To provide the definition, causes, and current recommendations for workup and treatment of acute infectious colitis in adults, a common medical problem of diverse cause.
The management of acute colitis in adults depend upon establishment of cause. Most forms of infectious colitis are treatable with antimicrobials. Multiplex polymerase chain reaction (PCR) followed by guided culture on PCR-positive pathogens can often confirm active infection while standard culture methods provide isolates for antibiotic susceptibility testing, subtyping, and Whole Genome Sequencing.

The gut-associated lymphoid tissue (GALT), the bulk of which is located in the ileo-colonic region comprises the lymphoid cells of the gastrointestinal tract and confers specific immunological responses. Repetitive antigenic stimulation of these cells predispose to a monoclonal proliferation of this tissue and the eventual development of lymphoma. The gastrointestinal tract is the most commonly involved site of extranodal lymphomas. This review will focus primarily on lymphomas of the ileo-colonic region (defined as the terminal ileum, the colon, and the rectum). We will discuss the epidemiology, pathogenesis, and presentation as well as current practices in diagnosis and management.
Despite the majority of the GALT to be located in the ileo-colonic region of the gut, the lymphomas in this location are relatively rare. However, the overall annual incidence of ileo-colonic lymphomas is steadily increasing. This entity has a varied spectrum of clinical presentations. Ileo-colonoscopy with adequate targeted ent while surgery is indicated for emergency presentations. Adequate endoscopic surveillance tools are lacking, yet imperative to prevent recurrence and improve prognosis.

Retrospective cross-sectional single-center study.
Using a noninvasive Fourier-domain swept-source anterior-segment optical coherence tomography system, shifts in myopic and astigmatic myopic eyes implanted with a pIOL with vaulting lower than 100 μm in miosis and over 4 years of follow-up were dynamically evaluated. Main outcome measures were pIOL dynamic vault (vault interval and vault range [VR]), crystalline lens density, and anterior subcapsular lens opacities. Crystalline lenses were examined under slitlamp microscopy, and lens density was evaluated using quantitative Scheimpflug images. Scheimpflug images were compared with a control group comprising eyes that were candidates for pIOL implantation.
The study population comprised 24 eyes from 16 patients previously implanted with a pIOL (5.82 ± 0.9 years) with central vault lower than 100 μm under photopically induced miosis. The mean vault value was 52 ± 19 µm under photopic light conditions and 113 ± 37 µm under scotopic conditions. The mean VR was 58 ± 24 μm. Anterior subcapsular lens opacities were found in only 1 eye (4.17%). The mean lens density was 7.94 ± 0.43, and no significant differences were observed compared with the control group.

Fifty-five outpatients scheduled for arthroscopic shoulder surgery were allocated randomly to receive SSNB or ISB. Technical problems with monitoring devices unrelated to the intervention led to exclusion of seven patients. The remaining 48 (n=24 in each group) were followed up for 24 h without drop-outs.
Patients received 10 ml of ropivacaine 1.0% wt/vol for both procedures.
Percentage lung ventilation on the operated side was the primary endpoint as assessed with electrical impedance tomography (EIT).

UCA1 silencing decreased tumor growth in vivo and impeded proliferation, migration, invasion, and induced apoptosis of GBC cells in vitro. Notably, UCA1 acted as a sponge for miR-613, which targeted SPOCK1 in GBC cells. Moreover, UCA1 enhancement reversed the repressive impact of miR-613 mimic on the malignancy of GBC cells. UCA1 regulated SPOCK1 expression through adsorbing miR-613. Furthermore, SPOCK1 elevation overturned UCA1 silencing mediated the malignant behaviors of GBC cells. Conclusion UCA1 knockdown suppressed GBC progression through downregulating SPOCK1 via sponging miR-613, providing an evidence for UCA1 as a target for GBC treatment.
Mini C-arm fluoroscopes are widely used by orthopaedic surgeons for intraoperative image guidance without the need for radiographers. This puts the responsibility for radiation exposure firmly with the operating surgeon. In order to maintain safe and best practice under U.K. Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations, one must limit radiation exposure and audit performance using national diagnostic reference levels (DRLs). In the case of the mini C-arm, there are no national DRLs. IR(ME)R, therefore, require the establishment of local DRLs by each hospital to act as an alternative guideline for safe radiation use. The aim of our audit was to establish local DRLs based on our experience operating with the use of the mini C-arm over the last 7 years.
This retrospective audit evaluates the end dose-area product (DAP) recorded for common trauma and orthopaedic procedures using the mini C-arm in a busy district general hospital.We present the quartile data and have set the cut-off point as the third quartile for formulating the local DRLs, consistent with the methodology for the conventional fluoroscope.

The clinical, social, and economic implications of Parkinson's disease (PD) are significant; disability occurs leading to a low quality of life (QoL). Information on the QoL of patients with PD and studies on the relationship between QoL and motor and cognitive function are necessary for both research and clinical use to make informed decisions in healthcare and rehabilitation. The aim of this study was to determine which scales are most used to assess QoL in patients with PD.
A literature search was conducted in MEDLINE, Scopus, CINAHL, PsycINFO, and Web of Science. Two authors independently identified eligible studies based on predefined inclusion criteria and extracted the data. Study quality and the risk of bias were assessed using the COSMIN checklist.
116 suitable studies were included, and 42 different instruments were identified. The most frequently used scales were the 39-items and 8-items Parkinson's Disease Questionnaire (PDQ-39) (PDQ-8). These findings suggest further investigation of existing PD outcome measures would benefit patients, researchers, and clinicians. Validated, universal outcome measures are required to allow comparisons across practice; therefore, we recommend that future researchers use a common set of outcome assessments based on the results of this review.

The aim of our study was to assess admission rate for syncope leading to cardiac rhythm management (CRM) procedures in Campania, the third-most-populous region of Italy, during COVID-19 lockdown. Methods Data were sourced from 14 referral hospitals in Campania from 10th March to 4 May 2020 (lockdown period) and during the same period in 2019. Among consecutive patients hospitalized for CRM procedures during the two observational periods, we retrospectively evaluated those admitted for arrhythmogenic syncope. Admission rate and the type of hospital admission between the two observational periods were compared. Results Among 951 consecutive patients hospitalized for CRM procedures, 204 were admitted for arrhythmogenic syncope leading to CRM procedures. A significant increase in admission was shown in 2020 compared to 2019 (26.4% vs. 18.3%; P = 0.003). Moreover, regarding the type of admission to hospitals, attendance at the emergency department (ED) significantly increased (83.5% vs. 56.1%; P less then 0.001); conversely, a significant decrease in urgent unplanned hospitalizations (6.2% vs. 35.5%; P less then 0.001) was observed during COVID-19 lockdown. Conclusions The hospitalization for arrhythmogenic syncope leading to CRM procedures increased during COVID-19 lockdown.

This article aimed to evaluate the efficacy of arthroereisis using synthetic polyethylene implants to correct excessive valgus deformity in pediatric patients with flexible valgus flatfoot.
Retrospective study of 20 pediatric patients with flexible valgus flatfoot, totaling 23 feet, between five and 14 years old, operated between January 2009 and July 2016. Clinical evaluations were performed by the Valenti podoscopic classification and the American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society criteria, based on radiographic images and podoscopic analysis. These patients underwent surgical treatment with the introduction of a synthetic implant in the sinus tarsi. Multiple linear regression analysis with Backward selection of variables, angles of pre and postoperative of radiographic images of the patients submitted to arthroereisis were performed.
The arthroereisis with interposition of synthetic material was satisfactory, considering that 91% of the cases presented clinical and radiographic improvement, with correction of angles and improvement in deformity degrees. Two cases presented implant loosening. The variables of the Bordelon and Pitch angles significantly influenced (p < 0,05) the improvement of the correction of deformity degrees.

Among the factors, population density is foremost in posing a challenge in controlling the COVID-19 contagion. In this piece, we have studied the district wise transmissions of the novel coronavirus in five south Indian states until 20th July 2020 and its relationship with their respective population density. The five states are purposefully selected for their records in better healthcare infrastructure vis-à-vis other states in India. The study uses Pearson's correlation coefficient to account for the direct impact of population density on COVID-19 transmission rate. Response surface methodology approach is used to validate the correlation between density and transmission rate and spatiotemporal dynamics is highlighted using Thiessen polygon method. Antibiotic resistance is increasing to dangerously high levels globally with subsequent higher medical costs, prolonged hospital stays and increased levels of mortality. Ensuring patients' knowledge, attitude, and proper use of antimicrobials is one of the strategies to control resistance. The aim of this study is to evaluate the public awareness, attitude, and practice regarding antimicrobial use and resistance in Kemissie Town, Northeast Ethiopia.
A community-based, cross-sectional study was conducted on 385 adults selected using systematic random sampling in Kemissie town from March 1 to May 1, 2019. A home-to-home visit interview was done using a structured interview guide. The data were coded individually and entered into a computer using Epi-info version 3.5.1 and then exported to SPSS version 23.0 for analysis. Univariate analyses were used to describe the categorical variables.
Of the 345 respondents who took antibiotics, three quarters (74.78%) received antibiotics with a prescription. Of the tkers and healthcare professionals. The community of Kemissie town had a positive attitude towards finishing antibiotic regimens. This study also identified crucial gaps in the practices of the community about the use of antibiotics.
Advanced medical detection technology requires high sensitivity and accuracy to increase the disease detection rate. We showed that carboxyl-functionalized graphene oxide (carboxyl-GO) biosensing materials are capable of accurate detection.
We developed a carboxylated GO-based surface plasmon resonance (SPR) aptasensor suitable for screening Down's syndrome in clinical serum. This biosensing material could rapidly and accurately detect hCG protein with a low concentration to identify fetal Down's syndrome. The developed carboxyl-GO-based SPR aptasensor showed excellent sensitivity and limit of detection without the use of antibodies and without any specific preference.
hCG protein detection limits of 1 pM in buffer samples and 1.9 pM in clinical serum samples were achieved. The results showed that the carboxyl-GO-based chip could detect hCG well below the normal physiological level of serum protein (5.0 mIU/mL). There are often cases with postoperative complications after laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC), resulting in severe consequences. This study aimed to identify potential risk factors of postoperative complications in cases of LC for acute cholecystitis.
A total of 423 patients with cholecystitis underwent LC. We divided the patients into two groups group without postoperative complications (Group A) and group with postoperative complications (Group B). Pre-operative findings, surgical findings, and the methods for evaluating the risk of peri-operative complications were compared between the two groups with a univariate analysis. Independent risk factors of postoperative complications were then evaluated in a multivariate analysis with the factors shown to be statistically significant in the univariate analysis.
A Physiological and Operative severity Score for enUmeration of Mortality and morbidity (POSSUM) of ≥ 48.3 and moderate or severe cholecystitis were independent risk factors of postoperative complications in LC.
This article aimed to evaluate the efficacy of arthroereisis using synthetic polyethylene implants to correct excessive valgus deformity in pediatric patients with flexible valgus flatfoot. Retrospective study of 20 pediatric patients with flexible valgus flatfoot, totaling 23 feet, between five and 14 years old, operated between January 2009 and July 2016. Clinical evaluations were performed by the Valenti podoscopic classification and the American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society criteria, based on radiographic images and podoscopic analysis. These patients underwent surgical treatment with the introduction of a synthetic implant in the sinus tarsi. Multiple linear regression analysis with Backward selection of variables, angles of pre and postoperative of radiographic images of the patients submitted to arthroereisis were performed. The arthroereisis with interposition of synthetic material was satisfactory, considering that 91% of the cases presented clinical and radiographic improvement, with correction of angles and improvement in deformity degrees. Two cases presented implant loosening. The variables of the Bordelon and Pitch angles significantly influenced (p < 0,05) the improvement of the correction of deformity degrees. After high tibial valgus osteotomy (HTO), rotational changes in the tibia may occur, which can affect the biomechanics of the patellofemoral joint and may lead to anterior knee pain.
To compare the rotational changes in the tibia between closing wedge HTO (CWHTO) and opening wedge HTO (OWHTO).

Among the patients who underwent HTO between May 2012 and August 2015, 53 (28 CWHTO and 25 OWHTO) who had computed tomography scans before and at 1 year after the HTO were included. The following parameters were compared between CWHTO and OWHTO (1) tibial torsion angle, (2) knee rotation angle, and (3) tibial tuberosity-trochlear groove (TT-TG) distance. During the last follow-up, patients were asked to rate their anterior knee pain when climbing the stairs, using the visual analog scale.
The tibial torsion angle significantly decreased (internal rotation of the distal fragment) after CWHTO (mean ± SD, -2.1°± 4.1°;
= .019) and OWHTO (-1.8°± 3.3°;
= .029). The knee rota and increased TT-TG distance occurred after OWHTO. Because such rotational changes could affect anterior knee pain, further studies are warranted to investigate the definite relationship between tibial rotational changes and anterior knee pain after HTO.We investigate the climatic influence on COVID-19 transmission risks in 228 cities globally across three climatic zones. The results, based on the application of a Boosted Regression Tree algorithm method, show that average temperature and average relative humidity explain significant variations in COVID-19 transmission across temperate and subtropical regions, whereas in the tropical region, the average diurnal temperature range and temperature seasonality significantly predict the infection outbreak. The number of positive cases showed a decrease sharply above an average temperature of 10°C in the cities of France, Turkey, the US, the UK, and Germany. Among the tropical countries, COVID-19 in Indian cities is most affected by mean diurnal temperature, and those in Brazil by temperature seasonality. The findings have implications on public health interventions, and contribute to the ongoing scientific and policy discourse on the complex interplay of climatic factors determining the risks of COVID-19 transmission.
Delayed gastric emptying (DGE) is a common functional disorder after esophagectomy in patients with esophageal carcinoma. Management of DGE varies widely and it is unclear how comorbidities influence the postoperative course. This study sought to determine factors that influence postoperative DGE.
This retrospective study evaluates patients who underwent esophagectomy with gastric pull-up between 2007 and 2019. The cohort was stratified in various ways to determine if postoperative care and outcomes differed, including patient demographics, comorbidities, intraoperative and postoperative procedures.
During the study period, 149 patients underwent esophagectomy and 37 had diabetes. Overall incidence of DGE, as defined in this study, was 76.5%. Surgery type was significantly different between DGE and normal emptying cohorts (
= 0.005). Comparing diabetic and nondiabetic patients, there was no significant difference noted in DGE (
= 0.25). Additionally, there was no difference in presence of DGE for pae course for patients with diabetes, but the link between chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and DGE warrants further investigation.
The incidence of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries among adolescent athletes is steadily increasing. Identification of the highest risk sports for ACL injuries by sex and competitive setting (ie, practice vs match) is important for targeting injury prevention programs.
To identify the risk of ACL injuries in adolescent athletes by sport, sex, and setting across a variety of common US and international sports.

Essentially, 3 online databases (PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane Library) were searched for all studies of ACL injuries per athlete-exposure (AE) or hours of exposure in adolescent athletes. Injuries were then pooled and incidence rates (IRs) reported per 1000 AEs or hours of exposure, with the relative risk (RR) of injuries calculated for sex-comparable sports. IRs per competitive setting (match vs practice) were also calculated.
A total of 1235 ACL injuries over 17,824,251 AEs were identified (IR, 0.069 [95% CI, 0.065-0.074]), with 586 of these injuries in girls across 6,9cents playing soccer, basketball, lacrosse, and football appeared at particular risk of injuries, a finding that can be used to target an injury intervention.

Current immunotherapies yield remarkable clinical outcomes by boosting the power of host immunity in cancer cell elimination and viral clearance. However, after prolonged antigen exposure, CD8+ T cells differentiate into a special differentiation state known as T-cell exhaustion, which poses one of the major hurdles to antiviral and antitumor immunity during chronic viral infection and tumour development. Growing evidence indicates that exhausted T cells undergo metabolic insufficiency with altered signalling cascades and epigenetic landscapes, which dampen effector immunity and cause poor responsiveness to immune-checkpoint-blockade therapies. Thus far, orbital angular momentum holography has been achieved using phase-only metasurfaces, which, however, are marred by channel crosstalk. As a result, multiplex information from only four channels has been demonstrated. Here, we demonstrate an orbital angular momentum holography technology that is capable of multiplexing up to 200 independent orbital angular momentum channels. This has been achieved by designing a complex-amplitude metasurface in momentum space capable of complete and independent amplitude and phase manipulation. Information was then extracted by Fourier transform using different orbital angular momentum modes of light, allowing lensless reconstruction and holographic videos to be displayed. Current immunotherapies yield remarkable clinical outcomes by boosting the power of host immunity in cancer cell elimination and viral clearance. However, after prolonged antigen exposure, CD8+ T cells differentiate into a special differentiation state known as T-cell exhaustion, which poses one of the major hurdles to antiviral and antitumor immunity during chronic viral infection and tumour development. Growing evidence indicates that exhausted T cells undergo metabolic insufficiency with altered signalling cascades and epigenetic landscapes, which dampen effector immunity and cause poor responsiveness to immune-checkpoint-blockade therapies. As a result, multiplex information from only four channels has been demonstrated. Here, we demonstrate an orbital angular momentum holography technology that is capable of multiplexing up to 200 independent orbital angular momentum channels. This has been achieved by designing a complex-amplitude metasurface in momentum space capable of complete and independent amplitude and phase manipulation. Based on the results, N inputs increased N mineralization and nitrification rates by 77 and 43%, respectively. Environmental exposures can contribute both benefits and risks to human health. Maternal exposure to green space has been associated with improvements in birthweight, among other birth outcomes. Newer measures of green space have been developed, which allows for an exploration of the effect of different ground covers (green, dry and bare earth), as well as measures of biodiversity. This study explores the association of these novel green space measures with birthweight in a large birth cohort in Queensland, Australia.
Birthweight was acquired from the routine health records. Records were allocated green space values for fractional cover, biodiversity and foliage projective cover. Directed acyclic graphs were developed to guide variable selection. Mixed-effects linear regression and generalised linear mixed-effects models were developed, with random intercepts for maternal residential locality and year of birth. Results are presented as standardised beta coefficients or odds ratios, with 95% confidence intt, and these effects are not limited to urban areas.As a well-known estrogenic endocrine disruptor, bisphenol A (BPA) is of utmost concern since it is reported with harmful effects on animal reproduction. However, the adverse effects on progeny after parental BPA exposure are largely unknown in fishes. To investigate the epigenetic effects of BPA on progeny gonadal development, parental rare minnow (Gobiocypris rarus) were exposed to BPA (15 μg L-1) for two months, then were purged in clean water for one, two or three months, respectively. From the second month, parents were mated once a month and the offspring were reared to 5 months old. Results showed that parental BPA exposure inhibited the ovary development of the offspring by reducing the number of mature oocytes while the transcripts of steroidogenic genes (cyp11a1, cyp17a1, cyp19a1a and star) were significantly affected. And the negative effects of parental BPA exposure on the offspring were reversible. The DNA methylation and histone trimethylation levels (H3K9me3 and H3K27me3) together with the expression of dnmts (dnmt1, dnmt5 and dnmt7) and histone methyltransferase genes (setdb1, setdb2 and ezh2) were significantly altered in the ovaries of the 5-month old offsprings. Here, we examined the taxonomic and functional beta diversity of macroinvertebrates and their underlying drivers in a dammed tropical river and compared the patterns with those in an adjacent undammed river. We found that both taxonomic and functional beta diversities were higher in the dammed river than in the undammed river across wet and dry seasons. The replacement component contributed most to the overall beta diversity for both taxonomic and functional facets, and this component was higher in the dammed river than in the undammed river. In addition, the taxonomic richness difference component was significantly higher in the dammed river in the dry season, but the functional richness difference component showed no difference between the two rivers and between the two seasons. Environmental filtering was the primary driver of total beta diversity and its replacement component, whereas the richness difference component was mainly explained by spatial factors, but these drivers varied in the dammed river in different seasons.

A total of 75 long-term survivors (LTS), defined as alive at least 24 months from diagnosis, were retrospectively analyzed. Overall survival (OS) and recurrence-free-survival (RFS) were calculated and related to patient characteristics and treatment received.
Median age and Karnofsky performance status (KPS) were 56 years and 100%, respectively. After surgery (gross tumor resection-GTR in 62, 83% patients), all LTS received concomitant temozolomide (TMZ) with radiotherapy and 70 (93%) adjuvant TMZ. Of these, 10 (13%) discontinued TMZ prior the completion of 6 cycles, 37 (49%) received 6 cycles and 23 (31%)>6 cycles. Sixty-nine (92%) patients experienced a first tumor recurrence at a median time of 21 months. Of these, 32 (46%) were submitted to a second surgery, 34 (49%) to other no-surgical treatments and 3 (5%) only supportive care. At multivariate analysis, OS was significantly improved by second surgery after first recurrence (P=0.0032) and by cycles of adjuvant TMZ>6versus ≤6 (P=0.05). More than six cycles of TMZ significantly conditioned also first RFS (P=0.011) and second RFS (P=0.033).

Long-term, population-based series that consider tumor differentiation are, however, sparse. We assessed the incidence trend of lung and gastroenteropancreatic (GEP) NENs according to the latest International Agency for Research on Cancer/World Health Organization classification over a 41-year time period in two Swiss regions. All cases of lung and GEP NENs recorded in the Vaud and Neuchâtel Cancer Registries from 1976 to 2016 were included. NENs were stratified into well-differentiated neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) and poorly differentiated neuroendocrine carcinomas (NECs). Changes in annual age-standardized incidence rates were calculated for lung and GEP NETs and NECs by sex. Of 4,141 patients diagnosed with NENs, 65% were men. The incidence of lung NETs among men and women increased by 3.9%/year (95% CI -5.3, 14.1%) and 4.9%/year (0.1, 9.9%), respectively, between 1976 and 2016. The incidence of lung NECs decreased by 2.6%/year (-3.1,-1.8%) in men from 1985 to 2016 whereas it increased in women between 1976 and 1998 by 6%/year (4.2, 7.9%). For GEP NETs, a steady annual increase in incidence occurred between 1976 and 2016 with a magnitude of 1.7% (0.7, 2.7%) in men and 1.3% (0.5, 2.1%) in women. No significant trend in incidence of GEP NECs was found for both sexes. The incidence trends of lung NECs in men and women parallel changes in smoking prevalence in the population. Causes of the increase in incidence of GEP NETs are likely multifactorial. Our study supports the importance of evaluating the epidemiology of NENs by tumor differentiation.

All cases of lung and GEP NENs recorded in the Vaud and Neuchâtel Cancer Registries from 1976 to 2016 were included. NENs were stratified into well-differentiated neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) and poorly differentiated neuroendocrine carcinomas (NECs). Changes in annual age-standardized incidence rates were calculated for lung and GEP NETs and NECs by sex. Of 4,141 patients diagnosed with NENs, 65% were men. The incidence of lung NETs among men and women increased by 3.9%/year (95% CI -5.3, 14.1%) and 4.9%/year (0.1, 9.9%), respectively, between 1976 and 2016. The incidence of lung NECs decreased by 2.6%/year (-3.1,-1.8%) in men from 1985 to 2016 whereas it increased in women between 1976 and 1998 by 6%/year (4.2, 7.9%). For GEP NETs, a steady annual increase in incidence occurred between 1976 and 2016 with a magnitude of 1.7% (0.7, 2.7%) in men and 1.3% (0.5, 2.1%) in women. Long-term data on the influence of BMI on survival in patients with MI who have undergone percutaneous intervention (PCI) are lacking. We aimed to assess the effect of different categories of BMI on long-term mortality.
A single-center retrospective study of 6496 patients with MI who underwent PCI was performed. Patients were divided into six categories according to their BMI and these were compared. All-cause mortality was assessed over a median period of 6.0 years. An inverse J-shaped relationship was observed between BMI and long-term mortality. We found the majority of walnut consumers compared to non-consumers were females, whites, and more highly educated, and had lower waist circumference, diastolic BP, and heart rate, and higher diet quality score. Even though cardiac structure and function measures were generally within normal ranges among participants, walnut consumers had significantly better values for diastolic function parameters A wave, E/A ratio, septal and lateral e' than non-consumers. Further adjustment for body mass index and diabetes status did not materially change the significance between walnut consumer groups. Systolic function parameters did not differ by walnut group.

Body composition changes as people age, for example, fat mass increases, muscle mass decreases, and body fat distribution is changed. We aimed to investigate the association of body mass index (BMI) with cause-specific mortality in the elderly population.
The data of annual health examination for the older citizens (≥65 years old) from 2006 to 2011 in Taipei City Hospital were used. Information on baseline demographics, lifestyle behaviors, medical, and drug usage were collected by a self-administered questionnaire. Cause-specific mortality was ascertained from the National Registration of Death. Individuals were followed up until death or December 31, 2012, whichever was earlier. Univariable and multivariable Cox proportional hazard analyses were applied to investigate the association between BMI and all-cause mortality. Among 81,221 older people included in the analysis, 42,602 (52.45%) were men. The mean age was 73.85±6.32 years. Among the 81,221 participants, 3398 (4.18%) were underweight, 36,476 (44.91%) were normal weight, 25,708 (31.65%) were overweight, and 15,639 (19.25%) were obese. To determine the prevalence of incidental findings on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans of the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine in a paediatric population.
We evaluated 190 spinal MRI examinations of patients aged ≤ 18 years of age. The study included only patients for whom complete medical records were available and who underwent complete MRI examination of the cervical, thoracic or lumbar spine, including whole-spine sagittal T2-weighted sequences. Imaging findings not related to the symptom or indication for MRI were considered incidental findings.
Of the 190 MRI examinations evaluated, 110 were in women and 80 were in men. To analyze the computed tomography (CT) findings of lymphocytic interstitial pneumonia (LIP).
We retrospectively reviewed the clinical and CT findings of 36 patients with LIP, including 25 women and 11 men, with a mean age of 52.5 years (age range, 22-78 years).
The main associated diseases with LIP were Sjögren syndrome (42%), human immunodeficiency virus infection (17%), amyloidosis (17%), Sjögren syndrome associated with secondary amyloidosis (11%), idiopathic (8%), and systemic lupus erythematosus (5%). The predominant CT abnormalities were multiple cystic airspaces (n = 35), small nodules (n = 15), ground-glass opacities (n = 13), bronchiectasis and/or bronchiolectasis (n = 8), and thickening of the bronchovascular bundles (n = 8). Across two studies using predominantly White samples, three consistent patterns emerged in the data (1) stereotypic bias was stronger for Black targets, whereas evaluative bias was stronger for White targets; (2) overall response accuracy bias correlated modestly across the two tasks; and (3) multinomial processing tree estimates of controlled processing corresponded **** more strongly than estimates of automatic processing. These findings support models positing distinct learning and memory systems for different forms of race bias, and suggest that these differing forms contribute to estimates of automatic associations.

Across two studies using predominantly White samples, three consistent patterns emerged in the data (1) stereotypic bias was stronger for Black targets, whereas evaluative bias was stronger for White targets; (2) overall response accuracy bias correlated modestly across the two tasks; and (3) multinomial processing tree estimates of controlled processing corresponded much more strongly than estimates of automatic processing.
