A recently developed model chemistry (jun-Cheap) has been slightly modified and proposed as an effective, reliable, and parameter-free scheme for the computation of accurate reaction rates with special reference to astrochemical and atmospheric processes. Benchmarks with different sets of state-of-the-art energy barriers spanning a wide range of values show that, in the absence of strong multireference contributions, the proposed model outperforms the most well-known model chemistries, reaching a subchemical accuracy without any empirical parameter and with affordable computer times. Some test cases show that geometries, energy barriers, zero point energies, and thermal contributions computed at this level can be used in the framework of the master equation approach based on the ab initio transition-state theory for obtaining accurate reaction rates.Analytic derivative methods in quantum chemistry are powerful tools for the calculation of molecular properties and simulation of chemical systems. A necessary consequence of this process is the accumulation of missing-linker defects along the diffusion trajectories. Using fluorescence intensity and lifetime imaging microscopy, we found a gradient of missing-linker defects from the crystal surface to the interior, consistent with the spatial progression of PSE. Our success in incorporating bulky functional groups via PSE extends the scope of MOFs that can be used to host sizable, sophisticated guest species, including large catalysts or biomolecules, which were previously deemed only incorporable into MOFs of very large windows.A gold-doped zinc oxide (Au-ZnO)/exfoliated tungsten diselenide (exfoliated WSe2) nanocomposite-based gas sensor toward benzene with high sensing properties was demonstrated. The properties of Au-ZnO/exfoliated WSe2 nanoheterostructures constructed by self-assembly technology have been confirmed via a series of characterization methods. The benzene-sensing performances of sensors were tested at 25 °C. Compared with Au-ZnO, WSe2, and their composites, the Au-ZnO/exfoliated WSe2 sensor has a significant performance improvement, including a higher response and linear fit degree, better selectivity and repeatability, and faster detection rate. The significantly enhanced sensing properties of the Au-ZnO/exfoliated WSe2 sensor can be ascribed to the doping of Au nanoparticles, the increase in the specific surface area and adsorption sites of NSs after exfoliation, and the cooperative interface combination of the ZnO/WSe2 heterojunction. In this approach, axially chiral styrenes were generated through two independent iridium-catalytic cycles iridium-catalyzed asymmetric allylic substitution and in situ isomerization via stereospecific 1,3-hydride transfer catalyzed by the same iridium catalyst. Both experimental and computational studies demonstrated that the isomerization proceeded by iridium-catalyzed benzylic C-H bond oxidative addition, followed by terminal C-H reductive elimination.

Older adults display wide individual variability (heterogeneity) in the effects of resistance exercise training on muscle strength. https://www.selleckchem.com/products/d-1553.html The mechanisms driving this heterogeneity are poorly understood. In 24 older adults (72.3±6.8years), we measured the following parameters before and after 12weeks of progressive resistance exercise training i) isometric leg extensor strength; ii) isokinetic (60°/sec) leg extensor strength; iii) voluntary (neural) activation by comparing voluntary and electrically-stimulated muscle forces (i.e., superimposed doublet technique); iv) muscle hypertrophy via dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry (DXA) estim contraction, the strength response was moderately explained by between-subject variance in the resistance-exercise induced changes in muscle contractility.
Physical activity prevents cancer and improves cancer outcomes. Insulin-like growth factor (IGF) signaling plays a significant role in cancer development and progression. However, there are heterogeneous results regarding physical activity and its effect on the IGF system. This study meta-analyzed the results of randomized clinical trials which evaluated the effects of physical exercise on the changes of physiologic markers to identify the role of physical exercise in modulating the IGF system in women with breast cancer.
PubMed, Embase, CENTRAL, and SPORTDiscus were systematically searched until October 2020. Eligibility criteria included randomized controlled trials that evaluated the effects of physical exercise on the insulin-like growth factor system among women with breast cancer.
Twelve randomized controlled studies involving 736 participants were analyzed. Physical exercise significantly reduced levels of serum insulin (MD -1.24μIU/mL, 95% CI -2.12 to -0.36, p=0.006), IGF-II (MD -54.21ng/mL, 95% CI -61.41 to -47.00, p<0.00001), IGFBP-1 (MD -2.90ng/mL, 95% CI -3.91 to -1.90, p<0.00001), and HOMA score (MD -0.47, 95% CI -0.87 to -0.06, p=0.02). In addition, serum glucose (MD -0.71mg/dL, 95% CI -2.57 to 1.15; p=0.45) and IGF-I levels (MD -5.23ng/mL, 95% CI -13.00 to 2.53; p=0.19) were decreased after physical exercise although they did not show a statistical significance.

Though conventional methods of treatment are available, multidrug resistance and side effects are predominant. Physicians and scientists are working side by side to develop an effective medicament, which is safe and cost-effective. However, most failures are obtained when focused on the clinical perspective. This review mainly brings out the correlation between the curcumin and its use for the mitigation of colorectal cancer, the use of curcumin as a chemotherapeutic agent, chemosensitizer, and in a combination and synergistic approach. The pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics properties of curcumin and its formulation approach helps in giving an idea to develop new approaches for the treatment of colorectal cancer using curcumin.The bio-based platform chemicals 2,3-butanediol (BDO) and acetoin have various applications in chemical, cosmetics, food, agriculture, and pharmaceutical industries, whereas the derivatives of BDO could be used as fuel additives, polymer and synthetic rubber production. This review summarizes the novel technological developments in adapting genetic and metabolic engineering strategies for selection and construction of chassis strains for BDO and acetoin production. The valorization of renewable feedstocks and bioprocess development for the upstream and downstream stages of bio-based BDO and acetoin production are discussed. The techno-economic aspects evaluating the viability and industrial potential of bio-based BDO production are presented. The commercialization of bio-based BDO and acetoin production requires the utilization of crude renewable resources, the chassis strains with high fermentation production efficiencies and development of sustainable purification or conversion technologies.
Complex aortic aneurysms (juxtarenal j-AAA, pararenal p-AAAs, thoracoabdominal TAAAs) are treated with increasing frequency through fenestrated and branched endovascular repair (F/B-EVAR), however the outcome of these procedures is usually reported separately by single experiences and wider overviews are not frequent. The aim of this study was therefore to report an Italian experience analyzing the results obtained in 4 academic centers in order to evaluate predictors of outcome.
Between 2008 and 2019, all consecutive patients undergoing F/B-EVAR in 4 Italian university centers were prospectively recorded and retrospectively analyzed. Preoperative comorbidities and postoperative complications were classified according with the SVS-reporting standard. Postoperative complications and 30-day / in-hospital mortality were assessed as early outcomes. Survival, freedom from reinterventions (FFRs) and target visceral vessels (TVVs) patency were assessed as follow-up outcomes by Kaplan-Meier analysis. Risk factorsmortality during follow up.

Particularly in social interactions, social information can reduce uncertainty about the relative quality of conspecifics, thus optimising decisions on with whom and how to interact. One important resource for individuals living in social environments is the production of information by signalling conspecifics. Recent research has suggested that some species of parrots engage in affiliative contact call matching and that these interactions may be available to conspecific unintended receivers. However, it remains unclear what information third parties may gain from contact call matching and how it can be utilised during flock decisions. Here, using a combined choice and playback experiment, we investigated the flock fusion choices and vocal behaviour of a social parrot species, the orange-fronted conure (Eupsittula canicularis), to a contact call matching interaction between two individuals of different sexes and with different vocal roles. Our results revealed that orange-fronted conures chose to follow vocal leaders more often than vocal followers during fusions. Furthermore, flocks responded with higher call rates and matched the stimulus calls closer when subsequently choosing a vocal leader. Interestingly, orange-fronted conures also showed higher contact call rates and closer matches when choosing males over females. These results suggest that paying attention to conspecific contact call interactions can provide individuals with social information that can be utilised during fission and fusion events, significantly influencing the social dynamics of orange-fronted conures.
To assess the feasibility of a problem-solving skills training intervention in improving psychological outcomes in mothers of infants with sickle cell disease (SCD).
This parallel randomized controlled trial recruited 64 babies with SCD, 6 to 12 months of age, and their mothers. Baseline measurements assessed mothers' coping and problem-solving skills, depression, and parental stress before random assignment to intervention or control groups (n = 32 each). Problem-solving skills intervention was delivered through 6 monthly sessions, when babies attended for routine penicillin prophylaxis. All measurements were repeated for both groups at the end of the intervention period. Intention to treat analysis used repeated measures mixed models with the restricted estimation maximum likelihood approach.
The problem-solving intervention had no significant effect on mothers' problem-solving skills (adjusted treatment effect -1.69 points (95% CI-5.62 to 2.25)), coping behaviours (adjusted treatment effect 0.65 points (95% CI- -7.13 to 8.41)) or depressive symptoms (adjusted treatment effect -0.41 (95% CI -6.00 to 5.19)). It reduced mothers' level of difficulty in managing stressful events by 9.5 points (95% CI (-16.86 to -2.16); effect size 0.21 SD). In the subgroup of mothers at risk of depression (n = 31 at baseline), the intervention reduced depression scores with treatment effect of 10.4 points (95%CI -18.83 to -1.88; effect size 0.67 SD).

The association between girl child marriage and education is widely acknowledged; however, there is no large body of demographic studies from Zimbabwe that have addressed this aspect. This study aimed to examine the extent to which child marriage affects one academic milestone, i.e. completion of the Ordinary Level, the first cycle of high school, which is also the most critical indicator of educational achievement in Zimbabwe.

Recent research has suggested that some species of parrots engage in affiliative contact call matching and that these interactions may be available to conspecific unintended receivers. However, it remains unclear what information third parties may gain from contact call matching and how it can be utilised during flock decisions. Here, using a combined choice and playback experiment, we investigated the flock fusion choices and vocal behaviour of a social parrot species, the orange-fronted conure (Eupsittula canicularis), to a contact call matching interaction between two individuals of different sexes and with different vocal roles. Our results revealed that orange-fronted conures chose to follow vocal leaders more often than vocal followers during fusions. Furthermore, flocks responded with higher call rates and matched the stimulus calls closer when subsequently choosing a vocal leader. Interestingly, orange-fronted conures also showed higher contact call rates and closer matches when choosing males over females. These results suggest that paying attention to conspecific contact call interactions can provide individuals with social information that can be utilised during fission and fusion events, significantly influencing the social dynamics of orange-fronted conures. To assess the feasibility of a problem-solving skills training intervention in improving psychological outcomes in mothers of infants with sickle cell disease (SCD). This parallel randomized controlled trial recruited 64 babies with SCD, 6 to 12 months of age, and their mothers. Baseline measurements assessed mothers' coping and problem-solving skills, depression, and parental stress before random assignment to intervention or control groups (n = 32 each). Problem-solving skills intervention was delivered through 6 monthly sessions, when babies attended for routine penicillin prophylaxis. All measurements were repeated for both groups at the end of the intervention period. Intention to treat analysis used repeated measures mixed models with the restricted estimation maximum likelihood approach. The problem-solving intervention had no significant effect on mothers' problem-solving skills (adjusted treatment effect -1.69 points (95% CI-5.62 to 2.25)), coping behaviours (adjusted treatment effect 0.65 points (95% CI- -7.13 to 8.41)) or depressive symptoms (adjusted treatment effect -0.41 (95% CI -6.00 to 5.19)). It reduced mothers' level of difficulty in managing stressful events by 9.5 points (95% CI (-16.86 to -2.16); effect size 0.21 SD). In the subgroup of mothers at risk of depression (n = 31 at baseline), the intervention reduced depression scores with treatment effect of 10.4 points (95%CI -18.83 to -1.88; effect size 0.67 SD). Data from 1,005 patients with AS were analyzed with a median follow-up period of 14 months. Seventy-six percent of patients were first-line biologic users. Discontinuation of TNFis occurred in 24.2% (switching in 9.6%) of patients during follow-up. An estimate of the drug failure showed that the adjusted hazard ratio (HR) for golimumab compared to etanercept was 0.441 (95% confidence interval 0.277-0.703, p less then 0.001). Reasons for discontinuation included lack of efficacy (32.6%), adverse events (23.6%), clinical improvement (11.2%), and others (32.6%). Predictors of discontinuation using a multivariate analysis were a shorter disease duration (HR 0.973, p = 0.044) and being negative for HLA-B27 (HR 1.623, p = 0.0093). Methods Patients without chemotherapy were selected for the identification of hypoxia-related genes (HRGs). A total of six independent datasets that included 1,877 CRC patients were divided into a training cohort and two validation cohorts. Functional annotation and analysis were performed to reveal relevant mechanism. Results A 12-gene signature was derived, which was prognostic for stage II/III CRC patients in two validation cohorts [TCGA, n = 509, hazard ratio (HR) = 2.14, 95% confidence interval (CI) = 1.18 - 3.89, P = 0.01; metavalidation, n = 590, HR = 2.46, 95% CI = 1.59 - 3.81, P less then 0.001]. High hypoxic risk was correlated with worse prognosis in CRC patients without adjuvant chemotherapy (HR = 5.1, 95% CI = 2.51 - 10.35, P less then 0.001). After integration with clinical characteristics, hypoxia-related gene signature (HRGS) remained as an independent prognostic factor in multivariate analysis. Furthermore, enrichment analysis found that antitumor immune response was suppressed in the high hypoxic group. We have measured the gene expression levels of 12 immune and inflammatory markers (CD14, IL-6, TNFα, HVEM, B7.1, HIF-1α, Siglec-10, IRAK-M, CD163, B7H5, PD-L1, and Galectin-9) in DBS samples by reverse transcription of total RNA and RT-qPCR. Principal component analysis, Kruskal-Wallis test, and Mann-Whitney test were performed in order to study group differences. HIV+ children presented significantly higher levels of seven biomarkers (CD14, IL-6 HVEM, B7.1, Siglec-10, HIF-1α, and CD163) than the UU group. In HEU, we found seven biomarkers significantly elevated (CD14, IL-6, HVEM, B7.1, Siglec-10, HIF-1α, and IRAK-M) vs. UU. Solution phase room-temperature phosphorescence (RTP) from organic phosphors is seldom realized. Herein we report one of the highest quantum yield solution state RTP (ca. 41.8 %) in water, from a structurally simple phthalimide phosphor, by employing an organic-inorganic supramolecular scaffolding strategy. We further use these supramolecular hybrid phosphors as a light-harvesting scaffold to achieve delayed fluorescence from orthogonally anchored Sulforhodamine acceptor dyes via an efficient triplet to singlet Förster resonance energy transfer (TS-FRET), which is rarely achieved in solution. Electrostatic cross-linking of the inorganic scaffold at higher concentrations further facilitates the formation of self-standing hydrogels with efficient RTP and energy-transfer mediated long-lived fluorescence.
Radiomics provides a framework for automated extraction of high-dimensional feature sets from medical images. We aimed to determine radiomics signature correlates of admission clinical severity and medium-term outcome from intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) lesions on baseline head computed tomography (CT).
We used the ATACH-2 (Antihypertensive Treatment of Acute Cerebral Hemorrhage II) trial dataset. Patients included in this analysis (n=895) were randomly allocated to discovery (n=448) and independent validation (n=447) cohorts. We extracted 1130 radiomics features from hematoma lesions on baseline noncontrast head CT scans and generated radiomics signatures associated with admission Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS), admission National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS), and 3-month modified Rankin Scale (mRS) scores. Spearman's correlation between radiomics signatures and corresponding target variables was compared with hematoma volume.
In the discovery cohort, radiomics signatures, compared to ICH volumey the enrollment criteria of the ATACH-2 trial, we showed that radiomics features quantifying hematoma texture, density, and shape on baseline CT can provide imaging correlates for clinical presentation and 3-month outcome. These findings couldtrigger a paradigm shift where imaging biomarkers may improve current modelsfor prognostication, risk-stratification, and treatment triage of ICH patients.
MORC2 mutations have been described as a rare cause of axonal Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease (CMT2Z). The aim of this work was to determine the frequency and distribution of these mutations throughout Spain, toprovide a comprehensivephenotypical description and, if possible, to establish a genotype-phenotype correlation.
Retrospectively, data on patients diagnosed with CMT2Z in Spain werecollected and clinical, electrophysiological and muscle imaging information were analysed.
Fifteen patients with CMT2Z were identified throughout Spain, seven of them belonging to a single kindred, whilst the rest were sporadic. The most common mutation was p.R252W, and four new mutations were identified. Eleven patients were categorized as having a scapuloperoneal phenotype, with asymmetric muscle weakness, early proximal upper limb involvement and frequent spontaneous muscular activity with distal sensory impairment and pes cavus, whilst two presented with a more classic length dependent sensory motor phenotype. This distinction was corroborated by the distribution of musclefatty infiltration in muscle imaging. Two other patients were classified as having a neurodevelopmental phenotype consisting in congenital or early onset, delay in motor milestones, and global developmental delay in one of them. Nerve conduction studies revealed an unequivocally axonal neuropathy with frequent spontaneous activity, and serum creatine kinase levels were increased in 50% of the patients.

Solution phase room-temperature phosphorescence (RTP) from organic phosphors is seldom realized. Herein we report one of the highest quantum yield solution state RTP (ca. 41.8 %) in water, from a structurally simple phthalimide phosphor, by employing an organic-inorganic supramolecular scaffolding strategy. We further use these supramolecular hybrid phosphors as a light-harvesting scaffold to achieve delayed fluorescence from orthogonally anchored Sulforhodamine acceptor dyes via an efficient triplet to singlet Förster resonance energy transfer (TS-FRET), which is rarely achieved in solution. The internal spermatic vessels and the vas deferens together with other associated vessels within the cremaster were separately enclosed by two thin and translucent sheaths, the internal spermatic fascia and the vas deferens fascia. Validity groups were determined via independent criterion PVT performance, and consisted of 103 participants with valid and 25 with invalid neurocognitive performance. FC and RD were not significantly correlated (r = .154), yet both differed between validity groups (ηp2 = .14-.19). Previously established FC (≤14) and RD (≤4) cutoffs evidenced 32-40% sensitivity/90-98% specificity, though receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analyses indicated a more liberal FC cutoff (≤15) was optimal. Logistic regression models utilizing both embedded PVTs indicated that FC did not significantly improve classification accuracy above and beyond RD. The control group comprised 11 healthy adults (five men, six women) with a mean age of 60.09 years (SD = 11.57). Method Using a prospective, mixed within- and between-groups, repeated measures design with 10 female competitive swimmers and 13 female nonswimmers, FVC was measured and compared between the two groups. Further FVC assessment was completed with the swimmers to identify FVC differences between a practice suit and a compression racing suit. Results FVC in swimmers was significantly larger than FVC in nonswimmers by over 1 L. The predicted FVC volumes were significantly smaller than the actual FVC volumes for swimmers. No significant differences were identified between the practice swimsuit and the compression race suit or between the predicted and actual FVCs for the nonswimmer group.

To decrease PD-L1 expression and increase the penetration efficacy of solid tumors, we synthesized a novel tumor-microenvironment-sensitive delivery polymer by conjugating hyaluronic acid (HA) to polyethyleneimine (PEI), with a matrix metalloproteinase-2 (MMP-2)-sensitive peptide acting as the linker (HA-P-PEI), for use in delivery of PD-L1-siRNA. Concurrent synthesis of a linker-less HA-PEI compound allowed confirmation that negatively charged siRNA can be complexed onto the positively charged HA-PEI and HA-P-PEI compounds to form nanoparticles with the same particle size and uniform distribution with serum stability. We found that the size of the HA-P-PEI/siRNA nanoparticles decreased to less then 10 nm upon addition of MMP-2, and that H1975 cells overexpressing CD44, PD-L1, and MMP-2 aided confirmation of the delivery efficacy of the HA-P-PEI/siRNA nanocomplexes. Additionally, the use of HA-P-PEI caused less cytotoxicity than PEI alone, demonstrating its high cellular uptake. Moreover, pretreatment with MMP-2 increased nanocomplex tumor permeability, and western blot showed that HA-P-PEI/PD-L1-siRNA efficiently downregulated the PD-L1 expression in H1975 cells. We found that the size of the HA-P-PEI/siRNA nanoparticles decreased to less then 10 nm upon addition of MMP-2, and that H1975 cells overexpressing CD44, PD-L1, and MMP-2 aided confirmation of the delivery efficacy of the HA-P-PEI/siRNA nanocomplexes. Additionally, the use of HA-P-PEI caused less cytotoxicity than PEI alone, demonstrating its high cellular uptake. Creatinine-to-cystatin C ratio has attracted substantial interest as a measure to reflect health well-being, but no studies have assessed whether its longitudinal changes are associated with risk of diabetes. We aimed to examine their association, along with the exploration of the relationship of such changes with cardiometabolic control in middle-aged and older adults.
We included a total of 3278 participants aged ≥45 years who provided measurements of creatinine and cystatin C at baseline and 4 years later from the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study. After 4-year follow-up, 272 participants developed diabetes. Larger increases in creatinine-to-cystatin C ratio were associated with lower risk of diabetes. The multivariable-adjusted OR for diabetes per 1 SD increase in creatinine-to-cystatin C ratio was 0.84 (95% CI 0.72-0.98). Compared with participants showing decreases in creatinine-to-cystatin C ratio but increases in body mass index (BMI), those experiencing increases in creatinine-to-cystatin C ratio and decreases in BMI had the largest risk reduction (multivariable-adjusted OR 0.52). Changes in creatinine-to-cystatin C ratio showed inverse correlation with blood pressure, HbA1c, lipids, and C-reactive protein at the 4-year follow-up. Moreover, they also correlated inversely with changes in HbA1c and C-reactive protein (all P ≤ 0.004).

After incubation at 37℃ and shaking for 60 min, the solutions were diluted and centrifuged, and the drug concentrations were quantified with validated analytical assays. The binding assays were performed in threefold. The mean relative binding (MRB) at each pH level was calculated, with a MRB >20% for at least one pH level to be considered as relevant binding. Fourteen and 23 potentially new binding interactions were identified with sevelamer and polystyrene sulfonate, respectively. These potentially new binding interactions have to be studied in vivo to assess their clinical relevance.

Osteoarthritis generates substantial health and socioeconomic burden, which is particularly marked in marginalized groups. It is imperative that practitioners have ready access to summaries of evidence-based interventions for osteoarthritis that incorporate equity considerations. Summaries of systematic reviews can provide this. The present study surveyed experts to prioritize a selection ofinterventions, from which equity focused summaries will be generated. Specifically, the prioritized interventions will be developed into Cochrane Evidence4Equity (E4E) summaries.
Twenty-seven systematic reviews of OA interventions were found. From these, twenty-nine non-surgical treatments for osteoarthritis were identified, based on statistically significant findings for desired outcome variables or adverse events. Key findings from these studies were summarised and provided to 9 experts in the field of osteoarthritis.. Expert participants were asked to rate interventions based on feasibility, health system effects, ury generated information that will be used to direct and support knowledge translation efforts.

With the strike of Covid-19, an unprecedented rapid shift to remote learning happened worldwide with a paradigm shift to online learning from an institutional adjuvant luxury package and learner choice into a forced solo choice. This raises the question of quality assurance. While some groups have already established standards for online courses, teaching and programs yet very little information is included on methodology of their development and very little emphasis is placed on the online learning experience. Nevertheless, no work has been done specifically for medical education institutions.
To develop a set of descriptors for best practice in online learning in medical education utilizing existing expertise and needs.
This work utilizes a qualitative multistage approach to identify the descriptors of best practice in online learning starting with a question guided focus group, thematic analysis, Delphi technique and an expert consensus session done simultaneously for triangulation. This was done invience and their development and redesign is situational and needs to be enhanced methodologically in axes that are pertaining to the needs of the education community. Taking such axes into consideration by educators and institutions will lead to planning and implementing successful online learning activities, while taking them into consideration by the evaluators will help them conduct comprehensive audits and provide stakeholders with highly informative evaluation reports.
Chemotherapy-induced side effects may have a negative effect on nutrition intake, thus increasing the risk of malnutrition and consequently, other serious complications for patients with cancer. The prevalence of malnutrition is common among patients with colorectal cancer. Nurse-led empowering education may have a positive effect on self-care activity in this patient group. Therefore, our purpose is to develop an empowering educational nursing intervention and test its effect on self-care activation and knowledge level among patients with colorectal cancer during chemotherapy. Secondary outcomes are quality of life and risk of malnutrition.
An interdisciplinary expert group developed a face-to-face empowering educational intervention using teach-**** method. A two-arm, single-centre, superiority trial with stratified randomisation (11) and pre-post measures will be used to assess the effect of the intervention compared to standard care. Patients (N = 40 + 40) will be recruited in one university hospital outpatient clinic in Finland. Eligibility criteria are adult patients diagnosed with colorectal cancer starting oral fluoropyrimidine or combination chemotherapy treatment. A registered nurse experienced in oncology will deliver the intervention 2 weeks after the first chemotherapy. Outcomes are measured before intervention (M0) and after a two-month follow-up period (M1).
This study will assess whether nurse-led empowering education using teach-**** method is effective on self-care activity among patients with colorectal cancer. If the intervention has a positive effect, it may be implemented into patient education in a corresponding context.

To explore the analgesic efficacy of extracorporeal shock wave (ESW) combined with percutaneous vertebroplasty (PVP) after reduction in overextension position in the treatment of osteoporotic thoracolumbar compression fractures in postmenopausal women.
The data of postmenopausal women with osteoporotic thoracolumbar compression fracture admitted in our department from January 2017 to October 2019 were analyzed retrospectively. They were divided into groups of unipedicular percutaneous kyphoplasty (U-PKP n = 21), bipedicular PKP (B-PKP n = 20), and ESW combined with PVP after reduction in overextension position (EP-PVP n = 18). The improvement of pain and vertebral height in three groups was compared.
Postoperative compression rate and Cobb angle of vertebral fractures in the three groups were all lower than those before surgery, and the differences between pre-operation and post-operation were statistically significant (P < 0.05).
