    The diagnosis and etiology of multiple primary malignant neoplasms (MPMNs) are difficult to establish. Here, we report a case of heterochronic triple primary malignancies with gastric cancer, nasopharyngeal squamous cell cancer, and then rectal cancer.

Recently, a mass in the middle of the rectum was resected and reported as ulcerative, moderately to poorly differentiated adenocarcinoma. Secondary PAP is generally associated with hematological malignancies including chronic myelomonocytic leukemia (CMML). To the best of our knowledge, this is the first reported case of PAP occurring secondary to CMML.

    We report the case of a 63-year-old male who presented with a recurrent cough and gradually progressive dyspnea in the absence of fever. Based upon clinical symptoms, computed tomography findings, bone marrow aspiration, flow cytometry studies and cytogenetic analyses, the patient was diagnosed with PAP secondary to CMML. He underwent whole lung lavage in March 2016 to alleviate his dyspnea, after which he began combined chemotherapeutic treatment with decitabine and cytarabine. The patient died in January 2020 as a consequence of severe pulmonary infection.

We compared the 10-year invasive disease free survival (iDFS), breast cancer specific-survival (BCSS) and overall survival (OS) and assessed the effect of the type of adjuvant chemotherapy on these outcomes using Cox regression. Of the 726 eligible patients, 657 (90.5%) were treated with DC4 and 69 (9.5%) were treated with AT.     This is a multi-center, cross-sectional study involving 11 psychiatric hospitals in China. Three types of sleep disturbance (difficulty initiating sleep (DIS), difficulty maintaining sleep (DMS) and early-morning awakening (EMA)) and QOL were measured by standardized questions or instruments.

    A total of 1,847 psychiatric nurses participated. Being cryptic and occurring at low population densities, obtaining an unbiased population estimate is difficult in large carnivores. To overcome the uncertainties in the conventional capture-recapture (CR) methods used to estimate large carnivore densities, more robust methods such as spatially explicit capture-recapture (SECR) framework are now widely used. We modeled the CR data of tiger (Panthera tigris tigris) and leopard (Panthera pardus fusca) in the SECR framework with biotic and abiotic covariates likely believed to influence their densities. An effort of 2,211 trap nights resulted in the capture of 33 and 38 individual tigers and leopards. A total of 95 and 74 detections of tigers and leopards were achieved using 35 pairs of camera traps. Tiger and leopard density were estimated at 4.71 ± 1.20 (3.05-5.11) and 3.03 ± 0.78 (1.85-4.99) per 100 km2. Our results show that leopard density increased with high road density, high terrain ruggedness and habitats with high percentage of cropland and natural vegetation. The tiger density was positively influenced by the mosaic of cropland and natural vegetation. This study provides the first robust density estimates of tiger and leopard within the study area.     As the COVID-19 pandemic has posed substantial impacts on individual's daily routine and psychological state. For the first time at great scale, Chinese college students had their educational activities moved online in spring 2020. Due to this unexpected isolation and unconventional learning method, their mental health following returning to school is worth investigating.

    Between June 1 and June 15, 2020, a total of 8,921 returning college students' mental health status were assessed using instruments designed for psychiatric disorders, namely the 9-Item Patient Heath Questionnaire (PHQ-9), 7-Item Generalized Anxiety Disorder Scale (GAD-7), 6-Item Impact of Event Scale (IES-6), Youth Self Rating Insomnia Scale (YSIS), and self-developed questionnaire.

    Our results showed that 8.7%, 4.2%, 10.5%, and 6.1% of the participants experienced depression, anxiety, acute stress, and insomnia, respectively, with a total of 19.8% reporting having at least one psychiatric symptom following their return to school. Sophomore and Senior year, and presence of previous psychiatric conditions contribute to the increased occurrence of psychiatric issues. The level of impact by COVID-19 on one's daily functioning is also positively associated with poor mental health.

    Our findings suggested no significant increase in the prevalence of psychiatric symptoms, following the first batch of students' return to school. These findings aim to complement the current understanding of the psychiatric impact of COVID-19 on students and assist school principals to plan their return-to-school approaches in a mental-health sensitive way.

    A total of 8,940 adolescents (45.77% males; Mean age=15.31±0.018 years old) and their parents (24.34% males; Mean age=40.78±0.60 years old) from Shenyang, Liaoning Province, China, participated in the survey and completed several questionnaires online. We used the Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9) and the Family Adaptability Cohesion Scale, Second Edition, Chinese version (FACES II-CV) to evaluate depressive symptoms and family cohesion and family adaptability from the perception of parents and adolescents.

    We investigated the effects of CORT (20mg oral cortisol) on functional connectivity during emotion processing in women with depression. Participants included 75 women with no depression or a depressive disorder. In a double-blind, crossover study, we used functional magnetic resonance imaging to measure effects of CORT vs. placebo on task-based functional connectivity during presentation of emotionally-laden images. We performed psychophysiological interaction (PPI) to test interactions among depression severity, cortisol administration, and task-dependent functional connectivity using the hippocampus and amygdala as seeds.

For the first time at great scale, Chinese college students had their educational activities moved online in spring 2020. Due to this unexpected isolation and unconventional learning method, their mental health following returning to school is worth investigating.

    Between June 1 and June 15, 2020, a total of 8,921 returning college students' mental health status were assessed using instruments designed for psychiatric disorders, namely the 9-Item Patient Heath Questionnaire (PHQ-9), 7-Item Generalized Anxiety Disorder Scale (GAD-7), 6-Item Impact of Event Scale (IES-6), Youth Self Rating Insomnia Scale (YSIS), and self-developed questionnaire.

    Our results showed that 8.7%, 4.2%, 10.5%, and 6.1% of the participants experienced depression, anxiety, acute stress, and insomnia, respectively, with a total of 19.8% reporting having at least one psychiatric symptom following their return to school. Sophomore and Senior year, and presence of previous psychiatric conditions contribute to the increased occurrence of psychiatric issues. The level of impact by COVID-19 on one's daily functioning is also positively associated with poor mental health.

  • In this review, we summarize Duman's original findings and discuss the current state of the field of neurogenesis with respect to animal models and human studies and the implications of those findings on the field of drug discovery.In this paper, a robust global fast terminal attractor based full flight trajectory tracking control law has been developed for the available regular form which is operated under matched uncertainties. Based on the hierarchical control principle, the aforesaid model is first subdivided into two subsystems, i.e., a fully-actuated subsystem and an under-actuated subsystem. In other words, the under-actuated subsystem is further transformed into a regular form whereby the under-actuated characteristics are decoupled in terms of control inputs. In the proposed design, the nonlinear drift terms, which certainly varies in full flight, are estimated via functional link neural networks to improve the performance of the controller in full flight. Besides, a variable gain robust exact differentiator (VG-RED) is designed to provide us with estimated flight velocities. It has consequently reduced the noise in system's velocities and has mapped this controller as a practical one. The finite-time sliding mode enforcement and the states' convergence are shown, for all flight loops, i.e., forward flight and backward flight, via the Lyapunov approach. All these claims are verified via numerical simulations and experimental implementation of the quadcopter system in a Matlab environment. For a more impressive presentation, the developed simulation results are compared with standard literature.

    Meta-tasking (MT) is an aspect of executive functioning (EF) that involves the ability to branch (i.e., to apply "if-then" rules) and to effectively interleave sub-goals of one task with sub-goals of another task. As such, MT is crucial for successful planning, coordination, and execution of multiple complex tasks in daily life. Traditional tests of EF fail to adequately measure MT. This study examined whether Condition 4 of the Color-Word Interference Test (CWIT-4; the inhibition/switching condition that requires branching) predicted MT beyond Condition 3 (CWIT-3; inhibition-only condition) and beyond other subtests from the Delis-Kaplan Executive Function System (D-KEFS) that have a switching condition.

Hence, to improve attendance and early initiation of ANC, interventions should be targeted at empowering women financially and removing all financial barriers associated with accessing ANC, improving ANC education among women and encouraging male involvement in ANC education.
    Refugees and asylum-seekers are typically exposed to multiple potentially traumatic events (PTEs) in the context of war, persecution and displacement, which confer elevated risk for psychopathology. There are significant limitations, however, in extant approaches to measuring these experiences in refugees. The current study aimed to identify profiles of PTE exposure, and the associations between these profiles and key demographics, contextual factors (including ongoing stressors, method of travel to Australia and separation from family), mental health and social outcomes, in a large sample of refugees resettled in Australia.

Food security and dietary data were collected by an interviewer-administered questionnaire. Hb levels were measured using a HemoCue, and anaemia was classified as an altitude-adjusted haemoglobin level < 12·5 g/dl. Body size and composition were assessed using anthropometry and dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry. The urban township of Soweto, Johannesburg, South Africa. Non-pregnant women aged 18-25 years (n 1534). Almost half of the women were overweight or obese (44 %), and 9 % were underweight. Almost a third of women were anaemic (30 %).   • We report here a near-infrared (NIR) emitting lanthanide-based metal-organic framework (MOF) in which Yb3+ are sensitized by fluorescein (FL) as a low energy absorbing chromophore (FL@CD-MOF-161). The unique design of CD-MOF-161 allows for the entrapment of FL molecules in its pores during the synthesis and crystal growth, ensuring the efficient loading and spreading of chromophores within the crystal volume.
    Suboptimal bowel cleansing is common in children and can impact diagnostic and therapeutic outcomes. We aimed to identify risk factors for suboptimal bowel preparation for colonoscopy in pediatric patients.

    This was a retrospective study of all patients ages 0 to 21 years who underwent colonoscopy at a children's hospital from 2015 to 2019 in the United States. Demographics and clinical information were obtained from the electronic health record. The primary outcome was suboptimal bowel preparation measured by the endoscopist on a dichotomized Aronchik Scale. Univariate and multivariate regression modeling were used to determine independent predictors of suboptimal preparation.

    Nine hundred and eight patients (mean age 12.17 years [±5.14], boys 465 (51.2%), were included in the analysis. Suboptimal preparation was noted in 242 (26.7%). On univariate analysis, suboptimal preparation was more common in those of younger age (38.6%), Medicaid (32.1%), Spanish as primary language (35.7%), and failure to thri risk factors as well as highlight distinct associations from those reported in the adult literature including FTT and younger age. IBD was associated with optimal cleansing. Future research to understand the mechanisms of inferred risk or potential protection is required.

During follow-up, he developed cholelithiasis treated with cholecystectomy, and an intracranial hemorrhage resolved with full recovery. At last, evaluation at the age of 18 months, he was not jaundiced and had normal liver tests, but experienced from moderate pruritus despite treatment with rifampicin and ursodeoxycholic acid. A genetic study revealed novel homozygous mutations c.1687_1688delinsC p.Ser563Profs∗25 in the USP53 gene. His parents carried the same heterozygous mutation in the USP53 gene.

    There are limited data on the natural history of chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection in Asian American children. The aim of the present study was to describe a single-center experience of chronic HBV infection in Chinese American patients in New York City.

    A retrospective chart review was conducted for patients with chronic HBV infection who had pediatric visits from 2006 to 2017. Clinical and laboratory data were collected to characterize the status of HBV infection and its disease course both cross-sectionally and longitudinally. Available maternal charts were reviewed.

    Of the total 353 patients, 72 patients (20%) were US-born. Positive hepatitis B envelope antigen (HBeAg) was documented in 208 patients (58%). Three phases of chronic HBV infection were categorized for 329 patients immune-tolerant 112 (34%), HBeAg-positive immune-active 47 (14%), and inactive carrier 82 (25%). The remaining 88 patients (27%) did not fit into a particular category with 26 of 88 patients meeting the criteria for inactive carrier except for mildly elevated alanine aminotransferase. Age and liver enzyme levels were significantly different between HBeAg-positive and HBeAg-negative groups (P < 0.05). Among 179 patients followed for ≥5 years, the spontaneous seroconversion rate was 38%. In eight patients with linked maternal data, all children completed the HBV vaccine series and seven of eight received hepatitis B immunoglobulin. All mothers were HBeAg-positive with high HBV DNA and had no anti-viral therapy during pregnancy.

In this Review Article, we discuss recent progress in the development of miniaturized and ultralightweight devices as neuroengineering platforms that are wireless, battery-free and fully implantable, with capabilities that match or exceed those of wired or battery-powered alternatives. Such classes of advanced neural interfaces with optical, electrical or fluidic functionality can also combine recording and stimulation modalities for closed-loop applications in basic studies or in the practical treatment of abnormal physiological processes.Contrast agents for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) improve anatomical visualizations. However, owing to poor image resolution in whole-body MRI, resolving fine structures is challenging. Here, we report that a nanoparticle with a polysaccharide supramolecular core and a shell of amorphous-like hydrous ferric oxide generating strong T1 MRI contrast (with a relaxivity coefficient ratio of ~1.2) facilitates the imaging, at resolutions of the order of a few hundred micrometres, of cerebral, coronary and peripheral microvessels in rodents and of lower-extremity vessels in rabbits. ICI-induced inflammatory arthritis is distinguished from other irAEs by its persistence and requirement for long-term treatment. TNF inhibitors are commonly used to treat inflammatory diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, spondyloarthropathies and inflammatory bowel disease, and have also been adopted as second-line agents to treat irAEs refractory to glucocorticoid treatment. Experiencing an irAE is associated with a better antitumour response after ICI treatment. However, whether TNF inhibition can be safely used to treat irAEs without promoting cancer progression, either by compromising ICI therapy efficacy or via another route, remains an open question. In this Review, we discuss clinical and preclinical studies that address the relationship between TNF, TNF inhibition and cancer. The bulk of the evidence suggests that at least short courses of TNF inhibitors are safe for the treatment of irAEs in patients with cancer undergoing ICI therapy. We review recent discoveries of both inorganic and organic materials with ultrahigh and low thermal conductivity, highlighting heat-conduction physics, strategies used to change thermal conductivity, and future directions to achieve extreme thermal conductivities in solid-state materials.Layered oxides widely used as lithium-ion battery electrodes are designed to be cycled under conditions that avoid phase transitions. Here, we show that the apparent phase separation is a dynamical artefact occurring in a many-particle system driven by autocatalytic electrochemical reactions, that is, an interfacial exchange current that increases with the extent of delithiation. We experimentally validate this population-dynamics model using the single-phase material Lix(Ni1/3Mn1/3Co1/3)O2 (0.5  less then  x  less then  1) and demonstrate generality with other transition-metal compositions. Operando diffraction and nanoscale oxidation-state mapping unambiguously prove that this fictitious phase separation is a repeatable non-equilibrium effect. In this Review Article, we discuss recent progress in the development of miniaturized and ultralightweight devices as neuroengineering platforms that are wireless, battery-free and fully implantable, with capabilities that match or exceed those of wired or battery-powered alternatives. Such classes of advanced neural interfaces with optical, electrical or fluidic functionality can also combine recording and stimulation modalities for closed-loop applications in basic studies or in the practical treatment of abnormal physiological processes.Contrast agents for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) improve anatomical visualizations. However, owing to poor image resolution in whole-body MRI, resolving fine structures is challenging. Here, we report that a nanoparticle with a polysaccharide supramolecular core and a shell of amorphous-like hydrous ferric oxide generating strong T1 MRI contrast (with a relaxivity coefficient ratio of ~1.2) facilitates the imaging, at resolutions of the order of a few hundred micrometres, of cerebral, coronary and peripheral microvessels in rodents and of lower-extremity vessels in rabbits. However, their use is complicated by adverse effects known as immune-related adverse events (irAEs), including ICI-induced inflammatory arthritis. ICI-induced inflammatory arthritis is distinguished from other irAEs by its persistence and requirement for long-term treatment. TNF inhibitors are commonly used to treat inflammatory diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, spondyloarthropathies and inflammatory bowel disease, and have also been adopted as second-line agents to treat irAEs refractory to glucocorticoid treatment. Experiencing an irAE is associated with a better antitumour response after ICI treatment. However, whether TNF inhibition can be safely used to treat irAEs without promoting cancer progression, either by compromising ICI therapy efficacy or via another route, remains an open question. In this Review, we discuss clinical and preclinical studies that address the relationship between TNF, TNF inhibition and cancer. The bulk of the evidence suggests that at least short courses of TNF inhibitors are safe for the treatment of irAEs in patients with cancer undergoing ICI therapy.   • The 0.19-mg fluocinolone acetonide (FAc) implant (ILUVIEN®; Alimera Sciences Ltd., Hampshire, UK) was approved for the treatment of vision impairment associated with chronic and refractory diabetic macular edema (DME).

    To quantitatively assess functional and structural features in nonvitrectomized and vitrectomized DME patients after being treated with an FAc implant.

    Retrospective review of patients with DME receiving a single intravitreal injection of the FAc implant. The study was designed to analyze the presence of quantitative structural OCT biomarkers at baseline and 12 months after FAc therapy according to vitreous status.

    A total of 41 eyes from 30 patients were included in this study. At 12 months after injection, vitrectomized patients had a lower central foveal thickness (p = 0.017) and fewer hyperreflective dots (p = 0.028) compared with nonvitrectomized. Thirty (73%) patients presented a significant functional improvement with 17 (42%) increasing at least 15 ETDRS letters. Overall, 22 (54%) eyes had a complete resolution of DME at the 12-month visit. Patients who needed additional therapy had a higher prevalence of subretinal fluid (42 vs. 3%, p = 0.005) at baseline.

We calculated means with ±1.96 times of standard deviation and 2.5th, 97.5th percentiles of eGFR per 5-year age-group.     The cohort study included 17,037 male and 9,304 female Chinese persons aged 18-99 years.     The aim of the study was to study the Janus kinase/tyrosine kinase-activated transduction factor (JAK/STAT) signaling pathway and myogenesis on the masseter muscle after sleep deprivation and to investigate the role of stress in this scenario.

    A total of 18 male Wistar rats were divided into the following groups control (n = 6) animals were not submitted to any procedures, and paradoxical sleep deprivation and vehicle (PSD + V; n = 6) animals were subjected to PSD for 96 h and (PSD + MET; n = 6) animals were subjected to PSD for 96 h with administration of metyrapone. Paradoxical sleep deprivation was performed by the modified multiple platforms method. Histopathological analysis, histomorphometry, and immunohistochemistry were performed.

    The results showed the presence of inflammatory infiltrate in the PSD + V and PSD + MET groups and atrophy. Histomorphometry showed that the cellular profile area decreased, while cellular density increased in both experimental groups. Expression of p-STAT 3, MyoD, and MyoG increased in the PSD + V group, while the PSD + MET group showed increased expression of IL-6 and p-STAT 3.

Here, we report a case of simultaneous ipsilateral occurrence of renal cancer and RAA in a patient with bilateral renal masses, treated with 1 surgical procedure with good functional and oncological outcomes. This rare occurrence must be known by surgeons treating renal cancers, and it is possible to perform the 2 procedures in 1 surgical step.

The key mechanism of POCD may be the inflammatory response of the central nervous system during surgery, which is similar to that of Alzheimer's disease (AD). Enriched environment (EE), a factor that can significantly improve and prevent neurodegenerative diseases, may have a beneficial effect on POCD. Key Messages This review aims to elucidate the mechanism of the occurrence and development of POCD, analyze the possible influence of EE on POCD at the molecular level, and provide a direction for its treatment.
