The spatial distribution clearly shows that the cases were rapidly spreading from the southern part of the country where most points of entry and exit from India are located. To contain the spread of the virus, the government has also initiated various preventive measures and strategies during the lockdown. The Government of Nepal needs to allocate more resources, increase its capacity to test and trace, establish dedicated isolation and quarantine facility and impose local restrictions such as a local lockdown based on risk assessment rather than a nationwide lockdown.This paper describes a framework used to understand public health entrepreneurship and intrapreneurship for the purpose of pedagogy and practice. To ground this framework in the academic literature, a scoping review of the literature was conducted with application of a snowball method to identify further articles from the bibliographies of the search results. Recurring themes were identified to characterize common patterns of public health entrepreneurship and intrapreneurship. These themes were design thinking, resource mobilization, financial viability, cross-disciplinary collaboration, and systems strengthening. Case examples are provided to illustrate key themes in both intrapreneurship and entrepreneurship. This framework is a starting point to further the discourse, teaching, and practice of entrepreneurship and intrapreneurship in public health. More research is needed to understand implications for power and privilege, capacity building, financing, scaling, and policy making related to entrepreneurship and intrapreneurship in public health.Older individuals are at an increased risk of experiencing adverse social and health consequences due to both the COVID-19 pandemic and the measures taken to manage it, such as social distancing. To promote community-dwelling older individuals' well-being during this time, the aims of the current project are to develop effective strategies in order (a) to increase older individuals' digital literacy, and (b) to help them acquire behavioral and cognitive skills that will improve their coping abilities with the stressful situation created as a result of the pandemic, as well as reducing adverse mental health effects. However, it is applicable regardless of the outbreak of a global health crisis or the imposition of lockdown rules; in fact, it has the potential to contribute to the social inclusion of vulnerable populations during routine times as well as during emergencies. Furthermore, ideas for future expansion include the integration of multilingual facilitators in order to reach seniors from underserved minority groups in various social contexts, even across borders.This paper assessed the transition probabilities between the stages of hypertension severity and the length of time an individual might spend at a particular disease state using the new American College of Cardiology/American Heart Association hypertension blood pressure guidelines. Data for this study were drawn from the Ghana WHO SAGE longitudinal study, with an analytical sample of 1884 across two waves. Using a multistate Markov model, we estimated a seven-year transition probability between normal/elevated blood pressure (systolic ≤ 129 mm Hg & diastolic less then 80 mm Hg), stage 1 (systolic 130-139 mm Hg & diastolic 80-89 mm Hg), and stage 2 (systolic ≥140mm Hg & diastolic≥90 mm Hg) hypertension and adjusted for the individual effects of anthropometric, lifestyle, and socio-demographic factors. At baseline, 22.5% had stage 1 hypertension and 52.2% had stage 2 hypertension. The estimated seven-year transition probability for the general population was 19.0% (95% CI 16.4, 21.8) from normal/elevated blood pressure to stage 1 hypertension, 31.6% (95% CI 27.6, 35.4%) from stage 1 hypertension to stage 2 hypertension, and 48.5% (45.6, 52.1%) for remaining at stage 2. Other factors such as being overweight, obese, female, aged 60+ years, urban residence, low education and high income were associated with an increased probability of remaining at stage 2 hypertension. However, consumption of recommended servings of fruits and vegetables per day was associated with a delay in the onset of stage 1 hypertension and a recovery to normal/elevated blood pressure. This is the first study to show estimated transition probabilities between the stages of hypertension severity across the lifespan in sub-Saharan Africa. The neonatal outcomes (low birth weight, prematurity, Apgar scores with 1 and 5 min, and neonatal death) of newborns of adolescents aged 10-13 years were compared to those of adolescents aged 14-15 years and 16-17 years. Incidence was calculated with 95% confidence intervals (CIs) and compared over time using a chi-squared test to observe trends. Poisson Multivariate logistic regression was used to adjust for confounding variables.

The demand for rapid column screening, computer-assisted method development and method transfer, and unambiguous compound identification by LC/MS analyses has pushed analysts to adopt experimental protocols and software for the accurate prediction of the retention time in liquid chromatography (LC). The measurement is achieved by employing DEP manipulation to micro polystyrene (PS) spheres suspended in a liquid electrolyte and determining the capacitance of EDL on the microelectrodes from the moving velocities of spheres. This method allows measurement of the capacitances of EDL under alternating current (AC) signals with different magnitudes and frequencies, so that the capacitance change with the magnitude and frequency of the applied signal can be characterized. The method avoids the impedance interference from the liquid electrolyte, external measuring systems, and other crosstalks, enabling an accurate measurement of double layer capacitance. In addition, the inner layer potentials across EDL under different magnitudes and frequencies of applied signals are comprehensively investigated, which facilitates an understanding of the ion behavior at the interfacial boundary that governs external observations of electrochemical reactions. The accurate measurement of the capacitance of EDL is of significance to explore the mechanism of interfacial functioning of electrochemical and bioelectrical devices and systems.
To compare the outcomes of intraocular lens (IOL) implantation using toric (T)-IOL and non-toric (N)-IOL in pediatric cataract patients with astigmatism, and to examine the effect of optic capture (OC) on the axis misalignment (AM) of the T-IOLs.

Interventional, comparative case study.
Consecutive pediatric patients implanted with T-IOLs or N-IOLs were retrospectively reviewed. In the T-IOL group, the preoperative and postoperative corrected distance visual acuity (CDVA) and AM were compared in patients with and without OC.
The T-IOL group included 14 eyes of 11 patients, while the N-IOL group included 22 eyes of 15 patients. One year after surgery, the mean ocular cylinder (1.38 ± 0.80 D) was significantly smaller than the average corneal cylinder (3.33 ± 1.24 D) in the T-IOL group (P = .00012, Wilcoxon signed-rank test). The mean preoperative and 1-year postoperative CDVA (logMAR) were 0.57/0.003 (T-IOL) and 0.71/0.09 (N-IOL), respectively. The AM at 1 week and 1 year after surgery was 2.6° ± 3.7° and 4.4° ± 3.1° for the OC group, and 13.3° ± 8.8° and 18.5° ± 14.8°, for the non-OC group, respectively. The AM was significantly smaller in the OC group than that in non-OC group (P = .009, Mann-Whitney U test) at postoperative 1 week.

The structure of the cocrystal of Ph3 P=S and 1,2-diiodotetrafluorobezene was determined, which demonstrates a similar chalcogen⋅⋅⋅iodine XB pattern to the previously reported isomorphic Ph3 P=Se structure. The cocrystalline structures resulting from the combination of 1,3-diiodotetrafluorobenzene (1,3-F4 DIB), as well as iodopentafluorobenzene, with all three triphenylphosphine chalcogenides, were also determined. The (Ph3 P=Se) ⋅ (1,3-F4 DIB) cocrystal presents a rare example of a selenium⋅⋅⋅organoiodine ChB. The observed ChB and XB interactions have normalized distance parameters (RXB ) ranging from 0.80 to 0.98. The strength of the XB and ChB interactions were analyzed using natural bond orbital (NBO) theory, with calculated energies falling between 3.14 kcal/mol and 12.81 kcal/mol.Computational approaches supporting the early characterization of fragment molecular recognition mechanism represent a valuable complement to more expansive and low-throughput experimental techniques. In this retrospective study, we have investigated the geometric accuracy with which high-throughput supervised molecular dynamics simulations (HT-SuMD) can anticipate the experimental bound state for a set of 23 fragments targeting the SARS-CoV-2 main protease. Despite the encouraging results herein reported, in line with those previously described for other MD-based posing approaches, a high number of incorrect binding modes still complicate HT-SuMD routine application. To overcome this limitation, fragment pose stability has been investigated and integrated as part of our in-silico pipeline, allowing us to prioritize only the more reliable predictions.

This hypothesis is based on growing evidence of the ability of SARS-CoV-2 to modulate oncogenic pathways, promote chronic low-grade inflammation, and cause tissue damage. Comprehensive studies are urgently required to elucidate the effects of long COVID-19 on cancer susceptibility.We replicated and extended studies showing that contextual cues for matching stimuli from 2 separate equivalence classes control the same derived relations as contextual cues for opposition frames in RFT studies. We conducted 2 experiments with 6 college students. In Phase 1, they received training in a conditional discrimination AB. Then, they received training for maintaining AB with X1 as context, and for reversing the sample-comparison relations of AB, with X2. In Phase 2, X1 functioned as context for matching same-class stimuli, and X2 functioned as context for matching separate-class stimuli. In Phase 3, X2 controlled the same derived arbitrary relations as cues for opposition frames in RFT studies. This functional equivalence may suggest that X2 functioned as a cue for opposition frames. In Phase 4, participants matched different stimuli with X2 as context, instead of matching most different (opposite) stimuli. In addition, Different, a cue for matching different stimuli, controlled the same derived arbitrary relations as X2. These results are incompatible with X2 being a cue for opposition frames. Contextual control over equivalence and responding by exclusion can explain these outcomes. The implications of these findings for RFT studies on opposition frames are discussed.The objective of this article is to systematically assess and identify factors affecting risk disparity due to infrastructure service disruptions in extreme weather events. We propose a household service gap model that characterizes societal risks at the household level by examining service disruptions as threats, level of tolerance of households to disruptions as susceptibility, and experienced hardship as an indicator for the realized impacts of risk. The concept of "zone of tolerance" for the service disruptions was encapsulated to account for different capabilities of the households to endure the adverse impacts. The model was tested and validated in the context of power outages through survey data from the residents of Harris County in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey in 2017. The results show that households' need for utility service, preparedness level, the existence of substitutes, possession of social capital, previous experience with disasters, and risk communication affect the zone of tolerance within which households cope with service outages. In addition, sociodemographic characteristics, such as race and residence type, are shown to influence the zone of tolerance, and hence the level of hardship experienced by the affected households. The results reveal that population subgroups show variations in the tolerance level of service disruptions. The findings highlight the importance of integrating social dimensions into the resilience planning of infrastructure systems. The proposed model and results enable human-centric hazards mitigation and resilience planning to effectively reduce the risk disparity of vulnerable populations to service disruptions in disasters.
Progressive renal impairment, given by an annual decline in estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR), has been described in patients with intestinal failure (IF) receiving home parenteral support (HPS). The objective of this study was to examine changes in eGFR over 5 years following initiation of HPS treatment and to identify potential risk factors for loss of renal function.
This retrospective database study investigates eGFR changes in nonmalignant IF patients discharged with HPS from Rigshospitalet, Copenhagen, in an 8-year period.
One year after HPS initiation, mean eGFR decreased by 15.3 ml/min/1.73 m
. Paired t-test showed a decline of 15.0 ml/min/1.73 m
(95% CI, -18.3 to -11.6; P < .0001). Over the following years, eGFR continued to decrease but at insignificant lower rates. Decreased eGFR was associated with increasing age, female sex, increasing body weight, diabetes at HPS initiation, and a high requirement of HPS volume.

We conducted 2 experiments with 6 college students. In Phase 1, they received training in a conditional discrimination AB. Then, they received training for maintaining AB with X1 as context, and for reversing the sample-comparison relations of AB, with X2. In Phase 2, X1 functioned as context for matching same-class stimuli, and X2 functioned as context for matching separate-class stimuli. In Phase 3, X2 controlled the same derived arbitrary relations as cues for opposition frames in RFT studies. This functional equivalence may suggest that X2 functioned as a cue for opposition frames. In Phase 4, participants matched different stimuli with X2 as context, instead of matching most different (opposite) stimuli. In addition, Different, a cue for matching different stimuli, controlled the same derived arbitrary relations as X2. These results are incompatible with X2 being a cue for opposition frames. We propose a household service gap model that characterizes societal risks at the household level by examining service disruptions as threats, level of tolerance of households to disruptions as susceptibility, and experienced hardship as an indicator for the realized impacts of risk. The concept of "zone of tolerance" for the service disruptions was encapsulated to account for different capabilities of the households to endure the adverse impacts. The model was tested and validated in the context of power outages through survey data from the residents of Harris County in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey in 2017. The results show that households' need for utility service, preparedness level, the existence of substitutes, possession of social capital, previous experience with disasters, and risk communication affect the zone of tolerance within which households cope with service outages. In addition, sociodemographic characteristics, such as race and residence type, are shown to influence the zone of tolerance, and hence the level of hardship experienced by the affected households. The results reveal that population subgroups show variations in the tolerance level of service disruptions. The findings highlight the importance of integrating social dimensions into the resilience planning of infrastructure systems. The proposed model and results enable human-centric hazards mitigation and resilience planning to effectively reduce the risk disparity of vulnerable populations to service disruptions in disasters. Progressive renal impairment, given by an annual decline in estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR), has been described in patients with intestinal failure (IF) receiving home parenteral support (HPS). The objective of this study was to examine changes in eGFR over 5 years following initiation of HPS treatment and to identify potential risk factors for loss of renal function. This retrospective database study investigates eGFR changes in nonmalignant IF patients discharged with HPS from Rigshospitalet, Copenhagen, in an 8-year period. One year after HPS initiation, mean eGFR decreased by 15.3 ml/min/1.73 m . Paired t-test showed a decline of 15.0 ml/min/1.73 m (95% CI, -18.3 to -11.6; P < .0001). To prospectively determine the value of optical coherence tomography (OCT) as a surrogate outcome measure for the progression of myelopathy in males with adrenoleukodystrophy.
Retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) and ganglion cell layer (GCL) thickness were measured at baseline, 1- and 2-year follow-up in patients and age-matched controls. We assessed the severity of myelopathy with clinical parameters Expanded Disability Status Scale (EDSS), Severity Scoring system for Progressive Myelopathy (SSPROM), and timed up-and-go. Linear mixed model analysis was used to compare changes in retinal layer thickness of patients to controls. In addition, we correlated changes in retinal layer thickness with changes in clinical parameters.
Longitudinal data were available for 28 patients and 29 controls. Peripapillary RNFL (pRNFL) thickness decreased significantly in patients compared to controls (-1.75µm, p=0.001), whereas change in macular GCL and RNFL was not different between groups. Analysis of the symptomatic subgroup showed that, apart from a similar decrease in pRNFL thickness, GCL thickness decreased significantly (-0.55µm, p=0.014). There were moderately strong correlations between changes in retinal layer thickness and changes in clinical parameters of severity of myelopathy.

This is the first study to clone duck CCCH-type zinc finger antiviral protein (duZAP) from Jingjiang duck (Anas platyrhynchos). Full-length duZAP cDNA was 2154 bp and encoded a 717-amino acid polypeptide containing four highly conserved CCCH-type finger motifs, a WWE domain and a poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP) domain. duZAP was expressed in multiple duck tissues, with the highest mRNA expression in the spleen. Overexpression of duZAP in duck embryo fibroblast cells (DEFs) led to activation of the transcription factors IRF1 and NF-κB, and induction of IFN-β. Analysis of deletion mutants revealed that both the WWE and PARP domains of duZAP were essential for activating the IFN-β promoter. However, it is unclear what pattern of neural reward function underlies pre-existing vulnerability to BSDs and SUDs, or whether neural reward function explains their high co-occurrence. The current paper provides an overview of the separate literatures on neural reward sensitivity in BSDs and SUDs. We provide a systematic review of 35 studies relevant to identifying neural reward function vulnerability to BSDs and SUDs. These studies include those examining neural reward processing on a monetary reward task with prospective designs predicting initial onset of SUDs, familial risk studies that examine unaffected offspring or first-degree relatives of family members with BSDs or SUDs, and studies that examine individuals with BSDs or SUDs who are not currently in an episode of the disorder. Findings from the review highlight that aberrant responding and connectivity across neural regions associated with reward and cognitive control confers risk for the development of BSDs and SUDs. Discussion focuses on limitations of the extant literature. We conclude with an integration and theoretical model for understanding how aberrant neural reward responding may constitute a vulnerability to the development of both BSDs and SUDs.

This meta-analysis was conducted according to PRISMA guidelines and meta-analytic methods suggested by Hedges and Olkin (1985). A systematic literature search between 2000 and 2020 was conducted using CINAHL, MEDLINE, PsycINFO, PubMed, and Web of Science databases. Studies and intervention characteristics were independently coded. The Quality Assessment Tool for Quantitative Studies, Cochrane Collaboration's Tool for Assessing Risk of Bias, Begg and Mazumdar's rank correlation, and Egger's regression test evaluated publication bias.

Culturally appropriate music-based interventions conducted in the clinical setting that used passive listening with headphones, occurring ≥ 3-times a week over ≥ 2 months, positively impacted gynecology survivors undergoing chemotherapy and surgical treatments. Specifically, interventions that were ≥ 35-minutes, listening to folk or mixed-music positively impacted psychological distress symptoms, whereas new-age music negatively impacted psychological distress symptoms, positive psychology, and QoL outcomes. Future research should examine positive psychology characteristics (perceived levels of positive adjustment, change, and coping) and include larger cohorts with various cancer populations across all cancer survivorship continuum. This is the first study to clone duck CCCH-type zinc finger antiviral protein (duZAP) from Jingjiang duck (Anas platyrhynchos). Full-length duZAP cDNA was 2154 bp and encoded a 717-amino acid polypeptide containing four highly conserved CCCH-type finger motifs, a WWE domain and a poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP) domain. duZAP was expressed in multiple duck tissues, with the highest mRNA expression in the spleen. Overexpression of duZAP in duck embryo fibroblast cells (DEFs) led to activation of the transcription factors IRF1 and NF-κB, and induction of IFN-β. Analysis of deletion mutants revealed that both the WWE and PARP domains of duZAP were essential for activating the IFN-β promoter. Knockdown of duZAP in DEFs significantly reduced poly (IC)- and duck Tembusu virus (DTMUV)-induced IFN-β activation. However, it is unclear what pattern of neural reward function underlies pre-existing vulnerability to BSDs and SUDs, or whether neural reward function explains their high co-occurrence. The current paper provides an overview of the separate literatures on neural reward sensitivity in BSDs and SUDs. We provide a systematic review of 35 studies relevant to identifying neural reward function vulnerability to BSDs and SUDs. These studies include those examining neural reward processing on a monetary reward task with prospective designs predicting initial onset of SUDs, familial risk studies that examine unaffected offspring or first-degree relatives of family members with BSDs or SUDs, and studies that examine individuals with BSDs or SUDs who are not currently in an episode of the disorder. Findings from the review highlight that aberrant responding and connectivity across neural regions associated with reward and cognitive control confers risk for the development of BSDs and SUDs. Discussion focuses on limitations of the extant literature. We conclude with an integration and theoretical model for understanding how aberrant neural reward responding may constitute a vulnerability to the development of both BSDs and SUDs. Music-based interventions can provide non-pharmacological, low-cost treatment for symptoms. This meta-analysis's purpose is to examine music-based interventions' effectiveness on psychological distress symptoms (anxiety, stress, and depressive symptoms), aspects of positive psychology (benefit-finding and resilience), and quality of life (QoL). Twenty-nine of thirty-five eligible studies were included in the statistical analysis. The overall (g=0.34, SE=2.27, p<0.05) and ignificance and generalizability. Culturally appropriate music-based interventions conducted in the clinical setting that used passive listening with headphones, occurring ≥ 3-times a week over ≥ 2 months, positively impacted gynecology survivors undergoing chemotherapy and surgical treatments. A 31-year-old female was readmitted to the emergency department after 3 days of sleep disturbance, intermittent paranoid delusions, auditory hallucinations, and agitation that started after the favipiravir treatment was initiated. A physical examination revealed disorganized speech, distorted orientation, and agitation. All laboratory tests, including drug screening and cerebrospinal fluid analysis, were normal. After excluding all the other causes of acute psychosis, favipiravir treatment was discontinued, antipsychotic treatment was started, and the patient was admitted to the psychiatric ward. Following this example, we provide a selectionist account of the music of Ludwig van Beethoven in the 250th anniversary of his birth. We explored the variation, selection, and transmission of his music over the course of his life and career in the sociopolitical milieu of his time, as well as after his death. The dissemination of Beethoven's music was characterized by aggregate products resulting from a number of interlocking contingencies, which created a high demand for his music. Our analysis highlights two levels of relational processes in the selection of Beethoven's music The relational repertoire that enabled Beethoven to compose masterpieces while he was completely deaf, and the symbolic meaning of his music in promoting the values of freedom and democracy in many societies.Nathan H. Azrin (1930-2013) contributed extensively to the fields of experimental and applied behavior analysis. His creative and prolific research programs covered a wide range of experimental and applied areas that resulted in 160 articles and several books published over a period of almost 6 decades. As a result, his career illustrates an unparalleled example of translational work in behavior analysis, which has had a major impact not only within our field, but across disciplines and outside academia. In the current article we present a summary of Azrin's wide ranging contributions in the areas of punishment, behavioral engineering, conditioned reinforcement and token economies, feeding disorders, toilet training, overcorrection, habit disorders, in-class behavior, job finding, marital therapy, and substance abuse. In addition, we use scientometric evidence to gain an insight on Azrin's general approach to treatment evaluation and programmatic research. The analysis of Azrin's approach to research, we believe, holds important lessons to behavior analysts today with an interest in the applied and translational sectors of our science.

Some basic tenets are widely agreed in the field but it can be argued that some other assumptions are implicit in our approach and, if unexamined, may impair progress. Since the time of David Hume, there has been a strong Western philosophical tradition of naturalism and realism. Although behavior analysis has from the outset embraced pragmatism, features of naturalism are embedded in the metaphysics of science and thus have been imported into behavior analysis. Many versions of naturalism imply dualism, but this can be avoided without abandoning a naturalist-realist position either by adopting the historicist approach of Rorty, which suggests that apparently a priori truths are often merely conventions of a philosophical tradition, or by accepting Wittgenstein's view that there are hinge statements that are fundamental to our thinking but are not propositional beliefs and do not entail dualism. As an alternative, we can adopt the metaphysical assumptions of monism, possibly starting from William James's approach of neutral monism.

The Royal Army Dental Corps (RADC) provides dental care to the British Army both in barracks and on deployment While a significant proportion of most RADC dental officers' careers is spent working in permanent military primary care dental clinics, it is the ability of all RADC dental officers to provide dental care when deployed that provides unique challenges only seen in the military environment. All RADC dental officers are able to deliver high quality care in temporary facilities. During a career the majority of RADC dental officers will have at least one job in a medical regiment providing the dental component of the British Army's rapidly deployable medical capability. This article covers some of the issues faced when delivering dental care outside the UK using portable equipment on a recent exercise.As RADC officers gain experience they are expected to lead increasingly large teams, both within primary care dentistry and some in the wider Army Medical Services, with the appropriate professional and military training to support their development.Working under pressure can be developed through the use of adventurous training and sport and the authors have pushed themselves well beyond their comfort zones in the air, on land and under the sea.This is the tale of two soldiers serving in the Army Dental Corps, who conducted an unsupported and unauthorised commando mission into occupied France during World War II (WW2).In 1942, Sergeant King and Private Cuthbertson planned and executed one of the most daring and ambitious raids of WW2. Their perceived lack of utility to the war effort spawned their personal invasion of France, which became of interest to not only the Special Operations Executive (SOE), but Winston Churchill himself. The couple stole weapons from the armoury, commandeered a vessel, and journeyed to France where they inflicted damage and disruption to the enemy.Their mission caused ripples of pride throughout those serving, especially those in the Army Dental Corps. The question still remains though; should they have been treated as heroes or villains?The First Gulf War was triggered by Iraq, led by Saddam Hussein, invading and brutally occupying Kuwait, triggering an international response. A coalition of UN-sponsored allies, led by the USA, assembled to liberate Kuwait. The forces in the region included a British contingent, initially focusing on an Armoured Brigade, but eventually expanding to an Armoured Division, supported by maritime and air components. The Army presence included Royal Army Dental Corps officers and soldiers in clinical roles, but also as medical sub-unit commanders. A brief account of the field organisation of the Army Medical Services and the varied roles played by dental personnel leads into a short clinical report which provides epidemiological information on the dental health of the force and data on the treatment carried out. A description of the preparation for war is followed by a personal narrative of the land campaign.Peacekeeping and the delivery of humanitarian aid is a vital component in the repertoire of any modern military and the UK has been at the forefront in contributing to these types of operation at an international level. When preparing for an enduring task such as peacekeeping, it is essential to consider all supporting components that can help deliver a common goal. In this study, starch-based nanocomposite films reinforced by cross-linked starch nanocrystals (CSNCs) were successfully prepared. Therefore, in this contribution, we aimed to prepare an environmentally scaffold-based CA loaded with copper nanoparticles (CuONPs), which are expected to not only improve the hydrophilicity of the prepared nanofibers, but also have an effective ability to kill such harmful and infectious microbes that are abundant in wounds. The obtained results attested that the generated nanofibers became thicker with increasing the content of CuONPs in CA nanofibers. The roughness average increased from 143.2 to 157.1 nm, whereas the maximum height of the roughness (Rt) increased from 400.8 to 479.9 nm as going from the lowest to the highest content of CuONPs. Additionally, the contact angle of the prepared nanofibers decreased from 105.3° (CA alone) to 85.4° for CuONPs@CA. Significantly, biological studies revealed that cell viability and anti-bacterial potency were improved upon incorporating CuONPs into CA solution. Correspondingly, their inhibition zones reached 18 ± 3 mm, and 16 ± 2 mm for nanofibrous scaffolds having 12.0CuO@CA, besides raising the cell viability from 91.3 ± 4% to 96.4 ± 4% for 0.0CuO@CA, and 12.0CuO@CA, respectively, thereby implying that the fabricated CuONPs@CA nanocomposite has biocompatibility towards fibroblast cells. The lossless waveform transmission can be achieved with our electrodes. Therefore, the Pearson's correlation coefficient calculated with input waveform and output waveform of the electrodes based on the top grain layer (GLE) and the split layer (SLE) of cowhide were 0.997 and 0.998 at 0.1 Hz respectively. The skin electrode impedance (Z) was tested, and the parameters of the equivalent circuit model of the skin electrode interface were calculated by a fitting method, indicating that the Z of the prepared electrodes was comparable with the standard gel electrode when the skin is moist enough. The signal-to-noise ratio of the ECG of the GLE and the SLE were 1.148 and 1.205 times that of the standard electrode in the standing posture, which meant the ECG measured by our electrodes was basically consistent with that measured by the standard electrode.Background and Objectives The beginning of the SARS-Cov-2 pandemic period has had a strong impact on patients' life, but also on doctors. The main goal of this research is to identify the difficulties related to the professional activity and personal life of obstetrics and gynecology doctors. Material and Methods In total, 94 physicians from a single university center answered to an online questionnaire. Socio-demographic, health, family, and job-related data were collected. Data were processed using SPSS (v.25). Results 7.4% of the doctors were confirmed infected with SARS-Cov-2 during the first 6 months of the pandemic, and 48.94% treated infected patients. Due to the large number of patients, 10.64% of the doctors have had no days-off during the last 6 months, and 22.34% of them have had new medical problems that led them to see a specialist. Seventeen to nineteen percent mentioned an increasing number of working hours and shifts per month due to the pandemic period, more than 10% used pills to cope with work-stress, and 25% of them had sleep disorders along with appetite loss. Extra-protection rules and negative consequences of wearing special equipment were identified thermal discomfort that caused decreasing resistance and concentration during the surgery (52%), reduced mobility and accuracy of surgical or medical gestures (40%), and intraoperative visibility (47%). Doctors who were working with confirmed pregnant women preferred caesarean section. Conclusions Working under the stress of an infection with SARS-Cov-2 is causing a lot of pressure and determines changes in personal, familial, social, and professional life. There is a dearth of information in South Africa on cancer and non-cancer risks of exposure to heavy metal (HM) content of PM2.5. This study determined the seasonal concentration of HM in PM2.5 and the cancer and non-cancer risks of exposure to HM in PM2.5. Ambient PM2.5 was monitored and samples were collected during the winter and summer months in an industrialized area in South Africa. Concentration levels of nine HMs-As, Cu, Cd, Cr, Fe, Mn, Ni, Pb, and Zn-were determined in the PM2.5 samples using inductive coupled optical emission spectrophotometry. The non-cancer and cancer risks of each metal through the inhalation, ingestion and dermal routes were estimated using the Hazard Quotient and Excess Lifetime Cancer Risk (ELCR), respectively, among infants, children, and adults. Mean concentration of each HM-bound PM2.5 was higher in winter than in summer. The probability of the HM to induce non-cancer effects was higher during winter than in summer. The mean ELCR for HMs in PM2.5 (5.24 × 10-2) was higher than the acceptable limit of 10-6 to 10-4. The carcinogenic risk from As, Cd, Cr, Ni, and Pb were higher than the acceptable limit for all age groups. The risk levels for the carcinogenic HMs followed the order Cr > As > Cd > Ni > Pb. The findings indicated that the concentrations of HM in PM2.5 demonstrated a season-dependent pattern and could trigger cancer and non-cancer health risks. A network of regulatory transcription factors, protein kinases and microRNAs have been imputed which converge on the process of adipogenesis. As the majority of these genes also showed altered expression in diabetics and some of them are also circulatory, therefore they deserve further investigation for potential clinical diagnostic and therapeutic applications.Animal cells can regulate their volume after swelling by the regulatory volume decrease (RVD) mechanism. Inspired by BERT, we propose Med-BERT, which adapts the BERT framework originally developed for the text domain to the structured EHR domain. Med-BERT is a contextualized embedding model pretrained on a structured EHR dataset of 28,490,650 patients. Fine-tuning experiments showed that Med-BERT substantially improves the prediction accuracy, boosting the area under the receiver operating characteristics curve (AUC) by 1.21-6.14% in two disease prediction tasks from two clinical databases. In particular, pretrained Med-BERT obtains promising performances on tasks with small fine-tuning training sets and can boost the AUC by more than 20% or obtain an AUC as high as a model trained on a training set ten times larger, compared with deep learning models without Med-BERT. We demonstrated different multispectral autofluorescence signals in such cells extracted from the urine of patients with healthy or diseased kidneys. Using up to 10 features, we were able to differentiate cells from individuals with heathy kidneys and impaired renal function (indicated by estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) values) with the receiver operating characteristic area under the curve (AUC) of 0.99. Using the same method, we were also able to discriminate such urine cells from patients with and without renal fibrosis on biopsy, where significant differences in multispectral autofluorescence signals (AUC = 0.90) were demonstrated between healthy and diseased patients (p less then 0.05). These findings show that multispectral assessment of the cell autofluorescence in urine exfoliated proximal tubule kidney cells has the potential to be developed as a sensitive, non-invasive diagnostic method for CKD.

Earlier our group has demonstrated the drug reservoir function of the human amniotic membrane (HAM) using stable moxifloxacin and fortified cefazolin ophthalmic formulations and found it as a suitable tool to deliver drugs for an extended duration. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the extended-release kinetics of voriconazole from the impregnated human amniotic membrane (HAM) in vitro.
HAM buttons were incubated with freshly prepared 1% topical ophthalmic formulation of voriconazole for 5 different exposure time to investigate the ideal exposure time for the extended-release of voriconazole from HAM. The drug release kinetics was studied in simulated tear fluid for 5 weeks and the amount of voriconazole released at different intervals was estimated using high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) with photodiode array (PDA) detector.
There was a marginal increase in drug entrapment efficiency with increased drug exposure time but neither the drug entrapment nor the drug release was found to be statistically significant (P ≥ 0.5). Voriconazole was detectable even at 5 weeks.
A sustained release of voriconazole was achieved up to 5 weeks, when voriconazole was incubated with amniotic membrane for all the studied drug soaking times. Thus, voriconazole impregnated amniotic membrane can be considered for the sustained delivery for its in fungal keratitis.

The aim of this study was to estimate the prevalence of symptoms of dry eye disease (DED) in an urban population in India.
In this cross-sectional study, a two-stage cluster sampling procedure was conducted across 50 municipal wards in the city of Raipur, India, between December 2019 and February 2020, to include 2500 households. Interviewers collected demographic and lifestyle data from participants aged ≥20 years. DED symptoms were assessed using a standard six-item validated questionnaire. The presence of one or more of the six dry eye symptoms often or all the time was considered positive for DED symptoms.
In this study, 2378 people completed the survey of whom 1397 (58.7%) were males and 981 (41.3%) were females. The crude and overall age-adjusted prevalence for any positive symptom was 6.5% and 6.8% (95% CI 5.8-7.8%), respectively. The commonest symptom was red eyes (2.8%) followed by burning sensation (1.8%), foreign body sensation (1.7%), dry eyes (1.2%), gummy eyes (1.2%), and crusts on eyelashes (0.8%). The associated risk factors were female sex, use of digital display, smoking and stay in an air-conditioned environment.

The retinal manifestations of Leishmaniasis consist of self-resolving hemorrhages secondary to thrombocytopenia. Two main uveitis etiologies have been identified uveitis in the context of active Leishmanial infection (associated with immunosuppression) and uveitis occurring as an immune reconstitution syndrome. Corneal involvement in most geographic areas generally follows an aggressive course, most often ending in corneal perforation if left untreated. In the Americas, a chronic indolent interstitial keratitis may also occur. Topical steroids are of little use in keratitis (systemic antileishmanials being the cornerstone of treatment). However, these are essential in cases of uveitis, with or without concomitant systemic antileishmanial therapy. The varied clinical presentations and treatment strategies employed to manage them have been discussed in the present study. The recent advances in ocular surface imaging in oGVHD patients such as the use of meibography and in vivo confocal microscopy may help in early diagnosis and prognostication of the disease.
