KGaA, Weinheim.Mast cells are immune sentinels and a driving force in both normal and pathological contexts of inflammation, with a prominent role in allergic hypersensitivities. Crosslinking of FcεRI by allergen-bound IgE Abs leads to mast cell degranulation, resulting in an early-phase response and release of newly synthesized pro-inflammatory mediators in the late-phase. The MAPK and NF-κB pathways are established as critical intracellular mechanisms directing mast cell-induced inflammation. Rosemary extract (RE) has been shown to modulate the MAPK and NF-κB pathways in other cellular contexts in vitro and in vivo. However, the effect of RE on mast cell activation has not been explored, and thus we aim to evaluate the potential of RE in modulating mast cell activation and FcεRI/c-kit signaling, potentially via these key pathways. Primary murine mast cells were sensitized with anti-TNP IgE and stimulated with cognate allergen (TNP-BSA) under stem cell factor (SCF) potentiation while treated with 0-25 µg/ml RE. RE treatment inhibited phosphorylation of p38 and JNK MAPKs while also impairing NF-кB transcription factor activity. Gene expression and mediator secretion analysis showed that RE treatment decreased IL-6, TNF, IL-13, CCL1, and CCL3, but major component polyphenols do not contribute to these effects. Importantly, RE treatment significantly inhibited early phase mast cell degranulation (down to 15% of control), with carnosic acid and carnosol contributing. In this study, we analysed the odontogenesis and neuronal differentiation characteristics of PDLSCs in vitro. Results showed that the calcined tooth powder (CTP) and silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) additives could induce the PDLSCs into odontogenesis differentiation; besides, the immunofluorescence staining identified that the high dosage calcined tooth powder (400 μg/mL) significantly facilitated the odontogenesis associated with BMP4 expression. While the nutritional factor (L-glutamine, NGF (nerve growth factor), bFGF (basic fibroblast growth factor), IGF-1 (insulin-like growth factor-1) and EGF (epidermal growth factor)) additives were prior to induce the PDLSCs into neuronal differentiation. https://www.selleckchem.com/products/bi-2493.html Simultaneously, PDLSCs had high proliferation ability with the different supplemented additives. TNF receptor 2 (TNFR2) antibody antagonism is emerging as an attractive immunotherapy due to its tumor microenvironment (TME) specificity. Here we show that the human TNFR2 receptor is overexpressed on both human tumor cells and on human tumor-residing Tregs, but negligibly expressed on beneficial T effectors (Teffs). Further, we found widespread, if variable, TNFR2 expression on 788 human tumor cell lines from diverse cancer tissues. These findings provided strong rationale for developing a targeted immunotherapy using a TNFR2 antibody antagonist. We designed a novel, human-directed TNFR2 antibody antagonist and tested it for function using three cell-based TME assays. The antagonist showed TME specificity by killing of TNFR2-expressing tumor cells and Tregs, but sparing Teffs, which proliferated. However, the antagonist shuffled between five isoforms, only one of which showed the desirable function. We designed and tested several new chimeric human versions of the antagonist, finding that the IgG2 isotype functioned better than the IgG1 isotype. To further improve function, we introduced targeted mutations to its amino acid sequence to stabilize the natural variability of the IgG2 isotype's hinge. Altogether, our findings suggest that optimal TNFR2 antagonists are of the human IgG2 isotype, have hinge stabilization, and have wide separation of antibody arms to bind to newly synthesized TNFR2 on rapidly growing tumor cells. Antagonistic antibodies with these characteristics, when bound to TNFR2, can form a nonsignaling cell surface dimer that functions with high TME specificity. ©2020 Society for Leukocyte Biology.

  • The oscillatory activities from the amygdala and hippocampus were analyzed during fear memory retrieval compared with neutral stages. RESULTS Consistent with previous rodent studies, our results showed that the amygdala was involved in fear memory retrieval rather than neutral memory retrieval, while the hippocampus was involved both in fear memory retrieval and neutral memory retrieval. In particular, we found that there was an enhanced synchronized activity between the amygdala and hippocampus at beta frequencies (14-30 Hz), which suggested that enhanced synchronized activity at beta frequencies between the amygdala and hippocampus play a pivotal role during retrieval of fear memory in human. CONCLUSIONS Thus, our observation that the amygdala-hippocampal system contributing to fear memory retrieval in human with frequency-depended specificity has provided new insights into the mechanism of fear and have potential clinical relevance.BACKGROUND There is wide variation in the reported size of ruptured intracranial aneurysms and methods of size estimation. There is widespread belief that small aneurysms less then  7 mm do not rupture. Therefore, we performed a systematic review and meta-analysis of the literature to determine the size of ruptured aneurysms according to aneurysm locations and methods of size estimation. METHODS We searched PubMed, Cochrane, CINAHL, and EMBASE databases using a combination of Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) terms. We included articles that reported mean aneurysm size in consecutive series of ruptured intracranial. We excluded studies limited to a specific aneurysm location or type. The random-effects model was used to calculate overall mean size and location-specific mean size. We performed meta-regression to explain observed heterogeneity and variation in reported size. RESULTS The systematic review included 36 studies and 12,609 ruptured intracranial aneurysms. Overall mean aneurysm size was 7.0 mm (95% confidence interval [CI 6.2-7.4]). Pooled mean size varied with location. Overall mean size of 2145 ruptured anterior circulation aneurysms was 6.0 mm (95% CI 5.6-6.4, residual I2 = 86%). Overall mean size of 743 ruptured posterior circulation aneurysms was 6.2 mm (95% CI 5.3-7.0, residual I2 = 93%). Meta-regression identified aneurysm location and definition of size (i.e., maximum dimension vs. aneurysm height) as significant determinants of aneurysm size reported in the studies. CONCLUSIONS The mean size of ruptured aneurysms in most studies was approximately 7 mm. The general wisdom that aneurysms of this size do not rupture is incorrect. Location and size definition were significant determinants of aneurysm size.PURPOSE Styloidectomy is the mainstream treatment for Eagle's syndrome when conservative treatment fails. However, the clinical efficacy of tonsil-sparing styloidectomy remains controversial. This study aimed to evaluate postoperative pain after tonsil-sparing styloidectomy in patients with Eagle's syndrome. METHODS This retrospective study enrolled 14 patients who underwent tonsil-sparing styloidectomy (TSS group) and 22 patients who underwent traditional tonsillect-styloidectomy (TTS group). Pain was evaluated using the 11-point numeric rating scale (NRS-11) at the following time points on admission, 1 day after the operation, 3 days, postoperatively, 1 week postoperatively, 2 weeks, postoperatively, and 3 months, postoperatively. RESULTS The postoperative course was uneventful in both groups. Pain with movement was significantly reduced 3 months, postoperatively (1.28 ± 1.1), compared with the preoperative baseline level (4.78 ± 0.9) (P  less then  0.001). There was no significant difference in the rate at which pain decreased between the TSS group (n = 9/14; 64.3%) and the TTS group (n = 17/22; 77.3%) (P = 0.396). One week postoperatively, resting pain in the TSS group (4.36 ± 0.7) was significantly lower than that in the TTS group (5.41 ± 0.8) (P = 0.001); pain with movement in the TSS group (5.00 ± 0.8) was significantly lower than that in the TTS group (5.86 ± 0.7) (P = 0.002). Two weeks postoperatively, resting pain in the TSS group (1.14 ± 0.4) was also significantly lower than that in the TTS group (1.73 ± 0.6) (P = 0.003). CONCLUSIONS Tonsil-sparing styloidectomy is a safe and effective modality for treating Eagle's syndrome. Although there was no significant difference in surgical risk or long-term outcomes between tonsil-sparing styloidectomy and traditional tonsillect-styloidectomy, tonsil-sparing styloidectomy can alleviate perioperative pain.BACKGROUND Unexpected facial nerve damage can occur during parotid gland tumor surgery. The most common injury site of facial nerve was the marginal mandibular branch (n = 3), followed by the buccal branch (n = 1), and the cervicofacial division (n = 1). The results will contribute to documenting the barriers and enablers to implementing best practice nutrition care for patients with HNC. METHOD Qualitative interviews were conducted with patients who had completed radiotherapy with or without (+/-) other treatment modality (surgery and/or systematic therapy) of curative intent for HNC. Patients were purposively sampled from a major tertiary referral centre in Sydney, Australia. Patients' primary caregivers were also invited to participate if both parties consented. A semi-structured interview schedule was developed to elicit information about barriers and facilitators to change and inform development of the new MOC.

  • BACKGROUND Detection of hepatitis B virus (HBV) is vital for the diagnosis of hepatitis B infection. A novel test loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) has been successfully applied to detect various pathogens. However, the accuracy of LAMP in diagnosing HBV remains unclear. Therefore, in the present study, the accuracy of LAMP for HBV detection was evaluated systematically. METHODS Embase, Cochrane Library, and PubMed databases were searched for studies using LAMP to detect HBV. Then, two researchers extracted data and assessed the quality of literature using the QUADAS-2 tool independently. I2 statistic and chi-square test were analyzed to investigate the heterogeneity, and Deek's funnel plot assessed the publication bias. The pooled sensitivity (SEN), specificity (SPE), positive LR (PLR), negative LR (NLR), diagnostic odds ratio (DOR), and 95% confidence intervals were displayed in forest plots. We calculated the area under the curve (AUC) to assess the overall efficiency of LAMP for HBV detection. RESULTS A total of nine studies with 1298 samples were finally included in this evaluation.     BACKGROUND Detection of hepatitis B virus (HBV) is vital for the diagnosis of hepatitis B infection. A novel test loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) has been successfully applied to detect various pathogens. However, the accuracy of LAMP in diagnosing HBV remains unclear. Therefore, in the present study, the accuracy of LAMP for HBV detection was evaluated systematically. METHODS Embase, Cochrane Library, and PubMed databases were searched for studies using LAMP to detect HBV. Then, two researchers extracted data and assessed the quality of literature using the QUADAS-2 tool independently. I2 statistic and chi-square test were analyzed to investigate the heterogeneity, and Deek's funnel plot assessed the publication bias. The pooled sensitivity (SEN), specificity (SPE), positive LR (PLR), negative LR (NLR), diagnostic odds ratio (DOR), and 95% confidence intervals were displayed in forest plots. We calculated the area under the curve (AUC) to assess the overall efficiency of LAMP for HBV detection. RESULTS A total of nine studies with 1298 samples were finally included in this evaluation.   • Beta-glucans are naturally occurring polysaccharides present in cell walls of fungi, yeast, bacteria, cereals, seaweed, and algae. These microbe-associated molecular patterns (MAMPs) possess immunomodulatory properties. In human, it has been suggested that NK cells can be activated by β-glucans. Here, we aimed to elucidate whether β-glucans modulate porcine NK cell responses in vitro and if so, how these effects are mediated. We investigated the effect of two β-glucans, Macrogard and Curdlan, which differ in solubility and structure. (Ala261Ala) of the ARPC1B gene that causes a similar syndrome but no thrombocytopenia. Targeted RNA studies demonstrated that the variant affects the splicing process of mRNA, resulting in a marked reduction of the levels of primary (normal) RNA transcript of the ARPC1B gene in the affected patients and likely premature termination from the abnormally spliced mRNA. In this study, we aimed to explore whether TAS could influence NLPR3 inflammasome activation in macrophages. The results showed that TAS dose-dependently suppressed the activation of caspase-1 in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-primed murine primary macrophages upon nigericin treatment, resulting in reduced mature interleukin-1β (IL-1β) release and gasdermin D (GSDMD) cleavage. However, positive effects of alcohol conversations were less likely to be reported among older respondents in Sweden. Conservative treatment has been used with moderate success, but it is unclear if surgical correction could confer additional benefits and improve patient outcomes. The purpose of this study was to report authors' experience using the lateral-rectus approach (LRA) for surgical correction of unstable pelvic fractures in two toddlers. METHODS We retrospectively analyzed the cases of two toddlers with unstable pelvic fractures who underwent surgery through the LRA between April 2016 and October 2018. Patients' characteristics, fracture type, mechanism of injury, Injury Severity Score (ISS), operative time, intra-operative blood loss, and post-operative complications were assessed. Pelvic asymmetry, degree of deformity, Cole scoring criteria and modified Barthel Index (MBI) were used to evaluate radiographic and functional outcomes. RESULTS Successful surgical treatment was performed using t, with minimal blood loss and risk of nerve injury. The study was designed to explore the association of various adiposity indices with estimated bone mineral density (BMD) and the risk of osteoporosis based on body mass index (BMI), body fat percentage (BFP), waist circumference (WC), waist to hip ratio (WHR), waist to height ratio (WHtR), and visceral fat index (VFI). Conservative treatment has been used with moderate success, but it is unclear if surgical correction could confer additional benefits and improve patient outcomes. The purpose of this study was to report authors' experience using the lateral-rectus approach (LRA) for surgical correction of unstable pelvic fractures in two toddlers. METHODS We retrospectively analyzed the cases of two toddlers with unstable pelvic fractures who underwent surgery through the LRA between April 2016 and October 2018. Patients' characteristics, fracture type, mechanism of injury, Injury Severity Score (ISS), operative time, intra-operative blood loss, and post-operative complications were assessed. Pelvic asymmetry, degree of deformity, Cole scoring criteria and modified Barthel Index (MBI) were used to evaluate radiographic and functional outcomes.   • Health-related social media use is common but few health organisations have embraced its potential for engaging stakeholders in service design and quality improvement (QI). Social media may provide new ways to engage more diverse stakeholders and conduct health design and QI activities.

    To map how social media is used by health services, providers and consumers to contribute to service design or QI activities.

    The scoping review was undertaken using the Joanna Briggs Institute methodology. An advisory committee of stakeholders provided guidance throughout the review. Inclusion criteria were studies of any health service stakeholders, in any health setting, where social media was used as a tool for communications which influenced or advocated for changes to health service design or delivery. A descriptive numerical summary of the communication models, user populations and QI activities was created from the included studies, and the findings were further synthesised using deductive qualitative content analysis.

    40 studies were included. User populations included organisations, clinical and non-clinical providers, young people, people with chronic illness/disability and First Nations people. Twitter was the most common platform for design and QI activities. Most activities were conducted using two-way communication models. A typology of social media use is presented, identifying nine major models of use.

These portals are usually connected to a central EMR/EHR system linked to a central system. Furthermore, these portals are restrictive in that they are only accessible by these patients at the exclusion of parents, relatives and others that participate in providing care to the patient. Further complications include the increasing demand from our healthcare systems for patients to receive more off-site, non-primary, in-homecare, and/or specialized healthcare services at home (e.g., therapy, nursing, personal support, etc.). Lastly, an increasing number of people would like to have more autonomy over their health in terms of increased access to their own medical records and the services they receive. In this work, we addressed these limitations by creating MyHealthPortal - a patient portal aimed at non-primary care, in-homecare, and/or special healthcare for patients. MyHealthPortal can assist homecare and clinic-based healthcare services along with the benefits of existing portals (e.g., online appointment scheduling, monitoring, and information sharing). https://www.selleckchem.com/products/kartogenin.html MyHealthPortal is secure, robust, flexible and user-friendly. We developed it in partnership with our industry partner, Closing the Gap Healthcare. Closing the Gap is a prominent homecare and clinic-based healthcare service provider that became the first homecare agency to score 100% on standards from accreditation Canada and was awarded the exemplary standing. In this paper we present MyHealthPortal, the architectural framework that we designed and developed to support the system, and the results of a usability study conducted from real field studies. Our system was tested in a variety of conditions and achieved SUS usability scores of 92.5% (high).
    Uganda's maternal mortality rate remains unacceptably high. Mobile phones can potentially provide affordable means of accessing maternal health services even among the otherwise hard-to-reach populations. Evidence about the acceptability and feasibility of mobile phone-based interventions targeting illiterate women, however, is limited.

    To assess the acceptability and feasibility of a mobile phone-based multimedia application (MatHealth app) to support maternal health amongst illiterate pregnant women in rural southwestern Uganda.

    80 pregnant women initiating antenatal care from Mbarara regional referral hospital were enrolled in a pilot randomized controlled trial and followed until six weeks after delivery. The 40 women in the intervention group received a MatHealth app composed of educational videos/audios, clinic appointment reminders, and the calling function. Qualitative interviews on acceptability of this technology were carried out with 30 of the intervention participants. An inductive, content ion, and incorporating economic support to overcome the challenges we encountered.
    Telehealth is increasingly recognized as an avenue for enhancing psychologists' capacities to meet the mental health needs of a diverse and underserved (due to barriers e.g., distance, transportation) public. The present study sought to inform training in telepsychology (i.e., telehealth delivery of psychological services) by using both quantitative and qualitative methods to explore the perspectives of doctoral students who have already been involved in such training.

    A total of 19 predoctoral students from two universities, with at least some experience in telepsychology training, provided their perspectives on two complementary research questions (1) How do students perceive their level of competence in various domains of telepsychology?; and (2) What are students' perspectives on the process of telepsychology competency development during their doctoral training?

    The results of our study provide early evidence that doctoral trainees are able to develop telepsychology competencies and suggest that a supportive, training-oriented environment and fit between telepsychology and existing programmatic areas of emphasis are likely key to success.

    Continued efforts to enhance training in providing telepsychology services should focus on how to best define, measure, and promote competency development in this emerging specialty area.

However, no large-scale trial has examined the efficacy of this therapy for improving semen quality or live birth. Objective To determine the effect of daily folic acid and zinc supplementation on semen quality and live birth. Design, Setting, and Participants The Folic Acid and Zinc Supplementation Trial was a multicenter randomized clinical trial. Couples (n = 2370; men aged ≥18 years and women aged 18-45 years) planning infertility treatment were enrolled at 4 US reproductive endocrinology and infertility care study centers between June 2013 and December 2017. The last 6-month study visit for semen collection occurred during August 2018, with chart abstraction of live birth and pregnancy information completed during April 2019. Interventions Men were block randomized by study center and planned infertility treatment (in vitro fertilization, other treattion ClinicalTrials.gov Identifier NCT01857310.Emission excitation cross sections are recorded for collisions between Xe2+ + O2 and O+ + Xe over a collision energy range of approximately 2 to 900 eV in the center-of-mass (Ecm) frame. Emissive products of the O+ + Xe reaction are examined in the 700-1000 nm optical range and include neutral atomic oxygen emissions and neutral xenon emissions. Atomic emission products of the O+ + Xe collision appear to have measureable cross sections near Ecm = 14 eV and increase in intensity until about Ecm = 60 eV where they remain approximately constant for the remainder of the measured collision energies. For the Xe2+ + O2 collision system, O2+ charge transfer products are measured through fluorescence of the O2+(A-X) and (b-a) manifolds over the 200-850 nm window. Total cross sections for both manifolds do not vary beyond the experimental precision at all measured energies. Vibrational populations are derived from a fitting of the experimental data. Current developments afford synthetic access to unprecedented diazocine derivatives promising particular opportunities in photocontrol of proteins and biological systems. In this work, the well-established approach of photocontrolling the secondary structure of α-helices was exploited using a diazocine to reversibly fold and unfold the tertiary structure of a small protein. The protein of choice was the globulary folded Trp-cage, a widely used model system for the elucidation of protein folding pathways. A specifically designed, short and rigid dicarboxy-functionalized diazocine-based cross-linker was attached to two solvent-exposed side chains at the α-helix of the miniprotein through the use of a primary amine-selective active ester. This cross-linking strategy is orthogonal to the common cysteine-based chemistry. The cross-linked Trp-cage was successfully photoisomerized and exhibited a strong correlation between protein fold and diazocine isomeric state. As determined by NMR spectroscopy, the cis-isomer stabilized the fold, while the trans-isomer led to complete protein unfolding. Design, Setting, and Participants The Folic Acid and Zinc Supplementation Trial was a multicenter randomized clinical trial. Couples (n = 2370; men aged ≥18 years and women aged 18-45 years) planning infertility treatment were enrolled at 4 US reproductive endocrinology and infertility care study centers between June 2013 and December 2017. The last 6-month study visit for semen collection occurred during August 2018, with chart abstraction of live birth and pregnancy information completed during April 2019. Interventions Men were block randomized by study center and planned infertility treatment (in vitro fertilization, other treattion ClinicalTrials.gov Identifier NCT01857310.Emission excitation cross sections are recorded for collisions between Xe2+ + O2 and O+ + Xe over a collision energy range of approximately 2 to 900 eV in the center-of-mass (Ecm) frame. Emissive products of the O+ + Xe reaction are examined in the 700-1000 nm optical range and include neutral atomic oxygen emissions and neutral xenon emissions. Atomic emission products of the O+ + Xe collision appear to have measureable cross sections near Ecm = 14 eV and increase in intensity until about Ecm = 60 eV where they remain approximately constant for the remainder of the measured collision energies. For the Xe2+ + O2 collision system, O2+ charge transfer products are measured through fluorescence of the O2+(A-X) and (b-a) manifolds over the 200-850 nm window. Total cross sections for both manifolds do not vary beyond the experimental precision at all measured energies. Vibrational populations are derived from a fitting of the experimental data. The populations are found to deviate from a Franck-Condon distribution at all collision energies and appear to be well-modeled within a multi-channel Landau-Zener framework over the collision energy range measured.Immunosuppression is a manifestation imbalance in the immune system, often during unhealthy states. Current developments afford synthetic access to unprecedented diazocine derivatives promising particular opportunities in photocontrol of proteins and biological systems. In this work, the well-established approach of photocontrolling the secondary structure of α-helices was exploited using a diazocine to reversibly fold and unfold the tertiary structure of a small protein. The protein of choice was the globulary folded Trp-cage, a widely used model system for the elucidation of protein folding pathways. A specifically designed, short and rigid dicarboxy-functionalized diazocine-based cross-linker was attached to two solvent-exposed side chains at the α-helix of the miniprotein through the use of a primary amine-selective active ester. This cross-linking strategy is orthogonal to the common cysteine-based chemistry. The cross-linked Trp-cage was successfully photoisomerized and exhibited a strong correlation between protein fold and diazocine isomeric state. As determined by NMR spectroscopy, the cis-isomer stabilized the fold, while the trans-isomer led to complete protein unfolding. This in turn highly affects the rate and degree of oxidative polymerisation by the enzyme tyrosinase, with self-assembled nanofibres exhibiting a greater degree of polymerisation. We monitor the formation of tyrosine oxidation products over time, finding that the precipitation of polymers is driven by quinone-based species. This affects the electrochemical properties of the oxidised peptide polymers, as determined through electrical impedance spectroscopy.

Among bear species, the Himalayan brown bear (Ursus arctos isabellinus) has a distribution that is restricted to Himalayan highlands with relatively small and fragmented populations. To date, very little scientific information on the Himalayan brown bear, which is vital for the conservation of the species and the management of its habitats, especially in protected areas of the landscape, is available. The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of root morphology traits of herbaceous plants on the soil detachment process. Ten herbaceous plants (dominant species) in the Loess Plateau were selected, and 300 undisturbed soil samples (including living roots from the selected herbages) were scoured with flowing water to measure their soil detachment capacities under six levels of shear stress (4.98 to 16.37 Pa). Then, the root traits of each soil sample were measured, and the rill erodibility and critical shear stress were estimated based on the Water Erosion Prediction Project (WEPP) model. The results showed that root morphology traits varied greatly among the ten selected herbages. Accordingly, resulting variations in soil detachment capacity (0.030 to 3.297 kg m-2 s-1), rill erodibility (0.004 to 0.447 s m-1), and critical shear stress (4.73 to 1.13 Pa) were also observed. Plants with fibrous roots were more effective than those with tap roots in reducing soil detachment. Their mean soil detachment capacity and rill erodibility were 93.2% and 93.4% lower, respectively, and their mean critical shear stress was 1.15 times greater than that of the herbaceous plants with tap root systems. Of all the root traits, root surface area density (RSAD) was the primary root trait affecting the soil detachment, and it estimated the soil detachment capacity well (R2 = 0.91, normalized squared error (NSE) = 0.82). Additionally, an equation with few factors (soil aggregate and RSAD) was suggested to simulate the soil detachment capacity when the plant root parameters and soil properties were limited.Various hazardous trace elements emitted from anthropogenic activities are attracting increasing public awareness. This study comprehensively explored the distribution and emissions of trace elements in coal-fired power plants (CFPPs) after ultra-low emission retrofitting by conducting field experiments, literature surveys, and model calculations. High levels of volatile Hg and semi-volatile As/Pb were mainly observed in fly ash and gypsum (96.6%-98.5%), while the proportion of non-volatile Cr in bottom ash was 9.23%. The Hg and As/Pb removal efficiencies were remarkably improved by ultra-low emission retrofitting, increasing by 5.67% and 2.08%/2.63%, respectively. However, ULE retrofitting only slightly affected (0.17%) non-volatile elements. These improvements were mainly attributed to the low-low-temperature electrostatic precipitator. Owing to the enhanced particle-capturing efficiencies, the concentrations of trace elements in the emitted gas of the tested CFPPs were low, ranging from 0.21-1.50 μg/m3, but accounted for a high proportion of the gas phase (61.8%-100%). Based on the national database of coal quality and their behaviour in CFPPs, we found that most of the concentrations of trace elements emitted from Chinese CFPPs were significantly lower than the internationally existing emission limits. However, owing to the skewed distribution characteristics of the emitted concentrations, we suggest issuing or revising the corresponding emission limits and improving the control of intense trace element pollution in China.This study investigates the reliability of a pilot hybrid constructed wetland (H-CW), located in Eastern Sicily (Italy). To address the uncertainty associated with implementing representative monitoring during highly variable storm events, unique to Mediterranean conditions, a recipe for semi-synthetic stormwater was used to evaluate the removal efficiency of the system. This was characterised by metals (Cd, Cr, Fe, Pb, Cu, Zn) and relative concentrations typically found in urban stormwater runoff (SR). Approximately one month of intensive monitoring activities were carried out and quality analyses were conducted on three matrices comprising the pilot H-CW water, biomass (Canna indica, Typha latifolia), and volcanic gravel substrate. Metal retention in early clogging matter (SS) was also examined. The results showed a significantly high H-CW efficiency for the removal of all metals (70-98%) already at the horizontal flow unit outflow, confirming its strategic role. Few studies have currently investigated whether non-ionic iodinated contrast media (non-ionic ICM) affects peritoneal function or residual renal function (RRF). This study aimed to determine whether different non-ionic ICM concentrations affect peritoneum and RRF and attempted to evaluate CT peritoneography images to identify the optimal non-ionic ICM concentrations in animals. To this end, 25 male Sprague-Dawley rats were used to establish uraemic models, after which they were injected with a 40-mL mixture of peritoneal dialysate and iohexol at varying concentrations prior to CT peritoneography. Thereafter, two experienced radiologists blinded to the rat groupings evaluated image quality, peritoneal morphology and thickness were assessed using hematoxylin and eosin and Masson staining, and RRF was evaluated using serum creatinine levels hematoxylin and eosin staining of pathological kidney sections. Briefly, non-ionic ICM had negligible effects on the peritoneum and RRF. METHODS Thirty PwMS (mean age 49.2 ± 10.9 years) with anorectal disorders (constipation and/or fecal incontinence) participated in this observational study. Rectal sensory parameters during anorectal manometry were recorded at a strong desire to void and after urination (PV, post-void). The primary outcome was the desire to defecate volume. Secondary outcomes were first perception and maximum tolerated threshold volumes, presence and modulation of recto-anal inhibitory reflex. RESULTS The mean desire to defecate volume was 125 ± 59 mL at SDV and 104 ± 64 mL at PV (P  less then  .001). The mean maximum tolerated volume was 167 ± 61 mL at SDV vs 141 ± 64 mL after urination (P = .01). The other parameters were not different between SVD and PV conditions. No predictive factors for greater impairment of rectal sensory function were identified. We used Mendelian randomization (MR) to assess whether this relationship is explained by a specific effect in response to statin use or by a general effect of lipid lowering. We utilized 400 single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) robustly associated with plasma lipid levels as exposure. The outcome results were obtained from a heel estimated BMD (eBMD) genomewide association study (GWAS) from the UK Biobank and dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) BMD at four body sites and fracture GWAS from the GEFOS consortium. We performed univariate and multivariable MR analyses of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), and triglyceride levels on BMD and fracture. However, neural correlates of impaired gait automaticity are poorly investigated in PD. OBJECTIVE We aimed to examine the relationship between gait automaticity and striatal dopaminergic depletion in drug-naïve PD patients. METHODS A total of 21 drug-naïve PD patients and 12 healthy controls were enrolled. Gait parameters were measured via wearable inertial sensors under fast-paced gait or cognitive dual-task conditions, and their respective coefficient of variation (CV) and dual-task cost were calculated. The extent of striatal dopaminergic depletion was evaluated by dopamine transporter (DAT) imaging with single-photon emission computed tomography using N-ω-fluoropropyl-2β-carbomethoxy-3β-(4-[123 I]iodophenyl)nortropane. Correlation between DAT uptake and gait variables was analyzed using the region-of-interest analysis for the 3 right or left striatal regions and voxel-based analysis. RESULTS PD had higher mean bilateral CV and dual-task cost of stride length than healthy controls. The mean bilateral CV of stride length was negatively correlated with DAT uptake in the bilateral executive regions of the striatum. Voxel-based analysis revealed a negative correlation between the mean bilateral CV of stride length and DAT uptake in the anteromedial striatum. CONCLUSIONS Dopaminergic denervation in the anteromedial striatum, a part of the executive region, is associated with impaired gait automaticity in drug-naïve PD patients. We used Mendelian randomization (MR) to assess whether this relationship is explained by a specific effect in response to statin use or by a general effect of lipid lowering. We utilized 400 single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) robustly associated with plasma lipid levels as exposure. The outcome results were obtained from a heel estimated BMD (eBMD) genomewide association study (GWAS) from the UK Biobank and dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) BMD at four body sites and fracture GWAS from the GEFOS consortium. Among the 3 regions of the striatum (sensorimotor, executive, and limbic), the sensorimotor region may play a crucial role in motor automaticity in healthy individuals. However, neural correlates of impaired gait automaticity are poorly investigated in PD. OBJECTIVE We aimed to examine the relationship between gait automaticity and striatal dopaminergic depletion in drug-naïve PD patients. METHODS A total of 21 drug-naïve PD patients and 12 healthy controls were enrolled. Gait parameters were measured via wearable inertial sensors under fast-paced gait or cognitive dual-task conditions, and their respective coefficient of variation (CV) and dual-task cost were calculated. The extent of striatal dopaminergic depletion was evaluated by dopamine transporter (DAT) imaging with single-photon emission computed tomography using N-ω-fluoropropyl-2β-carbomethoxy-3β-(4-[123 I]iodophenyl)nortropane. Correlation between DAT uptake and gait variables was analyzed using the region-of-interest analysis for the 3 right or left striatal regions and voxel-based analysis. RESULTS PD had higher mean bilateral CV and dual-task cost of stride length than healthy controls. The mean bilateral CV of stride length was negatively correlated with DAT uptake in the bilateral executive regions of the striatum. Voxel-based analysis revealed a negative correlation between the mean bilateral CV of stride length and DAT uptake in the anteromedial striatum. CONCLUSIONS Dopaminergic denervation in the anteromedial striatum, a part of the executive region, is associated with impaired gait automaticity in drug-naïve PD patients.
