The results showed that the CSNH-PC1 has a spherical morphology, with sizes between 420-480 nm and higher thermal resistance compared to HPAM polymers without modification, with a glass transition temperature of 360 °C. We performed untargeted metabolomics on 168 DBSs of 97 patients with 46 different disease-causing genes, and we simulated their whole-exome sequencing results in silico. We showed that for accurate prioritization of disease-causing genes in IEM, it is essential to take into account not only the primary reaction of the affected protein but a larger network of potentially affected metabolites, multiple steps away from the primary reaction.Zoonotic Campylobacter, including C. jejuni and C. coli, are among the most prevalent agents of food-borne enteritis worldwide. The immunopathological sequelae of campylobacteriosis are caused by Toll-like Receptor-4 (TLR4)-dependent host immune responses, induced by bacterial lipooligosaccharide (LOS). In order to investigate C. coli-host interactions, including the roles of the human gut microbiota and TLR4, upon infection, we applied a clinical acute campylobacteriosis model, and subjected secondary abiotic, TLR4-deficient IL10-/- **** and IL10-/- controls to fecal microbiota transplantation derived from human donors by gavage, before peroral C. coli challenge. Until day 21 post-infection, C. coli could stably colonize the gastrointestinal tract of human microbiota-associated (hma) **** of either genotype. TLR4-deficient IL10-/- ****, however, displayed less severe clinical signs of infection, that were accompanied by less distinct apoptotic epithelial cell and innate as well as adaptive immune cell responses in the colon, as compared to IL10-/- counterparts. Furthermore, C. coli infected IL10-/-, as opposed to TLR4-deficient IL10-/-, **** displayed increased pro-inflammatory cytokine concentrations in intestinal and, strikingly, systemic compartments. The other half remained on their original diet (NFD and HFD group). At postnatal day 14 (P14), P25, and P35, pups (n = 4 or 3/group/time) were euthanized. The total retinol concentration in the serum, liver, visceral white adipose tissue (WAT), and brown adipose tissue (BAT) was measured. At P14, the HFD+VA group showed a significantly lower serum VA than the NFD+VA group. At P25, both the VA concentration and total mass in the liver, WAT, and BAT were significantly higher in the HFD+VA than the NFD+VA group.

Several newly synthesized or forgotten silica-based stationary phases proposed for liquid chromatography are described, including non-endcapped, short-chain alkyl phases; hydrophilic and polar-endcapped stationary phases; polar-embedded alkyl phases; long-chain alkyl phases. Stationary phases with aromatic, cyanopropyl, diol and aminopropyl functionalities are also reviewed. Stationary phases of particular interest are biomolecular materials - based on immobilized cholesterol, aminoacids, peptides, proteins or lipoproteins. Packing materials involving macrocyclic chemistry (crown ethers; calixarenes; aza-macrocycles; oligo-and polysaccharides including these of marine origin - chitin- or chitosan-based; macrocyclic antibiotics) are discussed. Since many stationary phases developed for one type of applications (e.g. chiral separation) have been found useful in solving other analytical problems (e.g. drug's plasma protein binding ability), it seemed reasonable to discuss particular chemistries behind the stationary phases presented in this review rather than specific types of interactions or chromatographic modes.The global COVID-19 pandemic has oversaturated many intensive care units to the point of collapse, leading to enormous spikes in death counts. Before critical care becomes a necessity, identifying patients who are likely to become critically ill and providing prompt treatment is a strategy to avoid ICU oversaturation. There is a consensus that a hyperinflammatory syndrome or a "cytokine storm" is responsible for poor outcomes in COVID-19. Measuring cytokine levels at the point of care is required in order to better understand this process. In this Perspective, we summarize the main events behind the cytokine storm in COVID-19 as well as current experimental treatments. We advocate for a new biosensor-enabled paradigm to personalize the management of COVID-19 and stratify patients. Biosensor-guided dosing and timing of immunomodulatory therapies could maximize the benefits of these anti-inflammatory treatments while minimizing deleterious effects. Biosensors will also be essential in order to detect complications such as coinfections and sepsis, which are common in immunosuppressed patients. Finally, we propose the ideal features of these biosensors using some prototypes from the recent literature as examples. Multisensors, lateral flow tests, mobile biosensors, and wearable biosensors are seen as key players for precision medicine in COVID-19.The heats of formation of NF3O and similar C, S, and Si systems are predicted using the accurate composite computational chemistry Feller-Peterson-Dixon (FPD) method. The harmonic vibrational frequencies at the CCSD(T)/aug-cc-pVTZ level are reported and compared to the experimental values for NF3O, its isoelectronic species CF3O- and NF4+, and NF3. The infrared intensities were calculated at the MP2/aug-cc-pVTZ level and show that the infrared absorption is predicted to be like those of CF2Cl2 and SF6 within a factor of ∼2. The calculated heats of formation are in good agreement with the available experimental values. These heats of formation are used to calculate a range of bond dissociation energies (BDEs). It is predicted that NF3O is unlikely to decompose either thermally or photolytically in the troposphere. The potential energy curves for the decomposition of NF3O to NF2O + F are all repulsive, as are the channels to form NF3 and either O3P or O1D. The predicted persistence of NF3O in the troposphere is attributed to the high barrier of its reaction with the OH radical and that light with the wavelength needed for its photodissociation will not reach the troposphere. Reliable experimental measurements of the global warming potential of NF3O are needed to confirm our predictions that NF3O is like NF3 in this respect.The connection between block copolymer architecture and adsorption at fluid/fluid interfaces is poorly understood. We characterize the interfacial properties of a well-defined series of polyethylene oxide/polydimethyl siloxane (PDMS) diblock and BAB triblock copolymers at the dodecane/water interface. They are oil-soluble and quite flexible because of their hydrophobic PDMS block. Rather than relying on equilibrium interfacial measurements for which it is difficult to mitigate experimental uncertainty during adsorption, we combine measurements of steady-state adsorption, dilatational rheology, and adsorption/desorption dynamics. Steady-state interfacial pressure is insensitive to interfacial curvature and mostly agrees with theory. Adsorption does not occur in the diffusive limit as is the case for many aqueous, small-molecule surfactants. Dilatational rheology reveals differences in behavior between the diblocks and triblocks, and all interfaces possess elasticities below the thermodynamic limit. Here we demonstrate the benefits of using transition state theory and Marcus theory to study the rate of proton transfer in HCl solutions. By using long ab initio molecular dynamics simulations, we show that good agreement is obtained between these two different formulations of rate theory and how they can be used to study the pathways and lifetime of proton transfer in aqueous solution. Since both rate theory formulations utilize identical sets of molecular data, this provides a self-consistent theoretical picture of the rates of aqueous phase proton transfer. Specifically, we isolate and quantify the rates of proton transfer, ion-pair dissociation, and solvent exchange in concentrated HCl solutions. Our analysis predicts a concentration dependence to both proton transfer and ion-pairing. Moreover, our estimate of the lifetime for the Zundel species is 0.8 and 1.3 ps for 2 M and 8 M HCl, respectively. We demonstrate that concentration effects can indeed be quantified through the combination of state-of-the-art simulation and theory and provides a picture of the important correlations between the cation (hydronium) and the counterion in acid solutions.

Background Up to 33% of women report a negative or traumatic childbirth experience. Given this high prevalence and its consistent association with adverse postpartum and child outcomes, it is essential to identify predictive factors and to improve the management of the childbirth experience. Objective This systematic review explores and identifies risk and protective factors for women's subjective childbirth experience and birth satisfaction by reviewing original research. Methods A systematic search was performed for childbirth experience literature on three online databases. Reviewed papers focused on women's subjective childbirth experience and its predictive factors. The articles were assessed with the Mixed Methods Appraisal Tool (MMAT). Results Risk and protective factors are notably different depending on the study design, the country, or the method employed. The main risk factors are obstetric, such as emergency caesarean and highly perceived labour pain, and women's dissatisfaction with social support. The main protective factors are obstetric, including highly perceived control during labour or satisfaction regarding partner's support. However, overall results are inconclusive for methodological or conceptual reasons. Conclusions Several risk factors can be identified through pregnancy or childbirth. This underlines the importance of the quality of maternal interpersonal and professional relationships, especially with first-line perinatal health-care professionals, such as midwives.Health care professionals (HCPs) and trainees feel ill-equipped to discuss weight-related issues with children and their families. Results The rate of self-harm was 38.1% before the assault and 37.8% after the assault (T1). History of family dysfunction (OR 3.60 (1.30, 10.01)), depressive symptoms at T0 (OR 5.83 (2.35, 14.43)) or T1 (OR 2.79 (1.20, 6.50), and posttraumatic stress symptoms at T1 (OR 3.21 (1.36, 7.58)) predicted self-harm at T1. These effects were attenuated when adjusting for confounders, except for depressive symptoms at T0 (OR 4.
Background Up to 33% of women report a negative or traumatic childbirth experience. Given this high prevalence and its consistent association with adverse postpartum and child outcomes, it is essential to identify predictive factors and to improve the management of the childbirth experience. Objective This systematic review explores and identifies risk and protective factors for women's subjective childbirth experience and birth satisfaction by reviewing original research. Methods A systematic search was performed for childbirth experience literature on three online databases. Reviewed papers focused on women's subjective childbirth experience and its predictive factors. The articles were assessed with the Mixed Methods Appraisal Tool (MMAT). Results Risk and protective factors are notably different depending on the study design, the country, or the method employed. The main risk factors are obstetric, such as emergency caesarean and highly perceived labour pain, and women's dissatisfaction with social support. The main protective factors are obstetric, including highly perceived control during labour or satisfaction regarding partner's support. However, overall results are inconclusive for methodological or conceptual reasons. Conclusions Several risk factors can be identified through pregnancy or childbirth. This underlines the importance of the quality of maternal interpersonal and professional relationships, especially with first-line perinatal health-care professionals, such as midwives.Health care professionals (HCPs) and trainees feel ill-equipped to discuss weight-related issues with children and their families. Pentane demonstrated to have larger interactions with the packing material when HFS was added. NRT/EBRT ratio variated along the whole operational time, being larger at the last stage. Exposure to phthalates has recently become a major public health concern. The information of indoor airborne phthalates and their air-particle partition in real indoor environmental condition is still limited. In this study, the gas- and PM2.5-concentrations of 7 phthalates in 40 residences were concurrently measured in summer and winter. The major phthalates (median concentration in the summer and winter, respectively) in indoor air were DMP (2442.3 and 2403.4 ng/m3), DiBP (801.0 and 640.0 ng/m3) and DnBP (5173.2 and 1379.6 ng/m3), whereas the major phthalates in PM2.5 were DiBP (1055.1 and 585.9 ng/m3) and DnBP (1658.5 and 1517.0 ng/m3) and DEHP (215.1 and 344.9 ng/m3). Air-PM2.5 partition coefficients (Kp) of DiBP, DnBP and DEHP were calculated the summer and winter median values (m3/μg) were 0.053 and 0.011 for DiBP, 0.010 and 0.004 for DnBP, 0.021 and 0.025 for DEHP, respectively. Air-PM2.5 partition of DiBP and DnBP approached equilibrium, while that of DEHP did not reach equilibrium in either season. The impacts of built environmental conditions on phthalate concentrations were characterized. Elevated temperature resulted in accumulation of airborne phthalates. Higher air humidity led to more water absorption of aerosols in summer, facilitated mass transfer of phthalates from air to PM2.5, and resulted in greater Kp of DiBP and DnBP in the summer. Any factors such as proximity to local traffic highway and indoor smoking activities, which can increase indoor PM2.5 concentrations, resulted in significantly higher airborne phthalate concentrations. Improving ventilation was not an effective measure to reduce indoor airborne phthalate concentrations. Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are important air pollution issues because of their potential health effects, and the contribution to ground ozone and secondary particulate matter. In this study, 53 VOC species near nine roads in Hanoi were monitored by sampling and analyzed by GC-FID four times per day on weekdays and in the morning on the weekend, from December 2014 to January 2015. In parallel with VOC sampling, vehicle number was counted, and meteorological conditions were recorded. A large share of motorbikes was found, accounted for 82% of overall for all period, and 88% in rush hours. The average TVOC concentration was 305.1 ppb; while those of BTEX were 12.8/27.4/4.8/15.9/6.0 ppb for benzene/toluene/ethylbenzene/m,p-xylenes/o-xylene, respectively. Isopentane was the most abundant species of VOCs. A significant carcinogenic risk of benzene species was found. Ozone formation potential (OFP) of VOCs was of 1752.7 ppb. Levels of VOC species reflected well the transportation volume. Strong correlations between motorbike number related parameters and ethylbenzene were found. High correlations were also found among ethylbenzene and almost all other VOC species. It implied that the majority of VOCs near road emitted from the same source, which is motorbikes. The calculation using emission factors from COPERT 5 model with conditions of fleets in Hanoi showed that VOCs from motorbikes contributed to more than 90% of the VOC level. In a 3-day duplicate diet study of a nursing mother-infant cohort (n = 20), the levels of polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs), hexabromocyclododecane (HBCDD), and 5 novel brominated flame retardants (BFRs) were measured in 60 24-h duplicate diet samples and 20 breast milk samples provided by the mothers. The dietary BFR intake and related health risks of the mothers and their babies due to food consumption or human milk ingestion were subsequently assessed. At median concentrations of 284, 264 and 177 pg/g wet weight (ww) in the diet, decabrominated diphenyl ethers (BDE-209), decabromodiphenyl ethane (DBDPE) and HBCDD were predominant among the total BFRs. In human milk, HBCDD was the most abundant BFR, followed by BDE-209 and DBDPE, which indicates that BDE-209 and HBCDD have remained ubiquitous in the environment because of their continuous production and use in China. Meanwhile, concentrations of DBDPE were comparative to those of PBDEs and HBCDD in both diet and human milk, and DBDPE also had **** higher concentrations than any other NBFRs, which indicates that the BFR consumption pattern in China is shifting from legacy BFRs to NBFRs. The median estimated dietary intakes (EDIs) of BDE-209, HBCDD and DBDPE for the mothers were 6.83, 3.73 and 5.44 ng/kg bw/day, respectively, and EDIs for their nursing babies were 24.7, 41.9 and 7.83 ng/kg bw/day, respectively. The nursing infants showed higher BFR body burden than the mothers. However, the EDIs obtained for both mothers and their babies discloses a low health risk to this mother-infant cohort. Pantropical spotted dolphins are apex predators and have a long lifespan, which makes them susceptible to chemical pollutants such as polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs), which are associated with immunotoxicity in wildlife. However, the effects of PBDEs and their mechanism of immunotoxicity in dolphins is largely unknown. The results suggested BDE-100 and -209 increased prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) production via increased expression of COX-2 and PTGES expression. Only BDE-100 increased expression level of the prostaglandin E2 receptor EP4 while BDE-47 and BDE-209 decreased its expression. This probably explained why suppressive effect on the expression level of anti-inflammatory cytokines were only found in exposure with BDE-47 and BDE-209 rather than BDE-100. The results showed that PBDEs stimulate innate immune response by triggering PGE2-EPs-cAMP-cytokines signaling.

Inspired by the success of fluorinated corticosteroids in the 1950s and fluoroquinolones in the 1980s, fluorine-containing pharmaceuticals, which are also known as fluoro-pharmaceuticals, have been attracting attention for more than half of a century. Presently, about 20% of the commercial pharmaceuticals are fluoro-pharmaceuticals. In this mini-review, we analyze the prevalence of fluoro-pharmaceuticals in the market and categorize them into several groups based on the chemotype of the fluoro-functional groups, their therapeutic purpose, and the presence of heterocycles and/or chirality to highlight the structural motifs, patterns, and promising trends in fluorine-based drug design. Our database contains 340 fluoro-pharmaceuticals, from the first fluoro-pharmaceutical, Florinef, to the latest fluoro-pharmaceuticals registered in 2019 and drugs that have been withdrawn. The names and chemical structures of all the 340 fluorinated drugs discussed are provided in the Supporting Information.Objective sleep quality can be measured by electroencephalography (EEG), a non-invasive technique to quantify electrical activity generated by the brain. With EEG, sleep depth is measured by appearance and an increase in slow wave activity (scalp-SWA). EEG slow waves (scalp-SW) are the manifestation of underlying synchronous membrane potential transitions between silent (DOWN) and active (UP) states. This bistable periodic rhythm is defined as slow oscillation (SO). During its "silent state" cortical neurons are hyperpolarized and appear inactive, while during its "active state" cortical neurons are depolarized, fire spikes and exhibit continuous synaptic activity, excitatory and inhibitory. In adults, data from high-density EEG revealed that scalp-SW propagate across the cortical mantle in complex patterns. However, scalp-SW propagation undergoes modifications across development. We present novel data from children, indicating that scalp-SW originate centro-parietally, and emerge more frontally by adolescence. Based on the concept that SO and SW could actively modify neuronal connectivity, we discuss whether they fulfill a key purpose in brain development by actively conveying modifications of the maturing brain.Objective To evaluate the extent to which transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) can identify discrete cortical representation of lower-limb muscles in healthy individuals. Methods Motor evoked potentials were recorded from resting vastus medialis, rectus femoris, vastus lateralis, medial and lateral hamstring, and medial and lateral gastrocnemius muscles on the right leg of 16 young healthy adults using bipolar surface electrodes. TMS was delivered through a 110-mm double-cone coil at 63 sites over the left hemisphere. Location and size of cortical representation and number of discrete peaks were quantified. Results Within the quadriceps group there was a main effect of muscle on anterior-posterior centre of gravity (p = 0.010), but the magnitude of the difference was small. Results The mean age of the participants was 35.50±9.25 years and the majority of the participants were married (54; 62.1%). Quality of sleep was related to family history of MS and history of using medications (antidepressants like tricyclics, MAOIs, SSRIs, and SNRIs and anxiety drugs such as diazepam, oxazepam, and alprazolam (p less then 0.05). Moreover, there was a significant relationship between length of sleep and history of using medicines (p less then 0.05). Finally, the results showed that there was a strong statistical relationship between performance during the day and fatigue (p less then 0.05). Inspired by the success of fluorinated corticosteroids in the 1950s and fluoroquinolones in the 1980s, fluorine-containing pharmaceuticals, which are also known as fluoro-pharmaceuticals, have been attracting attention for more than half of a century. Presently, about 20% of the commercial pharmaceuticals are fluoro-pharmaceuticals. In this mini-review, we analyze the prevalence of fluoro-pharmaceuticals in the market and categorize them into several groups based on the chemotype of the fluoro-functional groups, their therapeutic purpose, and the presence of heterocycles and/or chirality to highlight the structural motifs, patterns, and promising trends in fluorine-based drug design. Our database contains 340 fluoro-pharmaceuticals, from the first fluoro-pharmaceutical, Florinef, to the latest fluoro-pharmaceuticals registered in 2019 and drugs that have been withdrawn. The names and chemical structures of all the 340 fluorinated drugs discussed are provided in the Supporting Information.Objective sleep quality can be measured by electroencephalography (EEG), a non-invasive technique to quantify electrical activity generated by the brain. With EEG, sleep depth is measured by appearance and an increase in slow wave activity (scalp-SWA). EEG slow waves (scalp-SW) are the manifestation of underlying synchronous membrane potential transitions between silent (DOWN) and active (UP) states. This bistable periodic rhythm is defined as slow oscillation (SO). During its "silent state" cortical neurons are hyperpolarized and appear inactive, while during its "active state" cortical neurons are depolarized, fire spikes and exhibit continuous synaptic activity, excitatory and inhibitory. In adults, data from high-density EEG revealed that scalp-SW propagate across the cortical mantle in complex patterns. However, scalp-SW propagation undergoes modifications across development. We present novel data from children, indicating that scalp-SW originate centro-parietally, and emerge more frontally by adolescence. Based on the concept that SO and SW could actively modify neuronal connectivity, we discuss whether they fulfill a key purpose in brain development by actively conveying modifications of the maturing brain.Objective To evaluate the extent to which transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) can identify discrete cortical representation of lower-limb muscles in healthy individuals. The development of lignocellulose-based adsorbents for the removal of heavy metals from wastewater has attracted **** recent attention. In this work, a high-yield cellulose bacterial strain Comamonas testosteroni FJ17 was evaluated for its capacity to modify rice straw towards increased Cu(II) removal. For optimum modification time (45.5 h), inoculum concentration (1.25%), and rice straw dose (12.6 g L-1) the optimized adsorption capacity was 28.4 mg g-1. After strain FJ17 modification the equilibrium adsorption percentage of rice straw for Cu(II) increased from 6.6 to 27.4% at an initial concentration of 100 mg L-1. This increase was attributed to an increase in rice straw surface modification, leading to improved adsorption ability. SEM-EDS indicated that, following strain FJ17 treatment, the surface of the rice straw became more disintegrated and the specific surface area consequentially increased from 1.9 to 3.7 m2 g-1. FTIR analysis also showed new functional groups (carbonyl) appearing, and CC and CH3CR functionality being enhanced after biomodification. Functional groups associated with the benzene ring, silicified polymer and carbohydrates were all involved in the adsorption process. Adsorption of Cu was well described by the Freundlich isotherm model (R2 > 0.98) where adsorption was endothermic with potential for both chemical and physical interactions to coexist. Reusability experiments showed that the removal efficiency of Cu(II) decreased from 96.9 to 73.2% after five cycles. Overall C.testosteroni-treated rice straw had significant potential as a heavy metal biosorbent.Organic matter plays many roles in the soil ecosystem. In this sense, the humic substances (HS), a heterogeneous mixture of compounds, naturally derived from degradation of biomass, have been widely studied in environmental sciences. Recent advances showed a new way to produce humic-like substances (HLS) through hydrothermal carbonization of biomass. Thus, this study aimed to evaluate the HLS of hydrochars, produced by using a mixture of sugarcane bagasse and vinasse with sulfuric acid added (1 and 4% v/v), and to assess their interactions with metal ions, (Fe(III), Al(III), Cu(II) and Co(II)) using EEM-PARAFAC and a two-dimensional FTIR correlation analysis. The results were compared to the humic substances extracted from the Amazonian Anthrosol, as a model of anthropogenic organic matter. NMR analysis showed that humic-like extracts from hydrochar are mainly hydrophobic, while the soil has a greater contribution of polar moieties. The HLS and HS showed similar complexation capacities for Fe(III), Al(III) and Cu(II) assays. For Co(II) HLS exhibited larger affinities than HS. Two-dimensional correlation analysis FTIR showed that chemical groups may undergo conformational alteration with metal additions to achieve more stable arrangements (higher stability constant). Results The mean age of all participants was 56.0 ± 12.2 years. The frequencies and prevalence of participants with hypertension were 3666 (32.39%) in men and 5576(32.57%) in women, respectively. The odds ratio (OR) and 95% confidence interval (CI) of participants with snoring frequency of less then 3 times/week, ≥3 times/week was 1.10(1.02-1.20), and 1.15(1.08-1.23) for hypertension, compared to those without snoring. Participants with a snoring (≥3 times/week) and higher exposure concentrations of PM1, PM2.5, PM10, and NO2 had 2.58-fold(95% CI 2.30-2.90), 3.03-fold(95% CI 2.69-3.41), 2.89-fold(95% CI 2.57-3.25) and 2.75-fold(95% CI 2.44-3.10) for hypertension, compared to those without snoring and low concentrations of air pollutants. Additionally, participants with high PM1 and ≥3 times/week snoring (OR 1.32, 95% CI 1.18-1.48) was at a higher likelihood for prevalent hypertension, compared to those without snoring and with high PM1. Conclusions Snoring and high ambient air pollutants might be important predictors of hypertension, and higher concentration of PM1 might aggravate the association between snoring and hypertension.Catalytic reduction of toxic and aqueous stable nitrophenols by gold nanoparticles (Au NPs) is hot issue due to the serious environmental pollution in recent years. But the expensive price and poor recycling performance of Au NPs limit its further application. Defect-free high silica zeolite is suitable support for Au NPs due to its cheaper price, higher stability and stronger adsorbability, but the low alumina content and defect sites usually lead to poor Au NPs loading efficiency. Herein, we reported the improved Au NPs loading efficiency on defect-free high silica ZSM-5 zeolite through the additional surface fluffy structure. The fluffy structure was created through the addition of multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) and ethanol into synthesis gel. Highly dispersed ca. 4 nm Au NPs on zeolite surface are prepared by the green enhanced sol-gel immobilization method. The Au NPs loading efficiency on conventional ZSM-5 zeolite is 10.7%, in contrast, this result can arrive to 82.6% on fluffy structure ZSM-5 zeolite. The fluffy structure ZSM-5 zeolite and Au NPs nanocomposites show higher efficiency than traditional Au/ZSM-5 nanocomposites towards catalytic reduction of nitrophenols. Additionally, the experiments with different affecting factors (MWCNTs dosage, aging time, catalysts dosage, pH, initial 4-NP concentration, storage time and recycling times) were carried out to test general applicability of the nanocomposites. And the degradation of nitrophenols experiment was operated to explore the catalytic performance of the prepared nanocomposites in further environmental application. The detailed possible relationship between zeolite with fluffy structure and Au NPs is also proposed in the paper.

Tricuspid valve regurgitation is an independent predictor of increased mortality1. Especially in elderly patients, tricuspid valve surgery is associated with high perioperative risks2. Despite new therapeutic options with transcatheter valve repair, anatomical complexities especially resulting from pre-operated valves still remain everyday challenges. In this case, edge-to-edge valve repair appears to be an attractive option after failed tricuspid valve surgery.Objective To evaluate the rate of pregnancy following hysteroscopic management of intrauterine adhesions. Design Retrospective study. Setting From June 2009 to December 2014 in a teaching hospital. Patients Women treated by operative hysteroscopy for intrauterine adhesions. Intervention Operative hysteroscopy to manage intrauterine adhesions. Main outcome measure rate of intrauterine pregnancy after hysteroscopic management of intrauterine adhesions. Results Out of the 202 women whom benefit from hysteroscopic adhesiolysis, 112(55%) had an effective pregnancy desire. Among them, an intrauterine pregnancy was obtained for 58 women (52%) with a trend to a lower rate for type IV and Vb intrauterine adhesions management (40.5%, p = 0.09). Pregnancy rates were similar for women undergoing one or more procedures. Conclusion Hysteroscopic management of intrauterine adhesions seems useful as it leads to a pregnancy rate of 52%. However, this rate is lower in case of type IV and Vb intrauterine adhesions. Repeated procedures don't seem to lead to less pregnancy; however, a more powerful prospective study should be performed to answer this specific question.Objective To examine the time from publication of the protocol for a Cochrane review to publication of the Cochrane review for the entire Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews (CDSR). Study design and setting s Cochrane reviews from the CDSR published between 1995-2019 were assessed. Characteristics of the reviews were extracted and time from publication of protocol to publication of review was calculated. These times were grouped for relevant characteristics and visualized through charts and tables to illustrate trends. Results Of the total 8,201 reviews in the CDSR, 6,764 were included. The median publication time was two years (range 0 days to 21.7 years). Reviews that were published more than five years after the protocol made up 11% of all included reviews, while 19% of reviews were published within a year. The median publication time for the individual Cochrane Review Groups ranged from 15-39 months. There are seven algorithms available from five manufacturers. Four of the manufacturers have mode conversion algorithms that pace AAI(R), but in the presence of failed atrio-ventricular (AV) conduction, demonstrate algorithm offset and convert to DDD(R) with ventricular pacing. With three manufacturers, there is no mode conversion, but rather AV extension to encourage AV conduction. Each of these have a unique design and when ventricular pacing is present will regularly schedule conduction testing, to encourage AV conduction and hence algorithm-onset. All of these algorithms appear to violate the rule of AV conduction by allowing the AV delay for sensed ventricular events to be longer than for ventricular paced events. The result are frequently bizarre electrocardiographic (ECG) appearances, often unique to the company algorithm, but also suggesting pacemaker malfunction. This review will highlight and illustrate the features of all these algorithms as the appear on the ECG. The review will also illustrate other situations which result in unintended ventricular pacing.A bronchogenic cyst in the left atrium is rare. We report the case of a 17-year-old male patient who was admitted to the emergency department because of severe chest pain and dyspnea. He was diagnosed using echocardiography and computed tomography, which revealed a huge cardiac tumour in the dome of the left atrium. He was surgically treated with tumour enucleation. The resultant atrial dome defect was reconstructed with a bovine pericardial patch. Pathologic investigation revealed that the tumour was a bronchogenic benign cyst.Most visceral leishmaniasis (VL) cases reported in Brazil are from the northeast region, where the disease is strongly linked to poverty. In spite of the still existing inequalities, many social improvements were achieved in the past decades in this region, but the possible impact of these improvements on VL remains poorly investigated. We conducted a cross-sectional study coupled with a spatial analysis of VL cases notified in northeastern Brazil from 2007 to 2017. In total, 21,703 cases were reported during this period, with an annual incidence of 3.6 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. Children under 10 years old and males were more affected, and most cases were from urban areas. Living in municipalities situated in the Cerrado, Amazon or, to a lesser extent, in the Caatinga biomes was a risk factor for VL. Tricuspid valve regurgitation is an independent predictor of increased mortality1. Especially in elderly patients, tricuspid valve surgery is associated with high perioperative risks2. Despite new therapeutic options with transcatheter valve repair, anatomical complexities especially resulting from pre-operated valves still remain everyday challenges. In this case, edge-to-edge valve repair appears to be an attractive option after failed tricuspid valve surgery.Objective To evaluate the rate of pregnancy following hysteroscopic management of intrauterine adhesions. Design Retrospective study. Setting From June 2009 to December 2014 in a teaching hospital. Patients Women treated by operative hysteroscopy for intrauterine adhesions. Intervention Operative hysteroscopy to manage intrauterine adhesions. Main outcome measure rate of intrauterine pregnancy after hysteroscopic management of intrauterine adhesions. Results Out of the 202 women whom benefit from hysteroscopic adhesiolysis, 112(55%) had an effective pregnancy desire. Among them, an intrauterine pregnancy was obtained for 58 women (52%) with a trend to a lower rate for type IV and Vb intrauterine adhesions management (40.5%, p = 0.09). Pregnancy rates were similar for women undergoing one or more procedures. Conclusion Hysteroscopic management of intrauterine adhesions seems useful as it leads to a pregnancy rate of 52%. However, this rate is lower in case of type IV and Vb intrauterine adhesions. Reviews that were published more than five years after the protocol made up 11% of all included reviews, while 19% of reviews were published within a year. Four of the manufacturers have mode conversion algorithms that pace AAI(R), but in the presence of failed atrio-ventricular (AV) conduction, demonstrate algorithm offset and convert to DDD(R) with ventricular pacing. With three manufacturers, there is no mode conversion, but rather AV extension to encourage AV conduction. Each of these have a unique design and when ventricular pacing is present will regularly schedule conduction testing, to encourage AV conduction and hence algorithm-onset. All of these algorithms appear to violate the rule of AV conduction by allowing the AV delay for sensed ventricular events to be longer than for ventricular paced events. We report the case of a 17-year-old male patient who was admitted to the emergency department because of severe chest pain and dyspnea. The resultant atrial dome defect was reconstructed with a bovine pericardial patch. Surgical loupes and operating microscopes used to perform complex microsurgery magnify the surgical field are very expensive. Our goal was to identify low-cost alternatives to teach and practice microsurgery suturing. INNOVATION Use cell phone camera with zoom capacity to teach and practice microsurgery suturing. RESULTS Cell phones with zoom feature are widely available even in low- and middle-income countries. A cell phone was placed on a stand over a microsurgery practice station. The camera was used to zoom and focus on the suturing station to mimic a surgical field with loupes or microscope magnification. Nine attending surgeons and 7 residents practiced microsurgery with microsurgical instruments and 9-0 nylon suture under the magnification of a cell phone camera. The Stanford Microsurgery and Resident Training Scale was used to track their progress. A feedback survey was given to the participants to identify the usefulness of the cell phone setup for microsurgery suture practice. CONCLUSIONS Global surgery teaching and training face many challenges especially limited resources. Identifying low-cost alternative is crucial. Image pairs were randomized to whether preprocedural or postprocedural images came first. Participants viewed each image until they decided upon an aesthetic rating (scored 1-10), while an eye-tracking device recorded participants' gaze. After harvesting the hind limbs, cryoprotectant was applied to 20 limbs, and the rest were cryopreserved without cryoprotectant for 15 days. After being thawed, the amputated limb was replanted in situ. Nerves, skins and gastrocnemius muscles were collected for hematoxylin and eosin staining, terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase dUTP nick end labeling staining, and transmission electron microscopy observation. RESULTS Muscle and skin tissues treated with cryoprotectant restored a better outline after being frozen than those not treated, whereas nerves were not significantly different between the 2 groups. After replantation, some of the myofibrils of the muscle were in disarray, but the sarcomere structure remained intact at approximately 6 hours postoperatively. At 72 hours, a transmission electron microscopy scan showed that the myofibrillar arrangement was disorderly, with segmental myofilament breakage, and the sarcomere structure was destroyed in some cases. In addition, the scan revealed increased apoptotic cells and collapse of basic structures in the skin and nerves. As a matter of fact, this work not only has provided a general molecular design methodology for multiple species imaging but also has revealed oxidative-stress-induced intracellular functions related to H2O2 and ATP in mitochondria based on this developed TFP probe.Intrinsic properties of a compound (e.g., electronic structure, crystallographic structure, optical and magnetic properties) define notably its chemical and physical behavior. In the case of nanomaterials, these fundamental properties depend on the occurrence of quantum mechanical size effects and on the considerable increase of the surface to bulk ratio. Here, we explore the size dependence of both crystal and electronic properties of CeO2 nanoparticles (NPs) with different sizes by state-of-the art spectroscopic techniques. X-ray diffraction, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and high-energy resolution fluorescence-detection hard X-ray absorption near-edge structure (HERFD-XANES) spectroscopy demonstrate that the as-synthesized NPs crystallize in the fluorite structure and they are predominantly composed of CeIV ions. The strong dependence of the lattice parameter with the NPs size was attributed to the presence of adsorbed species at the NPs surface thanks to Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and thermogravimetric analysis measurements. In addition, the size dependence of the t2g states in the Ce LIII XANES spectra was experimentally observed by HERFD-XANES and confirmed by theoretical calculations.Multicomponent supramolecular copolymerization promises to construct complex nanostructures with emergent properties. Herein, we target this challenge and demonstrate unprecedented two-component sequence controlled supramolecular copolymerization by manipulating thermodynamic and kinetic routes in the pathway complexity of self-assembly of the constitutive monomers. Extensive molecular dynamics simulations provided useful mechanistic insights into the monomer exchange rates and free energy of interactions between the monomers that dictate the self-assembly pathway and sequence. The fluorescent nature of core-substituted naphthalene diimide monomers has been further utilized to characterize the three sequences via Structured Illumination Microscopy (SIM).Exploring isotropic negative thermal expansion (NTE) compounds is interesting, but remains challenging. Here, a new concept of "average atomic volume" is proposed to find new NTE open-framework materials. According to this guidance, two NTE compounds, AgB(CN)4 and CuB(CN)4, have been discovered, of which AgB(CN)4 exhibits a large NTE over a wide temperature range (αv = -40 × 10-6 K-1, 100-600 K). The analysis by extended X-ray absorption fine structure spectroscopy and first-principles calculation indicate that (i) the NTE driving force comes from the transverse vibrations of bridge chain atoms of C and N, corresponding to the low-frequency phonon modes; and (ii) the same transverse vibration direction of C and N atoms is a key factor for the occurrence of strong NTE in AgB(CN)4. The present concept of "average atomic volume" can be a simple parameter to explore new NTE compounds especially in those open-framework materials.Ultrahigh field 27Al1H 2D correlation NMR experiments demonstrate that at least two framework Al(IV) sites with hydroxyl groups can exist in acidic zeolite catalysts in their dehydrated and catalytically active states. In addition to the known Al(IV) at the framework bridging acid site (BAS), a new site created by a second tetrahedral Al atom and its hydroxyl group protons in zeolite HZSM-5 is clearly resolved at 35.2 T field strengths, enabled by recently developed series-connected hybrid (SCH) magnet technology. Coupled with computational modeling, extensive 27Al MQMAS experiments at multiple field strengths, and 1H MAS NMR experiments, these data indicate that this second tetrahedrally coordinated Al site (denoted Al(IV)-2) experiences an increased chemical shift and unique quadrupolar parameters relative to the BAS in both dehydrated and hydrated states. These new experimental data, supported by computational and catalytic reaction work, indicate that the second site arises from partially bonded framework (SiO)4-n-Al(OH)n species that significantly increase catalyst reactivity in benzene hydride-transfer and n-hexane cracking reactions. Al(IV)-2 sites result either from framework crystallization defects or from incomplete postsynthetic hydrolysis of a framework Al, prior to the formation of extraframework Al. Populations of this second acidic proton site created by the Al(IV)-2 species are shown to be controlled via postsynthetic catalyst treatments, should be general to different catalyst structures, and significantly enhance catalyst reactivity in the cited probe reactions when they are present. X-ray diffraction, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and high-energy resolution fluorescence-detection hard X-ray absorption near-edge structure (HERFD-XANES) spectroscopy demonstrate that the as-synthesized NPs crystallize in the fluorite structure and they are predominantly composed of CeIV ions. The strong dependence of the lattice parameter with the NPs size was attributed to the presence of adsorbed species at the NPs surface thanks to Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and thermogravimetric analysis measurements. In addition, the size dependence of the t2g states in the Ce LIII XANES spectra was experimentally observed by HERFD-XANES and confirmed by theoretical calculations.Multicomponent supramolecular copolymerization promises to construct complex nanostructures with emergent properties. However, even with two monomeric components, various possible outcomes such as self-sorted supramolecular homopolymers, a random (statistical) supramolecular copolymer, an alternate supramolecular copolymer, or a complex supramolecular block copolymer can occur, determined by their intermolecular interactions and monomer exchange dynamics and hence structural prediction is extremely challenging. Herein, we target this challenge and demonstrate unprecedented two-component sequence controlled supramolecular copolymerization by manipulating thermodynamic and kinetic routes in the pathway complexity of self-assembly of the constitutive monomers. Extensive molecular dynamics simulations provided useful mechanistic insights into the monomer exchange rates and free energy of interactions between the monomers that dictate the self-assembly pathway and sequence. The fluorescent nature of core-substituted naphthalene diimide monomers has been further utilized to characterize the three sequences via Structured Illumination Microscopy (SIM).Exploring isotropic negative thermal expansion (NTE) compounds is interesting, but remains challenging. Here, a new concept of "average atomic volume" is proposed to find new NTE open-framework materials. According to this guidance, two NTE compounds, AgB(CN)4 and CuB(CN)4, have been discovered, of which AgB(CN)4 exhibits a large NTE over a wide temperature range (αv = -40 × 10-6 K-1, 100-600 K). The analysis by extended X-ray absorption fine structure spectroscopy and first-principles calculation indicate that (i) the NTE driving force comes from the transverse vibrations of bridge chain atoms of C and N, corresponding to the low-frequency phonon modes; and (ii) the same transverse vibration direction of C and N atoms is a key factor for the occurrence of strong NTE in AgB(CN)4. The present concept of "average atomic volume" can be a simple parameter to explore new NTE compounds especially in those open-framework materials.Ultrahigh field 27Al1H 2D correlation NMR experiments demonstrate that at least two framework Al(IV) sites with hydroxyl groups can exist in acidic zeolite catalysts in their dehydrated and catalytically active states. In addition to the known Al(IV) at the framework bridging acid site (BAS), a new site created by a second tetrahedral Al atom and its hydroxyl group protons in zeolite HZSM-5 is clearly resolved at 35.2 T field strengths, enabled by recently developed series-connected hybrid (SCH) magnet technology. Coupled with computational modeling, extensive 27Al MQMAS experiments at multiple field strengths, and 1H MAS NMR experiments, these data indicate that this second tetrahedrally coordinated Al site (denoted Al(IV)-2) experiences an increased chemical shift and unique quadrupolar parameters relative to the BAS in both dehydrated and hydrated states. These new experimental data, supported by computational and catalytic reaction work, indicate that the second site arises from partially bonded framework (SiO)4-n-Al(OH)n species that significantly increase catalyst reactivity in benzene hydride-transfer and n-hexane cracking reactions. Al(IV)-2 sites result either from framework crystallization defects or from incomplete postsynthetic hydrolysis of a framework Al, prior to the formation of extraframework Al. Populations of this second acidic proton site created by the Al(IV)-2 species are shown to be controlled via postsynthetic catalyst treatments, should be general to different catalyst structures, and significantly enhance catalyst reactivity in the cited probe reactions when they are present. The dimer's mode of action was then extended from simple binding to direct cleavage by conjugation to bleomycin A5 in a manner that imparts RNA-selective cleavage or to indirect cleavage by recruiting an endogenous nuclease, or a ribonuclease targeting chimera (RIBOTAC).
