Cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) imaging with velocity encoding along all three directions of flow, known as 4DFlow CMR, provides both anatomical and functional information. Few data are available on the usefulness of 4DFlow CMR in everyday practice. Here, our objective was to investigate the usefulness of 4DFlow CMR for assessing congenital heart disease (CHD) in everyday practice.
From 2017 to 2019, consecutive patients who underwent 4DFlow CMR were included prospectively at a single high-volume centre. The parameters recommended by an expert's consensus statement for each diagnosis (congenital valvulopathy, septal defect, complex CHD, tetralogy of Fallot, aortic abnormalities) were assessed by two blinded experienced readers. 4DFlow CMRs that provided all recommended parameters were considered successful. Inter-observer and intra-observer agreement were investigated.
We included 187 adults and 60 children covering broad ranges of weight (4.5-142 kg) and age (0.1-67 years). 4DFlow CMR was always the second-line imaging modality, after inconclusive echocardiography, and was successful in 231/247 (91%) patients, with no significant difference between children and adults (54/60, 90%; and 177/187, 95%; respectively; p = .13). Longer time using 4DFlow CMR at our centre was associated with success; in children, older age was also associated with exam success. There was an about 12-month learning curve in children. The success rate was lowest in neonates. Inter-observer and intra-observer agreement were substantial.
Our results suggest that 4DFlow CMR usually provides a comprehensive assessment of CHD in adults and children. A learning curve exists for children and the investigation remains challenging in neonates.

In blood, concentrations of myeloperoxidase (MPO; NAD/NHC = 271/209, SMD = 0.41 [0.20, 0.62]; I2 = 15.7 %) and neutrophil gelatinase associated lipocalin (NGAL; NAD/NHC = 273/185, SMD = 0.30 [0.11, 0.49]; I2 less then 0.005 %) were significantly higher in AD relative to HC. Peripheral blood concentrations of NGAL were also higher in MCI compared to HC (NMCI/NHC = 489/145, SMD = 0.39 [0.11, 0.67]; I2 = 38.6 %). This transcellular transfer of mitochondria are dynamically involved in the cellular and tissue response to CNS injury and play beneficial roles in recovery. This review highlights recent research addressing the cause and effect of intra- and intercellular mitochondrial transfer with a specific focus on the future of mitochondrial transplantation therapy. We believe that mitochondrial transfer plays a crucial role during bioenergetic crisis/deficit, but the quality, quantity and mode of mitochondrial transfer determines the protective capacity for the receiving cells. Mitochondrial transplantation is a new treatment paradigm and will overcome the major bottleneck of traditional approach of correcting mitochondria-related disorders.
There is an extensive incidence of extended-spectrum beta-lactamases (ESBLs), principally in the hospital environment across the world. The present study was designed to discover the frequency of ESBL-production among the clinical isolates of Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumonia, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The study also focused on determining their liability to the selected antimicrobials.
Two hundred ten (210) clinical specimens were tested for the occurrence of ESBL using the double-disc synergy test. The molecular, physicochemical, absorption, distribution, metabolism, excretion, and toxicity were checked through an online server.
Among the screened clinical isolates, E. coli (n=44), K. pneumonia (n=34) and P. aeruginosa (n=14) were ESBL markers. The ESBL producing isolates exhibited co-resistance to diverse categories of antibiotics. It was observed that all the ESBL-producing isolates were sensitive towards imipenem and faropenem with minimal proportion of resistance.
The imipenem and faropenem can be recommended as the drugs of selection due to a lesser amount of resistance as compared to other antibiotics in this study.

Objectives The aim of this study was to analyze the risk of malignancy in salivary gland tumors on the basis of the Milan System for Reporting Salivary Gland Cytopathology. Methods A retrospective review was performed of the charts of patients with salivary gland tumors in whom the final diagnosis was confirmed by surgical excision. Preoperative fine needle aspiration results were categorized according to the Milan System for Reporting Salivary Gland Cytopathology non-diagnostic (category I), nonneoplastic (category II), atypia of undetermined significance (category III), neoplasm (category IV), suspicious for malignancy (category V), and malignant (category VI). Fine needle aspiration and final diagnosis were compared, and the risk of malignancy and operative/oncological outcomes were analyzed. Results A total of 288 patients were enrolled in this study. Postoperative histopathologic salivary gland malignancies were found in 30 (10.4%) patients. Risk of malignancy was 7.1%, 0%, 48.0%, 4.8%, 88.7%, and 100% in categories I, II, III, IV, V, and VI, respectively. The most common malignant tumor in category III was salivary duct carcinoma (37.5%), followed by acinic cell carcinoma (25.0%), mucoepidermoid carcinoma (25.0%), and squamous cell carcinoma (12.5%). The 5-year survival rate of patients with malignant tumors showed no statistical difference between category III and category V/VI (P = .140). Risk of malignancy was 88.9% and 100% in category V and VI, respectively. Conclusions A half of atypia of undetermined significance (category III) cases were malignant. Once diagnosed, the prognosis of malignant tumor in category III was similar with that in category V/VI.Objective The purpose of this prospective, randomized, single-blinded, placebo-controlled study was to investigate the effects of radiofrequency ablation (RFA), diode laser, and microdebrider-assisted inferior turbinoplasty (MAIT) techniques on patients' quality of life (QOL) and to compare the techniques with a placebo procedure. Methods A total of 98 consecutive patients with enlarged inferior turbinates due to persistent year-round rhinitis were randomized into placebo, RFA, diode laser, and MAIT groups at a ratio of 1222. All the procedures were carried out under local anesthesia with the patients' eyes covered. Assessments were conducted prior to surgery and 3 months subsequent to the surgery. Quality of life was assessed with the Glasgow Health Status Inventory (GHSI). Results The GHSI total score increased statistically significantly in all the groups, including placebo. There were no significant differences in the GHSI total score change between RFA, diode laser, and MAIT groups. The MAIT procedure improved the GHSI total score significantly more than the placebo procedure (P = .04). Conclusion All inferior turbinate surgery techniques lead to a significant improvement in the patients' QOL, and no significant differences were found between the techniques. The placebo treatment also improved the QOL significantly. We hereby describe our experience with emergency laryngectomy with or without pharyngectomy. Methods Retrospective analysis of prospectively maintained data base was carried out. Patients who had undergone emergency laryngectomy in our department, from 2014 to 2018, were analyzed, and their clinicodemographic and histopathological features were noted. The indications for surgery and postoperative complications were charted down. Survival data of patients were also noted. Results Seven patients have undergone emergency laryngectomy, 5 for acute airway obstruction and 2 for acute bleeding. Five patients were chemoradiotherapy failures, whereas 2 patients were operated upfront. Two out of 7 patients had pyriform fossa carcinoma, whereas rest of the patients had carcinoma of glottis. Reconstruction with pectoralis myocutaneous/pectoralis muscle only flap was carried out in 4 patients. Minor salivary leak was noted in 4 patients at varying time intervals from second week onward. Two patients had post radiotherapy chondroradionecrosis, without any residual/recurrent tumor. We hypothesized that dose-adjusted etoposide, doxorubicin, cyclophosphamide, vincristine, prednisone, and rituximab (DA-EPOCH-R) may obviate the need for highly dose-intensive chemotherapy in adults with Burkitt lymphoma. Methods We conducted a multicenter risk-adapted study of DA-EPOCH-R in untreated adult Burkitt lymphoma. Low-risk patients received three cycles without CNS prophylaxis, and high-risk patients received six cycles with intrathecal CNS prophylaxis or extended intrathecal treatment if leptomeninges were involved. The primary endpoint was event-free survival (EFS), and secondary endpoints were toxicity and predictors of EFS and overall survival (OS). Results Between 2010 and 2017, 113 patients were enrolled across 22 centers, and 98 (87%) were high risk. The median age was 49 (range, 18-86) years, and 62% were ≥ 40 years. Bone marrow and/or CSF was involved in 29 (26%) of patients, and 28 (25%) were HIV positive. At a median follow-up of 58.7 months, EFS and OS were 84.5% and 87.0%, respectively, and EFS was 100% and 82.1% in low- and high-risk patients. Therapy was equally effective across age groups, HIV status, and International Prognostic Index risk groups. Involvement of the CSF identified the group at greatest risk for early toxicity-related death or treatment failure. Five treatment-related deaths (4%) occurred during therapy. Febrile neutropenia occurred in 16% of cycles, and tumor lysis syndrome was rare. Conclusion Risk-adapted DA-EPOCH-R therapy is effective in adult Burkitt lymphoma regardless of age or HIV status and was well tolerated. Improved therapeutic strategies for adults with CSF involvement are needed (funded by the National Cancer Institute; ClinicalTrials.gov identifier NCT01092182).

This active device has distinct advantages in that it can garner a variety of image information while focusing on objects in accordance with natural eye movements, compared with a glasses-mounted camera and implanted micro-photodiodes in typical artificial vision systems. Coated with an epoxy and sealed by an elastomer for biocompatibility as well as durability, the active intraocular prosthesis was fabricated in a spherical form miniaturized enough to be inserted into the eye. Its operation was evaluated by wireless image acquisition displaying a processed gray-scale image. The mean concentrations of metals in all stations exceeded background levels. Mean concentration of arsenic (162.9 mg/kg) in the sediment is about 31 times more than the ISQG standard (5.9 mg/kg) and considerably higher than the similar studies in Iran and other regions of the world. The mean concentration of As in algae samples is higher than the most polluted areas of the wo modified degree of contamination show very high degree of pollution in the studied area. RI in all the stations showed very high ecological risk. The bioaccumulation factor for all metals in both algae is less than one. A conventional intraocular prosthesis is a passive device that helps blind patients underwent eye enucleation to maintain the shape of an eyeball. In contrast, an active intraocular prosthesis, which works as an implantable wireless camera, can capture real-time images and transmit them to a cortical visual prosthesis to restore partial vision of the patients. This active device has distinct advantages in that it can garner a variety of image information while focusing on objects in accordance with natural eye movements, compared with a glasses-mounted camera and implanted micro-photodiodes in typical artificial vision systems. Coated with an epoxy and sealed by an elastomer for biocompatibility as well as durability, the active intraocular prosthesis was fabricated in a spherical form miniaturized enough to be inserted into the eye. Its operation was evaluated by wireless image acquisition displaying a processed gray-scale image. Conclusions Role models have a profound effect on the attitudes and behaviors of medical students. It is important for clinical teachers to make an intentional effort to articulate what aspects they are modeling. This study can help faculty members be an effective role model. Also, finding of this review could form the foundation of a faculty development program in order to foster role modeling in clinical settings. Because of the myelin dysfunction, MS is clinically identified with neurological disabilities. Furthermore, it can be entered into the progressive phase because of irreversible neurodegeneration and axons damage. Unfortunately, there is no effective therapeutic method for this disease and current medications have been focused on amelioration of symptoms and chronic inflammation. Although current immunotherapies ameliorate the reactivity of autoimmune anti-myelin and MS relapse rate, there is no approved method for improvement of the disease progression and repairing of the damaged myelin. Therefore, finding an appropriate clinical treatment for improvement of neurological damages in MS patients is essential. Mesenchymal stem cells (****) are multipotent cells with high proliferative and self-renewal capacities, as well as immunomodulatory and neuroregenerative effects. Bone marrow and adipose tissues derived **** have been considered for the treatment of different diseases because not only they can be easily isolated from these tissues, but also a patient can be served as a donor for himself without the risk of rejection. Angiogenesis is a necessary component of wound healing in instances of diabetic foot ulcers (DFU). PRP composition varies depending on methods and donor health status. Our group has developed an improved PRP protocol for diabetes treatment. The aims of this study were to examine the levels of the pro-angiogenic factor VEGF in these patient populations with and without diabetes. Methods PRP was prepared using 24 mL of whole blood from 13 diabetic and 10 non-diabetic patients registered at Klinik Hayandra. Whole blood in sodium citrate tubes were centrifuged at 1,000 rpm for 5 minutes followed by plasma separation. Plasma samples were centrifuged at 3,000 rpm for 5 minutes. Upper platelet-poor plasma layers were discarded, leaving 5 mL of concentrated platelet containing plasma (PRP). Concentrated plasma samples were mixed, aliquoted, stored at -86 °C, and pooled for platelet count, VEGF, and total protein analyses. Platelet counting was also performed using fresh whole blood and PRP to measure changes following PRP preparation. Results Diabetic donors had higher whole blood platelet counts than non-diabetic donors, but this difference was not statistically significant. This study was performed to analyze the possible prognostic factors for myeloma patients post stem cell transplantation. Methods Patients' information was collected by history review and follow-up through the phone call. Kaplan-Meier was used to exhibit overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS). Univariate and multivariate analyses were performed using Cox proportional hazards model. A P less then 0.05 is considered statistically significant. Results Thirty patients with multiple myeloma were included in this study, 7 of them died because of myeloma relapse and myeloma-associated complications. The average survival time was 29.8 months and the median follow-up was 25.1 months. The 1-year OS and PFS were 93.3% and 90.0%, respectively. Both the 3-year OS and PFS were 76.7%. In a variety of factors, improved renal function showed a good effect on the outcome of transplantation. Conclusions To prevent cancer relapse after autologous transplantation, it is of great significance to achieve a complete remission prior to the transplantation. 2019 Stem Cell Investigation. Methods This is an open label, non-randomized clinical study using natural history of the disease as the comparator. BMSC were separated from aspirated autologous bone marrow with minimal manipulation using an FDA cleared Class II medical device. Patients were treated with combinations of retrobulbar, subtenons, intravitreal or subretinal placement of BMSC followed by intravenous injection of BMSC depending on the arm of the study chosen. There were no surgical complications. Results Of the patients treated, 83.3% (5 of 6 patients) experienced visual improvements and in all of these cases both eyes improved. Ten eyes or 83.

Several control experiments excluded a free radical procedure and also demonstrated the secondary amine as a possible intermediate, which was vital to the catalytic reaction. Meanwhile, the deuteration experiment got rid of the C-H activation dehydroisomerization of the benzothiazole mechanism.We report a combined experimental and theoretical study of bulk water photoionization. Angular distributions of photoelectrons produced by ionizing the valence bands of neat water using X-ray radiation (250-750 eV) show a limited (∼20%) decrease in the β anisotropy parameter compared to the gas phase, indicating that the electronic structure of the individual water molecules can be probed. We show that, in the high-energy regime, photoionization of bulk can be described using an incoherent superposition of individual molecules, in contrast to a low-energy regime where photoionization probes delocalized entangled states of molecular aggregates. The two regimes-low versus high energy-are limiting cases where the de Broglie wavelength of the photoelectron is larger or smaller than the intermolecular distance between water molecules, respectively. The comparison of measured and computed anisotropies reveals that the reduction in β at high kinetic energies is mostly due to scattering rather than rehybridization due to solvation.Arginine, although popularly known as aggregation suppressor additive, has been found to quench proteins' structure and function by destabilizing their conformations. Driven by such controversial evidence, in this work we performed a series of atomistic molecular dynamics simulations of insulin monomer, a biologically active hormone protein, in arginine solution of varying concentrations (0.5, 1, and 2 M) at ambient and elevated temperature (400 K) to explore the arginine concentration driven structure-based stability of the protein. Our study reveals that the flexibility of the protein's structure is dependent on the arginine concentration, and among all the used solutions, 2 M arginine, a "neutral crowder" that mimics the cellular environment, can preserve the native folded form of the protein at ambient temperature in an excellent manner. Further, while the protein unfolds at 400 K in pure water, this solution worked satisfactorily to preserve the protein's folded conformation more firmly than the other so to maintain its structural rigidity. Importantly, apart from the protein-solvent hydrogen-bonding interactions, the anion-pi interactions, established between the carboxyl group of arginine and the aromatic amino acid residues of insulin, were recognized to facilitate the protein to maintain its native folded form at the experimental temperatures.Cannabinoid receptor 1 (CB1R) controls various physiological and pathological conditions, including memory, motivation, and inflammation, and is thus an interesting target for positron emission tomography (PET). In this study, the light absorption properties and chromophore composition of three ****fractions of different polarities were characterized for urban aerosol collected in Xi'an and Beijing in winter 2013-2014. These three ****fractions show large differences in light absorption and chromophore composition, but the chromophores responsible for light absorption are similar in Xi'an and Beijing. Water-insoluble BrC (WI-BrC) fraction dominates the total ****absorption at 365 nm in both Xi'an (51 ± 5%) and Beijing (62 ± 13%), followed by a humic-like fraction (HULIS-BrC) and high-polarity water-soluble BrC. The major chromophores identified in HULIS-****are nitrophenols and carbonyl oxygenated polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (OPAHs) with 2-3 aromatic rings (in total 18 species), accounting for 10% and 14% of the light absorption of HULIS-****at 365 nm in Xi'an and Beijing, respectively. Driven by such controversial evidence, in this work we performed a series of atomistic molecular dynamics simulations of insulin monomer, a biologically active hormone protein, in arginine solution of varying concentrations (0.5, 1, and 2 M) at ambient and elevated temperature (400 K) to explore the arginine concentration driven structure-based stability of the protein. Our study reveals that the flexibility of the protein's structure is dependent on the arginine concentration, and among all the used solutions, 2 M arginine, a "neutral crowder" that mimics the cellular environment, can preserve the native folded form of the protein at ambient temperature in an excellent manner. Further, while the protein unfolds at 400 K in pure water, this solution worked satisfactorily to preserve the protein's folded conformation more firmly than the other so to maintain its structural rigidity. In this study, the light absorption properties and chromophore composition of three BrC fractions of different polarities were characterized for urban aerosol collected in Xi'an and Beijing in winter 2013-2014. These three BrC fractions show large differences in light absorption and chromophore composition, but the chromophores responsible for light absorption are similar in Xi'an and Beijing. Water-insoluble BrC (WI-BrC) fraction dominates the total BrC absorption at 365 nm in both Xi'an (51 ± 5%) and Beijing (62 ± 13%), followed by a humic-like fraction (HULIS-BrC) and high-polarity water-soluble BrC. The major chromophores identified in HULIS-BrC are nitrophenols and carbonyl oxygenated polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (OPAHs) with 2-3 aromatic rings (in total 18 species), accounting for 10% and 14% of the light absorption of HULIS-BrC at 365 nm in Xi'an and Beijing, respectively. Posts were cemented, and PBS was tested at 0.5 mm/min. The NL was evaluated by scanning electron microscopy. DC was measured using micro-Raman spectroscopy. The data were analyzed by three-way analysis of variance and Tukey tests (α=0.05). RESULTS AMB-APS showed similar performance in all root thirds (p>0.05) and higher values of DC, especially in the apical third (p less then 0.0001). Therefore, this study explored the explanatory roles of coping and conformity drinking motives in the relationship between trait worry and hazardous drinking outcomes including alcohol consumption, alcohol problems, maximum number of drinks, and the number of prior alcohol quit attempts among treatment-seeking smokers. Participants included 377 treatment-seeking smokers who consumed at least one alcoholic drink in the last year (48% female; 86.2% Caucasian; Mage = 34.83 years, SD = 13.38). Results showed a significant indirect effect of trait worry through coping-related drinking motives in relation to alcohol consumption, alcohol problems, maximum number of drinks, and number of prior drinking quit attempts. These findings were evident after controlling for gender, cigarette dependence, and current psychopathology. These findings suggest that coping drinking motives are one mechanism that may explain the relation between trait worry and hazardous drinking outcomes among treatment-seeking smokers.Mild functional difficulties associated with cognitive aging may be reliably measured by coding "micro-errors" during everyday tasks, like meal preparation. Micro-errors made by 25 older adult and 48 younger adults were coded on four dimensions to evaluate the influence of 1) poor error monitoring; 2) goal decay; 3) competition for response selection when switching to a new subtask; and 4) interference from distractor objects. Micro-errors made by young adults under a dual task load also were analyzed to determine the influence of overall performance level. Older adults' micro-errors were observed when switching to a new subtask and to unrelated distractors. Slowed error monitoring and goal decay also influenced micro-errors in older adults, but not significantly more so than younger adults under the dual task. Interventions to reduce interference from distractors and to increase attention at critical choice points during tasks may optimize everyday functioning and preclude decline in older adults.Food insecurity, life events, and emotional eating can influence dietary patterns. However, their interaction among older adults requires further investigation. This mixed-method, interdisciplinary project included 7 focus groups and a cross-sectional survey (n = 55) to evaluate these factors among older adults (60-102 years of age) living in rural Ohio communities. Qualitative data highlighted critical life events, emotions and personal relationships, food insecurity, and learning how to do more with less, and resilience in dietary patterns. The majority of the participants were overweight or obese. Food insecurity, frequency of congregate meals, and age were associated with emotional eating. Attributes of diet quality correlated with emotional eating and food insecurity. Future work should address the unique needs of older adults by expanding food assistance programs, while including the older adult's perspectives with regard to life experiences, the value of social support, personal relationships, and honoring food preferences, particularly nutrient-dense foods.

Cumulating evidence in Caucasian women suggests a positive association between height and premenopausal breast cancer risk and a negative association with overall adiposity; however data from Latin America are scarce. We investigated the associations between excess adiposity, body shape evolution across life, and risk of premenopausal breast cancer among 406 cases (women aged 20-45) and 406 matched population-based controls from Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, and Mexico. Negative associations between adult adiposity and breast cancer risk were observed in adjusted models (body mass index (BMI) Odds ratio (OR) per 1 kg/m2 = 0.93; 95% confidence interval = 0.89-0.96; waist circumference (WC) OR per 10 cm = 0.81 (0.69-0.96); hip circumference (HC) OR per 10 cm = 0.80 (0.67-0.95)). Height and leg length were not associated with risk. In normal weight women (18.5 ≤ BMI 88 cm) had an increased risk compared to women with normal WC (OR = 3.60(1.47-8.79)). Residuals of WC over BMI showed positive associations when adjusted for BMI (OR per 10 cm = 1.38 (0.98-1.94)). Body shape at younger ages and body shape evolution were not associated with risk. No heterogeneity was observed by receptor status. In this population of Latin American premenopausal women, different fat distributions in adulthood were differentially associated with risk of breast cancer.DNA alkylation damage is repaired by base excision repair (BER) initiated by alkyladenine DNA glycosylase (AAG). Elucidating the physiological mechanism underlying the effect of HT during anthesis on spikelet-opening of PTGMS lines would have great significance in exploring the effective way to mitigate the adverse effect of HT. In this study, two PTGMS lines and one restorer line of rice were used and were subjected to normal temperature (NT) and HT treatments. The results showed that, compared with NT, HT significantly decreased the percentage of opened spikelets, fertilization percentage and seed-setting by significantly increasing the percentage of wrapped spikelets and reducing the spikelet-opening angle, length of spikelet-opening time. The HT significantly decreased the contents of soluble sugars, jasmonic acid (JA) and methyl jasmonate (MeJA) in the lodicules before and at glume-opening, which were significantly correlated with and accounts for the low percentage of opened spikelets under HT for rice, especially for the PTGMS lines.Isotretinoin (ISO) is a drug which is used for the treatment of severe and refractory acne vulgaris (AV), over the last few decades. The drug has various musculoskeletal side effects. The aim of this study was to investigate relationship between serum 25 hydroxy (OH) vitamin D levels and the ISO-induced musculoskeletal side effects in patients with AV. We included 87 patients receiving ISO and had musculoskeletal symptoms as adverse effect (AE) group. Another 90 patients receiving ISO for AV and had any musculoskeletal complaints were recruited as control (C) group. Locomotor system examination of the patients was performed by the same clinician. Serum 25 OH vitamin D levels of the all participants were measured. Patients in the AE group were divided into three subgroups by serum 25 OH vitamin D levels. Patients with serum 25 OH vitamin D level lower than 10 ng/ml was classified as Group I, the ones between 10-20 ng/ml as Group II and those higher than 20 ng/ml were classified as Group III. AE and C groups were similar in terms of age and sex (p > 0.05). There was no statistically significant difference in the mean serum vitamin D levels between two groups (p = 0.17). Also, there was no significant difference in number of arthralgia (p = 0.30), myalgia (p = 0.29), low **** pain (p = 0.10) and sacroiliitis (p = 0.17) between three subgroups in AE group. In addition, we found no statistically significant correlation between the serum vitamin D levels and age, cumulative dose of ISO, arthralgia, myalgia and sacroiliitis parameters in AE group (p > 0.05). Serum 25 OH vitamin D levels between the AE and C groups were similar. We also found that no significant difference in musculoskeletal adverse events between AE subgroups. Therefore, it can be concluded that vitamin D deficiency has no effect on the musculoskeletal adverse events in patients receiving ISO.

Another 90 patients receiving ISO for AV and had any musculoskeletal complaints were recruited as control (C) group. Locomotor system examination of the patients was performed by the same clinician. Serum 25 OH vitamin D levels of the all participants were measured. Patients in the AE group were divided into three subgroups by serum 25 OH vitamin D levels. Patients with serum 25 OH vitamin D level lower than 10 ng/ml was classified as Group I, the ones between 10-20 ng/ml as Group II and those higher than 20 ng/ml were classified as Group III. AE and C groups were similar in terms of age and sex (p > 0.05). There was no statistically significant difference in the mean serum vitamin D levels between two groups (p = 0.17). Also, there was no significant difference in number of arthralgia (p = 0.30), myalgia (p = 0.29), low back pain (p = 0.10) and sacroiliitis (p = 0.17) between three subgroups in AE group. In addition, we found no statistically significant correlation between the serum vitamin D levels and age, cumulative dose of ISO, arthralgia, myalgia and sacroiliitis parameters in AE group (p > 0.05). Currently, due to the special functions and potential application values, rare sugars become the hot topic in carbohydrate fields. L-Ribulose, an isomer of L-ribose, is an expensive rare ketopentose. As an important precursor for other rare sugars and L-nucleoside analogue synthesis, L-ribulose attracts more and more attention in recent days. Compared with complicated chemical synthesis, the bioconversion method becomes a good alternative approach to L-ribulose production. Generally, the bioconversion of L-ribulose was linked with ribitol, L-arabinose, L-ribose, L-xylulose, and L-arabitol. Herein, an overview of recent advances in the metabolic pathway, chemical synthesis, bioproduction of L-ribulose, and the potential application of L-ribulose is reviewed in detail in this paper. RESULTS In patients with TLE, 18F-FDG PET imaging showed that in addition to the presence of temporal lobe hypometabolism, there was hypometabolism in the ipsilateral hippocampus, parahippocampal gyrus, insula, amygdala, temporal operculum, and bilateral cerebellar hemisphere, while hypermetabolism was found in the contralateral temporal lobe, frontal lobe, parietal lobe, parietal lobule, angular gyrus, and precentral gyrus. We hypothesised that the association between FVH and outcomes varies with the severity of leukoaraiosis (LA), another marker of collaterals, and that their combined significance may vary with time. METHODS We included 459 consecutive patients with middle cerebral artery (MCA) stroke. Proximal and distal FVHs were distinguished based on location. LA was divided into two grades, according to Fazekas scores of 0-2 and 3-6. Symptom-to-MRI time was divided into two categories ≤ 14 days and ≥ 15 days. RESULTS We found no difference in FVH proportion according to LA grade. Multivariate analysis revealed that LA and FVH status were independently associated with unfavourable outcomes (modified Rankin scale ≥ 2) in patients with symptom-to-MRI times ≤ 14 days (P = 0.008), but not in those with symptom-to-MRI times ≥15 days (P = 0.61). Currently, due to the special functions and potential application values, rare sugars become the hot topic in carbohydrate fields. L-Ribulose, an isomer of L-ribose, is an expensive rare ketopentose. As an important precursor for other rare sugars and L-nucleoside analogue synthesis, L-ribulose attracts more and more attention in recent days. Compared with complicated chemical synthesis, the bioconversion method becomes a good alternative approach to L-ribulose production. Generally, the bioconversion of L-ribulose was linked with ribitol, L-arabinose, L-ribose, L-xylulose, and L-arabitol. Herein, an overview of recent advances in the metabolic pathway, chemical synthesis, bioproduction of L-ribulose, and the potential application of L-ribulose is reviewed in detail in this paper. However, improved transparency is needed to translate automated decision-making to clinical practice. To this aim, we propose a strategy to open the black box by presenting to the radiologist the annotated cases (ACs) proximal to the current case (CC), making decision rationale and uncertainty more explicit. The ACs, used for training, validation, and testing in supervised methods and for validation and testing in the unsupervised ones, could be provided as support of the ML/DL tool. If the CC is localised in a classification space and proximal ACs are selected by proper metrics, the latter ones could be shown in their original form of images, enriched with annotation to radiologists, thus allowing immediate interpretation of the CC classification. Moreover, the density of ACs in the CC neighbourhood, their image saliency maps, classification confidence, demographics, and clinical information would be available to radiologists. Thus, encrypted information could be transmitted to radiologists, who will know model output (what) and salient image regions (where) enriched by ACs, providing classification rationale (why). The relationship between GS inhibition and ROS accumulation was investigated in Amaranthus palmeri. Glufosinate's fast action is light-dependent with no visual symptoms or ROS formation in the dark. METHODS In this cross-sectional study, 23 patients (11 males and 12 females, mean age 25.6 ± 10.1 years) with TLE who underwent 18F-labeled fluoro-2-deoxyglucose positron emission tomography (18F-FDG PET) were enrolled. 18F-FDG PET images were then imported into MIMneuro software, which can automatically analyze the differences in regional brain glucose metabolism between patients and a normal database, and the results of different brain regions were presented by values of Z-score. RESULTS In patients with TLE, 18F-FDG PET imaging showed that in addition to the presence of temporal lobe hypometabolism, there was hypometabolism in the ipsilateral hippocampus, parahippocampal gyrus, insula, amygdala, temporal operculum, and bilateral cerebellar hemisphere, while hypermetabolism was found in the contralateral temporal lobe, frontal lobe, parietal lobe, parietal lobule, angular gyrus, and precentral gyrus. There was no significant difference in brain areas between the left and the right temporal lobe seizures (P > 0.05).
