Structural equation modeling was employed to analyze the measurement and structural relationships including the mediation effects of corporate entrepreneurship. All the relationships with corporate entrepreneurship were found significant except the direct effect of absorptive capacity on competitive advantage. Based on Mental Model Theory (MMT) of conditional reasoning, we assume that (mathematical) content knowledge will influence the generation of models, when conditionals concern mathematical concepts. In a cross-sectional study, 102 students in Cyprus from grades 2, 4, and 6 solved four conditional reasoning tasks on each type of content (everyday and mathemao reasoning with mathematical concepts adding to our understanding of the link between mathematics and conditional reasoning in primary school. This study aimed to examine the psychometric properties of perception of teachers' achievement goal structure constructs with 3,149 Chinese students from grades 3-8. Eight models were examined to check the constructs of the achievement goal structure (mastery, performance, and performance avoidance). Two-factor structures proved to be the best fit. Additionally, a multilevel confirmatory factor analysis proved that the achievement goal structure existed at the same time in the class student levels. Methods One hundred and eleven children/adolescents with migraine were included (47 boys and 64 girls; mean age 11.7; ±2.4 years). The patients were classified as (1) high frequency patients, reporting from weekly to daily episodes and (2) low frequency patients, with ≤3 episodes per month. According to their body mass index percentiles, the patients were divided in "Normal weight" (from ≥5 to less then 85 percentile), "Overweight" (from ≥85 to less then 95 peus is associated with a higher frequency of attacks and separation anxiety symptoms. In particular, our study provides the first evidence of the role of anxiety in linking overweight and the frequency of migraine attacks in children and adolescents.The risk of the appearance of psychosis may reflect the existence of an underlying vulnerability, which may be influenced by environmental factors such as early traumatic experiences. This means that in clinical practice, the assessment of and approach to previous traumatic events is important in persons with psychotic disorders. The psychometric assessment of trauma has advanced considerably in recent years; however, there is no instrument that has been constructed and validated specifically for the evaluation of early traumatic experiences in the clinical population with psychosis. The main goal of this study was to present the construction and validation process of the Screening of Early Traumatic Experiences in Patients with Severe Mental Illness (ExpTra-S). The sample consisted of 114 patients who had experienced at least one psychotic episode (M = 35.5 years of age; SD = 9.26) and a comparison group of 153 young adults (M = 20.8 years of age; SD = 1.8). The factor analysis revealed an essentially one-dimensional structure.

  • Epilepsy is a serious hazard to human health. Minimally invasive surgery is currently an extremely effective treatment to refractory epilepsy. However, it is challenging to localize the lesion for most patients because they are MRI negative. The identification of epileptic foci in local brain region will be helpful to the localization of epileptic foci because we can infer whether there is a lesion from the results of the classification. For the sake of simplicity and the data we collected, only the hippocampus was segmented as a local brain region and classified in this paper. We recruited 59 children with hippocampus epilepsy and 70 age- and sex-matched normal controls, and diffusion kurtosis images (DKI) for all subjects were collected because DKI can understand the pathological changes of local tissues and other regions of epileptic foci at the molecular level. Then, a mask of hippocampus was made to segment the hippocampus of FA, MD, and MK images for all subjects, which are the parameter images of DKI and were used to perform the independent-sample t-test and the classification task. At last, a convolutional neural network (CNN) based on transfer learning technique was developed to extract features of FA, MD, MK, and the fusion of FA and MK, and support vector machine was employed to classify epilepsy and normal control. Finally, the classifier produced 90.8% accuracy for patient vs. normal controls. Experimental results showed that the features extraction based on CNN is very effective, and the high accuracy of classification means that FA and MK are two remarkable features to identify epilepsy, which indicates that DKI images can act as an important biomarker for epilepsy from the point of view of clinical diagnosis.Advances in video conferencing capabilities combined with dramatic socio-dynamic shifts brought about by COVID-19, have redefined the ways in which humans interact in modern society. From business meetings to medical exams, or from classroom instruction to yoga class, virtual interfacing has permeated nearly every aspect of our daily lives. A seemingly endless stream of technological advances combined with our newfound reliance on virtual interfacing makes it likely that humans will continue to use this modern form of social interaction into the future. However, emergent evidence suggests that virtual interfacing may not be equivalent to face-to-face interactions. Ultimately, too little is currently understood about the mechanisms that underlie human interactions over the virtual divide, including how these mechanisms differ from traditional face-to-face interaction. Here, we propose functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) hyperscanning-simultaneous measurement of two or more brains-as an optimal approach to quantify potential neurocognitive differences between virtual and in-person interactions. We argue that increased focus on this understudied domain will help elucidate the reasons why virtual conferencing doesn't always stack up to in-person meetings and will also serve to spur new technologies designed to improve the virtual interaction experience. On the basis of existing fNIRS hyperscanning literature, we highlight the current gaps in research regarding virtual interactions. Furthermore, we provide insight into current hurdles regarding fNIRS hyperscanning hardware and methodology that should be addressed in order to shed light on this newly critical element of everyday life.Objectives To study whether and to what extent the therapeutic impedance and current change under long-term deep brain stimulation (DBS) with constant stimulation settings, which could inform the role of constant current stimulation. Methods Therapy impedance and current measurements were retrospectively collected from patients with Parkinson's disease (PD) undergoing DBS of the subthalamic nucleus (STN) or essential tremor (ET) undergoing ventral intermediate nucleus (VIM). Baseline and follow-up measurements were obtained for intervals of at least 6 months without changes in stimulation settings. The single longest interval of constant stimulation for each electrode was included. Temporal trends in impedance and current were analyzed as absolute and relative differences and as the rate of change. Results Impedance and current data from 79 electrodes (60 in STN, 19 in VIM) in 44 patients (32 with PD, 12 with ET) met inclusion criteria. Following DBS, she discovered she no longer "remembered" how to type fluidly and had to "hunt and peck" for letters on the keyboard. This issue persisted at a 2-year follow-up. The patient underwent serial typing tests with the DBS ON vs. OFF. Post-operative lead reconstruction was performed using Lead-DBS. The volume of tissue activation (VTA) modeling was combined with whole-brain tractography. Results Typing improved when the device was switched to the DBS OFF state. Cortical mapping revealed strong modulation of the right angular gyrus, left calcarine fissure, and left cuneus.

    The aims of this study were to determine the rate and the predictors of early recurrences of atrial fibrillation (ERAF) after cryoballoon (CB) ablation and to evaluate whether ERAF correlate with the long-term outcome.

    Three thousand, six hundred, and eighty-one consecutive patients (59.9 ± 10.5 years, female 26.5%, and 74.3% paroxysmal AF) were included in the analysis. Atrial fibrillation recurrence, lasting at least 30 s, was collected during and after the 3-month blanking period. Three-hundred and sixteen patients (8.6%) (Group A) had ERAF during the blanking period, and 3365 patients (Group B) had no ERAF. Persistent AF and number of tested anti-arrhythmic drugs ≥2 resulted as significant predictors of ERAF. After a mean follow-up of 16.8 ± 16.4 months, 923/3681 (25%) patients had at least one AF recurrence. The observed freedom from AF recurrence, at 24-month follow-up from procedure, was 25.7% and 64.8% in Groups A and B, respectively (P < 0.001). ERAF, persistent AF, and number of tested anti-arrhythmic drugs ≥2 resulted as significant predictors of AF. In a propensity score matching, the logistic model showed that ERAF 1 month after ablation are the best predictor of long-term AF recurrence (P = 0.042).

Moreover, the role of distinct adipose tissue depots is a matter of intense scientific interest with the depot directly surrounding the heart-epicardial adipose tissue (EAT) appearing to have the greatest correlation with AF presence and severity. Similarly, inflammation is implicated in the pathophysiology of AF with EAT thought to act as a local depot of inflammatory mediators. These can easily diffuse into atrial tissue with the potential to alter its structural and electrical properties. Various meta-analyses have indicated that EAT size is an independent risk factor for AF with adipose tissue expansion being inevitably associated with a local inflammatory process. Here, we first briefly review adipose tissue anatomy and physiology then move on to the epidemiological data correlating EAT, inflammation, and AF. We focus particularly on discussing the mechanistic basis of how EAT inflammation may precipitate and maintain AF. Finally, we review how EAT can be utilized to help in the clinical management of AF patients and discuss future avenues for research.
    Cataract, a clouding of the intraocular lens, is the leading cause of blindness. The lens-expressed long noncoding RNA OIP5-AS1 was upregulated in lens epithelial cells from patients with cataracts, suggesting its pathogenic role in cataracts. We investigated the regulatory role of OIP5-AS1 in the development of cataracts as well as potential RNA binding proteins, downstream target genes, and upstream transcription factors.

    Clinical capsules and ex vivo and in vitro cataract models were used to test OIP5-AS1 expression. Cell apoptosis was detected using Western blots, JC-1 staining, and flow cytometry. Previous simulation methods confine ions between walls, and the osmotic pressure is inferred from the force required to maintain this confinement. In this work, we impose a harmonic potential on the ions to form a nonuniform concentration profile in the solution. As this profile arises from the force balance of the harmonic potential with the osmotic pressure, it can be used to determine the osmotic pressure across the entire concentration profile. This method can be performed without specialized programming, making it accessible to the general user. Using our method, we find that standard potentials for Na+ and Cl- ions need adjustments to be consistent with experimental osmotic pressure at high concentrations.

Three-hundred and sixteen patients (8.6%) (Group A) had ERAF during the blanking period, and 3365 patients (Group B) had no ERAF. After a mean follow-up of 16.8 ± 16.4 months, 923/3681 (25%) patients had at least one AF recurrence. Drawing on social learning theory, we examined the relationship between perceived leader's helping behavior and employees' thriving. Positing voice behavior as a mediator and perceived leader's role overload as a moderator, we constructed a moderated mediation model. Using 205 daily data points from 51 employees in various industries, we found that perceived leader's helping behavior had a positive effect on employees' thriving at work and that employees' voice behavior mediated this effect. With the increase of perceived leader's role overload, the positive relationship between perceived leader's helping behavior and employees' voice behavior as well as the indirect effect of perceived leader's helping behavior on employees' thriving via employees' voice behavior were increasingly strong. The findings of our study have implications for research on employees' thriving at work, leaders' helping behavior, and social learning theory. Our exploratory study illustrates the relevance of focusing on aesthetic emotions in advertising research. The two leading research questions presented for consideration are (1) Can characteristics of individual movement patterns be observed throughout the entire training session despite continuous changes, i.e., even as fatigue-related processes increase? and (2) How do intra-individual movement patterns change as fatigue-related processes incrhlete can be clearly identified. During the training session, changes in intra-individual movement patterns could also be detected, indicating the occurrence of adaptations in individual movement patterns throughout the fatigue-related accumulation process. The results suggest that these adaptations can be modeled in terms of changes in patterns rather than increasing variance. Practical consequences are critically discussed.

  • In this study, we explored whether NTRC acts as a master regulator of the pool of chloroplast Trxs by analyzing its functional relationship with Trxs y. While Trx y interacts with 2-Cys Prxs in vitro and in planta, the analysis of Arabidopsis mutants devoid of NTRC and Trxs y suggests that Trxs y have only a minor effect, if any, on the redox state of 2-Cys Prxs.The cultivation of bacteria sets a ground for studying biological processes in many scientific disciplines. The development of the bacterial population is commonly described with three factors that can be used to evaluate culture conditions. However, selecting only one of them for the optimization protocol is rather problematic and may lead to unintended errors. Therefore, we proposed a novel mathematical approach to obtain a single factor that could be used as the objective function to evaluate the whole growth dynamic and support the optimization of the biomass production process. The sigmoidal-shape curve, which is the commonly used function to plot the amount of biomass versus time, was the base for the mathematical analysis. The key process parameters, such as maximal specific growth rate and lag-phase duration were established with the use of mathematical coefficients of the model curve and combined to create the single growth parameter. Moreover, this parameter was used for the exemplary optimization of the cultivation conditions of Klebsiella pneumoniae that was cultured to be further used in the production of lytic bacteriophages. The proposed growth parameter was successfully validated and used to calculate the optimal process temperature of the selected bacterial strain. In recent years, palliative care has become more widely available to patients with esophageal cancer and this is beneficial for patients with esophageal cancer given the severity of symptoms and complexities of needs. Primary oncology providers should provide basic palliative care including symptom management and clear communication, and palliative care specialists can provide additional support to extend the care of the primary clinician and treat the advanced and complex physical and psychological symptoms, as well as engaging in advance care planning. This paper outlines the key components of high-quality palliative care, including advanced care planning, symptom management and psychosocial support.

  • An intraventricular cysticercus cyst is observed in 7%-30% patients of neurocysticercosis (NCC). Apart from causing arachnoiditis, intraventricular NCC (IVNCC) can cause sudden death due to acute episodes of hydrocephalus. Various treatment modalities available are external cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) diversion, microsurgical removal, and endoscopic management. There is no consensus regarding the optimal surgical treatment strategy. We are presenting our experience by doing a retrospective analysis of 26 patients having endoscopic removal of IVNCC with a rigid endoscope and angiocatheter.

    The aim of this study is to evaluate the results of neuroendoscopy in restoring the CSF pathway and removal of the cyst in patients of IVNCC.

    Retrospective analysis of clinical record and follow-up of 26 patients of IVNCC who were treated endoscopically between 2010 and 2018 was done. The diagnosis of IVNCC was made based on contrast enhanced magnetic resonance imaging of the brain. Transcranial endoscopy with 0° endoscope was performed through the frontal **** hole. Third ventriculostomy and removal of the cysticercus cyst with angiocatheter were the procedures done.

    The success rate of intraventricular cyst excision, whether complete or partial, was 100% (14/14) in the third ventricular cyst, 62.5% (5/8) in the fourth ventricular cyst and 100% (4/4) in the lateral ventricular cyst. The overall success rate of cyst excision by endoscopy was 88.46%. The overall successful CSF flow pathway was established in 88.46% cases. The mean duration of follow-up was 44 months, and all the patients were found symptom free in the follow-up period.

    A total of 100 patients with IA diagnosed at the department of neurosurgery between January 2019 and December 2019 were reviewed and analyzed in this study. Computed tomography angiography was used to confirm and locate the site of aneurysms. BMD, serum calcium, and Vitamin D levels were measured.

    Linear or logistic regression statistical models were applied to found the association between BMD and IA size. To confirm the statistical significance,

    Of the studied 100 patients, 61 patients were female and 39 were male. According to the age group, patients were divided into five categories below 30, 31-40, 41-50, 51-60, and ≥60 years. Nerves supplying the zygomaticus major muscle are primary donors for the grafting procedure; however, their topography has not been studied in detail. This study identified potential donor nerves by quantifying axon loads of the zygomaticus major muscle through histological analysis of cadaveric specimens.

  • Seeking cancer information is recognized as an important, life-saving behavior under normal circumstances. However, given the significant impact of COVID-19 on society, the healthcare system, and individuals and their families, it is important to understand how the pandemic has affected cancer information needs in a crisis context and, in turn, how public health agencies have responded to meeting the information needs of various audiences. Using data from the National Cancer Institute's Cancer Information Service (CIS) - a long-standing, multi-channel resource for trusted cancer information in English and Spanish - this descriptive analysis explored differences in cancer information-seeking among cancer survivors, caregivers, tobacco users, and members of the general public during the onset and continuation of the COVID-19 pandemic (February - September 2020), specifically comparing interactions that involved a discussion of COVID-19 to those that did not. During the study period, COVID-19 discussions were more likely to involve survivors or caregivers compared to tobacco users and the general public. Specific patterns emerged across the four user types and their respective discussions of COVID-19 related to language of service, point of CIS access, stage on the cancer continuum, subject of interaction, cancer site discussed, and referrals provided by the CIS. These results provide insights that may help public health agencies deliver, prioritize, and tailor their messaging and response to specific audiences based on heightened health information needs during a crisis.
    The aim of this study is to assess the procedure-to-delivery interval (PDI), the obstetric complications, and the early neonatal outcome in patients that did or did not receive glucocorticosteroids (GCSs) before third-trimester amniocentesis (TTA).

    A retrospectively analysis of 445 TTA procedures divided into two groups based on the administration (study group = 220 patients) or not (control group = 225 patients) of GCSs before TTA. The PDI was calculated for all patients. Obstetric and neonatal outcomes were compared between the groups.

    The rate of procedure-associated complications was similar between the groups. The mean PDI was 47.2 ± 16.8days. The overall incidence of preterm birth was 11.7%; 9% delivered between 34 and 37weeks and 2.7% between 28 and 34weeks. Only nine patients (2%) delivered within seven days following TTA. The incidence of respiratory distress syndrome in the study and control groups was 1.8% and 1.3%,
     = .71, respectively. There were no significant differences in other neonatal outcomes in term and preterm deliveries between the study and control groups.

The relatively low incidence and atypical early-stage symptoms may hinder many physicians from carrying out surgical intervention effectively, thus leading to an increase of mortality in infected patients. This article reported a patient who developed necrotizing fasciitis and septic shock after the exposure to freshwater shrimp stabbed on the limb. By reviewing and analyzing previous studies, it was found out that the timing of surgery could have a significant impact on the patients for their necrotizing fasciitis caused by Vibrio vulnificus infection.     Seeking cancer information is recognized as an important, life-saving behavior under normal circumstances. However, given the significant impact of COVID-19 on society, the healthcare system, and individuals and their families, it is important to understand how the pandemic has affected cancer information needs in a crisis context and, in turn, how public health agencies have responded to meeting the information needs of various audiences. Using data from the National Cancer Institute's Cancer Information Service (CIS) - a long-standing, multi-channel resource for trusted cancer information in English and Spanish - this descriptive analysis explored differences in cancer information-seeking among cancer survivors, caregivers, tobacco users, and members of the general public during the onset and continuation of the COVID-19 pandemic (February - September 2020), specifically comparing interactions that involved a discussion of COVID-19 to those that did not. During the study period, COVID-19 discussions were more likely to involve survivors or caregivers compared to tobacco users and the general public. Specific patterns emerged across the four user types and their respective discussions of COVID-19 related to language of service, point of CIS access, stage on the cancer continuum, subject of interaction, cancer site discussed, and referrals provided by the CIS. These results provide insights that may help public health agencies deliver, prioritize, and tailor their messaging and response to specific audiences based on heightened health information needs during a crisis. The aim of this study is to assess the procedure-to-delivery interval (PDI), the obstetric complications, and the early neonatal outcome in patients that did or did not receive glucocorticosteroids (GCSs) before third-trimester amniocentesis (TTA). A retrospectively analysis of 445 TTA procedures divided into two groups based on the administration (study group = 220 patients) or not (control group = 225 patients) of GCSs before TTA. The PDI was calculated for all patients. Obstetric and neonatal outcomes were compared between the groups. The rate of procedure-associated complications was similar between the groups. The mean PDI was 47.2 ± 16.8days. The overall incidence of preterm birth was 11.7%; 9% delivered between 34 and 37weeks and 2.7% between 28 and 34weeks. Only nine patients (2%) delivered within seven days following TTA. The incidence of respiratory distress syndrome in the study and control groups was 1.8% and 1.3%,  = .71, respectively.   • Previous studies have associated alopecia areata (AA) with a number of comorbidities. However, the timing between AA and the development of such comorbidities remains poorly understood.

    A Danish nationwide register-based cohort study was performed on all individuals diagnosed with AA between 2007 and 2016 (n=1843), and each patient was matched for age and sex with 10 healthy controls (HCs). Time between AA and comorbidity development was assessed, and incidence rate ratios (IRRs) were calculated to assess risk of comorbidity following initial AA diagnosis.

    Use of antidepressant and anxiolytic drugs were mostly started prior to AA diagnosis, and these drugs were used more frequently before than after diagnosis with AA. Additional frequent comorbidities included thyroid disease, hyperlipidaemia, type 2 diabetes and asthma. Most comorbidities occurred prior to AA diagnosis; however, among those that occurredg by dermatologists at the initial visit may be appropriate.In defensive resource allocation problems, the defender usually collects some forecast information about the attacker. However, the forecast information may be incorrect, which means that there could be a risk associated with the defender using it in their decision making. In this article, we propose a forecast and risk control (FRC) framework to manage the risk in defensive resource allocation with forecast information. In the FRC framework, we introduce a new measure of risk and three types of defense plans riskless defense plan, risky defense plan, and risk-control defense plan. Several desirable properties based on the concepts of reward and penalty show that the risk-control defense plan is a general form to support defensive resource allocation. Subsequently, we study a specific defensive allocation problem with forecast information and develop an optimization model that considers the forecast information and the defender's risk tolerance level in order to obtain the risk-control defense plan with maximum reward. Furthermore, we provide some numerical analysis to illustrate the effects of forecast information and risk tolerance level on the risk-control defense plan. Finally, a numerical case study is presented to demonstrate the usability of a risk-control defense plan.
    Stroke is one of the leading causes of disability worldwide. Functional impairment, resulting in poor performance in activities of daily living (ADL) among stroke survivors is common. Current rehabilitation approaches have limited effectiveness in improving ADL performance, function, muscle strength, and cognitive abilities (including spatial neglect) after stroke, with improving cognition being the number one research priority in this field. A possible adjunct to stroke rehabilitation might be non-invasive brain stimulation by transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) to modulate cortical excitability, and hence to improve these outcomes in people after stroke.

The histidine moiety close to hemin group (His18) is mainly responsible for proton abstraction to promote the concerted E2 pathway for KE catalysis when cyt c is in its oxidized form; this has also been confirmed by a H18A mutant of cyt c. However, the redox pathway is predominant under reducing conditions in the presence of dithiothreitol over the pH range 6-7.4. Enhanced expression of miR-302/367 cluster accelerated the mitophagic response in macrophages, thus increasing clearance of invading P. aeruginosa by regulating production of reactive oxygen species (ROS), while application of miR-302/367 cluster inhibitors decreased bacterial clearance. Blocking mitophagy with siRNA against mitophagy receptor prohibitin 2 (PHB2) reduced the effect of miR-302/367 cluster on induction of mitophagy and its-associated P. aeruginosa elimination. In addition, we found that miR-302/367 cluster also increased bacterial clearance in mouse model. Mechanistically, we illustrate that miR-302/367 cluster binds to the 3'-untranslated region of nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB), a negative regulator of mitophagy, accelerated the process of mitophagy by inhibiting NF-κB.

The disease is caused by SARS-CoV-2, which belongs to the family of Coronaviridae along with MERS-CoV and SARS-CoV-1. The virus has the positive-sense RNA as its genome encoding for ~26 proteins that work together for the virus survival, replication, and spread in the host. The virus gets transmitted through the contact of aerosol droplets from infected persons. The pathogenesis of COVID-19 is highly complex and involves suppression of host antiviral and innate immune response, induction of oxidative stress followed by hyper inflammation described as the "cytokine storm," causing the acute lung injury, tissue fibrosis, and pneumonia. Currently, several vaccines and drugs are being evaluated for their efficacy, safety, and for determination of doses for COVID-19 and this requires considerable time for their validation. Therefore, exploring the repurposing of natural compounds may provide alternatives against COVID-19. Several nutraceuticals have a proven ability of immune-boosting, antiviral, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory effects. These include Zn, vitamin D, vitamin C, curcumin, cinnamaldehyde, probiotics, selenium, lactoferrin, quercetin, etc. Grouping some of these phytonutrients in the right combination in the form of a food supplement may help to boost the immune system, prevent virus spread, preclude the disease progression to severe stage, and further suppress the hyper inflammation providing both prophylactic and therapeutic support against COVID-19.The blockade of immunological negative regulators offered a novel therapeutic approach that revolutionized the immunotherapy of cancer. Still, a significant portion of patients fail to respond to anti-PD-1/PD-L1 and/or anti-CTLA-4 therapy or experience significant adverse effects. We propose that one of the major reasons that many patients do not respond to this form of therapy is due to the powerful physiological suppression mediated by hypoxia-adenosinergic signaling. Indeed, both inflamed and cancerous tissues are hypoxic and rich in extracellular adenosine, in part due to stabilization of the transcription factor hypoxia-inducible factor 1 alpha (HIF-1α). Adenosine signals through adenosine A2A receptors (A2AR) to suppress anti-tumor and anti-pathogen immune responses. Several classes of anti-hypoxia-A2AR therapeutics have been offered to refractory cancer patients, with A2AR blockers, inhibitors of adenosine-generating enzymes such as CD39 and CD73, and hypoxia-targeting drugs now reaching the clinical stage. Clinical results have confirmed preclinical observations that blockade of the hypoxia-adenosine-A2AR axis synergizes with inhibitors of immune checkpoints to induce tumor rejection. Thus, A2AR blockers provide a new hope for the majority of patients who are nonresponsive to current immunotherapeutic approaches including checkpoint blockade. Here, we discuss the discoveries that firmly implicate the A2AR as a critical and non-redundant biochemical negative regulator of the immune response and highlight the importance of targeting the hypoxia-adenosine-A2AR axis to manipulate anti-pathogen and anti-tumor immune responses.Atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease is part of chronic immunometabolic disorders such as type 2 diabetes and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease. Their common risk factors comprise hypertension, insulin resistance, visceral obesity, and dyslipidemias, such as hypercholesterolemia and hypertriglyceridemia, which are part of the metabolic syndrome. Immunometabolic diseases include chronic pathologies that are affected by both metabolic and inflammatory triggers and mediators. Important and challenging questions in this context are to reveal how metabolic triggers and their downstream signaling affect inflammatory processes and vice-versa. Along these lines, specific nuclear receptors sense changes in lipid metabolism and in turn induce downstream inflammatory and metabolic processes. The transcriptional activity of these nuclear receptors is regulated by the nuclear receptor corepressors (NCORs), including NCOR1. In this review we describe the function of NCOR1 as a central immunometabolic regulator and focus on its role in atherosclerosis and associated immunometabolic diseases.Mitophagy has recently been implicated in bacterial infection but the underlying mechanism remains largely unknown. Here, we uncover a role of microRNA-302/367 cluster in regulating mitophagy and its associated host response against bacterial infection. We demonstrate that miR-302/367 cluster expression was significantly increased after Pseudomonas aeruginosa infection. Enhanced expression of miR-302/367 cluster accelerated the mitophagic response in macrophages, thus increasing clearance of invading P. aeruginosa by regulating production of reactive oxygen species (ROS), while application of miR-302/367 cluster inhibitors decreased bacterial clearance. Blocking mitophagy with siRNA against mitophagy receptor prohibitin 2 (PHB2) reduced the effect of miR-302/367 cluster on induction of mitophagy and its-associated P. aeruginosa elimination. In addition, we found that miR-302/367 cluster also increased bacterial clearance in mouse model. Mechanistically, we illustrate that miR-302/367 cluster binds to the 3'-untranslated region of nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB), a negative regulator of mitophagy, accelerated the process of mitophagy by inhibiting NF-κB.
