    Extremely preterm infants are often exposed to endotracheal tube continuous positive airway pressure (ETT-CPAP) trials to assess extubation readiness. The effects of ETT-CPAP trial on their diaphragmatic activity (Edi) and breathing variability is unknown.

    Using an untargeted liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry metabolomics protocol, we measured over 9000 metabolites in 298 neonatal residual heel ***** dried blood spots retrieved from the Danish Neonatal Screening Biobank. By combining multiple state-of-the-art metabolome mining tools, we retrieved chemical structural information at a broad level for over 5000 (60%) metabolites and assessed their relation to gestational age.

    A total of 1459 (~16%) metabolites were significantly correlated with gestational age (false discovery rate-adjusted P < 0.05), whereas 83 metabolites explained on average 48% of the variance in gestational age. Using a custom algorithm based on hypergeometric testing, we identified compound classes (617 metabolites) overrepresented with metabolites correlating with gestational age (P < 0.05).   • The ongoing UNIFI long-term extension evaluates subcutaneous ustekinumab for moderate-to-severe ulcerative colitis (UC) from weeks 44 through 220.

    To assess efficacy (through week 92) and safety (through week 96) during the long-term extension METHODS Overall, 399 responders to intravenous ustekinumab induction and who were randomised to maintenance therapy were treated in the long-term extension (115 received subcutaneous placebo, 141 received ustekinumab 90mg every 12weeks [q12w], and 143 received ustekinumab 90mg q8w). Placebo treatment was discontinued at unblinding after week 44. Partial Mayo scores were collected every 12weeks and at each dosing visit after unblinding. Safety was evaluated throughout.

    Among all patients randomised in maintenance, symptomatic remission rates (stool frequency=0/1; rectal bleeding=0) at week 92 were, 64.5% and 67.6% in the ustekinumab q12w and q8w groups, respectively. Among randomised patients treated in the long-term extension, 78.7% and 83.2% of patients receiving q12w and q8w, respectively, attained symptomatic remission at week 92; >95% of patients in symptomatic remission at week 92 were corticosteroid-free. Both ustekinumab groups maintained efficacy through week 92. From weeks 44 to 96, adverse events (AEs) per hundred patient-years (PY) of follow-up for combined ustekinumab vs placebo were 255.68 vs 267.93; serious AEs, 9.34 vs 12.69; malignancies (including non-melanoma skin cancers), 0.93 vs 1.49; and serious infections, 2.33 vs 2.99. One patient with multiple comorbidities who received one ustekinumab dose after dose adjusting from placebo experienced a fatal cardiac arrest.

We retrospectively analyzed 102 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and chronic kidney disease to whom sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitors were administered for more than 1 year, and whose blood pressure were monitored both at the office and at home. The blood pressure at the office and at home significantly decreased, and there was a significant positive correlation between both blood pressure values. Controlled, white-coat, and sustained hypertension were observed in 9.8%, 14.7%, and 55.9% of the patients at the beginning of the treatment, which changed to 16.7%, 15.7%, and 48.0% at the time of the survey, however, the ratio of masked hypertension was not changed (19.6%). The cutoff value of mean arterial pressure at home after treatment for the improvement of urine albumin to creatinine ratio was 92.0 mm Hg, with 54.1% of sensitivity and 60.0% of specificity.     Research suggests that sport facilitates belonging for diverse athletes. This scoping review characterizes literature on sport participation and belonging for young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

    A search of five databases identified 17,497 articles. Selected articles (N=39) underwent data extraction and analysis guided by a theoretical framework of belonging, outlining four processes through which belonging is experienced by individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

    Articles originated from developed countries and in the context of Special Olympics (N=17). Studies commonly used qualitative interviews with proxy respondents. While all studies described at least one belonging process, only 11 studies applied the term "belonging," and no study defined the construct.

    Belonging is not well-conceptualized in sports literature for athletes with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Understanding belonging through sport participation for this population may inform sport-based policies and programming.

    To assess caregiver-reported dementia as a risk factor for retained roots, an indicator of poor oral hygiene, among patients receiving home-visit dental treatment in Japan.

    The medical records of 231 dentate patients who received home-visit dental treatment (covered by public medical insurance) for more than 2 years were retrospectively analyzed. The number of teeth and retained roots at the initial and final examinations were obtained from the dental charts, and the "change in the number of retained roots from initial to final examination" was determined. The presence or absence of caregiver-reported dementia, diabetes, and osteoporosis, as well as the level of long-term care needed, were used as indicators of general health condition at the initial interview. Multiple regression analyses were conducted in five models that tested the association of independent variables (age, gender, observation period, general health, presence or absence of caregiver-reported dementia at the initial interview) with changes in the number of retained roots.

    In all models, the presence of caregiver-reported dementia at the initial interview was significantly associated with the change in the number of retained roots (p < .05). The adjusted coefficient of determination (R
    ) of model 5, which included all the predetermined independent factors, was .168.

  • Excessive Internet use can negatively affect academic performance, family relationships and emotional development among the youth. Such issues have been identified as Internet addiction (IA). We aimed to determine the prevalence of IA among Portuguese adolescents and assess how parental control can relate to IA.

    An observational cross-sectional study was performed at public schools within a Portuguese region, using Young's Internet Addiction Test survey. General sociodemographic and emotional well-being data were obtained. A descriptive and bivariate analysis was done among Internet-addicted and average users, followed by a logistic regression analysis. Adjusted odds ratios (aORs) were computed with two-sided
    values<.05 for statistical significance.

    A total of 1916 eligible responses were obtained. Mean age was 15±1.8 years, with a slight predominance of female (53.3%) participants. In our sample, 16.5% were deemed Internet addicted and less likely to have any parental control over Internet use (aOR 0.74,
    <.05). Moreover, 28% of the Internet-addicted users were less likely to have control over time spent online (aOR 0.72,
    <.05), and close to half were unlikely to have online content restrictions (aOR 0.56,
    <.01).

    Our findings reported a significant rate of Internet-addicted youth. IA was negatively related to parental control. Whenever any kind of parental control over Internet use was reported, IA was less likely to occur. Healthcare professionals should be aware of the risks of IA in adolescents to improve its prevention and intervention.

    To assess the usefulness of serum ferritin and soluble interleukin-2 receptor (sIL-2r) levels as markers of disease activity in childhood systemic lupus erythematosus (cSLE) and their role in screen for subclinical macrophage activation syndrome (MAS).

    This is a cross-sectional analysis of prospectively collected data. Consecutive children who met the Systemic Lupus International Collaborating Clinics (SLICC) criteria were enrolled between June 2015 and June 2017. All patients interviewed and assessed for disease activity using SLE disease activity index (SLEDAI). Biochemical and serological tests including markers of disease activity and MAS were measured by standard laboratory procedure.

    A total of 31 (25 female; 6 male) consecutive cSLE patients with a mean age of 10.6 (±3.2) years were included. The most frequent manifestations were mucocutaneous and musculoskeletal (84%) followed by hematological (64.5%) then renal involvement (58%). Twenty-two patients had active disease (SLEDAI ≥ 4), with a mean of 9.8. Mean serum ferritin and sIL-2r were 555 (±1860) and 2789 (±1299) respectively. Both correlated significantly with leucocyte, platelet count, transferrin, C3 and SLEDAI (
     < 0.05). Additionally, sIL-2r had positive correlation with ANA, ds-DNA and C4. Both ferritin and sIL-2r had weak correlation with ESR, but no correlation with CRP. Twelve patients had a recent infection. However, they were comparable to patients without infection with regard to all clinical and laboratory features. Three patients had MAS proved by bone marrow aspiration.

    Excessive Internet use can negatively affect academic performance, family relationships and emotional development among the youth. Such issues have been identified as Internet addiction (IA). We aimed to determine the prevalence of IA among Portuguese adolescents and assess how parental control can relate to IA. An observational cross-sectional study was performed at public schools within a Portuguese region, using Young's Internet Addiction Test survey. General sociodemographic and emotional well-being data were obtained. A descriptive and bivariate analysis was done among Internet-addicted and average users, followed by a logistic regression analysis. Adjusted odds ratios (aORs) were computed with two-sided values<.05 for statistical significance. A total of 1916 eligible responses were obtained. Mean age was 15±1.8 years, with a slight predominance of female (53.3%) participants. In our sample, 16.5% were deemed Internet addicted and less likely to have any parental control over Internet use (aOR 0.74, <.05). Moreover, 28% of the Internet-addicted users were less likely to have control over time spent online (aOR 0.72, <.05), and close to half were unlikely to have online content restrictions (aOR 0.56, <.01). Our findings reported a significant rate of Internet-addicted youth. IA was negatively related to parental control. Whenever any kind of parental control over Internet use was reported, IA was less likely to occur. To assess the usefulness of serum ferritin and soluble interleukin-2 receptor (sIL-2r) levels as markers of disease activity in childhood systemic lupus erythematosus (cSLE) and their role in screen for subclinical macrophage activation syndrome (MAS). This is a cross-sectional analysis of prospectively collected data. Consecutive children who met the Systemic Lupus International Collaborating Clinics (SLICC) criteria were enrolled between June 2015 and June 2017. All patients interviewed and assessed for disease activity using SLE disease activity index (SLEDAI). Biochemical and serological tests including markers of disease activity and MAS were measured by standard laboratory procedure. A total of 31 (25 female; 6 male) consecutive cSLE patients with a mean age of 10.6 (±3.2) years were included. The most frequent manifestations were mucocutaneous and musculoskeletal (84%) followed by hematological (64.5%) then renal involvement (58%). Twenty-two patients had active disease (SLEDAI ≥ 4), with a mean of 9.8. Mean serum ferritin and sIL-2r were 555 (±1860) and 2789 (±1299) respectively. Both correlated significantly with leucocyte, platelet count, transferrin, C3 and SLEDAI (  < 0.05). Additionally, sIL-2r had positive correlation with ANA, ds-DNA and C4. Both ferritin and sIL-2r had weak correlation with ESR, but no correlation with CRP. Twelve patients had a recent infection. Here, using an animal model of general anesthesia-induced DES, we addressed these pathways by characterizing inflammatory changes in tear lipidome, in correlation with pathophysiological and biochemical signs of the disease. The decline in tear production was associated with the infiltration of inflammatory cells in the corneal stroma, which manifested one to three days after anesthesia, accompanied by changes in tear antioxidants and cytokines, resulting in persistent damage to the corneal epithelium. The inflammatory response manifested in the tear fluid as a short-term increase in linoleic and alpha-linolenic acid-derived oxylipins, followed by elevation in arachidonic acid and its derivatives, leukotriene B4 (5-lipoxigenase product), 12-hydroxyeicosatetraenoic acid (12-lipoxigeanse product) and prostaglandins, D2, E2 and F2α (cyclooxygenase products) that was observed for up to 7 days. Given these data, DES was treated by a novel ophthalmic formulation containing a dimethyl sulfoxide-based solution of zileuton, an inhibitor of 5-lipoxigenase and arachidonic acid release. The therapy markedly improved the corneal state in DES by attenuating cytokine- and oxylipin-mediated inflammatory responses, without affecting tear production rates. For this purpose, 3T MRI dynamic susceptibility contrast (DSC)-PWI and single-molecule assay (Simoa)-based sNfL methods were utilized when investigating 86 MS patients. The perfusion measures of mean transit time (MTT), cerebral blood volume (CBV), and cerebral blood flow (CBF) were derived for the normal-appearing whole brain (NAWB), the normal-appearing white matter (NAWM), the gray matter (GM), the deep GM (DGM), and the thalamus. The normalized CBV and CBF (nCBV and nCBV) were calculated by dividing by the corresponding NAWM measure. Age- and sex-adjusted linear regression models were used to determine associations between the DSC-PWI and sNfL results. False discovery rate (FDR)-adjusted p-values less then 0.05 were considered statistically significant. A greater age and thalamic MTT were independently associated with higher sNfL levels (p less then 0.001 and p = 0.011) and explained 36.9% of sNfL level variance. NAWM MTT association with sNfL levels did not survive the FDR correction. In similar models, a lower thalamic nCBF and nCBV were both associated with greater sNfL levels (p less then 0.001 and p = 0.022), explaining 37.8% and 44.7% of the variance, respectively.   • Mast cells (MCs) are important component of the immune system. Their physiological function is related to multiple areas of human physiology, thus symptoms of their increased activation vary greatly from severe allergic reactions such as anaphylaxis, to chronic symptoms like depression or osteoporosis. Studies on mastocytosis revealed a subgroup of patients presenting symptoms of increased degranulation of MCs, defined as Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS). Among them patients with primary MCAS presenting clonal abnormal MCs, who do not fulfill the criteria of mastocytosis. These symptoms often overlap patients comorbidities increasing difficulty of MCAS diagnosis and treatment. The diagnosis is established based on 3 criterions 1) typical symptoms, 2) serum tryptase elevation and 3) response to anti-mediator treatment. MCAS diagnosis is important especially in patients with anaphylaxis, osteoporosis who require epinephrine emergency kit and insect venom immunotherapy. The article describes genetic mechanisms, typical symptoms, criteria and diagnose implications of MCAS. The emphasis is put on practical guidance with the aim to improve patient care by practicing physicians.OBJECTIVE We carried out a systematic review and meta-analysis of epidemiologic studies on the association between occupational exposure to glyphosate and risk of non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) and multiple myeloma (MM). METHODS We conducted a systematic search of the literature, and identified 18 relevant publications, from which we extracted results from seven non-overlapping studies of NHL and three of MM. There was indication of publication bias for studies on NHL. CONCLUSIONS Our meta-analysis provided no overall evidence of an increased risk for both NHL and MM in subjects occupationally exposed to glyphosate. In secondary analyses we detected a small increase in risk for the category with highest level of exposure as well as for DLBCL. The evidence of publication bias suggests caution in the interpretation of the results.BACKGROUND The nasal carriage rate of Staphylococcus aureus in healthcare workers (HCWs) is higher than the general population. Their hands serve as vectors for transmitting S.aureus colonized in the nose to patients. OBJECTIVES To determine the rate of nasal S.aureus carriage and methicillin resistance in HCWs and to evaluate the relationship between carriage and personal risk factors and hand hygiene behaviors. METHODS The questionnaire included questions about sociodemographic characteristics, occupational and personal risk factors for S.aureus carriage, the "Hand Hygiene Belief Scale (HHBS)," and "Hand Hygiene Practices Inventory (HHPI)". Nasal culture was taken from all participants. Presence of S.aureus, methicillin and mupirocin resistance were investigated in samples. RESULTS The study was carried out with 269 HCWs. The prevalence of S.aureus carriage was 20.1% (n54). Among 54 S.aureus carriers, only one person had MRSA (0.37%). All S.aureus isolates were susceptible to mupirocin. S.aureus carriage was found to be significantly lower in the smoker group (p0.015) and in the personnel wearing gloves during the procedures of each patient (p0.002). S.aureus culture positivity was found to decrease significantly with increasing handwashing frequency (p0.003). The mean HHPI score was higher in women (p0.001). The mean HHPI score was lower in the group with nasal carriers than in non-carriers (p0.176). CONCLUSION The knowledge of hand hygiene practices, high frequency of handwashing, and wearing different gloves during the procedure of each patient decrease S.aureus nasal carriage in HCWs. OBJECTIVES To assess the prevalence of workplace violence. METHODS We performed a multicenter cross-sectional study using an anonymous questionnaire submitted to doctors from Northern Italy. The survey investigates socio-demographic information, the number of years of work in the health sector and the physical and verbal aggressions that occurred in the workplace in the last 12 months. RESULTS The sample consists of 4545 healthcare workers, of whom 2603 (57.27%) are females. The mean age of the sample is 49.79 years (SD ± 12.63). The risk of being victim of physical aggression at work in the last 12 months is significantly associated with the following independent variables male gender (aOR 2.09, 95% CI 1.51-2.88), work in the public sector (aOR 2.57, 95% CI 1.72-3.85), being victim of verbal aggression at work in the last 12 months (aOR 22.52, 95% CI 10.97-46.20), work in the operational units of the Medical area (aOR 2.36, 95% CI 1.33-4.21) and the Territorial area (aOR 1.97, 95% CI 1.04-3.74).     Mast cells (MCs) are important component of the immune system. Their physiological function is related to multiple areas of human physiology, thus symptoms of their increased activation vary greatly from severe allergic reactions such as anaphylaxis, to chronic symptoms like depression or osteoporosis. Studies on mastocytosis revealed a subgroup of patients presenting symptoms of increased degranulation of MCs, defined as Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS). Among them patients with primary MCAS presenting clonal abnormal MCs, who do not fulfill the criteria of mastocytosis. These symptoms often overlap patients comorbidities increasing difficulty of MCAS diagnosis and treatment. The diagnosis is established based on 3 criterions 1) typical symptoms, 2) serum tryptase elevation and 3) response to anti-mediator treatment. MCAS diagnosis is important especially in patients with anaphylaxis, osteoporosis who require epinephrine emergency kit and insect venom immunotherapy. The article describes genetic mechanisms, typical symptoms, criteria and diagnose implications of MCAS. The emphasis is put on practical guidance with the aim to improve patient care by practicing physicians.OBJECTIVE We carried out a systematic review and meta-analysis of epidemiologic studies on the association between occupational exposure to glyphosate and risk of non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) and multiple myeloma (MM). METHODS We conducted a systematic search of the literature, and identified 18 relevant publications, from which we extracted results from seven non-overlapping studies of NHL and three of MM. There was indication of publication bias for studies on NHL. CONCLUSIONS Our meta-analysis provided no overall evidence of an increased risk for both NHL and MM in subjects occupationally exposed to glyphosate. In secondary analyses we detected a small increase in risk for the category with highest level of exposure as well as for DLBCL. The evidence of publication bias suggests caution in the interpretation of the results.BACKGROUND The nasal carriage rate of Staphylococcus aureus in healthcare workers (HCWs) is higher than the general population. Their hands serve as vectors for transmitting S.aureus colonized in the nose to patients. OBJECTIVES To determine the rate of nasal S.aureus carriage and methicillin resistance in HCWs and to evaluate the relationship between carriage and personal risk factors and hand hygiene behaviors. METHODS The questionnaire included questions about sociodemographic characteristics, occupational and personal risk factors for S.aureus carriage, the "Hand Hygiene Belief Scale (HHBS)," and "Hand Hygiene Practices Inventory (HHPI)". Nasal culture was taken from all participants. Presence of S.aureus, methicillin and mupirocin resistance were investigated in samples. RESULTS The study was carried out with 269 HCWs. The prevalence of S.aureus carriage was 20.1% (n54). Among 54 S.aureus carriers, only one person had MRSA (0.37%). All S.aureus isolates were susceptible to mupirocin. S.aureus carriage was found to be significantly lower in the smoker group (p0.015) and in the personnel wearing gloves during the procedures of each patient (p0.002). S.aureus culture positivity was found to decrease significantly with increasing handwashing frequency (p0.003). The mean HHPI score was higher in women (p0.001). The mean HHPI score was lower in the group with nasal carriers than in non-carriers (p0.176). CONCLUSION The knowledge of hand hygiene practices, high frequency of handwashing, and wearing different gloves during the procedure of each patient decrease S.aureus nasal carriage in HCWs. OBJECTIVES To assess the prevalence of workplace violence. METHODS We performed a multicenter cross-sectional study using an anonymous questionnaire submitted to doctors from Northern Italy. The survey investigates socio-demographic information, the number of years of work in the health sector and the physical and verbal aggressions that occurred in the workplace in the last 12 months. RESULTS The sample consists of 4545 healthcare workers, of whom 2603 (57.27%) are females. The mean age of the sample is 49.79 years (SD ± 12.63). The risk of being victim of physical aggression at work in the last 12 months is significantly associated with the following independent variables male gender (aOR 2.09, 95% CI 1.51-2.88), work in the public sector (aOR 2.57, 95% CI 1.72-3.85), being victim of verbal aggression at work in the last 12 months (aOR 22.52, 95% CI 10.97-46.20), work in the operational units of the Medical area (aOR 2.36, 95% CI 1.33-4.21) and the Territorial area (aOR 1.97, 95% CI 1.04-3.74). DISCUSSION The prevalence of violent behaviour is difficult to assess, because violent incidents are underreported or unreported.   • In cases of brain disease such as temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE), damage may lead to functional reorganization and a shift in language dominance to homolog regions in the other hemisphere. If the effects of TLE on language dominance are hemisphere-focused, then brain regions and connections involved in word reading should be less left-lateralized in left temporal lobe epilepsy (lTLE) than right temporal lobe epilepsy (rTLE) or healthy controls, and the opposite effect should be observed in patients with rTLE. In our study, functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) showed that patients with rTLE had more strongly lateralized left hemisphere (LH) activation than patients with lTLE and healthy controls in language-related brain regions (pars opercularis and fusiform gyrus (FuG)). Corresponding with this difference, diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) found differences in connectivity indicative of patients with lTLE having greater tract integrity than patients with rTLE in the right hemisphere (RH) uncinate fasciculus (UF), inferior longitudinal fasciculus (ILF), and inferior fronto-occipital fasciculus (IFOF) using the network-based statistic analysis method. The UF, ILF, and IFOF tract integrity have previously been associated with lexical (whole-word) processing abilities. Multivariate distance matrix regression provided converging evidence for regions of the IFOF having different connectivity patterns between groups with lTLE and rTLE. This research demonstrates language lateralization differences between patient groups with lTLE and rTLE, and corresponding differences in the connectivity strength of the ILF, IFOF, and UF. This research provides a novel approach to measuring lateralization of language in general, and the fMRI and DTI findings were integral for guiding the neurosurgeons performing the TLE resections. This approach should inform future studies of language lateralization and language reorganization in patients such as those with TLE.

The voxels were placed on the bilateral dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC), dorsomedial prefrontal cortex (DMPFC), anterior cingulate cortex (ACC), and thalamus. Attention and inhibitory control, as well as general intelligence status, were investigated using the Integrated Visual and Auditory Continuous Performance Test (IVA-CPT) and the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale (WAIS), respectively, in patients with PNES and IGE, as well as healthy volunteers.

    The 1H-MRS showed a decreased ratio of NAA/Cr in the right and left thalamus, right DMPFC, and right ACC in patients with IGE and PNES. Furthermore, a decrease of the NAA/Cr ratio in the left DMPFC and an increase of NAA/Cr ratio in the right DLPFC were observed in patients with PNES compared with the controls. The patient groups had a decreased ratio of Cho/Cr in right ACC compared with the healthy subjects.     The objective of the study was to investigate the effects of slow repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) on patients with refractory juvenile myoclonic epilepsy (JME).

    One thousand pulses with the intensity of 120% active motor threshold (AMT) at 0.2 Hz frequency were applied on 5 consecutive days in 10 patients with refractory JME. Sham rTMS was performed after 3 months. Electroencephalography (EEG) examinations were performed before rTMS, on the 5th day, and 1, 2, 4, and 8 weeks after rTMS. Resting motor threshold (RMT), AMT, and cortical silent periods (CSPs) were recorded before the application and at the end of day 5. The changes in the quality of life were evaluated using the Quality of Life in Epilepsy Inventory (QOLIE-31).

    No adverse effects were observed. The number of seizures decreased by 29-50%, and interictal discharge durations decreased 2 weeks after the real rTMS. No significant difference was observed between the AMT and RMT values recorded before and after the stimulations. Statistically significant increases in CSP duration and quality of life scores were found following real rTMS. Repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation may be considered as a safe treatment option in refractory JME.

    Epilepsy is the most common noninfectious neurologic disease in Nigeria and other developing African countries. Epilepsy remains a stigmatized disease.   • Fluoxetine is among the most prescribed antidepressant drugs worldwide. Nevertheless, limited information is known about its definitive mechanism. Although in vivo examinations performed directly in related brain structures can provide more realistic, and therefore more insightful, knowledge regarding the mechanisms and efficacy of this drug, only a few techniques are applicable for in vivo monitoring of metabolic alterations in the brain following an inducement. Among them, solid phase microextraction (SPME) and microdialysis (MD) have emerged as ideal in vivo tools for extraction of information from biosystems. In this investigation, we scrutinized the capabilities of SPME and MD to detect ongoing changes in the brain following acute fluoxetine administration. Sequential in vivo samples were collected simultaneously from male rats' hippocampi using SPME and MD before drug administration in order to establish a baseline; then samples were collected again following fluoxetine administration for an investigation of small molecule alterations. Our results indicate that MD provides more comprehensive information for polar compounds, while SPME provides superior information with respect to lipids and other medium level polar molecules. Interestingly, in the lipidomic investigation, all dysregulated features were found to be membrane lipids and associated compounds. Moreover, in the metabolomic investigations, dysregulation of hippocampal metabolite levels associated with fatty acid transportation and purine metabolisms were among the most notable findings. Overall, our evaluation of the obtained data corroborates that, when used in tandem, SPME and MD are capable of providing comprehensive information regarding the effect of fluoxetine in targeted brain structures and further elucidating this drug's mechanisms of action in the brain.A new cobalt metal-organic framework (2D-Co-MOF) based on well-defined layered double cores that are strongly connected by intermolecular bonds has been developed. Its 3D structure is held together by π-π stacking interactions between the labile pyridine ligands of the nanosheets. In aqueous solution, the axial pyridine ligands are exchanged by water molecules, producing a delamination of the material, where the individual double nanosheets preserve their structure. The original 3D layered structure can be restored by a solvothermal process with pyridine, so that the material shows a "memory effect" during the delamination-pillarization process. Electrochemical activation of a 2D-Co-MOF@Nafion-modified graphite electrode in aqueous solution improves the ionic migration and electron transfer across the film and promotes the formation of the electrocatalytically active cobalt species for the oxygen evolution reaction (OER). The so-activated 2D-Co-MOF@Nafion composite exhibits an outstanding electrocatalytic performance for the OER at neutral pH, with a TOF value (0.034 s-1 at an overpotential of 400 mV) and robustness superior to those reported for similar electrocatalysts under similar conditions. The particular topology of the delaminated nanosheets, with quite distant cobalt centers, precludes the direct coupling between the electrocatalytically active centers of the same sheet. The method is based on the redox reaction between Cr(VI) and I- that occurs when an aqueous wastewater solution containing Cr(VI) and I- is frozen, producing I2 and allowing for the effective removal of Cr. The redox reaction occurs primarily because of the accumulation of Cr(VI), I-, and protons in the ice grain boundaries formed during freezing (i.e., the freeze concentration effect). This effect was verified by confocal Raman spectroscopy and the experiments varying I- concentration and pH. The reduction of Cr(VI) (20 μM) was near complete after freezing at I- concentrations ≥ 100 μM, pH ≤ 3.0, and temperatures ≤ -10 °C. The freezing method (liquid cooling vs air cooling) had little effect on the final Cr(VI) reduction efficiency but had a significant effect on the Cr(VI) reduction rate. The freezing method was also tested with Cr(VI)-contaminated electroplating wastewater samples, and simultaneous Cr(VI) reduction and I2 production proceeded rapidly in a frozen solution but was not observed in an aqueous solution.

    Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the fifth most common cancer. Since changes in liver metabolism contribute to liver disease development, it is necessary to build a metabolism-related prognostic model for HCC.

    We constructed a metabolism-related-gene (MRG) signature comprising nine genes, which segregated HCC patients into high- and low-risk groups.

    The survival rate (overall survival OS; relapse-free survival; and progression-free survival) of patients in the low-risk group of The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) cohort was significantly higher than that of patients in the high-risk group. The OS prognostic signature was validated in the International Cancer Genome Consortium independent cohort. The corresponding receiver operating characteristic curves of the model indicated that the signature had good diagnostic efficiency, in terms of improving OS over 1, 3, and 5 years. Music may make an environment more pleasant and enhance the relaxation effect of outdoor recreational activities. This study investigated the effect of music on the evaluation of urban built and urban natural environments. The participants (N = 94) were asked to evaluate five environments in terms of spatio-cognitive and emotional dimensions while listening to music. Two types of music were selected music with a fast tempo and music with a slow tempo. In contrast with a previous study by Yamasaki, Yamada & Laukka (2015), our experiment revealed that there was only a slight and not significant influence of music on the evaluation of the environment. The effect of music was mediated by the liking of music, but only in the dimensions of Pleasant and Mystery. The environmental features of the evaluated locations had a stronger effect than music on the evaluation of the environments. Environments with natural elements were perceived as more pleasant, interesting, coherent, and mysterious than urban built environments regardless of the music.     Transversus abdominis plane (TAP) blocks using liposomal bupivacaine can reduce postoperative pain and opioid consumption after surgery. The impact of timing of administration of such blocks has not been determined.

    A retrospective cohort study of all adult patients that underwent colorectal procedures between January 2013 and October 2015 and received TAP blocks with liposomal bupivacaine at our institution was conducted. The primary outcomes were postoperative pain scores and opioid consumption. Secondary outcomes included postoperative use of non-opioid analgesics as well as total hospital cost of admission and postoperative hospital length of stay.

    A total of 287 patients were identified and included in the analysis. A total of 71 patients received blocks prior to induction of general anesthesia (pre-ind), 85 patients received blocks after induction of general anesthesia but prior to surgical incision (post-ind) and 131 patients received blocks after completion of surgery (post-op). No significant differences were observed in the postoperative pain scores (either in the first 4 hours or for the entire duration of hospital stay) or opioid consumption between the pre-ind and the post-ind groups. More ketorolac was used in the post-op group compared to the pre-ind group (or= 3.36, 95% CI (1.08, 10.43); p=0.03).

    Our findings suggest that there seems to be no difference if tap blocks with liposomal bupivacaine are performed before or after induction of anesthesia. Patient preference as well as operating room efficiency should be considered when deciding on the timing of these blocks.

    An institutional-based cross-sectional study was conducted in the North Shoa Zone from May 5, 2020, to June 5/2020. A pre-tested and semi-structured questionnaire was used to collect data. The study participants were selected by simple random sampling technique. The data were entered into the Epi-data and exported to SPSS for cleaning and analysis. Bivariable and multivariable logistic regressions were used to identify the factors associated with the COVID-19 preparedness and response.

    A total of 410 (97%) patients were responded to face to face interview administered questionnaire. Nearly two-thirds of the respondents had good knowledge, 54% were well prepared, and 63% had a good response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
