  • The Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) is a globally dispersed pathogen involved in several human cancers of B-cell and non-B-cell origin. EBV has been classified into EBV-1 and EBV-2, which have differences in their transformative ability. EBV-1 can transform B-cells into LCL more efficiently than EBV-2, and EBV-2 preferentially infects T-cell lymphocytes. The EBNA3A oncoprotein is a transcriptional regulator of virus and host cell genes, and is required in order to transform B-cells. EBNA3A has six peptide motifs called nuclear localization signals (NLSs) that ensure nucleocytoplasmic protein trafficking. The presence of multiple NLSs has been suggested to enhance EBNA3 function or different specificities in different cell types. However, studies about the NLS variability associated with EBV types are scarce. Based on a systematic sequence analysis considering more than a thousand EBNA3A sequences of EBV from different human clinical manifestations and geographic locations, we found differences in NLSs' nucleotide structures among EBV types. Compared with the EBNA3A EBV-1, EBNA3A EBV-2 has two of the six NLSs altered, and these mutations were possibly acquired by recombination. Data on 22,683 litters were used to analyse the lifetime reproductive performance of 5623 Polish Large White sows. The sows from small litters (≤9) were on average the oldest at first farrowing, had the shortest herd life, the smallest number of litters, and the smallest sized litters (p ≤ 0.01). A positive relationship was established between the mean number of offspring born per litter and size of the litter in which the sow was born (p ≤ 0.01). For a sow to produce at least seven piglets per 100 days of reproduction, gilts from litters of at least 12 piglets should be selected for breeding.Smoking is mainly used to impart desirable flavour, colour and texture to the products. Various food smoking methods can be divided into traditional and industrial methods. The influences of three different smoking methods, including traditional smouldering smoke (TSS), industrial smouldering smoke (ISS) and industrial liquid smoke (ILS), on quality characteristics, sensory attributes and flavour profiles of Harbin red sausages were studied. The smoking methods had significant effects on the moisture content (55.74-61.72 g/100 g), L*-value (53.85-57.61), a*-value (11.97-13.15), b*-value (12.19-12.92), hardness (24.25-29.17 N) and chewiness (13.42-17.32). A total of 86 volatile compounds were identified by headspace solid phase microextraction combined with comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatography mass spectrometry (GC × GC-qMS). Among them, phenolic compounds were the most abundant compounds in the all sausages. Compared with sausages smoked with smouldering smoke, the ILS sausages showed the highest content of volatile compounds, especially phenols, alcohols, aldehydes and ketones.

  • Chiari malformation type 1 (CM-1) is a congenital neurologic condition in which the cerebellar tonsils herniate below the foramen magnum, resulting in symptoms such as headache and neck pain. Two common surgical treatment approaches are posterior fossa decompression with (PFDD) and without duraplasty (PFD). Previous single-center studies have demonstrated increased neurologic complications after PFDD compared to PFD. The goal of this study is to determine differences in inpatient complications and hospitalization data among patients treated with these surgical techniques using a nationwide sample.

    The National Inpatient Sample (NIS) was queried for years 2012-2015 for all patients with a primary diagnosis of CM-1 who underwent PFD or PFDD. Differences in baseline demographics and comorbidities were accounted for in subsequent analysis using propensity score matching. Hospitalization measures and inpatient complications of the two cohorts were compared using Chi-squared tests and t-tests when appropriate.

    A total of 2395 patients with CM-1 were included in this study, with 750 (31.3%) undergoing PFD and 1645 (68.7%) undergoing PFDD. PFDD was associated with higher total hospital costs than PFD. There were no significant differences in other hospitalization or discharge data, non-neurologic complications, or CNS complications (CSF leak, pseudomeningocele, abscess, meningitis, stroke) between the two surgical groups.

    This study represents the largest national analysis to date of adult CM-1 patients undergoing PFD or PFDD. Our findings suggest that whether the decision is made to perform the less invasive PFD or more invasive PFDD, inpatient complications and hospitalization data will not significantly differ.

    Limited data exists on the long-term effects of aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) on spatial memory. Herein, we used a computerized virtual water maze to evaluate the feasibility of spatial memory testing in pilot cohort of ten patients who survived previous SAH.

    Ten SAH survivors (5.8±5.1 years after initial hemorrhage) and 7 age-matched controls underwent testing in a virtual water maze computer program. Additional subgroup analyses were performed to evaluate spatial reference memory correlation for ventricular size on admission, placement of an external ventricular drain and placement of a shunt.

    With respect to the spatial memory acquisition phase, there was no significant difference of pathway length traveled to reach the platform between SAH survivors and control subjects.     76 patients with histologically proven malignant biliary stenosis have been enrolled in a prospective, randomized study. In control arm, 40 patients underwent self-expandable metal stent insertion. In experimental arm, the endoluminal ablation with a bipolar radiofrequency catheter was performed immediately before stent insertion. A subgroup analysis of cholangiocarcinoma was performed (22 vs 21 patients). The objective of the study was to determine the rate of complications, duration of the stent patency and the survival of patients (Kaplan-Meier analysis).

    No major complications related to the stent insertion and the endoluminal ablation were found. The mean primary stent patency was 5.2 (95% CI 0.7-12.8) vs 4.8months (95% CI 0.8-18.2) months (p=0.79) in control and experimental group, respectively, in the subgroup analysis with cholangiocarcinoma 4.5 (95% CI 0.8-10.3) and 9.6 (95% CI 5.2-11.2) months (p=0.029). The median survival since the insertion of the stent was 6.8 (95%CI 3.0-10.6) vs 5.2 (95%CI 2.4-7.9) months (p=0.495) and since the initial drainage 9.8 (95%CI 6.9-12.7) vs 9.1 (95%CI 5.4-12.7) months (p=0.720) in the control and experimental arm.

    An acute anxiolytic-like effect of atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP) has been demonstrated in several preclinical and clinical studies. In a so far singular study (Herrmann-Lingen et al., 2003), patients with congestive heart failure, who pathognomonicly display increased plasma ANP, showed a significant inverse association of anxiety symptoms and pro-ANP levels, giving rise to speculations about ANP as an endogenous anxiolytic. We tried to replicate and extend this preliminary finding.

    In 56 patients suffering from heart failure with reduced left ventricular ejection fraction we measured ANP, mid-regional pro-ANP (MR-proANP) and cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP) as plasma parameters of ANP functioning and characterized anxiety symptoms using the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS) and in addition the State Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI) for state anxiety. Spearman rank correlation coefficients were calculated.

    None of our plasma ANP parameters showed a significant association with anxiety symptoms as per HADS ratings.

  • Over the course of medical school, students' optimism and hopefulness often devolve into a cynical view of medicine that continues throughout clinical rotations and beyond (Neumann et al., Acad Med 86(8)996-1009, 2011). Here, we present a qualitative evaluation of a novel immersive elective in pediatric psycho-oncology coupled with narrative medicine and its impact on students. Participants were third- and fourth-year medical students who were relieved of traditional clinical duties. Alternatively, they shadowed pediatric cancer patients, keeping narrative journals of their observations and insights. A trained team of pre-clinical medical students and faculty conducted a retrospective analysis of 120 journals written between 2008 and 2019. They compared recurring concepts to assess how blending experiential learning and reflective writing influenced the attitudes and behaviors of students. Consistent themes emerged related to developing a rich understanding of patient experiences, a humanistic appreciation of the context of illness, the ability to meaningfully reflect on insights to critically ill children, and an appreciation for the unique learning opportunity. Additionally, families expressed gratitude for the students' attentiveness to their emotional needs. By the conclusion of the elective, most students discovered that they had reignited their intrinsic empathic behaviors and were provided with beneficial insights that they believed would continue into future rotations. Experiential teaching methods paired with narrative reflection may be a valuable and therapeutic tool to learn the intricacies of the patient perspective, with the potential to enhance humanism in students during a critical time in their medical training when empathy tends to drift. There were 321 biopsies from 296 patients and approximately half of the cases (159/321, 49.5%) were reactive keratoses. The rest of the 162 biopsies from 149 patients (76 females; 51.0%) represented true leukoaplakias. The most common location was the gingiva (73.2%) followed by the palatal mucosa (17.0%). Hyperkeratosis/parakeratosis not reactive (HkNR) represented 43.8% of cases; 45.7% were dysplasia or carcinoma, and the rest were not readily classifiable as reactive or non-reactive keratoses. Histopathologic features commonly noted in the HkNR lesions include sharp demarcation (72.7%), corrugated surface (53.5%), and epithelial atrophy (48.1%). A lymphocytic band was noted in 8.5% of the cases, mostly associated with epithelial atrophy (5/6 cases). Seven patients with 17 biopsies from noncontiguous sites likely had proliferative leukoplakia; the most common location was the gingiva (88.2%) and the most common diagnosis was HkNR (52.9%).     Over the course of medical school, students' optimism and hopefulness often devolve into a cynical view of medicine that continues throughout clinical rotations and beyond (Neumann et al., Acad Med 86(8)996-1009, 2011). Here, we present a qualitative evaluation of a novel immersive elective in pediatric psycho-oncology coupled with narrative medicine and its impact on students. Participants were third- and fourth-year medical students who were relieved of traditional clinical duties. Alternatively, they shadowed pediatric cancer patients, keeping narrative journals of their observations and insights. A trained team of pre-clinical medical students and faculty conducted a retrospective analysis of 120 journals written between 2008 and 2019. They compared recurring concepts to assess how blending experiential learning and reflective writing influenced the attitudes and behaviors of students. Consistent themes emerged related to developing a rich understanding of patient experiences, a humanistic appreciation of the context of illness, the ability to meaningfully reflect on insights to critically ill children, and an appreciation for the unique learning opportunity. Additionally, families expressed gratitude for the students' attentiveness to their emotional needs. By the conclusion of the elective, most students discovered that they had reignited their intrinsic empathic behaviors and were provided with beneficial insights that they believed would continue into future rotations.     In order to enhance the practicability of the application of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) in the diagnosis of femoral head necrosis, combined with the convolutional neural network (CNN), we propose an automatic identification of femoral head necrosis model based on the ResNet18 network.

    In order to verify that MRI has a higher detection rate for early femoral head necrosis, we collected 360 cases of femoral MRI and the same number of femoral CT. Combining this method with ResNet18, AlexNet, and VGG16, compare the clinical staging and typical signs of femoral head necrosis with 8 diagnostic methods.

  • Podcasting has become a popular medium for medical education content. https://www.selleckchem.com/ Educators and trainees of all levels are turning to podcasts for high-quality, asynchronous content. Although numerous medical education podcasts have emerged in recent years, few student-run podcasts exist. Student-run podcasts are a novel approach to supporting medical students. Near-peer mentoring has been shown to promote medical students' personal and professional identity formation. Student-run podcasts offer a new medium for delivering near-peer advice to medical students in an enduring and accessible manner.

    This paper describes the creation of the UnsCripted Medicine Podcast-a student-run medical education podcast produced at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine.

    The planning and preparatory phases spanned 6 months. Defining a target audience and establishing a podcast mission were key first steps. Efforts were directed toward securing funding; obtaining necessary equipment; and navigating the technical considerat and practice.
    There were 2 major incentives introduced by the Chinese government to promote medical informatics in 2009 and 2016. As new drugs are the major source of medical innovation, informatics-related concepts and techniques are a major source of digital medical innovation. However, it is unclear whether the research efforts of medical informatics in China have met the health needs, such as disease management and population health.

    We proposed an approach to mapping the interplay between different knowledge entities by using the tree structure of Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) to gain insights into the interactions between informatics supply, health demand, and technological applications in digital medical innovation in China.

    All terms under the MeSH tree parent node "Diseases [C]" or node "Health [N01.400]" or "Public Health [N06.850]" were labelled as H. All terms under the node "Information Science [L]" were labelled as I, and all terms under node "Analytical, Diagnostic and Therapeutic Techniques, and Equth informatics (eg, diagnosis, therapeutics, surgical procedures, laboratory testing techniques, and equipment and supplies) should be strengthened. Research on natural language processing and electronic health records should also be strengthened to improve the real-world applications of health information technologies and big data in the future.
    It is suggested that technological transfers, namely the functionality to be realized by medical/health informatics (eg, diagnosis, therapeutics, surgical procedures, laboratory testing techniques, and equipment and supplies) should be strengthened.     This study aims to assess whether web-based searches on common cold would correlate with and help to predict asthma hospitalizations.

    We analyzed all hospitalizations with a main diagnosis of asthma occurring in 5 different countries (Portugal, Spain, Finland, Norway, and Brazil) for a period of approximately 5 years (January 1, 2012-December 17, 2016). Data on web-based searches on common cold were retrieved from Google Trends (GT) using the pseudo-influenza syndrome topic and local language search terms for common cold for the same countries and periods. We applied time series analysis methods to estimate the correlation between GT and hospitalization data. In addition, we built autoregressive models to forecast the weekly number of asthma hospitalizations for a period of 1 year (June 2015-June 2016) based on admissions and GT data from the 3 previous years.

    In time series analyses, GT data on common cold displayed strong correlations with asthma hospitalizations occurring in Portugal (correlation coefficients ranging from 0.63 to 0.73), Spain (ρ=0.82-0.84), and Brazil (ρ=0.77-0.83) and moderate correlations with those occurring in Norway (ρ=0.32-0.35) and Finland (ρ=0.44-0.47). Similar patterns were observed in the correlation between forecasted and observed asthma hospitalizations from June 2015 to June 2016, with the number of forecasted hospitalizations differing on average between 12% (Spain) and 33% (Norway) from observed hospitalizations.

The sharing economy provides one method to address the imbalance between the demand and supply of health services to the older adult population. With a substantial aging population, China's practices in the sharing aging industry may set examples for other "getting old before getting rich" countries.

    There is a gap in both the data and research on China's aging industry sharing economy. This paper addresses these data and research lacunae by constructing a framework for the application of a sharing model in China's aging industry, by assessing the current state of the aging industry sharing economy, by setting out the challenges to the sharing aging health care and service economy, and by making recommendations for the development of the aging industry sharing economy.

  • Disease burden prior to hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT) is difficult to assess in myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS), particularly in patients without excess blasts. We assessed whether morphologic dysplasia at the time of transplant can be a metric of disease burden that is associated with post-transplant outcomes in MDS patients. We identified 84 MDS patients undergoing allogeneic HCT at our institution between 2010 and 2017 who received a bone marrow evaluation immediately prior to HCT. Dysplasia was independently determined by two hematopathologists blinded to existing pathology reports. Erythroid nuclear dysplasia, but not megakaryocytic or myeloid, was associated with post-HCT outcomes. Presence compared to absence of erythroid nuclear dysplasia was associated with lower 2-year progression-free survival (PFS; 34 % vs 62 %, p = 0.0495) and 2-year overall survival (OS; 34 % vs 62 %, p = 0.042). In a multivariate analysis including age, IPSS-R at the time of transplant, pre-HCT therapy, and donor type as covariates, erythroid nuclear dysplasia remained associated with lower PFS (HR 2.6, p = 0.036) and OS (HR 2.7, p = 0.028). Dysplasia assessment prior to transplant may serve as an estimate of disease burden in MDS and identify high-risk patients who merit additional therapies pre- or post-transplant.Viral infections in the central nervous system (CNS) can lead to severe disease manifestations often mediated by a combination of viral cytopathic effects and immunopathology. Moreover, neuronal tissue and brain activities are highly sensitive to excessive inflammation that disturb homeostasis. Immune responses to virus infections in the CNS should therefore be tightly balanced and limited in magnitude and duration to avoid immunopathology and tissue damage. Recent data from genetic studies of patients with viral infections in the CNS as well as experimental cell and animal models have provided evidence of non-redundant roles for constitutive and latent immune mechanisms, which mediate a first line of antiviral control without significantly triggering inflammatory activities. Collectively, accumulating data suggest the existence of a layer of immune mechanisms in the CNS exerting immediate control of infection, hence buffering the need for activation of more potent immune reactions with inherent potential to induce immunopathology and disease.The relationship between externally measured and internal spine axial twist motion (rotation about a vertical axis) is not well understood. Ultrasound is a validated technique for measurement of vertebral axial twist motion and has the potential for measuring segmental vertebral axial twist in vivo. The objective of this study was to evaluate lumbar segmental axial twist in relation to external thoracopelvic twist from optical motion capture using an ultrasound imaging technique. Sixteen participants were tested in a custom-built axial twist jig, which isolated motion to the lumbar spine. Participants were moved from neutral to 75% of maximum axial twist range of motion in an upright kneeling posture. Thoracopelvic motion was recorded with a motion capture system and L1 to S1 vertebral axial twist was recorded using ultrasound. From motion capture, maximum thoracopelvic axial twist motion was 41.1 degrees. From ultrasound, the majority of axial twist motion occurred at the L2-L3 (46.8% of lumbar axial twist motion) and L5-S1 (33.5%) intervertebral joints. Linear regression linking axial twist at each vertebral level to thoracopelvic axial twist ranged from 0.43 to 0.79. These findings demonstrate a mathematical relationship between internal and external axial twist motion and the distribution of motion across the lumbar spine suggests that classic use of L4-L5 to represent lumbar spine motion may not be appropriate for axial twist modelling approaches.
    Histiocytic sarcoma (HS) is a rare, aggressive malignant neoplasm of hematopoietic cell origin. Primary HS of the proximal humerus, without involvement of lymph nodes or bone marrow, or systemic features, is very rare.

    We report a rare case of primary bony HS of the proximal humerus without bone marrow involvement in a healthy 33-year-old pregnant woman. She was successfully treated with surgical resection during pregnancy and radiotherapy post-delivery.

    This is the first report of a patient with primary bony HS during pregnancy. This highlights the fact that although HS is a neoplasm of hemolymphoid cell lineage, it frequently arises in non-lymphoid organs.

Cysts of the falciform ligament are rare and without an apparent cause. The range of the symptoms can vary from abdominal pain to asymptomatic patients. Cysts are treated surgically, and resection is used to make a definitive diagnosis. A 36-year-old female patient was treated at an outpatient facility for epigastric pain that lasted for three months. Abdominal MRI and MSCT were performed to verify a cyst formation in the left liver area of about 12cm in size. Laparoscopic resection of the cist was performed under general endotracheal anaesthesia. For every patient, two different radiation treatment plans were formulated and compared for the PTV coverage and doses to OARs, including heart, ipsilateral lung, spinal cord, and contralateral breast. The radiation treatment techniques utilized for th(8.85cGy), ipsilateral lung dose (V16- 19.82cGy), mean contralateral breast dose (4.59cGy), and maximum spinal cord dose (7.14cGy). Despite intubation, oxygenation continued to deteriorate and the patient was commenced on veno-venous extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) and transferred to the regional ECMO centre. Bronchoscopy revealed a plastic coil from an electronic cigarette at the entrance to the right lower lobe. Following its removal, the patient's condition rapidly improved and she was successfully weaned from ECMO and discharged from the cardiothoracic critical care unit. There are very few reports of tracheobronchial foreign body (FB) aspiration secondary to electronic cigarette use, and tracheobronchial FB aspiration in adults requiring veno-venous ECMO to treat respiratory failure is uncommon. We use fluorescence in situ hybridization and 16S rRNA gene sequencing to show that three distinct stages of biofilm development emerge naturally from microbial community composition and biofilm structure. Neutral modelling and network analysis are employed to elucidate the relative importance of stochastic versus deterministic processes and synergistic and antagonistic interactions in the biofilms during their development. We find that the different phases are characterized by a dynamic succession and an interplay of both stochastic and deterministic processes. The observed growth stages (Colonization, Succession and Maturation) appear to be the prerequisite for the anticipated growth of anammox bacteria and for reaching a biofilm community structure that supports the desired metabolic and functional capacities observed for biofilm carriers already present in the system (~100gNH4-N m3 d-1). We discuss the relevance of this improved understanding of anammox-community ecology and biofilm development in the context of its practical application in the start-up, configuration, and optimization of anammox biofilm reactors.The effect of mixing in the modelling of processes based on mass transfer phenomena is commonly ignored in wastewater treatment industry. In this contribution, the effect of the average shear rate in the nucleation and growth rates of struvite is analyzed by combining experimental data with simulation results obtained with a previously presented mass-based discretized population balance model. According to the obtained results, the effect of the average shear rate is identifiable for the selected data and mechanisms. Therefore, it should be considered when a detailed modelling of the process is needed. Consequently, in this contribution, the average shear rate has been decoupled from the kinetic constants. In addition, kinetic rates where it is explicitly included as a power law function have been proposed. The exponents in these power law functions for the primary homogeneous nucleation and growth are 1.3 and 0.3, respectively. Considering shear rate effects allowed to see in the simulation outputs experimentally observed effects a faster pH decay and smaller particle distribution for increasing mixing intensities.The reaction of hypochlorous acid (HOCl) with superoxide radical (O2•-) - a source of hydroxyl radical (HO•) and various reactive chlorine species (RCS) - was investigated as the basis for a novel non-photochemical advanced oxidation process (AOP). Moderately stable (t1/2 ~ minutes) aqueous O2•- stocks were prepared by several approaches at pH>12 and either (a) added directly to aqueous free available chlorine (FAC; i.e., HOCl/OCl-) at circumneutral pH, or (b) premixed with alkaline FAC and then acidified to pH 7, to degrade various organic probe compounds via in situ generated HO• and RCS. Radical production was optimal at [HO2•/O2•-]0/[FAC]0 ~ 2, with ~0.8 mol HO• formed/mol FAC consumed, and HO• and RCS exposures reaching ~5×10-10 and ~10-9 M×s, respectively. Similar trends were observed in natural waters and organic matter-amended phosphate buffer containing up to 5 ****L of dissolved organic carbon. Direct formation of oxyhalides, trihalomethanes (THMs), and haloacetic acids (HAAs), was minimal, though THM and HAA formation was moderately enhanced during post-chlorination of O2•-/FAC-treated solutions. In real life, since obstacles do not always take regular shapes like rectangles, the lead and trail limbs sometimes need to negotiate different obstacle heights. The interlimb interaction in this process has remained unknown, since obstacle crossing studies commonly use a single-obstacle paradigm in which the obstacle height is the same for the lead and trail limbs.

    We used a dual-obstacle paradigm to test whether the foot clearance over one obstacle was influenced by the contralateral obstacle's height.

    Sixteen healthy young male and female participants (age 22.5 ± 1.9 years) crossed over two obstacles placed side by side. Biochemical, cell count, and inflammation-related parameters were measured. Lung tissues were obtained for hematoxylin and eosin and Masson's trichrome staining. The expression levels of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), Janus tyrosine protein kinase-2 (JAK-2), and signal transducer and activator of transcription-3 (STAT-3) were detected by immunohistochemistry assays. Meanwhile, A549 cells were treated with the PM2.5. The cell cycle, and apoptosis were measured by flow cytometry. mRNA and protein expressions of JAK-2, STAT-3, p-STAT-3, and VEGFA were detected using qPCR and Western blot analysis respectively. Results of in vivo study showed that PM2.5 induced lung pathological injury, aggravated the accumulation of inflammatory cells, and increased the serum levels of inflammatory factors. In vitro experiments showed that PM2.5 disrupted the cell growth cycle and increased cell apoptosis through the activation of the JAK-2/STAT-3 signaling pathway.   • Melanocytic nevi have a complex evolution influenced by several endogenous and exogenous factors and are known risk factors for malignant melanoma. Interestingly, tobacco use seems to be inversely associated with melanoma risk. However, the association between tobacco use and nevi and lentigines has not yet been evaluated.

    We investigated the prevalence of nevi, atypical nevi, and lentigines in relation to tobacco smoking in a cohort of 59 smokers and 60 age- and sex-matched nonsmokers, using a questionnaire and performing a total body skin examination by experts.

    No significant differences were detected between smokers and nonsmokers in the numbers of nevi, atypical nevi, and lentigines in sun-exposed areas (p = 0.966, 0.326, and 0.241, respectively) and in non-sun-exposed areas (p = 0.095, 0.351, and 0.546, respectively).

This study aimed at comparative evaluation of growth and reproductive performance traits of sheep in the highland and lowland agro-ecologies of northwestern Ethiopia. Data on growth performance traits were collected from 144 Washera (78 males and 66 females) lambs and 72 Gumuz (37 males and 35 females) lambs. Data on reproductive performance traits were collected from 260 Washera (130 rams and 130 ewes) sheep and 150 Gumuz (75 rams and 75 ewes) sheep. General linear model univariate procedure was employed to analyze the collected data. Breed, the interaction effect between breed and season of birth as well as the interaction effect between breed and type of birth all exerted very high significant effect (P less then 0.001) on live weight at all age groups. Breed type affected pre-weaning average daily weight gain significantly (P less then 0.01). Pre-weaning average daily weight gain of Washera (70 g/day) was found **** better performance than 60 g/day of Gumuz. Breed type exerts significant (P less then 0.05) effect on age at first lambing, lambing interval, annual reproductive rate and number of lambs born per ewe life time. Specifically, small-scale spectral-power activations and suppressions involving only 2-7% (1-4 of 60) of EEG scalp sites were prolonged (relative to stochastic dynamics) and consistently co-localized in a frequency specific manner. For example, the small-scale networks for θ, α, β1, and β2 bands (4-30 Hz) consistently included frontal sites when the eyes were closed, whereas the small-scale network for γ band (31-55 Hz) consistently clustered in medial-central-posterior sites whether the eyes were open or closed.
