We aimed to explore the impact of 7-Fr sheaths on the incidence of early radial artery occlusion (RAO) after transradial coronary intervention (TRI) in Chinese patients.
RAO precludes future use of the vessel for vascular access. Transradial catheterization is usually performed via 5-Fr or 6-Fr catheters; 7-Fr sheath insertion enables complex coronary interventions but may increase the RAO risk.
We prospectively enrolled 130 consecutive patients undergoing complex TRI using 7-Fr sheaths. Radial artery ultrasound assessment was performed before and after TRI. Early RAO was defined as the absence of flow on ultrasound within 6-24 hr after TRI. Multivariate logistic regression was used to determine the factors related to early RAO after TRI.
7-Fr sheaths were mainly used for chronic total occlusion (44.6%), bifurcation (30.0%), and tortuous calcification (25.4%) lesions. All patients were successfully sheathed. Percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) procedural success was 96.2%; 119 patients (91.5%) had preserved radial artery patency after TRI. All 11 RAO cases (8.5%) were asymptomatic. The radial artery diameter was significantly larger postoperatively (3.1 ± 0.4 mm) than preoperatively (2.6 ± 0.5 mm) (p < .001). No parameters significantly differed between patients with and without RAO. TRI history was the only independent risk factor of early RAO (odds ratio 6.047, 95% confidence interval 1.100-33.253, p = .039).

Readiness for practice is an ongoing concern in surgery. Surgeons who have completed general surgery training are expected to be proficient in performing common emergency procedures. The aim of this study was to assess the experience and autonomy of general surgery trainees in New Zealand in 10 emergency general surgery procedures, and identify factors associated with reaching primary operator (PO) thresholds.
Operative logbook data from all New Zealand general surgery trainees from 2013 to 2017 were analysed. Data for 10 emergency general surgery procedures were extracted to determine PO and autonomous PO (mentor not scrubbed) rates. A threshold of 70% for PO and APO rates was used to define two levels of proficiency.

Obesity alters the pharmacokinetic (PK) properties of drugs making it difficult to determine the appropriate dose when administering weight-based medications. Alternative descriptors of body weight, such as lean body mass (LBM) and ideal body weight (IBW), are sometimes used in these situations.
We performed a single-centre, randomized, controlled, open-label, 3×3 crossover trial to determine whether recombinant factor VIII (rFVIII) dosing based on LBM and IBW achieves a targeted FVIII recovery with better precision than based on total body weight (TBW) in overweight and obese, adult males with haemophilia A. Participants were randomized to 1 of 6 possible FVIII concentrate dosing sequence scenarios (TBW, LBM and IBW). Recombinant FVIII was administered on 3 separate weeks following a washout period of at least 72hours.
A total of 19 participants were randomized and completed the study. FVIII recovery was lower at 30 minutes post-rFVIII infusion in LBM vs TBW and IBW vs TBW-based dosing, mean difference -0.38 (95% CI -0.56, -0.20) and -0.28 (95% CI -0.47, -0.10) IU/dL per IU/kg, respectively. In LBM vs TBW and IBW vs TBW-based dosing, there was a non-significant increase in the proportion of participants with a targeted FVIII recovery of 2.00±0.20IU/dl per IU/kg, OR=1.93 (95% CI 0.44, 8.55) and OR=3.65 (0.80, 16.72), respectively.
Based on our study's findings, overweight and obese patients with haemophilia A may benefit from an individualized PK analysis using LBM and IBW to determine the most accurate, and potentially cost-effective, method of achieving targeted FVIII recovery.

To investigate paediatric outpatients' nutritional status using bioelectrical impedance analysis and anthropometric z-scores.
A retrospective data analysis of tertiary paediatric hospital outpatients from 2017 to 2019 was conducted. Patients were categorised into three groups (non-illness, illness and simple obesity) according to clinical diagnoses. The nutritional status was evaluated using anthropometric and bioelectrical impedance analysis. In addition, body composition measurements of patients in three subgroups of the illness group and age- and gender-matched healthy controls were compared.
A total of 2015 paediatric outpatients were enrolled. According to body mass index z-scores, undernutrition prevalence among participants was 14.0% (non-illness group, 21.3%; illness group, 11.4%). Body composition measurements indicated that 41.6% of participants had a low fat-free mass index, and the proportions of participants with a low fat-free mass index in the non-illness, illness and simple obesity groups were 48.

Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is an aggressive malignancy of the bone marrow that has a poor prognosis with traditional cytotoxic chemotherapy, especially in elderly patients. In recent years, small molecule inhibitors targeting AML-associated IDH1, IDH2, and FLT3 mutations have been FDA approved. However, the majority of AML cases do not have a targetable mutation. A variety of novel agents targeting both previously untargetable mutations and general pathways in AML are currently being investigated. Herein, we review selected new targeted therapies currently in early-phase clinical investigation in AML.
The DOT1L inhibitor pinometostat in KMT2A-rearranged AML, the menin inhibitors KO-539 and SYNDX-5613 in KMT2Ar and NPM1-mutated AML, and the mutant TP53 inhibitor APR-246 are examples of novel agents targeting specific mutations in AML. Frequency and intensity of adverse events (AEs), their relationship to IgPro10 and AE rate per infusion (AERI) were evaluated. Of 11 enrolled patients, 10 completed the study. The median (range) total duration of exposure was 16.14 (4.1-16.3) weeks. Eight patients reported 19 AEs, none severe (based on maximum severity), giving an AERI of 0.442. One AE was deemed related to IgPro10 treatment. Three patients experienced temporally associated AEs. No serious AEs or deaths were reported. During the first cycle of R-CHOP, the incidence of febrile neutropenia was lower in the pegfilgrastim group than in the neut-adjusted-G group (0% vs. 18%, p = 0.020). Throughout all cycles, a higher proportion of patients exhibited sustained relative dose intensity (≥ 80%) in the pegfilgrastim group than in the neut-adjusted-G group (25% vs. 4.0%, p = 0.008). A lower proportion of patients received a reduced dose in the second cycle in the pegfilgrastim group than in the neut-adjusted-G group (0% vs. 10%, p = 0.116). Although the differences were not significant, the pegfilgrastim group showed higher progression-free survival and overall survival than the neut-adjusted-G group. Adequate prevention of febrile neutropenia using pegfilgrastim during the first cycle of R-CHOP may contribute to avoidance of dose intensity reduction in all cycles.
Intervention studies using New Zealand green-lipped or greenshell™ mussel (GSM) (Perna canaliculus) extract in osteoarthritis (OA) patients have shown effective pain relief. This systematic review summarises the efficacy of GSM extracts in the treatment of OA.
A literature search of the three databases EMBASE, MEDLINE, and Scopus was performed to identify relevant articles published up to March 2020. Inclusion criteria were clinical trials published in English measuring the effect of supplementation of whole or a lipid extract from GSM on pain and mobility outcomes in OA patients.
A total of nine clinical trials were included in systematic review, from which five studies were considered appropriate for inclusion in a forest plot. Pooled results showed that GSM extracts (lipid extract or whole powder) provide moderate and clinically significant treatment effects on a visual analogue scale (VAS) pain score (effect size -0.46; 95% CI -0.82 to -0.10; p = 0.01). The whole GSM extract improved gastrointestinal symptoms in OA patients taking anti-inflammatory medications.
Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is an aggressive malignancy of the bone marrow that has a poor prognosis with traditional cytotoxic chemotherapy, especially in elderly patients. In recent years, small molecule inhibitors targeting AML-associated IDH1, IDH2, and FLT3 mutations have been FDA approved. However, the majority of AML cases do not have a targetable mutation. A variety of novel agents targeting both previously untargetable mutations and general pathways in AML are currently being investigated. Herein, we review selected new targeted therapies currently in early-phase clinical investigation in AML. The DOT1L inhibitor pinometostat in KMT2A-rearranged AML, the menin inhibitors KO-539 and SYNDX-5613 in KMT2Ar and NPM1-mutated AML, and the mutant TP53 inhibitor APR-246 are examples of novel agents targeting specific mutations in AML. This paper will review data showing how SARS-CoV-2 infection has differentially affected racial and ethnic minorities in the general population and those with rheumatic disease. We will also highlight disparities in rheumatic disease risk and severity that existed prior to the pandemic, and discuss recent work examining severe outcomes of COVID-19 in rheumatic disease patients by race and ethnicity. Finally, we propose several actionable steps for the rheumatology community to address COVID-19 health disparities, which may have long-term effects on patients with rheumatic disease.

Fragility hip fractures account for over 65,000 cases per year in the elderly population. The study aims to assess the impact of the pandemic on fragility hip fractures.
A retrospective data gather was performed to identify fragility hip fractures from the 23rd of March 2020 to the 13th of May 2020, and from the 23rd of March 2019 to the 13th of May 19. Two groups were formed and compared over their 30 day follow up.
The control group comprised of 97 patients, with a mean age of 82.1 years old (62-102 years) and MF ratio of 3859. The case group comprised of 102 patients, with a mean age of 82.3 years old (60-100 years) and a MF ratio of 1686. Significant differences between groups were identified for gender (p<0.001), time to theatre (p=0.002), length of stay (p<0.001) and COVID-19 status (p=0.001). In the Case group, association with mortality was found for male gender (p=0.041), right side (p=0.031) and COVID-19 positive test results (p=0.011).
Early surgical intervention is advocated wherever possible, and sufficient optimisation, prior to surgery whenever a COVID-19 positive patient is identified. A safe rehabilitation environment is paramount for recovery in this group of patients. Further studies are required to understand the effect of this pandemic on the fragility hip fractures.

Receiver operating characteristic curves are needed to find optimal cut-offs to divide blood glucose levels associated with good from bad prognosis in AMI. There is a need for a consensus for pragmatic classification of first day glycemia in order to be useful in a busy ED and CCU.

However, the evidence is inconsistent from a biological point of view, so identifying predictors of LBP in the 6-12 years children through physical examination should be appropriate.

Descriptive analyses were performed, and simple and multiple logistic regression models were used for risk factors.
The prevalence of LBP was 27.32% (confidence interval [CI] 95%=23.07-32.03). The mean age was 8.85 years (± 1.83) in the group with LBP and 8 years (± 1.76) in the group without LBP (p=.006). Variables such as backpack weight (odds ratio [OR]=1.45, CI 95%=1.018-2.064) and exceeding 3 hours per day in front of the television (OR=7.97, CI 95%=1.957-32.515) increased the chance of LBP in these students.
LBP is prevalent in younger schoolchildren, and the factors associated with this outcome can be effectively addressed through the promotion of health measures. LBP in schoolchildren is a musculoskeletal discomfort that negatively affects the quality of life of these individuals and persists in adulthood.

We further explain how recent de-domestication studies have expanded our understanding of the complexity of crop evolution, and highlight the genetic novelties of de-domesticates beneficial for modern crop breeding.

The prevalence of LBP was 27.32% (confidence interval [CI] 95%=23.07-32.03). The mean age was 8.85 years (± 1.83) in the group with LBP and 8 years (± 1.76) in the group without LBP (p=.006). Variables such as backpack weight (odds ratio [OR]=1.45, CI 95%=1.018-2.064) and exceeding 3 hours per day in front of the television (OR=7.97, CI 95%=1.957-32.515) increased the chance of LBP in these students.

Coronavirus disease 2019 is a pandemic that forced a transformation in the services provided by the National Health Service in the United Kingdom. Fragility hip fractures account for over 65,000 cases per year in the elderly population. The study aims to assess the impact of the pandemic on fragility hip fractures. A retrospective data gather was performed to identify fragility hip fractures from the 23rd of March 2020 to the 13th of May 2020, and from the 23rd of March 2019 to the 13th of May 19. Two groups were formed and compared over their 30 day follow up. The control group comprised of 97 patients, with a mean age of 82.1 years old (62-102 years) and MF ratio of 3859. The case group comprised of 102 patients, with a mean age of 82.3 years old (60-100 years) and a MF ratio of 1686. Significant differences between groups were identified for gender (p<0.001), time to theatre (p=0.002), length of stay (p<0.001) and COVID-19 status (p=0.001). In the Case group, association with mortality was found for male gender (p=0.041), right side (p=0.031) and COVID-19 positive test results (p=0.011). Hydroxyapatite (HA) is a representative substance that induces bone regeneration. Our research team extracted nanohydroxyapatite (EH) from natural resources, especially equine bones, and developed it as a molecular biological tool. Polyethylenimine (PEI) was used to coat the EH to develop a gene carrier. To verify that PEI is well coated in the EH, we first observed the morphology and dispersity of PEI-coated EH (pEH) by electron microscopy. The pEH particles were well distributed, while only the EH particles were not distributed and aggregated. Then, the existence of nitrogen elements of PEI on the surface of the pEH was confirmed by EDS, calcium concentration measurement and fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR). Additionally, the pEH was confirmed to have a more positive charge than the 25 kD PEI by comparing the zeta potentials. As a result of pGL3 transfection, pEH was better able to transport genes to cells than 25 kD PEI. After verification as a gene carrier for pEH, we induced osteogenic differentiation of DPSCs by loading the BMP-2 gene in pEH (BMP-2/pEH) and delivering it to the cells. As a result, it was confirmed that osteogenic differentiation was promoted by showing that the expression of osteopontin (OPN), osteocalcin (OCN), and runt-related transcription factor 2 (RUNX2) was significantly increased in the group treated with BMP-2/pEH. In conclusion, we have not only developed a novel nonviral gene carrier that is better performing and less toxic than 25 kD PEI by modifying natural HA (the agricultural byproduct) but also proved that bone differentiation can be effectively promoted by delivering BMP-2 with pEH to stem cells.Titanium (Ti) has been the most widely used orthopedic implant in the past decades. Both films worked as Mg ions releasing platforms. With the gradual degradation of Mg(OH)2 films, weakly alkaline microenvironments will be established surrounding the modified implants. Benefiting from the sustained release of Mg ions, nanostructures, and weakly alkaline microenvironments, the as-prepared nano-Mg(OH)2 coated Ti showed better in vitro and in vivo osteogenesis. Notably, Ti-M2# showed better osteogenesis than Ti-M1#, which can be ascribed to its smaller nanostructure. Moreover, whole genome expression analysis was applied to study the osteogenic mechanism of nano-Mg(OH)2 films. For both coated samples, most of the genes related to ECM-receptor interaction, focal adhesion, and TGF-β pathways were upregulated, indicating that these signaling pathways were activated, leading to better osteogenesis. Positive influences of family members have been associated with a high probability of children's daily breakfast consumption. Therefore, the aim of this study was to scrutinize the association of breakfast routines between mothers and their children. The baseline data of the Feel4Diabetes-study was obtained in 9760 children (49.05% boys)-mother pairs in six European countries. A parental self-reported questionnaire gauging the frequency of breakfast consumption and of breakfast´ foods and beverages consumption was used. Agreement in routines of mothers and their children's breakfast consumption was analyzed in sex-specific crosstabs. The relationship of breakfast routine and food groups' consumption between mothers and their children was assessed with analysis of covariance. https://www.selleckchem.com/products/ipa-3.html The highest proportion of children who always consumed breakfast were those whose mothers always consumed it. A PDMS microfluidic device was designed and fabricated to incorporate droplet-based flow. Droplet microfluidics have enabled on-chip fluorescent tagging reactions to be performed quickly and efficiently, with no additional sample handling. An optimized LIF optical detection system provided fluorescently tagged primary fatty acid amine detection at sub-fmol levels (436 amol). The use of this LIF detection provides unparalleled sensitivity, with detection limits several orders of magnitude lower than currently employed LC-MS techniques, and might be easily adapted for use as a complementary quantification platform for parallel MS-based omics studies.
Positive influences of family members have been associated with a high probability of children's daily breakfast consumption. Therefore, the aim of this study was to scrutinize the association of breakfast routines between mothers and their children. The baseline data of the Feel4Diabetes-study was obtained in 9760 children (49.05% boys)-mother pairs in six European countries. A parental self-reported questionnaire gauging the frequency of breakfast consumption and of breakfast´ foods and beverages consumption was used. Agreement in routines of mothers and their children's breakfast consumption was analyzed in sex-specific crosstabs. We found intense PON1 and PON3-positive staining in star-shaped cells surrounding Aβ plaques in all the studied Tg2576 mouse-brain regions. Although we could not colocalize PON1 and PON3 with astrocytes (star-shaped cells in the brain), we found some PON3 colocalization with microglia. Arterial blood pressure (systolic - SBP, diastolic - DBP) and heart rate (HR) were monitored continuously using a telemetry system (Data Science International), and Mean Arterial Pressure (MAP) was calculated from SBP and DBP.

Intestinal parasitosis (IP), a group of diseases caused by one or more species of protozoa and helminths, is still considered a neglected tropical disease and a public health concern in India. Poor sanitation and unhygienic conditions largely contribute to sustained transmission, primarily among children, adversely affecting health and development. The problem needs area-specific assessment and interventions.
The present study aimed at determining the prevalence of IP and its correlates among under-five children in a rural community of Purba Bardhaman district, West Bengal, India.
A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted in Bhatar Block of Purba Bardhaman district.
Mothers/caregivers of 294 under-five children (selected through multistage sampling) were interviewed for background characteristics at the household level, and stool samples from each child were collected, transported, and examined for ova/parasite/cysts following standard guidelines.
Statistical analysis of the data obtained was done using SPSS (V20).

Under nutrition is a major problem among Indian schoolchildren. Yet, routine height and weight measurements in schools are nor used for growth monitoring. This study attempts to evaluate mid-upper-arm-circumference (MUAC) as a quick assessment tool against body mass index (BMI) in schoolchildren.
The objective of the study was to evaluate MUAC against BMI, height, and average skin fold thickness (ASFT) parameters and to estimate MUAC values across age, sex, and social categories.
The study was conducted in 2017-2018 in four randomly selected Ashram schools and an urban school in Nashik district. Girls (1187) and boys (1083) from age 6-18 were included, and height, weight, skinfold thickness, and MUAC were measured. MUAC was done on the left arm with Shakir's tape and tailor's tape (for MUAC >25 cm). Epi Info 7.1 and Excel were used for the data analysis.
MUAC had a consistently high correlation with BMI at all ages for boys (
= 0.8786,
< 0.0001) and girls (
= 0.8586,
< 0.0001). ASFT too was strongly correlated with MUAC (

< 0.0001). MUAC had strong but nonlinear correlation with heights in girls (

The purpose of the study is to determine the effect of seasonal variations on the infant mortality in some selected districts of Jammu Division, J&K.
In the present study, infant mortality data were collected for the 6 consecutive years (2013-2018) from different health centers of four districts of Jammu Division and Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), J&K. The seasonal variations of overall infant deaths were analyzed using the monthly mortality data collected for the study period. Poisson regression model was employed to measure the seasonal effects on the overall infant deaths. Data analysis was done using software IBM SPSS 24.0.
In this study, a total of 4443 infant deaths were recorded from selected districts of Jammu Division, J&K, from the year 2013-2018. The prevalence of infant deaths was extremely high in the month of January as compared to the reference month June. Furthermore, the parameter estimates for each of the months along with 95% Wald confidence interval were calculated.
The present study concludes that seasonal variations significantly affect the infant mortality in Jammu Division, J&K, India. The policymakers must consider the effect of seasons on infant mortality as children in their 1
year of life are more susceptible toward environmental conditions.

The problem needs area-specific assessment and interventions. The present study aimed at determining the prevalence of IP and its correlates among under-five children in a rural community of Purba Bardhaman district, West Bengal, India. A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted in Bhatar Block of Purba Bardhaman district. Mothers/caregivers of 294 under-five children (selected through multistage sampling) were interviewed for background characteristics at the household level, and stool samples from each child were collected, transported, and examined for ova/parasite/cysts following standard guidelines. The objective of the study was to evaluate MUAC against BMI, height, and average skin fold thickness (ASFT) parameters and to estimate MUAC values across age, sex, and social categories. The study was conducted in 2017-2018 in four randomly selected Ashram schools and an urban school in Nashik district. Girls (1187) and boys (1083) from age 6-18 were included, and height, weight, skinfold thickness, and MUAC were measured. MUAC was done on the left arm with Shakir's tape and tailor's tape (for MUAC >25 cm). Epi Info 7.1 and Excel were used for the data analysis. MUAC had a consistently high correlation with BMI at all ages for boys ( = 0.8786, < 0.0001) and girls ( = 0.8586, < 0.0001). ASFT too was strongly correlated with MUAC ( = 0.5945, < 0.0001). The seasonal variations of overall infant deaths were analyzed using the monthly mortality data collected for the study period. Poisson regression model was employed to measure the seasonal effects on the overall infant deaths. Data analysis was done using software IBM SPSS 24.0. In this study, a total of 4443 infant deaths were recorded from selected districts of Jammu Division, J&K, from the year 2013-2018. The prevalence of infant deaths was extremely high in the month of January as compared to the reference month June. Furthermore, the parameter estimates for each of the months along with 95% Wald confidence interval were calculated. Results A decrease in AHI for all the patients with different severities of OSA tested in this study was achieved, with 66.3% average improvement (32-100%). Fifty percent or more improvement was achieved in 78% (21) of all patients. Conclusions Based on our observations, the NightLase® LAUP treatment of OSA represents an effective and safe therapeutic method. Further research and longer term prospective trials are needed to improve the evidence base for the potential integration of this treatment method into the current guidelines for treatment of OSA.

In the past, myoblast quiescence has been induced using suspension culture (SuCu) and, recently, by knockout serum replacement (KOSR)-supplemented culture media. We assessed the proportion of cells in G0 and molecular regulators after combining the two quiescence-inducing approaches. Quiescence was induced in primary human myoblasts (PHMs) in vitro using KOSR-treatment for 10 days or suspension in vie. We suggest that this blended new protocol can be considered in future biomedical research if differentiation is detected too early during myoblast expansion. This shall also inform new ways to bridge the in vitro and in vivo divides in regenerative medicine research.Objectives To compare the effect of two different humpectomy techniques in the internal nasal valve (INV) angle in human anatomic specimens. Methods Seven human anatomic specimens (14 heminoses) were included. A strip of subdorsal septal cartilage was removed and, in each nose, the right side of the middle roof lied intact over and was sutured to the septal cartilage (spare roof technique [SRT]), whereas in the left side the upper lateral cartilage was folded and sutured to the septal cartilage (component dorsal hump reduction [CDHR]). The INV angle was measured pre- and postoperatively. Results Mean age of the specimens was 69.86 (60-80) years. Five were female. CDHR resulted in a mean change of +1.71 ± 3.12° (p = 0.197), +0.62 ± 6.89° (p = 0.817) and +6.97 ± 6.84° (p = 0.036) after resection of 2, 4, and 6 mm of septal cartilage, respectively. SRT resulted in a mean change of +1.27 ± 2.37° (p = 0.207), +6.89 ± 1.19° (p less then 0.001), and +12.55 ± 1.79° (p less then 0.001) after resection of 2, 4, and 6 mm of septal cartilage, respectively. In SRT, the amount of septal cartilage resection presented a significant correlation with change in INV angle (r = 0.813, p less then 0.001). Conclusions In this human anatomic study, SRT significantly increased INV angle.

The degree of orientation of the cellulose chains decreased along the ion diffusion direction, and the birefringence of the highly oriented area was up to 1.323×10-4. Importantly, we first propose and demonstrate the presence of sensitive region in the gradient anisotropy hydrogel. The sensitive region located in the order-disorder transition displayed large color variation with the optical path difference (R) range from 155 nm to 1200 nm, high sensitivity (1 % strain interval), low detection (minimum 1 % strain), good cycling ability of 50 times and frost resistance at -20℃. Based on this, the readable response colorimetric card was designed for micro-strain detection. The programmable Ca2+ diffusion design made it convenient to fabricate cylindrical and tubular hydrogels. This concept of sensitive region and this flexible strategy will broaden new horizons to materials that have excellent responsive properties for optical applications, sensors and multiscale bionics architectures.An environmental benign in-situ formation and growth of gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) on TEMPO-oxidized cellulose nanofibrils (TOCNF) is reported here. With the active functional groups (aldehyde and carboxyl), TOCNF served as a synchronized reducing and supporting agent for the formation of AuNPs. The entire synthesis process was completed within 30 s under microwave irradiation and regarded as ultra-fast. As obtained AuNPs@TOCNF nanohybrid suspension was freeze-dried to form strong water-activated shape recovery 3D foam. Internal morphology and porosity of the foam were studied by SEM and BET. AuNPs@TOCNF foams exhibited excellent catalytic activity for the discoloration of cationic and anionic dyes in batch and dynamic column processes. The spent foams can be easily recovered and reused up to five cycles with more than 98 % efficiency. During the catalytic processes, no obvious deterioration of the foam structure was observed. Practical applicability of the nanocatalyst was evaluated by treating spiked sea water sample.Osteoarthritis (OA) is the most prevalent articular chronic disease. By an in vitro experimental approach in chondrocytes and fibroblast-like synoviocytes, we observed that chemical composition of fucoidan, and specifically the phlorotannin content and the ratio sulfatefucose, seems critically relevant for its biological activity. Nonetheless, other factors like concentration and molecular weight of the fucoidan may influence on its beneficial effects. Additionally, a cell-type dependent response was also detected. Herein, a sustainable approach utilizing the agricultural waste biomass-Juncus effusus (JE) to synthesize magnetic cellulose JE powders (M-JEPs) has been proposed for purification of dye-contaminated EtOH-H2O mixture. Batch experiments and physical-chemical analyses were performed to explore the adsorption performance and mechanism.
