Societal challenges associated with caring for the physical and mental health of older adults worldwide have grown at an unprecedented pace, increasing demand for health-care services and technologies Despite the development of several assistive systems tailored to older adults, the rate of adoption of health technologies is low. This review discusses the ethical and acceptability challenges resulting in low adoption of health technologies specifically focused on smart homes for older adults. The findings have been structured in two categories Ethical Considerations (Privacy, Social Support, and Autonomy) and Technology Aspects (User Context, Usability, and Training). The findings conclude that older adults community is more likely to adopt assistive systems when four key criteria are met. The technology should be personalized toward their needs, protect their dignity and independence, provide user control, and not be isolating. Finally, we recommend researchers and developers working on assistive systems to (1) provide interfaces via smart devices to control and configure the monitoring system with feedback for the user, (2) include various sensors/devices to architect a smart home solution in a way that is easy to integrate in daily life, and (3) define policies about data ownership.14-Deoxy-11,12-didehydroandrographolide (deAND), a bioactive component of Andrographis paniculata, has antidiabetic activity. In total, we reported 1 BEST1 and 8 PRPH2 novel mutations. Ten patients were characterized by drusen in the nm-PD group whereas in no patients in the m-PD group drusen were detected at the fundus.Conclusions An important proportion of patients affected by PD showed BEST1 or PRPH2 mutations. Patients affected by drusen represent a different sub-phenotype. Genetic examination is recommended for a correct clinical management.
Healthcare professionals follow codes of ethics, making them responsible for providing holistic care to all disaster victims. However, this often results in ethical dilemmas due to the need to provide rapid critical care while simultaneously attending to a complex spectrum of patient needs. These dilemmas can cause negative emotions to accumulate over time and impact physiological and psychological health, which can also threaten nurse-patient relationships.
This study aimed to understand the experience of nurses who cared for burn victims of the color-dust explosion and the meaning of ethical relationships between nurse and patient.
A qualitative descriptive study using a phenomenological approach.
Clinical nurses who provided care to the patients of the Formosa color-dust explosion of 2015 were selected by purposive sampling (N = 12) from a medical center in Taiwan. Data were collected using individual in-depth semi-structured interviews. Audiotaped interviews were transcribed and analyzed using Colaizzi's method.

This work proposes a unique approach to leveraging the inherent merits of two cross-influential anisotropic structures to resolve the trade-off among sensitivity, selectivity, and stretchability, demonstrating promising applications in full-range, multi-axis human motion detection for wearable electronics and smart robotics.Zinc metal batteries have been considered as a promising candidate for next-generation batteries due to their high safety and low cost. However, their practical applications are severely hampered by the poor cyclability that caused by the undesired dendrite growth of metallic Zn. Herein, Ti3C2Tx MXene was first used as electrolyte additive to facilitate the uniform Zn deposition by controlling the nucleation and growth process of Zn. Such MXene additives can not only be absorbed on Zn foil to induce uniform initial Zn deposition via providing abundant zincophilic-O groups and subsequently participate in the formation of robust solid-electrolyte interface film, but also accelerate ion transportation by reducing the Zn2+ concentration gradient at the electrode/electrolyte interface. Consequently, MXene-containing electrolyte realizes dendrite-free Zn plating/striping with high Coulombic efficiency (99.7%) and superior reversibility (stably up to 1180 cycles). When applied in full cell, the Zn-V2O5 cell also delivers significantly improved cycling performances. This work provides a facile yet effective method for developing reversible zinc metal batteries.The carrier transport layer with reflection reduction morphology has attracted extensive attention for improving the utilization of light. Herein, we introduced single-layer hollow ZnO hemisphere arrays (ZHAs) behaving light trapping effect as the electron transport layer in perovskite photodetectors (PDs). The single-layer hollow ZHAs can not only reduce the reflection, but also widen the angle of the effective incident light and especially transfer the distribution of the optical field from the ZnO/FTO interface to the perovskite active layer confirmed by the 3D finite-difference time-domain simulation. These merits benefit for the generation, transport and separation of carriers, improving the light utilization efficiency. Finally, our optimized FTO/ZHA/CsPbBr3/carbon structure PDs showed high self-powered performance with a linear dynamic range of 120.3 dB, a detectivity of 4.2 × 1012 Jones, rise/fall time of 13/28 µs and the f-3 dB of up to 28 kHz. Benefiting from the high device performance, the PD was demonstrated to the application in the directional transmission of encrypted files as the signal receiving port with super high accuracy. NiCo@C-NiCoMoO/NF exhibits outstanding activity with low overpotentials for hydrogen and oxygen evolution reaction (HER 39/266 mV; OER 260/390 mV) at ± 10 and ± 1000 mA cm-2. More importantly, in 6.0 M KOH solution at 60 °C for WE, it only requires 1.90 V to reach 1000 mA cm-2 and shows excellent stability for 43 h, exhibiting the potential for actual application. The good performance can be assigned to N-doped graphene-decorated NiCo alloy and mesoporous NiCoMoO nano-sheet, which not only increase the intrinsic activity and expose abundant catalytic activity sites, but also enhance its chemical and mechanical stability. It is believed that ferroelectrics may serve as efficient photocatalysts as well as photovoltaic materials but for their large bandgaps which does not allow them to absorb a large part of the solar spectrum. We have explored theoretically within ab-initio density functional theory-based calculations, the efficacy of Cu and Te to co-dope BaTiO3 in reducing its bandgap while retaining its ferroelectric properties. Examining a dopant concentration of 11%, we find an insulating ground state being realized with a band gap reduction of 0.42 eV from the value for undoped BaTiO3 for some doping configurations. Ferroelectric distortions are found to survive even in the presence of doping suggesting possible applications in photocatalysis as well as photovoltaics.Two essential oils were isolated from discarded perfume lemon and leaves (Citrus limon (L.) Burm. F.) by hydro-distillation with good yield (0.044% for perfume lemon and 0.338% for leaves). Their biological activities were evaluated against five selected bacterial strains and Aedes albopictus (Ae. albopictus, Diptera Culicidae). Chemical composition indicated that both essential oils were rich in essential phytochemicals including hydrocarbons, monoterpenes and sesquiterpene. These constituents revealed some variability among the oils displaying interesting chemotypes (R)-(+)-limonene (12.29-49.63%), citronellal (5.37-78.70%) and citronellol (2.98-7.18%). The availability and efficiency of the proposed method are demonstrated through some simulation experiments, in which the proposed collaborative classification method achieves quite good and stable performance on driving style classification. Particularly, compared with some other similar classification methods, the evaluation indicators of the proposed method, including accuracy, precision, recall and F-measure, are improved by 1.49%, 2.90%, 5.32% and 4.49% respectively, making it the best overall performance. Cohort studies delineated using primary care EHRs from the Clinical Practice Research Datalink (CPRD) GOLD and Aurum databases, with linkage to hospital episode statistics (HES), Office for National Statistics (ONS) mortality data and indices of multiple deprivation (IMD). People with psoriasis were matched to those without psoriasis by age, sex and general practice. Cancer recording between databases was investigated by proportion concordant, that being the presence of cancer record in both source and comparator datasets. A study to evaluate tin-117m colloid treatment response in dogs with OA was conducted at two centers, the School of Veterinary Medicine at Louisiana State University, and at a referral practice in Houston, Texas. The tin-117m colloid was administered per-protocol to 14 client-owned dogs with radiographically confirmed, grade 3 OA in one or both elbow joints. We used an extremely simple epidemiological model that is amenable to implementation in an Excel spreadsheet and includes the demographics of social distancing, efficacy of massive testing and quarantine, and coverage and rate of vaccination as the main parameters to model the progression of COVID-19 pandemics in densely populated urban areas. Our model predicts that effective containment of pandemic progression in densely populated cities would be more effectively achieved by vaccination campaigns that consider the fast distribution and application of vaccines (i.e., 50% coverage in 6 months) while social distancing measures are still in place. Our results suggest that the rate of vaccination is more important than the overall vaccination coverage for containing COVID-19. In addition, our modeling indicates that widespread testing and quarantining of infected subjects would greatly benefit the success of vaccination campaigns. We envision this simple model as a friendly, readily accessible, and cost-effective tool for assisting health officials and local governments in the rational design/planning of vaccination strategies.This study examines the relationship between economic growth, renewable energy consumption, and carbon emissions in Iran between 1975-2017, and the bounds testing approach to cointegration and the asymmetric method was used in this study. The results reveal that in the long run increase in renewable energy consumption and CO2 emissions causes an increase in real GDP per capita. Meanwhile, the decrease in renewable energy has the same effect, but GDP per capita reacts more strongly to the rise in renewable energy than the decline. Besides, in the long run, a reduction of CO2 emissions has an insignificant impact on GDP per capita. Furthermore, the results from asymmetric tests suggest that reducing CO2 emissions and renewable energy consumption do not have an essential role in decreasing growth in the short run. In contrast, an increase in renewable energy consumption and CO2 emissions do contribute to boosting the growth. These results may be attributable to the less renewable energy in the energy portfolio of Iran.
The availability and efficiency of the proposed method are demonstrated through some simulation experiments, in which the proposed collaborative classification method achieves quite good and stable performance on driving style classification. Particularly, compared with some other similar classification methods, the evaluation indicators of the proposed method, including accuracy, precision, recall and F-measure, are improved by 1.49%, 2.90%, 5.32% and 4.49% respectively, making it the best overall performance. We used an extremely simple epidemiological model that is amenable to implementation in an Excel spreadsheet and includes the demographics of social distancing, efficacy of massive testing and quarantine, and coverage and rate of vaccination as the main parameters to model the progression of COVID-19 pandemics in densely populated urban areas. Our model predicts that effective containment of pandemic progression in densely populated cities would be more effectively achieved by vaccination campaigns that consider the fast distribution and application of vaccines (i.e., 50% coverage in 6 months) while social distancing measures are still in place. Our results suggest that the rate of vaccination is more important than the overall vaccination coverage for containing COVID-19. In addition, our modeling indicates that widespread testing and quarantining of infected subjects would greatly benefit the success of vaccination campaigns. We envision this simple model as a friendly, readily accessible, and cost-effective tool for assisting health officials and local governments in the rational design/planning of vaccination strategies.This study examines the relationship between economic growth, renewable energy consumption, and carbon emissions in Iran between 1975-2017, and the bounds testing approach to cointegration and the asymmetric method was used in this study. The results reveal that in the long run increase in renewable energy consumption and CO2 emissions causes an increase in real GDP per capita. Meanwhile, the decrease in renewable energy has the same effect, but GDP per capita reacts more strongly to the rise in renewable energy than the decline. Besides, in the long run, a reduction of CO2 emissions has an insignificant impact on GDP per capita. Furthermore, the results from asymmetric tests suggest that reducing CO2 emissions and renewable energy consumption do not have an essential role in decreasing growth in the short run. In contrast, an increase in renewable energy consumption and CO2 emissions do contribute to boosting the growth. I demonstrate that viability is formalized differently in the criminal law in England and Wales and the USA, such that it is quantified and defined differently. I consider how the law might be applied to the examples of artificial womb technology and anencephalic fetuses. I conclude that there is incoherence in the meaning of viability and argue that it is thus a conceptually illegitimate basis on which to ground abortion regulation. This is both because of the fluidity of the concept and because how it has been thus far understood in the law is unsupported by medical realities. Furthermore, it has the effect of heavily diluting pregnant people's rights with overly moralistic limitations on access to healthcare.International health research increasingly depends on collaboration and combination using medical data to advance treatment and drug discovery. The European Union (EU), through its General Data Protection Regulation, has tightened the rules for sharing data across borders to protect individual privacy. These new rules threaten cooperation between the EU and the USA, the two largest public funders of biomedical research. This article analyzes the primary pathway for sharing research data with the USA, the US-EU Privacy Shield, and argues that the Shield is ill-suited to support complex health studies. Its legitimacy is in question under both EU and US law, and its terms are too restrictive for the variety of exchanges underlying research, treatment, and care. As an alternative, we propose that the USA seek an additional sector-based adequacy determination based on the existing US health privacy law, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act. A sector-specific approach to adequacy for health would avoid many of the most contentious issues that divide the USA and EU on data protection.

Mesenchymal stem cells (****) have been studied as a promising type of stem cell for use in cell therapies because of their ability to regulate the immune response. Although they are classically isolated from the bone marrow, many studies have sought to isolate **** from noninvasive sources. The objective of this study was to evaluate how **** isolated from the dental pulp of human exfoliated deciduous teeth (SHED) and fragments of the orbicularis oris muscle (OOMDSCs) behave when treated with an inflammatory IFN-γ stimulus, specifically regarding their proliferative, osteogenic, and immunomodulatory potentials. The results demonstrated that the proliferation of SHED and OOMDSCs was inhibited by the addition of IFN-γ to their culture medium and that treatment with IFN-γ at higher concentrations resulted in a greater inhibition of the proliferation of these cells than treatment with IFN-γ at lower concentrations. SHED and OOMDSCs maintained their osteogenic differentiation potential after stimulation with IFN-γ. Additionally, SHED and OOMDSCs have been shown to have low immunogenicity because they lack expression of HLA-DR and costimulatory molecules such as CD40, CD80, and CD86 before and after IFN-γ treatment. Last, SHED and OOMDSCs expressed the immunoregulatory molecule HLA-G, and the expression of this antigen increased after IFN-γ treatment. The strain identity was confirmed by 16S rRNA-based phylogeny and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). Ethyl acetate and chloroform (1 1 v/v) extracts from the endophyte were tested for antimicrobial and antioxidant activity on a total of 7 bacterial species (3 Gram-positive and 4 Gram-negative) using the standard Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) protocol and Quantitative Radical Scavenging activity using the 2, 2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) assay, respectively. The **** were recorded at 250 μg/mL for B. subtilis ATCC 19659, B. cereus ATCC 1076, E. coli ATCC1053, and 62.5 μg/mL for K. oxytoca ATCC 13182 and M. smegmatis ATCC 21293, while an IC50 of 5.65 μg/mL was recorded with the DPPH assay. The knowledge of the dietary factors that affect the oral health is a major component in the treatment plan. In this vein, this study was conducted to determine the level of awareness of nutrition information affecting oral health among dental patients who visit the private and university dental clinics in West Bank, Palestine. A total of 169 patients were invited to join the study and signed the consent form. A pretested questionnaire was used to collect the required data which included patients' sociodemographics, medical history, oral care practices, dietary practices, and oral health-related nutritional awareness. Face and content validity were verified, followed by a pilot study to determiational courses and programs to improve oral and nutritional awareness and knowledge among Palestinian people and dental patients in particular. Forty-five files were distributed into 3 groups PTN X2 (size 25 and taper 0.06), TF (size 25 and taper 0.06), and TN prime file (size 26 and taper 0.04). Each group included 15 files. Lengths of all files were 25 mm. Cyclic fatigue testing was done using artificial stainless-steel canals with 60-degree curvature and 5 mm radius. Continuous rotation movement at 300 rpm was used until the file fractures. Time for file separation was recorded in seconds. The number of cycles to failure (NCF) mean and standard deviation for each group was calculated. For statistical analysis of data, ANOVA and Tukey's multiple comparison test were used. Mean and standard deviation (SD) of NCF were 259 ± 37.2, 521.67 ± 63.07 and 846.67 ± 37.16 for PTN, TF, and TN respectively.

The strain identity was confirmed by 16S rRNA-based phylogeny and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). Ethyl acetate and chloroform (1 1 v/v) extracts from the endophyte were tested for antimicrobial and antioxidant activity on a total of 7 bacterial species (3 Gram-positive and 4 Gram-negative) using the standard Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) protocol and Quantitative Radical Scavenging activity using the 2, 2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) assay, respectively. The MICs were recorded at 250 μg/mL for B. subtilis ATCC 19659, B. cereus ATCC 1076, E. coli ATCC1053, and 62.5 μg/mL for K. oxytoca ATCC 13182 and M. smegmatis ATCC 21293, while an IC50 of 5.65 μg/mL was recorded with the DPPH assay. Consumption of much cariogenic nutrients such as sugar affects dental and gum health. The awareness of dietary practices that affect the oral health is an essential component in the dental care system. The knowledge of the dietary factors that affect the oral health is a major component in the treatment plan. In this vein, this study was conducted to determine the level of awareness of nutrition information affecting oral health among dental patients who visit the private and university dental clinics in West Bank, Palestine. A total of 169 patients were invited to join the study and signed the consent form. A pretested questionnaire was used to collect the required data which included patients' sociodemographics, medical history, oral care practices, dietary practices, and oral health-related nutritional awareness. Face and content validity were verified, followed by a pilot study to determiational courses and programs to improve oral and nutritional awareness and knowledge among Palestinian people and dental patients in particular. Forty-five files were distributed into 3 groups PTN X2 (size 25 and taper 0.06), TF (size 25 and taper 0.06), and TN prime file (size 26 and taper 0.04). Each group included 15 files. Lengths of all files were 25 mm. Cyclic fatigue testing was done using artificial stainless-steel canals with 60-degree curvature and 5 mm radius. Continuous rotation movement at 300 rpm was used until the file fractures. Time for file separation was recorded in seconds. The number of cycles to failure (NCF) mean and standard deviation for each group was calculated. For statistical analysis of data, ANOVA and Tukey's multiple comparison test were used. Ticagrelor and dapagliflozin can suppress the activation of the NOD-like receptor 3 (NLRP3)-inflammasome and activate AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK). The anti-inflammatory effects of dapagliflozin has been shown to depend on AMPK activation. Dapagliflozin and ticagrelor have been shown to have additive effects on the progression of diabetic cardiomyopathy in BTBR ob/ob **** with type-2 diabetes. We assessed whether dapagliflozin and ticagrelor have additive effects on the activation of the NLRP3-inflammasome and the progression of diabetic nephropathy in **** with type-2 diabetes.

Renal cortex samples were assessed by hematoxylin and eosin and periodic acid-Schiff staining. To compare the morphological and biomechanical properties of normal cornea and keratoconus at different stages.
A total of 408 patients (517 eyes) with keratoconus were included in this study. According to the Topographic Keratoconus (TKC) grading method, keratoconus was divided into stage I (TKC = 1, 130 eyes), stage II (TKC = 1-2, 2, 164 eyes), stage III (TKC = 2-3, 3, 125 eyes) and stage IV (TKC = 3-4, 4, 98 eyes). A total of 158 normal subjects (158 eyes) were recruited as the normal group. The corneal morphological parameters and biomechanical parameters were obtained with Scheimpflug tomography (Pentacam) and corneal visualization Scheimpflug technology (Corvis ST), and the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves were drawn.
Each corneal morphological and most biomechanical parameters of the keratoconic eyes were significantly different from those of the normal eyes in this study (p < 0.001). ROC curve demonstrated that most parameters in this study showed high efficiency in diagnosing keratoconus (the area under the ROC (AUC) was > 0.9), with the Belin-Ambrósio deviation (BAD-D) and Tomographic and Biomechanical Index (TBI) showing higher efficiency. https://www.selleckchem.com/products/b102-parp-hdac-in-1.html The efficiency of BAD-D and TBI was high in differentiating keratoconus at different stages (AUC > 0.963). To that aim, the items were modified and the response scale was reduced from a seven-point to a five-point Likert scale. To verify the adequacy of the modified scale, two studies were conducted among Italian adolescents. In the first study (n = 501, 75% males, Mage = 16.74, SD = .88), after having removed four items and relocating another through explorative factor analysis, the original five-factor structure of the scale was confirmed by applying a confirmatory factor analysis. Reliability and validity evidence were also provided. The second study (n = 1894, 61% males, Mage = 15.68, SD = .71) attested its invariance across gambling behaviour status and gender. The dosimetry model ExDoM2 was applied to determine the deposited dose of inhalable particulate matter (PM10) from residential biomass combustion in the human respiratory tract (HRT) of adults and children. The dose was estimated using PM10 exposure concentrations obtained from a field campaign carried out in two households during the operation of an open fireplace and a woodstove. Simultaneously, PM10 levels were monitored outside to investigate the outdoor dose in a rural area strongly impacted by biomass burning emissions. Indoors, the 8-h average PM10 concentrations ranged from 88.3 to 489 μg m-3 and from 69.4 to 122 μg m-e the wood burning technology to reduce the PM levels inside their residences. This study also provides biologically relevant results on the lung deposition of particles from residential biomass burning that can be used as a reference for future research.Hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) is a reactive chemical used in a wide range of applications. For repeated-dose inhalation toxicity study, Wistar rats (both male and female) were exposed (whole body exposure) to 0.5% of H2O2 mist, at a concentration of 11.022 (low dose-2-min exposure), 22.044 (medium dose-4-min exposure), and 55.11mg/kg (high dose/high dose recovery-10-min exposure) body weight, daily for 7 days. Rats in the high-dose recovery group (55.11mg/kg-10-min exposure) were kept for another 7 days without any exposure. A toxicological evaluation was done based on general health parameters, hematology, serum biochemistry, gross necropsy, and histopathological data.

The expression of CD31 and VEGF proteins, as angiogenesis markers, and Ki-67 protein, as a proliferation marker, was significantly higher in a low dose of ATO (2 mg/kg) than that of the control group in vivo experiment. Previously we found that the novel selective RNA polymerase I inhibitor CX-5461 induced a robust response of p53 phosphorylation and activation in vascular smooth muscle cells. In the present study, we characterized the anti-fibrotic effects of CX-5461 in primary cardiac fibroblasts. We showed that CX-5461 suppressed spontaneous and mitogen-stimulated activation, proliferation, and myofibroblast differentiation, at a concentration (1 μM) with no cytotoxicity. The inhibitory effects of CX-5461 were primarily mediated by activation of the p53 pathway rather than limiting the rate of ribosome biogenesis. It was also shown that CX-5461 triggered a non-canonical DNA damage response in cardiac fibroblasts, which acted as the upstream signal leading to p53 activation. In the present study, human lung cancer A549 cells were used to reveal the mechanism of iso-suillin's effects on lung adenocarcinoma, which were detected both in vitro and in vivo. Results showed that iso-suillin potently inhibited A549 cell proliferation through an early G1 arrest. Iso-suillin also induced A549 cell apoptosis in vitro. Phosphorylation of p53 at serines 15 and 20 may be one of the pivotal factors for cell cycle arrest and apoptosis after treatment of iso-suillin in A549 cells. Moreover, in an A549 xenograft model, tumor growth and progression could be inhibited by iso-suillin. Body weight change and some vital organs toxicity was also roughly examined, no significant toxic effects of iso-suillin were shown (at a dose of 5 mg/kg for each administration).

The cell differentiation into bone and fat tissues was confirmed by Alizarin red staining and flow cytometry, and the cell proliferation was confirmed by MTT assay. Unlike ATO 40 mg/kg group, ATO 2 mg/kg was significantly increased the CD31, eNOS, podocalyxin, von Willibrand factor, and alpha-smooth muscle actin proteins levels compared to the control group in vitro experiment. The expression of CD31 and VEGF proteins, as angiogenesis markers, and Ki-67 protein, as a proliferation marker, was significantly higher in a low dose of ATO (2 mg/kg) than that of the control group in vivo experiment. Unlike ATO 40 mg/kg, the expression levels of ERK, AKT, NF-ҝB, Rho, STAT3, Ets-1, HIF-1α, and VEGF proteins and genes were significantly increased in ATO 2 mg/kg compared to the control. A low dose of ATO can be a beneficial tool in the function of MSCs and their differentiation to tissue angiogenesis.Several lines of studies have indicated that the p53 pathway may have important anti-fibrotic functions. Previously we found that the novel selective RNA polymerase I inhibitor CX-5461 induced a robust response of p53 phosphorylation and activation in vascular smooth muscle cells. In the present study, we characterized the anti-fibrotic effects of CX-5461 in primary cardiac fibroblasts. We showed that CX-5461 suppressed spontaneous and mitogen-stimulated activation, proliferation, and myofibroblast differentiation, at a concentration (1 μM) with no cytotoxicity. The inhibitory effects of CX-5461 were primarily mediated by activation of the p53 pathway rather than limiting the rate of ribosome biogenesis. It was also shown that CX-5461 triggered a non-canonical DNA damage response in cardiac fibroblasts, which acted as the upstream signal leading to p53 activation. Taking these together, we suggest that p53 activation by pharmacological inhibition of Pol I may represent a viable approach to repress the development of cardiac fibrosis.Extensive investigations have revealed that iso-suillin, a secondary metabolite isolated from Suillus flavus, could induce cell cycle arrest and apoptosis in human chronic myeloid leukemia K562 cells, human hepatocellular carcinoma SMMC-7721 cell line, and human small cell lung cancer H446 cell line in vitro. In the present study, human lung cancer A549 cells were used to reveal the mechanism of iso-suillin's effects on lung adenocarcinoma, which were detected both in vitro and in vivo. Results showed that iso-suillin potently inhibited A549 cell proliferation through an early G1 arrest. Iso-suillin also induced A549 cell apoptosis in vitro. Phosphorylation of p53 at serines 15 and 20 may be one of the pivotal factors for cell cycle arrest and apoptosis after treatment of iso-suillin in A549 cells. Moreover, in an A549 xenograft model, tumor growth and progression could be inhibited by iso-suillin.
