1 as the molecular defect responsible for cryptic 3'ss usage. Experimental validation revealed that five different SUGP1 mutations completely or partially recapitulated the 3'ss defects.

Consequently, women in science and academic medicine must not only learn to navigate career challenges but also obstacles, such as unconscious, implicit, and explicit bias, that impede their success and advancement. While advocating for system-level reforms, women scholars can empower themselves and others through their approach to circumstances, behaviors, decision-making, and communication. Abnormalities in the thyroid hormones, like in hypothyroidism, are closely related to dementia and Alzheimer's disease demonstrating the main symptom of these disorders memory deficit. In this study we evaluated the effect of chrysin on deficit spatial and aversive memories and the contribution of glutamatergic, cholinergic pathways and Na+, K+-ATPase activity on hippocampus and prefrontal cortex in hypothyroid adult female **** C57BL/6. Hypothyroidism was induced by the continuous exposure to 0.1% methimazole (MTZ) in drinking water for 31 days. The exposure to MTZ was associated to low plasma levels of thyroid hormones (TH) compared to the control group on the 32nd. Subsequently, euthyroid and MTZ-induced hypothyroid **** received (intragastrically) either vehicle or chrysin (20 mg/kg) once a day for 28 consecutive days. After treatments **** performed the following behavioral assessments open-field test (OFT), morris water maze (MWM) and passive avoidance test. The resultant Dr-EGFR and Dr-FGFR1 opto-RTKs are rapidly activated with near-infrared and inactivated with far-red light. The opto-RTKs efficiently trigger ERK1/2, PI3K/Akt and PLC-gamma signaling. Absence of spectral crosstalk between the opto-RTKs and GFP-based biosensors enable simultaneous Dr-FGFR1 activation and detection of calcium transients. Action mechanism of the DrBphP-PCM-based opto-RTKs is considered using the available RTK structures. DrBphP-PCM represents a versatile scaffold for engineering of opto-RTKs that are reversibly regulated with far-red and near-infrared light.   • Young maternal age during pregnancy is linked with adverse birth outcomes. This study examined the role of maternal nutritional status in the association between maternal age and small for gestational age (SGA) delivery and birth length. We used data from a birth cohort study in Ethiopia, involving women who were 15-24 years of age and their newborns. A mediation analysis was fitted in a sample of 1,422 mother infant dyads for whom data on birth length were available, and 777 dyads for whom gestational age and birth weight was measured. We used commands, medeff for the mediation analysis and medsens for sensitivity analysis in STATA 14. Maternal nutritional status, measured by mid-upper arm circumference, mediated 21% of the association between maternal age and birth length and 14% of the association with SGA delivery. The average direct effect (ADE) of maternal age on birth length was (β = 0.45, 95% CI [0.17, 0.99]) and the average causal mediated effect (ACME) was (β = 0.12, 95% CI [0.02, 0.15]). We also found an ADE (β = 0.31, 95% CI [0.09, 0.47]) and an ACME of (β = 0.05, 95% CI [0.003, 0.205]) of maternal age on SGA delivery.     Young maternal age during pregnancy is linked with adverse birth outcomes. This study examined the role of maternal nutritional status in the association between maternal age and small for gestational age (SGA) delivery and birth length. We used data from a birth cohort study in Ethiopia, involving women who were 15-24 years of age and their newborns. A mediation analysis was fitted in a sample of 1,422 mother infant dyads for whom data on birth length were available, and 777 dyads for whom gestational age and birth weight was measured. We used commands, medeff for the mediation analysis and medsens for sensitivity analysis in STATA 14. Maternal nutritional status, measured by mid-upper arm circumference, mediated 21% of the association between maternal age and birth length and 14% of the association with SGA delivery. The average direct effect (ADE) of maternal age on birth length was (β = 0.45, 95% CI [0.17, 0.99]) and the average causal mediated effect (ACME) was (β = 0.12, 95% CI [0.02, 0.15]). We also found an ADE (β = 0.31, 95% CI [0.09, 0.47]) and an ACME of (β = 0.05, 95% CI [0.003, 0.205]) of maternal age on SGA delivery.   • Topoisomerases are proven drug targets, but antibiotics that poison bacterial Topoisomerase 1 (Top1) have yet to be discovered. We have developed a rapid and direct assay for quantification of Top1-DNA adducts that is suitable for high throughput assays. Adducts are recovered by "RADAR fractionation", a quick, convenient approach in which cells are lysed in chaotropic salts and detergent and nucleic acids and covalently bound adducts then precipitated with alcohol. Here we show that RADAR fractionation followed by ELISA immunodetection can quantify adducts formed by wild-type and mutant Top1 derivatives encoded by two different bacterial pathogens, Y. pestis and M. tuberculosis, expressed in E. coli or M. https://www.selleckchem.com/products/valproic-acid.html smegmatis, respectively. We found these reporter cell lines could detect factors associated with cancer cachexia, such as myostatin (Mstn), activin A, and TNF-α. We further investigated the capacity to directly detect a cachectic state using plasma samples from cachectic **** and cancer patients. Activation of the reporter cell lines was observed by the addition of plasma from **** with cancer cachexia and serum samples from patients with pancreatic or colorectal cancer.     Several approaches have been proposed to address the challenge of catheter ablation of persistent atrial fibrillation (AF). However, the optimal ablation strategy is unknown. We sought to evaluate the efficacy of pulmonary vein isolation (PVI) plus low-voltage area (LVA) ablation using contemporary high-density mapping to identify LVA in patients with persistent AF.

    Consecutive patients accepted for AF catheter ablation were studied. High-density bipolar voltage mapping data were acquired in sinus rhythm using multipolar catheters to detect LVA (defined as bipolar voltage < 0.5 mV).   • The tested cell image datasets were acquired from high-throughput imaging of over 20,000 drug-treated and untreated cells with an optofluidic time-stretch microscope. Results The framework we built beats other methods with an accuracy of over 97% and a classification frequency of 3000 cells / s. Results Total retinal thickness decreased significantly in the nasal and temporal subfields after surgery (p less then 0.001), whereas the inner nuclear layer and outer nuclear layer showed nasal thickening (all, p less then 0.001). The postoperative temporal/nasal subfield thickness ratio of each layer was significantly lower than that of fellow eyes. Eyes with larger ILM peeling showed a significantly lower temporal/nasal subfield thickness ratio (p = 0.033) than those with smaller sizes.     The tested cell image datasets were acquired from high-throughput imaging of over 20,000 drug-treated and untreated cells with an optofluidic time-stretch microscope. Results The framework we built beats other methods with an accuracy of over 97% and a classification frequency of 3000 cells / s. In addition, we determined the optimal structure of training sets according to model performances under different training set components. Methods A retrospective chart review of non-screened patients newly diagnosed with retinoblastoma between January 2007 and February 2018. Bovine viral diarrhea virus (BVDV) infects different cell types including antigen-presenting cells such as macrophages. The infection induces pro-inflammatory cytokines like interleukin 1 beta (IL-1β), which is necessary to trigger a successful inflammatory response against infections. Several authors have reported differences between IL-1β gene expression and protein detection in BVDV-infected macrophages. These patterns may be related to inflammasome assembly, which promote the formation of active caspase 1 in order to produce mature IL-1β molecules. Our goal was to assess BVDV ability to induce the release of IL-β through a caspase 1 dependent pathway in bovine macrophages. We infected peripheral blood monocyte-derived macrophages using BVDV NADL strain at 0.001, 0.1, 2 and 10 multiplicities of infection (MOI) and we measured IL-1β at different times 2, 6, 12, 24, 48, 72 h. We found an increase of 1140-2154 pg for a MOI of 101 and 21 respectively. To inhibit caspase 1, we used either carbobenzoxy-valyl-alanyl-aspartyl-[O-methyl]- fluoromethylketone (Z-VAD) or carbobenzoxy-tyr-valyl-alanyl-aspartyl-[O-methyl]- fluoromethylketone (Y-VAD). We found decreased IL-1β secretion 2154 pg/ml to 854 pg/ml IL-1β secretion using Y-VAD and we observed decrease from 2154 pg/ml to 22.33 pg/ml with Z-VAD, and this inhibition was followed by diminished viral replication from 2.25 × 107 to 2.1 × 105 CCID50, which suggests that caspase 1-dependent secretion of the IL-1β active molecule is important for viral replication. The study also demonstrated the practicability of NMDAR nanopores, and results were validated using two-electrode voltage-clamp (TEVC) recording. Compared with TEVC recording, the NMDAR nanopores conducted ion channel gating at the single-channel level without being affected by other proteins on the cell membrane. The highly sensitive and accurate NMDAR nanopore technique thus has a unique advantage in screening NMDAR ligand molecules that could be associated with neurodegenerative disease. We hypothesized that pulsed electric fields applied during electrochemotherapy (ECT) or gene electrotransfer (GET) protocols could stimulate proliferation and migration of human cutaneous cells, as described in protocols for electrostimulation of wound healing. We used videomicroscopy to monitor and quantify in real time primary human dermal fibroblast behavior when exposed in vitro to ECT and GET electric parameters, in terms of survival, proliferation and migration in a calibrated scratch wound assay. Distinct electric field intensities were applied to allow gradient in cell electropermeabilization while maintaining reversible permeabilization conditions, in order to mimic in vivo heterogeneous electric field distribution of complex tissues. Neither galvanotaxis nor statistical modification of fibroblast migration were observed in a calibrated scratch wound assay after application of ECT and GET parameters. The only effect on proliferation was observed under the strongest GET conditions, which drastically reduced the number of fibroblasts through induction of mitochondrial stress and apoptosis. Finally, we found that 24 h-conditioned cell culture medium by electrically stressed fibroblasts tended to increase the migration properties of cells that were not exposed to electric field.   • The results of this study provide deep insights into the effects of CeO2 nanocatalyst morphology on the Hg oxidation. Landfill biocovers are an efficient strategy for the mitigation of greenhouse gas emissions from landfills. A complex interplay between key physical and reactive processes occurs in biocovers and affects the transport of gas components. Therefore, numerical models can greatly help the understanding of these systems, their design and optimal operation. In this study, we developed a 3-D multicomponent modeling approach to quantitatively interpret experimental datasets measured in the laboratory and in pilot-scale landfill biocovers. The proposed model is able to reproduce the observed spatial and temporal dynamics of CH4, O2 and CO2 migration in biocovers under different operating conditions and demonstrates the importance of dimensionality in understanding the propagation of gas flow and migration of gas components in such porous media. The model allowed us to capture the coupled transport behavior of gas components, to evaluate the exchange of gas fluxes at the interface between the biocover surface and free air flow, and to investigate the effects of different gas injection patterns on the distribution of gas components within biocovers. The model also helps elucidating the dynamics and competition between methane oxidation and respiration processes observed in the different experimental setups. The simulation outcomes reveal that increasing availability of methane (i.e., higher injection flow rates or higher fractions of CH4 in the injected gas composition) results in progressive dominance of methane oxidation in the biocovers and moderates the impact of respiration. Tire wear particles (TWPs) were one of the source categories of microplastics, and some countries consider it the largest. In the case of Korea, the number of vehicles per a kilometer of road is the highest among 30 OECD countries. Therefore, the concentration of TWPs is considered high. This study aims to estimate TWPs emission factor by using warranty period of tire, driving distance per vehicle per day, weight of tire, and ratio of weight loss of tire, and then, suggests TWPs emission amount by using annual driving distance and emission factor of TWPs of each type of vehicle. As a result, the emission factor of TWPs in Korea appeared as in the following 45-57 mg/vehicle·km (average 51.1 mg/vehicle·km) for passenger cars, 224 mg/vehicle·km for lightweight trucks, 799 mg/vehicle·km for buses, and 949 mg/vehicle·km for heavyweight trucks. The total amount of TWPs to be generated in a year was calculated as 51,795-54,581 tonnes/year (average 53,188 tonnes/year). The amount of TWPs appeared in the order of heavyweight trucks, buses, passenger cars, and lightweight trucks; the contribution of tires of each type of vehicles, to the emitted amount of TWPs, appeared with insignificant differences. This study evaluated the physicochemical and morphological properties of pectin and chitosan particles combined with sugarcane vinasse for soil fertilization applications. Particles were obtained by adding the biopolymeric solutions (pectin or chitosan solution) dropwise into the crosslinking solutions (calcium chloride 1% in ethanolic solution or tripolyphosphate 5% aqueous solution) followed by drying. Vinasse enhanced pectin gel stability improving pectin/vinasse particle properties. Physicochemical characterization indicated that vinasse nutrients were properly incorporated in both pectin and chitosan matrices. Particles showed spherical shape, with an average diameter of 3 and 2 mm for the pectin and chitosan particles with vinasse, respectively. Chitosan particles, compared to pectin, showed lower swelling capacity and solubility and higher mechanical resistance indicating a denser and more compact polymer network. Both particles were able to hinder water evaporation rates from sandy soil under water stress conditions. Biobased particles with vinasse added show potential to be applied as soil fertilizer representing an alternative to use and disposal of this expressive wastewater from sugar and alcohol industries. There is a growing need to recycle construction and demolition waste (CDW) in order to treat the huge amount of CDW in many metropolises of China. However, the CDW recycling industry is still in its initial stage and developed unevenly across various areas of China. In spite of some qualitative discussions, the quantitative analysis of crucial policies to the development of CDW recycling industry was overlooked. Through literature review, nine influential policy instruments were identified in term of three categories, i.e. control and command policy, market-based policy and information-based policy. The stepwise regression analysis was employed to explore the relationships between the influential policies and the development level of CDW recycling industry in 52 sample Chinese cities. The results demonstrated that Green Product Label, Charge and Tax and Technical Standards had statistically significant association with the development of CDW recycling industry in sample cities. In the surveyed cities, Charge or Tax was the most common policy tool (84.6%), but Green Product Label (7.7%) and Technological standards (11.5%) were rather less frequently employed. Landfill biocovers are an efficient strategy for the mitigation of greenhouse gas emissions from landfills. A complex interplay between key physical and reactive processes occurs in biocovers and affects the transport of gas components. Therefore, numerical models can greatly help the understanding of these systems, their design and optimal operation. In this study, we developed a 3-D multicomponent modeling approach to quantitatively interpret experimental datasets measured in the laboratory and in pilot-scale landfill biocovers. The proposed model is able to reproduce the observed spatial and temporal dynamics of CH4, O2 and CO2 migration in biocovers under different operating conditions and demonstrates the importance of dimensionality in understanding the propagation of gas flow and migration of gas components in such porous media. The model allowed us to capture the coupled transport behavior of gas components, to evaluate the exchange of gas fluxes at the interface between the biocover surface and free air flow, and to investigate the effects of different gas injection patterns on the distribution of gas components within biocovers. The model also helps elucidating the dynamics and competition between methane oxidation and respiration processes observed in the different experimental setups. The simulation outcomes reveal that increasing availability of methane (i.e., higher injection flow rates or higher fractions of CH4 in the injected gas composition) results in progressive dominance of methane oxidation in the biocovers and moderates the impact of respiration. Tire wear particles (TWPs) were one of the source categories of microplastics, and some countries consider it the largest. In the case of Korea, the number of vehicles per a kilometer of road is the highest among 30 OECD countries. Therefore, the concentration of TWPs is considered high. This study aims to estimate TWPs emission factor by using warranty period of tire, driving distance per vehicle per day, weight of tire, and ratio of weight loss of tire, and then, suggests TWPs emission amount by using annual driving distance and emission factor of TWPs of each type of vehicle. As a result, the emission factor of TWPs in Korea appeared as in the following 45-57 mg/vehicle·km (average 51.1 mg/vehicle·km) for passenger cars, 224 mg/vehicle·km for lightweight trucks, 799 mg/vehicle·km for buses, and 949 mg/vehicle·km for heavyweight trucks. The total amount of TWPs to be generated in a year was calculated as 51,795-54,581 tonnes/year (average 53,188 tonnes/year). The amount of TWPs appeared in the order of heavyweight trucks, buses, passenger cars, and lightweight trucks; the contribution of tires of each type of vehicles, to the emitted amount of TWPs, appeared with insignificant differences. This study evaluated the physicochemical and morphological properties of pectin and chitosan particles combined with sugarcane vinasse for soil fertilization applications. Particles were obtained by adding the biopolymeric solutions (pectin or chitosan solution) dropwise into the crosslinking solutions (calcium chloride 1% in ethanolic solution or tripolyphosphate 5% aqueous solution) followed by drying. Vinasse enhanced pectin gel stability improving pectin/vinasse particle properties. Physicochemical characterization indicated that vinasse nutrients were properly incorporated in both pectin and chitosan matrices. Particles showed spherical shape, with an average diameter of 3 and 2 mm for the pectin and chitosan particles with vinasse, respectively. Chitosan particles, compared to pectin, showed lower swelling capacity and solubility and higher mechanical resistance indicating a denser and more compact polymer network. However, the CDW recycling industry is still in its initial stage and developed unevenly across various areas of China. In spite of some qualitative discussions, the quantitative analysis of crucial policies to the development of CDW recycling industry was overlooked. Through literature review, nine influential policy instruments were identified in term of three categories, i.e. control and command policy, market-based policy and information-based policy. The stepwise regression analysis was employed to explore the relationships between the influential policies and the development level of CDW recycling industry in 52 sample Chinese cities. The results demonstrated that Green Product Label, Charge and Tax and Technical Standards had statistically significant association with the development of CDW recycling industry in sample cities.     Studies on anxiety and depression in unruptured intracranial aneurysm (UIA) patients after treatment via endovascular intervention are rare and controversial. We aimed to explore the prevalence of anxiety and depression among Chinese patients with UIAs treated by endovascular intervention and to identify which factors contribute to the development of these symptoms.

    We performed a cross-sectional study on anxiety and depression in patients who underwent endovascular treatment for UIAs using the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS). The demographic, clinical and radiological data for all patients were retrospectively collected from the aneurysm database and medical records.Moreover, we utilized data from a large sample of 200 UIA patients and multivariate logistic regression analysis to investigate the risk factors for anxiety and depression in these patients. Candidate variables with P values less than 0.20 in univariate analysis were included in the multivariate logistic regression analysis.

    Two hundred patients returned completed questionnaires in this study. Of these 200 patients, 34 (17.0%) suffered from anxiety and 31 (15.5%) suffered from depression 30.67 ± 8.6 months after being discharged.     Congenital cataract (CC) is a significant cause of lifelong visual loss, and its genetic diagnosis is challenging due to marked genetic heterogeneity. The purpose of this article is to report the genetic findings in sporadic and familial CC patients.

    Patients (n = 53) who were clinically diagnosed with CC and their parents were recruited. Blood samples were collected in our hospital. Mutations were detected by panel-based next-generation DNA sequencing (NGS) targeting 792 genes frequently involved in common inherited eye diseases.

    We identified variants in 10/37 cases (27.02%) of sporadic CC and 14/16 cases (87.5%) of familial CC, which indicated a significant difference (P = 0.000). Of the 13 variants identified in sporadic cases, nine were previously reported mutations, and three were novel mutations, including one de novo mutation (CRYBB2 c.487C > T). Secondary outcome measures included distribution of clinical or procedural characteristics stratified by FFR and resting Pd/Pa correspondence. Results Four prospective studies matched the inclusion criteria. Analysis was performed on patient level data reaching a total of 759 patients and 887 vessels with paired FFR, QFR, and resting Pd/Pa. The aim of this study was to investigate the characteristics of the patients with TMJ osteoarthrosis on MR imaging. Methods The MR images of 206 TMJs of 103 patients with temporomandibular disorders (TMD) were evaluated retrospectively in this study. The relationship between osteoarthrosis and age, gender, TMJ pain and MR imaging findings, such as disc displacement with or without reduction and TMJ effusion, was analysed. Results The patients with TMJ osteoarthrosis (mean 51.6 years) were significantly older than those without osteoarthrosis (mean 44.8 years, P = 0.027). The incidence of the patients with TMJ osteoarthrosis was significantly different between with (10.0 %) and without reduction (57.0 %, P less then 0.001). Logistic multivariate regression analysis demonstrated that disc displacement without reduction was significant in patients with TMJ osteoarthrosis (odds ratio = 12.285, P less then 0.001). Background It is controversial whether contemporary bioresorbable-polymer drug-eluting stents (BP-DES) are associated with better outcomes compared with durable-polymer DES (DP-DES). Methods Patients undergoing PCI with cobalt-chromium (CoCr)-DP-EES (Xience), platinum-chromium (PtCr)-DP-EES (Promus), or PtCr-BP-EES (Synergy) at one high-volume institution between 2015 and 2017 were included. The primary endpoint was 1-year major adverse cardiac events (****), a composite of death, myocardial infarction, and target-vessel revascularization. Associations were also examined in patients undergoing complex PCI. Multivariable analysis was conducted to adjust for baseline differences across groups. Results We included n = 5,446 patients (CoCr-DP-EES, n = 3,177; PtCr-DP-EES, n = 1,555; PtCr-BP-EES, n = 714). Patients treated with PtCr-BP-EES had higher comorbidity burden and procedural complexity. At 1 year, **** rates were 8.9% for CoCr-DP-EES versus 8.9% for PtCr-DP-EES versus 8.6% for PtCr-BP-EES (p = .97). The incidence of definite/probable stent thrombosis (ST) was also similar (0.6 vs. 0.4 vs. 0.3%, p = .69). Complex PCI was performed in n = 2,894/5,446 (53.1%). The present study aimed to define the internal structures of the nasal cavity of green (Chelonian mydas), loggerhead (Caretta caretta) and leatherback (Dermochelys coriacea) sea turtles using computed tomography. The nasal cavity of green and loggerhead sea turtles contained anterodorsal, anteroventral, posterodorsal diverticula and a posteroventral excavation in the middle. In contrast, the nasal cavity of leatherback sea turtles had more complicated dorsal region comprising anterodorsal and posterodorsal diverticula, and two excavations between the nostril and anterodorsal diverticulum, but no distinct structures at the ventral region. Materials and methods The main comparison was the diagnostic performance of QFR with FFR as reference stratified by correspondence between FFR and resting Pd/Pa. Secondary outcome measures included distribution of clinical or procedural characteristics stratified by FFR and resting Pd/Pa correspondence. Results Four prospective studies matched the inclusion criteria. Analysis was performed on patient level data reaching a total of 759 patients and 887 vessels with paired FFR, QFR, and resting Pd/Pa. The aim of this study was to investigate the characteristics of the patients with TMJ osteoarthrosis on MR imaging. Methods The MR images of 206 TMJs of 103 patients with temporomandibular disorders (TMD) were evaluated retrospectively in this study. The relationship between osteoarthrosis and age, gender, TMJ pain and MR imaging findings, such as disc displacement with or without reduction and TMJ effusion, was analysed. Results The patients with TMJ osteoarthrosis (mean 51.6 years) were significantly older than those without osteoarthrosis (mean 44.8 years, P = 0.027). The incidence of the patients with TMJ osteoarthrosis was significantly different between with (10.0 %) and without reduction (57.0 %, P less then 0.001). Logistic multivariate regression analysis demonstrated that disc displacement without reduction was significant in patients with TMJ osteoarthrosis (odds ratio = 12.285, P less then 0.001). Conclusions This study suggests that characteristics of the patients with TMJ osteoarthrosis on MR imaging include older and disc displacement without reduction.Objectives We aimed to evaluate the 1-year outcomes of three everolimus-eluting stents (EES) for complex percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Background It is controversial whether contemporary bioresorbable-polymer drug-eluting stents (BP-DES) are associated with better outcomes compared with durable-polymer DES (DP-DES). Methods Patients undergoing PCI with cobalt-chromium (CoCr)-DP-EES (Xience), platinum-chromium (PtCr)-DP-EES (Promus), or PtCr-BP-EES (Synergy) at one high-volume institution between 2015 and 2017 were included. The primary endpoint was 1-year major adverse cardiac events (MACE), a composite of death, myocardial infarction, and target-vessel revascularization. Associations were also examined in patients undergoing complex PCI. Multivariable analysis was conducted to adjust for baseline differences across groups. Results We included n = 5,446 patients (CoCr-DP-EES, n = 3,177; PtCr-DP-EES, n = 1,555; PtCr-BP-EES, n = 714). Patients treated with PtCr-BP-EES had higher comorbidity burden and procedural complexity. At 1 year, MACE rates were 8.9% for CoCr-DP-EES versus 8.9% for PtCr-DP-EES versus 8.6% for PtCr-BP-EES (p = .97). The incidence of definite/probable stent thrombosis (ST) was also similar (0.6 vs. 0.4 vs. 0.3%, p = .69). Complex PCI was performed in n = 2,894/5,446 (53.1%). At 1 year, MACE rates were 11.5 versus 10.7 versus 10.3%, respectively (p = .83). The incidence of definite/probable ST was also similar (0.9 vs. 0.3 vs. 0.3%, p = .22). On multivariable analysis, stent type was not an independent predictor of MACE either in the overall or in the complex PCI population. Conclusions We observed comparable 1-year rates of MACE and definite/probable ST in patients undergoing PCI with CoCr-DP-EES, PtCr-DP-EES, and PtCr-BP-EES. Results were unchanged among patients undergoing complex PCI. Future multicenter randomized studies should confirm and extend our findings.The morphology of the tetrapod nasal cavity has adapted to the environment in terms of olfaction and respiration. Reports indicate that the internal structure of the nasal cavity of green sea turtles is more complex than that of turtles in general, but whether or not it is similar among sea turtle species remains unknown. The present study aimed to define the internal structures of the nasal cavity of green (Chelonian mydas), loggerhead (Caretta caretta) and leatherback (Dermochelys coriacea) sea turtles using computed tomography. The nasal cavity of green and loggerhead sea turtles contained anterodorsal, anteroventral, posterodorsal diverticula and a posteroventral excavation in the middle. In contrast, the nasal cavity of leatherback sea turtles had more complicated dorsal region comprising anterodorsal and posterodorsal diverticula, and two excavations between the nostril and anterodorsal diverticulum, but no distinct structures at the ventral region. The airway in the nasal cavity was shorter and thicker in the leatherback, than in the green and loggerhead turtles.
