We found that, despite varied search strategies, the majority of scientists made a conclusion as the fitting error converged. Scientists who made premature conclusions, due to insufficient variable-space coverage or before the fitting error stabilized, were more prone to incorrect conclusions. We found that novice undergraduates used the same heuristics as expert geoscientists in a simplified version of the scenario. We believe the findings from this study could be used to improve field science training in data foraging, and aid in the development of technologies to support data collection decisions.Relationships between convergence of inputs onto neurons, divergence of outputs from them, synaptic strengths, nonlinear firing response properties, and randomness of axonal ranges are systematically explored by interrelating means and variances of synaptic strengths, firing rates, and soma voltages. When self-consistency is imposed, it is found that broad distributions of synaptic strength are a necessary concomitant of the known massive convergence of inputs to individual neurons, and observed widths of lognormal distributions of synaptic strength and firing rate are explained provided the brain is in a near-critical state, consistent with independent observations. The strongest individual synapses are shown to have an effect on soma voltage comparable to the effect of all others combined, which supports suggestions that they may have a key role in neural communication. Remarkably, inclusion of moderate randomness in characteristic axonal ranges is shown to account for the observed [Formula see text]-fold variability in two-point connectivity at a given separation and [Formula see text]-fold overall when the known mean exponential fall-off is included, consistent with observed near-lognormal distributions. Inferred axonal deviations from straight-line paths are also consistent with independent estimates.

We conducted a prospective, single-arm, interventional study including 15 patients scheduled for spine surgery under general anesthesia. Evoked electromyograms of the soleus muscle and TCE-MEPs were measured at three propofol concentrations using target-controlled infusion (TCI 2.0, 3.0, and 4.0µg/mL). The primary outcome measure was the left H-reflex amplitude during TCI of 4.0- compared to 2.0-µg/mL propofol administration.
The median [interquartile range] amplitudes of the left H-reflex were 4.71 [3.42-6.60] and 5.6 [4.17-7.46] in the 4.0- and 2.0-μg/mL TCI groups (p = 0.4, Friedman test), respectively. There were no significant differences in the amplitudes of the right H-reflex and the bilateral F-wave among these groups. However, the TCE-MEP amplitudes significantly decreased with increased propofol concentrations (p < 0.001, Friedman test).

XRD technique revealed cubic phase of MgO, while its crystalline nature was confirmed through SAED profiles. Formation of nanostructure with cubic and hexagon morphology was confirmed with TEM, whereas interlayer average d-spacing of 0.23 nm was assessed using HR-TEM. Dopants existence and evaluation of elemental constitution Mg, O were corroborated using EDS technique. Catalytic activity against methyl blue ciprofloxacin (****) was significantly reduced (45%) for higher GO dopant concentration (0.05), whereas bactericidal activity of MgO against E. coli was improved significantly (4.85 mm inhibition zone) upon doping with higher concentration (0.05) of GO, owing to the formation of nanorods.
Obturator hernia is a life-threatening condition, requiring emergency intervention due to strangulation, if non-invasive repair for strangulation cannot be complete. Change from emergency surgery to elective surgery using minimal non-invasive options can greatly contribute to perioperative safety and curability of the underlying disease.
12 cases of strangulated obturator hernia from April 2013 to February 2020 with malefemale patient ratio of 012. Reduction under ultrasound guidance was possible amongst 10 out of 12 cases. The average age was 85.3years (74-97) and average BMI was 17.4 (15.0-20.1). Based on physical findings and CT examination, diagnosis of obturator hernia was made using echo guided non-invasive reduction. Prevention in the intestinal ischemia and perforation was observed in the treated cases. Upon request, elective radical surgery was performed in 7 of these patients after their condition improved and monitored other organs for any signs.
Attempt to improve the strangulation of obturator hernia under an echo-guided approach could enable elective and safe surgery and is believed to be a diagnostic treatment worth attempting.

MicroRNA-target networks are often dysregulated in diseases. Our purpose is to investigate this dysregulation of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). Through the bioinformatics reanalysis of the public RNAseq dataset, we found that miR-188-3p was the miRNA with the highest induction rate, and indicated that miR-188-3p might have a rare function of upregulating its targeted expression. This discovery will increase our understanding of the pathology of PCOS and provide new targets for treatment strategies.Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is an incurable neurodegenerative disease that primarily affects motor neurons, causing muscle atrophy, bulbar palsy, and pyramidal tract signs. However, the aetiology and pathogenesis of ALS have not been elucidated to date. In this study, a competitive endogenous RNA (ceRNA) network was constructed by analyzing the expression profiles of messenger RNAs (mRNAs) and long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) that were matched by 7 ALS samples and 4 control samples, and then a protein-protein interaction (PPI) network was constructed to identify the genes related to ALS. Gene Ontology (GO) was used to study the potential functions of differentially expressed mRNAs (DEmRNAs) in the ceRNA network. For the ALS and control groups, 247177 potential lncRNA-mRNA ceRNA relationship pairs were screened. Analysis of significant relationship pairs demonstrated that the PPI modules formed by the MALAT1-regulated SYNRG, ITSN2, PICALM, AP3B1, and AAK1 genes may play important roles in the pathogenesis of ALS, and these results may help to characterize the pathogenesis of ALS.Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a major cause of morbidity and mortality, both in adult and pediatric populations. However, the dynamic changes of gene expression profiles following TBI have not been fully understood. In this study, we identified the differentially expressed genes (DEGs) following TBI. Remarkably, Serpina3n, Asf1b, Folr1, LOC100366216, Clec12a, Olr1, Timp1, Hspb1, Lcn2, and Spp1 were identified as the top 10 with the highest statistical significance. The weighted gene coexpression analysis (WGCNA) identified 12 functional modules from the DEGs, which showed specific expression patterns over time and were characterized by enrichment analysis. Specifically, the black and turquoise modules were mainly involved in energy metabolism and protein translation. The green yellow and yellow modules including Hmox1, Mif, Anxa2, Timp1, Gfap, Cd9, Gja1, Pdpn, and Gpx1 were related to response to wounding, indicating that expression of these genes such as Hmox1, Anxa2, and Timp1 could protect the brains from brain injury. The green yellow module highlighted genes involved in microglial cell activation such as Tyrobp, Cx3cr1, Grn, Trem2, C1qa, and Aif1, suggesting that these genes were responsible for the inflammatory response caused by TBI. The upregulation of these genes has been validated in an independent dataset. These results indicated that the key genes in microglia cell activation may serve as a promising therapeutic target for TBI. In summary, the present study provided a full view of the dynamic gene expression changes following TBI.

The bioactive compounds in HH were active in various signal transduction pathways such as the toll-like receptor signaling pathway, VEGF signaling pathway, TNF signaling pathway, and HIF-1 signaling pathway are important pathways that may regulate anti-inflammatory, antiapoptotic, immune correlation, and antioxidative effects. The core genes are PTGS2, TNF, NOS2, IL6, BCL2, IL1B, SOD2, NOS3, SOD1, MMP9, and VEGFA. The in vitro results suggested that HH treatment could significantly elevate the expression of proangiogenic genes such as VEGFA, VEGFR2, and eNOS compared with OGD groups.

Epimedium koreanum Nakai is a medicinal plant known for its health beneficial effects on impotence, arrhythmia, oxidation, aging, osteoporosis, and cardiovascular diseases. However, there is no report available that shows its effects on platelet functions. Here, we elucidated antiplatelet and antithrombotic effects of ethyl acetate fraction of E. koreanum. Methodology. We analyzed the antiplatelet properties using standard in vitro and in vivo techniques, such as light transmission aggregometry, scanning electron microscopy, intracellular calcium mobilization measurement, dense granule secretion, and flow cytometry to assess integrin α IIb β 3 activation, clot retraction, and Western blot, on washed platelets. The antithrombotic effects of E. koreanum were assessed by arteriovenous- (AV-) shunt model in rats, and its effects on hemostasis were analyzed by tail bleeding assay in ****. Key Results. E. koreanum inhibited platelet aggregation in agonist-stimulated human and rat washed platelets, and it also reduced calcium mobilization, ATP secretion, and TXB2 formation. Fibrinogen binding, fibronectin adhesion, and clot retraction by attenuated integrin α IIb β 3-mediated inside-out and outside-in signaling were also decreased. Reduced phosphorylation of extracellular signal-regulated kinases (ERK), Akt, PLCγ2, and Src was observed. Moreover, the fraction inhibited thrombosis. HPLC results revealed that the fraction predominantly contained icariin. Conclusion and Implications. E. koreanum inhibited platelet aggregation and thrombus formation by attenuating calcium mobilization, ATP secretion, TXB2 formation, and integrin α IIb β 3 activation. Therefore, it may be considered as a potential candidate to treat and prevent platelet-related cardiovascular disorders.

Tennessee women experience the 12th highest breast cancer mortality in the United States. We examined the geographic differences in breast cancer incidence in Tennessee between Appalachian and non-Appalachian counties from 2005 to 2015.
We used ArcGIS 10.7 geospatial analysis and logistic regression on the Tennessee Cancer Registry incidence data for adult women aged ≥ 18 years (N = 59,287) who were diagnosed with breast cancer from 2005 to 2015 to evaluate distribution patterns by Appalachian county designation. The Tennessee Cancer Registry is a population-based, central cancer registry serving the citizens of Tennessee and was established by Tennessee law to collect and monitor cancer incidence. The main outcome was breast cancer stage at diagnosis. Independent variables were age, race, marital status, type of health insurance, and county of residence.

The aim of this study was to compare how program directors in orthopaedics and internal medicine perceive a pass/fail Step 1 will impact the residency application process.
A 27-item survey was distributed through REDCap to 161 U.S. orthopaedic residency program directors and 548 U.S. internal medicine residency program directors. Program director emails were obtained from the American Medical Association's Fellowship and Residency Electronic Interactive Database.
We received 58 (36.0%) orthopaedic and 125 (22.8%) internal medicine program director responses. The majority of both groups disagree with the change to pass/fail, and felt that the decision was not transparent. Both groups believe that the Step 2 Clinical Knowledge exam and clerkship grades will take on more importance. Compared to internal medicine PDs, orthopaedic PDs were significantly more likely to emphasize rp, leadership/extracurricular activities, personal knowledge of the applicant, and audition electives.

In many cases, both the rupture rate of cerebral arteriovenous malformation (bAVM) in patients and the risk of endovascular or surgical treatment (when radiosurgery is not appropriate) are not low, it is important to assess the risk of rupture more cautiously before treatment. Based on the current high-risk predictors and clinical data, different sample sizes, sampling times and algorithms were used to build prediction models for the risk of hemorrhage in bAVM, and the accuracy and stability of the models were investigated. Data on 198 single-visit endodontic treatments (80 anterior teeth, 43 premolars, and 75 molars) performed under general anesthesia by a specialized practitioner were obtained from 119 special needs patients (mean [SD] age=30.7 [14.7] years). Total duration of operation was analyzed with relation to demographic and dental factors and American Association of Endodontists (AAE) Case Difficulty Assessment factors. Mann-Whitney U test, t-test, and Kruskal-Wallis test were used to assess relationships between operating time and confounding factors (p<0.05).

We examined the geographic differences in breast cancer incidence in Tennessee between Appalachian and non-Appalachian counties from 2005 to 2015. We used ArcGIS 10.7 geospatial analysis and logistic regression on the Tennessee Cancer Registry incidence data for adult women aged ≥ 18 years (N = 59,287) who were diagnosed with breast cancer from 2005 to 2015 to evaluate distribution patterns by Appalachian county designation. The Tennessee Cancer Registry is a population-based, central cancer registry serving the citizens of Tennessee and was established by Tennessee law to collect and monitor cancer incidence. The main outcome was breast cancer stage at diagnosis. Independent variables were age, race, marital status, type of health insurance, and county of residence. Pancreatic functions, ROS, and antioxidant protein measurements were performed to evaluate the effects of CHS on cell injuries. Protein expression levels were measured by Western blotting. Furthermore, siRNA-targeted Nrf2, PI3K/Akt inhibitor (LY294002), or GSK-3β inhibitor (LiCl) was used to investigate the crosstalk relationships between proteins. Non-major science students make up an important, yet understudied, part of our public, given that they constitute tomorrow's voters, workers, consumers, and policy-makers. Expecting that non-majors may benefit from a module connecting COVID-19 to community education, we implemented a novel E-service-learning module in light of the transition from an in-person course to an online platform. Our 4-week module included expert-led lectures, assigned digital infographics about COVID-19 safety precautions, and a required post-reflection assignment summarizing their learning gains. Out of 112 enrolled students, 87 consented to have their reflections analyzed and 8 students chose to participate in additional one-on-one online interviews. In an effort to determine which parts of our module garnered the most student commentary, we grouped post-reflection and interview data into four categories service-learning infographic, service-learning guest lectures, information on COVID-19, and the broader implications of COVID-19. While 13% of students explicitly referenced infographics in their reflections, a far greater proportion (37%) explicitly referenced learning gains related to the expert-led lectures. Based on these findings, we encourage other educators to continue to explore the impact of E-service-learning content and assignments to help maximize learning in an online classroom environment during the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond.As most instruction has been forced online, biology instructors have become acutely aware of the many advantages and limitations of online teaching. Objectives This study aimed to characterize use and perceptions of cannabidiol (CBD) products. Materials and Methods Participants aged 16-65 years in Canada (n=15,042) and the United States (n=30,288) completed measures on prevalence and patterns of CBD product use and perceptions of CBD oil as part of the 2019 International Cannabis Policy Study online survey. Results Past 12-month CBD product use was significantly more prevalent among respondents in the United States (26.1%) than in Canada (16.2%). Consumers in the United States and Canada reported using a range of CBD products, including drops (46.3% vs. 47.3%, respectively), topicals (26.0% vs. 16.7%), edibles/foods (23.8% vs. 17.6%), vape oils (18.9% vs. 13.3%), capsules (13.3% vs. 16.7%), and dried flower (10.1% vs. 16.1%). CBD was most commonly reported for management of pain, anxiety, and depression. Over half of CBD consumers in both countries reported that CBD oil was beneficial for health. Conclusions Use of CBD products is common in both the United States and Canada, primarily to manage self-reported health conditions for which there is little or no evidence of efficacy. Materials and Methods Acute toxicity was determined by treating day 1 adults with a wide range of CBD concentrations (0.4 μM to 4 mM) and assessing mortality and motility compared to control animals. Thermotolerance was examined by treating adult animals with CBD (0.4 μM to 4 mM) and exposing them to 37°C for 4 h, and then scoring for the number of alive animals treated with CBD compared to controls. Long-term toxicity was assessed by exposing day 1 adults to 10, 40, and 100 μM CBD until all animals perished. Control animals had no active drug exposure. Results We report both acute and long-term exposure studies of CBD to adult C. elegans at physiologically relevant concentrations. Acute toxicity results showed that no animal died when exposed to 0.4-4000 μM CBD. The thermotolerance study showed that 40 μM CBD, but not other treatment levels, significantly increased resistance to heat stress by 141% compared to the untreated controls. Notably, whole-life exposure of C. elegans to 10-100 μM CBD revealed a maximum life extension of 18% observed at 40 μM CBD. In addition, motility analysis of the same groups revealed an increase in late-stage life activity by up to 206% compared to controls. Conclusion These results serve as the only CBD lifelong exposure data in an in vivo model to date. Objectives This study aimed to characterize use and perceptions of cannabidiol (CBD) products. Materials and Methods Participants aged 16-65 years in Canada (n=15,042) and the United States (n=30,288) completed measures on prevalence and patterns of CBD product use and perceptions of CBD oil as part of the 2019 International Cannabis Policy Study online survey. Results Past 12-month CBD product use was significantly more prevalent among respondents in the United States (26.1%) than in Canada (16.2%). Consumers in the United States and Canada reported using a range of CBD products, including drops (46.3% vs. 47.3%, respectively), topicals (26.0% vs. 16.7%), edibles/foods (23.8% vs. 17.6%), vape oils (18.9% vs. 13.3%), capsules (13.3% vs. 16.7%), and dried flower (10.1% vs. 16.1%). CBD was most commonly reported for management of pain, anxiety, and depression. Over half of CBD consumers in both countries reported that CBD oil was beneficial for health. Conclusions Use of CBD products is common in both the United States and Canada, primarily to manage self-reported health conditions for which there is little or no evidence of efficacy. Materials and Methods Acute toxicity was determined by treating day 1 adults with a wide range of CBD concentrations (0.4 μM to 4 mM) and assessing mortality and motility compared to control animals. Thermotolerance was examined by treating adult animals with CBD (0.4 μM to 4 mM) and exposing them to 37°C for 4 h, and then scoring for the number of alive animals treated with CBD compared to controls. Long-term toxicity was assessed by exposing day 1 adults to 10, 40, and 100 μM CBD until all animals perished. Control animals had no active drug exposure. Results We report both acute and long-term exposure studies of CBD to adult C. elegans at physiologically relevant concentrations. Acute toxicity results showed that no animal died when exposed to 0.4-4000 μM CBD. The thermotolerance study showed that 40 μM CBD, but not other treatment levels, significantly increased resistance to heat stress by 141% compared to the untreated controls. Notably, whole-life exposure of C. elegans to 10-100 μM CBD revealed a maximum life extension of 18% observed at 40 μM CBD. In addition, motility analysis of the same groups revealed an increase in late-stage life activity by up to 206% compared to controls. Conclusion These results serve as the only CBD lifelong exposure data in an in vivo model to date. The resulting data is used for training two different machine learning models, an artificial neural network and a k-nearest neighbor approach. It can be shown that both models are able to predict the Biot parameters from the specimen's micro-scale with reasonable accuracy. Moreover, the detour via the Biot parameters allows the application of the process for application cases that lie beyond the scope of the initial database, for example, the material behavior for other sound fields or frequency ranges can be predicted. This makes the process particularly useful for material design and takes a step forward in the direction of tailoring materials specific to their application.Lipids are highly diverse in their composition, properties and distribution in different biological entities. We aim to establish the lipidomes of several insulin-sensitive tissues and to test their plasticity when divergent feeding regimens and lifestyles are imposed. Here, we report a proton nuclear magnetic resonance (1H-NMR) study of lipid abundance across 4 tissues of C57Bl6J male **** that includes the changes in the lipid profile after every lifestyle intervention. Every tissue analysed presented a specific lipid profile irrespective of interventions. Glycerolipids and fatty acids were most abundant in epididymal white adipose tissue (eWAT) followed by liver, whereas sterol lipids and phosphoglycerolipids were highly enriched in hypothalamus, and gastrocnemius had the lowest content in all lipid species compared to the other tissues. Both when subjected to a high-fat diet (HFD) and after a subsequent lifestyle intervention (INT), the lipidome of hypothalamus showed no changes. Gastrocnemius and liver revealed a pattern of increase in content in many lipid species after HFD followed by a regression to basal levels after INT, while eWAT lipidome was affected mainly by the fat composition of the administered diets and not their caloric density. Then we showed that, Promerim® hydrolysates can increase the HAC viability and proliferation, while decreasing HAC SA-β-galactosidase activity. To evaluate the effect of Promerim® on a more relevant model of culture, HAC were cultured as organoids in the presence of Promerim® hydrolysates with or without IL-1β to mimic an OA environment. In such conditions, Promerim® hydrolysates led to a decrease in the transcript levels of some proteases that play a major role in the development of OA, such as Htra1 and metalloproteinase-1. Promerim® hydrolysates downregulated HtrA1 protein expression. In contrast, the treatment of cartilage organoids with Promerim® hydrolysates increased the neosynthesis of type I collagen (Promerim®30, 40 and 60) and type II collagen isoforms (Promerim®30 and 40), the latter being the major characteristic component of the cartilage extracellular matrix. The purpose of this study was retrospectively to analyze the risk factors for non-union in Anderson-D'Alonzo type III odontoid fractures with conservative treatment.
25 patients with type III fractures were analyzed. Coronal and sagittal tilt as well as sagittal and lateral mass gaps were measured by using computed tomography.

The usage of short stems in primary total hip arthroplasty (THA) has constantly gained popularity over the last decade, however, to date, short stems are not eligible to be used as revision implants. The aim of this study was to retrospectively evaluate the outcome of revision surgery of failed hip resurfacing arthroplasty (HRA) using short-stem THA.
In a single center, retrospective analysis, 6 consecutive patients who were treated with a calcar-guided short stem after failure of HRA were evaluated. The mean follow-up was 3.25 years (SD 0.45). Patient reported outcome measurements (PROMs) were recorded using the Harris hip score (HHS) and The Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC). The health status was evaluated by the EQ-5D-5L score. Pain and satisfaction were obtained using the visual analogue scale (VAS). Radiographic analysis was performed by evaluating osteolysis, stress shielding, alignement and signs of aseptic loosening. Complications were documented.

Therefore, bio-based materials are excellent candidates to replace PAN as a carbon precursor. Depending on the design requirement (e.g. carbon morphology, doping level, specific surface area, pore size and volume, and electrochemical performance), the appropriate selection of carbon precursors can be made from a variety of biomass and biowaste materials. This review provides a summary and discussion on the preparation and characterization of the emerging and recent bio-based carbon precursors that can be used as electrodes in energy storage applications. The review is outlined based on the morphology of nanostructures and the precursor's type. Furthermore, the review discusses and summarizes the excellent electrochemical performance of these recent carbon precursors in storage energy applications. Finally, a summary and outlook are also given. People with a history of foot ulcers have a diminished quality of life attributed to limited walking and mobility, decreased moderate intensity exercise when compared to people with diabetes without ulcers. One of the largest concerns is ulceration recurrence. Approximately 40% of patients with ulcerations will have a recurrent ulcer in the year following healing and the majority occurs in the first three months following wound healing. Hence this period after ulceration is called "remission" due to this risk for re-ulceration. Promoting and fostering mobility is an integral part of everyday life and is important for maintaining good physical health and health related quality of life for all people living with diabetes. In this short perspective, we provide recommendations on how to safely increase walking activity and facilitate appropriate offloading and monitoring in people with a recently healed foot ulceeturn to activity.
We studied the spatiotemporal spread of a chikungunya virus (CHIKV) outbreak in Sarawak state, Malaysia, during 2009-2010.
The residential addresses of 3054 notified CHIKV cases in 2009-2010 were georeferenced onto a base map of Sarawak with spatial data of rivers and roads using R software. The spatiotemporal spread was determined and clusters were detected using the space-time scan statistic with SaTScan.
Overall CHIKV incidence was 127 per 100 000 population (range, 0-1125 within districts). The average speed of spread was 70.1 km/wk, with a peak of 228 cases/wk and the basic reproduction number (R0) was 3.1. The highest age-specific incidence rate was 228 per 100 000 in adults aged 50-54 y. Significantly more cases (79.4%) lived in rural areas compared with the general population (46.2%, p<0.0001). This retrospective cohort study assessed 111 888 operations performed on adults at a single academic medical center from June 1, 2012, to August 31, 2016, with a mean duration of follow-up based on the length of postoperative hospital stay less than 7 days. Data analysis was performed from February 1 to September 31, 2020.
Outcomes included 5 postoperative complications acute kidney injury (AKI), delirium, deep vein thrombosis (DVT), pulmonary embolism (PE), and pneumonia. Patient and clinical characteristics available preoperatively, intraoperatively, and a combination of both were used as inputs for 5 candidate ML models logistic regression, support vector machine, random forest, gradient boostreased from 0.588 to 0.905 for pneumonia, 0.579 to 0.848 for AKI, 0.574 to 0.881 for DVT, 0.5 to 0.831 for PE, and 0.6 to 0.762 for delirium. The Shapley Additive Explanations analysis generated model-agnostic interpretation that illustrated significant clinical contributors associated with risks of postoperative complications.
The ML models for predicting postoperative complications with model-agnostic interpretation offer opportunities for integrating risk predictions for clinical decision support. The efficacy of gabapentin for pain management of arthroscopy remains controversial. We conduct a systematic review and meta-analysis to explore the influence of gabapentin versus placebo on the postoperative pain intensity of arthroscopy.
We search PubMed, EMbase, Web of science, EBSCO, and Cochrane library databases through April 2020 for randomized controlled trials assessing the effect of gabapentin versus placebo on pain control of arthroscopy. This meta-analysis is performed using the random-effect model.

Nocturia is a common and highly troubled lower urinary tract symptom, which has a wide range of effects. About 33% of patients with lower urinary tract symptoms have been affected by nocturia. Nocturia is mainly manifested as the increase of urination frequency and urine volume at night. It has been proved that acupuncture can reduce the symptoms of nocturia and regulate bladder function in Western countries. Acupuncture may be a promising choice for the treatment of nocturia.
RCTs of acupuncture for nocturia will be searched in the relevant database, including PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, China National Knowledge Infrastructure Wanfang Database, Chinese Biomedical Literature Database, and Chinese Scientific Journal Database. The studies of electronic searches will be exported to EndNote V.9.1 software. We will run meta-analyses using the Review Manager (RevMan) V.5.3 software. Any disagreement will be solved in consultation with a third reviewer.

There is an elevated risk of rebleeding when the aneurysm is left untreated in patients diagnosed with aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH). Occlusion of the lumen of the aneurysm using endovascular coiling is a common method to prevent rebleeding by occluding the aneurysm. This study aims to evaluate the efficacy and safety of endovascular coiling in patients with aneurysmal SAH.
A systematic search for relevant articles will be performed in 4 English electronic databases, including MEDLINE (from 1966 to October 2020), EMBASE (from 1980 to October 2020), the Cochrane Library (from 2020, issue 10), Scopus (from 1823 to October 2020), and 3 Chinese electronic databases, including Chinese Biomedical Literature Database (from 1995 to October 2020), WanFang (last searched October 2020), and China National Knowledge Infrastructure (last searched October 2020). This study will comprise randomized controlled trials (RCTs) that evaluate the effectiveness and safety of using endovascular coiling in the treatment of aneurysmal SAH. The articles in the databases will be independently screened by 2 authors to select potential studies, extract data, and evaluate the bias risk in the selected studies. This study will use suitable statistical methods to merge result data.
The results of this study will be useful in determining the efficacy and safety of endovascular coiling for treating patients with aneurysmal SAH.

Of 26 patients who completed chemoradiation, complete response was seen in 21 patients (80.76%) and partial response was seen in four patients (15.38%). In this experimental study, an imprinted poly-pyrrole was employed as an artificial receptor synthesized by electro-polymerization of pyrrole on screen-printed carbon electrodes in the presence of β-amyloid. β-amyloid acts as a molecular template within the polymer. The biosensor was evaluated by cyclic voltammetry using ferro/ferricyanide marker. The parameters influencing the biosensor performance, including electro-polymerization cycle umbers and β-amyloid binding time were optimized to achieve the best biosensor sensitivity.

Of 26 patients who completed chemoradiation, complete response was seen in 21 patients (80.76%) and partial response was seen in four patients (15.38%). Moreover, we investigate the method's robustness against noise and demonstrate the generalization capability for varying ratios of labeled data and on other challenging tasks, namely the hippocampus and skin lesion segmentation. UATS achieved superiority segmentation quality compared to the supervised baseline, particularly for minimal amounts of labeled data.The segmentation and analysis of coronary arteries from intravascular optical coherence tomography (IVOCT) is an important aspect of diagnosing and managing coronary artery disease. Current image processing methods are hindered by the time needed to generate expert-labelled datasets and the potential for bias during the analysis. Therefore, automated, robust, unbiased and timely geometry extraction from IVOCT, using image processing, would be beneficial to clinicians. With clinical application in mind, we aim to develop a model with a small memory footprint that is fast at inference time without sacrificing segmentation quality. Using a large IVOCT dataset of 12,011 expert-labelled images from 22 patients, we construct a new deep learning method based on capsules which automatically produces lumen segmentations. Our dataset contains images with both blood and light artefacts (22.8 %), as well as metallic (23.1 %) and bioresorbable stents (2.5 %). We split the dataset into a training (70 %), validation (20 %) and test (10 %) set and rigorously investigate design variations with respect to upsampling regimes and input selection. We show that our developments lead to a model, DeepCap, that is on par with state-of-the-art machine learning methods in terms of segmentation quality and robustness, while using as little as 12 % of the parameters. This enables DeepCap to have per image inference times up to 70 % faster on GPU and up to 95 % faster on CPU compared to other state-of-the-art models. The lumbar puncture showed an increased intracranial pressure. The brain MRI and magnetic resonance venography showed symmetrical lesions in the periventricular region and venous thrombosis in the right transverse sinus and the superior sagittal sinus. The sleep monitoring showed hypopnea.
