We examined three major components of the eCB system-endogenous cannabinoids, their receptors and associated enzymes-in ASD children as well as in the valproic acid (VPA) induced animal model in autism. Furthermore, we specifically increased 2-arachidonoylglycerol (2-AG) levels by administering JZL184, a selective inhibitor of monoacylglycerol lipase which is the hydrolytic enzyme for 2-AG, to examine ASD-like behaviours in VPA-induced rats. Results showed that autistic children and VPA-induced rats exhibited reduced eCB content, increased degradation of enzymes and upregulation of CBRs.

  • Kaposi's sarcoma-associated herpesvirus (KSHV) is a human tumorigenic virus and the etiological agent of an endothelial tumor (Kaposi's sarcoma) and two B cell proliferative diseases (primary effusion lymphoma and multicentric Castleman's disease). While in patients with late stage of Kaposi's sarcoma the majority of spindle cells are KSHV-infected, viral copies are rapidly lost in vitro, both upon culture of tumor-derived cells or from newly infected endothelial cells. We addressed this discrepancy by investigating a KSHV-infected endothelial cell line in various culture conditions and in tumors of xenografted ****. We show that, in contrast to two-dimensional endothelial cell cultures, KSHV genomes are maintained under 3D cell culture conditions and in vivo. Additionally, an increased rate of newly infected cells was detected in 3D cell culture. Furthermore, we show that the PI3K/Akt/mTOR and ATM/γH2AX pathways are modulated and support an improved KSHV persistence in 3D cell culture. These mechanisms may contribute to the persistence of KSHV in tumor tissue in vivo and provide a novel target for KS specific therapeutic interventions.     We studied EGFR mutations in circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) and explored their role in predicting the progression-free survival (PFS) of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients treated with erlotinib or gefitinib.

    The L858R, T790M mutations and exon 19 deletions were quantified in plasma using digital droplet polymerase chain reaction (ddPCR). The dynamics of ctDNA mutations over time and relationships with PFS were explored.

    In total, 249 plasma samples (1-13 per patient) were available from 68 NSCLC patients. The T790M and L858R or exon 19 deletion were found in the ctDNA of 49 and 56% patients, respectively. The median (range) concentration in these samples were 7.3 (5.1-3688.7), 11.7 (5.1-12,393.3) and 27.9 (5.9-2896.7) copies/mL, respectively. Using local polynomial regression, the number of copies of EGFR mutations per mL increased several months prior to progression on standard response evaluation.

    This change was more pronounced for the driver mutations than for the resistance mutations. In conclusion, quantification of EGFR mutations in plasma ctDNA was predictive of treatment outcomes in NSCLC patients. Patients were randomized (11) to subcutaneous burosumab or to continue conventional therapy. We present patient-reported outcomes (PROs) from this trial for children aged ≥ 5 years at screening (n = 35), using a Patient-Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System (PROMIS) questionnaire and SF-10 Health Survey for Children. PROMIS pain interference, physical function mobility, and fatigue scores improved from baseline with burosumab at weeks 40 and 64, but changed little with continued conventional therapy. Pain interference scores differed significantly between groups at week 40 (- 5.02, 95% CI - 9.29 to - 0.75; p = 0.0212) but not at week 64. Between-group differences were not significant at either week for physical function mobility or fatigue. Reductions in PROMIS pain interference and fatigue scores from baseline were clinically meaningful with burosumab at weeks 40 and 64 but not with conventional therapy. SF-10 physical health scores (PHS-10) improved significantly with burosumab at week 40 (least-squares mean [standard error] + 5.98 [1.79]; p = 0.0008) and week 64 (+ 5.93 [1.88]; p = 0.0016) but not with conventional therapy (between-treatment differences were nonsignificant).     First time analysis of the epidemiology, management and outcomes of patients with splenic injuries in Switzerland. This study aims to assess the effect of hospital treatment volume on successful non-operative management (NOM) in splenic injuries.

    A multicentric registry-based study including all patients with splenic injuries entered into the Swiss Trauma Registry from 2015 to 2018 was conducted. Patients were stratified according to the hospitals treatment volume of splenic injuries. Primary outcome was the rate of successful NOM.

    During the 4-year study period, 652 patients with splenic injury were included in the study. Median HLOS was 13 (8-21) days. In-hospital mortality was 7.2% (n = 47). The mean number of patients with splenic injuries per center and year was 14.   • Five model equations were used to study the water absorbing expansion kinetics of rice during soaking. The results indicated that the changes of water absorbing expansion in Japonica and Indica rice during soaking at 25, 40, 50, 60 and 70 ℃ can be well simulated (R2 > 0.97) by the five model equations. The linear and polynomial equation could fit the changes of model coefficients and all obtained coefficient parameters could be combined in only one equation to predict the water absorbing characteristics of Japonica and Indica rice. The correlation between the basic nutritional components and model coefficients was further analyzed. The results indicated that the water absorbing rate had significant (P less then 0.05) negative correlation with protein content, the apparent amylose content had significant (P less then 0.05) negative correlation with the maximum expansion ratio, the length and width of rice affect its water absorbing characteristics.Free sulfur dioxide and volatile acidity are parameters related to the quality of wines. (BPEO) was analyzed for antioxidant, hepatoprotective and antifungal activities. BPEO is rich in total phenolics, total flavonoids and proanthocyanidins, and showed good free radicals and lipid peroxidation scavenging capacities. This report identifies delayed onset hypophysitis as a previously unrecognized severe side effect of DAC, highlighting the importance of continuous pharmacovigilance and patient monitoring even after cessation of DAC therapy.Purpose; Returning to community living is an indicator for successful rehabilitation in older adults admitted to geriatric rehabilitation. Predicting successful rehabilitation could contribute to the deployment of early discharge planning, and leads to a more custom-made rehabilitation trajectory. For 13 of the 18 extracted factors, limited (n=3), moderate (n=5) and conflicting (n=5) evidence found a significant association. Conclusions; Caregiver, comorbidities, motor-function, nutritional status, time from onset are significantly related to successful rehabilitation. These factors could support healthcare professionals to indicate successful rehabilitation at admission and contributes to deployment of early discharge planning and development of more custom-made rehabilitation trajectories.

  • Diversified farming systems, for example those that incorporate agroforestry elements, have been proposed as a solution that could maintain and improve multiple ecosystem services. However, habitat diversification in and around arable fields has complex and inconsistent effects on invertebrate crop pests and their natural enemies. This hinders the development of policy recommendations to promote the adoption of such management strategies for the provision of natural pest control services. Here, for the first time, we conducted a trait-based approach to investigate the effect of farming system on plant, invertebrate herbivore, and invertebrate natural enemy communities. We then evaluated this approach by comparing the results to those generated using a traditional taxonomic approach. At each of three working farms, we sampled within an agroforestry field (a diverse farming system comprising alleys of arable crops separated by tree rows), and within a paired non-diversified area of the farm (arable control field in the agroforestry system, while two were more abundant, compared to the arable control fields. Trait-based approaches can provide a better mechanistic understanding of farming system effects on pests and their natural enemies, therefore we recommend their application and testing in future studies of diversified farming systems.

    Four common adiabatic inversion pulses, including hyperbolic secant, wideband uniform rate smooth truncation, frequency offset corrected inversion, and time-resampled frequency offset corrected inversion pulses, were optimized based on a custom-defined loss function that included labeling efficiency and inversion band uniformity. The optimized pulses were implemented in flow-sensitive alternating inversion recovery sequences and tested on phantom and 11 healthy volunteers with 2 constraints 1) specific absorption rate normalized; and 2) equal peak RF amplitude, respectively. A pseudo-continuous arterial spin labeling sequence was implemented for comparison. Quantitative metrics such as perfusion and relative labeling efficiency versus residual tissue signal were calculated.

    Diversified farming systems, for example those that incorporate agroforestry elements, have been proposed as a solution that could maintain and improve multiple ecosystem services. However, habitat diversification in and around arable fields has complex and inconsistent effects on invertebrate crop pests and their natural enemies. This hinders the development of policy recommendations to promote the adoption of such management strategies for the provision of natural pest control services. Here, for the first time, we conducted a trait-based approach to investigate the effect of farming system on plant, invertebrate herbivore, and invertebrate natural enemy communities. We then evaluated this approach by comparing the results to those generated using a traditional taxonomic approach. At each of three working farms, we sampled within an agroforestry field (a diverse farming system comprising alleys of arable crops separated by tree rows), and within a paired non-diversified area of the farm (arable control field in the agroforestry system, while two were more abundant, compared to the arable control fields. Trait-based approaches can provide a better mechanistic understanding of farming system effects on pests and their natural enemies, therefore we recommend their application and testing in future studies of diversified farming systems. To optimize and evaluate adiabatic pulses for pulsed arterial spin labeling at ultrahigh field 7 tesla.   • Pseudopapillary tumor (SPT) is a rare primary pancreatic neoplasm of uncertain origin and low malignant potential that typically affects young females, mostly in their third decade of life. There are only a few reports on fine needle aspiration (FNA) cytology diagnosis of this neoplasm. We report one such case which was diagnosed based on cytomorphologic and immunocytochemical features on endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) guided FNA smears. A 24-year-old woman presented to the gastroenterology clinic with 3-month history of epigastric pain, anorexia, and weight loss (10 kg over same time period). Abdominal CT revealed a large (13X11 cm) heterogeneous cystic lesion occupying most of the pancreatic body. EUS examination confirmed the presence of a large mixed cystic-solid lesion occupying most of the pancreatic body and neck. EUS-guided FNA smears showed tumor cells in sheets with papillary/pseudo-papillary and acinar formation. The tumor cells had abundant clear and vacuolated cytoplasm and round to oval nuclei with bland chromatin. PAS staining revealed positively stained capillary networks at the core of the papillary/pseudo-papillary structures. In addition, there were PAS positive intra-cytoplasmic and extra-cellular globules which were diastase resistant. Immuno-cytochemical staining on direct smears revealed positive reaction for cyclinD1, vimentin, CD56, beta-catenin, CD10 and progesterone receptor. Thus, this is the example of an extremely rare neoplasm which had a typical clinical and imaging setting, and could be conclusively diagnosed because of characteristic cytomorphological and immunocytochemical features.
    Women living with HIV are required to transition into the prevention of mother-to-child transmission of HIV (PMTCT) services when they become pregnant and **** to ART services after delivery. Transition can be a vulnerable time when many women are lost from HIV care yet there is little guidance on the optimal transition approaches to ensure continuity of care. We reviewed the available evidence on existing approaches to transitioning women into and out of PMTCT, outcomes following transition and factors influencing successful transition.

    We searched PubMed and SCOPUS, as well as abstracts from international HIV-focused meetings, from January 2006 to July 2020. Studies were included that examined three points of transition pregnant women already on ART into PMTCT (transition 1), pregnant women living with HIV not yet on ART into treatment services (transition 2) and postpartum women from PMTCT into general ART services after delivery (transition 3). We identified adult (age ≥18 years) patients receiving biologic anti-inflammatory agents between 1 January 2012 and 31 March 2019 across the five Research Partners in the Biologic and Biosimilars Collective Intelligence Consortium's Distributed Research Network. We examined the number of incident use episodes for each biologic, as well as patient demographic and clinical characteristics. Curated data and analytic tools from the Food and Drug Administration's Sentinel System were used to perform the analyses. We identified 90,360 incident episodes of tumor necrosis factor-alpha inhibitors (TNFi) and 70,506 incident episodes of non-TNFi medications. Adalimumab was the most common TNFi drug (47% of all TNFi episodes) and showed a steady increase in utilization during the study period compared to other TNFi agents. Rituximab was the most commonly initiated non-TNFi medication (44% of non-TNFi episodes). Other non-TNFi agents, namely, ustekinumab, vedolizumab, and secukinumab, demonstrated notable increases in utilization over time. Biosimilar use was limited; we observed 653 incident episodes for infliximab-dyyb and 39 incident episodes for infliximab-abda. As more biologics enter the market, greater variation in the use of biologics with similar indications and between biologic originators and biosimilars is anticipated. Because information on efficacy and safety at the time of drug approval is limited, post-marketing surveillance and research is needed to monitor medication safety and evaluate effectiveness between biologic drugs using real-world data.The bone marrow microenvironment plays an essential role in multiple myeloma (MM) progression. We aimed to explore the alterations of levels of long noncoding RNAs and messenger RNAs (mRNAs), derived from exosomes in peripheral blood, in resistance to bortezomib (Btz) of MM patients. Peripheral blood samples were collected from five Btz-resistant and five Btz-sensitive MM patients. Exosomes in patients' peripheral blood were enriched, and the profiles of long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) and mRNAs in exosomes were determined using deep sequencing. Bioinformatics analysis was performed to explore biological function. MTS was employed to determine the viability of Roswell Park Memorial Institute (RPMI) 8226 and LP-1 cells incubated with exosomes derived from Btz-resistant patients. Quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) was used to evaluate the levels of exosomal FFAR1, SP9, HIST1H2BG, and ITIH2. Incubation with Btz-resistant patient-derived exosomes significantly increased the viability of Btz-treated RPMI 8226 and LP-1 cells in a dose-dependent manner.

    Depatux-m is an antibody drug conjugate (ADC) that targets and inhibits growth of cancer cells overexpressing the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) or the 2-7 deletion mutant (EGFRvIII) in tumor models in vitro and in vivo. Treatment of patients suffering from relapsed/refractory glioblastoma (GBM) with a combination of depatux-m and temozolomide (TMZ) tended to increase overall survival. As a first step to understand the nature of the interaction between the two drugs, we investigated whether the interaction was synergistic, additive or antagonistic.

    The efficacy of ADCs, antibodies, TMZ and radiation was tested in xenograft models of GBM, U-87MG and U-87MG EGFRvIII. Both models express EGFR. U-87MG EGFRvIII was transduced to express EGFRvIII. Changes in tumor volume, biomarkers of cell death and apoptosis after treatment were used to measure efficacy of the various treatments. Synergism of depatux-m and TMZ was verified in three-dimensional cultures of U-87MG and U-87MG EGFRvIII by the method of Chou and Talalay.

    Combined with TMZ and radiotherapy (RT), depatux-m inhibited xenograft growth of U-87MG and U-87MG EGFRvIII more than either treatment with depatux-m or TMZ + RT. Durability of the response to depatux-m + TMZ + RT or depatux-m + TMZ was more pronounced in U-87MG EGFRvIII than in U-87MG. Efficacy of depatux-m + TMZ was synergistic in U-87MG EGFRvIII and additive in U-87MG.

    One anastomosis gastric bypass (OAGB) has become one of the most commonly performed gastric bypass procedures in some countries.

    To assess how surgeons viewed the OAGB, perceptions, indications, techniques, and outcomes, as well as the incidence of short- and long-term complications and how they were managed worldwide.

    A questionnaire was sent to all IFSO members in all 5 chapters to study the pattern of practice and outcomes of OAGB.

    Seven hundred and forty-two surgeons responded. The most commonly performed procedures were sleeve gastrectomy (SG), Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB), and OAGB. Preoperatively, 70% of the surgeons performed endoscopy routinely. In regards to weight loss, 83% (570 surgeons) responded that OAGB produces better weight loss than SG, and 49% (342 surgeons) responded that OAGB produces better weight loss than RYGB. The most common length of the biliopancreatic limb (BPL) utilized was 200 cm. Sixty-seven percent of surgeons did not measure the total length of the small bowel.     We investigated the efficiency of the indirect ratio of anti-HBc IgG at predicting HBsAg seroclearance in patients with nucleos(t)ide analogue (NA)-induced HBeAg seroclearance.

    We performed a retrospective study that included 366 chronic hepatitis B patients (March 2007 to December 2016) at a single tertiary hospital. These patients were HBsAg seropositive, and experienced NA-induced HBeAg seroclearance. The indirect ratio of light absorbance of anti-HBc IgG levels were measured with chemiluminescent microparticle immunoassay using the Architect Anti-HBc assay (Abbott Laboratories, IL, USA) as a qualitative method prior to antiviral therapy. We calculated the cumulative incidences of HBsAg seroclearance based on the anti-HBc IgG levels.

    After a 10-year follow-up, 48 patients experienced HBsAg seroclearance (13.1%). Thirty-three of 179 patients who had an indirect ratio of light absorbance of anti-HBc IgG < 11 RLU (relative light unit) showed HBsAg seroclearance (18.4%); 15 of 187 patients who had an indirect ratio of light absorbance of anti-HBc IgG ≥ 11 RLU showed HBsAg seroclerance (8.0%) (p = 0.003). In multivariate analysis, age, and ALT at the time of HBeAg seroclearance were predictors of HBsAg seroclearance. Especially, the relative risk of HBsAg seroclearance in patients with baseline anti-HBc IgG levels < 11 RLU was 2.213 (95% CI, 1.220-4.014), compared to that in patients with higher levels of anti-HBc IgG at baseline (p = 0.009).

Synergism of depatux-m and TMZ was verified in three-dimensional cultures of U-87MG and U-87MG EGFRvIII by the method of Chou and Talalay. Combined with TMZ and radiotherapy (RT), depatux-m inhibited xenograft growth of U-87MG and U-87MG EGFRvIII more than either treatment with depatux-m or TMZ + RT. Durability of the response to depatux-m + TMZ + RT or depatux-m + TMZ was more pronounced in U-87MG EGFRvIII than in U-87MG. One anastomosis gastric bypass (OAGB) has become one of the most commonly performed gastric bypass procedures in some countries. To assess how surgeons viewed the OAGB, perceptions, indications, techniques, and outcomes, as well as the incidence of short- and long-term complications and how they were managed worldwide. A questionnaire was sent to all IFSO members in all 5 chapters to study the pattern of practice and outcomes of OAGB. Seven hundred and forty-two surgeons responded. The most commonly performed procedures were sleeve gastrectomy (SG), Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB), and OAGB. Preoperatively, 70% of the surgeons performed endoscopy routinely. In regards to weight loss, 83% (570 surgeons) responded that OAGB produces better weight loss than SG, and 49% (342 surgeons) responded that OAGB produces better weight loss than RYGB. The most common length of the biliopancreatic limb (BPL) utilized was 200 cm. Sixty-seven percent of surgeons did not measure the total length of the small bowel. These patients were HBsAg seropositive, and experienced NA-induced HBeAg seroclearance. The indirect ratio of light absorbance of anti-HBc IgG levels were measured with chemiluminescent microparticle immunoassay using the Architect Anti-HBc assay (Abbott Laboratories, IL, USA) as a qualitative method prior to antiviral therapy. We calculated the cumulative incidences of HBsAg seroclearance based on the anti-HBc IgG levels. After a 10-year follow-up, 48 patients experienced HBsAg seroclearance (13.1%). Thirty-three of 179 patients who had an indirect ratio of light absorbance of anti-HBc IgG < 11 RLU (relative light unit) showed HBsAg seroclearance (18.4%); 15 of 187 patients who had an indirect ratio of light absorbance of anti-HBc IgG ≥ 11 RLU showed HBsAg seroclerance (8.0%) (p = 0.003). In multivariate analysis, age, and ALT at the time of HBeAg seroclearance were predictors of HBsAg seroclearance. Especially, the relative risk of HBsAg seroclearance in patients with baseline anti-HBc IgG levels < 11 RLU was 2.213 (95% CI, 1.220-4.014), compared to that in patients with higher levels of anti-HBc IgG at baseline (p = 0.009).     Subepithelial lesions (SELs) are defined as being located under the mucosa. Presently, endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine-needle aspiration (EUS-FNA) is commonly performed to diagnose SELs. With the development of new puncture needles, endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine-needle biopsy (EUS-FNB), which allows for the acquisition of large tissue samples, has been proposed. However, studies on EUS-FNB of SELs measuring < 20mm have not yielded satisfactory results. Therefore, we aimed to assess the performance and usefulness of EUS-FNB of SELs measuring less than < 20mm.

    The present study included 62 patients who underwent EUS-FNA or EUS-FNB for SELs at our hospital between January 2015 and March 2019. EUS-FNA was performed using fine-needle aspiration needles, and EUS-FNB was performed using fine-needle biopsy needles. These needles, which come in different shapes and diameters, were compared in terms of their usefulness in performing procedures for SELs measuring ≥ 20mm and those measuring < 20mm.

    For SELs measuring ≥ 20mm, the use of needles with a large diameter, such as 19 or 20 G, resulted in significantly improved diagnostic rates. For SELs measuring < 20mm, the use of FNB needles showed significantly improved diagnostic rates, regardless of the size of the puncture needles.

Public health narratives emphasizing the importance of pregnancy prevention for socially disadvantaged groups without addressing the manifestation of structural inequity in their lives perpetuate reproductive oppression vis-à-vis emphasis on contraceptive use to ensure future economic success.This study aimed to investigate whether group self-practice of systematic clinical observation using the airway, breathing, circulation, disability and exposure (ABCDE) approach in a multiplayer, immersive, interactive virtual reality (VR) application provided a non-inferior learning outcome compared to practicing with physical equipment in first-year medical and nursing students. The study was a non-inferior, parallel-group randomized controlled trial. After a 15-min introduction session on the ABCDE approach, all students were randomly allocated to practice ABCDE in groups of three for 20 min either in a fully immersive, interactive, multiplayer virtual reality application (the VR group) or with physical equipment (the TP group). The primary outcome was the number of students who documented all predefined observations in the correct order of the ABCDE approach on a practical test performed immediately after group practice. A total of 84% of all eligible students participated, with 146 students in the VR group and 143 in the TP group. On the primary outcome, 20% in the VR group and 21% in the TP group got everything correct (absolute difference 1% point, one-sided 95% confidence interval 1.0-8.8% points), showing non-inferiority of the virtual reality application. For other outcomes, the results were mostly similar between the groups. Group self-practice of the ABCDE approach in multiplayer, immersive, interactive virtual reality application was non-inferior to practice with physical equipment.
    Acute kidney injury (AKI) is a common and serious complication of sepsis. MicroRNA-22-3p (miR-22-3p) has been found to be involved in septic AKI progression. The purpose of this study was to analyze both the serum and urinary expression of miR-22-3p in septic AKI patients, and evaluated the clinical value of miR-22-3p in the diagnosis and prognosis of sepsis-induced AKI.

    Serum and urinary expression of miR-22-3p was examined using qRT-PCR. The risk factors related with septic AKI onset were assessed using logistic analysis. A receiver-operating characteristic (ROC) curve was constructed to evaluate the diagnostic performance of miR-22-3p, and the Kaplan-Meier survival curves and Cox regression analysis were used to evaluate the predictive value of miR-22-3p for the 28-day survival of septic AKI patients.

    Both serum and urinary miR-22-3p expression was decreased and negatively correlated with kidney injury biomarkers in septic AKI patients. MiR-22-3p expression was a risk factor for AKI onset and had diagnostic accuracy in septic AKI patients.

Their pregnancy plans, shifted by way of structural inequity, were not aligned with their desires. Under the "I'll Never Have Everything I Need" theme, socially disadvantaged participants expressed significant doubt about ever realizing ideal circumstances for pregnancy preparedness; as pregnancy prevention was not salient, these participants used condoms or no contraception. This analysis indicates that structural inequities constrain reproductive self-determination in emerging adulthood, creating a chasm between desired and actual childbearing that was reflected in contraceptive decision-making. Public health narratives emphasizing the importance of pregnancy prevention for socially disadvantaged groups without addressing the manifestation of structural inequity in their lives perpetuate reproductive oppression vis-à-vis emphasis on contraceptive use to ensure future economic success.This study aimed to investigate whether group self-practice of systematic clinical observation using the airway, breathing, circulation, disability and exposure (ABCDE) approach in a multiplayer, immersive, interactive virtual reality (VR) application provided a non-inferior learning outcome compared to practicing with physical equipment in first-year medical and nursing students. The study was a non-inferior, parallel-group randomized controlled trial. After a 15-min introduction session on the ABCDE approach, all students were randomly allocated to practice ABCDE in groups of three for 20 min either in a fully immersive, interactive, multiplayer virtual reality application (the VR group) or with physical equipment (the TP group). The primary outcome was the number of students who documented all predefined observations in the correct order of the ABCDE approach on a practical test performed immediately after group practice. A total of 84% of all eligible students participated, with 146 students in the VR group and 143 in the TP group. On the primary outcome, 20% in the VR group and 21% in the TP group got everything correct (absolute difference 1% point, one-sided 95% confidence interval 1.0-8.8% points), showing non-inferiority of the virtual reality application. For other outcomes, the results were mostly similar between the groups. Group self-practice of the ABCDE approach in multiplayer, immersive, interactive virtual reality application was non-inferior to practice with physical equipment. Acute kidney injury (AKI) is a common and serious complication of sepsis. MicroRNA-22-3p (miR-22-3p) has been found to be involved in septic AKI progression. The purpose of this study was to analyze both the serum and urinary expression of miR-22-3p in septic AKI patients, and evaluated the clinical value of miR-22-3p in the diagnosis and prognosis of sepsis-induced AKI. Serum and urinary expression of miR-22-3p was examined using qRT-PCR. The risk factors related with septic AKI onset were assessed using logistic analysis. A receiver-operating characteristic (ROC) curve was constructed to evaluate the diagnostic performance of miR-22-3p, and the Kaplan-Meier survival curves and Cox regression analysis were used to evaluate the predictive value of miR-22-3p for the 28-day survival of septic AKI patients. Both serum and urinary miR-22-3p expression was decreased and negatively correlated with kidney injury biomarkers in septic AKI patients. MiR-22-3p expression was a risk factor for AKI onset and had diagnostic accuracy in septic AKI patients.
