  • We performed this meta-analysis to assess the safety and efficacy of tracheoplasty for patients with pulmonary artery sling (PAS) and tracheal stenosis. Published studies that included surgical treatment of PAS and tracheal stenosis with and without tracheoplasty were identified by searching the PubMed, EMBASE, and Cochrane Library databases until May 2020. The outcomes assessed included postoperative ventilation time, early and late mortality, and follow-up respiratory symptoms. The mean difference (MD)/risk ratio (RR) with 95% confidence intervals (CI) was estimated with a random-effects/fixed-effects model. Subgroup analysis was performed stratified by percentage of patients with tracheal rings. A total of eight studies comprising 219 patients with PAS accompanied by tracheal stenosis were included. The pooled estimates of postoperative ventilation time (MD 17.68, 95% CI 6.38 to 28.98, p less then 0.01) and early mortality (RR 3.93, 95% CI 1.55 to 9.95, p less then 0.01) favored the repair-only group. Late mortality (RR 1.33, 95% CI 0.48 to 3.68, p = 0.58) and respiratory symptoms (RR 1.51, 95% CI 0.50 to 4.57, p = 0.47) at follow-up showed no significant differences between the groups with repair-only and repair with tracheoplasty. The same results were found in subgroup analyses. For the surgical treatment of PAS with tracheal stenosis, repair without tracheoplasty appears to result in shorter postoperative ventilation time and lower early mortality, with no increase in late mortality or respiratory symptoms at follow-up, compared with concomitant tracheoplasty.Purpose of review Epithelial ovarian cancer is a disease that encompasses a number of histologically and molecularly distinct entities; the most prevalent subtype being high-grade serous (HGS) carcinoma. Standard first-line treatment of advanced HGS carcinoma includes cytoreductive surgery plus intravenous paclitaxel/platinum-based chemotherapy. Despite excellent responses to initial treatment, the majority of patients develop recurrent disease within 3 years. The introduction of the vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) inhibitor, bevacizumab, and poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP) inhibitors into first-line management has changed the outlook for this lethal disease. In this review, we summarise the most recent clinical trials that determine current primary therapy of advanced HGS carcinoma and the ongoing trials that aim to change management in the future. Recent findings Recent phase III clinical trials have shown that delayed primary surgery after completing neo-adjuvant chemotherapy is non-inferior tthese highly efficacious targeted agents.Purpose The success of surgical treatment for idiopathic epiretinal membrane (ERM) is measured by postoperative best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA), metamorphopsia, and foveal retinal sensitivity (RS).This study searched for predictive biomarkers of surgical success by determining the association between foveal RS and various aspects of vessel density (VD) in the fovea of patients with ERM. Methods The study examined 25 eyes of 25 patients with ERM who underwent 27-gauge microincision vitrectomy surgery (MIVS). RS was measured with microperimetry (MP-3; NIDEK) at four central points in the fovea with an interpoint distance of 2°. VD was measured with SD-OCT (RS 3000; NIDEK) within the 1-mm2 square defined by the 4 RS points at various depths, including the superficial and deep retinal capillary plexus (SCP and DCP, respectively). Results Though VD did not change throughout the follow-up period, BCVA and RS significantly improved 1 and 3 months after surgery, respectively (both P less then 0.0017). Postoperative RS at 6 months was positively correlated with postoperative DCP VD at 1, 3, and 6 months (r = 0.62, P = 0.001; r = 0.40, P = 0.049; r = 0.53, P = 0.007, respectively), but not with SCP VD at any time point. Multiple regression analysis confirmed that postoperative RS at 6 months was associated with postoperative DCP VD at 1 month (P = 0.03). Conclusion Higher postoperative DCP VD at 1 month contributed to better postoperative foveal RS at 6 months. Early postoperative VD in the fovea might be a useful predictive biomarker of late postoperative RS in the fovea in ERM patients.Purpose We sought to compare choroidal vascular characteristics of central serous chorioretinopathy (CSC), polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy (PCV), and age-related macular degeneration (AMD) using quantitative analyses of ultra-widefield indocyanine green (UWF ICGA) images. Methods Eyes with CSC (n = 57), thick-choroid PCV (n = 29), thin-choroid PCV (n = 25), neovascular AMD (n = 45), and pachychoroid neovasculopathy (PNV) (n = 28) were enrolled. On UWF ICGA images, choroidal vascular density (CVD) was assessed using binarization in the total area, posterior pole, each quadrant, and vortex ampullae. Subfoveal choroidal thickness (SFCT) was measured using optical coherence tomography. Results The CVDs of thin-choroid PCV and typical AMD were lower than those of CSC (P = 0.002 and P less then 0.001, respectively; P = 0.010 and P = 0.016 when adjusted for age.), whereas the CVDs of CSC, thick-choroid PCV, and PNV did not differ from each other (all P ≥ 0.161; all P ≥ 0.424 when adjusted for age). The CVD of the total area showed a positive correlation with SFCT in each also a whole group (all P ≤ 0.001). Hirsutella sinensis was reported as the only correct anamorph of O. sinensis. It is reported that the laboratory-grown H. sinensis mycelium has similar clinical efficacy and less associated toxicity compared to the wild O. sinensis. The research of the H. sinensis is becoming more and more important and urgent. To gain deeper insight into the biological and pharmacological mechanisms, we sequenced the genome of H. sinensis. The genome of H. sinensis (102.72 Mb) was obtained for the first time, with > 99% coverage. 10,200 protein-encoding genes were predicted based on the genome sequence. A detailed secondary metabolism analysis and structure verification of the main ingredients were performed, and the biosynthesis pathways of seven ingredients (mannitol, cordycepin, purine nucleotides, pyrimidine nucleotides, unsaturated fatty acid, cordyceps polysaccharide and sphingolipid) were predicted and drawn.

  • PURPOSE To investigate the effect of early treatment of Class II division 1 malocclusion with T4K appliance on soft and hard tissue changes and prognosis of patients with mixed teeth. METHODS Twenty patients with Class II malocclusion, 11 males and 9 females, aged from 9 to 14 years, with an average age of 11.05 years, were selected. All patients were treated with T4K appliance for 12 months. The changes of soft and hard tissues before, 12 months after and 36 months after orthodontic treatment were measured and compared, to explore the stability of T4K appliance in the treatment of Class â…¡ division 1 malocclusion. The data were analyzed with SPSS 25.0 software package. RESULTS The hard tissue indexes U1-NA, U1-NA, L1-NB, L1-NB were significantly decreased (P0.0.5). CONCLUSIONS T4K appliance used for early treatment of Class â…¡ malocclusion can correct patients' poor oral habits, improve the relationship between oral and maxillofacial soft and hard tissues, with good long-term efficacy and stable curative effect.PURPOSE To explore and compare the clinical effects of delayed implantation and immediate implantation after minimally invasive extraction. METHODS Spiral CT scanning data of 48 patients (24 males and 24 females) were chosen for 3D reconstruction and divided into 3 groups(low-angle group, average-angle group and high-angle group) according to the size of the mandibular plane angle (FH-MP), 18 points at which the six planes of the zygomatic alveolar ridge on the left of the upper jaw intersected at 13, 15 and 17 mm above the baseline(the horizontal line of mesial buccal tip of the first maxillary molar) were measured. SPSS 17.0 software package was used for statistical analysis. RESULTS There was no significant difference between genders, there was significant difference among different vertical bone facial types (P less then 0.05), among which the low-angle group [(1331.65±185.70) HU] was the highest and the high-angle group [(1245.62±207.63) HU] was the lowest. There was significant difference in BMD between different sites in different vertical facial types and the sites with the highest BMD in each group were located at 17 mm above on the occlusion plane. Cross-sectional evaluation showed that the high-angle group was located at the level of the proximal and middle buccal root of the first molar, and the mean-angle group was located between the proximal and distal buccal root, and the low-angle group was located at the level of the distal buccal root of the first molar. CONCLUSIONS There was significant difference in density and distribution of bone cortex in zygomatic alveolar ridge between different vertical facial types in adults, which provides a reference basis for adults to select appropriate site of micro-implant anchorage and to ensure the stability of anchorage in orthodontic treatment.PURPOSE To explore the effect of cooperative training between doctors and nurses on improving the practical ability of micro-endodontics specialist nurses. METHODS Twenty-two nurses in the Department of Endodontics were trained by specialist directors and doctors. Before and after the training, theoretical and practical abilities of the trained nurses were assessed, and self-made questionnaires were used to investigate the training effect. The results were analyzed by SPSS 10.0 software package. RESUITS Twenty-two trained nurses were compared before and after training in theoretical knowledge and practical ability. Statistical analysis showed that the difference was statistically significant (P less then 0.05). Questionnaire survey showed that 95.5% of trained nurses believed that they could enhance the sense of solidarity and cooperation, 100% of trained nurses believed that they could increase the efficiency of operative therapy, 100% of doctors believed that medical and nursing cooperation training could increase the nursing skill proficiency of trained nurses, and the cooperation of trained nurses was predictable. CONCLUSIONS Cooperative training broadens the specialty knowledge of endodontic specialist nurses, improves their proficiency in cooperation with endodontic specialists and their tacit understanding with doctors, and evidently improves their theoretical and practical abilities.PURPOSE To investigate the correlation between high-risk tumor protein p53 (TP53) mutation and extracapsular spread(ECS) in oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC). METHODS The data of 88 OSCC patients admitted to Gansu Provincial People's Hospital from January 2013 to January 2016 were retrospectively analyzed. The patients were divided into non-lymph node metastasis group (A1), lymph node metastasis without ECS group (A2), lymph node metastasis with ECS group(A3) according to the presence or absence of lymph node metastasis. The deletion of exon 5-8 of TP53 gene in primary and metastatic lesions was detected. The correlation of ECS with disease-free survival(DFS), overall survival(OS) rate and TP53 mutation were determined, and single factor analysis of ECS was performed. The data were analyzed by SPSS 20.0 software package. RESULTS TP53 (5) homozygote deletion was found in all three groups. TP53 (6) homozygous deletion was found in group A3 (10/30). No homozygous deletion of TP53(7) was found in three groups.Homozygous deletion of TP53 (8) was found in group A2(7/42), group A3(10/30) and group A3(10/60).

  • The validation procedure demonstrated a LOD an LOQ of 1 and 100 pg/mg, respectively and acceptable linearity, repeatability and reproducibility. The hair of the 9 patients tested positive in the low ng/mg range with concentrations ranging from 0.3 to 3.8 ng/mg. Herein we present the zero-dimensional Rb 7 Sb 3 Cl 16 phase, which is comprised of isolated [SbCl 6 ] 3- octahedra and edge-sharing [Sb 2 Cl 10 ] 4- dimers and demonstrates room-temperature photoluminescence (RT PL) centered at 560 nm with a quantum yield of 3.8±0.2% at 296 K (99.4% at 77 K). Methods We searched in four different databases for the available trials during May 2020. We included randomized controlled trials (RCTs) that compared outpatient to inpatient balloon catheter for induction of labor. We extracted the available data from the included studies and pooled them in meta-analysis using RevMan software. The dichotomous data were pooled as risk ratio (RR) and the continuous data were pooled as mean difference (MD) with the corresponding 95% confidence intervals (CI).Our primary outcome was the rate of cesarean delivery. Our secondary outcomes were the length of hospital stay, Bishop score, and different adverse events including postpartum hemorrhage, Apgar score less than 7 at 5 minutes, and chorioamnionitis. Results Eight RCTs with a total number of 740patients were included. The cesarean delivery rate was significantly reduced among outpatient balloon catheter compared to inpatient balloon catheter (RR = 0.63, 95% CI [0.46, 0.86], p = 0.004). Outpatient balloon catheter was associated with shorter hospital stay duration in comparison with inpatient group (MD= -0.38, 95% CI [-0.61, -0.14], p = 0.002). Outpatient group was linked to a more favorable increase in Bishop score (MD = 0.88, 95% CI [0.78, 0.98], p>0.001). There were no significant differences between both groups regarding different adverse events. Results The dynamics of changes observed in the isotherm area during the therapy can provide physicians with additional information. The significant increase of observed isotherm area in comparison to the lesion area diagnosed by a physician was confirmed, which may be connected with the increased metabolism processes occurring in the tissue surrounded the lesion.   • Thirty-five patients had abnormal tear osmolarity and 40 patients were MMP-9 positive. DE indices differed between groups with abnormal and normal tear osmolarity (p less then 0.01), but not between positive and negative MMP-9 groups. There were 22 patients in group 1, 13 in group 2, 18 in group 3, and 10 in group 4. Compared to group 4, tear break-up time was shorter in groups 1 (p less then 0.01) and 2 (p = 0.02). Schirmer's test values in group 1 were lower than those in group 4 (p = 0.03). Ocular staining score was higher in groups 1 (p less then 0.01) and 2 (p less then 0.05) than in group 4. Conclusions Tear osmolarity was correlated with ocular surface indices in DE associated with SS. In situ injection of formable biodegradable hydrogel, however, has been demonstrated to treat T/L injury and reduce patient suffering in a minimally invasive manner. Injectable hydrogel is more suitable than other biological materials due to the special physiological structure of T/L. Most other materials utilized to repair T/L are cell-based, growth factor-based materials, with few material properties. In addition, the mechanical property of gel cannot reach the normal T/L level. This review summarizes advances in natural and synthetic polymeric injectable hydrogels for tissue engineering in T/L, and presents prospects for injectable and biodegradable hydrogels for its treatment. In future T/L applications, it is necessary develop an injectable hydrogel with mechanics, tissue-damage specific binding, and disease response. Methods Pericyte-specific deletion of senp1 **** (Cspg4-Cre; senp1f/f ) were used for brain function and neuronal damage evaluation following brain ischemia.     Thirty-five patients had abnormal tear osmolarity and 40 patients were MMP-9 positive. DE indices differed between groups with abnormal and normal tear osmolarity (p less then 0.01), but not between positive and negative MMP-9 groups. Injectable hydrogel is more suitable than other biological materials due to the special physiological structure of T/L. Most other materials utilized to repair T/L are cell-based, growth factor-based materials, with few material properties. In addition, the mechanical property of gel cannot reach the normal T/L level. This review summarizes advances in natural and synthetic polymeric injectable hydrogels for tissue engineering in T/L, and presents prospects for injectable and biodegradable hydrogels for its treatment. This study evaluates the impact of ENDS flavour manipulation on user's puffing behaviour, subjective experience, harm perception and nicotine exposure among college-aged ENDS users. Methods JUUL users (n=30, age 18 to 24 years) attended two 60 min ad libitum ENDS use sessions (JUUL preferred flavour vs JUUL classic tobacco flavour) in a cross-over design. Puff topography and plasma nicotine concentration were measured, and participants completed subjective experience questionnaires. Results Increases were observed on measures of satisfaction, taste, enjoyment, urges to vape/smoke, pleasure, product appeal and increased concentration following using the preferred flavour pod (p values less then 0.05). Compared with preferred flavour, participants in the tobacco flavour were less motivated to use it in the future (70.9 vs 19.1 scores, p less then 0.001), even if it was the only product on the market (75.8 vs 30.7 scores, p less then 0.001). While nicotine levels significantly increased in both conditions from pre to post session (p values less then 0.001), no significant differences were observed in nicotine boost levels or on puff topography parameters when comparing both flavour conditions. Conclusions This pilot study provides evidence that ENDS flavours have a substantial effect in enhancing young current ENDS users' experiences, product appeal and motivation to use the product in the future. Methods Using data from multiple sources, the adult (≥18 years) population in England was separated into subgroups by smoking and highest educational qualification (HEQ). A discrete time state-transition model was used to project future smoking prevalence by HEQ deterministically and stochastically. Results In a status quo scenario, smoking prevalence in England is projected to be 10.8% (95% uncertainty interval 9.1% to 12.9%) by 2022, 7.8% (5.5% to 11.0%) by 2030 and 6.0% (3.7% to 9.6%) by 2040. The absolute difference in smoking rate between low and high HEQ is reduced from 12.2% in 2016 to 7.9% by 2030, but the relative inequality (low/high HEQ ratio) is increased from 2.48 in 2016 to 3.06 by 2030. When applying 2016 initiation/relapse rates, achievement of the TFA target requires no changes to future cessation rates among adults with high qualifications, but increased rates of 37% and 149%, respectively, in adults with intermediate and low qualifications. Conclusions If the current trends continue, smoking prevalence in England is projected to decline in the future, but with substantial differences across socioeconomic groups. Absolute inequalities in smoking are likely to decline and relative inequalities in smoking are likely to increase in future. Repeating this process using 2018 data estimates the number of future deaths of youth ages 0-17 in 2018. A hypothetical estimate for 2024 assumes continuation of the 2012-2018 smoking prevalence decrease. Several recent studies have shown that depth filters can also reduce the concentration of smaller impurities like host cell proteins (HCP) and DNA, decreasing the burden on subsequent chromatographic operations. The objective of this study was to evaluate the HCP removal properties of the Pall PDH4 depth filter media, a model depth filter containing diatomaceous earth, cellulose fibers, and a binder. Experiments were performed with both cell culture fluid (CCF) and a series of model proteins with defined pI, molecular weight, and hydrophobicity chosen to match the range of typical HCP. The location of adsorbed (fluorescently-labeled) proteins within the depth filters was determined using confocal scanning laser microscopy. Protein binding was greater for proteins that were positively-charged and more hydrophobic, consistent with adsorption to the negatively-charged diatomaceous earth. The lowest degree of binding was seen with proteins near their pI, which were poorly removed by this filter. These results provide new mechanistic insights into the factors governing the filter capacity and performance characteristics of depth filters containing diatomaceous earth that are widely used in the clarification of CCF.Acetylcholine (ACh) signaling in the hippocampus, is important for behaviors related to learning, memory and stress. In this study, we investigated the role of two ACh receptor subtypes previously shown to be involved in fear and anxiety, the M1 mAChR and the α2 nAChR, in mediating the effects of hippocampal ACh on stress-related behaviors. Adeno-associated viral vectors containing short-hairpin RNAs targeting M1 or α2 were infused into the hippocampus of male C57BL/6J ****, and behavior in a number of paradigms related to stress responses and fear learning was evaluated. There were no robust effects of hippocampal M1 mAChR or α2 nAChR knockdown in the light/dark box, tail suspension, forced swim or novelty-suppressed feeding tests. E. coli entry into the brain occurs in the meningeal and cortex capillaries, not in the choroid plexus, and exploits epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) and cysteinyl leukotrienes (CysLTs) for invasion of the blood-brain barrier. The present study examined whether EGFR and CysLTs are inter-related in their contribution to E. coli invasion of the blood-brain barrier and whether counteracting EGFR and CysLTs is a beneficial adjunct to antibiotic therapy of E. coli meningitis. We showed that (a) meningitis isolates of E. coli exploit EGFR and CysLTs for invasion of the blood-brain barrier, (b) the contribution of EGFR is upstream of that of CysLTs, and (c) counteracting EGFR and CysLTs as an adjunctive therapy improved the outcome (survival, neuronal injury and memory impairment) of animals with E. coli meningitis. These findings suggest that investigation of host factors contributing to E. coli invasion of the blood-brain barrier will help in enhancing the pathogenesis and development of new therapeutic targets for E. coli meningitis in the era of increasing resistance to conventional antibiotics. Several recent studies have shown that depth filters can also reduce the concentration of smaller impurities like host cell proteins (HCP) and DNA, decreasing the burden on subsequent chromatographic operations. The objective of this study was to evaluate the HCP removal properties of the Pall PDH4 depth filter media, a model depth filter containing diatomaceous earth, cellulose fibers, and a binder. Experiments were performed with both cell culture fluid (CCF) and a series of model proteins with defined pI, molecular weight, and hydrophobicity chosen to match the range of typical HCP. The location of adsorbed (fluorescently-labeled) proteins within the depth filters was determined using confocal scanning laser microscopy. Protein binding was greater for proteins that were positively-charged and more hydrophobic, consistent with adsorption to the negatively-charged diatomaceous earth. The lowest degree of binding was seen with proteins near their pI, which were poorly removed by this filter. These results provide new mechanistic insights into the factors governing the filter capacity and performance characteristics of depth filters containing diatomaceous earth that are widely used in the clarification of CCF.Acetylcholine (ACh) signaling in the hippocampus, is important for behaviors related to learning, memory and stress. In this study, we investigated the role of two ACh receptor subtypes previously shown to be involved in fear and anxiety, the M1 mAChR and the α2 nAChR, in mediating the effects of hippocampal ACh on stress-related behaviors. Adeno-associated viral vectors containing short-hairpin RNAs targeting M1 or α2 were infused into the hippocampus of male C57BL/6J mice, and behavior in a number of paradigms related to stress responses and fear learning was evaluated. There were no robust effects of hippocampal M1 mAChR or α2 nAChR knockdown in the light/dark box, tail suspension, forced swim or novelty-suppressed feeding tests. However, effects on fear learning were observed in both knockdown groups. Short term learning was intact immediately after training in all groups of mice, but both the M1 and α2 hippocampal knock down resulted in impaired cued fear conditioning 24 hours after training. In addition, there was a trend for a deficit in contextual memory the M1 mAChR knockdown (KD) group 24 hours after training. These results suggest that α2 nicotinic and M1 muscarinic ACh receptors in the hippocampus contribute to fear learning and could be relevant targets to modify brain circuits involved in stress-induced reactivity to associated cues.Escherichia coli is the most common Gram-negative bacillary organism causing neonatal meningitis. E. coli meningitis remains an important cause of mortality and morbidity, but the pathogenesis of E. coli penetration of the blood-brain barrier remains incompletely understood. E. coli entry into the brain occurs in the meningeal and cortex capillaries, not in the choroid plexus, and exploits epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) and cysteinyl leukotrienes (CysLTs) for invasion of the blood-brain barrier. The present study examined whether EGFR and CysLTs are inter-related in their contribution to E. coli invasion of the blood-brain barrier and whether counteracting EGFR and CysLTs is a beneficial adjunct to antibiotic therapy of E. coli meningitis. We showed that (a) meningitis isolates of E. coli exploit EGFR and CysLTs for invasion of the blood-brain barrier, (b) the contribution of EGFR is upstream of that of CysLTs, and (c) counteracting EGFR and CysLTs as an adjunctive therapy improved the outcome (survival, neuronal injury and memory impairment) of animals with E. coli meningitis. These findings suggest that investigation of host factors contributing to E. coli invasion of the blood-brain barrier will help in enhancing the pathogenesis and development of new therapeutic targets for E. coli meningitis in the era of increasing resistance to conventional antibiotics. The primary end point was the objective response, according to independent central review. Secondary end points included overall survival, response duration, progressimonitis (grade 1 or 2 in 9 patients and grade 3 or 4 in 3), as adjudicated by an independent committee. One drug-related death (due to pneumonia) was noted in the trastuzumab deruxtecan group; no drug-related deaths occurred in the physician's choice group. Dutasteride is a 5α-reductase inhibitor that is used for benign prostate hypertrophy and androgenetic alopecia. To date, CVT caused by dutasteride use has not been reported. A 25-year-old male presented with headache and diplopia. He had taken 0.5 mg of dutasteride every other day for 9 months to treat alopecia. A headache developed 7 months after he started taking medication, and horizontal diplopia occurred 1 month after the onset of headache. Fundus examination showed bilateral papilledema. Brain magnetic resonance imaging showed thrombosis in the left sigmoid and transverse sinuses. Headache and diplopia improved after discontinuing dutasteride and starting anticoagulation. The results from this case report indicated dutasteride as a potential cause of CVT. Presumably, the increased estrogen level due to dutasteride use caused the formation of a thrombus.Fascicular involvement of the median nerve trunk in the upper arm is uncommon in cases of peripheral neuropathy, and its symptoms are consistent with those of anterior interosseous nerve (AIN) syndrome. Two Micro-Orifice Uniform Deposit Impactors (MOUDI) were deployed at Manila Observatory in Quezon City, Metro Manila with samples collected on a weekly basis for water-soluble speciation and mass quantification. Additional sets were collected for gravimetric and black carbon analysis, including during special events such as holidays. The unique aspect of the presented data is a year-long record with weekly frequency of size-resolved aerosol composition in a highly populated megacity where there is a lack of measurements. The data are suitable for research to understand the sources, evolution, and fate of atmospheric aerosols, as well as studies focusing on phenomena such as aerosol-cloud-precipitation-meteorology interactions, regional climate, boundary layer processes, and health effects. The dataset can be used to initialize, validate, and/or improve models and remote sensing algorithms.The EU Emission Trading System (ETS) is the oldest and currently the largest carbon market in the world, but its purpose of stimulating carbon emissions via trading profits remains unexamined. Based on the complete firm-level transaction records of the EU ETS Phases I and II, here we show that the participating firms' trading profits and their emission abatements are positively correlated, and the correlation becomes stronger in Phase II than Phase I. Specifically, we observe that non-linearity exists in the correlation; higher firm-level emission abatements can realize larger trading profits. This pattern affects the market fairness, though it may be helpful to incentivise emission abatements. The correlation is more regulated in Phase II than it is in Phase I, thereby indicating that the Phase II is more mature. We also observe that the state-level abatements are largely driven by industrial giants.The blood-cerebrospinal fluid barrier (BCSFB) is a highly dynamic transport interface that serves brain homeostasis. To date, however, understanding of its role in brain development and pathology has been hindered by the absence of a non-invasive technique for functional assessment. Here we describe a method for non-invasive measurement of BSCFB function by using tracer-free MRI to quantify rates of water delivery from arterial blood to ventricular cerebrospinal fluid. Using this method, we record a 36% decrease in BCSFB function in aged ****, compared to a 13% decrease in parenchymal blood flow, itself a leading candidate biomarker of early neurodegenerative processes. We then apply the method to explore the relationship between BCSFB function and ventricular morphology. Finally, we provide proof of application to the human brain. Here we describe the first comprehensive AS landscape in the spectrum of human prostate cancer (PCa) evolution. We find that the severity of splicing dysregulation correlates with disease progression and establish intron retention as a hallmark of PCa stemness and aggressiveness. Systematic interrogation of 274 splicing-regulatory genes (SRGs) uncovers prevalent genomic copy number variations (CNVs), leading to mis-expression of ~68% of SRGs during PCa development and progression. Consequently, many SRGs are prognostic. Surprisingly, androgen receptor controls a splicing program distinct from its transcriptional regulation. The spliceosome modulator, E7107, reverses cancer aggressiveness and inhibits castration-resistant PCa (CRPC) in xenograft and autochthonous PCa models. Altogether, our studies establish aberrant AS landscape caused by dysregulated SRGs as a hallmark of PCa aggressiveness and the spliceosome as a therapeutic vulnerability for CRPC.Sodium-ion batteries are a promising battery technology for their cost and sustainability. This has led to increasing interest in the development of new sodium-ion batteries and new analytical methods to non-invasively, directly visualise battery chemistry. Here we report operando 1H and 23Na nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy and imaging experiments to observe the speciation and distribution of sodium in the electrode and electrolyte during sodiation and desodiation of hard carbon in a sodium metal cell and a sodium-ion full-cell configuration. The evolution of the hard carbon sodiation and subsequent formation and evolution of sodium dendrites, upon over-sodiation of the hard carbon, are observed and mapped by 23Na nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy and imaging, and their three-dimensional microstructure visualised by 1H magnetic resonance imaging. We also observe, for the first time, the formation of metallic sodium species on hard carbon upon first charge (formation) in a full-cell configuration.Driving range and fast charge capability of electric vehicles are heavily dependent on the 3D microstructure of lithium-ion batteries (LiBs) and substantial fundamental research is required to optimise electrode design for specific operating conditions. Here we have developed a full microstructure-resolved 3D model using a novel X-ray nano-computed tomography (CT) dual-scan superimposition technique that captures features of the carbon-binder domain. This elucidates how LiB performance is markedly affected by microstructural heterogeneities, particularly under high rate conditions. The elongated shape and wide size distribution of the active particles not only affect the lithium-ion transport but also lead to a heterogeneous current distribution and non-uniform lithiation between particles and along the through-thickness direction. Building on these insights, we propose and compare potential graded-microstructure designs for next-generation battery electrodes. Two Micro-Orifice Uniform Deposit Impactors (MOUDI) were deployed at Manila Observatory in Quezon City, Metro Manila with samples collected on a weekly basis for water-soluble speciation and mass quantification. Additional sets were collected for gravimetric and black carbon analysis, including during special events such as holidays. The unique aspect of the presented data is a year-long record with weekly frequency of size-resolved aerosol composition in a highly populated megacity where there is a lack of measurements. The data are suitable for research to understand the sources, evolution, and fate of atmospheric aerosols, as well as studies focusing on phenomena such as aerosol-cloud-precipitation-meteorology interactions, regional climate, boundary layer processes, and health effects. The dataset can be used to initialize, validate, and/or improve models and remote sensing algorithms.The EU Emission Trading System (ETS) is the oldest and currently the largest carbon market in the world, but its purpose of stimulating carbon emissions via trading profits remains unexamined. Based on the complete firm-level transaction records of the EU ETS Phases I and II, here we show that the participating firms' trading profits and their emission abatements are positively correlated, and the correlation becomes stronger in Phase II than Phase I. Specifically, we observe that non-linearity exists in the correlation; higher firm-level emission abatements can realize larger trading profits. This pattern affects the market fairness, though it may be helpful to incentivise emission abatements. The correlation is more regulated in Phase II than it is in Phase I, thereby indicating that the Phase II is more mature. We also observe that the state-level abatements are largely driven by industrial giants.The blood-cerebrospinal fluid barrier (BCSFB) is a highly dynamic transport interface that serves brain homeostasis. To date, however, understanding of its role in brain development and pathology has been hindered by the absence of a non-invasive technique for functional assessment. Here we describe a method for non-invasive measurement of BSCFB function by using tracer-free MRI to quantify rates of water delivery from arterial blood to ventricular cerebrospinal fluid. Using this method, we record a 36% decrease in BCSFB function in aged mice, compared to a 13% decrease in parenchymal blood flow, itself a leading candidate biomarker of early neurodegenerative processes. We then apply the method to explore the relationship between BCSFB function and ventricular morphology. Finally, we provide proof of application to the human brain. Our findings position the BCSFB as a promising new diagnostic and therapeutic target, the function of which can now be safely quantified using non-invasive MRI.The role of dysregulation of mRNA alternative splicing (AS) in the development and progression of solid tumors remains to be defined. Here we describe the first comprehensive AS landscape in the spectrum of human prostate cancer (PCa) evolution. We find that the severity of splicing dysregulation correlates with disease progression and establish intron retention as a hallmark of PCa stemness and aggressiveness. Systematic interrogation of 274 splicing-regulatory genes (SRGs) uncovers prevalent genomic copy number variations (CNVs), leading to mis-expression of ~68% of SRGs during PCa development and progression. Consequently, many SRGs are prognostic. Surprisingly, androgen receptor controls a splicing program distinct from its transcriptional regulation. The spliceosome modulator, E7107, reverses cancer aggressiveness and inhibits castration-resistant PCa (CRPC) in xenograft and autochthonous PCa models. Altogether, our studies establish aberrant AS landscape caused by dysregulated SRGs as a hallmark of PCa aggressiveness and the spliceosome as a therapeutic vulnerability for CRPC.Sodium-ion batteries are a promising battery technology for their cost and sustainability. The evolution of the hard carbon sodiation and subsequent formation and evolution of sodium dendrites, upon over-sodiation of the hard carbon, are observed and mapped by 23Na nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy and imaging, and their three-dimensional microstructure visualised by 1H magnetic resonance imaging. We also observe, for the first time, the formation of metallic sodium species on hard carbon upon first charge (formation) in a full-cell configuration.Driving range and fast charge capability of electric vehicles are heavily dependent on the 3D microstructure of lithium-ion batteries (LiBs) and substantial fundamental research is required to optimise electrode design for specific operating conditions. Here we have developed a full microstructure-resolved 3D model using a novel X-ray nano-computed tomography (CT) dual-scan superimposition technique that captures features of the carbon-binder domain. This elucidates how LiB performance is markedly affected by microstructural heterogeneities, particularly under high rate conditions. The elongated shape and wide size distribution of the active particles not only affect the lithium-ion transport but also lead to a heterogeneous current distribution and non-uniform lithiation between particles and along the through-thickness direction. Building on these insights, we propose and compare potential graded-microstructure designs for next-generation battery electrodes. To guide manufacturing of electrode architectures, in-situ X-ray CT is shown to reliably reveal the porosity and tortuosity changes with incremental calendering steps.

Hyperbilirubinemia, anemia, thrombocytopenia, prolonged prothrombin time, hypofibrinogenemia, decreased prothrombin activity, and increased fibrinogen degradation product and D-dimer were confirmed by blood analysis; multiple focal hypodense lesions in liver was detected by abdominal computed tomography. Liver failure and Kasabach-Merritt syndrome induced by hepatic hemangioma was diagnosed before operation and liver transplantation was performed. Hepatic angiosarcoma was finally proven by postoperative pathology. This patient died of tumor metastasis 2 months after operation. CONCLUSIONS Hepatic angiosarcoma which can generate Kasabach-Merritt syndrome and even liver failure has an extremely poor prognosis; liver transplantation option should not be considered in hepatic angiosarcoma regardless of the reason.BACKGROUND Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy (PEG) feeding tubes are frequently placed in patients to provide enteral nutrition. We report a case of a complete rupture of a PEG tube intra-abdominally with associated peritonitis after more than a month of PEG placement and utilization. To our knowledge, this is a very rare case of a complete PEG rupture with the succeeding replacement and recovery of the fractured segments conservatively. CASE PRESENTATION A 69-year-old female with a PEG in position and in use for more than a month started complaining of severe abdominal pain. Digital subtraction angiography (DSA) tubogram revealed rupture and separation of the PEG tube into two fragments. Interventional radiology (IR) team was successful with their conservative approach. Both fragments were removed conservatively without the need for laparotomy. The distal fragment was utilized to place a guide wire, and a new PEG was placed in position with no intraabdominal leak. CONCLUSION Ruptured PEG tube should be considered in the differential of patients complaining of sudden abdominal pain, especially after chronic PEG utilization. The Physical Frailty Phenotype was used to explore the AMPI-AB's concurrent validity. Predictive validity was assessed with mortality, worsening of the functional status, hospitalizations a median age of 72 (85-64) years, 63.5% female. The AMPI-AB also had good interrater (ICC = 0.87, 95%CI = 0.78-0.92), test-retest (ICC = 0.86, 95%CI = 0.76-0.93) and proxy reliability (ICC = 0.84, 95%CI = 0.67-0.93). The Cronbach's alpha was 0.69, and the mean AMPI-AB administration time was 0544 ± 0242 min. Totally 114 patients with advanced OSCC admitted to our hospital were selected as the study subjects, all of whom received docetaxel, cisplatin and 5-fluorouracil (TPF) induction chemotherapy. In addition, another 80 healthy subjects who underwent physical examination in our hospital from the same period were enrolled. The serum expression of miR-92b was detected by qRT-PCR. Serum miR-92b was up-regulated in patients with advanced OSCC, and its expression was associated with higher TNM staging and lymph node metastasis. The receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve revealed that the area under the curve (AUC) of serum miR-92b for the diagnosis of advanced OSCC was 0.931. After treatment, the miR-92b expression was significantly reduced, and the ROC curve showed an AUC value of 0.889 for predicting treatment sensitivity of serum miR-92b. What's more, Logistic indicated that TNM staging, lymph node metastasis and serum miR-92b expression were independent risk factors affecting the treatment efficacy. Survival analysis demonstrated that OSCC patients with high miR-92b expression had poorer OS and DFS compared to patients with low miR-92b expression. The isoprenoid quinone was MK-7. Based on the phenotypic, chemotaxonomic and genotypic data, the strain represents a novel species within the genus Sunxiuqinia, for which the name Sunxiuqinia indica sp. nov. is proposed.
