Achieving the World Health Organisation (WHO) cervical cancer elimination target of fewer than four new cases per 100,000 woman-years requires scaling up HPV vaccination of girls, cervical screening, and pre-cancer and cancer treatment. We reviewed data from four high-income colonised countries (Australia, Canada, Aotearoa New Zealand (NZ), and the United States (US)) to identify how each is currently performing compared to the cervical cancer incidence elimination and triple-intervention targets, nationally and in Indigenous women. We also summarise barriers and enablers to meeting targets for Indigenous women. To achieve elimination, cervical cancer incidence must be reduced by 74% in Indigenous women in Australia, and 63% in Maori women in NZ; data were not published in sufficient detail to compare incidence in Indigenous women in Canada or the US to the WHO target. Many LMICs maximized the strengths of their long established community-based primary care and public health systems with expansion of surveillance systems which incorporated mobile technologies. LMICs can harness the momentum of the measures taken against COVID-19 to consolidate the efforts against cervical cancer. Self-sampling, molecular human papillomavirus (HPV) testing and digital health will shift health systems towards stronger public health and primary care networks and away from expensive hospital-based care investments. While COVID-19 will change health systems priorities in LMICs in ways that may de-prioritize cervical cancer screening, there are significant opportunities for integration into longer-term trends towards universal health coverage, self-care and digital health.Population-based cancer registries (PBCR) are vital to the assessment of the cancer burden and in monitoring and evaluating national progress in cervical cancer surveillance and control. Yet the level of their development in countries exhibiting the highest cervical cancer incidence rates is suboptimal, and requires considerable investment if they are to document the impact of WHO global initiative to eliminate cervical cancer as a public health problem. As a starting point we propose a comprehensive cancer surveillance framework, positioning PBCR in relation to other health information systems that are required across the cancer control continuum. The key concepts of PBCR are revisited and their role in providing a situation analysis of the scale and profile of the cancer-specific incidence and survival, and their evolution over time is illustrated with specific examples. Linking cervical cancer data to screening and immunization information systems enables the development of a comprehensive set of measures capable of assessing the short- and long-term achievements and impact of the initiative. Such data form the basis of national and global estimates of the cancer burden and permit comparisons across countries, facilitating decision-making or triggering cancer control action. The initiation and sustainable development of PBCR must be an early step in the scale-up of cervical cancer control activities as a means to ensure progress is successfully monitored and appraised.Data obtained from echocardiographic studies are used on a daily basis to guide clinical decision-making regarding patient management and the need for additional diagnostic investigations. Interrogation of blood flow in the pulmonary veins by spectral, most often pulsed-wave, Doppler is an important component of any comprehensive echocardiographic study. Whereas it is most often used to help assess left-sided filling pressure and quantify the severity of mitral regurgitation, the pulmonary vein Doppler profile provides added diagnostic insights into several disorders that affect heart function and allows assessment of their hemodynamic consequences on the heart. The aim of this review is to summarize current knowledge in the field of PV Doppler interrogation, highlight the physiological and pathological parameters that influence it, and delineate the manifestations of various cardiovascular disorders on the flow profile.

A Bayesian hierarchal model together with a bootstrap method for exposure estimation were applied to quantify uncertainty from various sources, including the within-study, between-study, and exposure uncertainties. Dose-response assessment results obtained from a number of alternative model structures and methods consistently demonstrate a threshold type dose-response curve with a threshold in the range between 40-60 μg/L of iAs concentration in drinking water. The BMD for iAs in drinking water associated with 0.1 % increase in relative risk of bladder cancer is 42.2 μg/L (BMDL 39.2 μg/L); for 0.05 % increase, the BMD is 41.6 μg/L (BMDL 38.6 μg/L). For lung cancer, the two counterpart BMD estimates are 57.0 μg/L (BMDL 43.6 μg/L) and 55.7 μg/L (BMDL 42.5 μg/L) for 0.1 % and 0.05 % increase, respectively. These analyses provide additional statistical support for a non-linear dose response for cancer risk from inorganic arsenic which may have important policy implications.
Streptococcus agalactiae (group B streptococcus GBS) is a leading cause of early- and late-onset diseases in neonates. Reliable results of GBS carriage investigation among pregnant women may decrease the incidence of neonatal infection and mortality.
To compare the results of conventional culture investigation with those of the US Food and Drug Administration-approved nucleic acid amplification test (BD Max GBS (Becton Dickinson)), and to establish our own protocols of standard polymerase chain reaction (PCR).
A total of 250 vaginal-rectal swabs from three different hospitals in Bydgoszcz, Poland, were used to evaluate GBS carriage. Standard laboratory technique (overnight culture in broth enrichment media) results were compared with those of BD Max GBS assay (Becton Dickinson) and two standard PCR protocols, established to detect the cfb and 16S rRNA S.agalactiae genes, from the overnight cultures of the samples in the liquid enrichment media.
The overall GBS carriage was estimated as 16.4-23.2%, depending on the applied detection method. Overall, 27 discrepancies were noted for the results obtained with the application of the methods compared.

Interpersonal communication skills and professionalism competencies are difficult to assess among nephrology trainees. We developed a formative "Breaking Bad News" simulation and implemented a study in which nephrology fellows were assessed with regard to their skills in providing counseling to simulated patients confronting the need for kidney replacement therapy (KRT) or kidney biopsy.

Differentiation between relapse and reinfection in cases with tuberculosis (TB) recurrence has important implications for public health, especially in patients with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) co-infection. We compared Mycobacterial Interspersed Repeat Unit (MIRU) typing and spoligotyping with whole genome sequencing (WGS) to differentiate between relapse and reinfection in patients (HIV-positive and HIV-negative) with TB recurrence. We also assessed the value of WGS to track acquired drug resistance in those with relapse after successful treatment.
Forty-one paired M. tuberculosis isolates collected from 20 HIV-positive and 21 HIV-negative patients were subjected to WGS in addition to spoligotyping and MIRU typing. Phylogenetic and Single Nucleotide Substitution (SNP) clustering analyses were performed to determine whether recurrences were due to relapse or re-infection.
Comparison of M. tuberculosis genomes indicated that 95% of TB recurrences in the HIV-negative cohort were due to relapse, while the majority of TB recurrences (75%) in the HIV-positive cohort was due to reinfection (P = 0.0001). New drug resistance mutations were acquired in 5/24 cases (20.8%) that experienced relapse.

This work highlights the importance of evaluating the inclusion of non-HA viral proteins in the development of broadly efficacious and long-lasting influenza vaccines.ImportanceInfluenza virus vaccines currently afford short-term protection from viruses that are closely related to the vaccine strains. There is currently **** effort to develop improved, next-generation influenza vaccines that elicit broader and longer-lasting protection. While the hemagglutinin protein is the major viral antigen, in this work, we developed an approach with which to evaluate the contributions of the non-hemagglutinin proteins to vaccine mediated protection. Our results indicate that other structural proteins together may help to mediate broad antiviral protection and should be considered in the development of more universal influenza vaccines.Previously, we showed that substitution of HIV-1 Env residue 375-Ser by bulky aromatic residues enhances binding to rhesus CD4 and enables primary HIV-1 Envs to support efficient replication as simian-human immunodeficiency virus (SHIV) chimeras in rhesus macaques (RMs). Here, we test this design strategy more broadly by constructing SHIVs containing ten primary Envs corresponding to HIV-1 subtypes A, B, C, AE and AG. All ten SHIVs bearing wildtype Env375 residues replicated efficiently in human CD4+ T cells, but only one replicated efficiently in primary rhesus cells. This was a subtype AE SHIV that naturally contained His at Env375. Replacement of wildtype Env375 residues by Trp, Tyr, Phe or His in the other nine SHIVs led to efficient replication in rhesus CD4+ T cells in vitro and in vivo Nine SHIVs containing optimized Env375 alleles were grown large-scale in primary rhesus CD4+ T cells to serve as challenge stocks in preclinical prevention trials. These virus stocks were genetically homogeneous, native-odies, Envs selected for SHIV construction are of paramount importance. Until recently, it has been impossible to strategically design SHIVs bearing clinically relevant Envs that replicate consistently in monkeys. Our results indicate that other structural proteins together may help to mediate broad antiviral protection and should be considered in the development of more universal influenza vaccines.Previously, we showed that substitution of HIV-1 Env residue 375-Ser by bulky aromatic residues enhances binding to rhesus CD4 and enables primary HIV-1 Envs to support efficient replication as simian-human immunodeficiency virus (SHIV) chimeras in rhesus macaques (RMs). Here, we test this design strategy more broadly by constructing SHIVs containing ten primary Envs corresponding to HIV-1 subtypes A, B, C, AE and AG. All ten SHIVs bearing wildtype Env375 residues replicated efficiently in human CD4+ T cells, but only one replicated efficiently in primary rhesus cells. This was a subtype AE SHIV that naturally contained His at Env375. Replacement of wildtype Env375 residues by Trp, Tyr, Phe or His in the other nine SHIVs led to efficient replication in rhesus CD4+ T cells in vitro and in vivo Nine SHIVs containing optimized Env375 alleles were grown large-scale in primary rhesus CD4+ T cells to serve as challenge stocks in preclinical prevention trials. The NYF-Bi composite material can be driven under visible light and has high photocatalytic activity. The bactericidal performance of NYF and NYF-Bi were evaluated using Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Shigella and Salmonella. The NYF-Bi composite material killed 99.99% of E. coli under visible light (λ ≥ 420 nm) within 180 min and maintained high germicidal efficacy after 4 cycles. Finally, we deduced the sterilization mechanism of the NYF-Bi composite material through carrier dynamics studies and catching agent experiments. The death of bacteria was mainly caused by UVC light and active species, including h+, OH, and O- 2. This research provides a new material for water disinfection.Gold mining is the largest source of mercury (Hg) pollution worldwide. The discharge of mercury in the environment bears direct human health risks and is likely to increase cascading effects throughout local food chains. In the Peruvian Amazon the mining process consists of slashing and burning trees, followed by extraction of gold-bearing sediment, amalgamation with Hg and gold recovery, leading each year to the degradation of 6,000-10,000 ha and the release of 180 metric tons of Hg per year to the enviroment. The purpose of this study was to determine soil Hg levels in soils of abandoned alluvial gold mine spoils and undisturbed forest in the Madre de Dios region, the epicenter of alluvial gold mining in Peru. We selected gold mine spoils of the two most important technologies locally applied for gold extraction, i.e., Minimally Mechanized Mining (MMM) and Highly Mechanized Mining (HMM), in the native communities of Laberinto and Kotzimba, respectively. We collected 127 and 35 soil samples (0-20cm depth) fration to decrease human and environmental risks.Membrane is a considerable precursor for emulsions separation and organic dyes degradation used in water purification and oil reclamation. However, the tedious preparation method, the surface smears easily, and low degradation efficiency, these characteristics usually significantly hinder its applicability toward wastewater governance. In many developed countries, the cement industry has sought to replace conventional fossil fuels with alternatives to minimize GHG emissions; however, Brazil has underexploited this possibility. Considering the potential of refuse-derived fuel (RDF) to reduce the non-recycled waste disposed in landfills, and its suitable performance as an alternative fuel for cleaner cement production, this paper presents a reverse logistics network analysis for RDF production planning with respect to local economic incentives, social euqity and justice, pollution prevention, and global environmental concerns regarding carbon emissions reduction. The reverse logistics network involves important stakeholders related in waste management in Espirito Santo, Brazil, especially harmonizing social sustainability concerns between waste pickers' cooperatives and waste retailers. By considering the waste generated in 78 municipalities in the Espírito Santo state, the possible levels of fuel replacement in cement industries reflects the economic sustainability of the timeframe of the solid waste management policy implementation. The results showed that the RDF to be produced varies from 42,446.5 tonnes in 2024 with a small fuel replacement by cement industries, to 567,092.1 tonnes in 2040 if all non-recyclable waste available can be used to produce RDF. The avoided annual disposal costs via this network analysis vary from $3,855,412.0 in the initial years to $47,822,876.8 in the year 2040 under optimistic conditions, representing around 25% of the total cost in the network. The cost and GHG emitted reduced significantly in all simulated scenarios; however, the financial incentives are essential for achieving the network social sustainability.

Burning mouth syndrome (BMS) is a chronic pain condition that most commonly affects postmenopausal women older than 50 years of age. Xerostomia is a common complaint among BMS patients. However, previous studies showed inconsistent findings regarding saliva flow rate reduction. This study examined saliva flow rates, degree of mucosal hydration, xerostomia, and clinical characteristics in BMS patients compared with healthy controls. Unstimulated whole saliva (USWS) was collected through passive drooling; residual mucosal saliva (RMS) was collected using filter paper strips. Stimulated whole saliva (SWS) was collected while chewing on gum base. Oral exam and self-report data were collected. A total of 50 women (22 BMS cases and 28 healthy controls) aged 50 years or older were included in the analysis of this study. Mean age was 62 years for cases and 56 years for controls (P=0.05). Compared with controls, cases had significantly lower USWS flow rates (P less then 0.001) and had a higher prevalence of xerostomia (P=0.001), gastrointestinal disease (P less then 0.001), and vaginal dryness (P=0.01). These data show that oral and vaginal dryness are common among BMS patients. Further studies are needed to investigate potential pathophysiological mechanisms related to the quality of saliva and mucosal barrier status among these patients.
Catheter ablation has been shown to improve left ventricular (LV) ejection fraction (LVEF) in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) and heart failure (HF). Our aim was to assess the impact of AF ablation on the outcome of patients with HF and LV systolic dysfunction.
We performed a retrospective observational cohort study of all patients with HF and LVEF <50% and with no apparent cause for systolic dysfunction other than AF who underwent catheter ablation in a tertiary referral center between July 2016 and November 2018. The primary endpoint was a ≥5% improvement in LVEF. Secondary endpoints included improvement in New York Heart Association (NYHA) class and reduction in LV end-diastolic diameter (LVEDD) and left atrial diameter (LAD).
Of 153 patients who underwent AF ablation in this period, 22 (77% male, median age 61 [IQR 54-64] years) fulfilled the inclusion criteria. Median follow-up was 11.1 months (IQR 6.1-19.0). After ablation, median LVEF increased from 40% (IQR 33-41) to 58% (IQR 55-62) (p<0.01), mean NYHA class improved from 2.35±0.49 to 1.3±0.47 (p<0.001), and median LAD and LVEDD decreased from 48.0 (IQR 43.5-51.5) mm to 44 (IQR 40-49) mm (p<0.01) and from 61.0 (IQR 54.0-64.8) mm to 55.0 (52.2-58.0) mm (p<0.01), respectively.

We searched MEDLINE, Embase, CINAHL, Web of Science, the Cochrane Library, China Biomedical Literature Service System, VIP Database and CNIK from inception to February 2019. Two reviewers independently assessed articles' eligibility and risk of bias using the Quality Assessment of Diagnostic Accuracy Studies-II (QUADAS-2). We used a hierarchical summary receiver operating characteristics (HSROC) model to conduct the meta-analysis of diagnostic accuracy.
Twenty-four studies were included, involving 16 scales and 15,199 patients in intensive care settings. Results indicated that the top four risk assessment scales were the Cubbin & Jackson Index (SEN=0.84, SPE=0.84, AUC=0.90), the EVRUCI scale (SEN=0.84, SPE=0.68, AUC=0.82), the Braden scale (SEN=0.78, SPE=0.61, AUC=0.78), the Waterlow scale (SEN=0.63, SPE=0.46, AUC=0.56). The Norton scale and the other eleven scales were tested in less than two studies and need to be further researched.

Compared with controls, cases had significantly lower USWS flow rates (P less then 0.001) and had a higher prevalence of xerostomia (P=0.001), gastrointestinal disease (P less then 0.001), and vaginal dryness (P=0.01). Catheter ablation has been shown to improve left ventricular (LV) ejection fraction (LVEF) in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) and heart failure (HF). Our aim was to assess the impact of AF ablation on the outcome of patients with HF and LV systolic dysfunction. We performed a retrospective observational cohort study of all patients with HF and LVEF <50% and with no apparent cause for systolic dysfunction other than AF who underwent catheter ablation in a tertiary referral center between July 2016 and November 2018. The primary endpoint was a ≥5% improvement in LVEF. Secondary endpoints included improvement in New York Heart Association (NYHA) class and reduction in LV end-diastolic diameter (LVEDD) and left atrial diameter (LAD). Of 153 patients who underwent AF ablation in this period, 22 (77% male, median age 61 [IQR 54-64] years) fulfilled the inclusion criteria. Median follow-up was 11.1 months (IQR 6.1-19.0). After ablation, median LVEF increased from 40% (IQR 33-41) to 58% (IQR 55-62) (p<0.01), mean NYHA class improved from 2.35±0.49 to 1.3±0.47 (p<0.001), and median LAD and LVEDD decreased from 48.0 (IQR 43.5-51.5) mm to 44 (IQR 40-49) mm (p<0.01) and from 61.0 (IQR 54.0-64.8) mm to 55.0 (52.2-58.0) mm (p<0.01), respectively. The ds-Diabody against FGF-2 was purified by Ni2+ affinity chromatography and DEAE anion exchange chromatography. The recombinant ds-Diabody against FGF-2 could effectively inhibit proliferation, migration, and invasion of melanoma and glioma tumor cells stimulated by FGF-2. In vitro downregulation of RASSF8 promoted the growth, migration, and invasion of EOC cells. It was found that SIRI was closely related to TNM staging. The higher the TNM stage, the higher the proportion of patients with a high SIRI. However, SIRI was not related to any other clinicopathological parameters. Kaplan-Meier survival analysis showed that a high SIRI was associated with poor prognosis in gastric cancer patients in the original cohort and in the validation cohort. SIRI, NLR, PLR, and MLR could be used to judge the prognosis of patients with operable gastric cancer. However, multivariate analysis suggested that only SIRI was an independent prognostic factor for patients with operable gastric cancer.

The endocannabinoid (eCB) system has attracted interest as a target for treatment of neurodegenerative disorders, due to the potential anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective properties of cannabinoids, including its potential therapeutic use in HIV-1 neuropathogenesis. In this review, we summarize what is currently known about the structural and functional changes of the eCB system under conditions of HAND. This will be followed by summarizing the current clinical and preclinical findings on the effects of cannabis use and cannabinoids in the context of HIV-1 infection, with specifically focusing on viral load, cognition, inflammation, and neuroprotection. Lastly, we present some potential future directions to better understand the involvement of the eCB system and the role that cannabis use and cannabinoids play in neuroHIV.The coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) pandemic has created widespread stress. Since many people cope with stress by eating, the current study investigated whether eating behaviors shifted among U.S. adults after the emergence of the pandemic. Data from national, crowdsourced surveys conducted on March 31st, 2020 and February 13th, 2019 were compared. Average levels of eating to cope and food addiction symptoms did not appear to shift during the early stages of the pandemic; however, U.S. adults ate about 14% more added sugars. Moreover, greater stress in response to the pandemic was associated with greater eating to cope, added sugars intake, food addiction symptoms, drinking to cope, and drinking frequency. These associations differed by the presence of state-level stay-at-home orders, perceived vulnerability to disease, age, U.S. political party affiliation, and gender. Although eating behaviors did not appear to majorly shift during the early stages of the pandemic, stress from the pandemic may intensify some maladaptive coping tendencies among U.S. adults.
This study represents a first attempt to explore the typology of French female young adults based on personal definitions of healthy eating and to examine inter-group differences regarding their tendencies towards Orthorexia Nervosa (ON), eating disordered (ED) and obsessive-compulsive (OC) behaviors.
362 female adults (Mage=23.43, SD=3.82) completed a 40-item questionnaire assessing personal definitions of healthy eating, the Eating Habits Questionnaire, the Eating-Disorders Inventory-3 and the Obsessive-Compulsive Inventory-Revised.
Exploratory factor analysis yielded 6 factors for healthy eating definitions "Health benefits", "Politico-ecological", "Restriction", "Pleasure", "Socio-cultural" and "Dietary avoidance". Cluster analysis based on these factors identified 3 distinct groups "Self & Environment aware " (SEA), "Restrictive-Avoidant" (RA) and "Sociable-Pleasure seeking" (SP). The SEA cluster emphasized the "Health benefits", "Politico-ecological" and "Dietary avoidance" factors while definferent from those related to ED and OC behaviors. This study offers considerable support for the possibility of ON being a distinct condition from ED and OC behaviors.
Long-term care facilities (LTCF) are environments particularly favorable to coronavirus disease (SARS-CoV-2) pandemic outbreaks, due to the at-risk population they welcome and the close proximity of residents. Yet, the transmission dynamics of the disease in these establishments remain unclear.
Air and no-touch surfaces of 31 rooms from 7 LTCFs were sampled and SARS-CoV-2 was quantified by real-time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR).
Air samples were negative but viral genomes were recovered from 20 of 62 surface samples at concentrations ranging from 13 to 36,612 genomes/surface. Virus isolation (culture) from surface samples (n = 7) was negative.
The presence of viral RNA on no-touch surfaces is evidence of viral dissemination through air, but the lack of airborne viral particles in air samples suggests that they were not aerosolized in a significant manner during air sampling sessions. Although eating behaviors did not appear to majorly shift during the early stages of the pandemic, stress from the pandemic may intensify some maladaptive coping tendencies among U.S. adults. This study represents a first attempt to explore the typology of French female young adults based on personal definitions of healthy eating and to examine inter-group differences regarding their tendencies towards Orthorexia Nervosa (ON), eating disordered (ED) and obsessive-compulsive (OC) behaviors. 362 female adults (Mage=23.43, SD=3.82) completed a 40-item questionnaire assessing personal definitions of healthy eating, the Eating Habits Questionnaire, the Eating-Disorders Inventory-3 and the Obsessive-Compulsive Inventory-Revised. Exploratory factor analysis yielded 6 factors for healthy eating definitions "Health benefits", "Politico-ecological", "Restriction", "Pleasure", "Socio-cultural" and "Dietary avoidance". Cluster analysis based on these factors identified 3 distinct groups "Self & Environment aware " (SEA), "Restrictive-Avoidant" (RA) and "Sociable-Pleasure seeking" (SP). The SEA cluster emphasized the "Health benefits", "Politico-ecological" and "Dietary avoidance" factors while definferent from those related to ED and OC behaviors. This study offers considerable support for the possibility of ON being a distinct condition from ED and OC behaviors. Long-term care facilities (LTCF) are environments particularly favorable to coronavirus disease (SARS-CoV-2) pandemic outbreaks, due to the at-risk population they welcome and the close proximity of residents. Yet, the transmission dynamics of the disease in these establishments remain unclear. Air and no-touch surfaces of 31 rooms from 7 LTCFs were sampled and SARS-CoV-2 was quantified by real-time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR). Air samples were negative but viral genomes were recovered from 20 of 62 surface samples at concentrations ranging from 13 to 36,612 genomes/surface. Virus isolation (culture) from surface samples (n = 7) was negative. The presence of viral RNA on no-touch surfaces is evidence of viral dissemination through air, but the lack of airborne viral particles in air samples suggests that they were not aerosolized in a significant manner during air sampling sessions. The air samples were collected 8 to 30 days after the residents' symptom onset, which could indicate that viruses are aerosolized early in the infection process. Additional research is needed to evaluate viral viability conservation and the potential role of direct contact and aerosols in SARS-CoV-2 transmission in these institutions. After that, the composite stock price index has plunged 28% since the start of the year and the share prices of cigarette producers and banks in the midst of the corona pandemic reached their lowest value on March 24, 2020. We use the big data from Bank of Central Asia (BCA) and Bank of Mandiri from Indonesia obtained from Yahoo finance. In our experiments, we visualize the data using data science and predict and simulate the important prices called Open, High, Low and Closing (OHLC) with various parameters.

In this paper, we put forward AMVchain, a fully decentralized and efficient blockchain-based voting system. AMVchain has a three-layer access control architecture, and on each layer, smart contracts are responsible for validation and granting permissions. Linkable ring signature is adopted in the process of voting to protect ballot-privacy. AMVchain also makes a tradeoff between efficiency and concurrency by introducing proxy nodes. The experiments results show that our system meets the basic requirements under the high concurrent users circumstance.
Early in the epidemic of coronavirus disease 2019, the Chinese government recruited a proportion of healthcare workers to support the designated hospital (Huoshenshan Hospital) in Wuhan, China. The majority of front-line medical staff suffered from adverse effects, but their real health status during COVID-19 epidemic was still unknown. This article explores the factors associated with an increase in domestic violence incidents during COVID-19 by applying routine activity theory (RAT) framework. Data were drawn from the incidents of domestic violence reported in newspapers. Data was analyzed using content analysis and three major themes, i.e., three principle components of RAT-motivated offender, suitable target, and absence of capable guardian-were drawn. Findings reveal that sources of motivation in domestic violence perpetrators during the lockdown were alcohol and unemployment. The symbolic value that perpetrators associated with women, lower inertia, visibility, and accessibility to the perpetrators made women suitable targets of domestic violence. Lastly, shortage of police force and travel restrictions on formal and informal sources resulted in the absence of capable guardians. We conclude that changes in the routine activities of people during the COVID-19 lockdown provided more opportunities to the perpetrators of domestic violence.

Our study confirms the expression of TRPV1 ion channel on both mRNA and protein levels in the canine PBMC and indicates that the ion channel is functional.Patient material from rare diseases such as very early-onset inflammatory bowel disease (VEO-IBD) is often limited. The use of patient-derived induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) for disease modeling is a promising approach to investigate disease pathomechanisms and therapeutic strategies. We successfully developed VEO-IBD patient-derived iPSC lines harboring a mutation in the IL-10 receptor β-chain (IL-10RB) associated with defective IL-10 signaling. To characterize the disease phenotype, healthy control and VEO-IBD iPSCs were differentiated into macrophages. IL-10 stimulation induced characteristic signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3) and suppressor of cytokine signaling 3 (SOCS3) downstream signaling and anti-inflammatory regulation of lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-mediated cytokine secretion in healthy control iPSC-derived macrophages. In contrast, IL-10 stimulation of macrophages derived from patient iPSCs did not result in STAT3 phosphorylation and subsequent SOCS3 expression, recapitulating the phenotype of cells from patients with IL-10RB deficiency. In line with this, LPS-induced cytokine secretion (e.g., IL-6 and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α)) could not be downregulated by exogenous IL-10 stimulation in VEO-IBD iPSC-derived macrophages. All the produced NPs are characterized by a high purity, small particles dimensions (from 2 to 50 nm), and high specific surface area values up to 420 m2/g, with yields of production >90%. In particular, among the most common iron oxide NPs, we obtained cubic magnetite NPs at room temperature, characterized by particle dimensions of about 6 nm and a surface area of 170 m2/g. We also obtained hematite NPs at very low temperature conditions (that is 2 h at 200 °C), characterized by particles dimensions of about 5 nm with a surface area value of 200 m2/g. In this study, we used Bletilla striata polysaccharide (BSP) combined with hydroxyapatite, a carrier. We hypothesized that the resulting combination (BSP-HAP) is a good formula for the controlled release of BSP via intramuscular (IM) administration, so as to prevent the worsening of presarcopenia or even recover from the early stage of the illness. In this research, BSP-HAP was synthesized by a modified low temperature co-precipitation process that would be beneficial for BSP loading. By conducting DCFDA, WST-1 and the Live/Dead assay, BSP-HAP is shown to be a biocompatible material which may release BSP by cells through the endocytosis pathway. Animal studies revealed that the rats treated with BSP-HAP could effectively recover muscle endurance, grip strength or fat/lean mass ratio from lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced sarcopenia.
