Contrary to the conventional dietary assessment methods, this dietary assessment device measures food intake directly within a meal and is not dependent on memory or the portion size estimation. Ultimately, this device is therefore suited for daily main meal food intake and eating behavior measures. We show that the nucleation and growth mechanisms of gold nanoparticles are drastically impacted by the temperature in liquid cell. Using STEM imaging and nanodiffraction, the evolution of the density, size, shape and atomic structure of the growing nanoparticles are revealed in real time. Automated image processing algorithms are exploited to extract useful quantitative data from video sequences, such as the nucleation and growth rates of nanoparticles.   • Three Gorges Dam (TGD) is the largest hydroelectric construction in the world, and its potential impacts on the ecological environment and human health risks have invoked considerable global concern. However, as a mercury (Hg) sensitive system, limited work was conducted on the Hg exposure level of local residents around the Three Gorges Reservoir (TGR). Thus, 540 human hair samples and 22 species of local food samples were collected to assess the Hg exposure and human health risk to the residents located in the Three Gorges Reservoir Region (TGRR) and to investigate their dietary exposure to Hg. The results showed that the geometric mean concentrations of total mercury (THg) and methylmercury (MeHg) in hair were 0.42 ± 0.43 μg g-1 and 0.23 ± 0.32 μg g-1, respectively, lower than the reference level (1.0 μg g-1) recommended by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA), indicating a low level Hg exposure for residents around the TGR. No significant difference in the accumulation of Hg in hair between the gender subgroups was observed, whereas age difference, smoking and alcohol drinking behavior, and fish consumption frequency were significant predictors of hair Hg level. Besides, THg and MeHg of all the investigated food samples did not exceed the corresponding Chinese national standard. The average probable daily intakes (PDIs) of THg and MeHg were 0.032 μg kg-1 day-1 and 0.007 μg kg-1 day-1, which were obviously below the recommended values of 0.57 μg kg-1 day-1 and 0.1 μg kg-1 day-1, respectively. The cereal (mainly rice) contribution of THg (76.0%) and MeHg (74.4%) intakes to the local residents around the TGR was **** higher than that of fish (10.7% and 22.9%, respectively) due to the considerable rice consumption.     A paternalistic approach to treatment planning is common, but there is a growing interest in involving clients in the planning of their own treatment, both in medical care and psychotherapy. Several studies on matching patients to treatment have failed to improve outcome. Studies on Shared Decision-Making in mental health are encouraging but somewhat ambiguous in addiction treatment.

    This study investigated whether self-matching (Informed Choice) to treatment improves alcohol consumption, retention, and quality of life.

    402 consecutive clients (female 46.7 %, mean age 47.4) seeking treatment for alcohol use disorder at the outpatient clinic in Odense, Denmark were enrolled in this single-blinded randomized controlled trial. Clients randomized to the intervention group watched an 8-minute video presentation of the treatments and then chose the treatment they preferred. Clients in the treatment as usual (TAU) group were allocated to treatment by an evidence-based algorithm. Measurements on alcohol consumption, quality of life, and retention in care were completed at baseline and 6-month follow-up.

    There was no significant difference on primary and secondary outcome measures between the Informed Choice group and TAU group at 6-month follow-up. 80 % of clients in the Informed Choice group were satisfied with being randomized to self-matching whereas 24 % in the TAU group were satisfied with being assigned by expert matching.

    Long-term prescription opioid use has been associated with adverse health outcomes, including opioid use disorder (OUD). We examined a population of opioid naïve individuals who initiated prescription opioids for non-cancer pain and investigated the associations between opioid prescription characteristics at initiation and time to treated OUD.

    We conducted a retrospective population-based cohort study in Ontario, Canada among opioid naïve individuals aged 15 years and older dispensed an opioid for non-cancer pain between 2013 and 2016. We used the Narcotic Monitoring System to abstract opioid dispensing data. A multivariable Cox regression model was used to examine the association between average daily dose and time to treated OUD.

    We identified 1,607,659 opioid-naïve individuals who initiated a prescription opioid within the study period. The incidence of treated OUD within the study period was 86 cases per 100,000 person-years. This study investigated whether self-matching (Informed Choice) to treatment improves alcohol consumption, retention, and quality of life. 402 consecutive clients (female 46.7 %, mean age 47.4) seeking treatment for alcohol use disorder at the outpatient clinic in Odense, Denmark were enrolled in this single-blinded randomized controlled trial. Clients randomized to the intervention group watched an 8-minute video presentation of the treatments and then chose the treatment they preferred. Clients in the treatment as usual (TAU) group were allocated to treatment by an evidence-based algorithm.   • Recently, substantial research efforts have gone into bridging the accuracy-efficiency gap between parameterized force field models and quantum chemical calculations by extracting molecule-specific force fields directly from ab initio data in a robust and automated manner. One of the challenging aspects is deriving localized atomic polarizabilities for pairwise distributed dispersion models. The Tkatchenko-Scheffler model is based upon correcting free-atom C6 coefficients according to the square of the ratio of the atom-in-molecule volume to the free-atom volume. However, it has recently been shown that a more accurate relationship can be found if static atomic polarizabilities are also taken into account. Using this relationship, we develop two modified Tkatchenko-Scheffler dispersion models and benchmark their performance against SAPT2+3 reference data and other commonly used dispersion models.Molecular Dynamics (MD) simulations are uniquely suitable for providing molecular-level insights into the Electric Double Layer (EDL) that forms when a charged surface is in contact with an aqueous solution. However, simulations are only as accurate in predicting EDL properties as permitted by the atomic interaction models. Experimental ζ-potential values and surface charges could provide a potentially suitable reference to validate and tune the interaction models, if not for the fact that they themselves are a product of imperfect models used to interpret the raw measurement data. Here, we present an approach to tune an interaction model by comparing Electro-Osmotic Flow (EOF) MD simulations against experimental Streaming Current (SC) measurements while minimizing potential modeling errors arising from both approaches. The point that is least susceptible to interpretation and modeling errors is argued to be at the concentration for which zero flow velocity is observed in EOF simulations and a net zero electric current is measured in SC experiments. At this concentration, the ζ-potential is also zero. We were able to match the experimental concentration at which ζ = 0 in MD simulations for a CaCl2 solution at pH 7.5 in contact with fused silica by tuning the ion-surface Lennard-Jones cross interactions. These interactions were found to greatly affect the ion distribution within the EDL and particularly the formation of inner-sphere surface-complexes, which, in turn, affects the electrokinetic flow. With the ion distribution determined explicitly, a series of properties can be calculated unambiguously, such as the capacitance needed for surface complexation models.The Perdew-Zunger self-interaction correction (PZ-SIC) improves the performance of density functional approximations for the properties that involve significant self-interaction error (SIE), as in stretched bond situations, but overcorrects for equilibrium properties where SIE is insignificant. This overcorrection is often reduced by local scaling self-interaction correction (LSIC) of the PZ-SIC to the local spin density approximation (LSDA). Here, we propose a new scaling factor to use in an LSIC-like approach that satisfies an additional important constraint the correct coefficient of the atomic number Z in the asymptotic expansion of the exchange-correlation (xc) energy for atoms. LSIC and LSIC+ are scaled by functions of the iso-orbital indicator zσ, which distinguishes one-electron regions from many-electron regions. LSIC+ applied to the LSDA works better for many equilibrium properties than LSDA-LSIC and the Perdew, Burke, and Ernzerhof generalized gradient approximation (GGA), and almost close to the strongly constrained and appropriately normed (SCAN) meta-GGA. LSDA-LSIC and LSDA-LSIC+, however, fail to predict interaction energies involving weaker bonds, in sharp contrast to their earlier successes. It is found that more than one set of localized SIC orbitals can yield a nearly degenerate energetic description of the same multiple covalent bond, suggesting that a consistent chemical interpretation of the localized orbitals requires a new way to choose their Fermi orbital descriptors. To make a locally scaled down SIC to functionals beyond the LSDA requires a gauge transformation of the functional's energy density. The resulting SCAN-sdSIC, evaluated on SCAN-SIC total and localized orbital densities, leads to an acceptable description of many equilibrium properties including the dissociation energies of weak bonds.The reactions of the O+ ions in the 4S electronic ground state with D2 and HD were studied in a cryogenic 22-pole radio-frequency ion trap in the temperature range of 15 K-300 K.   • To characterize the health behaviors and outcomes of first-year international students (FYIS) studying in the U.S.
    Three different cohorts of FYIS from a large midwestern university in the U.S. completed three laboratory visits between August and March. The study began in 2017 and ended in March 2020. Anthropometrics, acculturative stress, eating behaviors, sleep, physical activity, and eating habits were assessed.
    Fifty-four students completed the study. Females had a significant increase in percent body fat (
     = .036) and a decrease in sleep quality (
     = .006) at the final visit vs. baseline, and uncontrolled (
     = .006) and emotional (
     < .001) eating behaviors were higher. FYIS who gained more than the median 1.2 kg over the study period experienced higher acculturative stress (
     = .004) and a decline in sleep quality (
     = .003).
    Reducing acculturative stress and improving sleep quality should be explored as interventions to protect against undesirable changes in adiposity among FYIS.

    This study aimed to assess the psychosocial effects and coping strategies of university students during COVID-19 pandemic.
    Between 30 May and 6 June 2020, an online cross-sectional survey was fulfilled by 612 university students. The University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) Loneliness Scale, version 3, the Depression Anxiety Stress Scale (DASS-21), and the Brief COPE scale were used.
    Different degrees of depression, anxiety, and stress were reported by 74.5%, 47.1%, and 40.5% of the surveyed students, respectively. Dysfunctional coping strategies including venting, denial, and substance use had the lowest scores on Brief COPE while problem-focused coping strategies including planning and active coping strategies had the highest scores on Brief COPE.
    Undergraduate university students are very prone to experience psychosocial problems during the current pandemic.     Systemic sclerosis-pulmonary arterial hypertension (SSc-PAH) is one of the most prevalent and deadly forms of PAH. B cells may contribute to SSc pathogenesis.

    We investigated the safety and efficacy of B-cell depletion for SSc-PAH.

    In an NIH-sponsored, multi-center, double-blinded, randomized, placebo-controlled, proof-of-concept trial, 57 SSc-PAH patients on stable-dose standard medical therapy received two infusions of 1000 mg of rituximab or placebo administered two weeks apart. The primary outcome measure was the change in six-minute walk distance (6MWD) at 24 weeks. Secondary endpoints included safety and invasive hemodynamics. We applied a machine learning approach to predict drug-responsiveness.

    We randomized 57 subjects from 2010-2018. In the primary analysis, using data through week 24, the adjusted mean change in 6MWD at 24 weeks favored the treatment arm but did not reach statistical significance (23.6±11.1m vs. 0.5±9.7m, p=0.12).     To characterize the health behaviors and outcomes of first-year international students (FYIS) studying in the U.S. Three different cohorts of FYIS from a large midwestern university in the U.S. completed three laboratory visits between August and March. The primary outcome measure was the change in six-minute walk distance (6MWD) at 24 weeks. Secondary endpoints included safety and invasive hemodynamics. We applied a machine learning approach to predict drug-responsiveness. We randomized 57 subjects from 2010-2018. The results showed that Centers from Europe had more 2-point made (ES = 0.69), 2-point attempted (ES = 0.79), and offensive (ES = 0.64) and defensive (ES = 0.48) rebounds than forward. Asian and European guards performed a fewer number of 2-point made (ES = 0.90; 0.91), 2-point attempted (ES = 1.06; 0.98), and offensive (ES = 1.30; 1.23) and defensive (ES = 0.93; 0.94) rebounds than Asian and European centers. African and Asian forward had more 2-point made (ES = 0.48; 0.50), 2-point attempted (ES = 0.50; 0.56) than guards. We also collected data on demographic and job-related factors, as well as physicians' experiences of medical disputes, medical disturbances, verbal and physical violence from patients and the patients' family members.

    In total, 22,213 physicians from 144 tertiary public hospitals in all of China's 31 provinces completed the survey. The overall burnout rate among the surveyed physicians was 31.28%. Moreover, 33.48% of physicians experienced disputes, 20.86% experienced disturbances, 48.52% experienced verbal violence, and 5.84% experienced physical violence in the past 12 months. Factors found to be significantly associated with burnout included younger age, being divorced or widowed, having a lower educational background, working in internal medicine departments, longer working hours per day, working in general hospitals, being in East China, as well as having experienced disputes, disturbances, and physical and verbal violence.

The present study explores the applicability of a dual-factor model of mental health in mental health screening of Chinese college students. To assess mental health statuses of 2,065 college students, we used Flourishing Scale Chinese Version, Satisfaction With Life Scale, the seven-item Patient Health Questionnaire, the Mental Health Continuum-Short Form, and Purpose in Life Test-Short Form. Results showed that the dual-factor model of mental health has a good fit index. Also, a feasible screening scale was addressed. The results indicate the importance of addressing both subjective well-being and psychopathology in evaluating mental health screening of college students.Grit, which is originally conceptualized as passion and perseverance for long-term goals, has been associated with optimal performance. The review highlights that the field is fragmented among disruptive technologies, shared platforms and ecosystems, and new enabling technologies. We conclude that digital transformation has impacted value creation, delivery, and capture in almost every industry. These impacts have led to the employment of a variety of new business models, such as those for frugal innovation and the circular economy.

This study examined interprofessional collaboration (IPC) among health professionals in all CLP specialised centres in South Africa's public health sector.

    During 2017, a survey was conducted among health professionals at all the specialised CLP centres in South Africa's public health sector. Following informed consent, each member of the CLP team completed a self-administered questionnaire on IPC, using the Interprofessional Competency Framework Self-Assessment Tool. The IPC questionnaire consists of seven domains with 51 items care expertise (8 items); shared power (4 items); collaborative leadership (10 items); shared decision-making (2 items); optimising professional role and scope (10 items); effective group function (9 items); and competent communication (8 items). A total of 186 patients with leukemia completed the EQ-5D-5L and their health utility scores were calculated using the Chinese value set. EQ-5D-5L utility and dimensions scores of leukemia patients were compared with China's population norms using Kruskal-Wallis test and chi square test. Potential factors associated with health utility were identified using Tobit regression.

    The mean EQ-5D-5L utility scores of patients with leukemia, grouped by either gender or age, were significantly lower than those of the general population (p < 0.001). The same results were found for individual dimensions of EQ-5D-5L, where leukemia patients reported more health problems than the general population (p < 0.001). The utility score of leukemia patients was found to be significantly related to medical insurance, religious belief, comorbidities, social support and ECOG performance status.

Study quality was assessed using the SQUIRE checklist for quality improvement studies. Data were extracted about study details, setting, participants, intervention, method of evaluation and results. Outcomes, mechanisms and contexts were coded in nVivo. Data synthesis was guided by Lewis' theory of the impact of how interventions using PP can impact organisational performance in healthcare. Few identified outcomes were statistically significant, however, trends in both quantitative and qualitative outcomes show that PP interventions can increase well-being and interaction and support and thus improve organisational performance in healthcare. The developed logic model can be used in the implementation and evaluation of interventions using PP for health personnel. The trend observed over the three birth decades was discussed.

    Around 407,871 veterans aged ≥55 years receiving care from US Veterans Health Administration between August 2003 and September 2015 were included in our retrospective study. AF and incident dementia were determined according to ICD-9-CM codes. Logistic regressions with veterans grouped into high-dimensional propensity scores deciles were used, and a mediation analysis was employed to examine the extent of cardio/cerebrovascular diseases that may also account for that association.

    AF was associated with greater dementia risk (odds ratio = 1.14; 95% confidence interval 1.07-1.22), partially mediated by cardio/cerebrovascular disease. Among veterans with AF taking anticoagulants, the risk of dementia was 44% higher (odds ratio =1.44; 95% CI 1.27-1.63) compared to those without anticoagulants, likely related to AF severity.

    To assess the role, impact, safety, and performance of DUS in the management of patients with suspected TT before scrotal exploration.

    The TORSAFUF cohort retrospectively included patients older than 12 yr who underwent surgery for suspected TT in 14 academic hospitals between 2005 and 2019. Perioperative data and surgical and DUS reports were collected.

    Clinical factors influencing DUS utilisation were analysed using multivariate logistic regression. The orchidectomy rate and delay to surgery were compared by group with and without DUS receipt using one-to-one propensity score (PS) matching to assess imaging safety. For the group with preoperative imaging, DUS performance was evaluated using a contingency table.

    Overall, 2922 patients were included, of whom 956 (32.7%) underwent DUS before surgery. DUS was more li not associated with a higher risk of negative outcomes but was only moderate in accurately diagnosing TT. Surgery to correct TT should not be delayed.

Among the three modalities, PUL demonstrates rare occurrence of serious complications but higher retreatment rates at short- and long-term follow-up. WVTT offers lower retreatment rates with a similar safety profile. TIND studies report varying rates of retreatment and complications.

In this review, we describe recent developments in understanding the genetic burden of PsA, linkage, association and epigenetic studies. Using pathway analysis, we provide further insights into the similarities and differences between PsA and psoriasis, as well as between PsA and other immune-mediated inflammatory diseases, particularly ankylosing spondylitis, another SpA. Environmental factors that may trigger PsA in patients with psoriasis are also reviewed. To further understand the pathogenetic differences between PsA and psoriasis as well as other SpA, larger cohort studies of well-phenotyped subjects with integrated analysis of genomic, epigenomic, transcriptomic, proteomic and metabolomic data using interomic system biology approaches are required.
    Despite increased literature on the impact of racism in the past decades, relatively few studies have focused on the effects of racism on younger children. This article reviews research from the past 5 years focusing on the impact of racism on infant and early childhood mental health and socioemotional development.

    Longitudinal studies provide evidence that very young children are highly influenced by exposure to multiple and interconnecting levels of racism and discrimination. These forms of exposure (structural and personally mediated, which can be further divided into direct and indirect exposure) are particularly nefarious to young children's socioemotional development and have implications for adolescent and adult mental health with lasting sequelae. Furthermore, the effects of racism on parenting practices and maternal/caregiver mental health appear to indicate mechanisms through which racism affects young children. Although more studies are needed in this area, recent literature indicates that raciracism is a social determinant of health that adversely impacts infant and early childhood socioemotional, and behavioral development. Future studies should focus on understanding the mechanisms through which racism impacts early childhood development and health, and interventions to prevent and mitigate the effects of racism.
