Molecular docking of synthetic compounds was performed to verify the binding interactions of ligand with the active site of enzyme. This study had identified a number of potential α-glucosidase inhibitors that can be used for further research to identify a potent therapeutic agent against diabetes.Antibiotic resistance among clinically significant bacterial pathogens, such as methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and vancomycin-resistant S. aureus (VRSA) is becoming a prevalent threat to public health, and new antibacterial agents with novel mechanisms of action hence are in an urgent need. As a part of continuing effort to develop antibacterial agents, we rationally designed and synthesized two series of 4,5-dihydroisoxazol-5-yl and 4,5-dihydroisoxazol-3-yl-containing benzamide derivatives that targeted the bacterial cell division protein FtsZ. Evaluation of their activity against a panel of Gram-positive and -negative pathogens revealed that compound A16 possessing the 4,5-dihydroisoxazol-5-yl group showed outstanding antibacterial activity (MIC, ≤0.125-0.5 μg/mL) against various testing strains, including methicillin-resistant, penicillin-resistant and clinical isolated S. aureus strains. Besides, further mouse infection model revealed that A16 could be effective in vivo and non-toxic to Hela cells. Finally, a detailed discussion of structure-activity relationships was conducted, referring to the docking results. It is worth noting that substituting a 4,5-dihydroisoxazole ring for the isoxazole ring not only broadened the antibacterial spectrum but also resulted in a significant increase in antibacterial activity against S. aureus strains. To elaborate our CB1R PAM library, we report the rational design and molecular-pharmacology profiling of several 2-phenylindole analogs modified at the "site-III" aromatic ring. The comprehensive structure-activity relationship (SAR) investigation demonstrates that attaching small lipophilic functional groups on the ortho-position of the GAT211 site-III phenyl ring could markedly enhance CB1R ago-PAM activity. Select site-III modifications also improved GAT211's water solubility. Among the various anti QS agents identified, especially those of natural origin, furanones or acylatedhomoserine lactones (AHLs) are most popular. Semi-synthetic and synthetic inhibitors have shown greatest potential and have inspired chemists to design synthetically modified QS inhibitors with lactone moiety. Cognitive impairment, an important complication in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), seriously affects self-management of the disease and quality of life (QoL). As an exercise-based intervention programme, pulmonary rehabilitation (PR)-especially aerobic exercise (mainly mind-body exercise) and resistance exercise (RE)-has been proposed for its potential effectiveness in improving cognitive function. However, there is still a lack of strong evidence for PR's effectiveness. In this study, we expect to clarify the effects of pulmonary-based Qigong exercise and elastic band-based RE on cognitive function in patients with COPD and to fill in the relevant evidence blanks.
This study is a single-centre randomised controlled trial with assessor and data analyst blinding. We will recruit 108 participants with stable COPD starting on 23 December 2019, and randomly allocate them into the pulmonary-based Qigong exercise group, elastic band-based RE group, pulmonary-based Qigong exercise andewed journals and presented at academic conferences.

There are multiple configurations of specialist nurses working in the field of Parkinson's. Parkinson's Nurse Specialists (PNSs) are recognised as playing a pivotal role; however, there is little published evidence to demonstrate their effectiveness. Further evidence is needed to establish which aspects of the PNSs provide the greatest benefit to people with Parkinson's and their families, and the cost-effectiveness of different models of care.
Realist approaches explain how and why programmes work (or not) through striving to answer the question what works, for whom and under what circumstances. This research uses a realist evaluation and aims to integrate an economic analysis within the realist framework. We refer to this as 'realist economic evaluation'. It comprises four phases (1) developing resource-sensitive initial programme theories (IPTs) using surveys to gain a better understanding of the role and impact (costs and benefits) of the PNSs; (2) testing the IPTs through qualitative interviews and qis study. Key findings will be disseminated throughout the duration of the project online and through social media, and via annual and regional Parkinson's meetings and the Parkinson's UK Excellence Network. Academic dissemination will occur through publication and conference presentations.
The Alberta Prostate Cancer Research Initiative (APCaRI) Registry and Biorepository was established in 2014 by the APCaRI to facilitate the collection of clinical and patient-reported data, biospecimen, to measure prostate cancer outcomes and to support the development and clinical translation of innovative technologies to better diagnose and predict outcomes for patients with prostate cancer.
Men suspected with prostate cancer and referred to Urology centres in Alberta were enrolled in the APCaRI 01 study, while men with a prior prostate cancer diagnosis participated in the APCaRI 03 study from 1 July 2014 to 30 June 2019. The APCaRI Registry and Biorepository links biospecimens and data from a wide representation of patients drawn from an Alberta population of more than 4 million.
From 1 July 2014 to 30 June 2019, total APCaRI 01 and 03 study recruitment was 3754 men; 142 (4%) of these men withdrew in full, 65 men (2%) withdrew biospecimens and 123 men (3%) died of any cause. To analyse the prevalence and determinants of turnover intention (TI) among primary health workers (PHWs) in China to provide evidence for improving retention measures.
Systemic review and meta-analysis.
Four English-language databases (PubMed, EMBASE, Cochrane Library, PsycINFO) and three Chinese databases (CNKI, CSPD, CBM) were searched up to October 2019.
Eligible studies were observational or descriptive studies conducted in mainland China. The prevalence of TI among health workers and related factors had to be explicitly reported in each included study.
Data were extracted by one author and reviewed independently by two other authors. For each factor analysed by a meta-analysis, the factor was required to be the same across different studies, and at least three studies had to include it. The quality of studies was assessed using the Newcastle-Ottawa Scale and heterogeneity was evaluated using the I
statistic.
We identified 16 cross-sectional studies investigating a total of 37 672 PHWs. Thed be made to improve conditions in both work-related areas and areas outside of work. Policymakers should continue to improve reward systems, the construction of infrastructure and promotion systems, and pay more attention to PHWs' lives outside of work and meet their living needs.
To determine the incidence and predictors of mortality among children admitted to the paediatric intensive care unit (PICU) at the University of Gondar comprehensive specialised hospital, northwest Ethiopia.
A single-centre prospective observational cohort study.
A total of 313 children admitted to the ICU of the University of Gondar comprehensive specialised hospital during a one-and-a-half-year period.
Data were collected using standard case record form, physical examination and patient document review. Clinical characteristics such as systolic blood pressure, pupillary light reflex, oxygen saturation and need for mechanical ventilation (MV) were assessed and documented within the first hour of admission and entered into an electronic application to calculate the modified Pediatric Index of Mortality 2 (PIM 2) Score. We fitted the Cox proportional hazards model to identify predictors of mortality.
The median age at admission was 48 months with IQR 12-122, 28.1% were infants and adolescents accounted for 21.

To investigate health anxiety-related factors in the early stages of pandemic in Turkey.
This study included 1046 participants who responded to the online survey anonymously between 28 March and 04 April 2020.
Demographic data, postpandemic attitudes towards the elderly and precaution-taking behaviors were health anxiety-related factors. The main predictors of the health anxiety were the level of hopelessness, perception of self, time spent on social media, and following COVID-19 pandemic-related news.
The results of this study are important in terms of understanding the health anxiety during the pandemic and providing data support for the proper interventions.
The results of this study are important in terms of understanding the health anxiety during the pandemic and providing data support for the proper interventions.We investigated the applicability of ssGBLUP methodology under the autoregressive model (H-AR) for genomic evaluation of longitudinal reproductive traits in Portuguese Holstein cattle. The genotype data of 1,230 bulls and 1,645 cows were considered in our study. The reproductive traits evaluated were interval from calving to first service (ICF), calving interval (CI) and daughter pregnancy rate (DPR) measured during the first four parities. Reliability and rank correlation were used to compare the H-AR with the traditional pedigree-based autoregressive models (A-AR). In addition, a validation study was performed considering different scenarios. Higher genomic estimated breeding values (GEBV) reliabilities were obtained for genotyped bulls when evaluated under the H-AR model, with emphasis on bulls with less than 9 daughters. For this group, the averages of GEBV reliabilities corresponded to 0.62, 0.69 and 0.62 for ICF, CI and DPR, respectively, while the averages obtained by the A-AR model were 0.27, 0.15 and 0.16. The validation study was favourable to H-AR. The best results were observed in the scenario where genotyped cows were combined with contributing bulls (genotyped bulls with daughter or relationship information in the population). Overall, the results suggest that ssGBLUP methodology under the autoregressive model is a feasible and applicable approach to be used in genomic analyses of longitudinal reproductive traits in Portuguese Holstein cattle.

The genotype data of 1,230 bulls and 1,645 cows were considered in our study. The reproductive traits evaluated were interval from calving to first service (ICF), calving interval (CI) and daughter pregnancy rate (DPR) measured during the first four parities. Reliability and rank correlation were used to compare the H-AR with the traditional pedigree-based autoregressive models (A-AR). In addition, a validation study was performed considering different scenarios. Higher genomic estimated breeding values (GEBV) reliabilities were obtained for genotyped bulls when evaluated under the H-AR model, with emphasis on bulls with less than 9 daughters. For this group, the averages of GEBV reliabilities corresponded to 0.62, 0.69 and 0.62 for ICF, CI and DPR, respectively, while the averages obtained by the A-AR model were 0.27, 0.15 and 0.16. The validation study was favourable to H-AR. The best results were observed in the scenario where genotyped cows were combined with contributing bulls (genotyped bulls with daughter or relationship information in the population). Many studies have been conducted to evaluate the choroid in many different ocular diseases. However, the results regarding CT in DM, especially in patients with DR, are various as thickened, thinned, or no changes. Thus, the status of the choroid in patients with DM with or without DR remains controversial between researchers. In this systematic review, we reviewed 18 articles that were done to investigate the relationship between structural choroidal changes in diabetic patients with different stages of DR, focusing on CT, CVI, and some other parameters evaluating choroidal changes.Secondary cardiac tumors are **** more common than primary tumors. We report the case of a 64-year-old man who had been treated for recurrent metastatic RCC. He presented with shortness of breath, and TEE (transthoracic echocardiography) revealed new biventricular hypertrophy and small-to-moderate circumferential pericardial effusion. Cardiac magnetic resonance demonstrated multiple lesions in both the ventricular walls, highly suspicious for metastasis. A tissue biopsy was obtained, which was inconclusive due to the small sample size. The patient's disease progressively worsened, and, subsequently, he died from cardiac and respiratory failure secondary to the underlying advanced metastatic disease. Here, we present the case of a 64-year-old Filipino male with COVID-19 ICU delirium status post-intubation and ventilation. His hospital course was complicated by the medical staff's assumption that the patient spoke Spanish and improved after being assigned a Tagalog-speaking nurse who facilitated family communication. This case highlights the importance of cultural competency and communication in the management of COVID-19 associated ICU delirium. In particular, Filipino cultural practices and their intersection with healthcare in the larger context of providing culturally competent care are highlighted. The use of culturally competent care serves to assure the use of appropriate services and reduces the occurrence of medical errors due to misunderstandings caused by differences in language or culture. Familial involvement is critical for ICU delirium; however, the COVID-19 pandemic has required healthcare providers to think beyond conventional means. The use of technology to virtually communicate with family also serves as a helpful tool to treat signs of delirium. As seen in this case, a lack of understanding of the Filipino culture resulted in assumptions on the part of the healthcare provider which led to the prolongation of delirium in a COVID-19 ICU patient, but the correct utilization of cultural competence helped the patient recover successfully.Facial swelling has several etiologies. In patients with head and neck malignancies, this can include primary disease progression or iatrogenic causes. A 66-year-old man presented with increased facial swelling and erythema for 18 months. He had a history of baseline postoperative facial lymphedema following head and neck surgery and radiotherapy for desmoplastic melanoma approximately 20 years ago. However, his facial edema acutely worsened 18 months prior to presentation. A medication review revealed that he was regularly taking melatonin for the past two years. Approximately two weeks after cessation of melatonin therapy, the patient's facial appearance returned to baseline. In conclusion, it is important for clinicians to perform a thorough medication review for patients with facial swelling and erythema.

In this article, 20 ns molecular dynamic (MD) simulations and density functional theory (DFT) were used to investigate the absorption of CO2 molecules by some functionalized 1,8-diazabicyclo[5,4,0]-udec-7-ene (DBU)-based ILs. According to the MD results, the highest coordination number for NC is observed in the case of [DBUH+][Im-], which indicates that the functionalization of the imidazole anion by different alkyl groups decreases the interaction ability of the anion with CO2 molecules. The addition of water molecules to the ILs decreases the ability of the anion to interact with CO2 because of the hydrogen bond formation between the imidazole anions and water. Two different paths were proposed for CO2 absorption by the ILs, and the effect of alkyl groups on the kinetics and thermodynamics of the reaction was analyzed by using the M06-2X functional at the 6-311++G(d,p) level of theory in the gas phase and water. On the basis of the results, CO2 absorption is more favorable in [DBUH+][Im-], thermodynamically. Kinetic parameters show that the alkylation of the imidazole anion by ethyl, propyl, iso-propyl, and phenyl groups decreases the rate of CO2 absorption, because of the steric and electron-withdrawing effect of different alkyl groups. In the presence of water molecules, the lowest activation Gibbs energy is related to [DBUH+][Im-], which confirms the greater ability of this IL in CO2 absorption.This study focuses on the physico-geometrical constraints of the kinetics of the thermal decomposition of solids as exemplified by the thermal dehydration of α-oxalic acid dihydrate and the subsequent thermally induced sublimation/decomposition of the as-produced anhydride using the samples of crystalline particles (CPs) and a single crystal (SC) form. The CP and SC samples possess approximately similar geometrical figures with different sizes. The shapes of the original dihydrate and the as-produced anhydride from thermal dehydration are practically congruent. Therefore, proper evaluations of the current kinetic understanding of contracting geometry-type reactions were expected by the comparisons of the kinetic behaviors among different sample forms and thermally induced processes. The kinetic analysis of the thermal dehydration process revealed that the consecutive physico-geometrical processes comprised of an induction period, a surface reaction, and a phase boundary-controlled reaction, where distinguishable differences in the rate behavior were observed between the CP and SC samples for the surface reaction. On the other hand, the thermally induced sublimation/decomposition of the anhydride was described as an ideal single-step geometry contraction process, for which the CP and SC samples exhibited the same rate variation behavior under isothermal conditions. However, the sublimation/decomposition processes of the CP and SC samples were characterized by the different Arrhenius parameters, in which the compensative changes in the apparent activation energy and preexponential factor were apparent. Implications for the kinetic modeling of the solid-state reactions and the interpretation of kinetic results were obtained from the results of the comparative kinetic study for different sample forms and thermally induced processes.We use polarization-resolved femtosecond pump-probe spectroscopy to investigate the vibrations of hydrated protons in anionic (AOT) and cationic (CTAB/hexanol) reverse micelles in the frequency range 2000-3500 cm-1. On the basis of the results, CO2 absorption is more favorable in [DBUH+][Im-], thermodynamically. Kinetic parameters show that the alkylation of the imidazole anion by ethyl, propyl, iso-propyl, and phenyl groups decreases the rate of CO2 absorption, because of the steric and electron-withdrawing effect of different alkyl groups. In the presence of water molecules, the lowest activation Gibbs energy is related to [DBUH+][Im-], which confirms the greater ability of this IL in CO2 absorption.This study focuses on the physico-geometrical constraints of the kinetics of the thermal decomposition of solids as exemplified by the thermal dehydration of α-oxalic acid dihydrate and the subsequent thermally induced sublimation/decomposition of the as-produced anhydride using the samples of crystalline particles (CPs) and a single crystal (SC) form. The CP and SC samples possess approximately similar geometrical figures with different sizes. The shapes of the original dihydrate and the as-produced anhydride from thermal dehydration are practically congruent. Therefore, proper evaluations of the current kinetic understanding of contracting geometry-type reactions were expected by the comparisons of the kinetic behaviors among different sample forms and thermally induced processes. The kinetic analysis of the thermal dehydration process revealed that the consecutive physico-geometrical processes comprised of an induction period, a surface reaction, and a phase boundary-controlled reaction, where distinguishable differences in the rate behavior were observed between the CP and SC samples for the surface reaction. On the other hand, the thermally induced sublimation/decomposition of the anhydride was described as an ideal single-step geometry contraction process, for which the CP and SC samples exhibited the same rate variation behavior under isothermal conditions. However, the sublimation/decomposition processes of the CP and SC samples were characterized by the different Arrhenius parameters, in which the compensative changes in the apparent activation energy and preexponential factor were apparent. Implications for the kinetic modeling of the solid-state reactions and the interpretation of kinetic results were obtained from the results of the comparative kinetic study for different sample forms and thermally induced processes.We use polarization-resolved femtosecond pump-probe spectroscopy to investigate the vibrations of hydrated protons in anionic (AOT) and cationic (CTAB/hexanol) reverse micelles in the frequency range 2000-3500 cm-1. Expanding knowledge of the genetics of PPGL has been translated into clinical practice by the provision of widespread testing for inherited PPGL. In this review, we explore how the molecular stratification of PPGL is being utilized to enable more personalized strategies for investigation, surveillance and management of affected individuals and their families. Translating recent genetic research advances into clinical service can not only bring benefits through more accurate diagnosis and risk prediction but also challenges when there is a suboptimal evidence base for the clinical consequences or significance of rare genotypes. In such cases, clinical, biochemical, pathological and functional imaging assessments can all contribute to more accurate interpretation and clinical management.
Tuberculosis (TB) is caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) infection and is a major public health problem. Clinical challenges include the lack of a blood-based test for active disease. Current blood-based tests, such as QuantiFERON (QFT) do not distinguish active TB disease from asymptomatic Mtb infection.
We hypothesized that TruCulture, an immunomonitoring method for whole blood stimulation, could discriminate active disease from latent Mtb infection (LTBI). We stimulated whole blood from active TB patients and compared to LTBI donors. Mtb- specific antigens and live bacillus Calmette-Guerin (BCG) were used as stimuli, with direct comparison to QFT. Protein analyses were performed using conventional and digital ELISA, as well as Luminex.
TruCulture showed discrimination of active TB cases from LTBI (p < 0.0001 AUC = 0.81) as compared to QFT (p = 0.45 AUC = 0.56), based on an IFNγ readout after Mtb antigen stimulation. This result was replicated in an independent cohort (AUC = 0.89). In exploratory analyses, TB stratification could be further improved by the Mtb Ag/BCG IFNγ ratio (p < 0.0001 AUC = 0.91). Finally, the combination of digital ELISA and transcriptional analysis showed that LTBI donors with high IFNγ clustered with TB patients, suggesting the possibility to identify sub-clinical disease.

However, little is known about the algal-associated bacterial communities and their effects on larval settlement. In this study, the responses of larvae of the coral Pocillopora damicornis to calcified algae (Porolithon onkodes, Halimeda cylindracea, Halimeda opuntia and Amphiroa fragilissima) were evaluated. The results revealed that Por. onkodes and H. cylindracea significantly enhanced the rates of settlement and metamorphosis, whereas fewer larvae settled on Am. fragilissima and H. opuntia. Amplicon pyrosequencing of the V3-V4 region of 16S rDNA was applied to investigate the relationship between algal bacterial community and larval settlement. Principal coordinates analysis demonstrated that the bacterial community composition of H. opuntia was more similar to that of Am. fragilissima, but clearly distinct from those of H. cylindracea and Por. onkodes. Furthermore, the relative abundances of bacteria were highly diverse among different algae. The current review tries to recapitulate the published studies presenting paleogenomic evidence of disease diagnosis and kinship establishment for the Egyptian human remains. Regarding disease diagnosis, the prevailing literature was on paleogenomic evidence of infectious diseases in the human remains. A series of reports presented evidence for the presence of tuberculosis and/or malaria. In addition, there were solitary reports of the presence of leprosy, diphtheria, bacteremia, toxoplasmosis, schistosomiasis and leishmaniasis. On the contrary, paleogenomic evidence of the presence of rare diseases was quite scarce and mentioned only in two articles. On the other hand, kinship analysis of Egyptian human remains, including that of Tutankhamen, was done using both mitochondrial DNA sequences and nuclear DNA markers, to establish family relationships in four studies. It is clear that the field of molecular Egyptology is still a largely unexplored territory. Nevertheless, the paleogenomic investigation of Egyptian remains could make significant contributions to biomedical sciences [e.g. elucidation of co-evolution of human host-microbe interrelationship] as well as to evidence-based archeology.

GmMaT2 had higher activity towards isoflavone glucosides than GmMaT4. Overexpression in hairy roots of GmMaT2 and GmMaT4 produced more malonyldaidzin, malonylgenistin, and malonylglycitin, and resulted in more nodules than control. However, only GmMaT2 knockdown (KD) hairy roots showed reduced levels of malonyldaidzin, malonylgenistin, and malonylglycitin, and, likewise, reduced nodule numbers. These were consistent with the up-regulation of only GmMaT2 by rhizobial infection, and higher expression levels of early nodulation genes in GmMaT2- and GmMaT4-overexpressing roots, but lower only in GmMaT2-KD roots compared with control roots. To assess the role of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic in improving personal hygiene in Saudi Arabia.Methods We administered a questionnaire distributed online between 19 and 28 May 2020 to determine alterations in personal hygiene practices during this pandemic compared to the pre-pandemic phase.Results We included 211 respondents from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) in this study. Improvement at different levels was detected in all examined personal hygiene items compared to the pre-pandemic stage. The percentages of respondents who always washed their hands after coming **** home (34.1%), used soap to wash their hands (58.8%), used a hand sanitizer outside (5.2%), wore a face masks while outside (1.4%) and washed their hands before preparing and/or eating food (74.9%) was increased before the pandemic to 89.6%, 90%, 63.5%, 59.2% and 89.1% during the pandemic, respectively. The percentage of respondents who never shake hands with people they know increased from 0% before the pandemic to 62.6% during the pandemic. The mean duration of washing hands with soap significantly increased from 13.31 seconds before the pandemic to 28.01 seconds during the pandemic (p less than0.0001).

To describe the patterns of cervical spine injuries in an adult population in a major trauma center in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.Methods A retrospective cohort study including all adults with cervical spine injuries from 2014 to 2018 was conducted. All patient data with radiological evidence of injury involving the cervical spine were collected.Results The final sample size realized as 257 patients. Majority of the sample (85.6%) were male and the age ranged from 14-90 years (mean of 36.6 years±18.5 SD). Motor vehicle accidents were the most frequent mechanism of injury (92.6%, n=238). Single level of injury of the cervical spine was encountered in 52.9% (n=136) and 2 or more levels of injury were encountered in 47.1% (n=122) of patients. In total, 442 cervical spine injury levels were identified. At these levels, 559 fractures were observable radiologically. Associated head injury was present in 125 patients (48.6%). Only a small proportion (22.2%, n=57) had neurological sequelae.

To assess the role of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic in improving personal hygiene in Saudi Arabia.Methods We administered a questionnaire distributed online between 19 and 28 May 2020 to determine alterations in personal hygiene practices during this pandemic compared to the pre-pandemic phase.Results We included 211 respondents from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) in this study. Improvement at different levels was detected in all examined personal hygiene items compared to the pre-pandemic stage. The percentages of respondents who always washed their hands after coming back home (34.1%), used soap to wash their hands (58.8%), used a hand sanitizer outside (5.2%), wore a face masks while outside (1.4%) and washed their hands before preparing and/or eating food (74.9%) was increased before the pandemic to 89.6%, 90%, 63.5%, 59.2% and 89.1% during the pandemic, respectively. The percentage of respondents who never shake hands with people they know increased from 0% before the pandemic to 62.6% during the pandemic. The mean duration of washing hands with soap significantly increased from 13.31 seconds before the pandemic to 28.01 seconds during the pandemic (p less than0.0001). To describe the patterns of cervical spine injuries in an adult population in a major trauma center in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.Methods A retrospective cohort study including all adults with cervical spine injuries from 2014 to 2018 was conducted. All patient data with radiological evidence of injury involving the cervical spine were collected.Results The final sample size realized as 257 patients. Majority of the sample (85.6%) were male and the age ranged from 14-90 years (mean of 36.6 years±18.5 SD). Motor vehicle accidents were the most frequent mechanism of injury (92.6%, n=238). Single level of injury of the cervical spine was encountered in 52.9% (n=136) and 2 or more levels of injury were encountered in 47.1% (n=122) of patients. In total, 442 cervical spine injury levels were identified. At these levels, 559 fractures were observable radiologically. Associated head injury was present in 125 patients (48.6%). An Amyand's hernia is a rare disease where a vermiform appendix is found within an inguinal hernia sac. It is reported in the literature as having an incidence between 0.4%-1.0% of reported hernia cases. Typically, an incidental finding, Amyand's hernia is consequently found more frequently intra-operatively rather than preoperatively.
This case is a recount of a 56-year-old male, who presented in an outpatient setting for the evaluation of right inguinal pain and bulge. The patient was diagnosed with a vermiform appendix within the indirect hernia. The patient underwent elective repair of his inguinal hernia via Transabdominal Preperitoneal (TAPP) approach of the hernia with avoidance of appendectomy.

Severe atherosclerosis is a complicated condition in chronic kidney disease (CKD) and could lead to the operation's failure, when it was not detectable by pre-operative diagnostic imaging. Several methods including two-stage approach, synthetic graft, stent… have been reported, but complications (i.e. infection, graft rejection) are a matter of concern. The aim of this case is to provide the one-stage approach, in which renal transplantation and vascular reconstruction using fresh homografts from one brain-dead donor were used.
We reported a case of a 33-year-old male, who was diagnosed with CKD caused by chronic glomerulonephritis since the age of 28 and had been on hemodialysis. Not until did the transplantation take place that the operation team spotted the atherosclerotic external iliac artery, and vessel graft from the same donor was used and the renal was transplanted. The patient was discharged 14 days after the surgery without any complications.

Although the definite diagnosis is not as important in an acute setting and diagnosis is often made postoperatively, the preoperative differential diagnosis including the two should be considered for successful management.
We report a case of a 16-year-old young female who has a history of abdominal complaints but treated successfully conservatively. She eventually presented to us with suspicion of intestinal obstruction and image study confirmed an internal hernia. Operative findings showed a Meckel's diverticulum with tip adherent leading to the strangulation of a Treves' field pouch hernia. The encapsulated small bowel resulted in an intestinal obstruction of the terminal ileum.

HER2 status was defined using 2018 ASCO/CAP guidelines. We previously reported the mechanisms involved in the formation of liver MDBs in mouse model and in AH livers where MDBs had formed. To investigate the regulation of mRNAs expression and the probable role of lncRNAs in AH livers with MDBs, RNA-Seq analyses was further conducted to determine the mRNA and lncRNA expression profiles of the AH livers compared with the normal livers. It showed that different lncRNAs have different information contribution degrees by principal component analysis, and the integrated analysis of lncRNA-mRNA co-expression networks were linked to endocytosis, cell cycle, p53 signaling pathways in the human. Based on the co-expression networks, we identify 36 mRNAs that could be as potential biomarkers of alcoholic liver disease (ALD) and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). To our knowledge, this is the first report on the regulatory network of lncRNAs associated with liver MDB formation in human, and these results might offer new insights into the molecular mechanisms of liver MDB formation and the progression of AH to HCC.LncRNA PCGEM1 (PCGEM1) has been reported to exert essential effects on the development and progress of various tumors, while the detailed effects and possible mechanisms of PCGEM1 in cervical carcinoma remain unknown.
