To study the composition characteristics and sources of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in Shijiazhuang City, three national control points were selected to conduct VOCs sampling and analysis from March 2017 to January 2018. The correlation of VOCs through combination with meteorological and ground-level O3 data, and the sources of VOCs were analyzed by positive matrix factorization (PMF). To quantify the pollution period of O3 in summer, its temporal sequence characteristics were studied by wavelet analysis. During the sampling period, the average concentration of ambient total VOCs (TVOCs) was (137.23±64.62) μg·m-3. Haloalkanes were the most dominant VOC compounds, accounting for 31.77% of total VOCs mass, followed by aromatic (30.97%) and oxygenated VOCs (OVOCs, 23.76%). The seasonal variation in VOC concentration followed the trend in winter (187.7 μg·m-3) > autumn (146.8 μg·m-3) > spring (133.24 μg·m-3) > summer (107.1 μg·m-3); the concentration of VOCs shows a trend of increasing gradient from west to east. The O3 concentration correlated negatively with VOCs and NO2, and positively with temperature, sunshine duration, wind speed, and visibility. Changes in meteorological elements were concerned before the occurrence of ozone pollution in summer, especially in 4-5 days in June and 7-8 days during July to August after the occurrence of increasing temperature. Finally six potential sources of VOCs were quantified by the PMF model, including from gasoline emissions (24.78%), diesel vehicle emissions (24.69%), solvent usage (18.64%), the chemical industry (11.87%), regional background (10.84%), and the pharmaceutical industry (9.17%). Ozone formation potential (OFP) contribution of emission sources of gasoline and diesel vehicles (54.98%) was over half of the total contribution. Meanwhile, these findings illustrated that control of vehicle emissions and industrial sources would be an important way to reduce VOCs concentrations and improve air quality in Shijiazhuang.In the research, volatile organic compounds (VOCs) were observed online in urban areas of Chengdu to study VOC concentration level, change characteristics, ozone generation contribution (OFP), and source contribution from June to September 2019. The average value of toluene/benzene (T/B) was 1.95, which implied the ambient VOCs in Hangzhou were influenced by vehicle exhaust. Secondary formation (17.6%), combustion (11.8%), industrial processing (12.3%), solvent use (18.1%), biogenic source (4.5%), and vehicle exhaust (35.7%) were identified as six major sources of VOCs in Hangzhou through the positive matrix factorization (PMF) model.In this study, the aerosol number size distribution in the range of 10 nm-10 μm was collected from August 16 to October 04, 2019 at Ordos using a wide-range particle spectrometer (WPS). Combined with PM (PM2.5 and PM10), pollution gases, meteorological data, and the HYSPLIT model, the characteristics and impact factors of new particle formation (NPF) were discussed. The results indicated that there were 19 NPF events during the observation period, which have different effects on diurnal variation in aerosol number concentration in different modes. The NPF events caused a sharp increase in the number concentration of nucleation and Aitken mode aerosols, but had little effect on the number concentration of accumulation and coarse mode aerosols. The temperature, wind speed, and total solar radiation during NPF days were usually higher than those in non-NPF days, and the RH during NPF days was lower. On NPF days, the mass concentrations of PM2.5, PM10, CO, and NO2 were lower than those on non-NPF days, while the mass concentrations of O3 and SO2 were higher. NPF events were observed in 40.0% of northern air masses and 29.6% of southern air masses. There were significant differences in meteorological elements in different NPF event air mass types. The southern NPF event air mass type had the lowest wind speed and the highest RH, with averages of (2.4±1.5) m·s-1 and (48.8±10.8)%, respectively. The northern NPF event air mass type had the highest wind speed and total solar radiation, with averages of (4.2±1.9) m·s-1 and (664.5±255.6) W·m-2, respectively. The western air mass type of NPF event had the lowest RH, with an average of (29.8±12.7)%. The formation rates of new particles in the different air mass types of NPF events were similar, ranging from 1.5 to 1.8 cm-3·s-1. METHOD MRIs of children with CP born between 1999 and 2009 from 18 European countries were analyzed. MRICS identifies patterns of brain pathology according to timing during brain development which was analyzed with respect to CP subtypes and gestational age. RESULTS MRIs or written reports from 3,818 children were available. The main clinical characteristics were similar to the 5,415 without such data. Most frequent was predominant white matter injury (49%), followed by predominant gray matter injury (21%). Maldevelopments were found in 11% of cases. Miscellaneous findings were present in 8.5% and normal findings in 10.6%. MRI patterns of children with unilateral spastic, bilateral spastic, and dyskinetic CP were mainly lesional (77, 71, and 59%, respectively), whereas children with ataxic CP had more maldevelopments, miscellaneous, and normal findings (25, 21, and 32%, respectively).

As a novel approach, we represent a classifier as an assembly of simple mathematical rules using a nonlinear decision tree (NLDT). Each conditional (nonterminal) node of the tree represents a nonlinear mathematical rule (split-rule) involving features in order to partition the dataset in the given conditional node into two nonoverlapping subsets. This partitioning is intended to minimize the impurity of the resulting child nodes. By restricting the structure of the split-rule at each conditional node and depth of the decision tree, the interpretability of the classifier is ensured. The nonlinear split-rule at a given conditional node is obtained using an evolutionary bilevel optimization algorithm, in which while the upper level focuses on arriving at an interpretable structure of the split-rule, the lower level achieves the most appropriate weights (coefficients) of individual constituents of the rule to minimize the net impurity of two resulting child nodes. The performance of the proposed algorithm is demonstrated on a number of controlled test problems, existing benchmark problems, and industrial problems. Compared with other semisupervised approaches, the proposed approach can build a structure to reflect data-distributed information with unlabeled data and labeled data, so that the hidden information embedded in both labeled and unlabeled data can be sufficiently utilized and can potentially be applied to achieve good descriptions of each category. The proposed framework includes a group-specific feature selection process and a label-specific group selection process. The former process projects instances into different groups by extracting the instance-group correlation. The latter process selects labels for each instance based on its related groups by extracting the group-label correlation. In addition, we also exploit the intergroup correlation. These three kinds of group-based correlations are combined to perform effective multilabel classification. The experimental results on various datasets validate the effectiveness of our approach.

In this article, we introduce a computer aided engineering (CAE) methodology to design 3D printed food products with tunable mechanical properties. The focus was on the Young modulus as a proxy of texture. Finite element modelling was used to establish the relationship between the Young modulus of 3D printed cookies with a honeycomb structure and their structure parameters. Wall thickness, cell size, and overall porosity were found to influence the Young modulus of the cookies and were, therefore, identified as tunable design parameters. Next, in experimental tests, it was observed that geometry deformations arose during and after 3D printing, affecting cookie structure and texture. The 3D printed cookie porosity was found to be lower than the designed one, strongly influencing the Young modulus. After identifying the changes in porosity through X-ray micro-computed tomography, a good match was observed between computational and experimental Young's modulus values. These results showed that changes in the geometry have to be quantified and considered to obtain a reliable prediction of the Young modulus of the 3D printed cookies.Invasive pulmonary aspergillosis (IPA) is a life-threatening infection of immunocompromised patients with Aspergillus fumigatus, a ubiquitous environmental mould. While there are numerous functioning antifungal therapies, their high cost, substantial side effects and fear of overt resistance development preclude permanent prophylactic medication of risk-patients. Hence, a fast and definitive diagnosis of IPA is desirable, to quickly identify those patients that really require aggressive antimycotic treatment and to follow the course of the therapeutic intervention. However, despite decades of research into this issue, such a diagnostic procedure is still not available. Here, we discuss the array of currently available methods for IPA detection and their limits. We then show that molecular imaging using positron emission tomography (PET) combined with morphological computed tomography or magnetic imaging is highly promising to become a future non-invasive approach for IPA diagnosis and therapy monitoring, albeit still requiring thorough validation and relying on further acceptance and dissemination of the approach. The aim of this study was to find differences related to diet quality and knowledge on nutrition among Polish, German, and Slovakian students as well as to examine which factors differentiate the diet quality of students from these three countries. The study was conducted on a group of 394 university students from Poland, Germany, and Slovakia. The assessment of diet quality and knowledge on food and nutrition was done with the use of the Dietary Habits and Nutrition Beliefs Questionnaire. The diet of German students was characterized by a significantly higher consumption of legume-based foods, vegetables, and fruit compared to Polish students and Slovakian participants (p less then 0.001). The diet of the Poles was characterized by a high consumption of cured meat, smoked sausages, hot dogs, white bread and bakery products, butter, fried foods, and energy drinks. The most important factors significantly associated with diet quality involved the country, place of residence, Body Mass Index (BMI), physical activity, and time spent watching TV or using a computer. Polish students were characterized by the highest level of knowledge on food and nutrition (p less then 0.001). However, it was not reflected in their diet. The authorities of universities should aim to provide students with access to canteens on campuses which would offer the possibility of consumption of both affordable and healthy meals.A new type of tetraphenylborate salts derived from highly basic and nucleophilic amines, namely 1,5-diazabicyclo[4.3.0]non-5-ene (DBN), 1,8-diazabicyclo(5.4.0)undec-7-ene (DBU) and triazabicyclodecene (TBD), was applied to the preparation of networked poly(thiourethane)s (PTUs), which showed a vitrimer-like behavior, with higher stress-relaxation rates than PTUs prepared by using dibutyl thin dilaurate (DBTDL) as the catalyst. The use of these salts, which release the amines when heated, instead of the pure amines, allows the formulation to be easily manipulated to prepare any type of samples. The materials prepared from stoichiometric mixtures of hexamethylene diisocyanate (HDI), trithiol (S3) and with a 10% of molar excess of isocyanate or thiol were characterized by FTIR, thermomechanical analysis, thermogravimetry, stress-relaxation tests and tensile tests, thus obtaining a complete thermal and mechanical characterization of the materials. The recycled materials obtained by grinding the original PTUs and hot-pressing the small pieces in the optimized time and temperature conditions were fully characterized by mechanical, thermomechanical and FTIR studies.

Metastasis is a major cause of high recurrence and poor survival of patients with colorectal cancer (CRC), although the mechanisms associated with this process remain poorly understood. In this study, we report a novel mechanism by which SOX13 promotes CRC metastasis by transactivating SNAI2 and c-MET. SOX13 overexpression was significantly correlated with more aggressive clinicopathological features of CRC and indicated poor prognosis in two independent cohorts of CRC patients (cohort I, n = 363; cohort II, n = 390). Overexpression of SOX13-promoted CRC migration, invasion, and metastasis, whereas SOX13 downregulation caused the opposite effects. Further mechanistic investigation identified SNAI2 and MET as important target genes of SOX13 using serial deletion and site-directed mutagenesis luciferase reporter and chromatin immunoprecipitation (ChIP) assays, as well as functional complementation analyses. In addition, SOX13 was shown to be a direct target of HGF/STAT3 signaling, and the c-MET inhibitor crizotinib blocked the HGF/STAT3/SOX13/c-MET axis, significantly inhibiting SOX13-mediated CRC migration, invasion and metastasis. Moreover, in clinical CRC tissues, SOX13 expression was positively correlated with the expression of SNAI2, c-MET, and HGF. CRC patients with positive coexpression of SOX13/SNAI2, SOX13/c-MET, or HGF/SOX13 exhibited a worse prognosis. In summary, SOX13 is a promising prognostic biomarker in patients with CRC, and blocking the HGF/STAT3/SOX13/c-MET axis with crizotinib could be a new therapeutic strategy to prevent SOX13-mediated CRC metastasis.Lung cancer occurrence and associated mortality ranks top in all countries. It is urgent to uncover the mechanisms that drive lung cancer progression and identify novel molecular targets. Our group has previously identified FGF19 as a prognostic marker and potential driver gene of lung squamous cell carcinomas (LSQ) in Chinese smoking patients. However, the underlying mechanism of how FGF19 promotes the progression of LSQ remains unclear. In this study, we characterized and confirmed that FGF19 serves as an oncogenic driver in LSQ development and progression, and reported that the amplification and high expression of FGF19 in LSQ was significantly associated with poor overall and progression-free survival. A higher serum level of FGF19 was found in lung cancer patients, which could also serve as a novel diagnostic index to screen lung cancer. Overproduction of FGF19 in LSQ cells markedly promoted cell growth, progression and metastasis, while downregulating FGF19 effectively inhibited LSQ progression in vitro and in vivo. Moreover, downregulating the receptor FGFR4 was also effective to suppress the growth and migration of LSQ cells. Since FGF19 could be induced by smoking or endoplasmic reticulum stress, to tackle the more malignant FGF19-overproducing LSQ, we reported for the first time that inhibiting mTOR pathway by using AZD2014 was effective and feasible. This is due to a previously uncharacterized ability of HIF-1α to suppress the transcription of the PKA regulatory subunit 2B (PRKAR2B) by sequestering Sp1 from the PRKAR2B promoter. Metastasis is a major cause of high recurrence and poor survival of patients with colorectal cancer (CRC), although the mechanisms associated with this process remain poorly understood. In this study, we report a novel mechanism by which SOX13 promotes CRC metastasis by transactivating SNAI2 and c-MET. SOX13 overexpression was significantly correlated with more aggressive clinicopathological features of CRC and indicated poor prognosis in two independent cohorts of CRC patients (cohort I, n = 363; cohort II, n = 390). Overexpression of SOX13-promoted CRC migration, invasion, and metastasis, whereas SOX13 downregulation caused the opposite effects. Further mechanistic investigation identified SNAI2 and MET as important target genes of SOX13 using serial deletion and site-directed mutagenesis luciferase reporter and chromatin immunoprecipitation (ChIP) assays, as well as functional complementation analyses. In addition, SOX13 was shown to be a direct target of HGF/STAT3 signaling, and the c-MET inhibitor crizotinib blocked the HGF/STAT3/SOX13/c-MET axis, significantly inhibiting SOX13-mediated CRC migration, invasion and metastasis. Moreover, in clinical CRC tissues, SOX13 expression was positively correlated with the expression of SNAI2, c-MET, and HGF. CRC patients with positive coexpression of SOX13/SNAI2, SOX13/c-MET, or HGF/SOX13 exhibited a worse prognosis. However, the underlying mechanism of how FGF19 promotes the progression of LSQ remains unclear. In this study, we characterized and confirmed that FGF19 serves as an oncogenic driver in LSQ development and progression, and reported that the amplification and high expression of FGF19 in LSQ was significantly associated with poor overall and progression-free survival. A higher serum level of FGF19 was found in lung cancer patients, which could also serve as a novel diagnostic index to screen lung cancer. Overproduction of FGF19 in LSQ cells markedly promoted cell growth, progression and metastasis, while downregulating FGF19 effectively inhibited LSQ progression in vitro and in vivo. Moreover, downregulating the receptor FGFR4 was also effective to suppress the growth and migration of LSQ cells. Since FGF19 could be induced by smoking or endoplasmic reticulum stress, to tackle the more malignant FGF19-overproducing LSQ, we reported for the first time that inhibiting mTOR pathway by using AZD2014 was effective and feasible. To enable effective preventive care to improve outcomes in managing asthma, we recently created two machine learning models, one using University of Washington Medicine data and the other using Intermountain Healthcare data, to predict asthma hospital visits in the next 12 months in asthma patients. As is common in machine learning, neither model supplies explanations for its predictions. To tackle this interpretability issue of black-box models, we developed an automated method to produce rule-style explanations for any machine learning model's predictions made on imbalanced tabular data and to recommend customized interventions without lowering the prediction accuracy. Our method exhibited good performance in explaining our Intermountain Healthcare model's predictions. Yet, it stays unknown how well our method generalizes to academic healthcare systems, whose patient composition differs from that of Intermountain Healthcare. This study evaluates our automated explaining method's generalizability to the academic healthcare system University of Washington Medicine on predicting asthma hospital visits. We did a secondary analysis on 82,888 University of Washington Medicine data instances of asthmatic adults between 2011 and 2018, using our method to explain our University of Washington Medicine model's predictions and to recommend customized interventions. Our results showed that for predicting asthma hospital visits, our automated explaining method had satisfactory generalizability to University of Washington Medicine. In the past decade, the use of flexible endoscopes has enabled surgeons to resect even the temporal segment of the choroid plexus at the lateral ventricles, which has increased the success of treatment. In this technical note, we describe CPC with the use of a rigid endoscope, which we used to selectively disconnect the glomus of the choroid plexus, in addition to choroid plexus coagulation, as an alternative way to facilitate ETV. This new procedure optimized the visualization of the choroid plexus and the temporal horn and prevented additional difficulties in coagulation of this mobile region of the choroid plexus in selected patients. To achieve the best outcome, avoid bleeding, and optimize the standard technique, it was important to recognize both the classical anatomic structure of the choroid plexus and some variations, and previous expertise in ETV and CPC were necessary. There was a time-dependent increase in the percentage of cells accumulating γ-H2AX, but TUNEL staining did not indicate the formation of DSBs. The nuclear spread of γ-H2AX remained after Ara-C was withdrawn. These features of Ara-C-induced γ-H2AX formation were quite distinct from those observed in proliferating pheochromocytoma cells. Furthermore, Ara-C-induced γ-H2AX formation appeared to utilize cyclin-dependent kinase 7, but not ataxia telangiectasia mutated (ATM) or ATM and Rad3 related, which are well-known kinases in γ-H2AX formation. However, the molecular mechanisms of MC-LR-induced autophagy remain to be elucidated. It is known that IRE1 and CaMKKβ pathways are two important pathways involved in autophagy induced by ER stress. Hence, this study investigated the roles of both pathways in MC-LR-induced autophagy in mouse ovarian cells. The results showed that MC-LR significantly up-regulated the expression of autophagy marker proteins LC3Ⅱ and BECLIN1 and down-regulated the expression of P62 in vivo and in vitro. MC-LR-caused increase of autophagosomes could be observed in KK-1 cells by MDC staining. MC-LR induced the formation of autolysosomes as indicated by the overlap of LAMP1 and LC3. Meanwhile, MC-LR significantly activated the proteins in IRE1 pathway (IRE1, XBP1 and JNK) and in CaMKKβ pathway (CaMKKβ, AMPK, mTOR). Furthermore, MC-LR caused weight loss and ovarian histopathological damage in mice. Ultimately, a model-free integrated controller of the PEMFC gas supply system with better global searching ability and training efficiency is obtained. However, determining the potential medical uses of bio(nano)coating prepared in this way requires an analysis of its surface roughness, tribology, or wettability, especially in the context of the commonly used reference coat-forming hydroxyapatite (HAp). According to our results, the surface roughness ranged between (112 ± 3) nm (Ag-SiO2)-(141 ± 5) nm (HAp), the water contact angle was in the range (74.8 ± 1.6)° (Ag-SiO2)-(70.6 ± 1.2)° (HAp), while the surface free energy was in the range of 45.4 mJ/m2 (Ag-SiO2)-46.8 mJ/m2 (HAp). The adhesive force and friction coefficient were determined to be 1.04 (Ag-SiO2)-1.14 (HAp) and 0.247 ± 0.012 (Ag-SiO2) and 0.397 ± 0.034 (HAp), respectively. The chemical data showed that the release of the metal, mainly Ni from the covered NiTi substrate or Ag from Ag-SiO2 coating had a negligible effect. It was revealed that the NiTi alloy that was coated with Ag-SiO2 did not favor the formation of E. coli or S. aureus biofilm compared to the HAp-coated alloy. Moreover, both approaches to surface functionalization indicated good viability of the normal human dermal fibroblast and osteoblast cells and confirmed the high osteoconductive features of the biomaterial. In vitro, LDD-2633 showed potent inhibition of RET kinase activity, with an IC50 of 4.42 nM. The growth of TT thyroid carcinoma cells harboring an RET mutation was suppressed by LDD-2633 treatment via the proliferation suppression and the induction of apoptosis. Background The RNF213 (ring finger protein 213 gene) variant R4810K is a susceptibility allele not only for Moyamoya disease (MMD) but also for intracranial atherosclerosis (ICAS) in East Asian populations. We hypothesized that this variant would affect the distribution of ICAS and recurrence of cerebrovascular events. Methods and Results We conducted a prospective study of patients with ICAS and MMD using high-resolution magnetic resonance imaging and RNF213 R4810K genotyping. Patients were included in the ICAS group when relevant plaques existed on high-resolution magnetic resonance imagingand in the MMD group when they carried the variant and high-resolution magnetic resonance imaging showed no plaques but characteristic features of MMD. We compared clinical and neuroimaging features of patients with ICAS-RNF213+ with patients with ICAS-RNF213- and of patients with MMD. We aimed to evaluate the formation of enzymatic and nonenzymatic collagen cross-linking and its clinical significance in patients with hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy. Methods and Results Forty-four patients with hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy who underwent surgical myectomy were consecutively enrolled. Cardiovascular magnetic resonance parameters of left atrial/left ventricular function were measured, including peak filling rate (PFR) and early peak emptying rate (PER-E). Total collagen was the sum of soluble and insoluble collagen, which were assessed by collagen assay. The myocardial LOX and AGEs expression were measured by molecular and biochemical methods. Compared with patients without atrial fibrillation, insoluble collagen (P=0.018), insoluble collagen fraction (P=0.017), and AGEs (P=0.039) were higher in patients with atrial fibriiated with the occurrence of atrial fibrillation in patients with hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy.Although geographic information system-based studies are particularly increasing in other sectors, few have embraced their full potential in health services allocation in Malaysia. This study aimed to produce a visual map on the distribution of smoking cessation clinics (SCCs) in Malaysia and analyze its pattern against the national population of smokers. SCC addresses were obtained from the government website and mapped using geographic information system tools. A total of 199 and 449 private and public SCCs was mapped throughout the country, respectively. The lowest SCC to smoker population ratio was in the state of Negeri Sembilan with 13000. The highest SCC to smoker population ratio was in Sabah with 1 SCC for 15 000 smokers. Almost 70% of SCCs were primary health clinics. Smoking cessation clinics were distributed throughout all the states in Malaysia except the state of Sabah.
We recently reported that treatment with rhBDNF (recombinant human brain-derived neurotrophic factor) improved the reduced exercise capacity of **** with heart failure (HF) after myocardial infarction (MI). Since BDNF is reported to enhance fatty acid oxidation, we herein conducted an in vivo investigation to determine whether the improvement in exercise capacity is due to the enhancement of the fatty acid oxidation of skeletal muscle via the AMPKα-PGC1α (adenosine monophosphate-activated protein kinase-ɑ-proliferator-activated receptor-r coactivator-1ɑ) axis.

Two independent rodent heart failure models were used for the studies transverse aortic constriction/myocardial infarction (MI) in **** and post-MI remodeling in rats. Seventy-five **** underwent a prevention treatment strategy with a KE comprised of hexanoyl-hexyl-3-hydroxybutyrate KE (KE-1) diet, and 77 rats were treated in either a prevention or treatment regimen using a commercially available β-hydroxybutyrate-(R)-1,3-butanediol monoester (DeltaG; KE-2) diet.

Methods and Results Forty-four patients with hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy who underwent surgical myectomy were consecutively enrolled. Cardiovascular magnetic resonance parameters of left atrial/left ventricular function were measured, including peak filling rate (PFR) and early peak emptying rate (PER-E). Total collagen was the sum of soluble and insoluble collagen, which were assessed by collagen assay. The myocardial LOX and AGEs expression were measured by molecular and biochemical methods. This study aimed to produce a visual map on the distribution of smoking cessation clinics (SCCs) in Malaysia and analyze its pattern against the national population of smokers. SCC addresses were obtained from the government website and mapped using geographic information system tools. A total of 199 and 449 private and public SCCs was mapped throughout the country, respectively. The lowest SCC to smoker population ratio was in the state of Negeri Sembilan with 13000. The highest SCC to smoker population ratio was in Sabah with 1 SCC for 15 000 smokers. Almost 70% of SCCs were primary health clinics. Smoking cessation clinics were distributed throughout all the states in Malaysia except the state of Sabah. Saudi Arabia's culturally diverse population is growing rapidly. The need for cultural competence is greatest in pediatric units where nurses provide care to children in collaboration with their parents.
Nonprobability sampling of 394 nurses and cross-sectional descriptive design was used to investigate nurses' cultural competence, and to examine the relationships between the variables and participants' demographic data in pediatric units across five hospitals in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, by asking nurses to complete a self-report questionnaire.
The results suggest a high degree of cultural competency. Participants' scores indicated high levels of perceived cultural awareness, sensitivity, and cultural competence behavior for performance.

This was the mother's third stillbirth related to CHI, despite treatment with intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG), prednisone, low-molecular-weight heparin, and acetylsalicylic acid (ASA). On placental examination, the majority of the fetal surface was calcified. This variably formed a continuous band or dispersed calcium microparticles. Electron microscopy demonstrated associated electron dense deposits highly suggestive of immune complex deposition. CHI explains recurrent IUGR and stillbirth, but has not been associated with calcification or immune complex deposition. We hypothesize IVIG therapy may have caused immune complex deposition and subsequent dystrophic calcification, supported by its rare association with immune complex deposition disorders in the kidney. Identification of additional cases with this pattern of calcification, with additional studies on fresh tissue including immunofluorescence, electron microscopy and mass spectrometry, may aid in elucidating the underlying pathophysiology and clinical significance of this unusual lesion.

Cases taken from the mortuary electronic database from 2012 to 2017 are analyzed. The minimally invasive service consisted primarily of external examination, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and placental examination. Any significant conditions found noted. All pathology reports include a

Of 1498 perinatal postmortems, 105 (7%) were PM MRI, of which 75.24% were intrauterine fetal deaths. Relevant conditions were identified in 94 cases (89.52%), and ReCoDe categories in 80 cases (76.19%). Moreover, 90% of cases had a ReCoDe condition, with 10% unclassified. Seven cases had more than 1 ReCoDe. Main conditions related to placenta (32.5%) and umbilical cord (27.5%). The most informative elements were placental examination and MRI.

We describe a 19-year-old mother with untreated syphilis who delivered a male neonate with low birth weight, skin desquamation, and pneumonia. Placenta examination showed the expected changes for syphilis but unexpectedly, also showed MPFD. To our knowledge, this is the first report of MPFD associated with placental syphilis, thus expanding the list of etiologies that may be related to MPFD/MFI. It is postulated that the syphilis infection in our case led to a hypercoaguable state, eventually resulting in MPFD. In the right clinical setting, syphilis might be considered in the differential diagnosis when MPFD/MFI is observed on placental examination. The recurrence risk of MFPD/MFI associated with infections is believed to be lower than idiopathic cases and, by extrapolation, this lower risk should apply to syphilis as well.An energy-based approach to quantifying the mechanical demands of overground, constant velocity and/or intermittent running patterns is presented. Total mechanical work done (Wtotal ) is determined from the sum of the four sub components work done to accelerate the centre of mass horizontally (Whor ), vertically (Wvert ), to overcome air resistance (Wair ) and to swing the limbs (Wlimbs ). These components are determined from established relationships between running velocity and running kinematics; and the application of work-energy theorem. The model was applied to constant velocity running (2-9 m/s), a hard acceleration event and a hard deceleration event. The estimated Wtotal and each sub component were presented as mechanical demand (work per unit distance) and power (work per unit time), for each running pattern. The analyses demonstrate the model is able to produce estimates that 1) are principally determined by the absolute running velocity and/or acceleration; and 2) can be attributed to different mechanical demands given the nature of the running bout.

In this article, the authors discuss a community-based participatory research (CBPR)-driven and culturally tailored social media campaign to promote living kidney donation and transplantation (LKDT) serving Native American communities, who are disproportionately burdened by kidney failure. The effort represents a collaboration among researchers, tribal leaders and community members, medical centers, and other stakeholders to facilitate health promotion related to LKDT among the broader Native American community. Campaign objectives were collaboratively established by the researchers and stakeholders, and the campaign approach and materials were likewise developed in consultation with the community. The results indicated that the use of success stories about LKDT within campaign materials was a statistically significant predictors of heightened campaign engagement (p = .003, β = .223). Recommendations are offered for partnering with tribal communities and other stakeholders, as well as for building tailored health promotion strategies.

Despite autopsy findings of a "gastric cancer" and, more importantly, gastric perforated ulcer complicated with bleeding, the questions about the illness that tormented Napoleon at St. Helena and whether the death was a consequence of a poisoning, maintain an unbroken fascination. PubMed/MEDLINE lists hundreds of articles. We also consulted Index-Cat library for articles dating **** to the eighteenth century. The present paper presents for the first time a systematic review on this topic.
The authors divided the selected articles according to the methodology of the papers (a) illness and autopsy evidence revised by current pathological knowledge; (b) toxicological tests on Napoleon's hair performed by modern analytical techniques.
None of the articles denied the toxicological evidence from Napoleon's hair, although analytical papers did not offer homogeneous results due to several biases. Few of them refuted the hypothesis of death due to primary toxic substances. Most considered gastric bleeding is the primary cause of Napoleon's death due to solely or nearly completely gastric cancer or to medications containing antimony, mercury, or arsenic.
Upon review of the contemporary and modern evidence, we classify Napoleon's 1821 death as "unnatural" with massive gastric bleeding due to primary involvement of toxic substances that may have precipitated or exacerbated an underlying "natural" pathological condition or a disease as likely could be a stomach carcinoma; it does not imply criminal intent.

ACUSEAL Vascular graft is an early cannulation arteriovenous graft (AVG) that allows early puncture within 24 h after surgery. We aimed to report the outcomes of using this graft in patients from a single center.
This study included 113 patients who underwent surgery for a new AVG using ACUSEAL, between December 2015 and December 2017, and were followed up. The primary outcomes were primary patency, assisted-primary patency, and secondary patency. Secondary outcomes were postoperative complications such as graft infection and steal syndrome.
Of the 113 patients, 60 were male and 53 were female. The average age was 74.4 ± 10.7 years. We could cannulate 69.1% of patients within 24 h. The average follow-up period was 20.1 ± 10.8 months. The primary patency rates after 3 months, 6 months, and 1 year were 76.2%, 60.4%, and 33.8%, respectively. However, due to the large outer diameter of the graft, surgical wounds might become dehiscent, and careful designing of the subcutaneous graft route is necessary. Results National recommendations for HPVv exist in 46/53 (87%) countries, of which 38 (83%), 2 (4%), and 6 (13%) countries provided full, partial, or no funding, respectively, for the primary cohort. Fully or partially funded HPVv was provided for girls only in 25/53 (47%) countries and for both boys and girls in 15/53 (28%) countries. HPVv recommendations and funding data (target age, gender, schedule, setting, target and monitored VCR) for primary and catch-up cohorts were collected. Results National recommendations for HPVv exist in 46/53 (87%) countries, of which 38 (83%), 2 (4%), and 6 (13%) countries provided full, partial, or no funding, respectively, for the primary cohort. Fully or partially funded HPVv was provided for girls only in 25/53 (47%) countries and for both boys and girls in 15/53 (28%) countries. HPVv catch-up was fully or partially funded in 14/53 (26%) countries.
