In the treatment group, there were no serious adverse events related to the index ulcer. Two adverse events (index ulcer cellulitis and bleeding) were possibly related to the autologous heterogeneous skin construct. The inclusion of inorganic nanoparticles such as nanosilica and nanoclay into electrospun biopolymeric matrices can meet these challenging requirements. The silica and clay incorporation into polymeric nanofibers has been reported to enhance and improve the mechanical properties as well as the osteogenic properties of the scaffolds. In this work, for the first time, the physical and biological properties of polylactic acid (PLA) electrospun mats filled with different concentrations of nanosilica and nanoclay were evaluated and compared. The inclusion of the particles was evaluated through morphological investigations and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. The morphology of nanofibers was differently affected by the amount and kind of fillers and it was correlated to the viscosity of the polymeric suspensions. The wettability of the scaffolds, evaluated through wet contact angle measurements, slightly increased for both the nanocomposites. The crystallinity of the systems was investigated by differential scanning calorimetry highlighting the nucleating action of both nanosilica and nanoclay on PLA. Scaffolds were mechanically characterized with tensile tests to evaluate the reinforcing action of the fillers. Finally, cell culture assays with pre-osteoblastic cells were conducted on a selected composite scaffold in order to compare the cell proliferation and morphology with that of neat PLA scaffolds. Based on the results, we can convince that nanosilica and nanoclay can be both considered great potential fillers for electrospun systems engineered for bone tissue regeneration.The objective of this study is to explore the changes in the coagulation and fibrinolysis system in an animal model with pulmonary embolism after cardiopulmonary bypass and to provide a theoretical basis for clinical practice. Iron overload would promote the expression of chondrocytes catabolic markers, MMP3 and MMP13 expression. In addition, we found that oxidative stress and mitochondrial dysfunction played important roles in iron overload-induced cartilage degeneration, reducing iron concentration using iron chelator or antioxidant drugs could inhibit iron overload-induced OA-related catabolic markers and mitochondrial dysfunction. In this paper, DNA origami linear actuators with up to 200 nm travel, based on a rail threading a topologically locked slider, are demonstrated. Two strategies, one- and two-pot assembly, are demonstrated whereby the two components are folded from one or two DNA scaffold strands, respectively. In order to control the position of the slider on the rail, the rail and the inside of the slider are decorated with single-stranded oligonucleotides with distinct sequences. Two positioning strategies, based on diffusion and capture of signaling strands, are used to link the slider reversibly to determined positions on the rail with high yield and precision. These machine components provide a basis for applications in molecular machinery and nanoscale manufacture including programmed chemical synthesis.

Chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN) is a common adverse effect of neurotoxic anticancer drugs that may affect quality of life (QoL). Purpose The purposes of this study were to assess the levels of CIPN, anxiety, depression, CIPN-related QoL, and general QoL; and identify the factors related to CIPN-related QoL and general QoL in patients with advanced lung cancer (LC) receiving platinum-based chemotherapy. This cross-sectional study examined patients with advanced LC who received platinum-based chemotherapy from the thoracic oncology inpatient wards of a medical center in northern Taiwan. Structured questionnaires were used to measure patients' CIPN (European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer quality of life questionnaire-chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy 20), anxiety (Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale Depression Scale [HADS]), depression (HADS), CIPN-related QoL (Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy /Gynecologic Oncology Group-Neurotoxicity subscale [FACT/GOG-Ntx]), and general QoL (Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy-General Input [FACT-G]). Of 93 patients with advanced LC, 53.8% reported CIPN-sensory impairment and 47.3% reported CIPN-motor impairment. The most common CIPN symptoms were difficulty getting or maintaining an erection (only for men > 65 years) and difficulty in climbing stairs or getting up out of a chair. Poor CIPN-related QoL (FACT/GOG-Ntx) was associated with more CIPN-sensory and more CIPN-motor impairment. Poor general QoL (FACT-G) was associated with a higher level of depression, a higher level of anxiety, and receipt of more chemotherapy cycles. More than half of LC patients report impairment related to CIPN, calling for holistic treatment to improve QoL.Autoinducer 2 (or AI-2) is one of the molecules used by bacteria to trigger the Quorum Sensing (QS) response, which activates expression of genes involved in a series of alternative mechanisms, when cells reach high population densities (including bioluminescence, motility, biofilm formation, stress resistance, and production of public goods, or pathogenicity factors, among others). Contrary to most autoinducers, AI-2 can induce QS responses in both Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria, and has been suggested to constitute a trans-specific system of bacterial communication, capable of affecting even bacteria that cannot produce this autoinducer. In this work, we demonstrate that the ethanologenic Gram-negative bacterium Zymomonas mobilis (a non-AI-2 producer) responds to exogenous AI-2 by modulating expression of genes involved in mechanisms typically associated with QS in other bacteria, such as motility, DNA repair, and nitrogen fixation. Interestingly, the metabolism of AI-2-induced Z. mobilis cells seems to favor ethanol production over biomass accumulation, probably as an adaptation to the high-energy demand of N2 fixation. This opens the possibility of employing AI-2 during the industrial production of second-generation ethanol, as a way to boost N2 fixation by these bacteria, which could reduce costs associated with the use of nitrogen-based fertilizers, without compromising ethanol production in industrial plants.Two types of graphite/diamond (GD) particles with different ash content was applied to prepare new electroconductive polylactide (PLA)-based nanocomposites. Four samples of nanocomposites for each type of GD particles with mass fraction 0.01, 0.05, 0.10, and 0.15 were prepared via an easily scalable method-melt blending. The samples were subjected to the studies of electrical properties via broadband dielectric spectroscopy. The results indicated up to eight orders of magnitude improvement in the electrical conductivity and electrical permittivity of the most loaded nanocomposites, in reference to the neat PLA. Additionally, the influence of ash content on the electrical conductivity of the nanocomposites revealed that technologically less-demanding fillers, i.e., of higher ash content, were the most beneficial in the light of nanofiller dispersibility and the final properties.There are many studies whose results reveal possible risk factors for developing an infection after a total knee arthroplasty (TKA). The objective of this study is to analyse the risk factors that depend on the hospital and, especially, if the patellar replacement influences the appearance of periprosthetic infection. A retrospective study was performed, where data from the electronic registry of patients of people over 18 and who had undergone TKA, between the years 2015 and 2018, were reviewed. Dependent variables on the patients and the health care system were collected. The possible associations between the factors and the appearance of infection after TKA were studied using univariate and multivariate regression analyses. A total of 907 primary knee arthroplasties were included in the study. Those patients who had their patella replaced had a significantly higher risk of developing an infection (OR 2.07; 95% confidence interval 1.01-6.31). Likewise, patients who underwent surgery by surgeons with more than 10 years of experience were more than twice as likely to become infected than those operated on by younger surgeons (OR 2.64; 95%CI 1.01-6.97). Male patients were also found to be three times more likely to be infected than women (OR 2.99; 95%CI 1.32-5.74). (3) Results Significant increases in self-esteem, belief in our own abilities (self-confidence) and improvement in the ability to engage in social interactions were observed in the group of scuba divers with disabilities compared to individuals with disabilities not practicing diving. The respondents also declared an improvement in the efficiency of the respiratory system and stressed that a water environment increased their motor skills and relieved pain. (4) Conclusions Diving can become one of the forms of rehabilitation for people with disabilities. There is a need for further research to expand our understanding of the benefits and possible health problems involved in diving.

Relational aggression-or behavior intended to harm the relationships of its victims-has been the focus of interdisciplinary study across developmental, clinical, personality, and social psychology in the last several decades. One of the primary measures used to assess relational aggression in youth is the Children's Social Behavior Scale (CSBS; Crick & Grotpeter, 1995), but despite its common usage, the construct validity of this measure has not been comprehensively assessed. In the present study, we used a multistage construct validity framework to thoroughly investigate the nature of relational aggression across six community samples totaling 3,102 youth and their caregivers. We used multiple methods to map the reliability, internal or structural validity, and external validity of this scale. Through these analyses, we found that CSBS Relational Aggression demonstrated strong internal consistency, test-retest, and interrater reliability as well as a robust single factor structure and invariance across multiple demographic groups. External validity analyses positioned relational aggression within a theoretically consistent nomological net including psychopathology, personality, and social developmental factors. Contrary to concerns about the validity of self- and parent-reports of relational aggression, both parent- and youth-report forms of the CSBS Relational Aggression scale demonstrated strong reliability and validity. While construct validation has received inadequate attention in the psychological literature to date, through this project, we aimed to demonstrate how this approach may be used to investigate existing measures across psychological research. Recent studies have examined the extent to which alcohol dependence (AD) criteria prospectively predict the course of AD. Critically, these studies have lacked a developmental perspective. However, the differential performance of criteria by age might indicate overendorsement in younger individuals. The current study examined AD criteria in terms of persistence and prediction of AD course and alcohol use by age in order to identify criteria that are likely to be overly endorsed by younger individuals.
The current study used longitudinal data from the National Epidemiologic Survey on Alcohol and Related Conditions to depict age differences in rates of new onset, recurrence, and persistence for each AD criterion, thereby showing how these three factors contribute to the overall age-prevalence curve of each criterion. Additionally, we tested age moderation of the predictive association between each criterion at baseline and new onset, recurrence, and persistence of syndromal AD.
Some criteria (particularly, persistent desire or unsuccessful efforts to cut down or control drinking, and drinking despite physical/psychological problems) are both less persistent and less predictive of AD course among younger adults compared to older adults.

However, peers may also play a significant role in trainees' development, particularly during group supervision. Fifty-three trainees from 10 supervision groups completed measures of peer relationship, supervisory working alliance (SWA), supervision satisfaction (SAT), and counseling self-efficacy (CSE) at three time points during a 20-week counseling practicum at a department clinic in Hong Kong. Multilevel modeling was conducted to test the hypothesis that both peer relationship and SWA contribute to SAT and CSE. The path model results showed that higher within- and between-trainee SWA was associated with higher SAT, and higher between-trainee SWA was associated with higher CSE. Better within- and between-trainee peer relationship was associated with higher CSE, but not with SAT. Thus, when peer relationship and SWA were entered as predictors into the same analysis and allowed to control for each other's effects, they each have unique contributions to the outcome of group supervision.
Relational aggression-or behavior intended to harm the relationships of its victims-has been the focus of interdisciplinary study across developmental, clinical, personality, and social psychology in the last several decades. One of the primary measures used to assess relational aggression in youth is the Children's Social Behavior Scale (CSBS; Crick & Grotpeter, 1995), but despite its common usage, the construct validity of this measure has not been comprehensively assessed. In the present study, we used a multistage construct validity framework to thoroughly investigate the nature of relational aggression across six community samples totaling 3,102 youth and their caregivers. We used multiple methods to map the reliability, internal or structural validity, and external validity of this scale. Through these analyses, we found that CSBS Relational Aggression demonstrated strong internal consistency, test-retest, and interrater reliability as well as a robust single factor structure and invariance across multiple demographic groups. External validity analyses positioned relational aggression within a theoretically consistent nomological net including psychopathology, personality, and social developmental factors. Contrary to concerns about the validity of self- and parent-reports of relational aggression, both parent- and youth-report forms of the CSBS Relational Aggression scale demonstrated strong reliability and validity. Critically, these studies have lacked a developmental perspective. However, the differential performance of criteria by age might indicate overendorsement in younger individuals. The current study examined AD criteria in terms of persistence and prediction of AD course and alcohol use by age in order to identify criteria that are likely to be overly endorsed by younger individuals. The current study used longitudinal data from the National Epidemiologic Survey on Alcohol and Related Conditions to depict age differences in rates of new onset, recurrence, and persistence for each AD criterion, thereby showing how these three factors contribute to the overall age-prevalence curve of each criterion. Additionally, we tested age moderation of the predictive association between each criterion at baseline and new onset, recurrence, and persistence of syndromal AD. Some criteria (particularly, persistent desire or unsuccessful efforts to cut down or control drinking, and drinking despite physical/psychological problems) are both less persistent and less predictive of AD course among younger adults compared to older adults. The scores of PC1 and PC2 were thereby used for a genome-wide association study by combining 44,134 SNPs of this panel. A total of 27, 1, 5, and 3 SNPs were significantly (P 0.8) to these SNPs. Of them, GRMZM2G142870, GRMZM2G045531, and GRMZM2G143512 were individually annotated as ABC transporter C family member 14, zinc transporter 3, and heavy metal ATPase10. A candidate gene association analysis further verified that GRMZM2G142870 and GRMZM2G045531 affect Zn and Mn accumulations, respectively. Evaluation of contrasting allele ratios in elite lines indicated that the majority of the alleles correlating with higher Zn or Cu had not been utilized in maize breeding. Integration of more "higher-accumulation" alleles in the elite lines will be practical for improving Zn and Cu accumulations in maize. Our findings contribute to genetic revelation and molecular marker-assisted selection of microelement accumulations in maize.In the face of global food security crises, it is necessary to boost agricultural production. One factor hampering the attempts to increase food production is elevated soil salinity, which can be due to salt that is naturally present in the soil or a consequence of excessive or prolonged irrigation or application of fertiliser. In response to environmental stresses, plants activate multiple molecular mechanisms, including the timely activation of stress-responsive transcriptional networks. However, in the case of salt stress, the combined effects of the initial osmotic shock and the subsequent ion-specific stress increase the complexity in the selective regulation of gene expressions involved in restoring or maintaining osmotic balance, ion homeostasis and reactive oxygen species scavenging. Histone modifications and chromatin remodelling are important epigenetic processes that regulate gene expressions by modifying the chromatin status and recruiting transcription regulators. In this review, we have specifically summarised the currently available knowledge on histone modifications and chromatin remodelling in relation to plant responses to salt stress. Current findings have revealed the functional importance of chromatin modifiers in regulating salt tolerance and identified the effector genes affected by epigenetic modifications, although counteraction between modifiers within the same family may occur. Emerging evidence has also illustrated the crosstalk between epigenetic modifications and hormone signalling pathways which involves formation of protein complexes. With an improved understanding of these processes, plant breeders will be able to develop alternative strategies using genome editing technologies for crop improvement.
To determine the relationship between nursing students' individual values, inclination to ethical and professional nursing values.
This cross-sectional study was conducted with 315 nursing students in Turkey. Data were collected using the student information form, the Portrait Values Scale, the Inclination to Ethical Values Scale, and Nursing Professional Values Scale.
The students' basic values are Tradition and Universalism. It was determined that an inclination toward ethical and professional values was quite high.
The fact that nursing students are aware of their individual values how these values affect behaviour can be a guide to human focused values in professional lifes.

Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a common chronic and relapsing, non-contagious inflammatory skin disorder, characterized by skin barrier impairment and baseline immune irregularities. The literature on the relationship between AD and cutaneous delayed-type hypersensitivity is inconclusive. There is an ongoing debate whether contact sensibility (CS) is found more or less often among patients with AD. Aim of the study was to evaluate the incidence of contact sensitivity (positive patch test reactions) in patients with and without AD. We patch tested a total of 2143 patients (563 men and 1580 women). There were 226 patients with history of AD; 61 (27%) men and 165 (73%) women. The patient group without AD consisted of 1917 patients, 502 (26%) male and 1415 (74%) female patients, who were referred to our Department with clinical suspicion of allergic contact dermatitis (ACD). A patch test was performed with the baseline series, and readings were performed on days D2, D3, and D7. Among patients with AD, 109 (48.2%) had a positive patch test reaction to at least one allergen, whereas 1094 (57.1%) patients with no history of AD had a positive patch test reaction. The most common positive allergens in patients with AD were nickel (II) sulfate (13.3%), thimerosal (12.4%), cobalt (II) chloride (11.5%), methylisothiazolinone (MI) (8.4%), fragrance mix I (6.6%), potassium dichromate (5.3%), methyldibromo glutaronitrile (4.0%), and carba mix (4.0%). The results of our study agree with previous findings that there is no significant difference in prevalence of CS between the atopic and nonatopic populations.In October 2020, highly pathogenic avian influenza A(H5N8) viruses were detected in 2 dead swans in Inner Mongolia, China. However, more and more survivors leave persistent low grade organ dysfunctions, depend on continues organ support, need to stay in ICU, and become CCI patients. These patients experience a persistent immune dysregulation with persistent inflammation, immunosuppression, and catabolic syndrome. Therefore, malnutrition is an important feature of patients with CCI, and nutritional support is a crucial part of their treatment. The main strategies of nutritional support are as follows providing sufficient calories and proteins with appropriate anabolic agents to promote anabolic metabolism, using immunomodulators to improve immune suppression and inflammatory responses, and supplementing micronutrients to enhance metabolic support. In this review, the nutritional assessment, calorie assessment, protein assessment and other nutrient supplementation (such as β blocker, testosterone and oxandrolone, immunonutrition, vitamins) of CCI patients were reviewed, so as to provide reference for the treatment of CCI.Paraquat is a quaternary ammonium herbicide, which can be distributed in lung, liver, kidney, heart, brain and other organs through blood circulation, leading to multiple organ failure, especially lung injury. These patients experience a persistent immune dysregulation with persistent inflammation, immunosuppression, and catabolic syndrome. Therefore, malnutrition is an important feature of patients with CCI, and nutritional support is a crucial part of their treatment. The main strategies of nutritional support are as follows providing sufficient calories and proteins with appropriate anabolic agents to promote anabolic metabolism, using immunomodulators to improve immune suppression and inflammatory responses, and supplementing micronutrients to enhance metabolic support. The clinical audit is an important evaluation tool to ensure quality assurance. A clinical audit requirement for interns during their emergency department (ED) term may be a valuable educational activity.
The Emergency Audit Initiative (EAI) Program was initiated at Redcliffe Hospital in January 2018. Interns, who were paired with a staff specialist audit mentor, chose a topic of interest and carried out a clinical audit during their 10-week ED term. At the end of term, interns formally presented audit findings in a grand round setting. Interns and staff specialists were surveyed at the end of the intern year regarding aspects of the program. Surveys aimed to assess (1) value of the program as an educational activity, (2) availability of time and resources to conduct the audit, and (3) perceived impact on practice.
During the first year of the program, 27 clinical audits were carried out. 16 interns (59%) and 8 staff specialists (57%) responded to the surveys. Interns and staff specialists reported that the audit was a valuable educational experience (88% and 100%). Interns also reported that they had adequate time (94%) and resources (81%) to conduct the audit. Interns and staff specialists however reported only a modest impact on clinical practice because of the audit program.
Our experience with the EAI program suggests that incorporating a clinical audit requirement into the ED term is possible. Interns and staff specialists reported it to be a beneficial educational and professional development activity.

While gender bias in medicine, including physician training, has been well described, less is known about gender bias in the selection process for post graduate residency training programs. This analysis reviews the potential role of gender on resident selection for an internal medicine residency program.
File review and interview overall and component scores were analyzed based on the gender of the applicant. File review scores were further analyzed based on the reviewer's gender.
Women applicants scored higher than men applicants on their file review. There were no differences in any one component score except for leadership in art. Women file reviewers scored applicants higher than men file reviewers, but there was no difference between gender scores. There was no difference in overall or component interview scores between men or women applicants. Scoring did not impact the expected rank performance of applicants based on gender at any stage of the selection process.

Skilled healthcare professionals are critical for providing quality healthcare for children with cancer globally. Training curricula addressing the knowledge needs in infection care and prevention (ICP) in cancer are scarce.
We implemented a 10-week blended course in ICP. The distance learning had four 2-week modules Infectious Complications, Quality in Infection Care, Quality in Infection Prevention, and Sustainability, Research, and Dissemination. Each module had pre- and post-tests and weekly webinars. The 2-week in-person learning had lectures, group exercises, clinical observations, hospital and laboratory tours, and ended in an annual conference. An individual project developed during the distance learning was presented in the in-person workshop. Course attendance criteria were English language proficiency and participants' role in ICP at their institutions.
Twenty-two students from 17 hospitals in 10 countries completed the course, developed a project, and answered surveys covering knowledge assessments and satisfaction, and 6-month course and 1-year project follow-ups. Pretest and post-test scores revealed knowledge improvement (
< .001). Participants rated the distance learning as outstanding (63%) or good (28%); and the in-person as outstanding (87%). In the follow-up survey, graduates felt more comfortable at managing infections and participated more in quality improvement and academics at their institutions. Seventeen participants (77%) took steps to implement their study projects, and 9 were successful. Collaboration and networking of trainees were notable outcomes.
The ICP course is a resource to improve knowledge, engage graduates in network collaborations, and a reliable model to develop other thematic healthcare global training programs.

Mesenteric cysts are rare intra-abdominal tumours often found incidentally on imaging studies or during surgery. The clinical presentation is various with most subjects being asymptomatic, but complications can occur such as torsion, rupture, hemorrhage or obstruction of nearby structures. The etiology of mesenteric cysts remains uncertain. Complete surgical resection is preferred, although there are no specific guidelines concerning optimal treatment strategy.
We present a 61-year-old male with type 2 diabetes mellitus who underwent a routine abdominal ultrasound examination which accidentally uncovered a large mass. The patient had no complaints nor any physical discomfort. Magnetic resonance imaging and computed tomography revealed a giant thin-walled cyst with multiple septa spanning 24 x 24 cm
originating from the mesentery. The primary differential diagnosis included a mesenteric cyst, a hydatid cyst due to Echinococcus or malignancy. After multidisciplinary team approach, open surgical exploratioopen or laparoscopic surgery should be determined based on the perioperative risk.This paper describes the development and implementation of a robust lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) cultural competence curriculum for training health and human service providers across New York State. Between 2013-2018, The National LGBT Cancer Network developed and published Best Practices in Creating and Delivering LGBTQ Cultural Competency Trainings for Health and Social Service Agencies and designed a training curriculum. They also conducted Train the Trainer sessions, and evaluated pre- and post- curriculum knowledge, attitudes, self-efficacy and intentions of individuals who attended educational sessions conducted by the certified trainers. Most respondents improved from pretest to posttest, with significant improvements in knowledge, attitudes, self-efficacy and intentions. An increase in self-efficacy was significantly associated with pre- to posttest improvement in respondent intention. Future research should focus on what components specifically bolster self-efficacy and intention. Increasing the number of health and human service providers who are trained to address the needs of this population is an important step toward providing culturally competent care.A comprehensive review of the literature was performed on migration of substances from packaging materials into dry foods, specifically those with surfaces containing no free fats or oils. Historically, migration from food packaging to dry foods has been assumed to be minimal. However, several recent publications have reported concentrations of migrants into dry foods that are substantially higher than anticipated. The goal of this review is to provide a comprehensive summary of recent studies that examined migration to dry foods or dry food simulants, observe and assess common migrants, and report the highest migration values. Focusing on the packaging materials and migrants that exhibit the highest migration values, this review divided the studies into two categories 1) analysis of food products in commercial packaging taken directly from grocery store shelves, and 2) analysis of food products and food simulants in contact with packaging or other material fortified with known quantities of a migrant. Discussions include the examination of migration testing methods, viability of different food simulants, and variables that affect migration behaviour. These include the physicochemical properties of both the migrant and food (i.e. volatility, molecular size, structure, food composition and particle size) and factors pertaining to the packaging material and the environment (i.e. temperature, humidity, and the presence of a secondary barrier). Information gaps and remaining questions are also identified and discussed.
Urogenital dysfunction caused by iatrogenic injury to the autonomic nerves persists as a common complication of rectal cancer surgery. This study aims to investigate the relationship between autonomic nerves and the 'holy plane' with the intention of identifying hazardous sites at which urogenital dysfunction may occur.
Dissection of the 'holy plane' and preparation of the autonomic nerves was performed on
-embalmed bodies. The morphology of the inferior hypogastric plexus and its distance to nearby reference points was recorded.
In all 28 bodies (13 females, 15 males), we observed that the autonomic nerves were enveloped in parietal pelvic fascia and thereby absent from the 'holy plane' of total mesorectal excision. The midpoint of the inferior hypogastric plexus resided 85 mm from the sacral promontory, and 47 mm from the coccygeal apex. Both distances were significantly longer in men than in women (
< 0.01,
< 0.01). The ureter coursed 11 mm superiorly to the inferior hypogastric plexus. Distal to the ischial spine, it ran 13 mm laterally to the mesorectal fascia. Differences between females and males were not statistically significant (
= 0.32,
= 0.85).

In decimolar aqueous solutions, zirconium oxychloride octahydrate forms several micrometer long and approximately 15 nm wide thin ribbons through the reaction with excess amounts of the sodium salt of 1-hydroxyethane-1,1-diphosphonic acid (HEDP, known as etidronic acid). Primarily deduced from SAXS, TEM, EXAFS and solid-state NMR analyses, a consistent structural model enables congruous explanations for the colloidal behaviour of the purified ribbons as well as of their reaction products with ammonia and amines, respectively. Additionally, the QTAIM theory was employed to explain the differences in the properties of the 2 stackings. The most interesting compound for thermoelectric applications has been found to be Pb2Bi2Te5 with the stacking B sequence. Hybrid/moiré interlayer and intralayer excitons have been realized in twisted two-dimensional transition metal chalcogenides (2D-TMD) due to variation in local moiré potential within a moiré supercell. Though moiré excitons have been detected in TMD heterostructures by macroscopic spectroscopic techniques, their spatial distribution is experimentally unknown. In the present work, using high-resolution scanning transmission electron microscopy (STEM) and electron energy-loss spectroscopy (EELS), we explore the effect of the twist angle in MoS2/WSe2 heterostructures. We observe weak interaction between the layers at higher twist angles (>5°) and stronger interaction for lower twist angles. The optical response of the heterostructure varies within the moiré supercell, with a lower energy absorption peak appearing in regions with the AA stacking.Proteinaceous aggregates containing α-synuclein protein called Lewy bodies in the substantia nigra is a hallmark of Parkinson's disease. The molecular mechanisms of Lewy body formation and associated neuronal loss remain largely unknown. To gain insights into proteins and pathways associated with Lewy body pathology, we performed quantitative profiling of the proteome. We analyzed substantia nigra tissue from 51 subjects arranged into three groups cases with Lewy body pathology, Lewy body-negative controls with matching neuronal loss, and controls with no neuronal loss. Using a label-free liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) approach, we characterized the proteome both in terms of protein abundances and peptide modifications. The CS-induced metabolic disorder was also regulated by algal oil, which was characterized by the modulations of tryptophan metabolism, phospholipid metabolism, and bile acid metabolism. Scanning tunneling microscopy and spectroscopy (STM/STS) measurements revealed that the surface state possesses a Dirac cone with the Dirac point just below the Fermi level by 12 meV. The normalized dI/dV spectra suggest a gap opening with Δmag ∼55 meV, resulting in the Fermi level within the opened gap. Ionic-liquid gated-transport measurements also support the Dirac point just below the Fermi level and the presence of the magnetic gap. The chemical potential of the surface state can be fully tuned by ionic-liquid gating, and thus the Fe-doped BSTS provides an ideal platform to investigate exotic quantum topological phenomena.Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM), a malignant, highly aggressive, grade IV brain tumor, which rapidly infiltrates into the nearby tissue, has drawn a significant amount of attention because of its poor prognosis and the limited treatment options available. For this purpose, high performance ion mobility separation mass spectrometry (IMS MS) was thoroughly optimized to allow the discovery of GBM-specific structures and the assessment of their roles as tumor markers or possible associated antigens. GG separation by IMS according to the charge state, carbohydrate chain length, degree of sialylation, and ceramide composition led to the identification of no less than 160 distinct components, which represents 3-fold the number of structures identified before.
