These restrictions had positive impacts for air quality due to a dramatic reduction of economic activity and atmospheric emissions. In this work, a machine learning approach was designed and implemented to analyze local air quality improvements during the COVID-19 lockdown in Graz, Austria. The machine learning approach was used as a robust alternative to simple, historical measurement comparisons for various individual pollutants. Concentrations of NO2 (nitrogen dioxide), PM10 (particulate matter), O3 (ozone) and Ox (total oxidant) were selected from five measurement sites in Graz and were set as target variables for random forest regression models to predict their expected values during the city's lockdown period. Photosynthetic cells were able to accumulate 4627 mg lead/kgDW after 5 days of culture with 200 μM Pb2+. Nevertheless, exposure to 50, 100 and 200 μM Pb2+ for up to 8 days did not modify growth, viability, chlorophyll content and oxygen consumption/production. Enhanced biosynthesis of thiol molecules and polyphosphates, i.e. the two canonical metal ion chelation mechanisms in E. gracilis, was not induced under such conditions. However, in cells cultured in the absence of phosphate, lead accumulation and polyphosphate content markedly decreased, while culturing in the absence of sulfate did not modify the accumulation of this metal. In turn, the total amount of intracellular calcium slightly increased as the amount of intracellular lead increased, whereas under Ca2+ deficiency lead accumulation doubled. Therefore, the results indicated that E. gracilis is highly resistant to lead through mechanisms mediated by polyphosphates and Ca2+ and can in fact be classified as a lead hyperaccumulator microorganism.Subsurface wastewater infiltration systems (SWISs) have been widely used to treat rural domestic sewage. However, the low nitrogen removal and severe clogging problem always restrict the sustainability of SWISs for wastewater treatment. This study investigated the effects of aeration and biochar on the accumulation of nutrients and dissolved organic matter (DOM) in the substrate of loess soil-based SWISs for understanding the accumulation characteristics of DOM and the enhanced decontamination mechanism. The results showed that biochar addition could not improve the accumulation of nitrogen and phosphorus in the substrate, but could enhance denitrification (22%) via providing sufficient carbon for microorganisms. Moreover, the accumulation of organic matter in the substrate was also greatly affected. The DOM concentration of System D in the 40-60 cm layer reached 85.76 mg L-1, which indicated that biochar could release abundant DOM. Substrate DOM mainly contained humic acid-like and tryptophan-like substances. Moreover, the refractory macromolecular DOM components with high aromaticity and humification were found in the substrate below 60 cm of systems with biochar addition. This may be related to the DOM released by biochar and the extracellular polymeric substance (EPS) produced by microorganisms. It may affect the sustainability of the substrate to a certain extent, but fortunately that intermittent aeration could reduce this adverse effect. This study indicates that regional risks to rice from O3 exposure and provide quantitative evidence of O3-induced impacts on rice yields and economic losses across Southern China. Therefore, the establishment of scientific O3 risk assessment method is of great significance to prevent yield production and economic losses caused by O3 exposure. Policymakers should strengthen supervision of emissions of O3 precursors to mitigate the rise of O3 concentration, thereby reducing O3 damage to agricultural production.Traditional toxicity tests assess stressor effects on individuals, while protection goals are focused on the population-level and above. Additionally, these tests ignore common ecological factors such as resource levels and population growth phase. The objective of this research was to explore effects of - and interactions between - resource availability and stress response at the individual and population levels using Daphnia magna as a model. We hypothesized that density-dependent changes in resources at various phases of population growth would cause different population responses to the same toxicant stress. Laboratory populations of Daphnia magna were exposed to a 48-h pulse of 20 or 30 μg/l pyraclostrobin in one of four distinct phases of laboratory population cycles growth, peak, decline, and stable. Population size and recovery were observed throughout the 51-day study. Populations exposed to pyraclostrobin during the growth phase had the least mortality and fastest recovery, while populations in the peak phase had the greatest mortality and slowest recovery. These data suggested that high density and low food at the peak phase resulted in more sensitive daphnids. To further test this hypothesis, a resource-amended acute toxicity study was conducted to quantify the effects of food resource on pyraclostrobin toxicity to Daphnia magna. Three age classes of Daphnia magna (neonate, subadult, adult) were fed low or high food levels and exposed to pyraclostrobin for 48 h. Toxicity was greater, as shown by lower 48 h LC50s, for smaller Daphnia magna age classes and lower food levels comporting results in the population study. Importantly, the acute toxicity studies generally yielded lower effect levels than the population studies suggesting that while the standard acute studies are ecologically unrealistic, they may be protective of toxicity under some circumstances. Collectively, these data point to the importance of population phase and the resource environment in modulating toxicity.This study aimed at comparing source-specific fingerprints of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) in river water from China and Germany, selected as countries with different histories of PFAS production. Samples were collected from up- and downstream of seven suspected point sources in autumn 2018. Amongst the 29 analyzed legacy and emerging PFASs, 24 were detected, with a sum ranging from 2.7 ng/L (Alz River) to 420,000 ng/L (Xiaoqing River). While mass flow estimates for the Xiaoqing River and Yangtze River (mean 20 and 43 t/y, respectively) indicated ongoing high emissions of the legacy compound PFOA in China, its ether-based replacements HFPO-DA and DONA showed the highest contribution downstream of a German fluoropolymer manufacturing site (50% and 40% of ΣPFASs measured, respectively). Desert dust emissions contribute to nearly 60-95% of the global dust budget and thus, desert dust may facilitate atmospheric Hg transport and deposition to the downwind regions worldwide. The role of desert dust in biogeochemical cycling of Hg, however, has not been well recognized by the Hg research community. In this study, we measured the concentration of particulate bound Hg (HgP) in total suspended particulate (TSP) collected from China's largest desert, Taklimakan Desert, between 2013 and 2017. The results show that HgP concentrations over the Taklimakan Desert atmosphere are remarkably higher than those observed from background sites in China and are even comparable to those measured in most of the Chinese metropolitan cities. Moreover, HgP concentrations in the Taklimakan Desert exhibit a distinct seasonal pattern peaking during dust storm outbreak periods in spring and summer (March to August). A preliminary estimation demonstrates that export of total Hg associated with atmospheric dust from the Taklimakan Desert could be 59.7 ± 60.3 (1SD) Mg yr-1. The unexpectedly high HgP concentrations during duststorms, together with consistent seasonal pattern of Hg revealed from the snow/ice, clearly demonstrate that Asian desert dust could act as a significant carrier of atmospheric Hg to the cryosphere of Western China and even can have further global reach.

Type-I x-ray bursts can reveal the properties of an accreting neutron star system when compared with astrophysics model calculations. However, model results are sensitive to a handful of uncertain nuclear reaction rates, such as ^22Mg(α,p). We report the first direct measurement of ^22Mg(α,p), performed with the Active Target Time Projection Chamber. The corresponding astrophysical reaction rate is orders of magnitude larger than determined from a previous indirect measurement in a broad temperature range. Our new measurement suggests a less-compact neutron star in the source GS1826-24.The compositional changes in shear bands of a Cu_50Zr_50 metallic glass after plastic deformation at room temperature have been monitored by atom probe tomography. Across the width of the shear bands an asymmetry of the enriched and depleted zones of the constituent elements is observed, while no change of the composition within the surrounding matrix occurs. The diffusion coefficients determined from the concentration profiles are orders of magnitude larger than the values of bulk diffusion at room temperature. The asymmetric concentration profiles of the constituent elements (Cu and Zr) remain stable during annealing at a temperature of 543 K, even though fast and preferential diffusion of a Ni tracer has been found along the shear band at the same temperature. The results indicate that the atomic structure and stress distribution within the shear bands is altered from that of the surrounding amorphous matrix. We confirm the long coherence times via exact diagonalization and connect it to the presence of a pair of conjugate almost strong zero modes. Our results provide a route to experimentally construct long-lived coherent boundary qubits at infinite temperature in disorder-free systems. To this end, we propose and analyze an implementation using a Rydberg optical-tweezer array and demonstrate that the difference between edge- and bulk-spin autocorrelators can be distinguished on timescales significantly shorter than the typical coherence time.We propose a spintronics-based hardware implementation of neuromorphic computing, specifically, the spiking neural network, using topological winding textures in one-dimensional antiferromagnets. The consistency of such a network is emphasized in light of the conservation of topological charges, and the natural spatiotemporal interconversions of magnetic winding. We discuss the realization of the leaky integrate-and-fire behavior of neurons and the spike-timing-dependent plasticity of synapses. Our proposal opens the possibility for an all-spin neuromorphic platform based on antiferromagnetic insulators.
Type-I x-ray bursts can reveal the properties of an accreting neutron star system when compared with astrophysics model calculations. However, model results are sensitive to a handful of uncertain nuclear reaction rates, such as ^22Mg(α,p). We report the first direct measurement of ^22Mg(α,p), performed with the Active Target Time Projection Chamber. The corresponding astrophysical reaction rate is orders of magnitude larger than determined from a previous indirect measurement in a broad temperature range. Our new measurement suggests a less-compact neutron star in the source GS1826-24.The compositional changes in shear bands of a Cu_50Zr_50 metallic glass after plastic deformation at room temperature have been monitored by atom probe tomography. Across the width of the shear bands an asymmetry of the enriched and depleted zones of the constituent elements is observed, while no change of the composition within the surrounding matrix occurs. The diffusion coefficients determined from the concentration profiles are orders of magnitude larger than the values of bulk diffusion at room temperature. The asymmetric concentration profiles of the constituent elements (Cu and Zr) remain stable during annealing at a temperature of 543 K, even though fast and preferential diffusion of a Ni tracer has been found along the shear band at the same temperature. The results indicate that the atomic structure and stress distribution within the shear bands is altered from that of the surrounding amorphous matrix. Diffuse large B cell lymphomas (DLBCL) are a highly heterogeneous subtype of Non Hodgkin Lymphoma (NHL), accounting for about 25% of NHL. Despite an increased progression-free survival upon therapy, 40-50% of patients develop relapse/refractory disease, therefore there remains an important medical need. T cell recruiting therapies, such as the CD20xCD3 T cell bi-specific antibody CD20-TCB (RG6026 or glofitamab), represent a novel approach to target all stages of DLBCL, especially those that fail to respond to multiple lines of treatment. We aimed for a better understanding of the molecular features related to the mode of action (MoA) of CD20-TCB in inducing Target/T cell synapse formation and human T cell recruitment to the tumor. To directly evaluate the correlation between synapse, cytokine production and anti-tumor efficacy using CD20-TCB, we developed an innovative preclinical human DLBCL in vivo model that allowed tracking in vivo human T cell dynamics by multiphoton intravital microscopy (MP-IVM). By exl proliferation and iii) recruitment of fresh peripheral T cells to the tumor core to allow a positive enhancement of the anti-tumor effect.
Systematic mapping of the concept, content, and outcome of wilderness programs for childhood cancer survivors.
Scoping review.
Searches were performed in 13 databases and the grey literature. Included studies describe participation of childhood cancer survivors in wilderness programs where the role of nature had a contextual and therapeutic premise. At least two authors independently performed screening, data extraction and analysis.
Database searches yielded 1848 articles, of which 15 met the inclusion criteria. The majority of programs (73%) employed adventure therapy. Five activity categories were identified as components of wilderness programs challenge/risk, free time/leisure, experiential learning, physical activity and psychotherapeutic activities. A majority of the participating childhood cancer survivors were female, white, aged 8-40 years, with a wide range of cancer diagnoses. Reported outcomes included increased social involvement, self-esteem, self-confidence, self-efficacy, social supporhe effectiveness and safety of wilderness programs in childhood cancer survivors.
This scoping review guides childhood cancer survivors, their families, practitioners, clinicians and researchers in the development and optimization of wilderness programs for childhood cancer survivors. In addition, it informs the utilization of these programs, and identifies gaps in the evidence base of wilderness programs. The unprecedented worldwide social distancing response to COVID-19 resulted in a quick reversal of escalating case numbers. Recently, local governments globally have begun to relax social distancing regulations. Using the situation in Manitoba, Canada as an example, we estimated the impact that social distancing relaxation may have on the pandemic.
We fit a mathematical model to empirically estimated numbers of people infected, recovered, and died from COVID-19 in Manitoba. We then explored the impact of social distancing relaxation on (a) time until near elimination of COVID-19 (< one case per million), (b) time until peak prevalence, (c) proportion of the population infected within one year, (d) peak prevalence, and (e) deaths within one year.
Assuming a closed population, near elimination of COVID-19 in Manitoba could have been achieved in 4-6 months (by July or August) if there were no relaxation of social distancing. Relaxing to 15% of pre-COVID effective contacts may extend the local epidemic for more than two years (median 2.1). Relaxation to 50% of pre-COVID effective contacts may result in a peak prevalence of 31-38% of the population, within 3-4 months of initial relaxation.
Slight relaxation of social distancing may immensely impact the pandemic duration and expected peak prevalence. Only holding the course with respect to social distancing may have resulted in near elimination before Fall of 2020; relaxing social distancing to 15% of pre-COVID-19 contacts will flatten the epidemic curve but greatly extend the duration of the pandemic.

Only holding the course with respect to social distancing may have resulted in near elimination before Fall of 2020; relaxing social distancing to 15% of pre-COVID-19 contacts will flatten the epidemic curve but greatly extend the duration of the pandemic.In confronting the global spread of the coronavirus disease COVID-19 pandemic we must have coordinated medical, operational, and political responses. In all efforts, data is crucial. Fundamentally, and in the possible absence of a vaccine for 12 to 18 months, we need universal, well-documented testing for both the presence of the disease as well as confirmed recovery through serological tests for antibodies, and we need to track major socioeconomic indices. But we also need auxiliary data of all kinds, including data related to how populations are talking about the unfolding pandemic through news and stories. To in part help on the social media side, we curate a set of 2000 day-scale time series of 1- and 2-grams across 24 languages on Twitter that are most 'important' for April 2020 with respect to April 2019. We determine importance through our allotaxonometric instrument, rank-turbulence divergence. We make some basic observations about some of the time series, including a comparison to numbers of confirmed deaths due to COVID-19 over time. We broadly observe across all languages a peak for the language-specific word for 'virus' in January 2020 followed by a decline through February and then a surge through March and April. The world's collective attention dropped away while the virus spread out from China. We host the time series on Gitlab, updating them on a daily basis while relevant. Our main intent is for other researchers to use these time series to enhance whatever analyses that may be of use during the pandemic as well as for retrospective investigations.

In univariate analysis, higher odds of sPTB was associated with higher cervical IL-6 levels (OR = 1·54, 95% CI = 1·00-2·38), but not with other cervical cytokines. In this cohort of Kenyan women, we did not find a significant association between cervical CMV shedding and sPTB before 34 weeks.
Callous-unemotional (CU) traits are related to low achievement but not to deficits in verbal ability, commonly regarded as a major risk factor for poor academic outcomes in antisocial youth. This suggests that CU traits may have utility in explaining heterogeneous risk pathways for poor school performance in antisocial children. Reduced sensitivity to teacher discipline has been suggested as a potential explanation for the association between CU traits and low achievement, given its importance in facilitating engagement in learning. This study is the first to examine punishment insensitivity as a potential mechanism explaining the relationship between CU traits and poor achievement.
The current study investigated the indirect pathway from CU traits via the predictor of punishment insensitivity to English, Maths, and Science grades.
A total of 437 English secondary school students aged 11 to 14years (49% girls).
We conducted a mediation analysis within a structural equation modelling framework. CU traits and punishment insensitivity were assessed using child report questionnaires and academic grades were obtained from school records.
CU traits were indirectly associated with low academic grades in Maths and Science, but not English, via punishment insensitivity, controlling for child age, gender, single parent household status, free school meals eligibility, externalizing problems, and classroom effects.
Findings indicated that reduced sensitivity to discipline forms a pathway linking CU traits to poor performance in Maths and Science. Teachers may therefore need additional support to implement discipline effectively with children high in CU traits in order to prevent poor academic outcomes.

Moreover, inadequate temperature strongly reduces the biomass productivity in these systems even if enough sunlight is available. Controlling the temperature in large open raceway reactors is considered unaffordable because of the large amount of energy required. This study presents an indirect method for temperature regulation in microalgae raceway reactors by optimizing the culture depth. First, the effect of the culture depth on the raceway temperature is analyzed for different seasons of the year. Afterward, a simulation study is presented where the proposed control approach is compared to the normal operation mode with constant volume in the reactor. This study is also extended to industrial scale. Relevant improvements on the temperature factor and biomass production are presented. The developed knowledge allows the improvement of the performance in open raceway reactors up to 12% without involving additional energy and costs, being a suitable solution for large industrial reactors that until now have no options for controlling the temperature.This article presents a new method for modelling collective movement in continuous time with behavioural switching, motivated by simultaneous tracking of wild or semi-domesticated animals. This study presents an indirect method for temperature regulation in microalgae raceway reactors by optimizing the culture depth. First, the effect of the culture depth on the raceway temperature is analyzed for different seasons of the year. Afterward, a simulation study is presented where the proposed control approach is compared to the normal operation mode with constant volume in the reactor. This study is also extended to industrial scale. Relevant improvements on the temperature factor and biomass production are presented. The surface electromyograms were recorded from triceps surae muscles. The longest EMD among triceps surae muscles was chosen as the EMD for each side. Our results revealed that the EMD in paretic muscles was significantly longer than in non-paretic muscles. Moreover, both paretic and non-paretic muscles showed a negative correlation between the EMD and maximum torque-generating capacity. In addition, there was a strong positive relationship between the EMD and shear wave speed in paretic muscles as well as a negative relationship between the EMD and passive ankle joint range of motion. Ten male participants (24.6 years ± 2.22 years) completed maximal and submaximal baseline isometric contractions at 90°, 120° and 150° knee flexion and PS-ISO contractions of maximal and submaximal intensity initiated at 90° and 120° incorporating active stretch of 30° and 60° at 60°·s-1. Torque and muscle activation of the knee flexors were simultaneously recorded. Musculotendinous unit behaviour of the biceps femoris long head was recorded via ultrasound during all PS-ISO contractions. Compared with baseline, torque was 8% and 39% greater in the maximal and submaximal PS-ISO conditions respectively with no change in muscle activation. The biceps femoris long head muscle lengthened during all PS-ISO contractions. PS-ISO contractions may be beneficial where the effects of highly controlled eccentric contractions and elevated isometric torque are desired, such as hamstring rehabilitation.
Diagnostic and treatment disparities exist among sociodemographically diverse families with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). These disparities may be partially explained by the lack of information researchers and providers have regarding the unique experiences of diverse populations.
This study aimed to explore sociodemographic predictors of parents' perceptions about their children's ASD and families' adjustment.
Hierarchical linear regression analyses were conducted to explore whether sociodemographic factors predicted aspects of parent's perceptions and family adjustment among 363 parents of children and adolescents with ASD.
Parents' race/ethnicity, education level, and annual household income predicted their beliefs that they or treatment could be helpful in controlling their children's ASD symptoms; their understanding of ASD; their experiences of emotional distress; their involvement in resources of support; and their families' ability to manage stress.
Our results demonstrate the importance of considering the complexity of families' demographic characteristics when working to support families with ASD. Parents' unique characteristics and experiences influence their perceptions about their children's ASD diagnosis and their families' ability to adjust to life raising children with ASD. Research extending this work is a critical step in dismantling ASD diagnostic and treatment disparities.

Their macroscopic mechanical properties, namely the Young's modulus and tensile strength, are influenced by the defect content, while no correlation was found with their SSA or interlayer spacing. Similarly to most other lysins, lysostaphin is composed of enzymatic and peptidoglycan-binding domains, and both domains influence its antibacterial activity. It is thus desirable to be able to study the activity of both domains independently. Lysostaphin cleaves pentaglycine cross-bridges within the staphylococcal peptidoglycan. Here, we report the protocol to study the catalytic activity of lysostaphin on the isolated pentaglycine peptide that is based on the chromogenic reaction of peptide amino groups with ninhydrin. Unlike previously reported assays, this protocol does not require in-house chemical synthesis or specialized equipment and can be readily performed in most laboratories. We demonstrate the use of this protocol to study the effect of EDTA treatment on the lysostaphin enzymatic activity. Passive; activity; and communication tasks were measured in terms of the time the dog first contacted the trainer; the time it took for the dog to approach within 1 m of the trainer, and the time the dog remained in contact. The IS and OS groups showed no significant differences in any category; except for close to trainer within 1 m of the active phase. However, in a comparison between the overall HS and LS groups; significant positive changes were observed in all items except for the first contact time to the trainer of the passive and active phase. This is an important result of the sociality level; as positive results can be predicted not only in a dog's ability to adapt to the environment but also in the communication and training exchanges between dogs and humans.Diversity of species within Aspergillus niger clade, currently represented by A. niger sensu stricto and A. welwitshiae, was investigated combining three-locus gene sequences, Random Amplified Polymorphic DNA, secondary metabolites profile and morphology. Firstly, approximately 700 accessions belonging to this clade were investigated using calmodulin gene sequences. Based on these sequences, eight haplotypes were clearly identified as A. niger (n = 247) and 17 as A. welwitschiae (n = 403). However, calmodulin sequences did not provide definitive species identities for six haplotypes. To elucidate the taxonomic position of these haplotypes, two other loci, part of the beta-tubulin gene and part of the RNA polymerase II gene, were sequenced and used to perform an analysis of Genealogical Concordance Phylogenetic Species Recognition. This analysis enabled the recognition of two new phylogenetic species. One of the new phylogenetic species showed morphological and chemical distinguishable features in comparison to the known species A. welwitschiae and A. niger. This species is illustrated and described as Aspergillus vinaceus sp. nov. In contrast to A. niger and A. welwitschiae, A. vinaceus strains produced asperazine, but none of them were found to produce ochratoxin A and/or fumonisins. Sclerotium production on laboratory media, which does not occur in strains of A. niger and A. welwitschiae, and strictly sclerotium-associated secondary metabolites (14-Epi-hydroxy-10,23-dihydro-24,25-dehydroaflavinine; 10,23-Dihydro-24,25-dehydroaflavinine; 10,23-Dihydro-24,25-dehydro-21-oxo-aflavinine) were found in A. vinaceus. The strain type of A. vinaceus sp. nov. is ITAL 47,456 (T) (=IBT 35556).

RESULTS Technical success was achieved in 80.5% (n = 177). Reasons for technical failure include inability to obtain distal access (n = 3), cross the occlusion retrogradely (n = 16), re-enter the true lumen (n = 9), and achieve antegrade blood flow after the procedure (n = 15). Freedom from major amputation for technically successful procedures was 84.7%, 82.9%, and 81.9% at 6, 12, and 24 months, respectively. There were 3 cases of distal access bleeding with 1case that required coil embolization. The distal access remained patent in 80.8% of observable cases with repeated endovascular intervention. CONCLUSIONS Distal retrograde arterial access (SAFARI) technique is safe and effective in the treatment of CTOs in the context of CLI, after failure of antegrade revascularization. PURPOSE To investigate the safety and efficacy of the parallel covered stents technique in the treatment of anatomically challenging aortic aneurysms, pseudoaneurysms, and dissections. MATERIALS AND METHODS Data were retrospectively collected from 16 patients with abdominal aortic diseases who were treated with parallel covered stents (Gore Excluder, n = 14; Medtronic Endurant, n = 2) between January 2016 and July 2018. Patients were treated with this technique if they were unsuitable for either open repair or standard endovascular aortic repair with bifurcated stents. Such unfavorable anatomy included narrow aortic necks (≤18 mm), small vascular access (occluded or ≤6.0 mm), or compressed aortic lumens (≤18 mm). CONCLUSIONS The parallel covered stents technique appears to offer a feasible solution for abdominal aortic diseases with unfavorable anatomy. Long-term follow-up is needed to further evaluate the safety and efficacy of this technique. INTRODUCTION Nowadays, diagnostic biomarker research is oriented on a genomic characterisation of prostate cancer (PCa). This study evaluated diagnostic values of TMPRSS2-Erg fusion transcripts expression (TE) and androgen receptor variant 7 (AR-V7) on urine (tU) and biopsic rince material (tLRB) samples. MATERIALS AND METHODS TE and AR-V7 have been tested by RT-PCR and RT-qPCR on urine and biopsies' rince liquid on 372 patients referred for prostate biopsies. RESULTS Two hundred thirty-three patients (62%) were diagnosed with PCa. tU.AR-V7 was positive for 15 healthy patients (28%) and 30 patients diagnosed with PCa (37%). tLRB.AR-V7 was positive for 66 patients (42%) diagnosed with PCa. Concerning TE for patients diagnosed with PCa, tU was positive for 59 patients (54%) and tLRB for 132 (55%). TE and TE/AR-V7 combination were significantly associated with PCa (P less then 0.001), as tLRB.AR-V7 (P less then 0.001). Sensitivity and specificity for TE/AR-V7 combination for PCa were respectively tU.TE/AR-V7 67% and 70%, tLRB.TE/AR-V7 68.8% and 71%, and, tUtLRB.TE/AR-V7 83% and 60%. There was no benefit for AR-V7 and TE association versus TE alone when comparing AUC. CONCLUSION AR-V7 is not specific of PCa because of detection on healthy patients. With our conditions the results are mixed and penile reimplantation should ideally be done under a microscope with an experienced surgeon. However, it can be attempted as long as possible, with the possibility of making an urethrostomy in the second time in case of failure. The efficacy was evaluated with questionnaires about lower urinary tract symptoms (IPSS) and its impact on quality of life (IPSS-QdV). Tolerance was evaluated with questionnaires about erectile (IIEF5) and ejaculatory function (MSHQ-EjD) and complication rate. Survival without additional treatment was assessed using Kaplan-Meier method. RESULTS Forty patients were treated during this period, with a median follow-up of 32months [12-67]. Three months after the procedure, IPSS and IPSS-QdV were significantly improved (respectively 8 [4-11] vs 20 [17-24]; P2 were reported. Survival without additional treatment at 5years was 63%.
RESULTS Technical success was achieved in 80.5% (n = 177). Reasons for technical failure include inability to obtain distal access (n = 3), cross the occlusion retrogradely (n = 16), re-enter the true lumen (n = 9), and achieve antegrade blood flow after the procedure (n = 15). Freedom from major amputation for technically successful procedures was 84.7%, 82.9%, and 81.9% at 6, 12, and 24 months, respectively. There were 3 cases of distal access bleeding with 1case that required coil embolization. The distal access remained patent in 80.8% of observable cases with repeated endovascular intervention. PURPOSE To investigate the safety and efficacy of the parallel covered stents technique in the treatment of anatomically challenging aortic aneurysms, pseudoaneurysms, and dissections. MATERIALS AND METHODS Data were retrospectively collected from 16 patients with abdominal aortic diseases who were treated with parallel covered stents (Gore Excluder, n = 14; Medtronic Endurant, n = 2) between January 2016 and July 2018. Patients were treated with this technique if they were unsuitable for either open repair or standard endovascular aortic repair with bifurcated stents. Such unfavorable anatomy included narrow aortic necks (≤18 mm), small vascular access (occluded or ≤6.0 mm), or compressed aortic lumens (≤18 mm). Here, we present a streamlined, more economical RNaseH-mediated rRNA depletion with substantially lower up-front costs, using shorter antisense oligos only sparsely tiled along the target RNA in a 5-min digestion reaction. We introduce a novel Web tool, Oligo-ASST, that simplifies oligo design to target regions with optimal thermodynamic properties, and additionally can generate compact, common oligo pools that simultaneously target divergent RNAs, e.g. across different species. We demonstrate the efficacy of these strategies by generating rRNA-depletion oligos for Xenopus laevis and for zebrafish, which expresses two distinct versions of rRNAs during embryogenesis. The resulting RNA-seq libraries reduce rRNA to less then 5% of aligned reads, on par with poly(A) selection, and also reveal expression of many non-adenylated RNA species. Patients with mechanical circulatory support bridged to a heart transplant (HTx) are at higher risk of postoperative graft dysfunction. In this subset, a mode of graft preservation that shortens graft ischaemia should be beneficial.
The outcomes of 38 patients on mechanical circulatory support (extracorporeal life support, left ventricular assist device and biventricular assist device) who received a HTx between 2015 and 2020 were analysed according to the method of graft preservation cold storage (CS) group, 24 (63%) or ex vivo perfusion (EVP) group, 14 (37%).
The median age was 57 (range 30-73) vs 64 (35-75) years (P = 0.10); 88% were men (P = 0.28); extracorporeal life support was more frequent in the CS group (54% vs 36%; P = 0.27) versus left ventricular and biventricular assist devices in the EVP group (46% vs 64%; P = 0.27). Clamping time was shorter in the EVP group (P < 0.001) and ischaemic time >4 h was higher in the CS group (P = 0.01). Thirty-day mortality was 13% (0-27%) in the CS group and 0% (P = 0.28) in the EVP group. A significantly lower primary graft failure [7% (0-23%) vs 42% (20-63%); P = 0.03] was observed in the EVP group. Survival at 1 year was 79 ± 8% (63-95%) in the CS group and 84 ± 10% (64-104%) in the EVP group (P = 0.95).
Our results support the use of ex vivo graft perfusion in patients on mechanical circulatory support as a bridge to a HTx. This technique, by shortening graft ischaemic time, seems to improve post-HTx outcomes.

A greater thalamic volume reduction over time, on its CSF side, has been described in paediatric multiple sclerosis patients. However, its determinants and the underlying pathological changes, likely occurring before this phenomenon becomes measurable, have never been explored. Using a multiparametric magnetic resonance approach, we quantified, in vivo, the different processes that can involve the thalamus in terms of focal lesions, microstructural damage and atrophy in paediatric multiple sclerosis patients and their distribution according to the distance from CSF/thalamus interface and thalamus/white matter interface. In 70 paediatric multiple sclerosis patients and 26 age- and sex-matched healthy controls, we tested for differences in thalamic volume and quantitative MRI metrics-including fractional anisotropy, mean diffusivity and T1/T2-weighted ratio-in the whole thalamus and in thalamic white matter, globally and within concentric bands originating from CSF/thalamus interface.
