  • Super-enhancers (SEs) are congregated enhancer clusters with high level of loading of transcription factors (TFs), cofactors and epigenetic modifications. Through direct co-occupancy at their own SEs as well as each other's, a small set of so called "master" TFs form interconnected core regulatory circuitry (CRCs) to orchestrate transcriptional programs in both normal and malignant cells. These master TFs can be predicted mathematically using epigenomic methods. To clarify the drug resistance mechanisms of GS-9669 caused by M423T/I/V, L419M, R422K, and I482L mutations of NS5B polymerase (GT1b) and the receptor-ligand interactions during the binding process, a series of molecular simulation methods including molecular dynamics (MD) simulations and adaptive steered molecular dynamics (ASMD) simulations were performed for the wild-type (WT) and six mutant NS5B/GS-9669 complexes. The calculated results indicate that the binding free energies of the mutant systems are less negative than that of the WT system, indicating that these mutations will indeed cause NS5B to produce different degrees of resistance to GS-9669. The mutation-induced drug resistances are mainly caused by the loss of binding affinities of Leu419 and Trp528 with GS-9669 or the formation of multiple solvent bridges. Moreover, the ASMD calculations show that GS-9669 binds to the thumb II sites of the seven NS5B polymerases in distinct pathways without any obvious energy barriers. Although the recognition methods and binding pathways are distinct, the binding processes of GS-9669 with the WT and mutant NS5B polymerases are basically controlled thermodynamically. This study clearly reveals the resistance mechanisms of GS-9669 caused by M423T/I/V, L419M, R422K, and I482L mutations of HCV NS5B polymerase and provides some valuable clues for further optimization and design of novel NS5B inhibitors.Conformational stability of a protein is usually obtained by spectroscopically measuring the unfolding melting temperature. However, optical spectra under native conditions are considered to contain too little resolution to probe protein stability. Here, we have built and trained a neural network model to take the temperature-dependence of intrinsic fluorescence emission under native-only conditions as inputs, and then predict the spectra at the unfolding transition and denatured state. Application to a therapeutic antibody fragment demonstrates that thermal transitions obtained from the predicted spectra correlate highly with those measured experimentally. Crucially, this work reveals that the temperature-dependence of native fluorescence spectra contains a high-degree of previously hidden information relating native ensemble features to stability. This could lead to rapid screening of therapeutic protein variants and formulations based on spectroscopic measurements under non-denaturing temperatures only.Machine learning (ML) has been widely used in microbiome research for biomarker selection and disease prediction. To clearly understand the host-microbe interaction of specific diseases, previous studies always focused on well-designed cohorts, in which each sample was exactly labeled by a single status type. However, in fact an individual may be associated with multiple diseases simultaneously, which introduce additional variations on microbial patterns that interferes the status detection. More importantly, comorbidities or complications can be missed by regular ML models, limiting the practical application of microbiome techniques. In this review, we summarize the typical ML approaches of single-label classification for microbiome research, and demonstrate their limitations in multi-label disease detection using a real dataset.

This review was devoted to aquatic invertebrates, since this group of organisms includes species widely used as bioindicators of pollution and they represent important resources for human socio-economic development, as edible seafood, fishing baits and providing food resources for other species. From the literature, most of the published data are focused on freshwater environments, revealing concentrations from 0.347 to 80 μg/L, with the highest Gd anomalies found close to highlc wildlife and the necessity for new water remediation strategies.
    Nucleic acids are potent stimulators of type I interferon (IFN-I) and antiviral defense, but may also promote pathological inflammation. A range of diseases are characterized by elevated IFN-I, including systemic lupus erythematosus (lupus). The DNA-activated cGAS-STING pathway is a major IFN-I-inducing pathway, and activation of signaling is dependent on trafficking of STING from the ER to the Golgi.

    Here we used cell culture systems, a mouse lupus model, and material from lupus patients, to explore the mode of action of a STING antagonistic peptide, and its ability to modulate disease processes.

    We report that the peptide ISD017 selectively inhibits all known down-stream activities of STING, including IFN-I, inflammatory cytokines, autophagy, and apoptosis. ISD017 blocks the essential trafficking of STING from the ER to Golgi through a mechanism dependent on the STING ER retention factor STIM1. Importantly, ISD017 blocks STING activity in vivo and ameliorates disease development in a mouse model for lupus. Finally, ISD017 treatment blocks pathological cytokine responses in cells from lupus patients with elevated IFN-I levels.

    These data hold promise for beneficial use of STING-targeting therapy in lupus.

    Diarrheal diseases are a leading cause of global morbidity and mortality affecting all ages, but especially children under the age of five in resource-limited settings. Shigella is a leading contributor to diarrheal diseases caused by bacterial pathogens and is considered a significant antimicrobial resistance threat. While improvements in hygiene, and access to clean water help as control measures, vaccination remains one of the most viable options for significantly reducing morbidity and mortality.

    Flexyn2a is a bioconjugate vaccine manufactured using novel conjugation methodologies enzymatically linking the O-polysaccharide of S. flexneri 2a to exotoxin A of Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The protective capacity of Flexyn2a was assessed in a controlled human infection model after two intramuscular immunizations. Immune responses pre- and post-immunization and/or infection were investigated and are described here.

    Flexyn2a induced lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-specific serum IgG responses post-immunization which were associated with protection against shigellosis. Additionally, several other immune parameters, including memory B cell responses, bactericidal antibodies and serum IgA, were also elevated in vaccinees protected against shigellosis. Immunization with Flexyn2a also induced gut-homing, LPS-specific IgG and IgA secreting B cells, indicating the vaccine induced immune effectors functioning at the site of intestinal infection.

    Collectively, the results of these immunological investigations provide insights into protective immune mechanisms post-immunization with Flexyn2a which can be used to further guide vaccine development and may have applicability to the larger Shigella vaccine field.

    Biomarker-disease relationships are extensively investigated. However, associations between common clinical biomarkers and healthspan, the disease-free lifespan, are largely unknown. We aimed to explore the predictive values of ten biomarkers on healthspan and lifespan, and to identify putative causal mechanisms.

    Using data from 12,098 Swedish individuals aged 47-94 years, we examined both serum concentrations and genetically predicted levels of ten glycemic, lipid-, inflammatory, and hematological biomarkers. During a follow-up period of up to 16 years, 3681 incident cases of any chronic disease (i.e., end of healthspan) and 2674 deaths (i.e., end of lifespan) were documented. Cox regression models were applied to estimate the associations of a one standard deviation increase in biomarkers with healthspan and lifespan.

    Seven out of ten serum biomarkers were significantly associated with risks of any chronic disease and death; elevated glycemic biomarkers and high-density lipoprotein-related biomarkers showed the strongest detrimental (hazard ratio [HR] 1·29 [95% CI 1·24-1·34]) and protective effects (HR 0·92 [95% CI 0·89-0·96]), respectively.

  • In mammals, neural crest cells populate the gut and form the enteric nervous system (ENS) early in embryogenesis. Although the basic ENS structure is highly conserved across species, we show important differences between **** and humans relating to the prenatal and postnatal development of mucosal enteric glial cells (mEGC), which are essential ENS components. We confirm previous work showing that in the mouse mEGCs are absent at birth, and that their appearance and homeostasis depends on postnatal colonization by microbiota. In humans, by contrast, a network of glial cells is already present in the fetal gut. Moreover, in xenografts of human fetal gut maintained for months in immuno-compromised ****, mEGCs persist following treatment with antibiotics that lead to the disappearance of mEGCs from the gut of the murine host. Single cell RNAseq indicates that human and mouse mEGCs differ not only in their developmental dynamics, but also in their patterns of gene expression.The use of bast fiber film can improve rice seedling quality, and nano-silicon fertilizer can increase rice yields. This study aimed to compare the effects of using bast fiber film, nano-silicon fertilizer, and both treatments on rice yield and lodging resistance. A 2-year field experiment was conducted in 2017 and 2018, in Liaoning, China. The experiment comprised a control (no-bast fiber film, no nano-silicon fertilizer; CK), and three treatments seedlings cultivated with bast film (FM), single nano-silicon fertilization (SF), and bast fiber film seedlings + nano-silicon fertilization (FM + SF). The japonica rice (Oryza sativa L.) cultivar Liaojing 371 was used. Compared with the plants in CK, those in the FM treatment showed greater average root diameter, root volume and root dry weight. The SF treatment increased the single stem flexural strength, increased the contents of silicon, lignin, and cellulose in the rice plant stalk, and reduced the lodging index, thereby increasing lodging resistance. The SF treatment resulted in increased leaf chlorophyll content at late growth stage and a higher net photosynthetic rate, which increased plant dry matter accumulation. In the FM + SF treatment, plant growth was enhanced during the whole growth period, which resulted in an increased number of effective panicles and an increased grain yield. The results show that the combination of FM and SF synergistically improves rice lodging resistance and grain yield. This low-cost, high-efficiency system is of great significance for improving the stability and lodging resistance of rice plants, thereby increasing yields.Certain fungus gnats, like Lycoriella ingenua are notorious pests in agriculture, especially in mushroom production. While larvae cause mainly direct crop damage, adults are vectors of several dangerous fungal pathogens. To promote the development of pesticide-free management methods, such as light trapping, we measured the spectral sensitivity of L. ingenua compound eyes with electroretinography and performed two different behavioural experiments to reveal the wavelength dependence of phototaxis in this species. The spectral sensitivity of the compound eyes is bimodal with peaks at 370 nm (UV) and 526 nm (green). Behavioural experiments showed that attraction to light as a function of wavelength depends on light intensity. A median of 6 retinal vessel and blood pressure measurements were collected from 64 children (ages 4-12 years), for a total of 344 retinal measurements and 432 blood pressure measurements.     In mammals, neural crest cells populate the gut and form the enteric nervous system (ENS) early in embryogenesis. Although the basic ENS structure is highly conserved across species, we show important differences between mice and humans relating to the prenatal and postnatal development of mucosal enteric glial cells (mEGC), which are essential ENS components. We confirm previous work showing that in the mouse mEGCs are absent at birth, and that their appearance and homeostasis depends on postnatal colonization by microbiota. In humans, by contrast, a network of glial cells is already present in the fetal gut. Moreover, in xenografts of human fetal gut maintained for months in immuno-compromised mice, mEGCs persist following treatment with antibiotics that lead to the disappearance of mEGCs from the gut of the murine host. Single cell RNAseq indicates that human and mouse mEGCs differ not only in their developmental dynamics, but also in their patterns of gene expression.The use of bast fiber film can improve rice seedling quality, and nano-silicon fertilizer can increase rice yields. This study aimed to compare the effects of using bast fiber film, nano-silicon fertilizer, and both treatments on rice yield and lodging resistance. A 2-year field experiment was conducted in 2017 and 2018, in Liaoning, China. The experiment comprised a control (no-bast fiber film, no nano-silicon fertilizer; CK), and three treatments seedlings cultivated with bast film (FM), single nano-silicon fertilization (SF), and bast fiber film seedlings + nano-silicon fertilization (FM + SF). The japonica rice (Oryza sativa L.) cultivar Liaojing 371 was used. Compared with the plants in CK, those in the FM treatment showed greater average root diameter, root volume and root dry weight. The SF treatment increased the single stem flexural strength, increased the contents of silicon, lignin, and cellulose in the rice plant stalk, and reduced the lodging index, thereby increasing lodging resistance. The SF treatment resulted in increased leaf chlorophyll content at late growth stage and a higher net photosynthetic rate, which increased plant dry matter accumulation. In the FM + SF treatment, plant growth was enhanced during the whole growth period, which resulted in an increased number of effective panicles and an increased grain yield. The results show that the combination of FM and SF synergistically improves rice lodging resistance and grain yield. This low-cost, high-efficiency system is of great significance for improving the stability and lodging resistance of rice plants, thereby increasing yields.Certain fungus gnats, like Lycoriella ingenua are notorious pests in agriculture, especially in mushroom production. To promote the development of pesticide-free management methods, such as light trapping, we measured the spectral sensitivity of L. ingenua compound eyes with electroretinography and performed two different behavioural experiments to reveal the wavelength dependence of phototaxis in this species. The spectral sensitivity of the compound eyes is bimodal with peaks at 370 nm (UV) and 526 nm (green). However, it is still a huge challenge to develop a strong and stable flexible film that can efficiently convert light to heat. Here, based on a simple electrochemical method to construct a zinc oxide (ZnO) nanoneedles structure on the surface of the carbon nanotube film (CNTF), a film with the function of condensed micro-droplet self-propelling (CMDSP) was successfully prepared. The prepared film has excellent light absorption capacity and high energy transfer efficiency (76.71%). The film has strong photothermal anti-icing/deicing performance. Eighteen studies were used for meta-analysis. A pooled analysis found an overall sensitivity of 80% (95% CI, 74%-85%,I2= 62%), and specificity of 78% (95% CI, 70%-84%,I2= 80%), which corresponds to the overall diagnostic performance of micro-chip FAIMS across many different medical conditions. The diagnostic accuracy was particularly high for coeliac and inflammatory bowel disease (sensitivity and specificity from 74% to 97%). The overall diagnostic performance was similar across breath, urine, and faecal matrices with sparse logistic regression and random forests algorithms resulting in higher diagnostic accuracy. Sources of variability likely arise from differences in sample storage, sampling protocol, method of data analysis, type of disease, sample matrix, and potentially to clinical and disease factors. The results of this meta-analysis indicate that micro-chip FAIMS is a promising candidate for disease screening at the point-of-care, particularly for gastroenterology diseases.   • This information provides another insight into blueberry anthocyanin biosynthesis.The purpose of this study was to directly and quantitatively measure BMD from Cone-beam CT (CBCT) images by enhancing the linearity and uniformity of the bone intensities based on a hybrid deep-learning model (QCBCT-NET) of combining the generative adversarial network (Cycle-GAN) and U-Net, and to compare the bone images enhanced by the QCBCT-NET with those by Cycle-GAN and U-Net. We used two phantoms of human skulls encased in acrylic, one for the training and validation datasets, and the other for the test dataset. We proposed the QCBCT-NET consisting of Cycle-GAN with residual blocks and a multi-channel U-Net using paired training data of quantitative CT (QCT) and CBCT images. The BMD images produced by QCBCT-NET significantly outperformed the images produced by the Cycle-GAN or the U-Net in mean absolute difference (MAD), peak signal to noise ratio (PSNR), normalized cross-correlation (NCC), structural similarity (SSIM), and linearity when compared to the original QCT image. The QCBCT-NET improved the contrast of the bone images by reflecting the original BMD distribution of the QCT image locally using the Cycle-GAN, and also spatial uniformity of the bone images by globally suppressing image artifacts and noise using the two-channel U-Net. We introduce an advanced optical probing method employing multiple passes of the probe through the object to increase phase sensitivity, and relay-imaging of the object between individual passes to preserve spatial resolution. An interferometer with four-passes was set up and the concept was validated by tomographic characterization of low-density supersonic gas jets. The results show an evident increase of sensitivity, which allows for the accurate quantitation of fine features such as a shock formed by an obstacle or a barrel shock on the jet boundary in low ambient gas pressures. In fact, it has always been the most natural way for humankind to explore nature. However, objects consisting of transparent materials with a refractive index close to unity, such as low-density gas jets, are a typical example of samples that often reach the sensitivity limits of optical probing techniques. We introduce an advanced optical probing method employing multiple passes of the probe through the object to increase phase sensitivity, and relay-imaging of the object between individual passes to preserve spatial resolution. An interferometer with four-passes was set up and the concept was validated by tomographic characterization of low-density supersonic gas jets. The results show an evident increase of sensitivity, which allows for the accurate quantitation of fine features such as a shock formed by an obstacle or a barrel shock on the jet boundary in low ambient gas pressures. Fifteen Urochloa seeds samples were collected from farmers and/or government stations in five regions (Adamaoua, East, North, North West, and West) and analysed for major seed quality parameters along with seeds of improved Urochloa cultivar Basilisk imported from Brazil as a check. Study showed significant differences among treatments for various seed quality parameters tested (P  less then  0.0001). The highest thousand grains weight was recorded in Basilisk (5.685 g), followed by W12 (3.555 g), A05 (3.153 g) and N01 (2.655 g).     Senior residents and fellows (n=11) targeted 4 forearm muscles with anatomic landmarks alone versus with audiovisual EMG feedback. Accuracy of EMG needle placement was verified using neuromuscular ultrasound imaging.

Here, we report that activation of the IRE1α kinase pathway can rescue the cell surface expression of ΔF508-CFTR and p.H723R-pendrin through a Golgi-independent unconventional protein secretion (UPS) route. In mammalian cells, inhibition of IRE1α kinase, but not inhibition of IRE1α endonuclease and the downstream effector XBP1, inhibited CFTR UPS. Treatment with the IRE1α kinase activator, (E)-2-(2-chlorostyryl)-3,5,6-trimethyl-pyrazine (CSTMP), rescued cell surface expression and functional activity of ΔF508-CFTR and p.H723R-pendrin. Treatment with a nontoxic dose of CSTMP to ΔF508-CFTR **** restored CFTR surface expression and CFTR-mediated anion transport in the mouse colon. These findings suggest that UPS activation via IRE1α kinase is a strategy to treat diseases caused by defective cell surface trafficking of membrane proteins, including ΔF508-CFTR and p.H723R-pendrin. Assimilated meteorological data are used here to assess future offshore wind potential for China. Analysis on a provincial basis indicates that the aggregate potential wind resource is 5.4 times larger than the current coastal demand for power. Recent experiences with markets in both Europe and the United States suggest that potential offshore resources in China could be exploited to cost-competitively provide 1148.3 TWh of energy in a high-cost scenario, 6383.4 TWh in a low-cost option, equivalent to between 36 and 200% of the total coastal energy demand after 2020. The analysis underscores notable benefits for offshore wind for China, with prospects for major reductions in greenhouse emissions with ancillary benefits for air quality. Here, we experimentally observe ultrafast relaxation of free carriers in 20 ps due to the quantum confinement of free carriers in a self-assembled QW structures that form excitons. Furthermore, hybridizing the 2D perovskites with metamaterials on a rigid and a flexible substrate enables modulation of terahertz fields at 50-GHz modulating speed, which is the fastest for a solution-processed semiconductor-based photonic device. In this work, we introduce the concept of photothermally induced transparency (PTIT). It happens when an optical resonator exhibits nonlinear behavior due to optical heating of the resonator or its mirrors. Similar to the established mechanisms for induced transparency, PTIT can suppress the coupling between an optical resonator and a traveling optical field. We further show that the dispersion of the resonator can be modified to exhibit slow or fast light. Because of the relatively slow thermal response, we observe the bandwidth of the PTIT to be 2π × 15.9 Hz, which theoretically suggests a group velocity of as low as 5 m/s. Here, we made use of recent advances in cross-linking mass spectrometry (XL-MS) in combination with biochemical and computational approaches to reveal the architecture and assembly of synaptic protein complexes from mouse brain hippocampus and cerebellum. We obtained 11,999 unique lysine-lysine cross-links, comprising connections within and between 2362 proteins. This extensive collection was the basis to identify novel protein partners, to model protein conformational dynamics, and to delineate within and between protein interactions of main synaptic constituents, such as Camk2, the AMPA-type glutamate receptor, and associated proteins. Using XL-MS, we generated a protein interaction resource that we made easily accessible via a web-based platform (http//xlink.cncr.nl) to provide new entries into exploration of all protein interactions identified.

The overall average efficacy of the commercial drugs was significantly higher (P less then 0.05) in DA (49.2%), where moxidectin (90.4%) showed high effectiveness. His cardiovascular status was stable without arrhythmia under propofol and remifentanil anesthesia. The DOA was evaluated with Root® with SedLine® Brain Function Monitoring (Masimo Inc, Irvine, CA). The EEG showed a rhythmic, heart rate time-locked pulsation artifact, which diminished after electrode repositioning. Offline analysis revealed that the pulse wave-like interference in EEG was observed at the heart rate frequency.

    Hereditary diffuse leukoencephalopathy with spheroids (HDLS) is an adult onset leukodystrophy, causally related to mutations in the colony-stimulating factor 1 receptor (CSF1R) gene. We report the unique case of a Greek HDLS patient, demonstrating an unusual phenotype, reminiscent of primary progressive aphasia (PPA).

    A 63-year-old woman was referred with a 2-year history of deteriorating language and memory deficits, apathy, and two generalized tonic-clonic seizures. Neurological and neuropsychological examination revealed prominent aphasia with a pattern consistent with nonfluent variant of PPA. However, brain MRI disclosed confluent T2 and FLAIR white matter hyperintensities with frontal emphasis, whereas genetic testing corroborated the diagnosis of HDLS.

    PPA-like patterns may rarely develop in the context of HDLS. Prompt diagnosis of this leukoencephalopathy is essential, since preliminary data suggest that it could represent a potentially treatable disorder.

This study develops new computational techniques to estimate key ventricular activation properties for individual subjects by exploiting the synergy between non-invasive electrocardiography, cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) imaging and modelling and simulation. Many methods for deriving parameter maps assume perfect measurements and do not consider how noise is propagated through the estimation procedure, resulting in needlessly noisy maps. Instead, we propose a probabilistic generative (forward) model of the entire dataset, which is formulated and inverted to jointly recover (log) parameter maps with a well-defined probabilistic interpretation (e.g., maximum likelihood or maximum a posteriori).     Cognitive and socio-emotional profiles of children with CREBBP-related Rubinstein-Taybi syndrome (RSTS 1), children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) with severe intellectual disability and developmental ages (DA) under 24 months, and typically developing (TD) children with similar DA were compared.

    Thirty-one children with RSTS 1 (mean chronological age, CA = 59,8 months; 33-87) and thirty children with ASD, matched on CA and DA and developmental quotients (DQ), were compared to thirty TD children (CA ranged from 12 to 24 months).

    Cognitive and socio-emotional developmental levels, DA and DQ were assessed with appropriated tests.

    More socio-emotional developmental similarities were observed between TD and RSTS 1 than between TD and ASD children. Clinical groups displayed similar developmental delays in cognitive (self-image, symbolic play, means-ends, and object permanence) and socio-emotional domains (language and imitation). Children with RSTS 1 exhibited higher developmental levels in behavior regulation, joint attention, affective relations, emotional expression domains, and a lower developmental level in spatial relations domain.

Cohort sequential latent growth curve modelling was utilized to assess patterns of mean-level change due to both aging and cohort effects in 15,264 participants (62.9 % women) aged between 18-94 years (M = 46.55, SD = 14.24). Results demonstrated a very slight increase in body satisfaction across the lifespan for both men and women. Cohort effects demonstrated that for women aged 54 years and below, all but two cohorts (24-29 and 34-39 years) displayed an upward trajectory in their body satisfaction over the 5-year period of assessment. No consistent cohort effects were evident for men. Finally, men, relative to women, consistently displayed higher levels of body satisfaction across the lifespan. This study provides insights into the trajectory of body image across the lifespan for men and women. The findings also suggest recent (cohort) improvements in body image for women, and potential explanations for this unexpected shift are discussed.

To our knowledge, individual components of pranayama have not been separately evaluated for impact on HRV. The objective of this study was to isolate five components of a pranayama practice and evaluate their impact on HRV.

    In a crossover clinical trial, 46 healthy adults were allocated to complete five activities in random order, over five separate visits 1) sitting quietly; 2) self-paced deep breathing; 3) externally-paced deep breathing; 4) self-paced Sheetali/Sheetkari pranayama; and 5) externally paced Sheetali/Sheetkari pranayama RESULTS Our final sample included 25 participants. There was a significant increase in a time-domain index of HRV, the root mean square successive differences between RR intervals (RMSSD), during the five interventions. The change in logRMSSD ranged from 0.2 to 0.5 (p<.01 in all conditions by paired t-test).

  • To evaluate the prevalence and factors associated with Chronic psychiatric and somatic illness among medical students in Morocco.

    A multicentric cross-sectional study during a period of four weeks in February 2019 involving 605 students of 1st, 2nd and 3rd cycle of medical studies of the faculties of medicine in Morocco.

    41.5% (251) of students confirmed having a chronic disease, among which 80% were under treatment. Psychiatric conditions represented the most frequent chronic illnesses among medical students (28%), followed by dermatological (16%), allergic and respiratory (12.2%), and gastroenterological (11%) conditions. Chronic illnesses among medical students were significantly associated with female gender (P 0.0000000037), level of education (P 0.0000), personal history of suicide attempts (P 0.0000259), and a consumption of psychoactive substances (P 0.0000029046).

    Chronic illnesses are frequent, underestimated and undertreated among medical students in Morocco. The link with stress has been suggested as the value of establishing a program to train medical students in stress management.

To investigate this issue, we evaluated loneliness in patients with Alzheimer's disease (AD) living in retirement homes in France during the COVID-19 crisis. We aimed to assess the feasibility and acceptability of a psycho-educational program promoting information about the disease and presenting techniques that can help to cope with anorexia and the functional impact it causes. The exploratory secondary objectives were to evaluate if such a group is associated with clinical improvement.

    Twenty-seven patients suffering from anorexia nervosa, in three groups, received eight weekly interventions in addition to their usual care. The study was open-label and non-randomized. Patients were assessed three times (baseline, at the end of the group and three months later). The assessments were both qualitative ( does not allow any conclusions, the clinical improvements observed during the group are encouraging with regard to the safety of this type of intervention and its possible effectiveness and argue for a controlled study.

    We realized a monocentric pilot study in Poitiers (Vienne, France) recruiting 17 survivors of intimate partner violence and 42 survivors of other types of violence from two medical departments the Unit of Forensic Medicine, where victims are oriented following complaints, and the Psychotrauma Center. Participants were administrated questionnaires comprising socio-demographics data and specific scales, namely the PTGI and PCL-5.

    We found a higher prevalence of posttraumatic growth in survivors of intimate partner violence (82%), when compared with survivors of sexual assault and other interpersonal types of violence (52% and 53%, respectively). Posttraumatic growth was lowclear, probably depending on the trauma, the circumstances, the timing of the measurement. In our study, we found a clear negative correlation between the two parameters. Element levels in sediments were within the range of low pollution areas, except for Cr, As, Ni, and Cd. Dominant sources of elements were natural, except for Cd, which was anthropogenic. All geo-accumulation index (Igeo) values were less than zero, except for Ag, Cd, and Sr from heavily to moderately contaminated areas. Eri values indicated low ecological risk, except for Cd which showed a high ecological risk. The As levels limit the consumption of fish meal per month.
    To evaluate the prevalence and factors associated with Chronic psychiatric and somatic illness among medical students in Morocco. A multicentric cross-sectional study during a period of four weeks in February 2019 involving 605 students of 1st, 2nd and 3rd cycle of medical studies of the faculties of medicine in Morocco. 41.5% (251) of students confirmed having a chronic disease, among which 80% were under treatment. Psychiatric conditions represented the most frequent chronic illnesses among medical students (28%), followed by dermatological (16%), allergic and respiratory (12.2%), and gastroenterological (11%) conditions. Chronic illnesses among medical students were significantly associated with female gender (P 0.0000000037), level of education (P 0.0000), personal history of suicide attempts (P 0.0000259), and a consumption of psychoactive substances (P 0.0000029046). We also discuss the evidence from clinical practice studies that confirm the results previously achieved in clinical trials. Finally, we analyze the potential role of regorafenib in emerging combined treatment approach with immunotherapy strategies using immune checkpoint blockade and its potential extension to patient categories not included in the registrative study.

    To describe the epidemiological aspects, etiology and outcome of iatrogenic ureteral injury repair at the urology division of Souro Teaching Hospital of Bobo Dioulasso (Burkina-Faso).

    This was a retrospective descriptive study of consecutive patients with iatrogenic ureteric injuries who were referred and managed in the urology division of Souro Sanou Teaching Hospital (Bobo-Dioulasso) from January 2012 to December 2017. Variables studied were age, the time at the diagnosis, the causative event, the method of repair, and the outcome of the management.

    The mean age was 37.72±3.5 years coming from the rural population in most cases. The mean time at the diagnosis was 15 days. The injuries were due to gynecologic surgeries with hysterectomy (66%) and caesarian section (33%). Ureteric reimplantation with anti-reflux system was performed in seventeen patients. The rate of treatment success was 94% and the postoperative course was uneventful for all the patients.
